The Best Pop-Ups and Special Dinners in New Orleans - Eater New Orleans

"Ravenous Nola is most likely found at a brewery (Courtyard, Second Line, or Miel), Mid City beer store 504 Craft Reserve, and now, sometimes at Bywater “wine dive” The Domino. Though dubbed “Japanese fusion comfort food,” there’s no real telling what the menu will have in store, as they’ve recently included chimichangas, donburi bowls, boudin musibi, yaki udon, and a chicken Parmesan po-boy. Worth checking out no matter the evening’s theme." - Clair Lorell

The Bywater Is Getting a New Wine Bar From Twelve Mile Limit’s T. Cole Newton - Eater New Orleans

"Bustling St. Claude Avenue is getting a new, neighborhood-y wine bar from 12 Mile Limit’s T. Cole Newton this summer, according to Todd Price. Tentatively named Domino, Newton wants to remove “cult of exclusivity around wine bars” with his new spot, which will be next to Red’s Chinese." - Stephanie Carter

Incredible hidden gem in the Bywater! Eclectic dive bar with great live music, friendly bartenders, and a cozy vintage vibe. I'm a local but had never ventured in before tonight. They had a rockabilly type jazz band with an energetic vocalist, upright bassists & electric guitar. The bartender was great, I was the DD and she only charged me $2 for sodas all night. They have a signature drink menu too which is impressive for a smaller bar. It looks like they have a nice mix of live bands, dj's, open mics & movie nights. This place is such a nice escape from the crowded Quarter. I'll definitely be back!!

Bartenders were great. Karaoke pissed me off because I put in for 3 songs and waited 2 hours and I never got called for them which is crazy because I was one of the first people at the bar waiting and I saw people come in way after me and they got a chance to sing. After waiting 2 hours and never getting called I left. It wasn’t even busy so I was so confused.

Nice place to relax and enjoy the fun. Has the potential to become a great neighborhood bar!

Dumbest name I ever heard but the new paint job is nice. Edit: Looks like they changed the name back. I rescind my criticism.

The venue is very home-y and the attendees are always a great bunch of well behaved folks. Let both your hair and your guard down while you hang with the awesome bartenders and enjoy live music.

Best bartenders and open mic Tuesday nights, dance parties, speed dating, burlesque, karaoke, tons of variety throughout the week…

Yelp
Went here last night for a comedy show, which was held in the back. Nice outdoor area with overhead covering and ample, separated seating. The interior is a good size, with a wraparound bar and great art. The ceilings are low and the lighting is harsh, which gives the feeling of a parent's basement a bit. With some tweaks this could be a nice spot...would be cool if they added hookah for another dimension.

Yelp
I met up with my friend to do some day drinking and this place was the perfect location. When I walked in Run The Jewels was blaring through the speakers. Clear sign today was going to be a good day. The pop up vendor was txowtxowpintxos. I ordered the Chorizo with fried green tomato sandwich. I washed my food down with the Paper Planes drink and a Cadillac Margarita.

Yelp
Wow! I passed by this bar one weekend and thought what is that? And didn't notice a sign. The next weekend, I met friends here and realized the Domino out front IS the sign. Gotcha. What a great happy hour! And what a fun and spacious bar. First the HH: It runs 7 days a week! from 3-6. Yes please. I know I enjoyed $5 cocktails, but I remember beer and wine specials. OMG I love the giant wrap around bar. So many places to sit and the vintage booths are amazing. They have all sorts of events and popups happening too. Definitely a spot to cross town for!

Yelp
4/5 fun! Well, this is cute. Seems like folks can hang out outside, cozy up in some booths, or sit at the bar. I love that there is actually Carlo Rossi on the wine list, it's like yes. This is what we are. :)

Yelp
Louis was amazing! He made ordering so easy!! He was patient. He was very informative and also observant. He made suggestions based on the alcoholic beverages i were drinking and he also let me know which becerages i just had to try. I ordered the Frozen Reisling which tasted so good. Folks, Frozen freaking Reisling!!! Amazing!!! I was very happy with the suggestions. I also ordered angood sweet Spanish Rose'. The ambiance is very chilled and laid back. Very ahocked that this spot is basically a basement sort to speak. Very spac. Bathroom was clean. Vibes were very positive and chilled. I will be back. Please note parking can be hectic on st. Claude so travel with that in mind. Thanks to Louis and the other wonderful staff i really had a great time!

Yelp
Understated bar on St. Claude. Big space inside, a bit funky and quirky. Drinks are priced well, though the menu seems to need some updating. A good choice for something lowkey when you don't want to do too much but want to chill.

Yelp
This has become my favorite bar. The drinks are just spectacular! Every single one I've tried has been delicious. The prices are reasonable. They have food vendors sometimes inside and food trucks outside at times. The bartenders are super friendly. The bar is so spacious and I am in love with the horseshoe shaped bar. The bathrooms are nice and clean. Trivia is a great time! I've been to trivia maybe 3 times there and had a blast. I also had a birthday happy hour there, which was great. There was supposed to be a food truck there that day but it cancelled because it was supposed to rain & the lovely bartenders told me and my friends that we could totally order food and bring it in, which made my day much better because ya gotta eat whilst you drink or into a slump you will sink. I just really love the chill, quiet atmosphere. The music is great. I love the pics on the walls and the "Trust Louisiana Women" hanger. And they have board games for you and your friends to enjoy. Def one of the coolest hangout bars in to

Yelp
How does one even start a review of her favorite bar in New Orleans.... I'm almost emotional thinking about the greatness of The Domino. First off... Its name is cooler than your favorite bar name... You can say what you want, but you know it... You know just by the name I'm gonna have a good time and I'm going to leave this bar cooler than when I first entered this bar! SPACE... Listen..... The Domino has ALL THE space...I really mean it.... ALL OF IT.. When you walking up to the bar, you wouldn't expect it, but it's a lot of room. You can have a pretty large legit size event here. I actually had my first Fancy Ladies Happy Hour Society Event here and there was enough space to have three events going on at once... In addition, the staff is so helpful and will work with you on events. Drinks....Somedays I'm classy and go with some wine... But other days I feel boss like and I go for the Bywater Sour (Whiskey Based), other days I feel well dressed and go with the Friesling and other days I think I'm Beyonce and I order the Crimean Cup. All of these different occasions my drinks or served and made with love and patience from some of the coolest people this side of the world. I figured you needed more information about my Beyonce Drink, Crimean Cup; it includes aged rum, Wray & Nephew, Brandy, Maraschino, lemon, orgeat, oleo, and sparkling wine. Once you start drinking this over the top drink you are transformed into a bedazzled bodysuit and for that moment your life is forever changed. My favorite bartenders are Louis and Holly. Louis makes a great drink, he super cool and plays the best music and almost makes you think Ginuwine is on his way to dance for you. Holly makes a tasty drink and her Crimean Cup is official, she has a great old school music selection. You can honestly go to The Domino for any occasion, birthday, friend outing or even a date. It's a whole relaxed vibe here. What I also love is the LOCATION... It's a great bar, close enough to Gentilly and East, without you needing to go far into the city!

Yelp
There is a bartender here named Kat with big black glasses who is super rad and I just love this bar. That's all! :)

Yelp
Great little bar with wonderful drinks, chill atmosphere and a great board game selection. They have some amazing classics to games you might not of heard of. The bartender was trying to teach me a game called, "Tiger and Goats". The Bywater Sour was a great cocktail! I had to stop myself cause I wanted to get another after already having 2. The Barleby was light and refreshing perfect on these hot summer days. Highly recommend this charming neighborhood bar!

Yelp
I have been going to The Domino since it opened. In addition to fantastic cocktails and a chill vibe, I've always appreciated their kind customer service. This goes beyond a great drink. When I was pregnant, they were wonderful about creating mocktails for me. They are proactive about sexual assault. And now they are protecting customers and the community by requiring vaccines. I am grateful for a community business that is truly invested in the community.
