"Despite just being pigeons in cuter clothing, doves are generally considered to be a symbol of romance. So, it tracks that this Ruinart-pouring European-ish restaurant just off Notting Hill’s Portobello Road is all sunset hues, Café De Paris butter, and prolonged eye contact over fior di latte soft serve. The excellent burger comes with onions cooked in champagne, and there are only 10 available per service. Trying to secure one is a great way to test whether you’ve still got game—of the juicy burger prowess." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley
"Providing everything you would expect from a Notting Hill neighbourhood restaurant, Dove is the latest project from chef-restaurateur Jackson Boxer, taking over the space he once ran as Orasay. Bright, relaxed and simply decorated, it specialises in seasonal and high-quality produce across a menu that’s ideal for sharing. Dishes vary in size, from whole grilled fish and half a roasted chicken to snacks like fried potato pizzette with bonito, burrata and mortadella. The wine list offers something for everyone, with almost every choice available by the glass." - Michelin Inspector

"Despite pouring Ruinart by the glass, this European-ish restaurant in Notting Hill feels refreshingly unpretentious. Families of six pile onto tables for roast chicken made with Café De Paris butter and moreish fries (cooked with duck fat, of course). Early bookers are rewarded with excellent cheeseburgers—only 10 are made each service. For an extra-special dinner, the private dining room is like something out of The Great Gatsby." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley
"Escape the scrum of Portobello and cosy up with a gooey lasagne at this easy-going modern European restaurant. Dove’s menu is an enticing read, with just 10 off-menu cheeseburgers available per service, and things like a whole sea bream with confit garlic made to share alongside bowls of crispy duck fat chips. At lunch, families pile onto the cushy banquettes but, come dinner, it’s perfect for a date that ends with fior di latte soft serve." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Of all the burgers on this list, Dove’s is the most elusive. The Notting Hill restaurant makes 10 per service from the offcuts of its bavette. When these babies are gone, they’re gone. It could smell like a gimmick, but what it actually smells like is melted gorgonzola draped over a juicy, thick patty. Uninterested in smashburger fads and best shared due to its richness, it’s combined with onions cooked in champagne and butter, and is blushing pink in the middle." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
