I came here on Sunday, pack and busy to say the least. The drinks were strong and delicious. The music was bumping. I'd like the try the other one to see if it's a better fit for me.

I have never in my Life felt so disrespected as I was on Tuesday morning by your bartenders. The punk Spanish guy and the black girl with the red wig. I don’t need to steal from no damn body for drinks. They Overcharged my card too which will be being disputed. And if I’m a drunk like you say I am I do it in my free time not on my JOB. So be careful when you insult paying honest patrons. Davenports has lost me as a customer of me forever !

Too many folks have found out about what used to be a cool discreet neighborhood hideaway. Now folks are spilling out the front door on to the Heat and Metro bus traffic onto lovely Richmond Avenue because it's so so trendy. An iconic spot is now ruined. No stars

Maybe the best drinks in Houston. Atmosphere was a mix of lounge and local watering hole. This is THE spot if you're getting your night started or looking to close out the evening with a strong finish.

If you're looking for a lowkey chill bar this is it! You can post up outside or find a nice secluded intimate table inside. If you're in the mood to be social they have a decent anoint of bar seats. This red light lounge has strong drinks, friendly staff and some good music. I wish they had better parking options. But I love a lowkey spot to grab a drink

This place is such a vibe! It's divey with an older crowd. Based on the clientele, one would assume that this is a Black owned business but it's not. The staff is so chill and laid back. They have good music playing, and it's not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Everyone already knows how strong the drinks are. I thought the drinks at the Clear Lake location were strong (and they are), but honey, one martini will knock you on your ass if you aren't careful. Consider this your warning. The martini menu is extensive. I had a Pitbull in the Skyy (vodka, grapefruit, lemon) and it was good. Against my better judgement, I decided to order an Aviation martini. I enjoy a good Aviation, but nothing could have prepared me for the potency of The Davenport's Aviation. The bartender (who I later found out is also the owner) said he didn't have the maraschino cherry for the garnish. I'm not a fan of cherries, so it wasn't a big deal. The drink was good, but the amount of booze in it was ridiculous. I needed help finishing it because I wasn't going to let a good drink go to waste. Needless to say, I apologized to my liver when I made it home. I've known about The Davenport for years, but I somehow missed the memo about the concert tickets. Shout out to my cousin for filling me in!

Nice chill place for drinks and a convo! The drinks are pretty strong and they have plenty of specialties to pick from. The service was really nice as they are not rushing there art as mixologist. It was a nice night to have intimate conversation both inside the location and outside on the patio.

A good spot to either pregame or just chill out and kick it with good people. I have reviewed this spot previously when I 1st moved here. If you are wanting a good martini this is a must to get it from here. It's not big you have bar seating and high table seating perfect size. Music playing,if you haven't experienced it make sure you put it on your list! Thank me later after you try a drink!

This is the spot if you need to step out for a good STROOOOONG drink and fun in a very casual environment. Not fancy by any means but welcoming and be yourself

Divey, no frills bar. Went for a late night drink after a concert. Demographic is older black group. They had good music, but it's low and sometimes hard to even hear over the conversations. They have a large cocktail menu, with a lot of martini options. As everyone has said, drinks are STRONG.

Cool spot, strong drinks, mellow vibe. Joseph the bartender is on point! To see drink menu, you need to scan QR code at counter, extensive menu with plenty of dope options. Highly recommend!

This place is always a vibe and minds the company it keeps. Definetly not a place for everyone yet everyone will feel Welcomed. Grown and sexy atmosphere. Drinks are pricey but they are strong.

I'm definitely not the target audience, the music was barely audible, my godfather was ok and missing the dark cherries. The patrons near us were very nice and offered us some space to sit. There was a waitress but I never saw her. If it wasn't my friend's birthday I would've left long before I did.

Davenport is a bar that was recommended by my friends for a while now. Finally, we had the opportunity to go as we were looking for a place to drink after we finished eating at Trill Burger. Upon arrival, there was no line at the door, which according to my friend, is considered tame. There were a lot of people inside though and it was pretty loud. Understandable, since it's a bar or a lounge so I was expecting the noise and the crowd. The ambiance and decor are great and the place carries higher end whiskies which I appreciate. However, that's where the good stuff ends. I ordered an old fashioned off their menu and was charged $14 for their well whiskey. My buddies ordered other cocktails on their extensive menu and they also complained that it was weaker than the norm. Maybe it's an off day for them? The part that surprised me the most is the 3% credit card surcharge. I have never been to an establishment before where they charge you 3% just for opening a tab with a credit card. There is no signage stating that they charge 3% posted anywhere in the establishment. Anvil. Roswells. Poison Girl. Little Dipper. Captain Foxhearts. Notsuoh. Catbirds. Boondocks. Julep. You get the idea. NONE of them charge a 3% credit card surcharge. Is this some new law in Texas that I'm not aware about that got passed in 2024? If so, then please let me know so that I can edit this part out. Otherwise, that is just blasphemy.

This is an old Houston staple. Every night they have great music and the stiffest, tastiest Martinis in the city. Every time we come to Houston we make sure we stop through. The weekdays are more calm but the weekend definitely picks up with great music and crowd. It's an older crowd I would say and never any rambunctious behavior.

Took my mom here when she visited me in Houston. Had cigars outside. Great lemon drops and good cigars. Good older/grown & sexy black vibe, good service. I would go back for sure. It's a bit small, but small is not a bad thing.

This is a nice dive bar with great affordable drinks! The bartenders are always so kind and welcoming. I would recommend this place for a girls night out or pre-date night spot. Parking is hard to find. There is a strip mall parking next door but I heard they tend to tow in that lot.

had a great time at this Lounge but i would NEVER go back to this establishment again!!!! our car was broken into and purses stolen out of our car along with so much other stuff. their security guard said this happens almost every day over here. I was so mad because 1) i would think that an establishment would at least post some type of alerts/awareness sign to let their customers be know. 2) the irish pub on the same block said they broke in their customers cars ALL the time sonSTAY AWAY from this lounge and this block!!! DONT go to The Davenport.

This place is a great neighborhood bar. Great drinks and the bartenders are awesome. Went on a Tuesday & Wednesday and service was great each time. Definitely will be visit again!

Drinks are great ! service is horrible ! second time we have been in and same bartender didn't even speak to us . it was not busy and he never said be with u in a minute or ask us for our drink or can I help u ? I remember him from the time before because he was so bad ! we ended leaving which is sad because I love the drinks ! y'all can do better !

This is a great place to meet some quality weirdo's while having a great drink! I ran out of words to meet the post minimum requirement.

So I finally made my way to The Davenport and I ended up loving it so much that I returned three times this month, lol. When they said the drinks were strong, they were not playing! Honey, I had a drink so strong I figured they could have just given me the entire bottle because WOW! I drink whiskey so it was definitely not a tolerance thing. I ordered a whiskey sour and it was all whiskey- no sour. Not complaining, just explaining. Now the place is dimly lit and packed. There is not much room to move around. If you want to dance, this is not the place for that. The Dave (yes, I gave the place a nickname!) is a social gathering type vibe. This is where social hour takes place. I don't know how well one can socialize though because you can barely hear. Haha Overall, the place is chill. The restroom did need some attention. The bartenders are really cool and nice. I know they are not stingy with that liquor and thats for sure. The Dave is a great place to pregame, two drinks and you are good to go to your next spot. Stop by!

Davenport is always my first stop on a night out. This guy right here is the best bartender! I always order a top shelf Whiskey Sour and it's always consistent and I never have to ask for a cherry! lol all the bartenders are good, but I literally look for this guy every time.

I went here with a friend Saturday night and we had a lot of fun. This place has a great vibe. The drinks are really good and the service exceeded my expectations for a bar. They also play good music and it's not too loud. Highly recommend this place for somewhere to hang out with friends.

I have been here for the last two weeks on Fridays to meet with a few friends. It located in the Upper Kirby area. They indulge in heavy pours and you will feel it after a drink or two. Its a not a very large place and they sometimes setup large tents out front in the parking area to accommodate the overflow. People start to arrive as early as 2 pm for their Happy Hour. Its a lively crowd and many are outside where you are allowed to smoke cigars. If you want to get right before you head out, this is the place to stop in first!

Bartender literally said he couldn't serve me because i'looked drunk" I hadn't even had a drink at all. He actually appeared to be drunk himself. I was very offended by this because I had brought friends who were visiting from out of town and they were actually digging this place until this happened. I will never return there. We were ready to spend money but Davenports loss due to their prejudging bartender. I will never recommend this place to anyone or bring friends back. Don't go to this place, bartenders are prejudging customers. VERY OFFENDED by this whole incident smh.

Davenport is a cool lounge that attracts a mature 33 and up crowd. The drinks were potent and bartenders skilled. Intimate ambiance with lots of professionals. A good vibe.

First off this is my first and last time here. Thought this place has great reviews about the cocktails and martinis here my experience does not match up. To have a bar staff member use DEROGATIVE words is not only an insult to me but to a huge community of people of color. Considering that most POC (people of color) keeps this bar afloat I would think twice about going back to this place. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. -10/10 Primera y última vez que voy a este lugar. Customer Service is not that great. Bartender over charged for drinks. Slammed the checks down and was not very friendly. When I come to a Bar I pay for the experience. That I did not get!

This is absolutely, positively a hole in the wall dive bar with class. In a great location. Seemingly safe. Not very big. Not a TV in the joint and yet, you will be entertained by good company, excellent bartenders and fantastic drinks! Isn't that the reason we go to dive bars in the first place? Knock out, slap your mama martinis and drinks with an excellent selection of bourbons and scotch at incredible prices. I'm always happy when I leave and return again to the Davenport.

I had a great evening here lastnight. It was a Thursday after work and it was a nice chill spot. Great drinks, a nice place to mingle. I noticed the average age is people in their late 30's + and up. If your looking for good music and a singles crowd this a good spot for that.

Double shotttts... whooopppp, whooooopp. Quaint bar with a chill atmosphere. Music is good, drinks are on point, which makes for a good vibe. Inside is fairly small, so if you get there late, dont look for a seat... There wont be any. But the strong drinks will make up for the hurting feet. Lol Parking is super limited. Read all street signs.

Davenport never disappoints....I usually am a woman of many words but have none for Davenport. Is it the old heads? The strong drinks? Or the music? The world may never know.

I wanna come back to this place and give it another shot. I'm writing this to remember my location. Tonight was PACKED on a Friday afternoon. Next time just Uber so u can get drunk. Yes I read reviews so I figured I would stop buy. The reviews are correct cool vibes respectful crowd. Only issue for me was it was small but ( very well maintained and clean) . The reason I left early is because there were WAYYY more men in there standing wall to wall. The ladies that were there looked very nice and sexy just not enough of them. Everyone holding there corner/ chair/ table ( hostage) TBH this is a spot you bring a date to drink wasn't big enough to really mingle around.

You will never find a better watering hole than this place. It's the gumbo of Houston night life. You're in the mix with Drs, Lawyers, and the street hustlers all coming together for one thing, those STRONG ASS DRINKS The ambiance is always nice and chill. My bartender Dan is always the best. I went recently and they have partitions up at the bar separating each two seats. They've put more sitting areas outside. With covid, it's nice to see they are take precautions. This used to be my little secret. I've been going for many years but since the word is out, I thought I'd give them the rave review they deserve. Tips: come early, there's limited parking in front. Park with caution in any other place because your car will be towed. Most times the officers will come in to try to find the owner before towing. Drinks are STRONG, so even if you don't taste anything, believe me it's in there!! So be careful. I've seen to many nonbelievers have to be carried out by their friends. Guys and girls alike. If you want a chill spot without blasting music, that you can dress up or wear jeans and a T-shirt, this is the spot. All are welcome.

Tried to get here, but there's extremely limited parking. Was told the strip mall area across the street is now a tow zone, think it maybe demolished soon. Streets are torn up all around. Not the business fault, but it sucks. Haven't been since 2020 and was really looking forward to a martini. Had drive to go elsewhere.

The BEST martinis by far! So many different flavors and all delicious! Definitely one and done though, they are super strong!

I randomly went to the Davenport one night while in the neighborhood. It was better than I thought it would be, to be honest. The bartenders were great, mixing up some good cocktails (I always appreciate a great mixologist). It isn't a very social bar. It seems like everyone sticks to who they are with. It is also very dark inside so maybe that's why too. It also gave date night vibes. Nevertheless, overall, it is a solid bar if you want to grab and drink and chill.

The best place to get a martini in Houston! And I'm not just talking your typical James Bond variety - the menu is huge! Patron beware - these drinks sneak up on you; their delicious flavors mask how strong they truly are! I love the lemon drop and pineapple martinis - they taste like candy. Parking is a pain unless you are lucky enough to snag a spot in the lot out front. The place gets packed so arrive early to get your drink on with easier access to the bar.

Favor drink spot hands down for more than 10 years. Please never go away. We love you guys. Jason is an awesome bartender. I met my husband here. Lol.

After moving to Houston, this is now my neighborhood bar. I always stopped by when I was here visiting, pre Covid. Post Covid they have someone at the door taking temperatures and they have set up plastic partitions at the bar and the remainder of the tables have been strategically placed to social distance, however now this presents a significant amount of open space that people can congregate in, although it's still ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like it was before Covid. So basically social distancing isn't being 100% enforced, although the number of people that can come in has been significantly reduced. Drinks are strong as hell as this is the home of the double pours. Most people come here before the turn up but I come here as my last stop. Prices are reasonable for Houston and the bartenders are friendly.

Coming from California we took a locals suggestion Low key little spot...ended our night with drinks (their menu is huge) and they were strong af!! Lol definitely would recommend

How many times can I update my review for The Davenport? I do it for the people! Wanted to give a special shout out to their COVID-19 precautions after my most recent visit. There are now partitions between every 2 seats at the bar. Really makes you feel like you're in a PPE bubble...in a good way. And with the onset of this virus, dare I say, Davenport is a bit more ... enjoyable??? There's no more huge crowds and waiting 30 minutes for a drink. While visiting this bar is still considered high-risk because it's indoors, their effort to make things a bit safer for everyone is appreciated.

I loved the atmosphere. So creative and engaging. It was my first time visiting and I wanted to try one of their Martinis(so many to choose from). Our bartender was Ashley!!! Ashley was on point with customers in front of her, on side of her, three rows behind me and she didn't skip one beat!!!! Drinks were so good. I'm a certified mixologist for fun, never did it professionally just private parties. Ashley did it effortlessly while looking fabulous doing it DJ, Artist painting live, and a book signing. My original review still stands. If you want a martini go here. I go in the afternoon because after 5 the place gets pretty packed. There are not a lot of places to sit besides the bar. The martini menu changed recently and a few of the old martini choices are gone but a few new ones have been added. I fell into a rut with Persephone's Sin...with the new menu I am branching out to a few of the new ones just to see if I can find something I like better. Here's my previous review: Martinis. This is where you go to have martinis. If you do not go here to have your martinis, you are going to be sad and die with regrets. The Davenport never changes. It is a straight up lounge. There is no dance floor, no TV, no trendy bells and whistles. It is a clean, well stocked bar with a menu of specialty martinis that will make any taste happy. I start with Persephone's Sin because it's my favorite. But you may be more inclined to order a dry or dirty martini without all the extras. Or a terrific Old Fashioned - they make a hell of an old fashioned here. The vodka selection is mind boggling. They gin choices are more varied than most any bar in town. Try Boodles...it's great! They have a full bar so you don't HAVE to have a martini but you should have one here. They are doubles...all their drinks here are doubles. And for about $12 you get a strong, well crafted cocktail. They have all the mixin's for all the classic cocktails here. And the bartenders know what they are doing, so you get a true cocktail. I have written several reviews for this place because I want to make sure you know the Davenport is still THE place for a good drink for a great price. Parking can be tricky but the lot across the street is often available for parking and they don't tow you. There is a small smoking area outside. Just be careful. After two you will find you don't feel tipsy. Then you will stand up!

Came here on a Friday for some after work drinks and boy.. There was quite a few people inside already super loud. And after I had my drink, I could see why.. The martinis are stiff!! But they're mixed well and they taste pretty good. Nothing fancy - just straight to the point. They have a ton of different drinks to choose from. I got the gummy bear and it was pretty good.. Definitely filled to the rim! The bar itself was dark and the furniture old. We sat outside on the patio facing a Main Street. There were a ton of people sitting outside facing us from the building side and was a little weird for conversation. Overall, average bar with fairly good drinks and if you plan on getting wasted, just have 2-3 and you'll be well on your way. 1 if you're a light weight :)
