The Drover

August 2025: Came here for a team dinner and had a very enjoyable meal. The place reminds me of a traditional old school steak 🥩 house with dark wood and a rustic feel. Ordered the rib eye whiskey 🥩. It was a boneless cut and had a nice whiskey finish on the pallet. I had a baked potato 🥔 as my side with butter and chives. I was very happy with the potato. My meal came with a choice of soup or salad. I chose the salad bar and got a nice salad. Drink options were pretty good. I had a zip line IPA from a local brewery. Would definitely come back again for more delicious steak 🥩!

If you’re looking for a delicious steak, “The Drover” is the place to be. It is a quaint and cozy restaurant. Eric is a great bartender and had wonderful customer service, looking forward to going back. Seating can be limited at times so it is preferred to make reservations or you can sit at the bar. Highly recommended!

This is a quintessential Omaha steak house. The lighting is dim, the atmosphere is cozy, the staff is fast, friendly and knowledgeable, and the steaks are cooked to perfection. The drink service was right on top of us which was great. The onion rings appetizer had a unique and delicious peppery taste. The salad bar is just fine and the Whiskey Steaks are superb. This place has been in business for a long time for a reason!

Drover’s feels like a true local gem with classic Midwestern steakhouse charm. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a perfectly cooked medium-rare ribeye, paired with a great glass of Cabernet. The salad bar was a solid choice—the blue cheese dressing tasted homemade and was a highlight. The bartender was friendly and attentive, rounding out an excellent meal.

Solid steak, perhaps the best in Omaha, but definitely has room for improvement. It is a good value - the steak, baked potato, and soup for one price (along with bread at the beginning of the meal) is a good amount of food. The ribeye was cooked medium rare, the filet was cooked more on the rare side. It was difficult to taste the whiskey marinade but maybe there was a small hint of sweetness. The salad is a better value than the soup because it’s unlimited but I liked the red pepper soup too. The baked potato seemed very rich with the sour cream, get it on the side. The side of asparagus was plain and underwhelming.

I love how simple the menu is. I feel like that’s when you know it’s going to be good. I had the Whiskey Ribeye with a loaded baked potato and salad. Steak was delicious and cooked a perfect medium rare. The baked potato was wonderful and had just the right amount of toppings. You got to go to the salad bar to make your own and everything was fresh. Our waitress was nice but I wouldn’t have minded her making it over to the table a bit more. I like to drink a lot of waters/Diet Coke and found myself waiting a bit to get refills. Other than that she did well. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Dimmed warm yellow lights and a cozy bar. Highly recommend trying but make a reservation if you can, especially on the weekends.

Dined at The Drover last night as a guest of a large party. I ordered the Whiskey Rib-Eye with asparagus as the side. The salad bar is fine, but nothing special; certainly not worth paying the asking price by itself. The rib-eye was excellent both in quality and preparation. They didn't trim off the woody ends of the asparagus, which is a rookie mistake in my opinion, hence my knocking off a star.

The Drover is small on the inside, ceilings are low and older building. However it is very intimate. My husband and I had the Whiskey Ribeye baked potatoes and salad bar. Steak is amazing nice and tender. The bartender is always good with the drinks. Nice and strong. This is my go to place for a good steak.

On a trek across the country and found this steakhouse while looking through yelp for dinner recommendations in Omaha! After reading a little about what to expect, we decided to have dinner here and sure weren't disappointed! Our table ordered the Drover prime rib (to share for two of us) and another in the party had the evening special 12 ounce bone in filet. Each of the entrees comes with the salad bar which is standard-- nothing out of the ordinary. We had the prime rib prepared with the whisky sauce and it was so delicious, cooked to perfection. As a side, we had baked potatoes and the sautéed mushroom-- all were equally tasty. We were able to get a last minute reservation so we were seated immediately. A cocktail waitress stopped by soon after to get our drink order and then our waiter came by within the first 5 minutes to get our order. Water was refilled and we felt the amount of attention we had throughout the meal was appropriate. The restaurant is a little dimly lit, but overall a great steakhouse feel. While it was a little pricey, it was definitely worth it!

We've gone here several times because my brother loves it, but I have never been super impressed. The vibe is very old-school steakhouse, which is cool. I will say it was oddly FREEZING last night the restaurant, and I say that as a 7 months pregnant woman who is always hot. Several members of our party ended up using a blanket that they went and got from the car. The starter bread was very good - soft, warm, plenty of butter. My husband and I both had the loaded baked potato soup, which was fantastic. Several members of our party had the salad bar which was nothing to write home about. I had the burger and fries. It had plenty of blue cheese, which I appreciated, and tons of fries. But as far as taste, it was fine but not great. The rest of our party got steak. Everyone noted that it was incredibly tough. My husband hardly ate any of his, which is not like him. He said he had to chew each piece so long to ensure he didn't choke, and he finally just gave up. We had several servers throughout the meal, but service as a whole was very slow. I would not personally choose to come back here.

It's hard to believe I've lived in Omaha my entire life and had never been to The Drover. Not anymore, baby! My wife and I chose this classic Omaha steakhouse to celebrate our 18th anniversary and it did NOT disappoint. So much bread. So much salad bar... I was a bit concerned I wouldn't have room for the main course, but our steaks were cooked to *perfection* and those sautéed mushrooms... Oh, those sautéed mushrooms! Must. Order. I need a good excuse to come back to The Drover. Thankfully, my birthday is coming up soon...

When you enter in the restaurant, there was no greeting. Had to wait for a couple of minutes to find the host. Took 45 minutes for a medium steak to come!!!! Steak was burned and the waitress was kind of rude and dismissive of the issue. No apology. Got the box to go and cut the burned parts and left it on the plate. Also, all the waitresses seem very tense and not very friendly. I felt that they were unhappy to be at their job. The salad bar was decent and bread was great.

When in Omaha, you gotta have a steak, right? Well, I was in town for Berkshire weekend and had made plans to get dinner at The Drover. Their bourbon selection and emphasis on "whiskey steaks" sold me. I had a reservation, and it was a good thing I made plans ahead: walking in the place was absolutely packed. Tables full of suits talking about things like markets and EBITDA. I saw two folks who tried to walk up get turned away. The service was generally OK despite the capacity. My bread and soup came out fast after putting in my order. However, there was quite a delay before my steak came out, but it was expected. The bread? A warm wheat round loaf, served with salted butter. It was reminiscent of the brown bread at Cheesecake Factory. For my soup, I got the Clam Chowder: not too hot, loaded with potatoes and less loaded on the clams. Drinks? The whiskey selection was indeed pretty good. They had bottles of Weller, EH Taylor, and Blanton's on the bar, which I am sure would impress a bourbon enthusiast. I personally would have liked to see some more craft options. For my entree, I got the Whiskey Ribeye: perfectly cooked, but not sure what made it a "whiskey steak." Didn't taste any influence from any whiskey. It needed a little bit more seasoning, but it was overall a good cut of meat. With an old school lounge meets wild west atmosphere, The Drover satisfied my craving for a classic steak dinner.

In Omaha and looking for a good steak? This is a quaint steakhouse that's about a 10-minute drive from downtown Omaha. I am giving 3 starts because the steak was pretty good, but not amazing. Furthermore, my server forgot my drink and it took a long while to get my food. The best part of my experience was just the atmosphere and decor. If I'm ever back in Omaha, I won't be back here. I think there are other better steak joints in the area if you're just looking for flavor.

This is typically my favorite steakhouse not for the atmosphere but for the food quality. I haven't been here is a year or more but was in town for the week and made reservations with colleagues. Because of the baseball games going on in Omaha we had to stay a good distance outside of Omaha to afford a hotel room but still made reservations to come here. I'm pretty consistent with a 4.5 rating here with the atmosphere pulling the rating down but the food keeping it high. We were seated right away upon on arrival which is pretty uncommon for this place due to the popularity. I was quite disappointed with the price increase on the menu (know it's happening everywhere). I got the whiskey fillet like a normally do and the size seemed a little smaller than normal. Not significant but still smaller, the steak was cooked well but the whiskey filet usually is very tender, flavorful and almost melts in your mouth. This time it wasn't near that. It was a good steak don't get me wrong but it wasn't the whiskey filet that brings people back. My colleague got the prime rib and was disappointed with how dry it was. The service was ok but seemed a bit cold and not as welcoming as normal. I would give this place another try but not more than one more time to improve because I can walk to several steakhouse for good quality without driving for 30 minutes with where I normally stay.

You can't come to Omaha and not go to a steakhouse. Came into town for a wedding and came here and we weren't disappointed. Drover is a true throwback to classic steakhouses. The rich wood paneling, dim lighting, and leather booths create a warm, nostalgic vibe complete with an old school salad bar. Service is top-notch--attentive and gracious without being overbearing. The steaks are perfectly cooked with a beautiful sear, and the sides are rich and satisfying. Had the filet and the sea bass and the sea bass was even one of the best I've had.

First time eating here in probably a year or so. Typically I'm a cheap person so I go for just a sandwich typically but this time I went for the lunch steak special. Of course it's not a top-of-the-line steak, but it was still pretty good and it filled me up. I also enjoyed the salad bar that I chose to get over the soup. Service was very good as well. I'm sure I'll be back sooner than later this time.

Plain and simple! The Drover is absolutely amazing! Can be a bit of a long dinner as they are always slammed but the STEAK IS WORTH IT!!! And the salad bar rocks!

I had a wonderful experience for NYE! As long as you have a reservation, this is a great place to be. They were busy but you could only tell based on the crowded hallway to get to the salad bar. Their whiskey filet is a can't miss! They cook it to perfection every time. Delicious and juicy with a nice crust. Their toffee cheesecake is also wonderful for and after dinner snack. The service is great, delicious drinks and steaks. Can't go wrong!

Food was great. Service mostly friendly but slow. Came in on a Monday night for dinner before NYE. Place was bumping. Very quaint, traditional steak house look. Kitchen is in the open so you can watch the two chefs work their butts off! Everything was very reasonably priced. Got a bottle of Frank Family Cab that was only about 10% over what I could but it for in a store. Started with some onion rings and a very tasty salad bar. We both had the whiskey steaks, one filet and the other ribeye. Each were excellent and worth coming back for again and again. The service was weird. One of the servers mentioned they make a group effort at serving and everyone helps out. The woman that took our wine order was great. Very friendly and cordial. The woman that took our order was a bit cold. The food and check took longer than they should have. Water glass was empty way too long. By the end of the night, I counted 5 people that touched our table during our visit. My gut tells me by not having a dedicated server, no one takes accountability for service. Hence, the numerous shortcomings we saw. Regardless, would return again but sit at the bar.

Ate lunch here while on the work trip. My coworkers knew that I would love the salad bar and I did! Not only that the halibut was amazing! We were in and out pretty quickly. It was very different and fun to feel like I was in a pub. Loved it!

This was the restaurant that made me feel like I was back in my home state . I ordered the 38oz tomahawk with the whiskey marinade. I've eaten a lot of ribeyes in my life but this was the best tasting one I've had in recent memory, if not ever. I put a phone down for scale because there's not a single fruit in this establishment lol. One of the staff offered some A1 steak sauce as a unit of measurement but added "don't put this on there though." Noted, sir. The bread and baked potato were nice and warm, the perfect comfort food. I also did enjoy the salad bar. I hedged on the dessert but ended up getting it bc I already blew past my week's calorie count anyways. I got the homemade turtle cheesecake- it wasn't like any traditional cheesecake that I've had but almost like a delicious fusion of cheesecake and warm bread pudding with all the toppings. Super rich and decadent like how a dessert should be. I'm coming to this restaurant every time I visit home now, thank you for the delicious meal!

The Drover is an Omaha institution, and it happens to be right next door to my office building so we have had many lunches there over the years! The ambiance is definitely old school steak house. It's pretty dim in there (I knocked my water over, it was so dim the first time I went LOL) It's very stuck in the 70s/cowboy style, and is sticking with that for better for worse. It's a little on the pricy side, but you do get what you're paying for. There was a fire at The Drover a few years back, and I was wondering if the rebuild would mean the style would be updated, but it definitely was not. Still old school, wagon wheel out front, Drover. The service is great with very attentive waitstaff who give recommendations and offer opinions on what you might like that day. They've never steered me wrong. I always get the Salad Bar as the side with my entree and it's a pretty good one. Small, but high quality offerings - and they have eggs, thousand island, and black olives, so that wins in my salad-bar book. For entrees, my favorites are the Teriyaki Tenderloin Skewers (if I'm in a lighter-feeling mood) and the Whiskey Grilled Prime Rib, if I'm wanting something heavier. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing light at The Drover, but there are degrees of heaviness to consider. I'm a huge fan of teriyaki anything, so the Teriyaki Tenderloin Skewers are right up my alley. The meat is just as tender as the prime rib, but in smaller bites. But trust me they are NOT too small. There are three humungous squares, grilled up with the teriyaki marinade and served over basmati rice (which is actually very flavorful, as rice goes). It also comes with a strip of grilled veggies (mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes), so if you're a fan of teriyaki, tender meat, and flame grilled veggies - this is for you. The Whiskey Grilled Prime Rib is gigantic - I have never been able to finish it in one go, so either bring your appetite or ask for a takeaway box. The Prime Rib is some of the best I've ever had in Omaha, very tender and cuts like butter. The whiskey marinade is just the added touch on top to give a little tangy flavor. Whatever you get at The Drover, it will be high quality and cooked to perfection. I am only dinging it one star for the dated decor and dimness - but I absolutely recommend you check it out for the amazing food, at least once.

Visited the restaraunt on Friday, May 2nd, 2025. We had a drink at the bar as we waited for our reservation time to come up. The restaraunt has the feel of an old-school steakhouse. Lots of leather, dark wood, etc... Very cool. The bartender whipped the drinks out quickly despite the heavy crowd of Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting attendees. We were seated right at our reservation time and got a table in one of the side rooms. The waitress brought us fresh drinks and warm bread and butter. We ordered an appetizer (Bacon wrapped shrimp with mushrooms) and it came out quickly. It was spectacular! We ordered our entrees have way thru the appetizer. I ordered the 180z. Trail Boss Prime Rib in Whiskey Sauce, medium rare, and the wife had the Mushroom Burger w/fries. The steak came with a trip to the salad bar. It was great with lots of different options to add to my very cold plate. I could not eat all of my steak, despite not eating lunch that day. It was the best Prime Rib that I have ever had! The wife's burger was great as well. We will DEFINITELY return the next time we are in Omaha.

Classic old-world steakhouse. There are not many left in Omaha. The food here was better than at Gorat's. I ate at the bar, and had the salad bar and one of their whiskey steaks. It was tasty. I ended up sitting next to the mayor of a local town and we talked about Warren Buffett. You never know who you are going to meet at The Drover. The bartender was friendly and the decor was comfortable/homey. I'll definitely be back.

Who knew a three-year-old gift card could spark such a culinary adventure? Buried deep in our pockets (or memory), this little gem finally saw the light of day on Friday night as we headed to Omaha's iconic steakhouse, The Drover. Spoiler: It was a mixed bag of salad bars, whiskey filets, and a side of "meh." We arrived a few minutes before our 5:30 reservation, hoping for a smooth start. Parking? No problem. Getting seated? A whole different story. We stood awkwardly at the bar entrance, exchanging glances with other hungry parties as the host mysteriously disappeared. My 75-year-old dad nearly launched a one-man search party before the host reappeared and ushered us into a cozy little alcove. Cozy turned out to mean "crammed with wine-fueled conversations so loud we could barely hear each other," but hey, it's all part of the charm, right? Our server appeared to share the specials and promptly disappeared, leaving the cocktail server to take drink orders. Diet Coke for me (yes, it's a Coke establishment, for those tracking soda politics), but after that, hydration became a DIY affair. Water refills? Yes. Soda refills? A hard no. My glass sat empty most of the meal while the martini-table folks seemed to have unlimited service. The famed salad bar called, so we went to check it out. Chilled metal plates? Check. Crisp iceberg lettuce? Check. But then... oh no. Mushy, frozen cucumbers. Why, Drover, why? Other toppings hit the mark, and the poppyseed dressing was liquid gold, so all wasn't lost. A warm loaf of bread arrived, and we inhaled it. Sadly, that was our only loaf. Meanwhile, the martini table got refills like Oprah handing out cars. You get bread! You get bread! Us? Not so much. When the entrees arrived, things looked promising. My whiskey filet (butterflied, with sautéed mushrooms) was flawless--so tender it practically cut itself. The mushrooms had a surprising little kick that kept things interesting, though there were too many for me to finish. My husband's T-bone and onion rings hit all the right notes, but my dad's prime rib? Let's just say it wasn't winning any awards. Served medium rare, it was cold, and without the au jus, it would've been downright unappetizing. He wasn't thrilled with the meat but raved about his baked potato, calling it the best he's had in years. Small victories, I guess! Oh, and remember those little spiced apple garnishes they used to include? Gone. I missed them, just for nostalgia, but because my late grandpa would've eaten every single one, parsley and all. The quickest part of our night was the bill. Our total before the $100 gift card came to about $200, leaving $99 to pay out of pocket. Not terrible for three steak dinners at a classic spot. But was it worth it? Usually, I leave The Drover impressed, but this time, it felt like an off-night. Maybe it was the cold prime rib, the sad cucumbers, or the hit-or-miss service. Regardless, The Drover remains an Omaha institution, and I know it'll continue to draw its loyal crowd. As for me? I'll be back--eventually. I'm just not racing to beat you there.

Literally my favorite steak house ever. The whiskey marinade is amazing ans the quality of beef cant be beat! This is my go to place! Great service fresh salad bar!!

This place still does it right. I have been enjoying this place since the early 2000s when I worked across the street. It was a favorite place to go to celebrate a birthday. Steaks are large tender and delicious. I recommend the whiskey marinade, one of their signatures.

Seated promptly on a busy Friday for lunch. Service for beverage and ordering was quick and delivery quick. Iced tea was fresh and wonderful. Both ordered Lunch special Whisky Sirloin. I got the red pepper gouda cheese soup which was fantastic. Friend got the salad bar. I realize the salad bar was more expensive ala carte but opted for the cup of soup, would have loved more! The salad bar was fresh but not a super special variety of offerings, when offering either or they should both be similar price or both unlimited, In my opinion. Baked potato was steaming hot when the meal finally arrived-1 hour into being seated. Steak was done medium but not super-hot when arrived. Mine was delicious and friends was very gristly. She left more than half of it. Albeit I give them props for friendliness.

Steak done the way steak should be done!!!! $29 for a 10oz whiskey seasoned filet with a side of mushrooms and a cup of soup. Service was great. Ambiance was great. Bathrooms were clean. Definitely recommend coming here for lunch if you want to save your wallet.

Great old fashioned steakhouse experience in Omaha. Lives up to its reputation. Steaks were delicious and service was spot on.

Yes. Do this place again. And again. It was a last minute lunch, the place was quiet, and I'm sure the staff wanted their quiet time for side work. But they welcomed me with open arms and were really friendly, especially the bar tender girl. THanks so much for great hospitality, it was such a pleasure. Also the steaks were just terrific. I ordered the 8oz filet rare, the whiskey filet which is a house thing. I'm not usually much for marinades but this was good stuff. Also the fries and soup were tasty. My new favorite spot in Omaha. Count me in.

Best prime rib I have had anywhere--that simple-- and it was my children who ordered it, so I was stealing bites all meal. Excellent bone-in ribeye wnd bone-in filet as well, but I must just be partial to their prime rib. Asparagus was tasty too! Solid steakhouse stark salad bar. Would not hesitate to return-- great ambiance as well. Would love a draft beer instead of the cans but that's my only criticism. Can't speak to the other steak spots in the area but if there is a better steak to be had, I'm down to find it, and then report back.

I brought my out of town family here for dinner and it was a great choice. The food was good, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was perfect for a conversation (not too loud, not too quiet). Half of my party ordered the whiskey marinated steaks, the other half opted out. I tried both and couldn't tell much of a difference. The salad bar was a nice touch, especially being that all of the choices were very fresh. I'm glad I was finally able to check this one off my list of steakhouses to try in the Omaha area.

Tables fill up fast so I recommend getting a reservation if you're in a party of 2 or more. If you're flying solo like me, you'll only be able to walk in. BUT the seats in the bar flip pretty quickly! I had the 14oz Rib Eye in The Drover Whiskey Marinade with a side of onion rings. Both were great and highly recommended.

We popped in on a Wednesday evening for dinner without a reservation as a party of 3. Everyone I work with recommended this spot as THE steakhouse to take visiting relatives to, and I'm so glad we listened! They were able to squeeze us in without a wait - the hostess said it was one of their slower nights. It looks tiny from the parking lot, but it's actually surprisingly big on the inside. Tables aren't too close together, and the lighting is typical of a nicer steakhouse - dim with low warm light. Decor is definitely Western, but elevated. Definitely would be a great place to bring clients for dinner or celebrate a milestone. I didn't see any children while we were here, and I'm not sure it's a great place to bring kiddos. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with menu recommendations as it was our first visit, and the volume level was just right despite being next to a table of twelve. We ordered three steaks, all with whiskey marinade - two filets and one NY strip. I think the pricing is decent, but it is definitely worth it in quality - about $55 and up. Our meals came with brown bread at the table and a trip to the salad bar. I've never lived anywhere that loves salad bars the way Omaha does, but this one was actually really good. Everything was fresh, ice-cold, and the lettuce was crisp. Our steaks didn't take too long, and they were cooked to perfection. The whiskey marinade gives it just the right amount of flavor without being too overpowering. I'm not a drinker or a fan of whiskey, but I really liked it. Beef was butter-tender and juicy. My side was a baked potato, and it was pretty good - nothing spectacular. We finished the night with some decaf coffee and a slice of their turtle cheesecake split between the three of us and left stuffed! It was a great meal that our relative still raves about and I'm looking forward to our next visit.

The Drover is quintessential Omaha. The interior resembles the inside of a house with small room rooms so it feels cozy. The decor is slightly dated, and it still has a salad bar reminiscent of 20 years ago, complete with chick peas and bacon bits. But the whiskey steak can't be beat and your taste buds will thank you for the choice. The bar is a comfort and you can eat there too. Not a lot of creativity in the menu, but they do what they do. I'd say if you're in Omaha for at least a week, check out the drover for a classic and slightly kitschy steakhouse experience in a steak town.

Love the atmosphere of this restaurant. Dark and moody but still very welcoming. Food is great! I ordered the top sirloin medium rare with broccoli cheddar soup and an espresso martini. Great place for a date night.

Super friendly and very good/great service. My son and I went in on a very busy Sunday night without a reservation. The hostess was very helpful with getting us a table after a long wait. The wait was expected since we didn't have a reservation. The food is amazing. We each had the whisky ribeye. It was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Service all around was fantastic. I do recommend making a reservation weeks in advance if possible. If we are ever in Omaha again we will definitely make it back.

Came here based on recommendations from locals and decided it was time to give the steak a try! Ordered the whiskey marinated prime rib and it was seasoned and cooked medium rare to perfection! Flavor was great with every bite! Loaded baked potato, steak, with a pairing of an old fashioned was the perfect meal! Lobster Mac and cheese was also a good add!

Tried some good ol' steak here while on a work trip and boy- it's true what they say: steak really is better in Omaha! Very 'cabin in the woods' vibe here, w a bar area and dining room tables. There's a salad bar if you're more into that sort of thing, but the real star is the whiskey ribeye. Do not omit! Repeat: do not skimp on the steak. Enjoy

Was lucky enough to be passing through on way back to Chicago and found this place! Was very crowded but absolutely worth it! Had the prime rib and cheesecake dessert was so unique and incredible!!!! Wish there was one near me!!! If in town again would def stop in! Bar tender also super friendly and amazing service even tho very busy!!! Thank you!

Stopping in for some of their famous whiskey steak! We have been trying to get to this restaurant for years, and during our first visit, it did not disappoint! Immediately located just north of I 80 off of 72nd St., The Drover offers generous parking for easy access. The exterior of the restaurant is unassuming and leads you into a cozy steak restaurant. The restaurant does not open until 5 PM but the full bar was open for cocktails a little earlier. Check their website for operating hours. We were there on a Wednesday evening with reservations, and it became readily apparent that it was a good thing we had them. The restaurant is busy, but with small dining areas you're never in a large crowd. The staff was exceptionally attentive, and we were quickly walked us through the menu including a few off menu specials. The price point on the menu is higher than you would expect, but it is for quality. All entrées come with salad bar or soup options. The salad bar is not extensive, but it does offer super fresh ingredients and individualized salad dressing containers that reflect how we access public salad bars in the aftermath of Covid. Our party included several who had been to this restaurant before and highly recommended the whiskey marinated steaks. We typically are not big fans of marinated steaks, but we have to admit it was absolutely fantastic! The steaks were cooked to perfection, and even one at the table who wanted an adjustment had no problem getting their steak cooked a little further. There were barely any leftovers! The Drover offers a very nice dessert menu which we took to go because we had had way too much at dinner! When we finally did get to our desserts, we have to admit that the New York style cheesecake ranked as some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend this restaurant, which is great for date night, special occasions, or just to treat yourself!

Love this place! The lobster Mac n cheese is phenomenal. We made a reservation and they attended us quickly. Staff was polite and the place was clean and dimmed, perfect for a date night.

The Drover is iconic in my opinion- and for good reason! It's unique and classy but yet has a little old world charm. It's a place to meet with friends for a night out or you could be with buisness men striking your next business deal. You can come as you are, fancy or casual-everyone is welcome. The drover is known for its steaks....specifically its whiskey marinade which each steak is marinated at the time you order. The marinade consists of specific mix of whiskey and soy sauce and then flame grilled. I've never not had the whiskey marinated steak at the Drover but you do have either option. The Drover has a small salad bar. It's a classic salad bar with many of the staples you're accustomed to. I especially appreciate the salad bar ingredients are kept ice cold- a small but important detail I appreciate! I typically get the ribeye here. If I'm being honest, I have had mostly great top tier steaks here. Occasionally I will get a steak that has more chew to it than I would prefer. Honestly the same thing has happened at other steakhouse in town, it's likely to be unavoidable as much as it pains me to admit. The service at the Drover is top notch. Consistently a notch above the competition!

Arrived on a weekday around noon for lunch and they were busy as if it was busy weekend. Based upon that I figured it should be very good and it was. The salad was simple but yet appropriate amount of selection. The lettuce crisp and green. Note there is no cottage cheese available on salad bar, you can add as a side dish with your entree. The prime rib you can tell was marinated. My prime rib was slightly grisly thus why it's 4 stars instead of 5 but everything even the side of broccoli was perfectly prepared.

This is a top of the heap steakhouse. Every steak was cooked perfect to order. Every steak was delicious. The whiskey marinate is the real deal. The salad bar was the freshest I've seen in a long time. The service was attentive and efficient. The decor is on point for a steakhouse.

My boyfriend and I came here for our 1 year anniversary. We had to try their famous Whiskey Rib Eye and let me tell you it's delicious! We had really great service and I had made a reservation weeks in advance (I really recommend making reservations here). It was a Saturday night at 6PM and it was SUPER busy! This place is very popular and for good reason. The only thing that was a bit of a bummer was that our two top table was seated by a very obnoxious and loud table of about 14 very intoxicated people. Thankfully, the waitresses worked on politely getting them to leave. My boyfriend and I as well as the table next to us had a hard time hearing ourselves it was that bad. Not the Drover's or staff's fault for that. I really think that this is one of the best places to get a steak in Omaha for sure. I will definitely be going back there! Definitely recommend the Whiskey Rib Eye!

Perhaps you have heard TV sports announcers or college baseball coaches talking about The Drover and want to go there when you are in Omaha. Don't. We disregarded the advice of our local hosts who think it is overpriced and living off their reputation. We should have listened. Their specialty is the Whiskey Filet. The steak was good but not worth $55+. And anything cooked north of medium rare is going to burn off the fifteen-minute marinade, making it just a regular filet. One undercooked steak went back to the kitchen and another should have. The salad bar was underwhelming, vegetables were cold, and the onion rings were soggy and crumbled. Reheated? On top of this, the service on a Tuesday night was slow. There are many good steakhouses in Omaha. The Drover might have been among them at one time, but there are much better choices now.

June 14th 2025 The Food was Amazing! But don't go there for service, our waiter Pedro was non existent only saw him after we were done with our meal.at that time he just brought the check and didn't even ask if we wanted desert .as for drinks we had to get our own refills. when the drink girl was just hanging out at the bar.

Whiskey Filet was amazing flavor tenderness everything salad bar potato same 5 star! Ambiance was great service spectacular I'll be returning more often my youngest daughter took me! I hadn't eaten there since the Owner and lifelong family friend passed Bob Anderson!!! I literally forgot just how great his Whiskey steaks were and ARE!! He'd be proud of his Daughter keeping up the great reputation it's had since Bob opened it RIP Andy!!

Came in late 15 min before closing, they were gratuitous and served me with a smile. Allie server was nice paid just enough attention. Food was good recommended

Affairs happen here. Business deals are sealed here. You walk in and it's dim lit, it's a modern cowboy theme. The art work is on metal sheets and the colors are vibrant. It made me feel like this is the place in town people escape to for that longer lunch break, meeting their secret someone, making deals over steaks or just enjoying a highly rated meal. And we did enjoy that highly rated food! When in Rome do as the Romans... steak and of course I tried their signature whiskey sauce. Baked potato loaded (minus chives) and the salad bar. The weak point for me was the salad bar. Interesting that you get your own personal tongs for making your salad. I kept wanting to drop it as I moved along but I survived! I am an East coast loving blue cheese girl. The blue cheese flavor was dismal. So much so I returned back to the salad bar for the Italian dressing. I failed there too... it was much more vinaigrette. My tastebuds were disappointed (this is why i couldn't give them 5 stars.) But then I was blown away with the savory flavor of each bite of steak I had. It melts in your mouth! The potato- perfect! Loaded in all the right ways. I can't stop thinking about this plate of food. I wish I could do it all over again but Omaha was a one day deal. Maybe someday Drover...

Pros: delicious filet cooked perfectly. Classic salad bar! Viiiibes. Cons: really unfortunate Manhattan. Bread was meh. Look at the end of the day, what are you here for, steak? Then you will leave happy. If you like me enjoy a delicious sip with your steak you may be less pleased. I am not one to send things back but I seriously contemplated sending back the manhattan. I loved the salad bar! Yay big ol iceberg leaves and chopped eggs. Nothing like a steakhouse salad bar! The bar was a chill spot to soak up the steak vibes. Although it was also just hilarious to listen to the drunk guy on a business trip talking to the other drunk guy on a business trip who had only eaten at The Drover his entire trip. That guy would give 5 stars.

Great food, service and atmosphere. Classy, old school steak house vibe. I recently tried the whiskey prime rib. It was different, but pretty good. It doesn't come with au jus, but our waitress happily provided some upon request. We also tried the shrimp cocktail and it was really good. Big shrimp and very fresh. I recommend reservations because this place gets very busy, especially on the weekends
