I've been wanting to dine here to try their beef wellington and finally got the chance. Upon entering the place, I was enthralled by the decor, with so many vintage memorabilia and classic posters on the wall...there was even E.T!! Anyway, service was prompt and we were seated immediately (we did make reservations) and shown the menu. The staff offered to recommend dishes but we already knew what we wanted. The wait was long...we were warned after all on the menu - 30 min wait. I took this time to wander around and snap pictures. The place was huge, with different sections. as you walked towards the back, you see the private dining area that requires a minimum spend in order to reserve. Beyond that is a small pantry, where they prepare your drinks and dishes to be served. You can also see the Wellingtons in their fridges waiting to be heated up. The toilets were clean and pretty!!! Very posh English country vibe😂 with decorative wall tiles. So..food. The beef Wellington did not disappoint. While the portion looked small at first, by the end of the meal, I was feeling quite full. The beef was medium, rare and not bloody at all. The pastry was flaky yet not dry. And no matter which part of the beef, I ate, every mouthful was the same – juicy, tender, and full of flavour👌🏻 I ordered the apple crumble and it was so good!!! Definitely recommend that! Once again, the service was amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and very helpful. I will certainly return here to try out the rest of the menu soon! 😄

The service is EXCELLENT. For my first time eating here, the food is good for it's value, the portions are filling and the dessert here is absolutely FYE. The second time I ate here was the last day if the inflation menu (they serve affordable and reasonable food for 10$ and it changes everyday) which was delicious. WE GOT FREE DESSERTS TOO. Excited to see the new menu! I will definitely come back to try other things. They do serve Chinese food too if you do not enjoy English food. I'd recommend this place for a special date or hangouts.

We recently dined at The English House, a restaurant that offers a unique mix of Western and Chinese cuisine, including a Chinese dim sum set. We ordered the beef cheek, dim sum, black cod, and steak. While the food was good, it didn’t quite reach the level of excellence we were expecting. However, the staff service was exceptional—attentive and professional throughout the evening. One of our dishes arrived quite late, but the staff handled it well, openly admitting the oversight and offering a sincere apology. To make up for it, they treated us to their special puddings, and we were pleasantly surprised. The apple crumble and tiramisu were both outstanding—definitely a highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try their signature dishes like the Beef Wellington or London duck, but that gives us a reason to return. The English House is definitely worth another visit, and we’ll be sure to try those next time!

Amazing food and some of the best service I've ever experienced (especially for the price). The place also had very interesting decorations. The fish and chips (had the halibut) was great and will definitely be back for the cod. The pork cheek was tender and fragrant. We also loved the rojak (the sauce was great but there was no you tiao). The chocolate mousse was also great and not too sweet.

We recently celebrated our son’s 17th birthday at The English House yesterday, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes and immediately captivated by the stunning decor – every corner had something unique and beautiful to admire. The food was nothing short of spectacular. We indulged in a feast that included crispy pork, prawn paste toast, the crispiest Peking London duck, and a juicy steak that was cooked to perfection. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and the quality was outstanding. What really made the night special was the impeccable service. The staff were incredibly attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. Jack, in particular, went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable, adding a personal touch to our celebration. The service was super fast, yet the attention to detail was never compromised. The ambience was wonderfully cosy – the perfect blend of elegance and comfort. It felt intimate yet lively, creating the ideal atmosphere for a memorable evening. If you’re looking for a place with fine cuisine, excellent service, and a one-of-a-kind atmosphere, The English House is a must-try! We can’t wait to return!

Lovely experience. Menu is a little confusing, though staff are very helpful. The soundtrack was a little discordant. Sunday roast chicken some of the best I've ever had, potatoes were average. Worth one visit for the decor if nothing else but I'm not sure the food was worth MPW's initials

*Exceptional Dining Experience at The English House!* I recently had the pleasure of dining at The English House with a friend, and we were both blown away by the exceptional service and outstanding cuisine! Our server, Ms. Jenny, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made our experience truly special. We opted for two different sets ($78++ and another option) to share a variety of dishes. The highlight of my set was the mouth-watering Wagyu fillet of beef, cooked to perfection at medium rare. The roast English Duck was also incredibly delicious! Unfortunately, we didn't get to try their signature Beef Wellington this time, as my friend doesn't eat beef, but it's definitely on my list for next time. What truly impressed us was the stunning decor of the restaurant - every detail, even the toilets, was beautifully designed and maintained. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. We will definitely return to try more dishes, including the Beef Wellington, and to enjoy the excellent service and ambiance again. A huge thank you to Ms. Jenny for her wonderful service! *Highly Recommended!*

We made a reservation at The English House to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and the restaurant did not disappoint. Walking in was an experience in itself, with its charming vintage decor and welcoming atmosphere setting the perfect tone for the evening. The staff were attentive and friendly, taking care of every detail and sharing their personal recommendations, which made ordering a breeze. We really enjoyed the tasting set menu, especially the unique twist on Western dishes, with the addition of Roast english duck done in Peking style. Overall, The English House delivered a fantastic dining experience with excellent food and top-notch service. Highly recommended for any special celebration!

Yelp
This is the place for a true English feast. Fish and chips here are my go-to: beer battered cod wrapped in newspaper, properly English thick-cut chips (not thin French fries!), tartar sauce, and mushy peas. The accoutrements, including the tartar sauce, are homemade, which I appreciate. The slow braised ox cheek on the recession-busting menu (more on that later) is also excellent. Tender, melt-in-your-mouth, served with a side of mash and steamed veggies. I love the rotating daily "Recession Busting" menu item for S$9.99. The English House is one of the few restaurants offering a choice to guests to save, in thanks for their patronage. More beautiful words have not been said: "We are heading South instead of North." The interior reeks of a charming antique shop -- the restaurant is adorned with various sculptures of past and present, Eastern and Western. It's a lovely atmosphere that I haven't quite found anywhere else.

Yelp
The restaurant is situated in a lovely shophouse on Md Sultan Road, and is one of the most interesting restaurant interiors in Singapore. Each room has its own theme and it definitely transports you to an old English pub. They have an extensive menu (even have Dim Sums which may be a throwback to HK being an english colony earlier). We had heard good things about the fish and chips here so that was our main interest. I think it was a case of having too much expectation. The fish wasn't crispy nor was it well seasoned. The chips as well didn't have that nice fresh crunch. For the price, I felt that the quality and quantity should have been better. The starters were good though. As were the drinks. Just wish the fish and chips, being such a quintessential british dish was executed better.

Yelp
I was invited to The English House for breakfast, an English breakfast, of course. The breakfast menu is quite extensive - ranging from the traditional English breakfast, crumpets, porridge oats to smoked haddock, though black pudding is not on the list. The toasts were done with the right crisp and brown, and needed no more than a generous spread of their home-made butter. I could be happy with just toasts and coffee but I had to try their poached egg on crushed avocado with coriander on toast, with bacon on the side. The poached egg, with a dark yellow liquid centre oozing down when cut was just delicious. The coriander was not too strong and the touch of sprinkled salt on the plate was just right. A delightful choice if one does not want a heavy breakfast. The English House is an excellent place for a meal with friends or work meetings. Though there were quite a number of patrons for an early morning Sunday meal, it has a comfortable ambience that encourages conversations. Also, an excellent service from the staff. I will be back for their lunch or dinner the next time. It's easy to miss The English House along Mohd Sultan Road but look out for the lush green entrance courtyard along the row of shophouses. .

Yelp
Very nice ambience and decoration, good service by friendly staffs. Ordered fish and chips since it is English House, but it was just so so. The wedges were dried and tasteless, thanks to the refreshing tartar and chili sauce, I finished the cod fish... My colleague ordered the Singapore spicy fry noodle with pork cheek. She let me tried abit of it, it was basically a sweet sauce fry koey teow (Singapore local fried flat noodle). Nothing impressive about the food, but I enjoyed the ambience very much. Hmm.. Maybe just a visit for eye opening, hard to get me go back again.

Yelp
I had the Cod Fish and Chip for lunch and fit was delicious. Triple cooking for chips is a great idea and well executed at this place. Also, the place is very interesting, would love to go back there for drinks, it reminds me of the places I enjoyed going to in London and Paris (Home House, Bob Bob Ricard, Beef Club, etc)
