"Parts of this attractive roadside inn reputedly date back to the 16th Century, providing a lovely setting for cooking based around local ingredients. Several of them come from the owners’ own smallholding and others from nearby producers who are named on the menu – sometimes alongside their distance from the restaurant. These ingredients are fashioned into dishes that burst with flavour and don’t overcomplicate matters, like bright, fresh-tasting roasted cod with mussel sauce." - Michelin Inspector

Had the chicken liver pate on toast as a starter. Honestly my taste buds thought they'd died and gone to heaven. It was beautiful. Chose the pork belly for main course. Amazing

A really nice find. Popped in here on our way home to Reading from Birmingham. Nice quiet place with lovely service and beautiful food. The pre-starter of lettuce soup was a very nice touch. I never thought I'd ever have a soup made of lettuce but was lovely. All foods at the table was really enjoyed especially those who had the Beer and Cheese soup. Top notch

I was looking for a place to meet friends in Oxfordshire for lunch on a Sunday, which was an easy location to find as we each needed to travel separately. Timing was important so, in a phone call, I explained our needs. The arrangements could not have worked better after discussions with the host who took our booking and made everything work well for us on the day.p The menu and drink choices were good and the food itself excellent, along with the cheerful service we received. The location and ambience is also very pleasant indeed and while I'm not sure I'll be in the area again any time soon, if I happen to be I would definitely return.

Excellent food in a beautiful setting. We went for a Sunday roast and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I’m already trying to find an excuse to go back. Congrats to the whole team for such an excellent job.

Great place, delicious food and drinks! A little on the pricier side - but I guess extra for the ambience (very pretty food presentation ad well). We sat indoors, but the outdoor seating looked very lovely as well. Had the Sunday roast beef lunch - very delicious, but felt something was missing to really take it to the next level (for us anyway). The individual components of ox cheek Yorkshire pud, roast beef, carrots, kale and brocolli, roast potatoes were all delicious on their own but the combination somehow lacks that desired oomph for a Sunday roast. Not sure what though…4/5 The Beer cheese soup starter was amazing though! This one is >5/5 stars - definitely give this one a try! Also had the trout and gherkin starter - this was also so-so…very nice plating but again the combination was just ever so slightly off - 3.5/5 Had the mocktail - if this is anything to go buy, definitely also recommend their cocktails! Delish and not thimble-sized like what others I’ve had! - 5/5

Incredible food in idyllic setting. The new menu from the new owners is fantastic. This is not standard ‘pub grub’ … this is fine dining offering exceptional value for money. I cannot wait to see how the place develops as they grow more and more produce on site. Highly highly recommend!
