5 Restaurant Pranks for Diners and Staff

"You think you’re at an unassuming kopitiam on Circular Road in Singapore for a beer and a good bowl of wanton mee—that is, until you open the fridge door and find yourself in another world. Enter The Dragon Chamber, the newest speakeasy-style restaurant and bar by the Ebb & Flow Group and Tung Lok Group. It’s a fridge we have in our kopitiam and in it we have all our own beer labels. But then you open the door and instead of chilled beer, you find yourself in a darkened passageway covered with edgy artwork from local and regional artists such as Sabotage, Mister Tucks and Riandy Karuniawan. The idea is that this is like a portal that takes you from the street into The Dragon Chamber. On the menu are hearty Chinese-American eats as well as some more unconventional, prank-worthy items: think braised crocodile foot and mammal innards." - Rachel Tan

6 secret drinking spots around the world to uncover - SilverKris

"Tucked away behind what looks like a buzzy Boat Quay coffee shop, I squeezed through a glass-fronted refrigerator that swings open into a tiny passageway and discovered a modern Chinese bar and restaurant designed to mimic Chinatown gambling dens and secret-society hangouts, its walls covered with striking artwork by local and regional artists. The drinks pay homage to Asian culture with inventive concoctions such as the Java Royale (java syrup and calamansi juice) and the Land of the Rising Sun (bourbon-infused yuzu). I also noted a time-limited lunch promotion: until 30 December 2020, an Aperol Spritz is S$15++ (11am–3pm, Tue–Sun) and there are opportunities to win exclusive Aperol merchandise by enquiring with staff." - Vanessa Tai

Google
Interesting concept and vibe. Tried almost their whole menu, so some highlights here: the popular Soft shell crab with hokkaido scallop and crispy noodle tastes good but the crispiness is gone after drenched in the sauce. The dragon's claw is has the herbal taste but he crocodile claw is quite fatty and can get overwhelmed after a while. The truffle beef hor fun has deep fried noodles so it's crispy but the beef is quite chewy. The pineapple flaming beef is my favourite, the beef is very tender.

Was brought here by my groomsmen for my bachelor's night. Any hidden place has inherent intrigue value and that's what you get. Went on a saturday night, my friends made a reservation but I think you may be able to walk in as it wasn't too crowded. What we ordered, and my thoughts: - Truffle vege dumplings Above average. Not good, not bad. Ok as a starter. - Pork collagen with prawn balls and clams Was sweet and delicious! Soup was smooth and felt healthy and warming. - Golden fried mapo tofu with crab meat So good, we had to order rice to eat up all the sauce. - Flying noodles Always a visual treat. Tasted good enough in the mouth too thankfully. - Wagyu truffle beef hor fun Guess you can't not order this as it's what they're known for. You also can't escape the truffle smell that hits you when you walk in. Lived up to its expectation though. - Flaming Pineapple beef Oooof. This was perhaps the best dish. Worth going once for the vibes I guess, and to try out some of their signature dishes. Place sure has a cool vibe. Though I may not go back again as I generally prefer to dine in more brightly lit places!

Google
A concept dinning experience for Chinese Zhichar. The food is well cooked with good amount of wok hei. The place appears slightly cramped and dim (likely due to the concept of this being a chamber). Entrance to the dining room is behind a hidden door. Reservations required and there is time slots for entry into dining areas

Google
We maanged to finally book a table and it didn't disappoint! The food was absolutely amazing! And the service was fantastic! The flying Noodles and the sauce were delicious and a good size for sharing between 4! The firecracker chicken and wagyu beef hor fun were definitely not to be missed either! The atmosphere was busy but really chilled and exciting. Was a great destination for friends visiting, the theatrics impressed all of us, the Service was on point and made special for my friends honeymoon. Definitely need to book, and hopefully, they will find a new location, just a good.

Google
Great vibes, atmosphere, decorations and food! Entrance with a "secret door" which leads you to a corridor and into a hall with sophisticated old Hong Kong back alley "tea house" kind of decorations. This time we went deeper into the restaurant into a more private dining area and it's pretty cosy, we book in advance the big table which can sit a good 6 pax, spacious and a sense of private dining. The ever famous flaming beef in pineapple is as always nice with it's meat so tender that it does even taste kinda like pork belly fat, it melts in your mouth! Truffle wagyu hor fun is another amazing and superb dish not to be missed! The truffle taste is not artificial and I like how they serve the gravy in a separate tea pot which they only pours the gravy over when served which maintains the texture of the kway teow noodles, the wagyu meat is definitely tender and good quality, we ordered the big size portion which definitely good enough for 4-5 pax to share. The pork belly has the Korea way of eating which they have the cabbage and radish for you to wrap together to it, it's definitely another wow dish with it's softness and juiciness of the fat. We requested for the complimentary birthday cake and the taste really wow us, the chocolate is so rich and creamy, for such a slice of cake it could have been sold at a good $10-$15. My old folks had much compliment on the cake as it does tasted one of the few nicest chocolate cake they had eaten. Staff is also friendly and place is clean too! The staff even turn off the Aircon for a few minutes when the cake was brought out as the Aircon would blow off the candle fire which I genuinely felt it's quite a good gesture.

Google
Would recommend their beef hor fun - It was really good. The beef was tender and juicy and the hor fun has the wok key taste that we are looking for. For the fried chicken, it was really spicy like what the other reviews mentioned. So be prepared to spit fire like a dragon if you are not used to spicy food. The staff service was 100/10 because they were super attentive to us and kept on checking on us to see if we were okay even though there was a huge group. At the end of the night, they even gave us a slice of oreo cheese cake and it was delicious.

Google
The food was mostly amazing. The truffle wagyu hor fun is a must try. The fried cabbage is very nice as well. The deco is very unique and had my family talking about it cos we had to enter via a ‘wine chiller’. The only complaint I had was that the music was a little too loud and noisy (we had an infant with us) but it’s really part of the atmosphere.

Google
First time visiting it and it was on a Friday. We made a last minute booking for 830pm but when we reached - we were asked to wait until 9pm :( Will suggest people to make booking in advanced. We ordered the mapo tofu - and I personally like it, is a special fried tofu, highly recommended this! I really like the guy who served our table - superb good service. He overheard that I don’t eat beef so the beef horfun was served with horfun plus separate plate of beef (observant!)

Yelp
So good, came back for lunch the next day. They offer happy hour from 11-3 and 5-6:30. Everything they do is top notch. I didn't get it, because I don't like shrimp and scallops, but the ramen presentation is top notch. They make their ramen in house too. Or they wouldn't be able to do it that way. The beef pineapple also had a beautiful, firey, presentation. A little more fat in the meat than I like. But I had plenty of lean meats too. The fried rice was on point. I could have made a meal out of it.

Yelp
Walk by the Dagon Chamber and you'll see a seemingly bored woman sitting in a barren, sparsely-decorated dining room. Hidden in the back of this speakeasy is one of Singapore coolest restaurants. Walk through door posing as a faux beer cooler to be greeted by the real restaurant - dimly lit with electric highlights. While the speakeasy theme and trendy décor introduce you to this hip spot, the food is what will keep bringing you back. The firecracker chicken is aptly named - crunchy and extremely hot. Cheeseburger rolls and Flaming Pineapple Beef were fun. But the star of the show was the Wagyu Beef Truffle Hor Fun - one of the best dishes I have ever had.

Yelp
Amazing experience overall. It is a restaurant speakeasy whereby you go through a hidden door to get to the restaurant. Once inside, the decor is very eclectic. The presentation of the food is very good too whereby they mix the noodles in front of you - the wagyu truffle beef hor fun and the soft shell crab and Hokkaido scallop crispy noodles. It was very entertaining. The D*** soup was very flavourful if you can get past the ingredients. True cheeseburger rolls were tasty. The firecracker chicken was not my favourite as it had that mala spice which is so numbing that you can't taste anything. The desserts were good as well.

Yelp
The Dragon Chamber was a unique experience. Love the mystic, the red entrance door, the food and service. Would definitely recommend trying this restaurant out!

Yelp
Crispy chicken was stellar! Such a fun restaurant. We were here for the f1 race and enjoyed the entire dinner.

Yelp
The most amazing Chinese fusion restaurant in a cool, speakeasy environment. The flavors were exceptional and everything we ordered was delicious. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Cool speakeasy vibe in a trendy environment; this restaurant has solid Asian fusion throughout its menu. I enjoyed the truffle hor fun a lot and that was my favorite dish. Expect to pay about $30 per person for just food and everything is family style.

Yelp
The uninitiated might just eat the wanton noodle and move on. I had no idea what I walked into when my friend proceeded to open the huge deli case. I would describe this as fusion Asian with a retro secret society ambiance. We had the signature Wagyu beef truffle hor fun with a side of kai lan and lemongrass jelly for dessert. The beef was excellent and very flavorful. If you love food with intrigue this place is for you.

Yelp
Secret restaurant hidden behind a fridge! Great ambience. Great food. Perfect for little gatherings. Seats are limited so would recommend to make a reservation prior. one of a kind experience
