10 Restaurants to Find Delicious Beignets in Southern California - Eater LA

"Dive Oyster Bar’s menu is a leap into seafood-heaven, where fish boils and jambalaya are solid choices. As are the beignets lean towards a fritter consistency. Of course there’s powdered sugar galore, but also a homemade mixed berry compote for dipping." - Mona Holmes

Dive Oyster Bar is the ultimate spot to chill with great vibes, a cozy nautical dive vibe, and top-notch service. Whether you're there for a happy hour hangout or a full meal, they've got you covered! I'll always be here for their happy hour specials. Here's what we devoured: - Fish 'n Chips - $11.50 during happy hour; so crispy and filling! - Hot Cheeto Mac & Cheese - $10 during happy hour, very decadent and creamy! - House Specialty Pan Roast - the happy hour version is only $10 with grilled cheese! this dish was very flavorful and was loaded with seafood and protein. - Clam Chowder Bowl - the happy hour version is only $7 (no bread bowl). Super creamy and delicious! I love this spot--great service, immaculate vibes, and quality food at reasonable prices! It has everything you need for a perfect dinner out with friends. Pro tip: make a reservation on Open Table beforehand because it can get busy.

Fun place, great menu...we could have tried every single item. Bacon wrapped shrimp and pan roasts are incredible. Friendly service. We had reservations for a Saturday evening.

This place is like a a little higher end version of boiling crab with lobster roll, pasta clam chowder and all other seafood options...WITHOUT needing to eat it with hands. Food is great. The lobster dishes are market prices so make sure to ask for the price that day. Service was friendly and fast and they made sure we got the help when needed. I went in the afternoon and there werent alot of people so it was more quiet. Not so sure about night time. Parking in a bit difficult unless you park underground. Will come again!

I recommend this place to anyone who craves oyster / mussels. My favorite is their soft shell crab, fried oysters, and fries with mussels. Lobster roll in my opinion is just okay. Loved the foods, and atmosphere. The service was a little slow, but all seats were packed during the time, so it was understandable.

I ordered the house pan roast. The seafood in the dish had a frozen taste to it; an immediate turn-off. My friend ordered the clam chowder. It had shrimp in it which was different. She liked it. The drinks were decent. I had the Lychee martini. The oysters were delicious, especially the Kumamoto. The service from our waitress was mid. If I return, it would be for the oysters and the drinks only.

Google
Cajun lobster pasta cost $56.50 and features a whole lobster. The lobster was beyond overcooked where the tail meat was tough and chewy. The cioppino had two crab claws that were also overcooked. The cioppino had quite a few shrimp, couple octopi legs, calamari, and white fish. Steam mussels and clams were tasty in a garlic butter sauce. Heavy Italian seasoning was used for all three dishes. The oysters were served with horseradish. The meal was disappointing because the crab and lobster were way overcooked. Stick to just the oysters, mussels, and clams and you won’t be disappointed.

Went to this place for happy hour, and it was an unhappy experience. The food was fine. The sangria was not worth it. Then we got the check, on the menu the oysters are $2 each, on the check it’s $2.50 each. We asked the waitress about it, she said they ran out of the $2 ones and the ones we got were $2.50. She didn’t tell us about it when order it. Then on the receipt it shows $2.5 each for a dozen is $35. That’s obviously a scam, $2.5 each a dozen would be $30. We asked the waitress about it, and she said her friend died, very sad. Eventually they fix it, but it took them about 15 minutes. No reason to go back to this place. If you plan to go to this place, make sure you carefully check your receipts!

If you’re craving creole cajun Louisiana flavors, this will hit the spot. Service is wonderful! They’re so sweet and kind. Very attentive and helpful. The steamed clams and mussels were really good. The broth with the bread, so yummy. Texture of the shellfish was great, well cooked. The chowder was super flavorful, a must get. We would do it without the bread bowl next time though. Shrimp and grits - get them. Just order them. They were so good. Perfect cheesy grits with the amazing sausage flavors and plumb shrimp. Soo good. Fish and chips were actually good. Fish was fried nicely. Not a greasy taste. Love fries like this, where they have the crispy coating on the outside. Cajun lobster pasta was my favorite dish of the night. Would absolutely eat this again! Lobster was slightly a workout to get all out, but all together the flavors were so great and well seasoned. Bouillaroast was as expected. Seafood in it was cooked really well though! We were so full but managed to taste the beignets, would skip them next time. The bread pudding was really good though, it was warm and tasty! Parking - big free parking lot and garage for this huge strip mall plaza. You just gotta walk around the corner to find their front doors

Yelp
My family and I always love coming here for their house pan roast and roasta! We started with the Chowder Frots (Fries and Tots) and it was DELICIOUS! Truly an excellent appetizer, it was cheesy and the chowder added a nice touch to the crunchy fries and tots. The House Pan Roast was phenomenal! It was savory, creamy, and included lots of seafood. I loved my roasta, the pasta was excellent and the mussels were very fresh! The staff were very friendly and speedy. The interior is cutely decorated with an ocean theme. There's lots of big tables for large groups too! FYI don't skip out on their $1 happy hour deals!

Yelp
Service was good. The servers were polite, gave prompt service and didn't hover. We ordered - Bacon-wrapped shrimp: Overcooked. - Honey habanero wings: The coating on the wings did not hold the sauce well so we kept dipping it into the sauce. The wings themselves had no flavor. The sauce was meh. Not sweet or hot. - House pan roast: The dish came out warm not hot. I don't know why that weird me out. The flavor and seasoning was light. We ordered Hot (8/9) for the heat level. It was more of a 3. It was creamy with plenty of seafood. The sausage tasted like the cheap ones you get from the supermarket. No bite to them. Overall, it was an ok experience. It's worth a try, if you need some pan roast before you can go get the Vegas version. I would come back for the happy hour.

Yelp
Hot Cheetos truffle macaroni and cheese - foodgasm. A MUST! If you love Flamin' Hots and all the mentioned ingredients you'll love this. Clam chowder - Clam chowder is really good. I liked it a lot. Roasta - It's like their pan roast, but served with pasta instead of rice. Pan Roast - Pan roast typically takes a while to be made perfectly and here it's okay. It's more tomato based. Not memorable for me, but still good. The service is good and there's plenty of parking in the plaza. Overall I'd come back here for the truffle macaroni and cheese.

Yelp
We came here for the cocktails and oysters, and we left happy with just that! The oysters were very fresh, and I loved the cocktail sauce with a dollop of horseradish. They had two types of fresh oysters. Kumamato with a deep-cupped, petite meats, have a mild brininess, sweet flavor, and a honeydew finish. They are my favorite West Coast oysters. I forgot the name of the second one - it's more meaty with more fishy finish. The specialty cocktails were great! I had the Lychee Dream, Absolute Pear Vodka, Lychee, and Vanilla. Paired perfectly with oysters. The place definitely has a dive bar feel. Dim lighting, live DJs with TVs showing a football game and lively crowd. Our server was very attentive. I'd be back for a full meal next time I am in LA. The fried oysters and mussels fries have me drooling. Parking can be tough. It's a very busy Plaza with many restaurants and eatery.

Yelp
This place is always busy & has a wait but I can see why! The drinks are so good, I think I've tried every specialty drink on the menu & their oysters are so fresh! Every dish I've ordered here has not disappointed It's a good place to hang w/ friends for happy hour or just share a meal & talk. It isn't too loud but it is bustling w/ people having convos & laughing :) I will definitely be coming back w/ my friends

Yelp
Been coming here for years and still a solid spot to get pan roast in the 626. We were here for DineLA a while ago and got to try many dishes--brussel sprouts and chowder frots were both very tasty and good appetizers to start the meal. We also got the pan roast and fried chicken po boy which are just as delicious. Their beignets are good but can't beat Disneyland's. Service was lacking though and they weren't even busy; we had to flag the server down multiple times and had to ask for water after we ordered food.

Yelp
Pan Roast for dinner in Temple City, Los Angeles, California... My friends and I were going to eat somewhere else, but it didn't work out. Our friend, Rose, suggested The Dive Oyster Bar... because it's one of her favorite places. She said that sometimes she really craves for Pan Roast... and it's on her way home after work... okay! Let's go! The free parking at this shopping plaza can get busy at peak hours. There's more underground parking! Located at Camelia Square, look for the Soaring Teapot landmark to find the main entrance. Inside, enjoy the cool decor and friendly, efficient service! Our server said that there's no "zero spiciness" because it's already in the sauce of the Pan Roast. She encouraged me to leave out the sausage, and they'd put more seafood in my dish. It turned out to be a tad bit spicy - I ate all of the rice to balance out the flavor. The seafood (crab, clams, shrimp, and mussels) was fresh and delicious! I'm glad that we got a chance to dine together and chat! If I want Pan Roast again, I'd come here because we don't have Pan Roast in Honolulu anymore, and the lines are too long in Las Vegas!

Yelp
For starters, this place is hardly a dive! I simply crave the Seafood specialty pan roast, which is cooked with mini steam kettles. The owners have successfully brought their vision for Southern Creole food to Temple City. This is exactly what this area needs to give diners more options when going out for lunch or dinner. Some of the highlights are: -Cioppino, which is filled with succulent shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels, crab legs, etc. -Pan roast choices are Chicken & Andouille sausage; Shrimp; or the House specialty (blue crab, clams, mussels, sausage and shrimp). All served in a rich tomato based sauce. -Gumbo another traditional Southern dish in a roux broth with shrimp, chicken, sausage, okra and rice. -Jambalaya very traditional made with sausage, shrimp, and calamari. Its base is rice with herbs and spices. Very filling and delicious. Spice levels are: Mild, Medium, Hot or Habanero. We didn't try the Cajun Lobster Pasta, Lobster Roll or Po Boys (catfish, blackened chicken, shrimp, Andouille sausage, or soft-shell crab), which gives us an excuse to return! Parking is free, but limited in the shared lot. Not to worry, there is an underground parking structure (also free). You can order online for pickup at your convenience. Don't forget to tell'em that Rosemary sent ya!

Yelp
A lively little spot posted up here in Temple City, CA. Amazing food, libations, service and ambience. We started out with some drinks and appetizers. Apps: We had the bacon wrapped shrimp, which was to die for! Libations: I had the Siren's Song and my best friend had the Paradise Punch. Our husbands had the Tokyo Old Fashioned. These drinks were well made and soooo good. Food: Fried Shrimp Po'Boy, the Shrimp and Grits, the Gumbo, the Lobster Roll, the Dive Clam Chowder and the Chicken Po' Boy, it was a hit! Everything was delicious. Nice presentation. Quality meats, fish. Generous portions. And above all, tasty and so so delicious! Let me tell you. We have been all over the world and have had our share of good food. When I tell you this was some of the best creole food we've ever had, hands down. We've been to New Orleans, where they are known for their Gumbo and Po'Boys, and when I tell you The Dive in Temple City, CA has Nola beat, that's a big deal! And the fact that they are within a mile radius of where we live, this can be both a good and bad thing. Lol. Service: From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and seated right away. Keep in mind, it was a Friday just past Happy Hour and this place was packed. The whole time, our server was very attentive and super friendly. Ambience: Aesthetically pleasing. A DJ on Friday and Saturday nights. This dude was on fire with the music. I had to go over and make his acquaintance and let him know he was killing it on the 1's and 2's. I even got his card for future use. Full bar, TV's, open kitchen concept, which we love. Conclusion: It's a vibe! We love The Dive! We loved it so much our first time we came back two days later with our son. It's that good, we left craving this place. Do yourself and favor and check it out. You can thank me later. Date night, friends outing, a place to watch the game, family, whatever your thing is, it works for all to enjoy. We happened to meet the owner, awesome dude. Humble, gracious and kind. From meeting him, I can see why his business is thriving. We will definitely be repeats here! Parking can be a major situation here. Especially if it is a weekend. There is a parking structure under ground. Cheers!

Yelp
The dive is a cool spot in Temple City. One of the only places you can find a pan roast. By far the number reason to visit this place. Everything is solid. Good apps. Good drinks. Service is good. The vibe is chill. Laid back. Causal. Good with friends if you want to enjoy a sports game. Parking is easy with an underground structure. Overall: will return

Yelp
A little overrated and a fair bit overpriced for me. I waited close to 40 minutes for a table, and unfortunately just wasn't wowed. The Shrimp Louie Salad (2/5) was a bust. The greens were measly in size and freshness, and definitely felt wilted. The portion of shrimp wasn't all that generous either. Also a little surprised the salad wasn't tossed, nor did they ask if we wanted it tossed. Instead, an insufficient amount of dressing was handed to us on the side. It wasn't a deep bowl, so it was hard to toss on our own. The Jambalaya (3/5) was pretty disappointing as a jambalaya. Lacked the bold flavors, and really sorely lacked spice. The Pan Roast (4/5) however I enjoyed! We ordered it with the House Specialty and the medley of seafood was satisfying. Having not had pan roast before, I was a little surprised that it wasn't spicy either and was very much like a creamy pasta sauce, but it was hearty and rich. Wish there was more rice to mop it up because there ended up being about 40% leftover once we ran out of rice. Overall, themes of small portions and not-quite-there execution. I do like the pan roast though and don't see it at many other Cajun spots, so might return for that and some happy hour oysters!

Yelp
Food here is great, with large portions that can be easily shareable. I enjoy the pan roast and the sprout salad was delicious. Service here is also really fast and very friendly. This is a great place to have a meal and hang out with friends.

Yelp
This place is always popping! Love coming here for my pan roast! If I can't go to Vegas palace station. Iykyk. I come to this place! Does not disappoint. Also please try the lobster Cajun pasta! Freaking delicious. All the servers are super nice and helpful as well! And I can't forget the awesome freaking dj Sonny. Music is always on point. Gives the good vibe for any occasion

Yelp
Very active, lively, and busy on a Friday night! We came for the bar to have a drink and it was great that there was available seating at the bar right away. They had live music and it was loud but not too loud where you can't talk with the person you're with. We just finished kbbq next door so we came for after drinks and ordered one drinks each: Paradise Punch (came in a cute little statue cup and decorations) and Lychee dreams (came with an actual lychee on a pick) Both drinks were good, the lychee didn't taste alcoholic at all, it was very sweet with a strong lychee flavor. However, the paradise one had a more alcoholic hit and the decorations just made it look very pretty! The place was booming and so many at the bar were ordering food such as oysters, appetizers, and pasta dishes. If we didn't eat beforehand I think we could've ordered some food too. The bartender was really sweet and a great host! He always checked to make sure we're ok and refilled our waters as we chatted amongst ourselves and enjoyed the bar scene. Restrooms were in the back, separated by genders. And instead of walking through the restaurant to get out there's a back door for your convenience and get out quicker.

Yelp
Happy hour prices are good and it's never too crowded on a weekday. The clam chowder was good not the best I've ever had but palatable. If you want to watch sports they have several TV's. I think I would give them another shot.
google avatar

Yelp
Love, love, love this spot! If you tell me you're craving seafood, I'll suggest The Dive. If you're in the mood for a quick drink, I'll suggest The Dive. If you're looking for a great happy hour, guess what--I'll suggest The Dive. The food is always on point, the decor and ambiance are fun, and the service is friendly no matter the time of day. My go-to orders are the Mussel Clam Combo, Shrimp Louie Salad, Clam Chowder, and Dive's Roasta. The portion sizes are just right, and the flavors are always tasty. Whether you're stopping by for a meal or just a drink, The Dive never disappoints.

Yelp
Each time I come to The Dive Oyster Bar I gotta order some fresh Oysters mmm mmm mmm They hit the spot each time. Went with their big bowl of clam chowder it's delicious full of flavors it also has shrimps My toddler kept saying mmm mmm as she shared the chowder with momma. We can't go home without an order of the berry bread pudding it's a game changer.(didn't take a picture because my brother took to long making a video ice cream was melting Love this place and recommend.

Yelp
The ambiance of the location was super cool and fun! Food was absolutely delicious and the service was good. We were the first customers to arrive. I would highly recommend the lobster roll!

Yelp
Super worth at Happy Hour. $2 oysters and plenty of other eats to choose from during HH. Server was super nice and was pretty empty at 4PM on a Tuesday. Would not mind coming here to watch a fight or sporting events over drinks. I think the prices are a tad bit high for the portions and what you're getting but the food is solid.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times mainly through take out. A few times I've dined in. First about dining in, there are days where you'll have to wait. One of the few good seafood places here that serves fresh oysters, lobster rolls, gumbo, steam mussels, pan roast and more! All of them taste good. They have tv here for entertainment especially if you want to hang out at the bar and enjoy a drink watching sports. There are plenty of seating available here with great service and nicely dark lit up place. Most of the times especially since Covid, I've ordered to go here. Kids love the butter noodles as there are a few places that have them. Portion were great before. Recently been a bit smaller as well as the taste I feel like it has gone down a bit; at least the last time I went. I would suggest you do check your order before you leave since they staple up your bag. There was one time I ended up driving all the way home to realize they were missing something. Will have to come back regardless since they do have good food and see how the quality is again.
google avatar

Kit T.

Yelp
The dive is one of the places I would go to for happy hour for their drinks and food. But this time, I did not go for happy hour. Located in the busy tea pot plaza in temple city, there's an underground parking structure for those who can't find parking on the top floor. My favorite dish is always the house pan roast with rice filled with seafood and the creamy tomato based sauce. The hot Cheetos truffle Mac and cheese was pretty good but they went a bit heavy handed on the hot Cheetos powder. The shrimp wrapped bacon is a bit salty but dipped with their sauce, it evens out the saltiness. Service is fast and friendly. Food is delicious and there's happy hour.
google avatar

Yelp
You wouldn't know what makes this place so special until you've tasted the seafood that's in their pasta dishes. They seafood is never overcooked or tough because they are steamed to perfection before mixing in with the rest of the dishes. Seasoning of the dishes are on point. Servers are always attentive and fast. Casual atmosphere with happy hour options. I have been back several times and really enjoyed my dining experiences here.

S L.

Yelp
Really chill establishment with good solid pours at the bar. Got an order of truffle cheese fries and it was good. TVs had some college football on. Quiet enough to have a conversation. Loud enough to feel lively. Really cool place.

Yelp
I was looking for a halfway spot to meet a friend for lunch, and The Dive seemed like a good choice. We got there at 1 p.m. and there were only two people working the room. April was doing double duty as the hostess and bartender and there was also a server. They were both friendly. The place wasn't packed, so service wasn't lacking. The dining room is spacious with a nautical theme. The bar is lovely, and there is an open kitchen where you can watch the steam kettle chefs in action. We were initially seated at a table but the overhead ceiling fans created too much of a cold draft for me, so we moved over to the bar. I ordered the Lychee Dreams Martini and my friend a Watermelon Margarita. She said it was tasty & refreshing. The Lychee Martini was delightful. The menu options are Southern/Creole inspired, and several of them sounded delicious but we both weren't very hungry so we decided to share the Cajun Truffle Fries, which were amazing! The fries were tossed in truffle oil, garlic, parsley, Cajun Spice, & parmesan cheese. They were addictively delicious! My friend also had the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, and she said it was very good. The shrimp were thick & plump and were wrapped in a generous amount of bacon. I would like to come back to try some other dishes like the Shrimp Jambalaya or Shrimp Po-Boy and most definitely the beignets. *Parking in the upstairs plaza can be difficult but there is additional parking below.

Yelp
Tequila Sunrise during happy hour! You guys, it's Friday night and they have their all-star staff on hand. Good drink, damn good food with good music. Get here.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday night for dinner and was seated right away. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful when answering questions about the menu. Traditional (House) Pan Roast- 4/5: The tomato taste was very apparent which I really liked. I wish the sauce was a bit more creamier and came with a bit more rice. There were lots of seafood and sausages in the dish. I really enjoyed it. Clam chowder- 3.5/5: The soup was creamy and had almost a smokey after taste with every bite. Oysters- 4/5: Came with pesto sauce which I thought was unique. I liked the taste of it mixed with the cocktail sauce. Kumamoto- Super sweet and smaller. Less briny aftertaste than the Sun Seekers. Sun Seekers- They were bigger and meatier. Creamier and less sweet.

Yelp
Food: love the taste and the selection. I would definitely return for the food. Service: very nice friendly servers and made us feel welcomed. Environment: nice and roomy. It feels comfortable and happy to dine in. Price: average in the $20-30. I think they are worthy for the quality of the food and the atmosphere. I definitely will come back with my friends and family.

Yelp
It's been a long time since we dined at The Dive. My parents and I popped in over the weekend - the original restaurant we wanted to go to in the plaza was too crowded, so we thought to give The Dive another try. We were brought over to our table along with our menus, and we were glad to be out of the heat. The restaurant didn't seem terribly busy, with probably ~ 5 tables around 1pm on a Saturday - we thought it was odd that it was this empty. We sat there probably for 10 minutes, and not a single staff member stopped by our table to check and see if we were ready to order. Water was not brought over, no utensils, nothing. Not even a single word was exchanged between us and the staff at The Dive from the moment we sat down. My parents and I studied the menu and was ready to order, just to be looking around the place with not a single staff signaling that they acknowledged that we are ready. What was most frustrating, was that there were 2 other tables that sat down after us that were serviced - they had water brought to them, and staff members taking their order. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind our table being ignored. The staff members didn't look like they were busy or drowning in work - they were standing around at some point, and just chose to ignore us. Fed up with the situation, we walked out of the restaurant and brought our business elsewhere. The food looked more expensive than the last time we visited, and honestly I don't think I care to see if it was worth the new price tag again.

Yelp
Definitely came for happy hour oysters, but ordered a lot off their small bites list like I was at TGIFridays. Had reservations for a Tuesday and was pretty busy after a while. The HH Oysters were the cheaper ones (can't remember the name) and we also ordered sprouts, cajun truffle fries, popcorn crawfish, and a grilled cheese with pan roast. The winner of the night was easily the sprouts. Perfectly crispy and some sweetness from the vineigarette. The worst dish was the popcorn crawfish. They gave a decent size basket, but the crawfish were tiny and mostly breading. Pan roast is delicious, but can get fairly one note after a while. Outside of that, service was SUPER friendly and checked in a good amount. Lively interior. All in all a great experience, will be back!

Yelp
Was Dine LA but we ordered off happy hour menu instead. All was super delicious we devoured and ordered more $1 oysters

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but it just fell short. Fries good, deep fried crab good but was oily. Lobster roll wasn't spectacular and didn't hit a home run. Came for lunch and it was pretty dead but food took awhile to come out. Fish and chips didn't have vinegar or tartar sauce on the side. Overall? Underwhelming especially after seeing their amazing pics online.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to grab a late dinner here on a Friday night around 10pm because we saw that they closed at midnight. We have both been here before and had a good experience so we decided to come again. Upon walking in there was a DJ blasting and we could not hear anything the host at the front said but we managed to get a table anyways. It was not busy inside only a couple of tables were occupied since it was pretty late. Our server was a woman wearing a denim top and I think her name was Valerie? She brought us water and when we were ready to order it seemed like she was no where to be found and in fact we couldn't get a hold of any servers that were near our seated area. In that timeframe they sat down three more parties, she came out and took all of their orders first when we should have been prioritized since we got their first. 15-20 minutes in and we still haven't ordered and when our waitress finally came to us we were pretty annoyed but brushed it off because we were starving. We ordered the mac chowder in a bread bowl for the appetizer, the gumbo and the choppino for the entrees. Because she took our order so late, all the parties that were seated after us got their orders first. When we got our food it looked really good. Unfortunately it tasted better than it looked. Maybe we should have ordered our usual orders but we wanted the explore the menu more. The appetizer mac chowder bread bowl was pretty good however it seems like they over torched the top (i assume to melt the cheese) and all the bacon bits were burnt. Every time you bit into a bite with bacon bits you were met with an overly strong flavor of the torch/burnt taste. We ended up having the scoop the bacon bits off the top because it made every bite unsatisfying to eat. The inside was really good though however there were no clams in the max and chowder. Maybe it was just a chowder with mac pasta. Jambalaya entree was good and pretty hefty. It has great seasoning and we enjoyed this dish. The cioppino was the main let down. The seafood tasted rubbery and overcooked. The broth was super duper oily but tasted good with the seasoning I guess. My main issue was that there was so many tomato's crammed into the bowl that you barely got any noodles or broth or items at all. The whole bottom of the bowl was tomato's and it was a very deceiving bowl. When I asked for a to go bowl, I literally packed 95% of just tomato's. This dish isn't worth the taste or value. We both would have preferred getting the pan roasts, but again wanted to explore the menu. During the entire part of our experience our waitress was no where to be found, and when she was finally to be seen there was no urgency to serve us. We had no refills and nobody checked in on this. We basically wanted to leave at this point, but could not even find anyone or our designated waitress to ask for the bill. The night was NOT busy, it was 11pm, we wanted to leave and just take our food and majority of the time we spent was waiting for someone to tend to us. Our designated waitress was chatting with the bartenders and I literally had to wave my arms in the air and still she did not once look to serve us. We ended up getting the hosts attention at the front entrance because we just gave up. She basically took care of us more than our actual waitress. I would not be back for a while we were both not satisfied with the experience and how much we expected overall.

Yelp
The Dive Oyster Bar is our favorite spot for pan roast and clam chowder. Popcorn crawfish is such a good starter! As for libation- we got the ogopogo sharlie hazy ipa and moscow mule. Service: amazing! Shout out to Achilles! We loved his warmth and welcoming demeanor. Very friendly! Ambiance: chill and lively

Yelp
A great place for happy hour drinks and apps. We would come here after work and get our fix of clam chowder, lobster rolls and cocktails. Service is always quick and easy. And the inside is modernly decorated with a nautical theme. Lychee martini is a must.

Yelp
I've been craving steam kettle cooking since Ritters closed down in Costa Mesa. My boyfriend suggested this place as one of the options for dinner with his friend and the three of us reached a consensus to come here. They are located in a busy plaza with Planet Fitness, Meet Fresh, Beokjeong so parking can get busy. Good thing they have an underground parking lot. Service was extremely lacking cause we waited for a long time and had to waive someone down to order. That person said they weren't our waitress but helped us out. We didn't see the waitress assigned to us the whole time except once at the end when we were ready to head out. We came on a Friday night a little before happy hour ended so we were able to put in a dozen of oysters ($1.50/oyster during happy hour) but the catch is that you can't pick the oysters for happy hour. These happy hour oysters were Fanny Bays, the thing I wanted the least on the list but it was a good deal so I didn't want to make a fuss. They only had a selection of 5 oysters on the day we visited. Pretty lacking when you have "Oyster Bar" in your name. For our entree, our friend got the House Specialty Pan Roast ($27), my boyfriend had the Shrimp Pan Roast ($25.50), and I had the Chicken and Andouille Sausage ($20) Pan Roast. If you've never had pan roast before it's a tomato base cream sauce with celery onion, and green bell peppers - the good old Louisiana holy trinity. You are suppose to be able to opt for rice or linguine but staff didn't offer it to us. It came with rice as a default. When the food came, our friend commented on the poor splattered plating. I noticed how there was a sauce finger smudge on the edge of my bowl as well. Also, they don't offer you any bread here unlike other kettle steamed cooking restaurants. Our friend's house specialty had his bowl mostly filled with the shells of the mussel and clams. As soon as those were removed it didn't look like much food at all. There was also suppose to be shredded blue crab which he didn't see, and shrimp and andouille sausage. My boyfriend had the shrimp and the shrimp still had its' tail on it. It was super messy to eat. Them boys and their messy dishes. Mine was the most affordable but I feel like I enjoyed mine the most. It was also weird that my boyfriend's pan roast consistency was more watery in texture than his friend's and my bowls. Interestingggggg... Ohh and the oysters came like halfway after we were done with the pan roast. We seriously thought the didn't put in the order, cause naturally they should come before the entrees. The Fanny Bays had some small some medium. The quality seemed decently freshed. However the shucker did poorly were you can see how some oysters were detached quite clumsy with oyster still stuck on the shell. Once again not impressed if "oyster bar" is in your business name. For dessert we shared their Beignets ($7.50) which conveniently came in an order of 3. It was okayyy. A bit oily. Not as good as Disneyland or New Orleans but it was cheapish. I think The Dive might be one of the last pan roast businesses in the area, and I might come back specifically for that but their limited oyster selection, poor service, inconsistent food aren't really inspiring me to come back otherwise.

Yelp
I've been here once before during their Happy Hour and wanted to try their entrees. I got the House Pan Roast with Rice on the side and it was good! The House has shredded blue crab, shrimp, clams, mussels and sausage and with the tomato cream sauce it was super savory and delicious. The food came surprisingly fast and I saw the chef making it towards the back area which was cool. We were seated promptly and the server was very friendly and attentive. A very chill and casual environment to go with friends.

Yelp
Came in for dinner & drinks with friends and was lucky to score a table. The drinks took a minute to come out but after we saw the Bloody Mary, we understood why! It had a soft shell crab in it with many other things. My BF ordered a second. I ordered the guava lava and tiki paradise, guava's the better choice! We ordered the loaded Mac and chowder bread bowl, traditional pan roast and the dive's roasta. Everything came out really good, especially the pan roast. Great place to meet friends. Busy parking lot on a Friday night but the plaza has a parking garage. Can't wait to come back to try other things!

Yelp
"Omg" can barely scratch the surface of how great our experience was. We had a reservation for my family (group of 10) and we were seated and served promptly, and the friendly staff made sure we got some orders in before Happy Hour ended. Everything we ate was DELICIOUS, I had no complaints about the experience and I wish I had more stomach space to eat more! The House Pan Roast was absolutely delicious and super generous with their servings. This was enough to feed 2 people! The sauce was creamy and decadent. The chowder bread bowl was to die for! The chowder was perfectly thick and creamy. The best chowder I've had for sure! The flavor and portion was perfect as well.

Yelp
Good service: friendly, professional & attentive without being pushy. It's bright casual, loud, but nothing overwhelming considering it's open space with high ceilings and a bit of a sports bar and the it's multiple screens on every wall. They offer Good food, hip fusion. There's a fun happy hour with a diverse menu of tastings & offerings. I was meeting a friend who is a regular & I appreciate why it is for him. I'll be coming back. It's all offered at a reasonable price. Happy hour made it fun to try things. Ironically I introduced buddy that's a regular to some new tastes 'cuz until the he always got his usual!

Yelp
This is my go to spot for oysters in SGV. They always have fresh and yummy oysters. They also have a great Vietnamese/creole inspired dishes. I have had the one in Vegas with the long line and this place is just as good! Their happy hour oysters are always good but they also have Kumamoto which is our fav. I like the lobster noodles and they have the best clam chowder I've ever had. The mussels is on point but I like the white wine broth on the full orders vs the tomato based broth on the Happy Hour order. Drinks are also good! Such a good find in SGV.

Yelp
Pretty sure their oysters gave me food poisoning first bite was great, 5-10 minutes afterwards, not so much. It may have been the AC blasting or the combination of how oily the lobster roll was but we had to leave within 20-30 minutes of sitting down.

Yelp
Love the vibe of this place!! Came here to relax after a long day at work. Music is great, there is a dj near the front door. Ordered the lychee dreams to start the night , house special pan roast and the popcorn crawfish. Lychee dreams was sweet and fruity. Loved it. We got the mild pan roast and the sauce paired well with the white rice. Very creamy and flavorful. There wasn't enough rice so we ordered an extra bowl. Popcorn crawfish was bite sized and paired well with the sauce. Was a change from eating the usual popcorn chicken. Atmosphere and vibes were on point. There was a lot of to go orders. Would come again.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a few times now, and each time, this place does not disappoint me. The food is delicious and extremely tasty, making me want to come back for more. We tried the mussel fries, hot cheetos mac, traditional pan roast, and clam chowder. We liked everything we ordered. Service was on point and attentive. The ambiance is nice, and they have plenty of seating. Also, parking is ok. It does get pretty busy because it is in the same spot of other restaurants and markets. Overall, this place is worth trying out. The food is great and we will definitely come back here.
