"You know those people who always look good, but put in massive amounts of effort to appear that way? The Kardashians, Anne Hathaway, even Taylor Swift. There are also people who would look put together even if they wore a family-pack Three Musketeers bag with holes cut out for arms and legs as a romper: Amal Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Prince Harry. The Dorian, serving fancy comfort food and strong cocktails in the Marina, is a prime example of that first kind of person - trying very, very hard to be cool and doing a decent job at passing itself off as the real thing. First impressions are everything, so when trying to look swank, it’s apparently important to get your hands on the plushest fabrics you can avail yourself of. Proceed to upholster the chairs and add elaborate drapes. The bar at The Dorian is legitimately very cool, with potted plants, open gold shelves, and a central location that pulls you towards it - but the chandeliers and shelves of books are excessive. It’s like those people who wear glasses to try to look smart. Do less. It’s decadent, and it clearly took a lot of money to create such an opulent atmosphere, which feels strange and out of place in the Marina. No Heath ceramics or reclaimed wood or artisanal lightbulbs, just a dim library/smoking lounge/den of ill repute feel. We’re kind of into it, and slightly embarrassed to admit such a thing. photo credit: Keith Baker The food fits the rich surroundings, and is better than you might expect. We’re all in on the tuna, deviled eggs, brussels sprouts, and chicken, and can strongly endorse the burger too. We’re not all in on the $40 crab and truffle-topped “Royal Dorian” burger or on the option to add a $135 bottle of Veuve to your $50 shellfish tower. The cocktails are strong, so maybe people might get drunk enough to order these things? Ultimately, we can get behind The Dorian, especially for cocktails and small plates or a group outing where you share lots of things. Just try not to take yourself too seriously while you’re there. Ordering a burger with truffle and crab on it isn’t going to impress anyone worth impressing. Food Rundown The Devil’s Egg Sorry Dorian, your deviled egg is just like everyone else’s. But the big piece of bacon and smoky paprika on top are good. More bacon, less problems. Brussels Sprouts Not taking any chances on these, The Dorian tosses in some bacon, hazelnuts, and lots of oil. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Very much worth your time. Butterbean Hummus The hummus has a sprinkling of chopped-up olives and onions that improve it from forgettable to pretty good. But the store-bought, charred pita is pretty weak. Basically, you’ve eaten this exact thing at your book club. Pass. Yellow Fin Tuna Lots of avocado and super fresh tuna, plus a little spice from the jalapenos. Awesome, eat it. Free Range Roast Chicken FREE RANGE BABY. We can’t really escape SF. This chicken is perfectly cooked, and the parsnip puree is slightly sweet, mixing well with the wild rice. Delicious. Shrimp & Crabcake Sliders Not very pretty, since it’s an orange-ish patty on a bun, but these are surprisingly great. Solid dabs of aioli, arugula, and a strong seafood-to-breadcrumb ratio in the cakes. We order these every time. The Dorian Burger It’s a decent burger, but not up to the neighborhood crown-holder down the street at Causwell’s." - Taylor Abrams

"The Dorian, a Victorian-themed bar and restaurant in the Marina, is closing after eight years. It is known for its powerful lineup of cocktails, oysters, and American fare including a smash burger, roasted chicken, and gnocchi. The bar will host a final blowout party and several themed events before closing. It has been sold to Kingston Wu, who plans to remodel the space and continue the Dorian's tradition of delicious food and inventive cocktails." - Lauren Saria

"The Dorian boozy brunch destination in the Marina has a surprisingly affordable Friendsgiving deal, with a couple of important notes in the fine print. They have a prix fixe menu for only $36! That includes turkey, mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and pumpkin spice churros. But it’s only available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (skipping over the holiday itself), and the $36-deal is only for sit-down diners. However, the restaurant promises us that they’ll weigh out all of those items deli style, so a solo diner could still pick up an affordable array of turkey and sides." - Becky Duffett

Google
Came for restaurant week and we had been very excited to try it. Portions felt a little small, but that isn't the worst thing. Appetizers were very good but it took nearly an hour to get them and we asked a couple times about them. The entrees came out fast and were good too. Desserts were disappointing. The granita tasted like the minute maid cups of frozen lemonade and the chiffon cake was surprisingly dry. Not really worth the price. The service was really bad. We tired many times to get someone's attention for another drink or even the check. Eventually I had to get up and go to the waiters stand to get the check so we could leave.

Google
The place is beautiful. Service, was okay but you also felt like they're in a hurry to kick you out even though we had reservations (we wonder if it's because we're there for Restaurant Week 🤷🏻‍♀️) food was also just OK. Nothing special. Drinks and desserts were so good tho! I would go back for the bar maybe.

Google
Awesome happy hour menu. We pretty much ordered all the small bites. Their oysters were only $1.75 each! So fresh. We got 3 dozens. Drinks were good too. Service was nice and friendly. Loved the ambiance. Great location!

Google
The cocktails were great, but very tiny. Atmosphere was awesome, really cute. The oysters and truffle fries were great, everything else was very very basic. I ordered an entree of ahi poke tacos, and it was pretty much an appetizer at the cost of an entree, but without the sides. If you want to come here and have cocktails, awesome, if you want to eat actual food, don’t bother.

Our server, Olivia, made my experience here above and beyond 5 stars. She was so helpful, polite and a delight. I came on my birthday and she made the dinner so special. I wanted to give her, specifically, a shout out. THANK YOU OLIVIA My dish, the mussels in a red sauce were so delicious. I can't think of a better dish I have had in a long time. Thank you to the chefs. The place was beautiful, cute, quaint, and first rate. If I could give Michellen stars, this place would get 3!

Google
Such a horrible experience Would not recommend at all Took 2 hours to get seated Food was not seasoned , we ordered food for 7 people and all the dishes had no salt and no pepper. When we told them it wasn’t seasoned the manager came out and was very irritated at us saying they don’t season anything we would have to ask for salt and pepper.. ummm, did the chef miss the day where they taught him about seasoning in culinary school for something?! Do not go here, it’s not even the lack of seasoning or long wait, it’s the staff being rude when we explained our food was bland.

Google
Cool bar along the busy streets of other eateries and bars. This place was a popular one with many people eating and drinking. We stayed on the bar side and ordered a drink. The Alibi (bourbon, salted pistachio, lemon, orange marmalade) was pretty good and easy to drink. It can be difficult getting a quick drink when they are busy, but is worth it.

Google
Bumped into this place while exploring the area. The drinks were pretty good. I had the La Dama, it was a little spicy. Truffle Fries was amazing 😱. The chicken sliders were good too. Nice crowd, nice atmosphere. Took too long to get the check

Yelp
This is a very hip restaurant with good food and excellent service. We had the Caesar salad, oysters, burger and sea bass. Everything was excellent except for the sea bass which was way over cooked and dry. Since the restaurant is located in a good area and the service was spectacular, I will return with the girls for brunch or happy hour.

Yelp
Friendly and fast service Loud atmosphere! But love the DJ that was playing that night out. Thoroughly enjoyed the espresso martini not a fan of the frosé with nerds. Thanks!

Yelp
A birthday brunch brought eight of us here. The celebrant chose them due to the ambiance. ATMOSPHERE: A big bar sits front & center, surrounded by spacious booths, a small loft bar and tall library shelves adorning the walls. The bright yet cozy dining room sits off to the side. Noise level is very loud. RESERVATIONS: Recommend as it's not a very big place. PARKING: Street. BRUNCH MENU: American & Mediterranean selections. BEVERAGE: All Day Frosé - $13.00 The photos of these looked so enticing and happy. Pre-mixed and dispensed from a machine, the pink-hued frosty beverage was refreshing, slightly sweet and perfectly balanced. Sprinkles that tasted like Nerds candy were the crowning jewel. Libertine - $13.00 Basil-flavored vodka drink. Good flavors but should've been chilled more. Espresso Martini - $15.00 The couple of sips I had were surprisingly good, though I don't think I could drink an entire glass of it. FOOD: Deviled Egg - $6.00 (2 pcs.) Cut on the horizontal, they were tasty and presented nicely. Billionaire's Bacon - $10.50 (2 pcs.) I'm not a fan of this sweet & sticky recipe, but it seems to be served all over the city. I'll take simply crisped strips any day. Cinnamon Roll - $8.00 Had a bite which was warm, moist and not overly sweet. Crabcake Benedict - $26.00 I did appreciate the absence of a carb base, replaced by a frisse salad instead. Perfectly poached eggs, rich Hollandaise sauce and protein-heavy crabcakes made this a highly recommended option. SERVICE: We stopped at the bar since we were early. Bartender service was quick. Our male server wasn't the friendliest at first. No greeting and sported a grumpy face. But to be fair, they seemed understaffed as there were I believe just two servers taking care of a full house. Toward the end he did engage more and turned friendly. OVERALL: Charming brunch spot with a creative menu.

Yelp
Wanted to give this place a try before they close at the end of October. They're definitely not coasting towards closure - the food was exceptional. I had the arancini, the cucumber and feta salad, and the tomato gnocchi. The service was friendly (and fashionable) and the vibe was super fun and poppin'. Everything tasted incredibly fresh with good quality ingredients. The arancini and salad were both delicious. The sauce for the gnocchi was on the spicy side - more an arrabiata than a marinara - but the portion was large and it was still well made - just a little spicy for me. I also had a mocktail called a Refresh - ginger beer, lemon, turmeric. It was very easy to drink (not too sharp/burnt like some ginger beer can be) All in all I'm glad I got a chance to eat here. I'm sorry it's closing but I wish the owners and staff the best of luck in their next endeavors.

Yelp
The Dorian in SF is a brunch lover's paradise. Their brunch dishes are a delight, offering a range of flavorful options. The classy aesthetic vibes add to the overall ambiance, creating a stylish setting for your meal. And the cocktails are top-notch, perfectly complementing the menu. However, it's worth noting that the service wasn't as friendly as one might hope for. Despite this, The Dorian remains a fantastic choice for those seeking a sophisticated brunch experience in the city. Please try their espresso martini, shakshuka and french toast!

Yelp
TLDR: Great place to hang out if for drinks post dinner in heights. We found Dorian after dinner to hang out and have drinks and chill. This was such a wonderful place with music just loud enough for a good time while being able to chat. The cocktails were good and had a great variety for everyone's taste.

Yelp
My companion's friend and girlfriend wanted to meet on Chestnut Street for dinner, drinks, whatever. We got there super early and had no destination in mind, so our spot to kill time was The Dorian. We sat at the bar and had a really nice bartender. I wish I had gotten his name, but oh well. Ordered beer for him and sparkling wine for me. I wanted cider originally, but I was informed they were out, so I settled on sparkling wine and it wasn't settling at all. The sparkling wine was crisp and fresh. Had a sip of the beer and it wasn't my style, but hey, I'm not the one that had to like it. My companion liked it and that was the point. Anyhow, it looks like this place is quite popular, especially for espresso martinis. If I liked coffee and alcohol together, I'd have certainly ordered that. I believe they also serve food, but alas, we went there as it was near where we parked and we didn't know how long it'd be until we would see friends. We eventually paid and headed to our next destination.

Yelp
Ambiance 4.5/5 Service 5/5 (5 for our waiter, 4 for the host) Food 4.5/5 Cocktails 4/5 What I would come back for: - Espresso martinis - Burger with truffle fries - Gnocchi - Arancini (appetizer) Great place for a girls night out. No wait during prime dinner time (7pm!) on a Saturday night, which was surprising. This Dorian offers outdoor dining, indoor dining, and a private dining(?) upstairs for reserved parties, I think. It looked dark and mysterious up there. There's a curtain that separates the main dining room from the bar area. As you would expect, the bar area is more rowdy whereas the dining area is more mellow. But I could've came on a more low-key night because I've heard this place can POP OFF. The music was a bit too loud IMO; I felt like I was shouting at my friends who sat across from me. Nonetheless, food and drinks were yummy. I would come back again for another girls night out.

Yelp
AMBIANCE: really beautiful somewhat of a speakeasy vibe. Very loud but yet one can hold a conversation. FOOD: delicious! Appetizers: truffle fries, burrata, the eggs!!! Oh my goodness, the eggs: a must. Main Dishes: the gnocchi was simply amazing. I also had the sea bass which was good but not as exceptional as the gnocchi Drinks: fables of bees - feels like drinking is all of a sudden good for you. So refreshing and tasty... All day frosé: desert in a cup- delicious, refreshing. Service: wow, simply wow. Tina, you are the ABSOLUTE BEST. You made our experience that much more fun. Your friendliness, attentiveness, and generosity did not go unnoticed.

Alaric S.

Yelp
first time to Dorian last night with friends. I didn't get to try their food but their drinks were pretty good. Service was pretty good as well, surprised that they shut down early since it was Friday night. Love the ambience of the inside as well. The DJ wasn't too loud like you could normally have a conversation without raising your voice among friends.

Edie N.

Yelp
What a fun place to eat with friends! Love the vibe inside, it's a mix of upscale yet funky to invite anyone in to dine. Food was amazing. We devoured it so fast so I don't have pics but recommend ordering the chicken sliders and their cheese burger.. so freaking good. Service was friendly but very slow on the drinks. It took about 30 mins for our cocktails to come out and they were all watered down and didn't taste great. We gave it another shot and ordered a round of Pacifico thinking it'll be faster if we just got beer but again took about 30 mins and we were done with eating and kind of over it by the time they came out. Other than that, this place is amazing and id highly recommend coming here with a group of friends or a fun date night!

Nicole R.

Yelp
Only had cocktails here but our bartender, B, was so phenomenal. He's extremely friendly, knowledgeable and makes great drinks! We ordered the espresso martini and a pink drink with basil that I can't remember the name of. Everything was delicious and B even gave us two tiny froze shot samples which were delicious with the nerds candy on top! Love the vibe in here and the cute Photo Booth! We will be back!

Yelp
Made reservations for a Sunday at 12:30 am and when we arrived we got seated right away. While we were waiting for our other friends we got asked a couple of times if we were ready and we told them we were waiting. But after our friends got there, we waited about 10-15 minutes before anyone asked if we were ready for drinks. We got the The Mimosa Experience and ended up only getting 3 bottles. The I loved my Smash Burger as it had a great tasting sauce that was on the juicy burger patties! I shared the burger and also the Chicken Caesar Flatbread with my wife and we both thought the flatbread was strange. It has pizza sauce on it which killed the other flavors. The chicken also had an interesting flavor. Overall it was an OK experience with semi-good food.

Ngoc My H.

Yelp
This place has the vibes you are looking for when going to brunch with the girlfriends! The place is decorated in a chic and modern scheme. Upscale furniture and decor makes the place dazzle! I had a reservation here for 5 people on a Saturday for brunch. It was relatively easy to get a reservation and we got seated quickly. We were here to celebrate a friend's birthday and we told the waiter, who gave us all frosé shots! So nice of him. We all had a great time. The food itself was great as well! I got the Dorian Smashburger which was cooked medium rare and was so juicy. The onion jam gave this burger an umami. The fries paired perfectly and was lightly crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. My friends got the Shashuka. The sourdough toast lended a perfect balance to the rich tomato flavor. In all, I had a lot of fun here and I recommend coming for food & cocktails!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night a bit before 6pm, just making it in time for happy hour. We got lucky we didn't have to wait for a table, but there was also open seats at the bar. Our server was super friendly and made our experience even better!! It did end up getting more crowded as the night went on but we were still able to have our conversations with the noise around us. We got the frosé shots ($2 each) which were nice and sweet! Could taste the watermelon and rose, definitely recommend especially if you don't want to commit to the drink (like me haha). Other highlights would be the crispy chicken sliders ($5 each) and the oysters ($1.75 each). The sliders had a lil kick to them, and the crunch was great. The oysters with the lemon and chia seed had the perfect taste blend. Overall, would give The Dorian a 4.5/5 and would definitely come here again (and hopefully try their brunch!)

Sabrina M.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on Saint Pattie's day. We missed our reservation but they were still able to seat us about 40 minutes later, glad they were able to fit us in! The ambiance was really nice and cute and our waitress was very friendly! I ordered the crab cakes which are supposed to be a pretty popular dish but I was not a huge fan, hence the three stars. Presentation was great but was not a fan of the actual crab cake itself. Glad I tried it, not sure if this would be my first choice next time.

Yelp
4.5 STARS Someone I know ALWAYS goes to The Dorian for Hendrick's Martinis... But, they left out one VERY important detail... It's ONLY $6 during Golden Hour ("happy hour")!!!! Shoot, had they told me, I would be pounding them down right alongside 'em. Come to think of it, maybe that was the point tho...they wanted to keep that deet on the DL because I don't think they want to be anywhere near me after several dranks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Every time I pass by The Dorian (Palm House's sister resto), it's always poppin' with a hip, young crowd so I made a rezzie just in case. Got there early and was seated promptly. They're open for takeout, delivery, indoor dining, and outdoor dining. Dog-friendly! M E N U New American Cuisine. Full bar with craft cocktails. Golden Hour aka Happy Hour Specials are available Tuesday - Friday, 4 pm - 6 pm: * $6 Tito's or Hendrick's Maritinis, $5 Fort Point KSA, $6 House Wine, $11 Select Cocktails * Discounted Apps (the only thing not "discounted": fried chicken sliders; $5 for one during golden hour and $15 for three during dinnertime). * Available at the bar/lounge and patio only. Weekend brunch but no bottomless mimosas. BUT, the price does down the more bottles of mimosas you order (1st bottle: $48, 2nd bottle: $38, 3rd bottle: $28, 4th bottle: $20, etc). 5.5% SF Health Ordinance added to bill. D R I N K S * Hendrick's Vesper Martini (Golden Hour - $6): https://tinyurl.com/mvfhh8mw *** $1 from each martini dollar goes to charity (LOVE THAT!) *** Limit two per person For $6, I was prepared for the Hendrick's Vesper to be weak but it wasn't. It was stiff so the value is unbeatable (I've paid up to $18 at others bars). F O O D * Hog Island Sweetwater Oysters w/ cocktail relish, horseradish, umami mignonette (Golden Hour - $1.75 ea / Reg. - $3.50 ea): https://tinyurl.com/c4mmtshz Clean, sweet, and briny with the umami mignonette adding a savory tangy punch. * Truffle Fries w/ parsley, parmesan, truffle aioli (Golden Hour - $5 / Reg. - $12): https://tinyurl.com/2hcw788e Hot and crispy with a delicious saltiness and savory, earthy umami. The truffle oil didn't have that fake gasoline taste to it. Can't beat it for $5! * Blistered Shishitos w/ calabrian chili yogurt, fried mint, lemon (Golden Hour - $6, not on regular menu): https://tinyurl.com/pdtsjpfb The shishitos packed a good mild heat. The calabrian chili yogurt was the perfect accompaniment with its cooling tangy, creaminess. * Turmeric Hummus & Seeded Flatbread w/ garam masala, coconut (Golden Hour - $6 / Reg. - $13): https://tinyurl.com/2p8sfna8 Lots of rave reviews for this app but it was my least fav one. It wasn't not bad tho. The turmeric hummus had a good creamy texture but the flavor profile was on the sweet (coconut) and sour (pickled peppers) side. Not used to that for hummus so I think it's just something that needs to grow on me. The seeded flatbread was slightly undercooked so it had a gummy texture. S E R V I C E Fantastic service from our upbeat and cheerful server, Jacob. I asked if they could make a Gibson. No pearl onions but he offered to look for shallots to make it. I didn't want to trouble the staff so I declined but I appreciated the offer. The busboy, Jerad was also very kind and quickly whisked away our empty plates. Patrick wasn't our server but came over to say, "Hi" Tater Tot which he loved. Quick drink and food service. A M B I A N C E I remember when this spot was Circa...oof aging myself. Large modern Victorian vibes - indoor dining room has a beautiful opulent chandelier, and the bar/lounge area has comfy booths and TVs. There's also a photobooth and additional seating in the mezzanine area. Even cold out, the outdoor seating was comfortable (each table has their own overhead lamp) and tables were spaced out. Thank you for the hilarious restroom decal. Keepin' it PG: kitty = ladies, rooster = men. P A R K I N G Very, very difficult street parking. Beware of the 4-6 pm weekday tow-away zones! Nearest garage: Lombard/Webster (2 blocks away) and Pierce/Chestnut (2.5 blocks away). Overall, restaurants in The Marina/Cow Hollow can be a hit or miss (IMO more so the latter). BUT, The Dorian exceeded expectations. The awesome Golden Hour deals is totally worth going across the city for. 4.5 stars rounded up.

Yelp
Had a super enjoyable evening here. I was walking distance from our hotel! We met the owner and we went to happy hour then stayed for food! It was all excellent and a highlight of our trip! Great wine, food and ambi

Yelp
Dorian is always a fun scene of good looking people, good music, fun, stylish atmosphere, good drinks & food. I've been here twice for outdoor dining during early days of Covid & most recently for indoor brunch this past weekend. My favorite dinner item were the ahi tacos which featured very fresh ahi & tacos didn't fall apart. For brunch, I shared the burrata with my friend & it features melon & prosciutto with a balsamic vinaigrette drizzle, served with toasted bread. It was the perfect meal starter. I had the crab cake Benedict for my entrée, which interestingly didn't have an English muffin under the crab cake (save on carbs!). My friend had the shashuka & she enjoyed her dish. She had a froze with Campari float & I wanted to try the froze as I saw small, shot glass sized froze servings being provided to some tables. Upon inquiry, I learned that the small froze glasses are usually given for celebrations such as birthdays but weren't available for purchase (sad face). Our super sweet server later brought us 2 baby frozes & I was so excited to try it. It was sweet & refreshing. I would definitely get a full size froze during my next visit. Service is very friendly & helpful.

Yelp
I decided to pop in after work for the first time, and I had a fabulous time! Walked by here countless times before. After a very rough day I needed it desperately. I forgot to write the bartenders name down, but she was wonderful! Very welcoming and super friendly! They have a terrific happy hour menu! I had the chicken sliders which were super good. Fried chicken with a sweet and spicy sauce on Hawaiian rolls. Super YUM! I also got a Cesar salad which was delicious. Big big fan! I will definitely be back and will get the bartenders name because she really made my first experience here a special one.

Audrey L.

Yelp
Such a great spot! Great place in the Marina for Happy Hour. I always get the Highbrow Dirty martini, only $8 during HH! I've received a frosé slushee shot with nerds candy on top, that was good too. My friends always order the Spritz drinks, and they love them. The food is yummy, could never go wrong with their truffle fries (HH pricing $8) and crispy chicken sliders (HH pricing $5 each). I've had Julian as my server multiple times, he's charismatic and has great customer service. The ambiance is on the calmer side, but still a fun vibe. One of my go-to spots in the Marina! :-)

Jenny Z.

Yelp
Came her for restaurant week and it was alright. The service was so slow... the whole meal took us 3 hours! For the restaurant week menu, the food wasn't bad, but definitely not worth the price. I oped for the tuna tartare which was very basic, the salmon (which was also pretty standard but the skin was very crisp which I liked), and the strawberry sorbet (refreshing, but tastes like sorbet I can get from the supermarket). We also got oysters, which were alright. I really did appreciate how we got cocktails on the house as part of the restaurant week menu!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic for brunch! I came here with friends on a Saturday afternoon. I didn't realize they take reservations, so we ended up making one from the car, while driving up from San Jose. Despite arriving early, we were seated right away at cozy booth across from the bar. The decor was elegant but not overly trendy - dark interior, gold pillars surrounding the bar. We all decided to start with Espresso Martinis, which were excellent - strong, not too creamy. I had the hardest time deciding what to order off the food menu so I decided to get both the Ahi Poke Tacos and the Dorian Chicken Sliders (the Make It Spicy version). Honestly, these were probably the two best things we collectively ordered. The Poke Tacos were refreshing and delicious and the sliders were just unreal - so much sauce (in the best way). They weren't all that spicy either. My friends decided on the Tiramisu French Toast, which looked better than it tasted - gorgeous presentation though - and the Crabcake Benedict (delicious, but one of those dishes where the first bite is the best and then it slowly declines from there). For the table, we also ordered the Cinnamon Roll, which everyone loved. We also got another round of drinks - an Aperol Spritz for me (perfectly made) and the Alibi and Fable Of Bees for my friends (both fantastic). They really are great with their cocktails at the Dorian. Overall, I loved this spot and would happily return for brunch.

Yelp
We came here for drinks and dinner last night. My husbands work had a holiday party nearby so we decided to try this place out beforehand for drinks and dinner (we made a reservation). It looked really cute place and the reviews were also decent. Drinks were good but service to be desired. We got the Libertine, Alibi and Don Juan. All were tasty. Service-- We tried to order a round of drinks for over 30 minutes. A guy took our order (he had a very strange haircut) and then walked off and forgot our order. He came back but wouldn't make eye contact with us.... 45 minutes of waiting we got this female bartender and she made the drinks very quickly. Honestly we would have left if we didn't have dinner reservations here already. As for dinner we ordered the salmon and gnocchi. Both used the same sauce. Food was decent. Service also left to be desired. Our waitress took our order and the food did come out but she didn't check on us until we were done and waiting for a while to get the bill. We got sat on the bar side so it was also extremely loud and I wouldn't recommend anyone come here for dinner. I could barely hear my husband and I was next to him. In short- I would come here for drinks it the bar wasn't too busy. But if it's busy, I'd keep walking somewhere else. And I wouldn't come here for dinner again. Especially if I got sat on the bar side. We were trying for a nice dinner before a party and it wasn't relaxing, just pretty stressful.

Yelp
Came here for a brunch with my girls on a bachelorette trip and had a lovely time! The ambiance was really beautiful and unique with tons of plants and was overall very elegant. It's a fun brunch place to come dressed up to! The tiramisu French toast sounded amazing and there was no way we weren't going to order it. The tiramisu flavor comes in with the butter they added to it and I thought it was genuinely unique and delicious. The shakshuka sounded really good to me and I've never had it before. I loved the eggs and deep, delicious flavors in the sauce. I tried to scoop the eggs and sauce onto the bread but before I knew it, the bread was done and the sauce was barely touched. I ordered a second slice of bread to go with it. I wish it came with more bread and also more absorbent bread. Overall the food and ambiance was lovely and I would absolutely come back again!

Yelp
One of my favorite happy hours in town! I almost come here weekly for the oysters - it's hard to beat the quality of Hog Island Oysters for only $1.75 each. Although I do remember when they were only a $1 each... On top of the oysters they offer truffle fries and sliders. The sliders are awesome and you can choose to get them spicy, which I recommend! I also recently tried their Don Juan cocktail and that is my new favorite go to. Its great to find a happy hour spot that also serves great food at great prices!

Yelp
We we enjoy going to the Dorian. The staff is super friendly and we mostly sit at the bar. So far we have only had the apps but we have to order entrees next time. Again we sit inside and we love the "library" decor .... As if we were in a country lodge. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Yelp
How did I not know about this happy hour?! Heck out the menu. The 6$ vodka martini is fire - and if you like it especially dirty, then this is your spot. Martini aside - the team is a skilled 'mixology' bartender crew, who really take pride and joy into their cocktail making! Oysters: get em - happy hour or not (comparatively I will say to skip Macondrays happy hour oysters and go here instead) Ambiance: it's beautiful with lots of spaces to perch up at indoors; the room has an old English Victorian feel. See you soon

Yelp
While walking around the Marina, my friend and I stumbled upon The Dorian and decided to check it out. We came around 5:30 p.m. without any reservations and were seated immediately indoors! We lucked out as it was just in time to take advantage of their happy hour. Happy hour runs from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays-Sundays. Their happy hour menu has several small bites and drinks available. My friend ordered the Lobster Hush Puppies, Truffle Fries, as well as a few drinks. The food which was tasty and of high quality came out before the drinks. The real draw for me was the impressive layout and captivating decorations of the restaurant. The restaurant's ambiance boasted a casually modern yet rustic chic feel to it. Service during happy hour was great as our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. As the evening progressed, service became a bit slower but we didn't feel rushed at all as time got to the best of us. The Dorian is located in the trendy Marina District. They have seating available both inside and outside with a wonderful open bar and live music. Parking is street only or at nearby garages. It was a pleasant place to spontaneously check out during happy hour.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed with this restaurant. Located in the heart of San Francisco the Dorian is a chic, modern, restaurant and bar with an upscale feel to it. Interior was really inviting and had beautifully intricate decor from the walls down to the furniture. We had a reservation around 7pm and upon walking in it almost gave off the club vibe which wasn't exactly what we had in mind. Loads of people crowding the hostess stand as you enter in the bar area. When we made it to our table the waitress came by once to drop off waters and take drink orders and we waited quite some time until we saw her again, my friend actually had to flag her down. Once we ordered and the food arrived, depression set in. A friend ordered the salmon cooked to medium and the piece of fish was extremely raw, the grilled cheese and soup was super small for what you pay for, and my salad was just alright - flavor profile was okay but chicken seemed a little undercooked and there was hardly any dressing, if you like earthy flavors this might just be your dish! At the end of the day, the space was beautiful, just not what we were looking for when having a dinner with friends. Service and food were both lack luster and I don't know that this would be my first choice in San Francisco next time we're in town.

Yelp
Food & Drinks (5/5) This was our pregame for the night. We ordered some starters to share: Truffle Fries, Crispy Chicken Sliders, and Arancini. They were all great! I would reorder the Truffle Fries next time since they are so shareable and the truffle flavor paired great with our drinks. For drinks, I got the Story Teller and my friends got the All Day Frosé and Rosé. I can't recommend the Story Teller enough! Our server recommended it along with the Head in the Clouds. I think it may be my new favorite drink. I was hesitant because I've had mixed experiences with elderflower, but the drink was more pineapple-forward. Everyone agreed that my drink was the best one. Price (4/5) A little on the pricier side - each starter is around $10-15 and each drink will run you ~$13. Wait Time (5/5) We came on a Saturday evening ~6pm and were seated immediately in the inside left booth area. Ambience (5/5) Beautiful interior! Vibes were great and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Restrooms were pretty clean. Service (5/5) Our server was great and everyone was friendly. Parking/Access (5/5) We took rideshare here so can't speak for parking, but this is a busy area. I would definitely come back and get the Story Teller again! I feel like this place is better for happy hour/bar hopping rather than a sit-down restaurant.

Yelp
Unique atmosphere, our server was great, drinks were good but the food wasn't great. I don't recommend the 21-day Dry Aged Rib Eye, it was so chewy & rubbery, didn't taste good. The Caesar Salad had so much anchovy dressing and cheese, the smell of the anchovy was overpowering. The Devil Egg appetizer tasted ok. I'm also not impressed with the Mussels All'Acqua Pazza. They have photo booth which I think is fun.

Yelp
Great for big groups and birthdays- but the food is pretty bland. They have a champagne deal where for every bottle you order the price decreases (restarts after 4 bottles). Convenient for alcohol-heavy brunches! They also gave us free froze shots which was really nice. The food was just not very good though and neither were the lattes. Between the burger, breakfast burrito, and huevos rancheros, most of our table didn't like the dishes.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place with excellent cocktails, great atmosphere, and delicious food, look no further than The Dorian. This San Francisco hotspot has everything you need for a memorable night out. Let's start with the cocktails. The Dorian's mixologists are true artists, creating drinks that are both beautiful and delicious. Whether you're in the mood for something classic like an Old Fashioned or something more adventurous like a Libertine they have you covered. The attention to detail in every cocktail is impressive, from the perfectly crushed ice to the carefully chosen garnishes. You can tell that they put a lot of thought and effort into every drink they serve. The vibe at The Dorian is equally impressive. It's the kind of place that feels both upscale and laid-back at the same time. The decor is a perfect blend of Victorian elegance and modern touches, with plush seating, chandeliers, and intricate wallpaper. It's the kind of place where you can dress up and feel fancy, but still feel comfortable and relaxed. Now, let's talk about the food. The Dorian has a fantastic menu, with a range of options to suit every taste. Their oysters are some of the freshest and most flavorful I've ever had, and the fish & chips are crispy and satisfying. But the real standout for me is the mac & cheese. It's creamy and cheesy with just the right amount of crunch on top. It's the kind of dish that you'll want to order again and again. Overall, The Dorian is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for great drinks, delicious food, and a fun atmosphere. Whether you're looking for a romantic date spot or a place to catch up with friends, The Dorian has something for everyone.

Yelp
We came here on a Friday night for some drinks after dinner at another restaurant close by. This is located on the tail end of chestnut street, and street parking was easy to find on Lombard. The inside was really well designed with a nice ambiance. They had a live DJ playing house music, the music was pretty good to our surprise! It wasn't too crowded inside and we could hear each other pretty well despite the music. They also have a fun photo booth that can fit at least 4 people, and you can email the photos to yourself! We first ordered the Sparrow- we didn't really enjoy this drink, it was a bit sweet and tasted minty. I also ordered a whiskey sour and the bar tender made it very well. She also gave us free frose shots which was really nice! Will defiantly come back again to try their food!

Yelp
Had brunch here today before going to the beach. Had a reservation and was able to bump it up 45 min early, since we got into town earlier than expected, which was very nice of them. They get busy! So reservations are definitely recommended. Service was fast and friendly, drinks and food came out in a timely fashion, even though they were very busy. I got the libertine cocktail and it was very delicious. Sweet but not too sweet. Very simple presentation which made it almost elegant. For food I got the crab cake Benedict and added avocado. FANTASTIC! loved that they didn't add more bread on the bottom like most places do. Personally i feel it's not needed with the breading already in the dish. The curry hollandaise was very flavorful a nice twist. Definitely recommend this place for brunch.

Yelp
Came here for a Sunday brunch, this place is great for big group seating in nice comfy booths! The frosé was the highlight of my meal, I loved the nerds garnish! The dorian burger was decent, nothing amazing. I wish it were one patty instead of two. And the fries could use some work, they really weren't anything special. I also tried the oysters which were good! My friend tried the brownie & ice cream, and honestly I would pass - it tasted more like a fudge-y mousse, opposed to an actual chewy brownie. Overall decent meal, but I think there are better brunch spots in sf.

Yelp
We came here after eating in the area and wanted to have some food and drinks. Looks like a neat area with a 2 story section and bar smack dab in the center. The food looked amazing and the drink selection diverse. We had the dorian burgers, truffle fries, dorian chicken sliders (spicy) espresso martini, libertine, don juan, story teller, and for dessert, dorian bread pudding. -Dorian Burgers: They were solid, but felt tiny and also the fries were very salty. -Truffle Fries: Standard as any establishment that serves truffle fries. -Dorian Chicken Sliders: Wouldn't recommend, spicy is not even spicy and was too heavily sauced. -Espresso Martini: My first time having one so I can't make a fair judgment. -Libertine: Ok, and probably wouldn't get again. -Don Juan: Was good! Story Teller: Was tasty and would get again. -Dorian Bread Pudding: The real kicker and would come just for the bread pudding itself haha. Overall, I think the food was definitely pricey for what it's worth. The drinks weren't bad and they were decently priced. I think that the bread pudding itself is worth coming for just because it was that good. Service was also very slow even on a non busy day so that was a downside because there were 3 servers around but no one to take our order in a reasonable manner of time.

Yelp
I went to the Dorian for my birthday earlier this month and was instantly attracted to the decor and loved the set up of the restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful and we got server within a reasonable amount of time for a busy weekend day with reservations. The food was really good and fresh, i ordered the smash burger and it was so juicy and fresh. I enjoyed their Refresh mock tail and my friends all enjoyed their cocktails. My only complaint is that there was a strong odor of B.O. by our table. I wish there was some kind of ventilation in the restaurant to help with that.

Yelp
The Dorian is a go-to spot in the marina! Very modern and glamorous vibes with jeweled tone decor and crystal chandelier. Both their brunch and dinner are great. Can't go wrong with their truffle fries and their chicken sliders-highly recommend the Nashville hot as the plain are a little dry. Awesome cocktails-great for a date night or a large group as they can accommodate as well.

Yelp
I really liked this place! It was sooo yummy. Honestly I'd go back just for the appetizers! The Buratta with tomatoes and peaches is to die for! And the truffle fries are the perfect amount of truffle. Mom loved her burger and regular fries, they were seasoned really well. And I liked the sliders! They were a great flavor and pretty spicy!! Their soda was a flat and the water was not good lol. But other than that, it was great!

Yelp
Came here on Sunday for a pre Father's day brunch and had a wonderful experience! I live in the area and have walked by this spot hundreds of times but have never actually dined here! I did come here for the 2022 NYE event and had a phenomenal night so came into this brunch with good vibes :) To start, we were quickly seated without a reservation at Sunday brunch. Even with 10-15 people piling up in line over the course of our meal, I never once saw anyone have to wait. We started with drinks -- my family got bloody marys and I got the libertine cocktail! Shortly after ordering I definitely regretted my decision and wish I had known about the frosé! It is a pink blended vodka and wine drink with nerds on top...yum! Sadly, by the time I tried to switch it I was too late. My drink was still delicious..highly recommend for a light and refreshing choice! The boys said the bloody marys were phenomenal too! For brunch, I went with the breakfast burrito. My dad got the huevos rancheros and my brother wanted the burger but they were all sold out. Was kind of confused how you sell out first thing in the morning but what can we do! Our food came out quickly and everything was delicious. The portions aren't huge but then again not many places are these days. Despite mixed reviews from others, I would return again!

Yelp
The Dorian is a super cool space and they've have different vibes based on where you are seated. It skews a bit more to the pricy side but a great place for brunch with friends. The mimosas were solid but again a little pricy. The crab cake Benedict is absolutely fantastic but it's not the biggest portion as it doesn't come with any sides. The French toast was okay and eggs were a bit bland but the bacon was super good. The service was pretty good and they brought some hot sauce to add some flavor to the eggs and the food came out fast.

Yelp
Came here for a team dinner, based upon the recommendation of a former coworker. Showed up with a party of 8 with a reservation, and they were thankfully able to seat us in short time, despite having a packed house. Our server came to take our order in very short order, and made sure to check on us throughout our dining experience. The only hiccup came when we were done with our meal, and our server was nowhere to be found. 30mins of sitting around trying to flag down someone to bring us a check, before we could finally wrap things up. We ordered a wide variety of appetizers, including: -The Devil's Eggs -Roasted Brussel Sprouts -Ahi Poke Tacos -White Bean Hummus -Grilled Artichokes -Truffle Fries Aside from the truffle fries, didn't really feel like there was a sizable portion offered for the price. And none of the apps really stood out as that amazing. Opted for the Dorian burger for my main, which while good, was not overtly memorable. Live music is offered inside, and limited street parking is available in the surrounding blocks.

Yelp
This was such a cutie brunch spot. They do require you to be vaccinated upon entry, so have those cards ready. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They'll give you a choice if it isn't too busy, so we chose to sit inside. The decor was beautiful, they have a full bar and TVs that were playing sports. The inside is pretty spacey, so I can't imagine too long of a wait if you did have to wait. Ordered the pancake combo with eggs and bacon and the breakfast burrito. THE PANCAKES THOUGH?!?! Yes ma'am. The syrup that came with them was actually like an organic agave or honey syrup. It wasn't aunt jemima, I'll tell you that! LOL I looove syrup, but this was such a different touch and I was a fan. The burrito had tons of eggs and rice which I wasn't a Huge fan of...there was barely any meat, and they put everything else on the side which is weird to me. Because of this, I dropped off a star. But I want to learn how to make these pancakes and I need the brand of syrup they use lol

Yelp
Came here with a couple of my friends to catch up and hang out in the city. I'm glad I made a reservation since it was a Saturday night and it was very busy as I expected it would be. The interior was decorated nicely and the cocktails were good and reasonably priced. I ordered the burrata appetizer which came with melon slices and prosciutto and toasted bread which was delicious. As an entree I ordered the chicken sliders appetizer which were really good and filling. At the end of our meal my friends and I were walking out and before reaching the door we noticed a light and a curtain behind the host podium. I asked him what it was and he responded that it was a photo booth for their guests to use. It was a such a cute way to end our night and we greatly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
As a San Francisco Native who grew up just down the street from Chestnut, I've seen this corner of Fillmore and Chestnut street change over the years. The new spot on the corner is The Dorian and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised! First off, the staff is outstanding. Friendly and their style is effortlessly chic. As long as you have a reservation for a booth or table you'll be good to go, but I recommend you come a little earlier to enjoy the bar and explore! They have a beautiful photo booth that is big enough to hold 5 people standing and emails the photos to you for free. Can we also talk about the wallpaper?! Talk about attention to detail, the owners have outdone themselves. From the dining area to the photo booth and yes, even the bathroom, it feels as if you've stepped into an episode of White Lotus and are living your best, luscious, life! They live up to their motto 'Good times for good times sake!' Because that's truly what you will experience here, a fabulously good time. I recommend the following: 1)shishito peppers 2) deviled eggs 3) hot chicken sliders 4) Hummus 5) Truffle fries Sorry about the lack of food photo, but I truly just had so much fun there I forgot to take any haha. Create food memories, Isabelle Pinard

Yelp
Food was great! Champagne smells like farts though :( recommend the crab cake Benedict

Yelp
Vibrant spot on chestnut with lots of young people. Got the Nashville chicken sliders and like them, not too spicy! Not overly amazing imo but it's good!

Yelp
Great service for us at the bar. Liked the food a lot although somewhat limited menu. Enjoyed the overall experience.
