"The Crab Trap in Somers Point is just a quick trip over the Ocean City Ninth Street bridge and well worth the short car ride for the restaurant’s famous creamy crab bisque and baked crab imperial. This popular restaurant is bustling all seasons throughout the year, especially during the summer, and for good reason—the expansive menu offers something for all seafood lovers to enjoy, from the deviled clams appetizer to the blackened mahi mahi entree." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

"The Crab Trap is known for its expansive seafood menu, so it’s no wonder that a seafood-laden soup would be on the roster at this Somers Point restaurant. You’ll find a few different soup varieties on the menu; however, it’s the creamy crab bisque that is a popular draw for diners. The rich and creamy bisque features generous portions of crabmeat making for a filling dish to enjoy all on its own or as a welcome first course." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

"Right down the street from Smitty’s is The Crab Trap, a large, diner-looking place with an even longer wait than Smitty’s. And while you probably shouldn’t give up too many beach days to wait in line for a bucket of crabs, you should sacrifice a particularly gray one to leave the Shore early and get in line before the dinner crew shows up. Their seafood is all delicious and turned into things like deviled clams and honey-glazed salmon. If you can, try to get a table at the outdoor bar overlooking the bay so that you can eat your fish while you stare at its former home." - Sydney McElwee

My husband and I stopped by last Saturday. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes to be seated as it was crowded. We ordered half a dozen oysters and the tuna nachos as appetizers. The oysters were small. The tuna nachos were good. We ordered from the lunch specials menu. My husband had the cod, and I ordered the tuna. Both were good. I was pleased with the amount of food included with our entrees. You get two sides and your choice of soup or salad. We selected the broccoli and cheese soup, which was delicious. For the sides, I chose the sweet potato and cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was great. My husband chose the sweet potato and coleslaw. I have to say that you get a lot for the price of your entree, which both were under $20. I would stop by again when in the area.

Excellent food server Sabra was excellent my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our food they never disappoint. The Halibut special was delicious and so were the broiled scallops. Clams Casino delicious and also the hot combo we will always come back. 😊👍

Been here a dozen times over the years and never reviewed. We always sit at the bar. Great service. Friendly bartenders. And they do a pretty good gin martini. I always get the scallops. I'm boring but it's my go-to food. Don't mind the ketchup as I'm a bit of a fanatic. Go here in the off-season otherwise, you'll be spending hours waiting.

Google
Awesome dinner tonight. Gary is a fantastic server who obviously loves his job! He was the highlight of our night, and made a memorable dinner for our entire family. The Clams Casino and Cod and Risotto were to die for. We will definitely be back!

Was here on 9/20/24 for the first time and was absolutely delicious! Everything from drinks, appetizers and dinner! Two of us got the Second Mate, the Steak and Shrimp and the Shrimp pasta. Great portion sizes and everything was cooked fresh and flavorful. Waitress was great. Great menu with lots of options. Definitely will be returning. :)

Google
Local establishment that’s been open forever. Prepare for a long wait, there are no reservations, but however long they say the wait is, it’s usually much less. They told us 90 minutes, but it only ended up being about 40. Bring a light sweatshirt if you get cold in high AC restaurants. They give you 2 sides with your meal, as well as a bread basket. Food is decent but not amazing. Clams casino was my fav

Google
Great service and the food was super tasty. I got the seafood pasta dish and shared with my girlfriend the NY strip. Both were great. I’d definitely come back and try other items on the menu

Really nice place and elegant and roomy. They have a bar area and a live band when they advertise it on the outside sign. Food is good but pricey. I liked my turkey club it was delish.

Yelp
7/6/24 We got there just before 6pm thinking it was early, boy were we wrong! 1 hr 40 min later we got seated. Never have we waited so long to be seated. We usually leave but we were not starving so we opted to stay. It was well worth the wait. We understand why people were willing to wait. Service was impeccable and food was amazing. The restaurant is huge inside. There is the bar section when you enter, a more casual section, and then a fine dining section. With some private party rooms that they opened to dining since there were larger groups. We were seated in the fine dining section so it was very nice. We felt under dressed in shorts and graphic tees hehehe. I believe our waiter was Oscar, I forgot to write it down for this review. Very helpful and patient even though there were so many other large tables. He kept coming to check on us and to let us know our drink/food is being prepared or it's coming out soon. Pina Colada was surprisingly good, creamy coconut, usually you don't taste the coconut Mocktail was delicious, I just forgot the name. Stuffed Onion Ring - ok the best onion ring we've ever had! To bad it was just 1, hehehe Twin Lobster Tails were fresh and well seasoned Second Mate - broiled platter - lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, deviled clam, deviled crab and fish fillet - this was a delicious combination of all seafoods you would want. I did like the deviled clam the best! I had to tell all of my friends and coworkers they had to stop in if they ever visit the area. We will definitely stop by next time we are down by the shore so we can try the clams casino which we were told is a must.

Yelp
Every time we come to OCNJ we always make sure to stop at the crab trap and we love it. Unfortunately I have to share that this time around I did find a little piece of plastic in my pasta. I am typically not one to complain and be a pain and I know mistakes do happen so I didn't mention this to the staff, because the rest of the dish was completely fine and delicious. Don't get me wrong we still love it here and we will be coming back, but I just thought this was something worth mentioning in a review. Still really good service and food! Edit: Even if I told the staff about this I still would have shared this in my review on social media.

Yelp
Always a pleasure to go here. My wife said her king crab legs were fantastic. I had a special - halibut with a pistachio crust which was moist and very flavorful. The crust was an amazing complement to the bright white fish. Also had a dozen oysters from Virginia which were briny and of the sea. Outside of a stupendous meal, our waitress Eileen B was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, outgoing and if there was any error in something she did she didn't shy away from it as many other waitstaff would try. She brought us extra rolls and bread b/c we were the last seating and she said they will just throw it away. She even wrapped some up for us. She was vivacious and a breath of fresh air in every way. Having worked at every level in a restaurant & now partners in other restaurants, she stands out as exemplary for the family casual restaurant waitstaff's everywhere.

Yelp
The Food is horrible. A complete waste of money and we had to wait 68 minutes for a table. At least make the food worth the wait. All of the fried seafood is a concoction of the same exact bland breading...I am so hopeful this isn't a just a bunch of frozen seafood they are passing off as fresh. There is no way this is fresh seafood, locally caught with in house prepared and lightly battered to order. Love the atmosphere, the waterfront deck while we waited and the music. Pass on the food.

April L.

Yelp
Great lunch specials. Each meal comes with two sides and soup or salad. Fantastic value.

Alexandra R.

Yelp
We went there today. With intentions of doing the crabby trap but they were closed. So we headed inside and took advantage of their "twilight dinner specials". We had crab ball appetizer. It was pretty good the salad arrived fresh and cold. Our dinners were just ehh. I had a sirloin steak over mashed potatoes and my wife had chicken Milanese. It wasn't bad. It was just ehh. The service was great. We had Amanda who was super attentive and honest about dish recommendations. The decor is nice and the place is clean. I was just left a little unimpressed.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday night and yep busy as bees! While we thought that perhaps it's such a nice day out perhaps people were still on the beach across the bridge in OCNJ. WRONG! So very much mistaken we were told our wait time would be about an hour n 15 minutes. We waited! Something good to know - they have lots of bench seating outside for those of you (mainly everyone) wants to. We waited about an hr. Once we were seated our server greeted us and took our drink orders. Given how incredibly busy it was he told us immediately that he might be back in a few minutes since he had a big table whose dinner was ready so he needed to take care of that. Liked that he gave us the heads up and we did have to wait a bit for us to get our drinks but it wasn't bad. Without the notice we definitely would have been wondering. Starting off with the most lack luster of our meals but chalk this up to personal preference the pre dinner iceberg/maybe a touch of romaine salad was not great. I like the more leafier greens (spinach, arugula, kale - you get the point). The cutest basket of muffins and hot baked rolls tied up into a cute bundle to keep them warm was served. The rolls were so soft but kinda bland. But honestly it wasn't why we ate here. The menu is enormous and I really was having a hard time deciding between the halibut special, the seafood sauté and the scallops. Opted for the halibut because it sounded amazing. Roasted halibut with a pineapple mango salsa in a mango coconut sauce! I so would've love for it to have been serve with rice vs a choice of baked potato or sweet potato. My fiancé had filet with twin lobster tails, my mom the grilled salmon and my future MIL the stuffed jumbo shrimp. I really appreciated the server/kitchen accommodating my mom's dietary health restrictions of no salt, dairy or sauces. It's the new norm for her now w/kidney, heart, diabetes and BP issues. Makes it really tough to enjoy dining out and eating in general. So seriously a big THANK YOU! We all loved our main entrees. The meal is definitely what keeps everyone coming back even with the LOONNNGGG wait times. While I do know that this place has been around for decades and it's their policy not to take reservations maybe time for a change?!?

Yelp
Dining at The Crab Trap in Somers Point, NJ, is always a classy experience that never fails to impress. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a lively ambiance that promises an exceptional dining journey. A standout dish, the Creamy Crab Bisque, is nothing short of spectacular, brimming with generous chunks of crab that melt in your mouth, enveloping your taste buds in a rich, velvety creamy embrace. Accompanying the bisque, the house salad with Caesar dressing is a refreshing counterpoint, offering a crisp, flavorful start that perfectly sets the stage for the main event. Speaking of which, the Second Mate Combination Platter is one not to skip. This broiled assortment featuring lobster, shrimp, scallops cooked to a tender medium, alongside a savory deviled clam, a mouthwatering crabcake, and flounder, offers a symphony of flavors that harmonize beautifully on the plate. Each element is cooked to perfection, showcasing the freshness and quality of the seafood. The sweet potato side is a nice touch, adding a sweet, comforting note that complements the succulence of the seafood. The Crab Trap's commitment to quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction shines through in every dish, making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to indulge in the finest seafood offerings in the area. Whether you're a local or just passing through, a meal here is sure to be a memorable part of your culinary adventures.

Yelp
My girlfriend's family vacations in OCNJ every summer and The Crab Trap is a staple for at least a couple of their family dinners. This was my first visit but I've heard so many good things. We decided to take the hour drive over Memorial Day weekend knowing it would be crowded, but we went in with a game plan and the mindset that there'd be a wait. The inside of the restaurant definitely felt like we were in a shore town. As you walk in there's a large bar to the right and they had live music playing. To the left there was a very big dining area with plenty of tables. We were told the wait would be an hour and twenty minutes which we were fine with. Luckily we got two seats at the bar right when we walked in where we spent the next hour before our table was ready. The bar was busy but the bartenders did a fine job keeping drinks in front of everyone. They all started with a round of Bloody Marys while I got a Manhattan. The Bloodys were a hit and I'm told are always very good. I enjoyed the Manhattan and it's nice they give you a side of rocks with your martini after it's poured. We also split a couple appetizers: clams casino and onion ring stuffed with crab imperial. The clams casino, despite being made with minced clams, were very good. The stuffed onion ring was great and kept the crisp coating while being covered in crab meat and sitting in sauce. Both things I would definitely order again. We closed out at the bar once our table was ready and realized the bartenders charged us for three Manhattans when we only had two. Our server, Kaytlin, who was amazing all night, was able to make good on us being overcharged at the bar and brought us another Manhattan without charging us. She was very kind, patient, and attentive which made our dining experience that much better. I started with the soup sampler for $6 (crab bisque, Maryland crab, and clam chowder) and all three I would have been happy with had I picked one and ordered a bowl. All four of us ordered deviled crab cakes (what The Crab Trap is known for) which came with two sides and a salad for only around $26. They deviled crab cakes are a must order. Two large crab cakes come in the order. The baked coating is crisp and provided such a nice crunch without getting soggy. It even reheated like it was fresh out of the oven the next day in the air fryer. To compliment the crisp coating, the inside texture was creamy and velvety. It was a perfect combination and I'd be hard pressed to order anything else for dinner next time I dine here. Our experience was great as always for my girlfriend's family and I very much enjoyed my first time. They do not take reservations but I'd have no issue arriving early, putting our name in, and sitting at the bar again while we wait. Everything about our visit was what you'd hope for when dining out. Fantastic food, drinks, and service. I'm already looking forward to my next trip back.

Yelp
I loved this restaurant and visited for many years with my husband and family. We always had excellent service and food. Unfortunately, I can't bring myself to dine at The Carb Trap after my last experience. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch in July after spending some time shopping in Ocean City. Our server must have been new. We had to ask where our soups and bread were. Usually they are brought out very quickly after ordering. She tells us oh they come out with your appetizer. She kept talking to a couple at another table for an extended time so we didn't order a second drink. Guessing they knew each other. We felt invisible. After getting our soups, appetizer and side salad we waited again for our meal. We asked and she said it was coming. Finally, she brought out my stuffed flounder but before giving it to me a man came up behind her and told her that was not mine. When she returned I asked if there was a problem and she said that she made a mistake and almost gave me the dinner size flounder instead of the lunch size. I ate it and it was okay. One of my sides was mixed vegetables which was mostly corn and peas. I decided to dump it onto my plate to eat it. I'm glad that I did. There was a piece of cardboard in it. That turned my stomach. I told our server and she acted like I put it there. Seriously, then she sent over a manager who also made me feel like I put it there. The best the manager could do other than apologize (which was not sincere) was offer a slice of banana cream pie. Which my husband and I shared at home and it was terrible. It lacked banana it was all cream. We won't be back!

Yelp
Best place in the area - BY FAR! There's always a wait, but this time our family went at 430 on Thursday and got in within a half hour. Service, ambiance, food, and cost for quality are far superior to most restaurants out there. I can not WAIT to go again next summer!!!!! As my aunt lives on the same street, I may have to make random trips out!

Bob J.

Yelp
Classic Jersey Shore seafood restaurant. If you are looking for spicy and new takes on seafood this place is not for you. Expect to wait a while for a table weekends

Robert G.

Yelp
Came here for lunch. Sat at the bar. Ordered drinks. Ordered Cobb seafood salad and a bowl of Manhattan clam chowder. Soup was very good with good flavor. Salad had shrimp and crabmeat along with everything a Cobb salad would have. Prices reasonable. Service was very good and nice ambiance.

Alex T.

Yelp
Another perfect special: Halibut with risotto and an old standby stuffed flounder that never disappoints. This kitchen just seems to know how to cook fish perfectly on a consistent basis

Amanda B.

Yelp
Everything was delicious but I would like to warn other families of a few things: first, if they ask you if you want a table or booth and you have kids.... Go with a table. We sat next to the band and couldn't eachother talk. Second, if you have kids you might want to pick another place. We came here to celebrate our daughters first night back from camp. We arrived at 7:00 and waited an hour for a table ( no big deal for great food) however, our food arrived at 9:15 and by the time we left it was after 10 and our daughter was falling asleep at the table. So the food was absolutely amazing and server was awesome... just be prepared to have some really sleep kiddos.

Retna S.

Yelp
I recommend coming here for lunch because it's not too crowded. Parking lot was crowded when I got there around noon because there were a lot of people at Crabby Jack by the water. The restaurant is big, the waiter and waitress are dressed in a formal black uniform giving it a classy ambiance Our waitress was super nice, big smile, very attentive. I had Bacardi mango breeze: sweet and not too strong, a very nice summer drink. Complimentary rolls were warm and soft Appetizer: tuna nacho was really good. Several deep-fried wonton topped with cabbage and medium rare tuna drizzled with wasabi sauce. Wasabi was mild but enough to give a flavor. Highly recommended. Lunch special: cod with shrimp Newburg. The order came with starch and veggie sides. I chose seasoned red potatoes and green beans. Both side orders were perfectly seasoned. The cod was perfectly cooked and with outstanding sherry mushroom sauce. My husband had turkey club with fries. The sandwich was huge. The fries was not thin but had a nice crust and not soggy. I will definitely come back

Dawn K.

Yelp
Great dinner with friends. I had the stuffed flounder with crab imperial. It was delicious. Large portion. All the food was good. Only issue was the drinks. Martinis need work.

Susan P.

Yelp
The crab trap has always been a place for me to take friends and family. The food is always amazingly delicious. The service is the best and the smile on the waitstaff warms your heart. The lively atmosphere is just the perfect amount of noise that isn't loud which is a perfect setting and the people around are friendly and you can meet new friends easily at the table near you. I love it here.

Rick M.

Yelp
Rude staff, bartenders who ignore, food bland. This restaurant used to be great. Have witnessed it slipping year after year. Not worth the long wait for seating or any distance to travel to.

Bj R.

Yelp
Food was wonderful. Steamed little necks and lobster puffs. King crab, seafood capellini. Halibut, prime rib. Children's chicken strips. All delicious. Fantastic service. Worth the 30 minute wait.

John C.

Yelp
This place is really good. The advertised crab bisque is indeed "legendary". You can usually tell how good a place is just from the starter bread they give you and the Crab Trap doesn't disappoint. We had a party of 11 and every dish we ordered was top notch. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for good food south Jersey shore area.

Dorithy Z.

Yelp
Very good service; extremely large portions. The Clams Casino were possibly the best I have ever had. Loaded with chopped clams, a meal unto itself. Next time I will get them for my entree!

Tony D.

Yelp
Went for lunch we usually go for dinner but did not want to wait on line .Lunch was not a good a dinner small portion and service was nog good .

Gordon L.

Yelp
Great place. Food was great. Had the flounder platter and it was just right. Flounder was fried crispy on outside and tender on the inside. Fries were ok, oil was old so the fries did not taste the best they could. Service was wonderful, with a smile and waitress was very attentive. Had to come all the way from Houston, Texas to get some good seafood. lol

Mac M.

Yelp
We are "regulars" ...that said usually the food is to our liking . But today we were disappointed ...the stuffed flounder had no flavor, we were told it was freshly caught ! If it was it did not taste fresh and the crab stuffing was very bland. The last several weeks the lunch specials have not been up to par either ...not sure what is going on ? ... We would love to see you add a pasta with seafood (crab preferably ) to the lunch specials and bring back some of those great soups ...lima bean , crab bisque , or pasta fagioli !

Jim L.

Yelp
This place is a bit pricey but their seafood is fresh and of quality. It's located in a convenient spot but the place is usually packed so parking issue is a bit their soup is on point too! We would definitely come back

Bob W.

Yelp
This place was not for me or my friend. It was very dark and the people serving were productive but not very considerate. My food was a pork chop which was very dry and tasteless, the mash potatoes were not fully mashed, and there was an excessive amount of sides. If you are coming with kids there is not a whole lot of kid friendly options. This place is heavily loaded with sea food options and not a lot of non seafood options. The food is made for a mature taste pallet and you will not find light foods here. My other two friends enjoyed their meal but also got seafood. If you like seafood this place is for you. If you don't want all seafood don't come here. UPDATE- I realize this place is primarily a seafood restaurant and that is not a problem. However, upon looking at the website there is no kids menu posted and when I arrived at the restaurant with my two friends they were glad they did not bring there kids as we saw there was no kids menu available at this restaurant that evening. If there was options I was unaware of them. I also find your response defensive and unprofessional.

Christina X.

Yelp
This place is great for cocktails and to relax with family from the boardwalk while on vacation. Service is excellent! The food is always what keeps me away as I feel red lobster has more flavor! Ordered clams casino which is their best seller according to their menu and it was a complete disappointment! Plenty of clams in it but didn't have any of the traditional breading and lots of butter. The clam chowder was delicious! The kids fried shrimp and adult entree left a lot to be desired. The shrimp were dry and over cooked with no flavor. My husband had the stuffed flounder and it was bland too. Been coming to ocean city for years and much rather be cramped in a room with no ac at Smittys than to come here! The price just doesn't match with the quality of food for me.

Linda R.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times and enjoyed it. Of course you could never get in on a Saturday night. They don't take reservations. And for some reason every time we go, they forget to bring our salads and we end up leaving with them. I don't understand how that happens constantly. But it won't stop me from going back. I do recommend their soups.

Clayton T.

Yelp
Absolutely great seafood joint. Be prepared to wait because this place is quite popular because the food and service is great while being a good value.

Olivia H.

Yelp
Impeccable service and food. This place is always busy and is worth the wait. We came for an early dinner and got the best appetizer - the clams casino. Our entres were great, fish was so fresh and flavorful, and you leave so full with all the bread sides and starches. I will always recommend this place!

Gerald K.

Yelp
Impossible to get seated without a 45 minute wait. Why go? The food is good. The crowd is overflowing JFK

Tracey K.

Yelp
Our go to place for special celebrations. Soup sampler is a must and clams casino. My favorite entree is the stuffed shrimp. Friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. Bonus is bar out back. Crabby Jack's is a fun spot to have a bite or cocktail while you wait for a table.

Jim S.

Yelp
The food was great as was our service! We stopped in for lunch and the restaurant was quite busy. The onion soup was great, as was the creamy crab chowder. The clams casino were really good. Their version of the bloomin' onion was delicious. We will come back again!

charles l.

Yelp
Awesome dinner. Our waitress Veronica was beyond exceptional. Perfect blend of professionalism and charm. We're still talking about how awesome she was a week later. Thank you!!!

Dave B.

Yelp
Always a steady good meal. You will fill up on the fresh blueberry muffins or steamy rolls. Always a generous portioned entree and desserts. Coffee ends a good time.

Robert M.

Yelp
Good food, good vibe, great drinks . Have been there with friends and family made great memories.

Brianna S.

Yelp
We have always heard great things about this restaurant so went for lunch (service was great - seated right away and our server was very pleasant and attentive.) The food however was subpar, the crab cake was mostly filler and a slimy consistency while the potato crusted salmon was just okay due to being pretty bland even with the Dijon sauce. The sides were also nothing to boast of. The onion blossom appetizer was also lacking seasoning/flavor and we left underwhelmed with no plans on going back anytime soon.

Christopher C.

Yelp
You have two different parts at play here. The menu is the menu and overall, this hasn't changed for better or worse in decades. Sure they add a special or two regularly and tweak a few things here and there but overall, the menu and the sides haven't changed in forever. The other part is where the issue is at. The service. Whether it's being understaffed or being so insanely popular that you aren't quality checking things, I don't know, but whatever it is, it's no bueno. Example 1 from this February: Two people at our table order the Creamy Crab Bisque and find an extra included ingredient of some bits of plastic in it. Within the next thirty minutes another table or two around us have the exact same problem. Eventually it was taken off the bill but the server's initial reaction was to ask if we would like to try another bowl and to hope for the best. Of course, it was meant to be a joke, but be real and at the very least let's just to get to the comping part. Example 2 from this past Wednesday: Place is very busy with two large parties, and they are quoting 20-30 minute waits at the host stand. When it comes time for the food to be brought out, one of the food runners comes out from the kitchen with the stuff for our table and the table next to us and does a dump and run at both tables. That's great except no sides were brought out. Just the main entree by itself. WTH?? Sure, the server eventually comped desserts for all involved but he also went unseen for over 15 minutes in between. Admittedly the crab cakes are still good and the Halibut special was also very good but if you guys can't handle the volume you are doing, either hire more staff or at the very least slow it down and quality check more of what's going out to the dining room because no one wants plastic in their chowder, and everyone wants the full meal they ordered. As I've mentioned prior, like many others I've been coming to OCNJ and to TCT for knocking on 40 years. The point being, I know this place. I visit a few times a year but after the last two visits, I think it's time for a bit of a long pause.

Anthony P.

Yelp
Here for a work trip and heard raving recommendations from locals. Swordfish with Crab Scampi was delicious. Generous portion and cooked perfectly. Sides and appetizers were great as well. Service was top notch. Quite a long wait to be seated, and a mixup with our call-back number, but overall very happy. We will be back.

Laura F.

Yelp
We went here for my Father's birthday and were totally wow'd by this place!! We got there early like the other reviews said, about 5:20 pm the whole party had arrived. My family loved the whole experience. From the warm bread and muffins, to the drink menu, to the entrees. The service was outstanding. You can tell this staff works well together. Robyn was a great server! Appetizer wise, we thought the stuffed onion ring would be better. It was just 1 big onion ring and you couldn't really taste it with all the crab. It was still yummy, but I wouldn't get again. We ate up the hot sampler and Jersey shore combo though. The soup sampler was good too! We all loved our entrees. I had one of the specials, the scallops which were EXCELLENT with the delicious risotto! I had a crab cake on the side to try it and actually was surprised at the hint of spice. I'm sensitive to hot (spicy) food so I didn't love the crab cake, but it was definitely full of crab and fried just right. The salmon was impressive, a very good size piece! And even the sweet potato with brown sugar was done so well! You can't leave here without dessert, and my Dad was so excited they had real key lime pie. The NY style cheesecake was perfect too! Robyn even remembered it was my Father's birthday and got the staff to sing happy birthday to him. A special memory we won't soon forget. We plan to come back here over and over agin!

Wow what a popular place! We got there at 11:30 & several tables & spots at the bar were already eating and as we sat there people continued to pour in. Bar service was not great - bartender had a very large bar to tend to and wasn't very good at paying attention or looking around to see if you needed something. Luckily someone else came on to help out at 12. Enjoyed the caesar salad with crab - very good. Wine pours were good as well. When in the area would stop in again.

Yelp
The bread and muffins both tasted like they forgot a few ingredients. We got the lobster balls and they were just.. strange- not bad but nothing good about them either. I had the Second Mate, all the broiled fish was cooked perfectly but the deviled crab and clam were mushy and kind of sad. It seemed like the wait staff kept forgetting about us, no refills and a pile of plates on the table. A couple times we had to ask the busboy for things because the waitress was at all the surrounding tables but never ours. We appreciate good food and good service but it was not what we found here. For the money there are plenty of other fantastic options in Somers Point. We have had a good meal at Crabby Jack's in the back so it was extra surprising to have such a bad experience here.

Yelp
The service was superb our server was Jacob and he was super friendly and was very helpful when I wasn't sure what to order. It wasn't crowded for a Memorial Day. Everyone was very nice! We were very impressed with the look of things. When it came to the food that was a different story. First we had appetizers coconut shrimp that was delicious the only thing was that the shrimp weren't cleaned well and to have the black poop on the back grossed me out. My entree was stuffed flounder. WTH mashed sweet potatoes. The flounder was super watery which tells me frozen not fresh. The stuffing was mushy not flavorful at all. I was disappointed. I didn't take a picture of the flounder I should have taken a picture of it. Stuffed Flounder and coconut shrimp

Yelp
The Crab Trap is a top notch restaurant! It has"casual elegance". The elegance comes from well-trained waiters who serve you as though you were VIPs...at least that is how our waiter, Andre made us feel! I ordered fresh flounder stuffed with crab imperial crowned with Hollandaise Sauce...Perfect!!! The sweet potato was the best that I've ever had. We were served a basket of fresh warm, blueberry muffins and dinner rolls...Yum! We checked in at 5:30 and received our text that Our table was ready by 6:00. What's not to rave about! When food and service is great...expect to wait ! Parking is tricky...drop off someone to check in, then patiently search around for parking...

Yelp
I can't tell you how much I love the menu at Crab Trap! Seems like it's been the only restaurant I go to and I live in Cape May Co with awarding winning restaurants but always choose CT! All the servers are great and so attentive especially Julie
