NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"There’s a lot to be excited about around 33rd Street and 8th Ave. The Knicks, obviously, and The Dynamo Room, a new steakhouse from the team behind Sunday in Brooklyn, and the restaurants in the Hotel Chelsea. Expect lots of steaks, lobster, and an extensive raw bar in a space inspired by the downtown restaurants and oyster cellars popular around the turn of the 20th century." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

The 22 Best Restaurants Near Penn Station - New York - The Infatuation

"Yes, you can fully see the Life Time Fitness pickleball courts from The Dynamo Room’s front patio. But we’re still happy to have a few rounds of cocktails and oysters at this steakhouse from the team behind Café Chelsea. A meal at this glitzy, yacht rock-soundtracked spot starts with a roving beef cart that showcases the aged steaks you can order. No matter what you choose, start with at least a few things from the raw bar, and some parker house rolls. It’s pricey, but perfect if you’re heading to MSG for a birthday-related game or party—or just for a few drinks after work." - bryan kim, will hartman, willa moore, neha talreja, molly fitzpatrick

Steaks and oysters with pickleball views at The Dynamo Room - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"If not for a view of the Life Time pickleball courts and the weirdly conical Penn Station subway entrance, you could mistake The Dynamo Room’s open-air patio for a Miami Beach bar, with its palm fronds and cane armchairs. It’s a breezy spot for a pineapple-garnished cocktail after work, while the sprawling, glitzy dining room behind it is New Yorky enough to take someone who just got off their train and needs to eat a whole lot of oysters while choosing a steak off a trolley that’s wheeled around the room. From the group behind the restaurants in the Hotel Chelsea, the Dynamo Room is already a convenient meeting point—and it’ll be a great pre-game option once MSG is in full season. photo credit: Will Hartman photo credit: Will Hartman photo credit: Will Hartman Pause Unmute" - Will Hartman

"From Sunday Hospitality—known for Rule of Thirds in Greenpoint and overseeing the new hospitality projects at the reborn Hotel Chelsea—comes a new steakhouse-style restaurant at 2 Penn Plaza. It leans into old-school New York steakhouse traditions, and in Sunday's hands it could be the de facto dining-out option before going to Madison Square Garden." - Emma Orlow

Stopped by The Dynamo Room before heading to MSG, and it was such a great find. The interior is stunning—modern, stylish, and spacious. The bar area and outdoor lounge give off serious vacation vibes, while the dining room feels open and relaxed, with plenty of space between tables. I’ve heard their happy hour is offered daily, and I’m definitely coming back to check that out! The food was delicious. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and meaty—only three shrimp, but high quality. I had the salmon, which was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and light. My friend ordered the French dip sandwich, which looked amazing and came as generous portion with fries. We also had dirty martinis, and they were made to perfection. Service started off strong—our order was taken quickly and a few different staff members checked in early on. However, once the food and drinks arrived, the follow-up disappeared. We had to wait to order another round after our meal since no one came back to the table. That said, the overall experience was still fantastic. Great location if you’re heading to MSG or passing through Penn, and the ambiance alone is reason to return. Looking forward to going back soon!

Google
The Dynamo room is the perfect spot for a meal before an event at the Garden. We had The Parker house rolls an Tuna tartare to start a great way to begin the meal. The drenched Dynamo burger followed cooked perfectly and is a very good addition to the NYC burger scene. The fries and rings were solid as well. The restaurant is beautiful and Being right next to the Garden and Penn Station downstairs it couldn't be more convenient

Dining out in the Penn District is once again classy. Dynamo Room exceeded our expectations with both top-notch service and absolutely delicious food. The bone marrow was bountiful and the burger was easy a top-ten quality here in the city. Seating out on the terrace is a must. And did I mention the burger? 🤌🏼

Everything about our dinner was incredible. We started at the bar with some appetizers and a few cocktails and then sat down in the dining room when it opened at 5. All of the food was delicious, but what really stood out was the service - from the bartender, to server, and the manager - everyone treated us so warmly. We truly enjoyed all of our dishes and we will definitely be back to try some of the cuts of steaks, which looked amazing. In addition to the food and service, it’s a beautiful restaurant in a unique location right next to penn station and MSG. This would be a great dinner before a Knicks game or catching a concert. Very smart idea!

This is your new modern steakhouse. Set back from the street right next to MSG / Penn, stepping into the dining room, bar or open air terrace transports you out of the hustle and bustle of the city. From the team that brought you Sunday in Brooklyn, Rule of Thirds and Chelsea Café, Chefs Derek and Jaime are really turning out tasty fun dishes while still covering all the bases for traditional steakhouse. The raw bar chilled lobster is beautifully plated with bite size sections separated by different sliced pickles, as is the Sicilian crudo trio of fish sliced thin like a composed terrine. Everything was quite delicious but the standouts at the start (for me) were the Saturn tiki cocktail with makrut lime, the Galaxy Surf Club kalamata gin martini meets bubbly libation, Parker House rolls with garlic butter, deviled lobster cocktail style, garlicky clam and leek toast, perfectly seasoned BBQ bone marrow, and caviar spaghetti with pancetta and mimolette cheese. There's a variety of steak cuts to choose from which are wheeled on a cart to your tableside at the start of your meal with subsequent education from your server. The Shawn's Deckle cut was our absolute favorite, the highly marbled tender ribeye cap full of beefy flavor. We also had the 50-day dry-aged ribeye for two and a happy accident of a filet mignon (a cut I never order) cooked to perfection sitting in a BBQ beurre blanc sauce, topped with crispy onion rings and finished with a creamy Oscar crab sauce - the combination was phenomenal. The sides and sauces were on point as well - we loved the hash browns and creamed spinach. We ordered the au jus, herbaceous Dynamo sauce and horseradish cream, but the aforementioned sauce extravaganza on the filet was likely my favorite. Desserts consisted of impressive carrot and chocolate cake layered high, and a refreshing seasonal housemade sorbet of strawberry and ginger.

Had early dinner at the bar, on their second day. It was a pleasant experience, mostly because of Brian and the bar team. Light crowd, mostly at the patio and bar area. I chose the “undrenched” burger with SOS. The burger was fine, except I’m not a fan of super chunky onion rings and pickles, so I removed them. The fries (made in beef fat) reminded me of my childhood and that was the food highlight for me. It’s a one level dining establishment outside Penn Station. I’m certain they will find their groove and their clientele. Next time I’ll have a steak.

Good! Went for dinner during restaurant week. Had to ask for the restaurant week menu as it wasn't initially provided, but no big deal. I ordered the caesar salad, chicken kiev, and carrot cake. The salad came on a metal tray and consisted of a handful of lettuce leaves with dressing and cheese. It was tasty, though a bit cumbersome to eat (I've never had to cut up a salad before!). There was quite a bit of dressing, but it was good, so I'm not complaining. The chicken kiev was tasty. Good portion size, juicy. The carrot cake dessert was actually underwhelming. Flavor was a bit lacking and portion size was on the petite side. Reminded me of carrot cake you might get pre-packaged/out of a box. Staff were all professional and courteous. There were different waiters for basically every task. The restaurant decor was very nice, though the place was rather loud between people speaking and music (some of which may have been coming from outside). There was intermittent thumping coming from some sound source while I was dining. It's a very busy area (adjacent to/above Penn Station), so there is going to be a fair amount of noise. That said, not great for a quiet dinner. Overall, good experience.

Google
I feel like this place wants to be a steakhouse from the 1960s and I’d say they’re fairly successful at creating that atmosphere. I’ll also say that the salmon, beef fat fries, and mac and cheese were amazing. My Manhattan was also well prepared. However, that’s where my praises have to end. First, it’s loud. You will have trouble chatting with your party if the restaurant is 1/2 full. Thats not necessarily bad but don’t come here for a quiet evening. The food is where the restaurant truly struggled. The Ceasar salad was fishy even without the whole anchovies added to it (they were still in the dressing). The steaks tasted like they were about to turn. Worst of all, the cake was clearly not properly mixed. The flavors of most of the dishes we had were off or felt less than fresh. I think Dynamo Room has a lot of potential to be a great spot but unfortunately the back of the house falls short of both your expectations especially for the price they charge. To that end, my friend had half a glass of wine left when she ordered another. Rather than bringing a new glass, instead the server refilled the glass to a normal pour level and still charged for a full glass of wine. This was an unfortunate mistake that could have been easily remedied. None of these things individually are a deal breaker but taken as a whole, I can’t in good conscience recommend this restaurant until they make substantial changes. If you need a semi nice place to go before a concert, walk a few blocks and you’ll find plenty more with greater value and better service.

Yelp
Staff at the Dynamo Room...please, take your bow. From the time that I stood at the front door until I left the building, I was showered with kindness, impeccable service. Shot out to Bryan, the mixologist who made my evening more pleasant. He's the man. I hope when you visit that you're lucky enough to to taste one of his drinks. The vibe was fire! The tables and the bar area was packed. And the food??! Forget about it. Accessible entrance.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the loudest best restaurants in recent memory for aperitifs appetizers dinner and dessert. This is the full package. Sadly this noise level is beyond and could barely hear anyone who was of either next to me or across a table of 9. The young rambunctious diners were loud and obnoxious Happily the oysters were fresh salinity and the steak tartare with quail egg as the best. It was seasoned well and the fried crab cake with tartar wa squally yummy and the crisp was absolutely deliciousness of thinly sliced fish with perfect seasoning The array of beef was awe inspiring but many of us had the delicious English cut prime rib which was perfect with sea Salt and made Amazingly delicious The desserts were the bomb and their chocolate caviar was truly a spectacle The service was attentive but as stated often missing until dishes arrived A true dining extravaganza

Yelp
Easily one of the best new restaurants to open recently and definitely the new top spot for a nicer meal before or after an event at MSG right next door. The newest and biggest venture from Sunday Hospitality, this is a huge, gorgeous steakhouse that also has a big patio that will be the place to be before a Knicks game, which sadly could've been this week, but alas we must wait until next year. Start with the Parker House Rolls of course, but there is also an excellent raw bar section plus all the steakhouse classics. The desserts are great too, especially the Cheesecake.

Yelp
My first time and the food did not disappoint. This is a nice spot for a quaint dinner near Madison Square garden. My steak was cooked to perfection. My ceasar was flavorable and my broccoli not as steamed as what I would prefer. The service was okay. I had to inquire about specials and noticed others were visually shown all the steak options while I was just asked if I was ready to order. I'd likely request a more attentive server next time, but an overall solid experience.

Yelp
Newest addition to the Penn Station area food scene doesn't disappoint. Great looking room with.vibe and service to match. Oysters on the half shell are a great start and the 50 day dry aged ribeye has fantastic flavor. Nice dessert lineup to finish up the meal but the carrot cake is the standout.

Yelp
A true gem right next to Madison Square Garden. Amazing happy hour, impeccable service, great options for restaurant week, I did the dynamo trio, amazing Caesar salad with anchovy! And Beef fat fries, and a dirty martini! Also ordered an amazing burger that's big enough to share! Grilled onions and special sauce, cooked to perfection!

Yelp
The service, food, ambiance and attention to detail here were all perfection. They were unfortunately sold out of the prime rib, but the steak we got was incredible. We also got the cheese soufflé (delicious) the fries (very good) and the carrot cake (wonderful)

Yelp
It takes a really amazing experience for me to write a review. This place exceeded my expectations. Great atmosphere, amazing drinks and food. The staff is attentive but not intrusive. The quality of the food is unparalleled. One of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Yelp
Great steak and jumbo shrimp cocktail! Also loved the cherries jubilee and nice service. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Really awful managers, think their name were Jeremy and Paul. The food wasn't good and it's over priced. I ordered the steak it was rubbery and I over paid.
