Ordered off of DoorDash the food came hot and size everything was packaged properly. I just wish I would’ve got some napkins, but the food was really tasty. I much preferred the cumin beef noodles over the actual dumplings themselves. They seem to lack a little bit of flavor, but the noodles were amazing.

First time trying this place and would highly recommend. I did a pick up order and within 15 minutes my order was ready. This location doesn’t have much parking around but the food makes up for that. I ordered the fried pork buns, the chili chicken noodle lunch combo with sweet pork belly dumplings and a cane cola. The fried pork buns were light, flavorful and soft with each bite. The sweet pork belly dumplings were by far my favorite, it was sweet tangy and the pork was so juicy. If you like spicy you will love the chili chicken noodles. It was packed with delicious spice and the heat was a medium at best. Highly recommend this place for fresh, handmade dumplings and mouthwatering noodle bowls.

Have gone twice and both times the staff was super friendly, the atmosphere in the restaurant was great and the food delicious!! The second time I wasn’t able to get a picture of the before because I was so busy enjoying my meal. My go to is the sweet pork belly dumplings with a ginger ale, something simple yet so delicious!

Google
Food is exceptional! The green beans are so good. The dumplings are very good too. If you can't handle super spicy, get the chili oil on the side so you can customize it to your preference. The chili oil is so so good though and adds to the dumplings. Don't miss out on it! The chili chicken and scallion pancakes are delicious too. We had no misses on the food we ordered. Loved it!

The owners of The Dumpling Lady are actually Asian so I was excited to try some authentic food! The server /manager inside was so nice and helpful with all of my questions. It's great to actually get some authentic street food in Charlotte! Loved the scallion pancakes and the leek pork belly. Really enjoyed my meal! Be aware of the spice levels! Excited to be back to try more items on the menu!

I love coming to this place and trying new things on the menu. Today I had the chicken shiitake noodles and I believe my favorite part was the shiitake mushrooms. They absorb so much flavor from the broth for a minute I wasn’t even eating noodles I was just picking around Eating the mushrooms. What made me come in today was those garlic green beans!! I don’t care if you don’t eat vegetables, you will love these! Also got the scallion pancakes personally couldn’t figure out which one tasted better dipping them in the chili sauce or letting them absorb some of my broth from my noodles. Either way they were both amazing and you can’t come to The Dumpling Lady without of course getting some dumplings so I got the shrimp and chicken. Just in case, if you was wondering, I ate every last bit and can’t wait to come back for more!!!! For my heat lovers, get the spicy beef noodles for my vegetarians who loves spice ask about the burning noodles !! These are my favorite dishes. I couldn’t call myself a foodie though if I don’t explore her menu. Overall this is a must try!!

Google
As for my hometown food, I always have high expectations. I have to say I was let down a little bit… I ordered their most popular items, Cumin beef noodle with shrimp and chicken dumplings. The dumpling sauce was very authentic and tasty( spicy, salty and flavorful). But the dumplings were cooked so long that the skin was soggy and broken. The noodle was kind of bland compared to what I had growing up. Overall it’s still a good place if you want some Chinese dumplings and noodles. This place is close to my office so I will come back and try again. I hope it will be better next time.

Google
Tiny shop with only a few tables. Gentleman who took our order at the counter was friendly and helpful running through what was popular. Food came out quick, maybe a 5 minute wait. We shared a dozen pork and chive dumplings and I had the pork belly rice bowl. This may have been the best rice bowl over ever had, it was absolutely amazing. My wife had the cumin beef noodles which was also tasty, but as the name implies very cumin forward. I prefer cumin as a supplemental seasoning, not the primary flavor driver, so I didn’t like her dish as much as my own. The dumplings were quite tasty as well, and being as it’s what they are known for that makes perfect sense. Overall a must visit if you’re going to be in charlottes south end for any amount of time.

Yelp
Yes. Just yes. If you're debating getting food from here, just do it. Everything, and I mean everything, is delicious, flavorful and light. The ingredients shine, the spices kick and you want to come back bite after bite. The chili crisp is not for the weak, but man is it so delicious!

Yelp
I ordered to go while at Hi-Wire across the street. I ordered Shrimp & Chicken dumplings, Pork & Chives dumplings and smashed cucumbers. Everything I ate was so tasty. However, I did not taste any shrimp in the dumplings so I suspect they packed me chicken dumplings. I ordered online and my food was ready on time. If you've never been to The Dumpling Lady it might be hard to miss.

Yelp
This location offers a lot of the same items the main location offers. What I like is that they don't put the chili oil on top of the dumplings but offer it on the side. Everything was tasty. My favorite items were the Cumin Beef Noodles and the Fried Rice. The Cumin Beef Noodle had some spicy flavor but it wasn't too spicy. The noodles are thick and absorb all the flavor from the cumin sauce. The fried rice is light and airy. It was mild and was a delight to cool the palette. This location is small. There aren't many tables and it's not good for large groups. We only had 4 in our party and it was hard to eat family style with the available seats. Some guest left and we were able to move and make it easier to share the dishes. Customer service was phenomenal and the small group of employees were mighty. Yelp
Amazing authentic korean style food. The staff is personable and the tiny shop front make this place an unassuming hole in the wall that only locals truly visit. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Had delivery to my hotel tonight from the dumpling lady. I have to say it I was very tasty. Although a bit on the oily side. I had the thin sliced pork belly with leeks. Loads of flavor. I bet this dish hot and fresh straight from kitchen would have been amazing. Also had scallion pancake. Really greasy but had great chew. Definitely a solid 4 stars.

Yelp
If you're on a long haul drive, let's say from New York down to Alabama and happen to stop in Charlotte and perhaps you stayed at the hotel near the airport, you should definitely order from here. I would say this is homestyle as dumplings get. I got the pan fried style with the Sichuan oil, the fried rice and then the obligatory tea. I did also pick up a mason jar of chili oil because I just needed some spice for the month and a half I was going to be spending in school. This will remind me of some of the dumplings I've had in Chinatown in New York City, even with the delivery, the edges were crispy as you can see in the pictures and the fried rice had chopped green beans in it. That was still fresh and had a good crunch. Portions are just right, I didn't feel uncomfortable after throwing down the dumplings & the rice. It wasn't oily or super greasy.

Yelp
Now that I've been here a few times I'd like to update my review. Still awesome! Key word: Consistent. Every visit the staff are friendly, helpful and patient. The food is crazy good (cumin beef this time). 5 or so visits now and I'm all in on this place! PS The grocery items are definitely a must see.

Yelp
I love this place. The dumplings and noodles are so good. I really like the chili crisp oil. I also like the self automated ordering screen. It is nice to have a self service option. I like the seating available outside. The space inside also has seating. The food came out quick.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend visiting here an hour prior to close. You will be offered a limited menu. I can only assume that they are going all in with COVID service. Even though everyone around them is offering full menus until closing, Dumpling Lady is paying homage to the past by saying no to more money. I'm not sure what the long-term goal here is other than closing an hour earlier in the future. Perhaps the end game is the close the restaurant permanently. They sure have the correct model to make that an inevitability. Good luck...

Yelp
This place absolutely blew me out of the water and I'm shocked there aren't more reviews. We stumbled on this place while getting ready for trivia at Hi-Line. Service was a bit slow and the food is on the expensive side, but it was SERIOUSLY delicious. Like totally unexpected, I need to order something else to go before I leave kind of delicious. We go the pork rice bowl. Lots of pork and mushrooms in a very savory sauce. Then we got the pork and chive dumplings. They make their noodles fresh every day and you could absolutely tell. The bite was nice and the flavor of the filling was great. I also loved the addition of the lace around the dumplings. The place is fairly small, but there's some seating inside and out. They also have Japanese snacks and a cool mural, which is very fun!

Yelp
Such good food! I would love to meet the actual Dumpling Lady to give her my thanks. The scallion pancakes are my favorite here along with their in-house chili oil.

Yelp
Day 1 of opening and I was customer #3! If you've been to TDL before, expect the same. Yummy food, nice people! For day 1, they had it mostly down. There was a wait for food but that is expected as they work out their kinks. Have a few new dishes on the menu that I tried. SOOOO excited they are here in southend. What a great addition and so happy they FINALLY opened!!! Cant wait to come here every week for lunch. Overall: 4.7/5 - met my expectations for TDL. Great job team! Cant wait to eat here in the future. Delicious food. Food: 4.8/5 - got the lunch combo. Pork belly and leeks noodles and pork belly and chives noodles. The noodles were a new dish, so good!! A more modern chinese place with bomb food. Flavor profile hits the spot. Expect spicy though! Service: 4.5/5 - they just opened and I was probably their 3rd customer. Nothing to complain about! Nice people. Would be great if in the future once they settle in, to give recommendations to customers on their new dishes and newish menu. Vibes: 4.5/5 - great spot for a quick, casual lunch. Clean on the inside! Other: street parking parallel or parking inside the apartment garage when you first enter

Yelp
First time here, we did not know what to get; it's so many options! My friend and I were so excited, but it took us a minute to decide. The man at the counter was so helpful and so patient he made us feel very comfortable. He broke down the menu for us with customer favorites and gave us plenty of options! I decided on the lunch combo: the chili chicken noodles (super spicy) I love spicy food but this was extremely spicy lol and the shrimp and chicken dumplings, I also ordered the green beans (delicious)! My friend ordered the Braised Pork Belly Rice Bowl and also the Sweet Short Ribs with rice and we wash it down with lemonades (yummy). We had so much food we shared, of course, I liked everything she ordered opposed to my food lol. The braised pork belly sauce paired perfectly with the rice and green beans. The green beans were definitely delicious. The rice was so fluffy. The restaurant has limited seating inside, but it's also has limited seating outside as well. Nice and clean can't wait to go back!

Yelp
For takeout: From order to leaving with only a few orders in line was no more than 10 minutes. Perfectly fine by me. The dumplings are of good size, and the filling is flavorful and isn't just meat mush. Even after a 20 minute ride, they stayed crisp and warm. There's enough in one order that someone with a good appetite will be satisfied but not stuffed. If you're like me and don't deal well with spice, get the spicy sauce on the side and just use a smidge. It's good, but it's pretty hot.

Yelp
I noticed that my food was bland from this location. I ordered the Nei Jiang Beef and my noodles were overcooked and the broth was bland. I asked for shrimp & chicken potstickers however, I noticed I was given just chicken. I enjoyed them so I didn't complain. I would like the food to be consistent to the original Noda Optimist Hall location. The prices are also more at this location.

Yelp
Great food and good value. Very nice staff and quick pick up time. We always get the Dan Dan noodles, shiitake chicken noodles, and buns, but we look forward to trying more items soon!

Yelp
I'm unbelievably obsessed with the dumpling lady. I have been to both locations, south end and optimist. They are both great but I prefer the south end location. The dumplings are amazing - I feel like they are bigger at the south end location. They also add something to the bottom of the pan for the dumplings and it creates this lacy crunchy bottom that soaks up the amazing chili oil. You can't leave without trying the scallion pancake - it's one of my favorite things I've ever eaten. This location is pretty small, only a few tables to eat in. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I've been a fan since the food truck days so checking out the new location was a no brainer. I love their vegetarian options and wanted to try the crispy tofu and green bean noodle bowl which was delish as well as the veggie dumplings. It's a busy area so parking is a headache.

Yelp
Casual and convenient dumpling place. Had low expectations, but surprisingly good. Good for sharing.

Yelp
So so good!! Everytime I come here it is super fast and delicious. You can tell it is very fresh and home made. They even threw in a free order of pork buns which was so nice!

Yelp
I really enjoyed trying the dumpling lady! It's a great location with a few parking guest spots in the deck near by. They also have free street parking. It's also in walking distance to many bars. I loved the pork dumplings. The sauce was spicy which I love - might be too much for some people so you may want it on the side! I also tried the noodles which were a little too al dente for my liking...I may give it another go another time since they are a new location. The pork was great though. The service was really quick and the employees were helpful. Overall a great experience and I can't wait to go again!
google avatar

Anabel C.

Yelp
As someone who loves noodles and has tried a LOT of noodle spots, this restaurant exceded expectations. The noodles were the perfect consistency and the portions were substantial. Beware that the noodles are on the spicier side. Lastly, the green beans were SO addicting, highly recommend. The staff were so friendly and helpful and checked in on me several times. This is definitely a casual place with indoor and outdoor seating perfect for a lunch bite.

Yelp
Truthfully would give this 2.5/5 stars but I rounded up here. Maybe I had too high of hopes coming into this quaint little dumpling spot right near Hi-Wire Brewing, or maybe just an off day, but unfortunately I didn't have such a great experience. I had the Pork and Chives dumplings and the Fried Pork Buns. Starting off with the dumplings, the only taste I felt they had was that of the oil of pan-searing. The pork inside was very bland. All orders came with Chili oil and I thought that would rescue the dumpling but unfortunately to me it was just dipping a flavorless dumpling into oil, that by the end of it just had you feeling like you ate mostly a container of oil. As for the Fried Pork Buns, those were better and I felt they had slightly more flavor but once again would say they were only enjoyable with soy sauce drenching them. Again the meat in those was very under seasoned but better than the dumplings. As for the ambience it was a quiet quaint shop that could feel like a great spot to get a nice and cheaper bite. It was also maintained clean which is always a plus. Finally the service was good, and what I would expect for any small food spot. Again maybe I just had it on an off day, this place just wasn't for me

Yelp
The kids and I popped in on a Saturday afternoon. They were empt, I did get what the cashier suggested which was a bowl of pork buns and chicken dumpling. And let me tell you I wasn't my money. everything was sooooo bland and flavorles. The buns and pork was dry it was just awful. And that says a lot from me. I would give super G a 10star compared to them. And I had 4 friends that did the taste test with me. Some couldn't swallow the food smh. never again from us

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
The Dumpling Lady has amazing dumplings and outstanding noodle dishes! I also really enjoy the chicken with dried chilis, the green beans, and the eggplant. You really can't go wrong!

Margaret A.

Yelp
I ordered from here via DoorDash! I was surprised when I got the food it was still hot! I got the pork belly dumplings and scallion pancakes!! the dumpling melted in my mouth, i order from here weekly and the quality is always the same!!

Shauna B.

Yelp
Maybe I ordered the wrong thing or had the wrong expectation. The line is always long so I assumed the food was good. My bowl has no taste AT all. Just hot spice and oils thats all I taste. I'm so disappointed bc I had high hopes for this place . This is exactly why I don't venture out and try new foods. Food is too high to not be good. Sigh

Yelp
Great dumplings and soup buns. The unsung star is the Garlic Green Beans! Amazing! I could probably eat a double order easily.

Cori R.

Yelp
Thank you, George for your amazing service resolving our issue. I think that was your name. We came at the end of the night. We had an issue and he resolved it and didn't make us feel uncomfortable. We appreciate you. This review was for service and not for the food,we were not a fan of the food because there was a very strong flavor that we just couldn't pin point in their food, not garlic or ginger but something very strong and not good at all.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! The food is always amazing and everyone is nice. Comes out pretty quickly too! We are super excited they opened in this location

Yelp
The location is quaint and paying isn't the best, but don't let that stop you from going. The scallion pancake was amazing. Full of flavor and crispy, it was very well balanced. I also enjoyed the chicken and shrimp dumplings, I had the sauce on the side but next time for sure I would have it on them instead. I think I missed out by having it on the side. I also had the bushes with the pork belly. My noodles were stuck together kind of dry but the flavor was really good and it overall tasted wonderful. The service was great and the young lady at the front was very patient with us especially with it being our first time we didn't know what to order.

Abigail V.

Yelp
the best dumplings i've ever had. so good & the sauce they give you with it is even better. all of the staff is so nice too!!

Betsy N.

Yelp
I come here all the time and it never disappoints. The food is amazing and the ambiance is great. They're also very kind.

Yelp
I ordered pan fried dumplings and literally took forever. There are people that came in 15 mins after me and received the same food I ordered. Then when I asked about my food they said they didn't know what happened. I always eat at the dumpling lady and I will say don't go to this location. I would recommend optimist hall if you want to try. I waited a long time for this location to open and I must say I'm highly disappointed. The line cook in the back has a shitty attitude as well.

Nancy D.

Yelp
Super tasty! We got three different types of dumplings and they were all fire. The Szechuan greens beans were AMAZING!!! highly recommend and it's a cute spot.

Brianna L.

Yelp
the slowest service I've ever experienced, they told me it would take over 10 mins to take my order. The lady at the front was extremely rude and they are extremely slow. Would recommend another location.

Courtney W.

Yelp
Delicious dumplings! Just wish they had the pork belly ones at this location. Placed an online order and they were ready right on time. Will definitely order again, especially if they start to have the pork belly dumplings!

Yiorgos P.

Yelp
I've been a fan for several years, so when I entered the SouthEnd location, I was immediately excited to see their menu. So many new options!! I tried the Cumin Beef and the Fried Pork and Chives Dumplings! both were excellent. I plan on returning many more times until I've tried it all.
