9 Black-Owned Bars In LA

" This Leimert Park/Crenshaw spot is the kind of place where you go wild and order a couple rounds of fruity cocktails called things like “Summertime” and “Pear Of Tits.” It’s a great place to come with a group of friends before or after a show at The Forum. Or you can spend the whole night here, drinking sneaky-strong hibiscus margaritas while taking down crab cakes, fried broccoli, or cajun shrimp fettuccine. It’s technically a restaurant during the day, but after the sun goes down, it feels much more like one massive lounge with 9-foot LED trees and an extensive R&B playlist. " - nikko duren

17 Spots to Sip Cocktails in the Los Angeles Area | Eater

"Plenty of outdoor courtyard seating makes this Crenshaw Boulevard gem the place to be on a balmy LA day (or night). Order a round of Hot Summer Nights, balanced with Grey Goose Essences Watermelon & Basil vodka, ginger syrup, watermelon liqueur, and fresh orange juice — it’s theatrically topped with a melon liqueur float. The menu is solid, from chicken and waffles at brunch to Cajun shrimp fettuccine for dinner. Don’t leave without the signature District Buttercake, topped with vanilla ice cream and blueberry compote." - Vox Creative

WHAT A VIBE!!! I loved the passing of the mic to sing! I ordered the chicken Alfredo non spicy. It had too much Italian/oregano seasoning. I would return!

Me and my wife were just in the area. First time here, the food & service was outstanding. We weren’t sure what to get, British helped us order. She took great care and made really DELICIOUS drinks. Not too strong & not to weak; just right my wife had at least 3 of her lemon drops.

Google
Food is good but can be pricey. I especially like their wings. I’ve never had a drink I like here, but maybe because I like a good margarita and theirs is just awful. If you like the Dizzle or basic well drinks you’ll be just fine. The music and vibes are good. Service can be quite slow regardless of how many people are there. Staff has always been nice.

First visit...we were a party of 20, celebrating a birthday. Our waitress "Star" was incredible!! Attentive, friendly...give that young lady a raise!! Food was amazing and signature drinks are very tasty. The music is great just wish the volume was a decibel or two lower, hate having to scream in order to talk. Overall, I will definitely return.

This was nice the garlic mashed potatoes was fire the catfish fire I must say all the food I had was amazing. It was crowded we made reservations however it was quite a wait but well worth it.

Came with a large party to celebrate my cousins graduation (Masters). We were split between 2 tables side by side (our choice as we didn't want the large table on the patio). The ambiance is hip and real nice. They had a live band which was a nice touch. As others have stated, the music is a bit too loud but the music selection was good. The food was amazing!!! Everything ordered was top notch, fresh, well seasoned, and flavorful. I was very impressed with the menu options we ordered. First, the crab cakes are a must have. I ordered one knowing I would want two. It was moist not dry and was a true crab cake, not the ones made with majority filler ingredients... it was so good, I ordered two more. I highly recommend. I also had the shrimp and grits which were delicious. I ordered mine with grilled shrimp but they do offer fried shrimp for those that prefer it. The grits were creamy, smooth and filling. My cousin ordered the Killer Cajun Fettuccine with salmon and it was seasoned to perfection. It had the right amount of sauce which I like (been to several places where I've had to request more sauce). The portion size was good... there was enough left over to take some home. We also had the salmon taquitos (unfortunately, I forgot to snap a pic before consuming... they were that good). Additionally, we had drinks. Due to drinking a lot the night before, I chose to keep it light with a strawberry pineapple mimosa which was refreshing. My cousin had a sidecar which was tasty. The service was good, I didn't catch our servers name but she did a great job attending to the group. The chef and owner even stopped by the table (my cousin knows them). Overall I enjoyed my first experience. Would definitely come back if I didn't live 2hrs away (SD). If I'm ever in the area, I will make it a point to visit again.

Nice vibe. Food delicious. Great staff. My waitress was Tasha. Went on a Saturday after 2pm. Not many people but enough. The music with some videos was playing on TV. It's just the right vibe to sway you side to side. I enjoyed myself.

Google
I loved The District. We went for a reunion event on a Saturday afternoon. The outdoor patio area was spacious and plenty if needing a few more umbrellas. The chicken and waffles were delicious and hot. The mimosas were plentiful and other cocktails were good as well. It is huge with tons of indoor seating options. Space and stage for a live band and insta-worthy picture ops everywhere. It is beautiful, tasty and soulful. I will definitely recommend and return.

Yelp
My friend and I randomly decided to finally try the District after an event we went to. We had heard of it before but never had the time to stop. We went on a Friday night, and it worked out perfectly. Seating was quick, our sever Emeril was sooo nice, and Vicky killed it on the drinks! They were so good! We couldn't have asked for better service, and we were skeptical after reading some of the previous reviews, but we had a fantastic experience! There's free parking there and you should park in the back lot since that's where the entrance to the District is. There is a security check at the door, and they have a dress code for men. The food was okayy, not anything incredible but not bad either. I actually did like their fried cauliflower more than I expected I would. But I'd say I'd really be coming back here for the drinks and screens. It's probably a great place to watch the games now that football season is back! Overall, I had a great time, and I will be back!

Yelp
Me and my family went here just to get out. I can tell you this the place has a whole vibe the music was playing and just had us in a mood that was unforgettable. The food and portions were great and not too pricey well that depends on what you order the services are top-notch they also have a dope entrance with a great backdrop you can take your pics in front of. I will definitely return It is good for a date night are just to get out and enjoy some time with your family.

Yelp
I had always seen the establishment when passing by, and finally decided to give it a try by ordering takeout. As we walked towards the entrance, we encountered two gentlemen with their backs turned. Surprisingly, the first gentleman immediately stopped us and inquired about our purpose for entering. It felt peculiar, but we responded by stating that we had ordered food to go. In response, he abruptly instructed us to stay there without providing any further guidance on whom to speak to or where to collect our food. Feeling a bit lost, we glanced around and noticed a random rack at the entrance, where we saw our food sitting. As I reached out to retrieve it, the second gentleman swiftly snatched it back, remarking that we couldn't just take his to-go orders. He proceeded to inspect the bag, read the receipt, and without uttering another word to us, placed the bag back on the rack. As someone who values first impressions and greetings, I found the aggression and lack of communication quite inappropriate and unsettling, ultimately affecting the overall atmosphere. If I hadn't already paid for my food online I would have just left. Overall the food didn't meet the expectations. The catfish we ordered was dry and the fry's were soggy. I also purchased the chicken Caesar and it tasted as if the chicken was old? Potentially made early morning or the day before and stored in the fridge.

Yelp
Location: near Baldwin Crenshaw Mall And I believe it's on the backside of Earle's on Crenshaw. The customer service was excellent. Our server Deja was very polite, professional, and guided us along on our first visit to order a fabulous meal. We will be back... The food recommendations were spot on and tasted so so delicious. Our table had sampled the menu!! lol We ordered Mac and cheese with shrimp, fried broccoli, Texmex egg rolls, House fettuccine (chicken, grilled blackened salmon), salmon with miso, rice and asparagus!!! Every thing was delicious. The ambiance was nice, music videos played great R&B and oldies but goodies to really set the mood!!! A really nice spot and there photos opportunity when you enter or leave. ** for weekend late night dining- call ahead for reservations. *Menus are scannable at your table.

Yelp
Good food and lively crowd always. Whether it's live or pre-recorded music, it's always a vibe. Sometime the music can be a little loud if you're just there to eat and chat with others. However it's a vibe, a little pricey for the type of meals however, it's LA. I'd recommend it.

Yelp
I'm beyond pissed at the level of fu*kery I recently experienced. Others and I have spent a good penny supporting this establishment to date. We've watched PPV boxing, other sports, brought out-of-state guests, watched live bands plays & never paid for tables or entry. EVER!! I made reservations on Jan. 5th to celebrate my birthday/Super Bowl (2/11). I called last Sat. to confirm. Shelly informed me that managers were meeting to decide if tables would be sold. I was asked to call back when a general manager was in. On Sun I spoke to Kenny. He ASSURED me my reservation would be honored. On Mon eve., Cori called. She quoted the price of a table, ~$200. Nope! She seemed a bit upset because Kenny didn't consult with her before "misinforming" me about my FREE reservation. Not my problem. Cori asked if I was interested in paying 1/2 price if it was approved. Again, NO! Why should I when it was FEEE to reserve a table on Jan 5th!! She said she'd call right back and never did. On Tues, I received a cancellation text. I called Cori and got no answer. So I began expressing how upset I was via text. First, management had an entire year, even months, to plan for this game. They did not. They could and SHOULD have honored all previously made reservations as a gesture of integrity. They would NOT! ZERO flyers were posted on social media about Super Bowl Sunday until Tuesday, well after my reservation was canceled and 30 minutes before I called Cori. Still, ZERO advertisements mentioned anything about purchasing tables. This is a perfect example of greed and low class business practices. Management would rather gain a few extra dollars for a once a year event than keep 6 customers who have lucrative jobs, returning to their establishment. My text was very clear that I would post a negative review with screenshots, names, and dates to show how this establishment lacked professionalism and did NOT stand on business. Icing on the cake: after all of my texts, Cori called to tell me that MY reserved table was no longer available. They would "accommodate" my friends and me BUT we'd have to come at 3pm instead of 3:30. Laughable! How about "accommodate " the party they sold the table to at the last minute. I was no longer interested in spending my money here or bringing in anyone else's. And MY people wonder why WE don't support them!! Smh

Yelp
Some of the worst customers service I've ever experienced. I use to visit the the GS and it was great but this ain't the same.

Yelp
We had a very nice Sunday brunch experience - I just wish I had gotten the wings instead of tenders! They looked perfect. The ambiance here is really cool - pretty backdrops for pictures and there is live music on Sunday - jazz. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly, service was pretty decent. The bloody Mary was perfect! I also had the deluxe chicken and waffles, which comes with potato hash and eggs. Everything was hot and fresh and tasted pretty good, but nothing I'd write home about. Portion sizes are pretty big and, again, the wings looked fantastic! I'd come back just for those.

Yelp
Okay, here we go. I request the G.S quite often and have never had poor service nor bad food. Here is my issue and the reason for the 3 stars. The day before the Women's NCAA finals we called The G.S to see if they would be showing the game; we were told yes. I arrived first. I was immediately seated and given a menu. About three out of the 10-12 televisions were on but none were on the channel that the game was coming on. I asked the person who brought me the menus of they were going to turn the game on, he replied , he didn't know and for me to ask someone else, as he pointed to a gentleman near the bar. I got the man's action and he came over to me. I asked him if they were going to show the championship game, his reply was, what game. I said the women's NCAA semi-finals he said I'm not sure let me go ask someone. He walked to the back of the restaurant like into the kitchen area. I assumed (there I go assuming again) he was going to ask someone about the game. I sat there sipping my water and looking at a menu for what seemed to be forever (because I was getting anxious because the game was starting) in actuality it was somewhere around 5-10 minutes. and the man never came back out. So at this point I threw in the towel, called Fridays they already had the game on and we went there to watch instead. I was extremely disappointed the way I was brushed off. If they said y want to show the game , then fine don't show it but dang they didn't have to be so rude about it . Although I was totally mad as heck at the point this will not stop me from going back. As I had already stated , the food is AWESOME!!!

Yelp
Let's talk about it!! finally got to scratch this bad boy off my bucket list! I had dinner here with my sister on a Friday and everything hit!!! And I mean everything! We ordered the spinach & salmon dip + Buffalo blast rolls as starters. Both were delicious and live rent free in my head, along with the premium dizzle cocktail! For entrees, I got the salmon burger and sweet potato fries and my sister got the catfish and grits, we tore that food up lmao! I hate to sound ridiculous but this will be my go to order bc it was that good! However, I will say my server was not the best but the food made up for it. Since I went on a Friday it was live just how I like it!! Will be back here for sureski (:

Yelp
The food here is mouth watering and the atmosphere is amazing with all around good vibes. Sometimes you can catch a live band performance and the crowd is laid back. The service here is nice

Yelp
Sigh. Everytime it's always something with this place. Food was horrid last night. I noticed multiple people sending theirs back to the kitchen. Not sure what's going on there. Our fries were literally like spaghetti swimming in oil. No crisp. No seasoning, nothing. Oh and then a fight broke out. This happens often here . It's definitely a gamble and my friend and I decided we've definitely outgrown this place even for a quick bite to eat. We asked the manager if someone could walk us to our car as we didn't feel safe and he said no. Ended up leaving and going to another bar that was much safer. On a positive note at least after 10 years the music got better. I don't know how many times we've come here to watch the "Stand Up" by Ludacris video playing among other early 2000 songs in a marathon YouTube video they have. Tony was also a good bartender. There are way better places with way better food we will be supporting

Yelp
I've been to The District a couple of times. The food is okay. The fried items are greasy but the flavors make it tolerable. The service was slow. The music makes it a pleasant spot to hang out and socialize. Cute decor.

Tamala N.

Yelp
I've been to the District a few times and every time the stars get lower. My cousin had a late lunch here and ordered butter cake to go. Got home and it was more like a pound cake cupcake with no icing and a scoop of ice cream. I hate when small businesses up charge for trash. It was $14, which isn't a problem when it's worth it. CPK is $9.99 for much better (even cold and day old) for a larger portion. What ever you do when you go don't get the butter cake. Waste of money. I tried half before the photo and didn't bother with the other half.

Yelp
Order a salad, 40 minutes later, still waiting. They said that they were switching shifts

Yelp
This was my first visit since they remodeled Crenshaw Live and it's now The District by GS. The decor is wonderful, the Staff is warm and welcoming. I was impressed that I like the chicken strips, since normally I don't order those out. Our server, a gentleman affectionately nicknamed "Big" was great!! We had a party of about 25 that had a few arrival time changes and he was happy to accommodate our schedule. My only concern was they were short staffed. "Big" advised us of this upon our arrival. He asked for our patience and understanding. It was no problem for us, he and his staff worked diligently to accommodate our party and two other large parties.

Das H.

Yelp
My friend and I met here to watch the Cowboys game. When we arrived, the Rams game was on all the TVs. I asked if they could put the Cowboys game on, and the guy said we needed to wait until someone arrived ( it was already after 130 pm). When this person arrived, he told me only one game was going to be showing because it was on a regular channel. WTF? Why wouldn't this establishment have cable with the sports packet. This is unbelievable. We also waited for 40+min before we could get someone to take our order. The server was nice and accommodating. The wings were good. I doubt if we will return for Sunday football. rather spend Sundays at a bar that has multiple games showing and the sound as well.
google avatar

Dana D.

Yelp
arrived at the District at 7:30pm. Pretty easy experience coming in. My friend and I were apart of a larger group sitting at a table adjacent to our party. Upon sitting, we given water. For the next hour, no waiter came to our table. I flagged down several waiters asking for service. I was told by one server let him serve another group and he would return and take our order. After 25min, he returned to take our order. What we wanted to order is no longer on the menu. We were also, told no matter what we ordered it would take an additional 45min. This is unacceptable. This is not the first time i had this experience at The District. Try 3rd experience. It is so unfortunate that black people come into our community and exploit hardworking people attempting to enjoy themselves. I placed an order. At this writing, i have not I received it. 1 star

Yelp
I absolutely love The District by GS! The turkey burgers are juicy and flavorful, the lemon pepper wings are a must-try, and the premium dizzle is to die for. The vibes are fantastic, especially with the live music setting the perfect mood. Don't miss Taco Tuesday--it's a highlight of the week! This place is amazing for great food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere. Highly recommend checking it out!

Yelp
Thank you, Taylor (little Betty Boop ‍) for the awesome service last night!!! We enjoyed our food which is ALWAYS delicious!! I had the miso salmon for the first time and hubby enjoyed the strawberry salad.

Yelp
I've been to The District quite a few times. This particular day was on Easter. The food here is soooo delicious. If you go you definitely have to start off with the lemon pepper fried broccoli. A MUST. The buffalo blast eggrolls was bussin. My favorite dish here is anything with their salmon. Today I got the fettuccine which was chefs kiss. Filling portions with 2 slices of garlic bread. My mom ordered this grilled shrimp dish with rice and mushrooms omg it was sooo good she digged in before I could snap a pic. I'm ordering it next time. Also, we got the salmon chowder it was delish! (Not pictured) Server was very friendly and attentive. Ambiance definitely a vibe with live music. Parking in the back parking lot The only thing from visiting multiple times; sometimes they accept walk ins sometimes you need a reservation. it's best to just make a reservation ahead of time.
google avatar

Yelp
The district is always a vibe Making reservations beforehand is always best as it can get busy during Happy Hour & weekend brunch. Portion sizes are always good, prices are decent & drinks are pretty strong.

Yelp
Tik Tok made me come here! I was in LA got a few days and decided to come by and check out the hype. We were standing outside for about 10 minutes because the ID card reader didn't work, only to be taken in after that and waited another 15 minutes to be seated with a reservation. The restaurant ambiance is very nice. They have picture areas for cute photo ops, TV's everywhere, very nice open bar area and they had a DJ. The DJ was very interactive with games and conversation while everyone was eating. Our server came over shortly after to take our order. There are no refills on drinks, even soft drinks. So be prepared to spend about $4 each time you want a refill on a 16 ounce soda. The presentation of food was nice. My salmon taquitos were good, the impossible burger was overcooked but edible. My sister had the Cajun pasta and she said it was very good, seasoned well and not too spicy. It's a nice restaurant overall for the money and food.

Yelp
I stopped by after a funeral on a Friday afternoon. The place is neat looking and inviting. After they scanned our IDs at the door they seated us right away. I ordered the premium dizzle to sip on...I should have stuck to the water. The drink was super sweet and warm on bottom. I would not recommend it. For food I ordered the miso salmon with mashed potatoes. The menu clearly states that the dish comes with rice. Mashed potatoes substitute is 7$ more. When AJ took my order I asked for the mashed potatoes she stated "the dish comes with potatoes but the rice substitute is extra". When the food came out she brought RICE even though I specifically asked for mashed potatoes which means at the time of the order she ignored my request. I requested they take it back. She took the dish back and said "I apologize I was misinformed". I waited a while for the new plate to come out. So long my brother had finished his jambalaya already. When it came back the fish felt almost undercooked and had a cool/warm temperature. There was less asparagus in the plate and overall not he best. The glaze is thick and very sweet. Which was ok, but I thought it would be a lighter sauce not this type of glaze. She still charged us extra for the mash even though it was her mistake and she admitted it at the table. I thought the proper way for this to be handled would be to comp the additional charge. After spending all morning at a funeral I didn't have the energy to go back and forth with her about her mistake. Servers need to do a better job of understanding their own menu... I hope they make a better effort to make things right.

Yelp
Disgusting. The inconvenience and don julio anejo price like we're in West Hollywood and they DONT take APPLE PAY! Are you serious? $25 for one shot! $50 double shot it's not even 1942 it's don julio anejo bro ! It's cute in here but I mean like... the serviceeeee? Check my photos. How you got the scan code bar menu and don't accept Apple Pay? I'm really stuck on this right now or maybe these drinks just strong and I'm drunk as hell.. but like... dayum!! At least the server helped us by letting us send the payment in an alternate method... I've changed my stats from one to theee stats because of this... I guess I'm just really drunk .. but I really do appreciate this place I guess, I have personal emotional issues with some songs -but I'm not DJIng . Idk. Omg I'm so drunk. Ok maybe 4 stars because the jobs is done ...like the drink is kicking in more and more before I can even finish my review... Thanks Jordon Gu wow. Matter fact ... This shot is delicious as F*** like I can't I believe I was in such a bad mood when I first came in here now I realized I forgot I'm too abundant in life to complain about my favorite shot price and this place is getting prettier and prettier inside as time goes by.

Yelp
First and foremost, the atmosphere was just amazing. From the live band to the flickering decor on the walls, I knew the venue would be one to remember. The customer service was pretty chill. The waitress was really friendly and helped to let us know about the good choices we made for food. The food and drinks came out in a pretty fast manner, although it filled tbe table up pretty fast haha. Ok so the food: Starters: - The District Crab Cakes: The crab cakes were plenty flavorful and while not maryland crabcakes, they still were deserving of their name. Solid (4/5) - The District Taquitos (Salmon): The salmon taquitos were soooooo good, I only wish there were more to eat. (5/5) -Truffle Mac and Cheese: It's everything I could ever want when I think of truffle mac. (5/5) -Fried Lobster Tail: Packed full of flavor and the breading was really good. Definitely my favorite dish of the night. (5/5) -Dizzle on the Beach: was good and tasted more like juice but felt a little light with Alcohol (3.5/5) -Pear of Tits: A solid strong drink that tasted really food (5/5) All in all I want to go back here as soon as I can. It was a really nice way to end my weekend and I'll definitely tell all my friends.

Yelp
First timer here Let's start from the beginning- I arrived around 8pm - I was carded to enter which I thought it was restaurant but I assume it's a club because they card you. Food was really good. Service was not so good. The waitress never came back and u had to look for her to pay.

Yelp
The district is a restaurant with great food. If you know the owners then you know the cocktails and kitchen are amazing. They typically have a DJ or live music which is a nice touch. Unfortunately they don't air any basketball or football games. That was disappointing because they have a lot of tvs ... but. I understand they don't want this spot seen as a sports bar. Over all it's a nice vibe. And the food and drinks are amazing so I'm always going to stop by when I'm in town

Jenesha J.

Yelp
I had to come here because it was a birthday party. I was a little late, but I end up going at a table by myself and I had ordered the fried broccoli and chicken taquitos and the broccoli tasted like flour. Chicken taquitos was hard. The stuff came up like $50 but when I got home the next day it was $65 taken off my card I'm just not coming back. Some of the employees were rude so I will not be coming back. I tried to support black dollars dollars but it's hard because of how they treat you when you do support them coming from another black person I'm gonna pass.

Yelp
Food here is terrible. Also customer service is bad. They are very short staffed and just lack customer service and good food. But the music is good drinks are good but are water down. I personally think they have some growing to do. Food portions are small and food is expensive. What happen to hospitality?!!

Yelp
It's always a pleasure to go to The district I love their mac and cheese with the fried shrimp on top It's my number one go to at all times

Yelp
Well well...I didn't realize my reservation was at the one on hope at and we were on Crenshaw. Needles to say the lady was very nice and accommodated us(she didn't have to) and I'm was grateful. We were up from Oakland and it was our last stop before the drive home. The food was so good. I ate the rest of my burger at 3:42 in the morning haha. I like the live DJ and everybody singing and eating. If you're looking for soft and quiet this isn't for you. Go sing, watch a little sports on tv but also get ready for some good vibes. Waitress was hella nice and on top of our needs. Y'all can do separate checks if u must. You must go cause I said :)

Yelp
Popped into this spot for takeout tonight and it was pop'n 10 out of 10. My homie and order the lemon pepper chicken wings, a salmon burger, crab cakes, fried cauliflower, the fettuccine with grilled chicken (this was so huge ). At first I thought the price point was too much but this is adequately priced for portion sizes. The service was quick too. We ate this too quick before we had a chance to snap photos. Check this place out. We opted for takeout cuz ain't nobody got time for a dress code. I'll be back!

Yelp
Just came in this Saturday. Poor Customer Service. We received a table and waited over 30 min to receive someone to take the order. This the Second time i have came in and had to depart. Great food. Work on your Customer Service and taking the Customer order at the Table. So upset and dispointed my family came from the funeral service across the street.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place only having NFL game in the morning per management report. This bar could be a GOLD mine in the community but poor management Male GATE keeper's staff driving their own agenda not ensuring the Company makes money so everyone EATS . Multiple people left the location and spend money with other Bars . FYI: stop having people wait outside to be seated and finally enter the G district and it's multiple tables available Hopefully you can put in some corrections or the possibility of going Out of Business. The Goal of a Business is to make Money FYI: food good

Yelp
I went to The District for lunch. When we walked in we were seated right away. The place is really cute and a good place to take pictures. The food was not at all what I expected. None of us liked our food, I think the best thing I had was the spinach. The spinach is an up charge but they only give you two spoonfuls. The salmon was the thinest piece of salmon I've ever had, I assume they split one piece into two but only gave me one piece. The Mac and cheese looked delicious but after I ate a couple of bites it had a funny taste. No one at the table liked it. The egg rolls had an off taste as well. Service could have been a lot better. We ordered dessert and it took longer for the dessert to come then it took for our appetizer and entrees. I am sure I will never go back and disappointed that the food did not meet our expectations. There's a parking lot in the back but the spaces are tight and it was kind of hard to find parking. There's also parking on Crenshaw.

Yelp
I have dined here several times before, but today was exceptional! When I arrived I was greeted by the very charming and handsome manager, Myron who formerly managed G|S Lounge Inglewood. Although I had no reservation, he told me that a table would be available once the rest of my party arrived. He came out to check on me thrice before my friend arrived. We were seated right away and our server took our order. She kept a positive and gracious attitude even we kept ordering more drinks, food and even a table change because another friend joined us much later. Myron came to check on us before dessert and found a new table to accommodate our additional guest. The restaurant is beautiful, the restroom was clean, and the staff pleasant. We both ordered the fried salmon and grits, chicken wings, virgin mojitos, and butter cake. Everything was delicious! The virgin mojito was outstanding...wow! Albeit, it was way overpriced @ $16. That butter cake should be the first thing you order because you'll want to eat the whole thing before getting full off food. It was decadent, not ridiculously sweet, and will definitely satisfy your dessert craving. The sexy saxophonist was so very entertaining. I didn't catch his name or number ;-) He played some classic Michael Jackson, old school jazz and R&B and more current songs including an Afrobeats tune. He really engaged the crowd and wooed the ladies with private serenades at each table. I will be going back very soon.

Yelp
I went here for the first time a few days ago. I love the environment, decor and the fact it was really clean. We were seated quickly. Before I ordered I did use the bathroom and it was really clean and smelled nice like air freshener was used. I first ordered the premium drizzle. My cousin said it was really yummy and strong! We made sure they put all the top shelf alcohol in it too. Well when we got it, it taste like Kool-Aid....no liquor was in that drink. I drunk it in about 3 swallows. My cousin taste hers and she dislike it and made a complaint to our waitress. She said it was not made right and had no flavor. The waitress responded and said that the bartender followed the recipe and then disregard the fact we were unhappy and asked if we wanted any appetizers....smh.. The drink complaint was open and closed unfortunately. The food. I ordered a Ceasars salad, deviled eggs and the shrimp and grits. Everything was okay but the salad was the best for me. For some reason the salad was so fresh and yummy. The deviled eggs were okay and I probably won't order that again. The shrimp and grits had an interesting textured...I tasted butter and cheese and it seemed like the grits were whipped ..... it was good but the texture is something I wouldn't want again. All in all it was a nice first time and I would go again and try something else off the menu. As for drinks ummmmmm hopefully I can get a bartender with a heavier pour of alcohol next time.

Yelp
Came in for Sunday brunch and was beyond satisfied with my experience! Had the fried shrimp deviled eggs and the catfish and grits ... both were delicious! Would highly recommend the deviled eggs for an appetizer and the shrimp and grits were a good entree selection. I was a little disappointed by the size of the catfish, was like a nugget but the flakiness and flavoring were perfect. The drinks were also good and the champagne wall was a cute touch! The service was great! Shelly was our server and took great care. Also loved the live music, saxophonist and the DJ were both great. Wasn't a brunch party atmosphere but a nice brunch with some music to accompany the good food and great ambiance.

Yelp
Loved my dining experience here! Came here with friends to catch up over dinner. I ordered the Drizzle drink which was pretty good. I got the catfish plate and it was delicious! We also ordered the Buffalo blast egg rolls and I loved them. Everyone loved their food. Everything we ordered was bomb. What I loved best is it's black owned and filled with black people. Amazing vibes, and cute decor. I'll be back for sure since I heard brunch is great as well.

Yelp
Food was excellent! I loved the catfish and fried broccoli! I tried taking my siblings on Saturday, but their hours changed from 11:00 AM to noon. We had gotten there a little before 11:00 and we didn't wait because we live in the Inland Empire. They need to update their hours on Google maps.

Yelp
Visited the District last week, the food was good, and our waitress was quick and attentive. However, I will say the greeter was quite rude, & if we weren't in a rush we would not have followed through with eating there. Outside of the gentleman seating people, the ambiance was nice. Most likely won't be returning though. Bad service is a deal breaker for me.

Yelp
The District by GS is a great spot to brunch at in Los Angeles. The vibe was great. There was a live musician playing a saxophone. It felt classy and welcoming. Also, prior to entering the venue you are searched by a security guard, which was okay. But, the only problem is they have a strict dress policy that they don't have listed on their Yelp or Webpage when you reserve. They should let customers know before hand. Albeit, the food was soooooo good. We had the shrimp and grits, salmon and grits, waffles and lots of other food. Everything was a hit. The portions are large. We were greeted with a mimosa from the champagne wall. The pineapple mimosa was fabulous. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
Server Tzaddi A. gave below poor service. They got my order wrong although I specified numerous times that I am a vegan and want a vegan burger with a vegan side salad which they confirmed. It was unfortunate because the hosts/security and bartenders did a great job! The food when it came out the 2nd time was delicious. My partner had to eat his meal before me because we didn't want it to get cold and had another event to attend to afterwards. It was Valentine's day so I had to make my order to go which was not ideal so we wouldn't be late. I will say that the bartender/manager Shay really handled the situation perfectly. They listened to me, made the adjustment as quickly as possible, updated me and was able to make it a rush and to go. They offered me another drink and was able to adjust the bill. Tzaddi on the other hand really left me with a terrible experience, when they saw that I spoke up, came to my table and said "you sent it back", no, "did the order come out wrong" or "is there anyway that I can help". So unprofessional! They did not check up on us not even once after my order was delivered incorrectly due to their incompetence. We still tipped 18% because it is curtesy however, it nearly ruined Valentine's Day. We will visit again because Shay really saved our experience and helped me feel a lot better. The atmosphere is very clean and comfortable. The crowd is diverse and family friendly. The food was really delicious! I hope our service is much better from the very beginning next time.
