"Dinosaurs in the Castro is a takeout-only operation that has bánh mì down to a science. What sets theirs apart is the bread—the thicker roll has a lovely toasted crust and is soft in the center. The sandwich is big, too. We usually go for the grilled pork that has a nice hint of lemongrass, or the one with excellent xiu mai-style meatballs in it. There are optional add-ons like pâté and avocado, but we’ve never had a reason to add them since the sandwiches are near-perfect as is. Also, don’t look past the fresh spring rolls—they’re some of the best in town. If you’re not in the Castro, Dinosaurs has other locations in SoMa and Lakeside, and outside of the city in Pacifica." - lani conway, ricky rodriguez, julia chen 1, patrick wong
"Dinosaurs is a takeout-only operation that has bánh mì down to a science. Once you enter the counter-service Vietnamese sandwich spot that’s roughly the size of two elevators, you’ll have eight bánh mì to choose from. What makes each sandwich stand out are the delicious meat and vegetarian fillings, and the thick and fluffy bread rolls. "The Ocean Avenue location of mini-chain Dinosaurs makes for a great grab-and-go lunch option, with affordable Vietnamese iced coffee, avocado milkshakes, spring rolls, and a good-sized banh mi stuffed with shaking beef, lemongrass pork, or spicy tuna." - Dianne de Guzman

"A favorite for sandwich-seekers on Ocean Avenue, Dinosaurs keeps two vegetarian options on its menu at all times. For $13.75 diners can score crispy tofu or roasted portobello banh mi at any of the business’ three San Francisco locations. Plus, the $13 tofu and taro spring rolls, complete with shreds of jicama and rice noodle, make a choice vegetarian side." - Paolo Bicchieri

"Sure, you can grab a banh mi for less than 10 bucks from the Dinosaur’s in the Castro, but sandwich insiders are here to say that the Ocean Avenue location is the cutest — tucked away in its own little sandwich cottage with a Dutch door that swings open. Step right up for sandwiches stuffed with roasted pork, pate, grilled chicken, or even meatballs, and wash it down with Vietnamese iced coffee." - Becky Duffett
