Savannah Just Keeps Getting Cooler—Here’s Where to Soak in the City’s Creative Buzz | Vogue

"Occupying a beautifully restored 1853 townhouse on a leafy residential street in Savannah’s Historic District, this luxury, adults-only B&B feels intimate, exquisitely detailed, and imbued with palpable warmth. Interiors by Kirby Caldwell blend saturated hues, rich textures, and bold art. Each of the 16 rooms and suites is individually designed, pairing original features—fireplaces, stained glass windows, glimmering Murano chandeliers—with four-poster beds and vintage Oushak rugs. The “home, but better” atmosphere is elevated by a guest-only bar for an Old Fashioned or whatever cordial you fancy, as well as complimentary breakfast and evening canapé (caviar anyone?) service by James Beard Award–nominated chef Jacques Larson." - Lindsay Cohn

Chef Jacques Larson Heads Up New Hotel Restaurant in Savannah | Eater Carolinas

"Currently open at 14 East Oglethorpe Avenue, this boutique hotel added a full kitchen during a two-year renovation to enable event buy-outs. Under chef Jacques Larson, it serves an à la carte breakfast for guests with rotating items like acai bowls and soft-boiled eggs with toast soldiers, and hosts an evening reception with cheese, charcuterie, and canapés. That kitchen will also help supply Lester’s when it opens." - Erin Perkins

We had a phenomenal experience staying at The Douglas. Every detail felt thoughtful, from the beautiful decor that transports you to another era, to the comfortable beds and luxurious linens. I personally can be a little particular about my accommodations and I will say that The Douglas got it right! I especially appreciated the smaller gestures like organic soaps, unscented bubble bath for that glorious soaker tub, white-noise sound machine for deep sleep, and glass water bottles... Because who likes plastic!? Breakfast was truly remarkable, and the customer service was genuinely attentive. The bartender was also fabulous—I told him, “something bubbly and fresh but not too sweet,” and with that, he introduced me to my new favorite drink....the French 75! He even gave me a history lesson about it. The loaner bikes were a very nice surprise and such a great way to explore the city. The location of The Douglas is absolutely perfect and close enough to get to the hot spots by foot.

I stayed at The Douglas last week for a night, and it was an absolute dream. I wish it could've been longer. I felt as if I stepped into another world, one that is always restful, everything is intentional, and nothing is rushed. They make you feel very special, and the attention to detail in this place is inspiring. The cocktails were incredible, the bartender for sure knew what he was doing. He even taught us a little history behind the old fashion. The breakfast was a treat, and the service that morning was also incredible. The place takes its time to know you, and I would highly recommend.

The former Balestone Hotel has undergone a major transformation, and it shows! I stayed at The Douglas a few weeks ago and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. The breakfast alone is reason enough to return, truly one of the best I’ve ever had at a hotel. Every dish is crafted with high-quality ingredients and presented beautifully. You can tell real thought and care go into every detail. The location is also unbeatable, you’re right in the heart of the city, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and local attractions. One of the standout features is the hotel’s private bar, reserved exclusively for guests. It has a hidden, speakeasy-like feel that adds a layer of charm and exclusivity to the experience. It’s the perfect spot for a nightcap or a quiet conversation. Another thing I loved is that no two rooms are alike. Each one has its own unique design and personality, which makes the stay feel more personal and thoughtfully curated. What really sets The Douglas apart though is the exceptional customer service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. They’ve cultivated an atmosphere that feels both elevated and approachable. I’m happy to say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and can’t wait to return.

I've been following The Douglas' instagram for the past month, watching with excitement as they prepared to open. I generally try to give new businesses some time to find their stride, but by chance, I had a meeting in Savannah that lined up with their very first week open and decided to give it a try — everything felt seamless. I travel a lot for work and pleasure, and real hospitality is rare these days. The Douglas got it right. The building is beautiful and full of character, but it’s the people who make it special. Every employee I met was warm, welcoming, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. It felt lived in, thoroughly thought out, attentive, but private. Breakfast was incredible — fresh, diverse, and far beyond what you’d expect from a hotel. I even had the chance to meet their Culinary Director, Jacques Larson, who was down from Charleston that week. He couldn’t have been kinder, and it was clear his influence is behind the amazing food. The best part was that it's all included in the rate! It felt non-transactional. My room was stylish and comfortable, with nice touches like a Marshall speaker that made it feel personal and not at all cookie-cutter. It really felt like staying at a friend’s historic home — if that friend had impeccable taste and great cocktails. I don't generally write reviews, but when things are better than good, it's worth the effort. Can’t wait to come back and see the next part of their hotel and restaurant take life.

We loved the Douglas- the design and decor is chic and comfortable. We had several drinks at the bar which was so cozy, the breakfast the following AM was so delicious. We loved the hotel overall and enjoyed exploring Savannah on foot from the hotel. We will be back- thanks for having us!

The Douglas exceeded all of my expectations. The interiors and atmosphere strike the perfect balance between upscale and inviting. The rooms are beautifully appointed with top-tier amenities. The breakfast is over-the-top good, order the shrimp and grits! Best of all, the staff was attentive, gracious, and incredibly detail-oriented, making the stay extra special.

Beautiful hotel with the most accommodating and helpful staff. The level of service was next level. They were more than willing to accommodate my schedule without hesitating. You just don't get that these days. The staff was just so great. The room was comfortable, beautiful, and well appointed. The breakfast and bar were great. Overall a wonderful experience and look forward to coming back next time I'm in town.

Well thought out boutique hotel in the heart of Savannah’s historic area. Stayed last night and have to say it’s impressive. The little touches, a Marshall Speaker, Dyson Hair Dryer and a Hatch White Noise Machine made the room feel like a home away from home. Don’t forget Lester’s for a bite and cocktail!
