Traditional Irish pub with live music, Irish & American grub

"This longtime Irish institution near Union Station (a big hit on Saint Patrick’s Day) opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on weekends." - Missy Frederick

"This family-run Irish pub near Union Station has been in business since 1974 and still serves perfect pours of Guinness. The iconic bar also boasts a proprietary Irish whiskey that goes down smooth, along with about 100 other Irish whiskeys to sample. Nightly live Irish music is back on the schedule, and traditional dishes like corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, and shepherd’s pie fill out the menu." - Tierney Plumb, Travis Mitchell

"Opened in 1974, the Dubliner is the patriarch of D.C.’s Irish bar community and celebrates a major 50-year milestone this year. Daily Irish whiskey tastings and live music starting Monday, March 11 commemorates the occasion, and its epic Saint Patrick’s Day party prices morning Guinness pours by its age (they’re 50 cents this year from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.). There’s also live music on two stages all day, with an Irish menu starting at 11 a.m. The reliable hangout also sports a recently enclosed sidewalk cafe." - Tierney Plumb

"Nearby, I observed that the Dubliner has long been considered the patriarch of D.C.'s Irish bar community since 1974." - Tierney Plumb

"After operating for decades in Washington, D.C., I learned that the Dubliner is suing a newly opened Boston pub of the same name for alleged trademark infringement: it is demanding that the Boston bar change its name and hand over all profits made since it opened last fall. The D.C. pub says the similar names are causing customer confusion nationwide and points out that it sells Dubliner-branded Irish whiskey across the U.S., including in Boston; it sent a cease-and-desist to co-owner Oran McGonagle last October and has now filed an official lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Boston seeking disgorgement of profits, legal fees, and other damages." - Erika Adams
