Yelp
Really hoping the Edison reopens in the near future as I have really enjoyed celebrating my birthday there (pre-Covid)! Our party of 7 had a great dinner, wine, and free entertainment on a busy Saturday night. If you are looking for a spacious yet intimate 1920s speakeasy/restaurant for a memorable night out, this is it!!

Yelp
This review is long overdue! I used to visit this place frequently and absolutely loved their wings, sassy drinks, and Old Fashioneds. The service was always friendly and attentive. I also appreciated the charming old-school rustic vibe, complete with silent films playing in the private room and the intriguing boiler area in the basement bar. The history of the place, including its ties to mini movies, adds so much character Recently, I discovered that it closed, but I'm thrilled to hear it will be reopening soon! I can't wait to see the changes they've made.

Yelp
This was the BEST club in Los Angeles until COVID arrived in 2020, then it disappeared! My favorite place of all time and I brag to everyone about it! From the long stairway down, to the antique decor, delicious drinks, yummy food, classy service, unique rooms and beautiful flapper girl dancers! All of my friends and I always had our birthdays there. We miss the Edison so much! Since it has been closed, a piece of Los Angeles history has been lost. We hope you open soon.

Yelp
If you left anything, but a five star review, I don't trust you. This place is super special on the jazz. They have is big band which almost doesn't exist on this planet anymore. Shame on you for not loving this place and giving them five stars! Also, they are very cool cocktails

Yelp
The Edison was and is my favorite venue in L.A. And it's all about the ambiance, the decadence, the authenticity of the surroundings. It makes you feel decadent. Or like a vampire lord or lady. Dress well, bring your good credit cards, and prepare to feel like a true part of the 20's in crowd that knows a secret. The food is good but not the main draw or takeaway. Parking is on the street and you have to go down an alley to get to the entrance, denoted by a bouncer, then down stairs to the subterranean masterpiece.

Yelp
This has got to be one of my favorite nightlife spots in Los Angeles! It's a 1920s dream! If you're looking for something unique, classy (hello vintage!), visually stimulating, with great drinks and free entertainment (this was one of my favorite spots in LA to perform!)- you have to visit The Edison. The ambiance is everything. It's like a turn of the century, electric, moody, speakeasy vibe. I can't even really find the words to describe it, you just have to go. The space is pretty big with lots of different rooms to mingle in and the staff are wonderful. Just an all around great time.

Yelp
Great food great atmosphere awesome food. Service was outstanding!! Manager came to table to make sure service and food was good. Will be back.

Yelp
This place is not a functioning bar, it is only available for booking events. Don't believe the hours Yelp is posting here, they are not open for drinks at these hours. Only giving one star to get attention to this problem, I'm sure it's a nice place for private events ‍

Susan C.

Yelp
Great local farm to table restaurant and if you call in advance, they'll do a vegan option.

Lenzy H.

Yelp
Incredible environment with elegant hostesses. Wonderful music and unique appetizers. Always special to go there.

Yelp
After dinner @ The Redbird, me and my homie walked a half block to get to the Edison to meet with some LA peeps we met. Edison is located in the basement of an old power plant factory and entrance is in an alley. We stood in line for about 5-7 mins and saw one of the door guys walking by checking shoe styles as gym shoes aren't allowed...also make sure you're dressed nice to hang here. Once inside, there are beautiful ladies there to take your pic if you like and then there is the stairway that leads to the fun. Once downstairs you see the main bar as well as some of the preserved machinery the building once used. There are some separate rooms as well as stages in which we saw dancers performing that night. We also got to experience some live music here. Very sexy scenery with good, friendly people and the old fashioned is very good! I would definitely return here as its good for groups, dates and even rolling solo. I would get here early as when we left around 11:30pm, the one was crazy and around the corner.

Yelp
If I had to describe this place, it would be if a classy 1920s evil millionaire villain opened an underground speakeasy for all the villains to come in the dark of night. They'd sit over drinks, cozy up on some elaborate chairs and take in the dark atmosphere as talked about their plans of world domination. One of the neatest bars you'll go to in LA! The set dressing and space they decorated is really A+! The service is standard, nothing really standing out, but they have a full bar and specialty cocktails! Went on a weekday night for a special Dr Martens event to watch a local LA band and it wasn't busy an hour before showtime. Would definitely take in the atmosphere and come by if I'm in the area and it's a quiet night. They also take reservations, so I'd say if you wanna impress, this is a place to reserve for drinks! I cant say for the food, since I haven't tried any. Overall a very a bar full of atmospherics and class without breaking the bank!

Gustavo T.

Yelp
Best place ever!!!! And the ghosts that haunt the building are a plus!! Can't miss this experience!! I highly recommend chanting "you robbed Tesla!!!"

Sean S.

Yelp
This place is really cool. It's like an old electric company warehouse and the drinks are bomb. The crowd can be a little weird...so a little FYI. BUT- it's definitely worth checking out for the experience if you haven't been before.

Yolanda S.

Yelp
The Edison is always on my list of must visit recommendations in DTLA. Housed in a former electric factory, enter through an alley without signage (look for a bouncer by the entrance will be your only giveaway), down a long set up of stairs, and back into time. If it is your first time you will be blown away by the size of the venue and every artifact that has been preserved in every corner. You can order small bites that can be shared while you enjoy a classic cocktail. They also have live music and performances on certain nights. Some tips are that you want to dress up a bit as this one of the few places that has a dress code. Also, they often get rented out for private events so you want to call ahead and make sure it's not a wasted trip. Other than that, enjoy treating yourself to another one of DTLA's gems, cheers!

Yelp
Great drinks, Good time & yummy food. I was happy everything ordered was tasty. I personally wouldn't have ordered all those things based on menu descriptions but there is something for everyone. This was my second go round here and I'm really upset I waited sooo long before coming back. Cab! Cab!! Cab-aret!!! Is a treat. Don't recall this entertainment the first time. Alexander the BT finally made a connection - the drink he made for me, he said, didn't have a name but by the third one it did. A drink must have a name, Je Ne Sais Quoi! and Voila! It had to start with a J for me. I'm feelin' myself

Yelp
This place is beautiful steam punk style gorgeousness. Walk down two flights of stairs and it's like you're in another world! First and foremost, if you have the means, reserve a table! I believe it's something like $50 minimum per person for drinks and food. Its not that difficult to fulfill the minimum when the drinks are $15 a piece. It's been a while since I've had the food but the drinks are spectacular! If you can reserve seats near the stage that's also a major plus because everyone crowds in to see the Eddies(don't miss their performances!!!). There are no seats available if you don't get a table unless you want to sit in the limited seating near the bathroom. I'd be here more often if there were seats around, otherwise you're standing all night. If you're just here to dance, you're probably ok. My drink recommendation is the Rosa de fuego. It's spicy and delicious. Looove it! I'll definitely be back!

Christopher L.

Yelp
Love this place excited to See it open back up !! The drinks and entertainment are great.

Jamiel Gomez H.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in LA for a date night or night out in the city with friends. Great ambiance, food, drinks, and I love that we get our table for the whole night and can get up and walk around and explore the restaurant which feels like an industrial art gallery. The burlesque dancers come on a little late so plan accordingly, you don't want to miss the shows! This place is always so fun. The music is a bit loud so not a place if you want to sit for quiet chats. It's more of an exciting upbeat place with good energy.

Mary Anna M.

Yelp
Entrance is a bit hidden along the alleyway. Cover on Saturday night is $10/person, and it's CASH only. There was a line but it moved fast. The girl at the front was nice; thank you for cutting us some slack. Table service (if you sit down and order food) is $50/person. The girl who took away our menu was pretty rude, even after we told her we wanted to order. She told us we had to order at the bar and bring it to the table ourselves. My bf waited at the bar but the guy brought our food to the table to my surprise. I was STARVING and ordered the Truffle Mac & Cheese, and the fried sandwiches with banana & Nutella. They were expensive but delicious. Bathrooms are a bit hard to find. You have to go through the dance floor. Music is good (they played Billie Jean, Lady Marmalade, etc.) The lady at the bathroom kept asking for a cash tip when I washed my hands. I didn't take lotion or anything. She is extremely pushy. Made me feel weird staying in case I had to use the bathroom again... Burlesque show was cute, but short. Drinks were ok - $15 each. Bartenders were not bad. There are also green fairies that walk around passing absinthe shots for $11. TL;DR: Expensive. Eat beforehand. Maybe even pre-game beforehand. Bring cash.

Yelp
Run away to another world to the underground where the 1920s come back to life with burlesque shows with up-to-date DJ music with amazing mixes from the late twenties to very current music drinks that are very creative fun and tasty and service that's really amazing first class try to ask for the booth behind the DJ it's a VIP table and worth every dollar that you'll spend we had such a great time and can't wait to go back thank you Edison for a great experience

Stephanie G.

Yelp
I have had the pleasure of celebrating multiple birthdays here. The service is phenomenal, and the live acts are engaging and well performed. Aside from the great performances, the cocktails are delicious! The host truly knows how to make their guest feel special during celebrations. This time around I'm adding a review because I truly felt they showed outstanding service in all aspects from hospitality to the quality in their drinks, food and entertainment. I would recommend for birthdays. This specific night was my girlfriends birthday and it was also a themed girls night from the Playlist to the Performance. Unplanned but we recognized the theme right away! Cheers!

Yelp
Love the vibe truly unique. Great for a date or any occasion where a little retro CLASS and art is desired.

Yelp
Put your safety goggles on because you are about to be transported back to the future! I will admit, and most of you already know I am all about that glitz and that glamour. When I sought out a place to host my bachelorette party in Los Angeles I remembered the Edison being on my short list of 1. Booking can only be made three weeks in advance. Now you know, I had a calendar reminder set so I would be the first to snag the best spot for my party of 12! Our table couldn't have been anymore perfect. We had a VIP spot next to the bar, the stage and not toooooo far (but far enough) from the ladies restroom. Perfect. Speaking about the restroom, it maintains that classic old school persona with a hostess that offers perfumes, towels and all sorts of other toiletries. Classic L.A. Don't forget to tip. Our hostess provided a level of service that was fun, efficient and very attentive to our needs. With 12 ladies changing drinks, ordering food and disappearing on the dance floor in between, she managed us with grace. I can't say much about the food, I had bites here and there. My focus was strictly on the cocktails. Hell, I can't even tell you about the drinks I ordered, but isn't that what a bachelorette party is meant to induce? The food was okay, the drinks however were exceptional. Be sure to explore the inside of the entire building. There are many elements that will quickly reveal the beauty of this historical building and why it has remained. The open ceilings, the exposed brick walls, massive piping throughout small nooks here and there. Bring a date and cuddle in one of the private rooms, or bring a gang of beauties or your A-team fellas and slay a party up! Last but not least. The show. Enjoy the show! The dancers are fabulous! They do a little shimmy of three or four 10-15 minute sets. All I needed was for Mr. Gatsby to appear from the mist to make this magical dream a reality. In between performances a DJ keeps the crowd pumped and on the dance floor. It does get crowded after 10pm, thought not so much to prevent a grand time. Highly recommended!

Amanda R.

Yelp
This is hands-down one of my favorite speakeasies in Los Angeles! Every time I go there I am transported back to the 1920s and can enjoy an original daiquiri just like Gerald Fitzpatrick would! The staff is very friendly and accommodating and I honestly recommend going earlier in the evening rather than later. They also have a free show. And get this there is also a lady that dresses up as the absinthe and has absinthe shots available for purchase! I can't wait for it to open up again and I really hope that they don't go out of business waiting to be available for the public again!

Darla S.

Yelp
Love, Love, Love! The Edison. An acquaintance of ours used to manage it, so we for sure had top-notch service and fun every time. the food is SUPER! The table behind the DJ booth is awesome- though not the best spot for a show - we'd move to the floor to watch. And those shows are sooooo much fun! A real throw back to Empire Boardwalk, or anywhere you can imagine in old school Manhattan (only right here in LA!) We just love the vibe and the history of the building. Dress code is jacket+ and security is not messing around, so don't try rollin' in in your sneakers and shorts. Be sure to take a look around the whole place - there's so much to see in little nooks and crannies. Very much on the pricey side, it's an expensive night out, but treat yourself. One of those places you have to go to at least once. Parking off alley - real close. Enjoy!

Yelp
I've come here a few times for events with my company and I absolutely love the atmosphere. It's really unique and I could spend all night just exploring every inch of it. One thing to keep in mind is the entrance is hidden. Both times I've come here my Uber has missed the entrance. Luckily the 2nd time I knew where we were going so I could prep the driver. The first time, however, it took 2 trips around the block to realize the entrance was down the little back alleyway. the bartenders here are all extremely friend and make a mean cocktail. You're going to definitely taste the booze! The appetizers being passed around the night were also delicious and plentiful. I'm not sure if they were provided by The Edison or an outside company, but if they were from The Edison I tip my hat to them! In all, while I can only speak for private events, I can't say anything bad about The Edison. It's such a fun place that I find myself talking to people any chance I can.

Henrietta M.

Yelp
The three stars are mostly for the ambiance and the fact that if you go with a party, you can reserve an area to sit in. In addition to the ambiance, the other positive was the live band. Otherwise, this was a mediocre outing. The waitress definitely didn't want to be there and actually brought down our party's mood as every single person commented on her attitude. Someone should look into boosting the morale of your employees or better training. The drinks were very unreliable. We got a few of the "one for the road" at different times and it was completely different each time. The first one was good, the second one was too sweet (even though made by the same guy), the third one I tried didn't even taste like the same drink. My friend said the female bartender was reading off what was included in it while attempting to make it. Your bartenders should at least know how to make your "signature" drinks with some consistency before they start. The food was very average, we weren't fans. Probably would never have the food here again, if we do return.

Yelp
For being an iconic DTLA spot, I was thoroughly let down by service and quality of food and entertainment. We stopped by on a Saturday evening by chance as we were in town. There was a $10 cover as they had burlesque shows through the night, which sounded fun. First, the burlesque show was a huge disappointment. I've seen plenty of burlesque in the past and this was the most mild and tame show, the dance sequence was simple choreography, and I swear it lasted no more than 10 minutes. Definitely not worth the cover. Second, when we were greeted by the hostess she mentioned if we wanted to eat, seating for the show would require at least a $50 minimum per person. We were fine with that as we wanted the whole experience, however we got sat in some back corner not in sight of the stage. When we politely mentioned to our waitress that the hostess had indicated we'd be seated in sight of the stage, she was very rude and immediately snapped it was our fault for not reserving in advance. We left the seating right after and went back to the bar where we found you can still order food without the minimum order requirement. We ordered the mushroom flatbread and bone marrow. The mushroom flatbread was akin to eating dry cardboard with mushroom on top. No flavor, minimal toppings, stale taste. The bone marrow came with only a single serving and for some reason some giant piece of bread. There wasn't even enough marrow to eat with the bread. It was good, but overly priced for what is typically considered a half serving. I order bone marrow often and 9 times out of 10 usually you get two pieces at least. I was disappointed. The only redeeming aspect of our experience was the bar. I didn't take photos of the drinks, as they weren't anything particularly special, but we tried a few different cocktails and they were all pretty solid. The venue itself is also aesthetically pleasing, but that doesn't justify the costs, poor food quality, and rude servers. This was my first experience at The Edison. I won't bother returning on my own accord.

Kristy K.

Yelp
Beautiful space but drinks and service could be way better. I think I had to ask the bar where the waitress was at least 2-3 times to order more drinks at the table. The music and vibes were pretty good. - There's $10 cash cover - Cocktails were overly sweet but had interesting ingredients - If you sit at a table, there's a $ min per person

Jessica T.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night and there was a cover charge of $10 around 10pm (boo). BUT, it was my first time here and I love the atmosphere. It's located downstairs, and is quite roomy, with people dressed up a little more than casual. There was a burlesque show (which was cool because who doesn't love shows at a bar?!), and ladies dressed like fairies served absinthe from a cart. Such a great ambience and had friendly bouncers/security (unlike other places in LA). Highly recommend for a fun night out in LA!

Mark M.

Yelp
We love this place! Knowing that we enjoy the Roaring Twenties, this place was sure to be a hit from the moment we heard about it's set-up. We came here with a group of friends early to get in quicker and to get a thorough feel of the place. This joint was very classy and we certainly dressed the part to keep it formal while adding a touch of what you'd see during the Jazz Age. The music was on point and walking on the dance floor immediately brought us into an era filled with simpler times and feel-good vibes. We were enamored with the old-school architecture and decor that lit up the Edison. We also praised the addition of classic films to keep it going with that "old-school establishment/speakeasy" feel. The food and drinks made this get-together an even more positive experience. We can't wait to go back for the next gathering for a special event!

Mimi L.

Yelp
Huge bar and lounge, kind of a restaurant too, plenty of seatings, weird industrial revolution period factory decorations, NOT cute at all. $10 cover charge was fine but NO waitresses waking around taking drink orders? Had to go to the bar to get drinks each time, what did we pay cover charge for then? $15 a drink is kinda pricey for a self serving bar, at least they were big and strong. I just wanted to have a few more drinks after dinner in Korean town on a Friday night. BAD choice obviously, should've gone to Mrs. Fish or Perch. Only good thing was they had valet service.

Marianne M.

Yelp
Beautiful evening, the ambiance is classy & upscale and a wide wine bar collection. Beautiful place to enjoy with friends.

Nina N.

Yelp
$12 valet, $10 cover the Saturday I went, strict dress code, chic interior, and... The best bartender in the world works here (Paul can spin a menu on his finger, light fire in your "Old Fashioned" cocktail, and shake a drink as fast as Bruce Lee could punch! Truly the best show in the house. The sexy ladies on the stage are just Ok... he is theshow stopper!) It's a great place to dress sexy classy, get great drinks, comfortably sit & talk with friends for 2-3 hours. The music could be way better...like pump it up DJ! But it was good enough for most folks to politely shake their asses lol.

Kislev A.

Yelp
ENTRANCE Entrance to this Industrial-chic lounge-bar is off the alley beside the listed address. I kept walking back and forth looking for "The Edison" and couldn't find it. I finally took a chance and went investigating in the alley. Don't worry, it wasn't too far in. And the "bouncer" is very visible once you've decided to go in. FOOD Shanghai Wings were addicting. Not too spicy either. Electric Squid was satisfying Edison Fries hits the spot. DRINKS I don't really drink so The Mistress was great. It's like drinking juice. They probably barely put alcohol in it too because I specifically told the server "I don't really drink, which of these cocktails is the sweetest". They had a "nickel drink" early bird special. Which was either not fit to drink, or was extremely strong. In which case, most of you would really like this. There are various little rooms at The Edison which you will find whilst navigating around decommissioned electric generators the designers chose to keep for display. Good call. AMBIENCE AND SPACE The high ceiling in the opulent great room prevents the space from being claustrophobic since the decor is dark. Black and White silent movies are on a continuous loop. Adding to the turn-of-the-century, industrial-chic charm.

Lisa W.

Yelp
4 stars for the burlesque show 3 stars for the drinks 4 stars for the venue So... Why the 2 stars? The employees were straight up rude. Well, one in particular. We came here a little before 9 to meet up a friend. My friend didn't tell us that there was a dress code and cover. So we walked into a ambush. It's downtown LA so we expected cover, but the dress code was a little too much. Themed as the 20s or great gatsby... We didn't really know so I'll admit we were normally dressed for girls night out, but under dress for this place. That was our bad. Cover, $10 on a Saturday night, no biggie. As we walked in one of the girls taking cover immediately stared us down and stereotyped us. And to top it off, underdressed. She immediately said with the most bitchest voice, "if you guys aren't gonna pay step to the side for other guest" we all look back and no one was there. I don't know what her f-Ing problem was but I was taking money out of my purse when this snobbish ass bia was so rude. Sorry that you have to be a cover girl and didn't make the cut to be a burlesque girl. Because those burlesque girls were so nice! They did the show with a smile and even came down to take pictures with people and greeted people. Maybe if this snobbish cover girl get her head out of her ass and put on a smile and be nicer to paying customers she'll land a better gig. She acted like her shit didn't stink. Your job is taking cover!! Other than the bad first impression, drinks were okay. They put and old fashioned in a martini glass... That was weird. Drinks were pricey. Venue is cool. Some people were way too pretentious. We saw a guy with an oversized white fedora and a blue pin strip suit... Acting like he rule the place... Ridiculous. Girls in full sequence gown, not dress, a gown... It was bit too much. As I said the best thing was the burlesque show. I'm sure this place doesn't care for my business as I don't care for theirs thanks to the rude cover girl first impression that ruined our girls night out and girls wanna fun. Girls turned out to be so catty. I think I'll stick to non pretentious dive bars thanks.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and all around a great sophisticated cocktail bar! The Edison is located a few stories underground in downtown LA's first private power plant (no longer in operation). So the interior is industrial yet sophisticated. It can get quite busy, so get there early. If you want a table, there is a food and drink minimum after 7pm ($50/person on Friday and Saturday nights), but you can order food from the bar to avoid the table minimum. We tried the truffled mac and cheese and the warm chocolate chip cookies. Both were absolutely delicious! Also, my friend and I tried a total of 4 different cocktails. They were all amazing and tasted very fresh! There have different events and shows at the Edison. The Friday night I went they had aerial shows throughout the night. The Edison has a great atmosphere, fantastic drinks and it's a great place to spend a night out in downtown LA!

Peijean T.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best spots, if not THE coolest, in Los Angeles. I recently got to experience this 1920s-style underground bar lounge on an uncrowded Thursday night. There was a live jazz band, and a projection of an old film on the wall, and incandescent bulbs hanging from the ceiling as you descended three flights of metal stairs. We arrived after 8PM and there was no line or cover to get in, but on weekend nights I hear it's much busier and there is a cover. The bar menu has cocktails for around $15, including absinthe, for which this place is known. I was eagerly hoping to spot the green fairy, who walks around letting you sample absinthe, but she was nowhere to be found that night. Instead, we were treated to elaborately dressed burlesque dancers who appeared on the stage one at a time and danced along with the live music. It was my first ever introduction to burlesque and quite a treat! I was even more excited when my friend and I wandered behind a curtain to a backroom and noticed rows of metal contraptions sitting in a seemingly secret area where no one else was. We checked with the staff and they said we were allowed back there. We couldn't figure out what the metal contraptions were and were told they were generators. Apparently the Edison originally was the first private power plant in LA and was abandoned until several years ago when it was totally rebuilt into the club it is today! This backroom, when not busy, is the perfect place to step away for a few minutes to get away from the loud main room with the live music. I tried to broadcast a periscope from the generator room, since I do livestream video around LA showing people the coolest hotspots, but alas we were so deep in the basement, there wasn't a shred of signal on my phone. I will be back, hopefully when the green fairy is there!

Sarah W.

Yelp
Very cool vibe, underground, with some incredible architecture and the layout is a complete home run. I would kill to be there just to walk around before they open or before it gets crowded. Pros: the drinks are very good and the whole place is kept very clean. I opted for "The Edison" cocktail and it did not disappoint. Be aware, these will run you $15 each. The atmosphere, lighting, projected movies on the wall is all really cool and it's definitely worth a visit or two. People watching is great here. Cons: There is an entry fee of $10, if you aren't on the guest list This place gets PACKED on weekends, and you are just slammed in between people unless you can find a quiet corner to stand in The bartenders are also slammed, and it takes a while to get your drink and pay. Might come back if we went on off-peak hours next time!

Jenn G.

Yelp
Wow. Downtown LA's not so hidden gem. After hearing so much about this place, I finally got to check it out on Friday night. I knew it would a special place but that still did not quite prepare me for this one of a kind place. Located in the middle of Harlem Alley, one who has never been here would never expect to find such a place like this. My friend and I arrived before nine and so the line to get in was not to long. There was hardly any wait and the bouncer quickly checked my ID. He said "cheers," it was off to a whole new world known as The Edison. It was with much anticipation and excitement as we descended down the stairs. The dim atmosphere, hanging lights all gave a very classy feel from the start. Once in the basement, the 1920s emphasis is all around. It's a pretty big place with one main bar area and another bar off to the side. There's a small stage for performances, a dj playing tunes to the side and various little lounges. One of the lounges is quite a sight because it has old generators from when this place used to be a power plant. They've got quite a menu of various eats! There's deviled eggs, wings, steak and short ribs! Yum! The drink menu is extensive and was very decently priced ($14 for their signature drinks, $8 for their non-alcoholic). I got a Natasha from their Sobering Spirits menu and it was one of the best Virgin drinks I've ever had. It has raspberry, lemon and pineapple. Further into the night, they have performances. First show of the night was an impressive acrobat show. Complete with dramatic gestures and music, a guy twirled and did an acrobat act. It was intriguing, entertaining and a good show. There was always something interesting going on through the night. The atmosphere is just something different. They even have a waitress dressed as an absinthe fairy selling colorful potion drinks. Crowd wise. It was a mix. There was folks in their twenties to older couples. In a way, it was good because you didn't have a rowdy crowd but it wasn't too uptight either. The Edison is one historic place. It's special and unique and it's no wonder this place is a (not so hidden) gem.

Yelp
Out of all the lounge bars in LA I think I disliked the Edison the most. Street parking if you are lucky or valet for $12 It is super annoying they keep you in line outside on the street even though the place is empty inside. They do it to make it look packed when it really isn't. They slowly let people in at a time. Cover is $10 unless you come early. Drinks are super expensive and not that good. Self seating is spread throughout. Dress code is enforced so make sure you come nicely dressed. The only good thing about this location is the 20s throwback decor. Makes you feel like you are in old school speakeasy.

Yelp
I go here monthly for the latin jazz Wednesday. (Free) The place is very nice and classy. Definitely more upscale than our regular salsa places, so be prepared to dress up! (There is a dress code). There is a live band playing called "la verdad" on latin jazz night and they are good. It gets pretty packed in there to the point you can't really dance at around 10:30pm. Food and drinks are unremarkable but the ambiance is really great. Because it is a Wednesday, the band starts playing at about 8:30 and they end around 10:30. The dj will play in between and at the end of the night. They close pretty early at around midnight on these nights. Overall it is a fun place to go hang out with friends or just to have a drink, relax and listen to some live music!

Yelp
Great venue, great atmosphere, trendy LA ish but with all ages ... and good mix ... dinner service a bit slow .. but food is delicious. Reservations are recommended for dinner service. Minimum $50 must be consumed PER PERSON. You may eat at the bar ... and IF you find and open table ... with no minimum... I highly recommend doing this unless you are having a special event . Table service was lacking . We ended up walking up to the bar to get drinks ... waiter took EXTREMELY long. In all fairness before 9pm he was very attentive ... after 11 .. had to stop him ... flag him down to get another drink. It took 30 minutes for him to come back to pick up our check. Now this is an awesome bar ... aerial dancers, great music, dj, fairies ‍ serving Absinthe... in cute little bottles .. and it was actually yummy ... not like other places that wet tastes like gasoline ... Bottom line if u don't want a minimum then just show up early grab a spot... That's what i plan to do next time ... ps. The Edison , Speak Easy feel , is worth the trip. also worth it is the Valet parking ..... under $10 and no stress looking for parking or when ur leaving walking to ur car. IMPORTANT .. No one will be allowed in without a collar shirt and without ID ... even on there slowest night!!!!!!!

Yelp
I only come here to hear Marley Munroe sing. Her voice is incredible! Service is good. Place is really pretty. Food is good. Drinks are terrible! Every time I come something is off about the drinks. This last time I just said forget it...I'll have a coke! But even the coke was flat. The bartender apologized and handed me an Evian water on the house. Come for the music, grab and bite and good luck with the drinks!

Yelp
Despite our reservation booked on Open Table a week in advance, management didn't email us until 2 minutes!!! before our reservation time to let us know the entire venue was closed for a private party on Dec 7, 2019. AGM Louis met us outside, without immediately offering up an apology or explanation, but informed us that we should contact GM AP@theneverlands.com, and that they would reply to my email with "something that will make you very happy" for their mistake. We sent an email that night, but unfortunately, it's four days later and we still haven't heard back from The Edison.

Yelp
To start, I am a HUGH FAN of the EDISON. This is probably my favorite bar in LA; I've been going for years. I know Covid has created a massive problems for and that's understandable. What's not understandable is the fact that yelp nor the bar's website is not properly updated. The Edison is not open, I was there last night with family from Ohio and it never opened; we wasted part of our evening. We constantly looked at the website and yelp before going and it said the Edison would open at 7 PM; we even tried calling and got no information. We were all hit by COVID in one way or another, I get it, but please update your status properly. PLEASE COME BACK!!

Yelp
This place is themed to perfection. The interior and it's decor totally transports you to the 1920s. Plus I really like how you enter from the alley and walk down a flight of stairs to get downstairs to the lounge/bar. So mysterious. We had a reservation there for a party of 12, so we didn't have to pay the $20 entrance fee, BUT each person in our party had to spend $50 on either food or drinks. Anywho, the drinks were all very tasty and I really really enjoyed the pimms cup $14. It was super refreshing! The music the DJ was playing was good but remember everything is themed here, so all he played were oldies, classics, and funk. You are not going to find any lil jon tracks or twerking here. I'd also like to point out that the crowd here is mostly early 30s and up. ALSO THERE IS A DRESS CODE!!! MEN MUST WEAR A COLLAR SHIRT. I repeat, MEN MUST WEAR A COLLAR SHIRT.

Yelp
Tried to celebrate my birthday here. We booked over a week in advance, and confirmed our reservation the night before. They even charged my card the morning of our reservation. When we arrive from over an hour away by uber we were told that they had cancelled our reservation, and that they had tried calling, but I didn't leave a good number. I checked the correspondence and found my correct phone number in the same message as my credit card info. So the young girl at the front was either not truthful, or not communicating with the booking company. The front receptionist was pretty apathetic about the whole situation and seemed to be bothered by the fact that she had to answer our questions as to why we were canceled without notice. I never received a response from onsite staff, or the group they make you book through, as to how and why this happened. We spent our night at Perch, and had dinner at 71 Above. I highly recommend you spend your money at either of these fine establishments, and do not waste time or money at The Edison.
