"The Elephant Walk is a popular stop for its signature mix of Cambodian and French cuisine, much of which is gluten-free and clearly marked as such. Cambodian starters and entrees are notably successful, from a sour soup with shrimp and a nicely spiced salad of raw tuna, avocado, and lemongrass to grilled rainbow trout with Chinese broccoli; to finish, the French sweets are a good bet, including a rich chocolate truffle cake offset by tangy raspberry." - Celina Colby

"The Elephant Walk fuses classic French dishes with Cambodian flavors to create dishes like poulet a la citronnelle, chicken thighs marinated in lemongrass sauce with peanut, onion, bell pepper and scallion or beef tenderloin caramelized in black pepper, garlic and mushroom soy and served with a lime-garlic dipping sauce." - Celina Colby, Eater Staff

"The Elephant Walk is the place to go for excellent French and Cambodian fare — don’t miss the trey tuk peng pah, with crispy catfish in a tangy sweet and sour sauce — and the larger restaurant space makes it a reliable bet for a weeknight walk-in." - Matt Yan, Eater Staff

My friend and I dined here during Dine Out Boston and are so glad we did. This South End quaint restaurant is a local gem. Wayne was our host and server. He was attentive, gave great menu recommendations, and exuded kindness. He was very refreshing! The associate server, a young lady whose name I didn’t get, was also very helpful. As for the dishes, everything we had (pictured) was GREAT! From the spring rolls and mussels to the braised duck noddle dish and the lemongrass curry chicken to the chocolate cake (which I didn’t try) and the coconut custard, all DELICIOUS. Extra praise for the mussels, chicken in the lemongrass sauce and the coconut custard dessert. Honestly, run, don’t walk to try out this restaurant. I would have ordered 2 of everything if I wasn’t satisfied.

Great fusion of French and Cambodian traditional dishes with flavor discoveries galore. Any dish with duck was savory and juicy and all six of us were eager to try the dish of the others and share the delight of our own. Great service and a short but very good wine list. Quite an array of innovative cocktails to boot!

Very friendly staff. Very cute ambience perfect for a date night. Most importantly delicious food with good portions. Highly recommend. I will definitely be coming back! Chilled Avocado Citrus Soup- like an elevated sweet and sour soup. orange juice adds a nice sweetness and a light tartness and the lime juice adds a nice zing. Very refreshing. The hearty amount of avocado adds a nice texture. I added a little hot sauce they provide which gave it a little heart and worked very well. 4/5 Porc Diplomat- generous portion of perfectly cooked and tender pork marinated in soy. Covered in a hearty sauce of coconut milk, black pepper, and garlic. The coconut as a nice creaminess and sweetness, where the pepper and garlic added a good savoriness. The rice seemed to have some lemon grass in it and added a nice flavor. The bok choy has an amazing soy and ginger dressing. So delicious. 5/5 Le Péché au Chocolat- dense decadent chocolate cake. Very taste. Added a scoop of pistachio ice cream which was also good. 5/5

Food seems overrated based on other reviews. It was OK but there was no dish that blew me away. I also was expecting the menu to have more fusion dishes as opposed to having separate French and Cambodian dishes. The vibe and service at the restaurant were amazing though. We got the Rouleaux De Thon Cru Aux Epices Khmères, Kapik Khing, Polenta Et Canard Braisé Aux Champignons, Dumplings Croustillants Au Porc Epicé, Porc Aux Piments Doux Shishito, and Boeuf Bourguignon. The best dish we had was the tuna Rouleaux, but the sauce with it was a very strong lime flavor. We thought the Rouleaux paired very well with the dumpling sauce though.

Google
Our very first time at Elephant Walk. Heard so much about this Cambodian-French place and so psyched to finally try it. And it did not disappoint! The portions were good and the flavors sophisticated and amazing. My absolute favorite is the B'baw Muon soup that reminded me of a comforting bowl of Congee. Big shoutout to our bartender Don who took good care of us and gave us amazing recommendations every step of the way. We will be back!

The Kalamansi Agave Limeade was so good! I ordered two of them 🙂. Unfortunately, the dumplings and trout entrees didn't quite hit the mark.

We went here for Friday night dinner, and everything was incredible. Our servers were very kind, the ambiance was great, and the food was amazing! For appetizers, we ordered the vegetarian Rouleaux and the Kapik Khing Croquette de Riz (the best thing we got in my opinion). For entrees, we ordered the Loc Lac and the vegan Curry des Crevettes aux Legumes Frais. For dessert, we ordered the Poire Pochee (a bit too tart for me but the texture was nice and not too mushy). Overall, I thought the food was very good and I would definitely return!

Google
Long story short… food was good but the service was lacking. Short story long… We were seated quickly, but sat staring at our menus just short of an hour before being given water or a chance to place app/drink orders. Drinks are good in both flavor and presentation, definitely go for the Lychee. The menu has an interesting and unique combo, of styles and ingredients, with several very tasty sounding options to choose from. The tuna spring roll was great to start! We opted for Amok Royale and Kari Tieh, both good options and would recommend, although would have preferred a touch more spice on the duck. After ordering our entrees, food came out at a reasonable time and temp, but we weren’t checked on afterwards. 2 parties arrived after we did, and while the service staff was very attentive to both of them, they seemed to move past us without acknowledgment. It’s not a pleasant feeling to be ignored, unfortunately I left disappointed, albeit not by the food.

Yelp
We really wanted to like this place, the reviews were so promising. French cambodian seemed like an exciting mix but turned out to be just an americanized version of an asian menu with a slight influence of french classics. Seemed like the spot was popular for a Thursday evening, people kept pouring in as the evening went on. The staff were very sweet but definitely understaffed because it took forever for us to order and get the check. We got the spring rolls and the two vegan curries with tofu. The spring rolls were nice but the curries lacked salt and pretty much any flavor. The yellow curry was basically just onions with a couple of tofu pieces. Overall extremely disappointed :(

Alicia C.

Yelp
So I have mixed feelings about this place. I had been eyeing their rolls after seeing the photos. I grew up with an amazing Vietnamese restaurant that had fried spring rolls made with the rice paper, where the skin was fried to a bubbly perfection. So I was looking forward to trying these. Although I later realized that these were more like the wonton skins instead of rice paper, so it was a bit thick, but overall it was served with a good amount of lettuce, veggies and tart dipping sauce. I would have loved it more with a rice paper skin, but this was still delicious. The man who took my order at the bar was also very considerate about suggesting I order a partial order of 2 or 3 rolls since the full order of 5 would be a lot for one person, I will say, I was was warned before coming here that it is more fusion and Americanized Asian than authentic Cambodian. And the curry definitely said that. First, I do appreciate that they had a lovely vegan curry option which was a thick yellow coconut curry with lots of pumpkin and other veggies. This was a nice change to the usual curries. The only bummer was that there was some gross hair in the plate and when I brought it up, the bartender proceeded to take a knife and dig through my plate to confirm if it was hair or not. It was very obviously a short curly strand of female hair that was bleached as you can see the transition from black to blonde. They did assure me that the man in the back for this station had a hair net, but from the hair it looks more like it is from the lady serving the food. Either way, it does make me cringe thinking about the details. That aside, they did eventually make me a new plate which by that point I wanted to cancel but proceeded to have it since they placed the order. The lychee drink was a nice virgin cocktail, a tad sweet but quite refreshing. Overall, while the food is more fusion than traditional Cambodian, this is still a nice bar and dinner spot for people to gather in the south end. The dishes were also well thought out and plated, so it's still worth coming to try.

William Z.

Yelp
Very delicious food! I forgot to take pictures of the other things we ordered because we were too busy eating. The lychee lemonade was such a good drink, it tasted more like lychee and less lemon, which I loved the service was fast, professional, and warm, great restaurant for a dinner out, a date, whatever!

Brissa I.

Yelp
We were immediately welcomed, had an early reservation and we were seated immediately. All of the food looked and smelled delicious. We really enjoyed all the dishes. We had two cocktails which were both delightful and fresh. Service was great, we had a lovely server who was attentive and brought us water often and asked us about our food. Not many people inside when we arrived, so it was a bit quiet minus the people sitting at the bar, but as we dined more people started coming in. Very interesting food, definitely worth a try!

Yelp
I think this restaurant is more for the Americanized tastebuds. Nothing wrong with it - but it didn't really taste Cambodian, and it didn't really seem French either. Maybe a fusion of both, on an introductory level? Either way, tried the croustillant de thon, avocado citrus soup, amok, and passion fruit mousse. I'd recommend the avocado citrus soup more than the other items as they kind of tasted a bit muted, if you know what I mean (and I'm spice-averse). Lovely ambiance, friendly staff otherwise.

Monali Z.

Yelp
Highly recommend! I'm not familiar with Cambodian cuisine so I can't speak on authenticity, but the food was delicious. Every food item was flavorful and the meats (duck, pork, beef) were tender and not rubbery in the slightest. Great portions Service was amazing, they were incredibly attentive and friendly. The food came out fast, and the drinks were great. I really liked the purple panda cocktail in particular. The poached pear... probably my favorite dessert in a while, absolutely blew my mind. I love the decor of the space, the music was right down my alley (more indie), and the vibes were friendly and chill. This is a good place to chill with friend and a great date spot. I'm definitely coming back!

Yelp
: 9/10 Perfectly pan-seared scallops, adored with a delicate champagne tarragon cream sauce juxtaposed harmoniously with zesty notes. The leak and spinach polenta acted as a nice, savory base that perfectly soaked up the luscious sauce. Finally, the Emily mushrooms added a crunchy and pleasant texture to an overall well-rounded French dish! : 9.1/10 From the Cambodian menu, this dish was a delightful twist on the French classic, beef bourguignon. Tender, boneless beef short ribs braised in a balanced blend of tangy, sweet tamarind, ginger, chili, and soy. The noodles were wonderfully chewy, and the pickled cucumbers acted as the perfect palette cleanser! é : 8/10 Crispy dumplings with a savory minced pork filling. Lemongrass added a subtle tank to the pork, and the wild lime leaves gave a slightly sweet and floral note. Served alongside sesame hoisin dipping sauce and cucumber pickles, this was definitely a great starter to the meal! A Cambodian and French fusion restaurant; now there's something you don't see everyday. But, I was delighted that @elephantwalksouthend executes both cuisines perfectly! Each dish stayed true to their respective region and did not hold back on flavor. I highly doubt recommend going with a friend to experience both region's cuisine and get the full picture of what makes this restaurant so good! Is a bit pricey? Sure, but isn't all French food that way? The inside was very cute and cozy, really emulating casual fine dining vibes.

Ryan M.

Yelp
Attentive service with great staff. Nice ambiance too! Food was wonderful, and I can't wait to try more on the menu. We got the Khar Saiko Kroeung, Pavé De Saumon, and the Soup Phnom-Penh. The particular standout was the Le Péché dessert--so incredible I have a hard time describing it. Highly highly recommend!

Aya R.

Yelp
Item(s) ordered: Dreamsicle cocktail; Avocat Kanthor; Curry Des Crevettes Aux Légumes Frais; Légumes Et Tofu Grilles, Curry Vert Au Gingembre; Le Péché Au Chocolat Vibes: Incredible restaurant. Very moody lighting, with a great bar area as well. The Review: If there is one word to describe Elephant Walk, it is "curated". All the way down to the mixed drinks and wine, every dish is full of consideration. Once a local chain with four locations, Elephant Walk is a Cambodian restaurant founded about 30 years ago. They still have some staff from its birth. The food was impeccably prepared, with tons of flavor with very fresh ingredients. I personally preferred the Cambodian side of the menu. There are an abundance of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, allowing a culinary opportunity for a wide audience. Some things can be adjusted to be gluten-free, and the servers are very knowledgeable. The bartender knew all the dishes like the back of his hand, and even gave us some fantastic nuggets of history about the restaurant. Elephant Walk was an immersive experience in a humble-yet-fine dining establishment that was truly unforgettable. Thank you for a fantastic meal that was worth every penny!

Yelp
Restaurant smells weird when you walk in, but loved the decor and how spacious it is. Waiter is nice and gave me and my friend space to catch up. Food was delicious, but wasn't my favorite flavor profile. Still happy I gave them a try and would come back to try other options.

Yelp
Appetizers: seared scallops w/mango salad 4.5/5 Mains: Curry des crevettes aux legumes frias (shrimp curry) 4/5 fillet de thon saisi aux deux coilis pimentes (pear ravioli and tuna) 4.5/5 Khar Saiko Kroeung (beef short rib, noodles, cucumber) 5/5 trey tuk peng pa catfish 3.9/5 Desserts: le Peche au chocolat (chocolate cake w/raspberry) 3/5 Mousse Aux Fruits de la passion (passion fruit mousse tart w/pineapple) 3/5 poached pear w/ pistachio sorbet 4/5 sangkhia l'pao coconut custard w/kabocha squash 4.1/5 Drinks: purple panda 5/5 lychee lemonade 5/5 one night in angkor (dark rum pineapple thai basil shrub) 5/5 Probably one of my favorite places in Boston! I came here for dinner with some friends and LOVED the food. Highly, highly recommend the Khar Saiko Kroeung for a main. IT IS SO GOOD. The chewiness of the noodles and the tenderness of the beef combined with the flavor of the sauce is amazing. Additionally, all of the drinks we tried were great. Very balanced flavors that complimented each other well. Desserts are not bad. Nothing amazing, not a necessity to try. During our time at dinner, our server forgot to put our order in and we had to wait ~45 minutes to get our mains. However, our server apologized and gave us our appetizer for free as well as 4 desserts on the house. It. Was. Superb. Shoutout to our server, Bar, who really came through and made up for the long wait we had for our food. The interior of the restaurant itself is nice. It has a good atmosphere for a more upscale dinner with friends, family, or for a date. There's also plenty of street parking nearby that is a short walk to the restaurant.

Hursuong V.

Yelp
I'm not very familiar with French Cambodian food so this was interesting! I enjoyed my meal and everything was pretty delicious but expensive for what it was. Unfortunately nothing is family style and it's hard to share the entrees among the party as well. Service was pretty good.

Joyce K.

Yelp
I came here on a weekday for "date night" to celebrate my friend's birthday. The cuisine (French Cambodian) is very unique. The reservation process was seamless and we got a nice seat near the front. We debated whether to get drinks and ended up getting two different lychee flavored drinks. Mine was the lychee lemonade, which was amazing! For mains, I got the Curry Des Crevettes Aux Légumes Frais (curry with shrimp and vegetables). It came with a very generous number of shrimps, and a variety of veggies with rice. The curry was delicious and I ate every bite! My friend got the Khar Saiko Kroeung (beef short ribs with noodles and pickles) and really liked hers too. Knocking off one star because I felt that the prices were a little bit high ($25-35 per entree), but I can see the argument that the quality and uniqueness made it worth it. The service was quite attentive and always had our waters refilled. Overall a nice spot for an elevated dinner experience.

Evangeline L.

Yelp
First off, try the non-alcoholic drinks. The lychee lemonade was simple but DELICIOUS. Every ingredient was fresh, and I'd go back just for the drinks. I got the Poulet a la Citronnelle (gluten free) and it was also extremely delicious! Everything here but the spot and had unique flavors and was incredibly fresh. If you are gluten free, this place can accommodate!

Phuong L.

Yelp
Concept of the restaurant was unique. They had menu sections for french and cambodian food. I got the salmon dish with risotto and my partner got the steak and fries. I thought the entrees were pretty good overall. There were minor things that we didn't enjoy like the seasoning was not consistent but it's okay. Our waitress was great and super friendly. Just a tip for another waitress -- please don't spray cleaning solution right next to customers who are still eating. My partner felt the mist from the cleaning solution... maybe spray it on the towel first and then wipe the table.

Al H.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, nothing mind blowing in my opinion. It was a bit too saucy for me but I'm curious to try their other dishes (I would go back again). Big portions, unique flavors. Artful presentation, amazing service and attention to detail (someone I was with had a food allergy and the server was very attentive/careful about it). Queer-friendly.

Jasmeet M.

Yelp
What a fusion! I ended up here because I made an attempt to go to the restaurant, but couldn't find parking. I called the restaurant because I knew they were closing soon and they told me to come on down and I'm so glad I did! I started off with a delicious drink with passion, fruit and basil. Angel getting the tuna roll appetizer with an incredible peanut dipping sauce which reminded me of a Tom Yum soup! The tuna was fresh and the exterior was so nice and crispy. I ended up getting the cat fish for dinner. The restaurant makes their own scotch bonnet, hot sauce, and their own Sriracha hot sauce. Both are delicious and I added it to all my meals as well as catfish to give the broth a little kick. The service at the bar was great, and everyone that worked there was incredibly friendly. I hope to return when I go back to Massachusetts!

Yelp
First time trying Cambodia French cuisine. We met some friends who have been here many times. They recommended 2 appetizers, ROULEAUX - Cambodian ground pork spring rolls, eaten with lettuce, bean sprouts and peanut sauce. They showed us to place the spring roll on a lettuce leaf, cut the spring roll vertically, add the bean sprouts and tuk trey sauce, wrap the lettuce around it and eat. All the flavors melded together and it was very good. I had the Braised Long Island duck leg served with blood orange reduction sauce, roasted sweet potato and sautéed Gai Lan; garnished with fresh chive and sliced orange. It was very good, moist and fell off the bone. Service was slow and not attentive. We had to get his attention to order. Ambiance was nice, a little dark so it was hard to read the menu. The food was served quickly.

Carsyn F.

Yelp
Every dish was superb, the drinks were creative and well-executed, and the service was great as well!

Brandon N.

Yelp
Have you ever had a dining experience where every dish literally just knocked your socks off? Elephant Walk was one of those rare experiences for me. Each one of those dishes were a highlight and tasted absolutely sublime. I didn't know avocados could taste this good and work so well with vegetables. I didn't know the pork egg rolls could beat every one of the hundreds of rolls I had in my history on this planet (crisp heaven with juicy filling inside that just make your eyes pop). I didn't realize how delectable a solidified Tom yum curry would be. We also got their desserts of ice cream and coconut milk custard which were so satisfying. Everyone had a similar consensus. This place was so freaking good it made me think, just for a brief second, that French colonization was justified. No, it's not, obviously. But you might forget that with how good the Cambodian-French fusion food is here.

Madeline A.

Yelp
Loved this spot! We snagged an 8:30pm reservation for a Saturday last minute for 3 people and were super grateful. The place was packed, but they sat us on time which was appreciated. We ordered the raw tuna egg roll app which was incredible. It was like a huge sushi roll fried. I also loved the dumplings! I got the short rib stew which was delicious! The short rib was so tender and fell apart. I liked how there were mashed potatoes in the stew instead of actual potatoes. They have a generous wine and cocktail list. My friends also loved their meals and the food came out very quickly. Entrees are between $25-$35 and were worth every Penny; so tasty! I'd highly recommend coming here! It's a unique menu and absolutely delicious!

Lucy P.

Yelp
I love this place. It is always a treat coming here. The service is reliably positive and even fun depending on your server. Decor is trendy and adds to a cool vibe while dining. Everything I've had here has been really tasty. The short rib with noodles is my favorite. Pork dishes were also very good.

James F.

Yelp
Honestly this was probably the worst tasting food I've ever had. But there was absolutely no seasoning what so ever. Unless you're vegan and have gluten sensitivity this is the place for you. Other than that please pass.

Emily B.

Yelp
Standout of my trip to Boston for sure, and will be on regular rotation for my friends in the area. This restaurant did the impossible - managed to satisfy my party, which included vegans, vegetarians, fish enthusiasts, picky eaters, and adventurous eaters for a reasonable price. Everyone agreed the food was delicious - we got a mix of tofu curries, chicken curries, and shrimp soups. None of us had ever had Cambodian food, but it was all incredibly flavorful. Portions were generous, and tasted pretty damn good the next day. Ambiance was welcoming and relaxing, and service was attentive and friendly. Honestly, I felt kind of bad - we stayed there for a long time because we were enjoying ourselves much more than we expected to. We did tip well! And the price was overall pretty reasonable for an unforgettable experience.

Gloria H.

Yelp
I tried this restaurant with a big group a few months ago and got to try a variety of dishes. Overall I thought the selection was quite unique and there were some dishes I liked, but some others fell flat. There were some interesting appetizers including a a raw tuna crispy spring roll and a ground pork curry sort of dish. These were decent but not amazing. We tried two of the soups, but neither of them were particularly good. The tomato based soup was quite acidic and the noodle soup was pretty standard. The mussels were pretty good if I recall correctly. In terms of mains, the amok royal took a long time to be prepared and I thought it was a bit underwhelming. The sauce was pretty watery. We also got khar saiko kroeung which had pretty good noodles and some tangy beef that was not that tender. The steak and fries were quite good. But I was hoping to find some Cambodian dishes here that I really loved, which didn't happen.

DeeShawn R.

Yelp
Was able to get an early dinner reservation with some friends at 5:30pm. Everything else was booked. We were placed in the high booths and honestly the tables were pretty sticky and not really clean. My friends and I ordered 3 apps and each an entree + 2 drinks. The apps started out pretty good. Ordered Rouleaux, Nataing, and Dumplings. Definitely shareable with a group of friends. The dumplings were my favorite of the 3 and I liked the Nataing but wasn't the biggest fan of the rice crackers that came with it. Didn't feel like it went well together Their entrees were just ok. I ordered the Porc aux Pimentd Doux Shishito and it below average. Just stir fry at the end of the day. The others ordered Khar Saiko Kroeung, catfish, and curry with tofu. They all liked their food

Evan H.

Yelp
Love menu and food. This a very special place. Both the Cambodian and French food are outstanding. You find things on the menu here that you cannot find any place else.

Etienne D.

Yelp
Amazing food! Everything I had was delicious! The service was great. The atmosphere was great too. I will definitely go back when I visit Boston again. Highly recommended!!!

Kai Y.

Yelp
We had a birthday party there earlier today. Sitting there , waited like 20 minutes, the sever never showed up. We called the restaurant before we went , asked if we could take a birthday cake , the answer was a yes. (3 dollar extra charger for each person, we were totally fine with it) After we finished our meal, we asked for our cake, the server refused to give to us, because he was "pretty sure " about we wouldn't pay for those extra chargers, also kinda wanted us to pay for the bill , got out of the restaurant as soon as possible. After we told him , we called, and ok with 12 dollars "cake charges" , he became very grouchy, Came back in a minute, throw the cake on the table , and walked right away. What an unforgettable birthday dinner.

Laura E.

Yelp
Had the crispy catfish and it was absolutely delicious! The catfish was cooked perfectly and the tomato sauce was delicious, perhaps a tad bit sweet. The rice was fluffy and soft. Service was good even though the restaurant was packed (Saturday night). My friend and I had no issues hearing each other despite the busy night. The vibe was casual and cozy. I would gladly come again!

Emily N.

Yelp
great environment, good food but definitely pricey!ordered the lychee lemonade drink, spring rolls, an entree off the specials menu, and le peche au chocolate First time having Cambodian food, the server was so helpful in explaining the menu items and giving recs. Spring rolls were really good, they recommended we wrap the fried spring roll with the lettuce and bean sprouts and dip, would highly recommend! Beware the orange hot sauce if you get hot sauce (as our waitress warned us) Main entree was good, wasn't really sure what to expect but was a sweet coconut curry with different seafoods inside. It was a bit sweet for my liking but really filling and was fun to try, was $30 though so definitely expensive Dessert was a rich chocolate tart with ice cream, very yummy!

Cyrus W.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our New Year's Eve weekend meal here! Food was wonderful. Portions were a bit in the smaller sides but the flavors were well done. My swordfish special that night was amazing! Side of veggies I got was good too. Will have to come back again

Suzi B.

Yelp
Tasty French and Cambodian food in a quiet neighborhood off the beaten path. Excellent cocktails. Servers were super friendly and attentive.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Back again and equally impressed. Passionfruit mousse w the perfect balance of tart and sweet; just had to get the Sanghkia Pao dessert again.

Madhumitha R.

Yelp
Interesting place - Asian with a French twist. Had a decent vegetarian selection. The desserts were good too.

Heather L.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the food, it was so well made, the flavors were delicious. The service was quick and our waiter was super helpful in helping us decide what to order. I came during Dine-Out Boston Restaurant week, would highly recommend and would come here again.

Shirlane C.

Yelp
A group of us visited Elephant Walk for Restaurant Week and we really enjoyed everything from the service to the ambiance to the food. The service was super attentive but not overbearing. It was well decorated and most of all, we really enjoyed all the food. The spring rolls were a real highlight of the meal. They were crispy and chewy (the perfect amount). You must use the sauce they come with as it really adds a lot to the flavor. We also really enjoyed the hot sauces they brought to the table - be warned, they are SPICY. I got the salmon as my main and it was perfectly cooked (not dry at all) and very flavorful. We also thoroughly enjoyed the coconut pudding dessert. I highly recommend visiting and would come back without second thought.

Nhi P.

Yelp
Luc lac dish: it was good. Portions are small though for the price but it is a "fancy" restaurant. Cambodian pho: it was okay. Felt like it was very little portion. My noodles were slightly under cooked and i didn't get as much condiments as i usually would at other places, especially for a dish like this one. Drinks: One night in Angkor: sweet+sour with a spicy kick. It wasn't bitter at all and smooth. Still gave me a good buzz. I loved it. Definitely recommend, especially if you like lemonade lol Honestly it was an average experience. Our host was actually kind of stuck up and rude. It was empty when we came in but I get that we didn't have a reservation, which is fine, kindly turn us away. But he was kinda rude when seating us at the bar. There was also an argument that broke out between the bartender and a homeless guy that came in. Kind of odd for a fancy restaurant. Did that guy have a reservation? Lol

Yelp
Honestly I have nothing bad to say about this place except for maybe one sassy waiter, but I believe that was just her vibe so no points off for her! The drinks were good, the food was great. It actually reminded me of dishes my mom made growing up and I resonated with that for a bit. Dessert was also good! Must try the coconut flan! Ambiance is really nice too. It's not too loud inside so great for a date or with a group of close friends.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday night for my boyfriend's birthday and was able to get a table easily around dinner time! Really enjoyed my experience here and thought it was a great little date spot for us. In terms of drinks they have so many fun options. What I really appreciate about this place is that they have a lot of nonalcoholic options as well, more so than some of the other Restaurants that I've been to in Boston. And also all amazing sounding. Yes if you go for alcoholic drinks, and they did not disappoint. I think the best drink there was a psychedelic cocktail. I was kind of wary at first but it really tasted so good, kind of like a slushy and mask the alcohol flavor haha! I also enjoyed the Elephant whippet - not as sweet and very tart, just how I like it. I also got the purple panda which I thought I would like more due to it being a lemonade, but I didn't like it as much as the other drinks. The purple panda has gin at the top that's not mixed in and once you mix it in the flavor is still kind of strong. In terms of food rouleaux is what they say is there best appetizer. It was certainly very crispy and delicious, however the feeling didn't have as much flavor as I would've liked. They do present provide too spicy sauces that are very spicy and hit the point In terms of entrées we got the Loc lac, and the catfish. I had heard a lot about the loc lac and so was expecting a lot from it. It was definitely tasty with the meat being very tender, but What really was the star of the show was the catfish. The catfish was very soft and tender yet crispy and went beautifully with the soup that was provided as well. I definitely highly recommend trying this. I'm not usually a fish person but I would definitely get this again Service was also great our server was pretty busy throughout the night but still checked in on us and helped us out with the menu so really appreciated it!

Yelp
Ate here with a friend for Boston's Restaurant Week! Wayne was our server; he was so accepting of our poor/giving up on attempts to say the dish names that were in French. We will get those right next time, Wayne! Reservations were sparse due to restaurant week, I think, but we took our time and never felt rushed. I love a special sauce and think they really nailed them on the Croquette de Risotto and Pave de Saumon. The salmon was the smallest bit dry but the sauce was everything and the skin was fun & crispy. Make sure to ask about their homemade hot sauces if they don't already bring it up. The Sangkhia l'Pao was a unique dessert and of a soaked(?) nature. Le Peche was a nice gluten free chocolate truffle cake however, I've rarely met a chocolate cake I didn't like. Not a bite was left un-ate and I have left this experience inspired to embark on my own sauce-making stint.

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week on a Saturday evening and was blown away with the incredibly kind service as well as the quality of the food. This spot is definitely a place to try if you're interested in Cambodian-French style cuisine! I'd recommend making reservations early if that's the route you'd like to go. Even making it a few days in advance left us with only early or late dinner options so definitely plan ahead! We were seated quickly nonetheless and the space was relatively quiet, but still felt lively at the same time. The energy from the workers was incredibly kind and friendly as well which added to the ambiance! I loved the lychee lemonade - perfect fusion of the sweet fruit and tangy lemonade. I thought the lychee flavor was true to its name and overall was fantastic when mixed with the rest of the drink - the real lychee on top was a bonus! I really enjoyed the pork spring rolls. The person who delivered the food told me to eat it with everything on the plate and the flavors did not disappoint - super delicious and fresh! I honestly didn't enjoy my entree all too much which was the beef short ribs. It tasted a little too salty for my taste, but the meat was well cooked and the flavors were all there, albeit too rich for me. I would highly recommend the duck - super worth it portion-wise and taste-wise as well! For dessert, the cake was pretty fantastic. The coconut custard had a really interesting texture - I personally didn't enjoy it, but to each their own! Overall, great dinner and fantastic service. I wouldn't mind coming back to try their full menu another day too - thanks Elephant Walk!

Yelp
Awesome, awesome, awesome! Most consistent restaurant in the South End! The cocktails marry well with the food! Friendly staff and great atmosphere! A+++ I do not understand reviews of this place when they say portions are small...that is not the case! I never leave hungry!

Yelp
TL;DR - a spectacular experience from start to finish. Everything we had was unique yet approachable. The flavors were excellent and not overseasoned or over-greased. The prices were reasonable, especially in light of the large portions! Desserts should not be missed either. The location is comfortable, and the service is excellent. There is more to a restaurant than great food. Dining out is entertainment, and the theatre starts with the cloakroom. The experience at The Elephant Walk was all-around excellent! I wish I could better label my photos and break down what I ate. Not all of the names are in English, and their website was hacked, so I can't look up the menu. Please bear with me while I struggle through. The atmosphere inside is pleasant and relaxed. There's music playing gently in the background, so you aren't left out-yelling both it and the table(s) next to you. The location is small but cozy, and the service was fast, attentive, and friendly. To start, I had the Soupe Phnom-Penh "Kuy Tieu." This reminded me very slightly of Ramen. It was a large bowl of very light, pleasant broth with noodles, pork, and spices. Adding a little of their house-made hot sauces helps add a little heat if that's your schtick. Definite bonus, not oversalted in the lightest. My only note is I would have liked a little more protein. For a main, I had the Porc [sic] Diplomat. The spices on the meat were very flavorful, and the sauce took everything to the next level. No complaints about the veggies. I also have nothing negative to say, if that's any indication. Because sharing makes for great reviews, I was able to try a few bites of the Beef Bourguignon. While I am not typically a fan of braised meats, I cannot deny how unbelievably tender these pieces of beef were! For desserts, I was able to try everything but the sorbet. Again, I might be misnaming items; please bear with me. Sangkhia l'Pao is a great cake to break from the monotony of cakes you find in so many other restaurants. Great, light flavors and not overly sweet. The Chocolate Cake (Le Peche au Chocolat) was a simple, tasty chocolate cake. Nothing remarkable, but nothing negative to say either. The Mousse was an interesting, fruity dessert and a solid option for someone looking for someone a little fresher. Then there was the star of the show: Îles Flottantes. I can tell you this is a meringue-based dessert where the meringue floats in, well, something. This dish was as delicious as it is unusual. The meringue was delicate as can be, and that which it resides in was flavorful too. It is definitely something worth getting, and more than once.

Yelp
everything about this place is good, from the service to the wine and cocktail list (rare that both are this good at this price point) to the thoughtful menu. but the food is excellent. I have not eaten a single bad dish here, having come twice with big eaters who ordered wildly. the lighting is perfect, the music always good but not too loud--easy to have good conversations since the tables are well spaced. I just wish it were closer to my house.

Yelp
I had heard about this place from other people saying it was really unique and delicious. I wanted to come for dine out Boston, but just could not make it happen. I had some friends visiting from out of town. One of them is gluten-free. I thought this place would work well, since they actually label their food so my friend would be comfortable eating here. EXPERIENCE We walked in on a Thursday night for three people. We were sat pretty quickly. The server took our order. The drinks came out pretty quickly. The food took a bit, but not too long, we paced ourselves with the drinks. FOOD (3/5) Magret de Canard Poelé, sauce à l'orange sanguine (Long Island duck breas pan-seared with a blood orange reduction sauce; served with roasted Bosc pear, sautéed fingerling potato, and baby kale & tomato salad) - The portion for this was a bit small in my opinion, especially considering the price. I think maybe it was over cooked? I don't know, it just didn't taste or feel correct for duck meat. The sauce was sweet, maybe that was overpowering things? The pear was very soft and delicious. The potatoes were well done. The salad on the side was fine, whatever. I expected more from this? (2/5) Bavette a l'Echalotte, Frites Maison (grilled flat-iron steak with Sherry wine peppercorn sauce with shallot, home-made shoestring fries) - We ordered this to be medium cook. I think it was definitely more rare. Some pieces, we were nervous about eating. The pieces that were cooked well though, tasted really nice. The sauce with it was really unique, I liked it a lot. The fries were great, we got them on the side because they contained gluten. Hard to go wrong with shoestring fries though. (3/5) Truite Grillée, Marinade de Jalapeno au Citron (grilled deboned rainbow trout with spicy jalapeno-lime marinade, sautéed Chinese broccoli) - While most of the bones were out of the fish, we still did find a few inside. I know that is hard to control. This fish was spicy though. The marinade had some kick to it, not painfully overwhelming, but definitely noticeable. The sauce on the side was also spicy. I think it added a lot of flavor to the fish though, which was very well grilled. Borderline dry, the skin was really crispy. The broccoli and rice were fine. Nothing special. DRINK (5/5) Lychee Lemonade (no picture) - very tasty! I highly recommend this. It tastes exactly how you would think. Not too sweet, and not too sour. It tastes like the fruit, not like a syrup trying to replicate the flavor, there were also bits of real lychee in it. Super good. OVERALL Maybe this place was just overhyped to me. The dishes were definitely unique, something I've never seen before. But something about them all just didn't come together, maybe we ordered the wrong things. I was perhaps expect a lot more diverse flavor from a partially South East Asian establishment. The service was good. The ambiance was nice. I just didn't walk away very impressed. I would not take visiting people here again, it was just overall average. I think the food is fine, the price is a bit up there. It was an interesting try for the fusion of flavors I guess.

Yelp
Love that lychee cocktail! I also enjoyed the mi sime (probably spelled wrong) noodles. It's thin rice noodles with flavorful slightly spicy sauce, chicken, pork, and vegetables. Very lovely dish. The ribs was great too. We had two rounds of cocktails and all of them were delicious.

Yelp
This is one of my partner and I's favorite spots in the South End. The food choices are so unique & unlike anything else in the area. I usually always go for a Cambodian dish (the curry is INCREDIBLE) and my partner usually goes for something more French! The service is always lovely, all of the different waiters/waitresses I've had here are so kind. Will continue to come back here time and time again.
