"The new Magnificent Mile restaurant from the owners of Wildberry Cafe and Forno Rosso aims to give tourists a real taste of Chicago’s culinary power. Enjoy some great people watching from the sizeable second floor space while digging into a prime rib benedict with shaved black truffle or fried chicken and biscuits with sage and bacon gravy, and sipping a bloody mary or espresso martini. The Evie is a gem for cocktail enthusiasts and seafood lovers alike. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was inviting, setting the stage for a delightful dining experience. We started with their cocktails, and I must say, they were exceptional. The flavors were well-balanced, and each sip was a testament to the bartender's skill and creativity. Moving on to the food, the clam and mussel dishes were a highlight. They were cooked to perfection, with a burst of freshness in every bite. The seafood was complemented by flavorful sauces that elevated the overall dish. The steak and fish were also noteworthy. Both were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with a depth of flavor that showcased the quality of ingredients and the chef's expertise. Throughout the meal, the service was attentive and friendly. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations, enhancing our dining experience. In conclusion, The Evie delivers on all fronts – from great cocktails to delicious seafood and meats, all served with excellent service. It's a place worth visiting for a memorable dining experience.

Great service from the moment we walked in. Made reservations for a Sunday evening dinner and loved the vibe. Light music, sat by the window looking out to watch the energy of Magnificent Mile. The bread is all made in house, WOW. Don’t miss out on the bread and butter appetizer. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. Very delicious. The salmon was excellent and served well with sticky rice. The dessert stole the show!! We had the brownie sundae and it was superb. I would return for the dessert alone.

Let’s just say, you had me at the decor and ambience! Beautiful location, I love that the owners named the restaurant after their daughter’s nickname, awesome fun fact given by our super attentive waiter Brady! Sat at the bar until my table was ready, and with it being my first time at this restaurant I was full of questions. Andy gave great recommendations the Shrimp Rangoon Role and the Mag Mile Roll, I ordered both, mouth watering. Literally, my mouth is watering as I type this review, lol! Andy also found my table and brought over the best complimentary lavender lemonade I’ve tasted thus far, thanks Andy 😉. Now for the desert, I’d like to have it right now for breakfast, lol. I ordered the Homemade Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce. THE BEST “cheat” desert ever, I have not one regret about this dish, it was superb. Again, beautiful atmosphere, food, and most of all outstanding customer attentiveness. I will be returning my next visit to the “CHI”! Love Chris 🫶🏽

Great all around! The service was excellent, the food was excellent and the price was excellent. Wish we lived in Chicago and could come here often. We eat fairly often at fine dining restaurants around my girlfriend who loves fish, told me their lake superior fish was one of the best ones she had in ages.

Another new restaurant for me, overall a disappointment. The cornbread was good and the little gem cesare excellent. The lobster roll was far too salty to eat. The bread was the consistency of a hot dog bun and meat over-seasoned. The clarified butter was a nice touch, but I suspect it was a salted butter and therefore just racheted up the salt. I'll probably be drinking excessive amounts of water all day.

Paige was a wonderful server! This was the first time visiting for a few of us and she let us know The Evie is known for their sushi rolls and bread which two of us got sushi and two of us got sandwiches (with in-house baked buns). I started with the Lerinade that was SO good, my only disappointment was it was mostly ice. Others ordered a lemonade (which she enjoyed), a Hemingway Daiquiri (she said it was amazing), a and a San Pellegrino. I had the vegi maki roll and I see why sushi is so well liked here, it was delicious! My friend who had the Osaka style pressed sushi enjoyed it immensely, and the two crispy fresh fish sandwiches were so big they both took half of theirs home. We all got to enjoy the fries, I love they were fresh cut! The table shared a very generous key lime pie and brownie sundae (not pictured). Beautiful ambiance and very friendly hostesses and servers. It was a lovely after work dinner and cocktails with friends 💕

Very nice ambiance... Drinks were great! Our waitress Shai was cool... really like her and the young hostess and young host at the first desk. Food variety could be better but the crab cake was so good!

We walked in here on a Sunday afternoon finally deciding to try this place out - turns out it was fantastic. We wanted to have a midafternoon snack and decided to try the Wagyu Hot Dog and Mussels/Clams. We quickly realized that not only the food was excellent, but the service was also a step above. The staff were all very friendly and helpful but our server Jack stood out. He was funny, kind, and very helpful. In the end we tried the sushi and ordered some cocktails as well. Everything was really good, the Hamachi roll stood out as the fish was really packed in densely. We’ll definitely be back, thanks Evie!

Yelp
I didn't have a reservation but I came in alone on a Tuesday night at 6:30. They were very nice about getting me a seat. The ambiance was modern and trendy but not stuffy. You could tell a lot of people come in more casual from work or shopping. It has a wall of windows overlooking the mag mile which is nice. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the cougar bait which was refreshing and delicious though a little small. It went down TOO easy. I asked the waitress for recommendations on sushi and she recommended the ones I was already considering. I got the mag mile and the crispy jalapeño rolls. Both were very good. Pretty spicy but delicious. I was surprised how quickly the food came. It felt like less than 10 minutes. I definitely would come back here. I really enjoyed it.

Yelp
Saw signage on the sidewalk of the Mag Mile and immediately curious, so up the narrow escalator into Evie. It's nice to see it's not a chain anymore. It was a much more welcoming upscale ambiance than I expected and the vibe was your suit jacket corporate types having business discussions around the bar and nearby tables. Lighting was fairly dim and background clanking coming from the open kitchen mixed with jazz music overhead. I was promptly greeted at the bar and offered water and menu. I wasn't all too hungry but was up for a late afternoon appetizer/snack stop. I wrongly assumed this was going to be American fare food, but it was all over (that's good if you really don't know what you want) - the friendly bartendress raved about the sushi rolls and I was intrigued! Strangely Chicago doesn't have many good quality sushi spots in the downtown vicinity. So I'm here to say Evie's sushi was beautifully prepared, fresh and so delicious! Price point is $22-$28 per order which seems high but considering the location, it's to be expected. Guessing most guests are floating their corporate Amex to settle the tab. The other bartender said "save room for dessert, our Millionaire Ice Cream is divine", he then said that on your birthday month you can come in to get a complimentary scoop.... Well hot damn! I'm glad I know now because I feel like it was offered to me but when I said I just had a birthday, he said "happy birthday m'aam" but no Millionaire Ice Cream was served. Boo-hiss! I appreciated the attentiveness and friendliness of the bar staff and how calm the energy is in contrast to the hustle and bustle of Michigan Avenue. Also, apparently there's a happy hour during the week, but it wasn't offered this Wednesday.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night at 8 pm. Loved the ambience. If you like dimly lit; restaurants, you'll like this place. Our server, Charlie was fantastic. One might think this restaurant's menu is having a bit of an identity crisis (as you'll see by what we ordered) but I just think of it as there's surely something for everyone in your party. Greek Tavern Salad: fresh, nice big chunk of feta. Exactly what I want in a Greek salad. Chicago Style Hot Dog: an elevated hot dog. The dog was thick and flavorful. House made brioche bun was soft. Came with fries. Crab Rangoon roll: so much filling and super flavorful. Loved it. Bread with herb garlic butter: so buttery, soft, toasty. Garlic butter was delish. I could've eaten this entire thing myself.

David W.

Yelp
The Evie was good. The ambience was great and the service was above average. We had the server, the manager, the assistant manager, etc serving our table of two. The food was ok. We really enjoyed the sushi. The food menu did not have too many choices which was somewhat disappointing. But we enjoyed our time there. I would go back with sushi in mind.

Yelp
I came in here to experience the ghost of Bandera. What was the rotisserie chicken wall, is now a sushi bar! Not better or worse, just different! I sort of like that it's tucked away, and small and intimate. This review is for the bar area only, we didn't order food. The concrete bar is gone (it was looking just a wee bit shabby after all those years) replaced with a very nice slab of wood. General layout is the same, kitchen is still awesome looking, with the chefs working very hard as usual. The restaurant itself is lightened up a bit - more white walls, and weird metallic art. Okay, so drinks time. Have we hit peak cocktail yet? I mean . . . $21 for a Mag Mile martini (Bandera was notorious for their fantastic martinis) that is less than HALF the size of the previous establishment? $21?! So, two people quaffing the customary two cocktails is $84, and we're not even up to any food yet. I know it's the Mag Mile, and this is an expense account restaurant now. *sigh* I'm not one to cheap out on food or drinks, but this is just a little bit outrageous. I'm not sure I'll be back soon. I can afford these prices, I just don't want to pay them. That Happy Hour looks great, though! Bathrooms are identical - they were stylish and clean then, and nothing has changed. The servers were just fantastic, friendly and good looking. They made our visit really enjoyable.

Yelp
We tried this brunch place on our quick weekend in Chicago. The drinks were delicious, and the food was pretty good, but not really worth the price. Yes, brunch can be quite expensive, but there was nothing really special about this spot that made it worth the price. However, there is a nice view and you can people watch easily. The servers were very nice, but the service can be quite slow on a busy weekend brunch date.

Yelp
First time at The Evie in Chicago and I was looking forward to it because the menu looked really good. Our experience started rocky because it took us almost 30 minutes to be seated when we arrived extremely punctual to our reservation. Regardless of the rocky start, when we were seated everything fell into place. Our waiter, Jack, was very nice and attentive and made our experience an eventful one. In terms of the food and drinks, I think the food and cocktails were very good. For an appetizer, we had the Spinach and artichoke dip which was a 7/10. For my entree, I had the steak frites which was an 8/10. The steak was cooked very well to my liking, and the fries were crispy. We all also shared the spicy tuna rolls which were excellent! An easy 9/10. For my cocktail, I had the Pama-ade which was delicious! A 10/10! Lastly, I believe there was a good ambiance to The Evie. It was very cozy but a place you could dress up for, or walk in for dinner after a long day of shopping. Overall, I had a great experience and it is a restaurant I would recommend, especially for big groups because the menu is extensive.

Heather M.

Yelp
Came with colleagues for a business dinner. We had amazing cocktails, appetizers, and meals. Strongly suggest the Smoking Pistola. Our sushi rolls were amazing. My favorite was the Red Dragon. I had the lobster roll for dinner and could only eat half. It was excellent. My friend got the key lime pie. We all had a taste. It was divine. Service was exceptional, and the entire experience was great. Loved the low light and feel of the restaurant. It was intimate and lovely in every way.

Yelp
Had a spectacular reunion of old friends from Belgium, Japan, Mexico, Florida and Chicago. From the Hostess to awesome professional Server, Paige, we had a great service experience and delicious food (sushi and Thai salad, salmon, etc.). Drinks prepared just right per instructions. Delightful ambiance overlooking Michigan Avenue. Awesome experience. Thanks Paige

Yelp
Went to The Evie last night for dinner and had an excellent experience from start to finish. We made our reservation easily using the Yelp app, we're seated immediately when we arrived, and started our dinner with excellent cocktails. I had the tequila cocktail and it was interesting and absolutely delicious. We had a party of 5, so between all of us we had the steak frites, a burger, the salmon, and sushi. Everything was delicious! I had the steak and it was tender, well seasoned, well cooked, and exactly what I wanted. I also tried the salmon and it was as good as my steak! Food truly was a 10/10! Our server, Nancy, was also great! She was prompt, friendly, joked around with our group, and made our overall experience that much better. She helped us choose drinks that we loved, and helped us navigate our orders to make sure we'd get everything as we liked it. She was professional and fun, the best combo. Finally, overall the restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. The atmosphere was perfect for us, it felt like a nice restaurant without being stuffy. Next time we're in Chicago we'll be sure to visit again!

Yelp
What a wonderful experience, I consider this to be a dining event . You don't come here to just eat , you come here to experience a food extravaganza. Great job Evie It was our wedding day and you exceeded expectations

Clara S.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant & friendly service! We came on a Wednesday evening, no reservation but we were seated immediately and they were already busy! The holiday season was alive with holiday parties and customers all dressed up in festive attire! Our group tried about 6 of their rolls and all were delicious. My favorite being the Mag Mile and Rangoon rolls! I ordered the Crispy Fried Fish sandwich for my entree before realizing all the rolls were more than enough for dinner. The fish was tender with a crispy shell and the coleslaw and pickles added a nice crunchy and balance to the fish. The fries were DELICIOUS & well seasoned. The art and decor of the restaurant also had a nice dark vibe. I look forward to coming back & trying different dishes next time.

Yelp
I was a big fan of the restaurant (Bandera) that used to be in this space so when I chose The Evie for dinner on a recent trip to Chicago, it had a big hurdle to overcome. And you know what? It hit the bar and then some. At my visit, The Evie had only been open for about a month and I hadn't heard anything about it yet so we were on an adventure. I had a friend meet me there and we were both impressed by the food, the level of service and, of course, it still has those great views up and down Michigan Ave. What I liked about the menu is that is has a wide range- certain to please everyone in your group from steaks and sushi to salads and entrees. We started with the bread. Honestly, these warm baguettes with the garlic butter were well worth the $6 that they charge. My friend seemed to think that the bread was complimentary (it's not) and he kept ordering more! Made me laugh but I guess he was starving! For my entree, I had the red dragon roll, and my friend had the ribeye. Both were terrific and we split a spicy tuna roll just to see how it stacked up to our favorite sushi place and it was a winner! Know that this place, while it looks casual, is serving up some great food at fine dining prices. That ribeye that my friend had was $88 and each sushi roll was about $25 so know before you go that you are going to be spending Mich Ave prices at The Evie. The drinks were well poured and the restaurant even brought out a complimentary dessert when I told them I was celebrating an early retirement. I always think this place is a little hidden as it is up one level from street level so you take an escalator up to the 2nd floor. Use the address and you will not have a problem finding it. They also do a great job with take out as I also used them for that during my recent visit. All in all a great addition to this stretch of Michigan Ave. I'll definitely be back!

Madison C.

Yelp
Came here for an afternoon lunch. The Evie Salad was delicious and so was the fresh bread. Our server disappeared after we got our entrees. We were supposed to get dessert with the corporate lunch special, but the server just didn't fire the dish. When she finally came back around 40 minutes after we had been served our entrees it took about another 10 minutes to get our key lime pie to go. She never acknowledged disappearing, apologized for the slowness of service, or tried to make up for absent service in anyway which was disappointing. Overall, a decent place but the service experience makes me very hesitant to want to return.

Elle Z.

Yelp
I ain't playin'. The Signature Sushi rolls are without a doubt the best. Lerin took my to-go order. She was diligent to make sure I was allergy safe! Amazing!! The Evie, I hope you appreciate excellent staff members. She was kind and incredibly friendly! Thanks for making sure my allergens were not in the sushi, Lerin! Grabbed my sushi order and practically ran home so I could enjoy these beautiful creations. And, as always, the sushi game at The Evie is definitely tremendous. Hey, FYI, I also posted a photo of their Happy Hour menu too. M-F 3 to 6 pm. I am gonna have to stop in for these awesome specials. Sushi lovers... I highly recommend The Evie for their Signature Sushi.

Amelia N.

Yelp
I was visiting from California with some friends. We came across this restaurant on Yelp. So far Yelp has not let me down. I search for 4-6 stars only. I have to say I was very impressed with this place. From the service to the ambience and of course the food. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious and the salsa added a nice little kick. The pork chop was tender and juicy. Oh and don't forget the mashed potatoes, I don t recall the fancy name for them but they were the best potatoes I ever had. If you're in the mood for sushi, try the magnificent mile roll, you won't be disappointed. We ended our meal with the pistachio gelato with candied pecans. It was to die for. If I'm ever Chicago again, I'll definitely be making a stop here.

Gino W.

Yelp
Years ago, Bandera was in this location. I see that The Evie is the replacement restaurant. I stopped in one evening after work for a quick sampling from the menu. I ordered two signature maki rolls. One was a dragon roll. The other was crispy jalapeño with hamachi. I must admit that they nailed the maki rolls. Great flavor and no rubbery texture, which was all the indication I needed to speak to how fresh it was. I paired both with cold sake. I noted the non-sushi menu items for if I return at a later date. I am curious as to their other offerings.

Sonam P.

Yelp
Came here with coworkers after some research. I was not disappointed. They look very new and the ambiance is nice and cozy and upscale but I think the prices are very reasonable for what you get. I chose the daily special which was scallops and they did not disappoint. He said they are large scallops and they sure weee. Very filling and the spinach risotto was different and paired so well. My coworkers got the salmon and burger and Osaka style roll which they really enjoyed as well. I had a jalapeño cocktail that was delicious. I wish it was a bit spicier. We had grilled artichokes and spinach/artichoke dip to start off and they did not disappoint. The grilled artichoke hearts could have been cooked a little less so that you get some actual meat vs it being print but it was still very tasty. The waiter was very attentive and the manager came by to welcome us which was nice. I will be back here again.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Visited with colleagues on a Wednesday. All staff members were friendly and welcoming, restaurant is cozy. We sat by the door and didn't walk around, bathroom was clean. I had a pear down cocktail and it was presented as 'fall' but I would think it the flavor for more spring time. We got the fresh baked bread and it was very good! My entre was salmon, came with sticky rice and bok choy. The food was delicious but not filling. I would also not say the value is there for the price. Would go back if someone wanted to, but I would not suggest a return visit.

Fit C.

Yelp
We went for Saturday brunch and I am shocked that it wasn't packed. The ambiance is spectacular and the restrooms are clean. I had the breakfast sandwich and it did not disappoint. My partner had the sushi and said it was scrumptious. Excellent view of Michigan ave too.

Creed W.

Yelp
This used to be the Bandelero? Restaurant 10 years or so ago. Great ambience right on Michigan Ave. Great service. Great place to go for a glass/bottle of wine and their Grilled CA Artichoke appetizer. That being said, our artichoke had a bit too much oil on it. Flavor and remoulade were great. My hubby had the "Mag Mile Sushi roll". He liked it, but nothing special. I had the "Chili Glazed Salmon". No one asked me how I liked it cooked. It came out cooked medium, which was a bit dry. They did drench it in sweet chili sauce. It was too much, and WAY too sweet. I didn't finish it. There wasn't much bok choy, but the little salad on top was nice. Sticky rice on the side. So, while we were not impressed with our entrees, we will be back again for the artichoke and some wine next time we need a munchie on Michigan.

Gregg H.

Yelp
Great food and fantastic drinks. Really cool lounge style bar downtown. Great location for shopping or just hopping bars!

Edward B.

Yelp
The Evie was good from start to finish. The ambiance was welcoming and the background music was lively. Food was superb. We enjoyed the spinach dip, a veggie burger and the Steak Frites. The veggie burger seemed to be house made with great flavors. The steak was well seasoned and the sides were flavorful. Great mid week date night spot on the mag mile!

Zachary B.

Yelp
This place was so good we went twice on our trip. It's not the fanciest of places, but the food is straightforward and great. Drinks were very well made and the service was warm. The spinach artichoke dip (and specifically the salsa that came with) were the show stoppers

Sarah A.

Yelp
I had seen this place on Yelp and it was close by at the heart of Michigan Ave. Interestingly, this restaurant is under the same management as the amazing brunch spot Wildberry. So why not try it? My friends and I unknowingly went on the day it opened. The place of course looked brand new and fancy with a beautiful ambiance. There's also plenty of seating. It's definitely a great spot for a date (maybe not a first date tho lol). Nancy did an absolutely wonderful job helping us--very honest, personable, and professional. Highly recommend requesting her! Nancy recommended dishes to us, and we ended up deciding on spinach dip and a few sushi rolls. The spinach dip was warm, cheesy, and flavorful paired with light sour cream and pico de gallo--what a great idea to balance the richness! When we ran out of chips for the dip, Nancy graciously brought over some more! The sushi was super fresh, and each roll was unique. I really enjoyed the Mag Mile roll, especially because of the chili oil on top. Overall it was a light, enjoyable meal but a tad expensive for what you get.

Deanca C.

Yelp
The service was not the best. I suggest sitting at the bar not at a table. I came in a little bit before my group and had a great experience with the bartenders. Once I sat with my group it wasn't the best experience. We ordered some apps and were not able to finish them but instead of offering to bring boxes to go they throw away the food. I did ask them why and I was just told sorry.... while they proceeded to do it again. That blew my mind!

Danielle M.

Yelp
We spent our New Year's Eve here for brunch, the sushi was good! The drinks were good. Ambiance was clean, simple and cute. Server was friendly and helpful. Nothing too memorable but definitely not a negative experience. Not sure if we will return here. The Man said his short rib breakfast sandwich (not pictured) was ok but he loved the sushi roll he picked out. We had the Red Dragon Roll and Shrimp Rangoon Roll.

Nolan F.

Yelp
Full disclosure: this review is based on a family and friends event. I don't know any of the chefs or owner personally. The restaurant was packed. Our table tried many items: 1. Greek Tavern Salad - tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, kalamata olives, imported feta cheese & greek evoo 2. Thai Salad - fresh mango, tomatoes, avocado, bok choy, roasted peanuts, thai noodles & spicy thai dressing 3. Tuscan Kale Salad - peanut vinaigrette, cabot cheddar, watermelon radish, fresh herbs, grapefruit & orange Appetizers: 4. House Smoked Faroe Island Salmon 5. California Grilled Artichokes 6. Spinach & Artichoke Dip 7. Lavendar Lemonade - gin, lavender cordial, lemon 8. Homemade Bread Pudding - salted caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream Sushi Rolls: 9. Crispy Jalapeno & Hamachi Roll - yellowtail, no. 1 ahi tuna, unagi sauce & sweet chili mayo 10. Mag Mile Roll - no. 1 ahi tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado, sweet potato, crunchy garlic & chili oil. Entrees: 11. Herb Roasted Half Chicken 12. Chili Honey Glazed Salmon 13. Steak Frites Loved the portions of everything. That's their biggest strength. Reasonably priced for big portions of good quality food (for the most part). We enjoyed pretty much everything listed above including sushi rolls which I was initially hesitant about in an American restaurant. Only weaknesses were the entrees. Steak wasn't ideal medium rare. Chicken and steak lacked seasoning. Service was excellent. They constantly checked on our table, cleaned it, and packed our leftovers. I would've liked more lighting throughout the restaurant.

Andrew Z.

Yelp
Service was excellent: we made a reservation for 5 people and they were able to accommodate an extra person on short notice. Our server was delightful and very attentive, making sure everyone felt welcome and fed. We had a round table in the corner near the window, which was a great view of Michigan Avenue, and a nice spot amongst a fairly busy and moderately loud restaurant. Unfortunately, two of my colleagues came down with severe food poisoning that night, and they were the only two to eat the salmon entree that evening. We informed the restaurant and they did not have any other reports and offered to look into it, but I would not advise ordering the salmon. One of my colleagues had to be taken to the ER and treated for 36 hours. I had a number of sushi pieces which were excellent, though quite pricey for a single roll ($20+).

Shirley D.

Yelp
Last night I had the honor of eating here during their Friends and Family preview week (official/grand opening is scheduled for Thursday 7/20). The place is gorg and vibey, cocktails were delish, and the food wasn't bad at all. We started with the dip and the clams; I ordered the kale salad, which was good, except for the fact that the peanut vinegarette was a bit heavy on the peanut for me. The salmon was delish, and lastly, the bread pudding was a must get (if this is your dessert of preference). Overall, the service was pretty good; everyone was super attentive. I would def go back to sit at the bar, have a few cocktails, and try their sushi.

Bryn S.

Yelp
Got the filet minon and sushi rolls. I do feel like the sushi rolls were a little fishy. Filet minon was phenomenal, a little too chared but the inside was so good. I REALLY wanted to try the baked alaska but they were sold out of it ):. I did try the ice cream with cookies in it, it was really good. Had a crunch to it and some carmel. Definitely good vibe resturant.

Yelp
After attending their grand opening, and visiting several other times, The Evie consistently impresses. Ascending the escalator feels great. Walking in, the room is stunning. Dark, warm colors, big windows along Michigan Avenue, open kitchen and large bar create an inviting welcome. The owners and staff were fantastic. Everyone was friendly and gracious. Our server on each occasion was knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to our needs. The cuisine is an interesting mix sushi and classic Americana. Their maki rolls were delicious and the burger is hearty and delicious. I am so happy The Evie has opened. It is perfect for visitors to the city, and is great after sightseeing or shopping. Locals will appreciate it as well.

Leang E.

Yelp
So I have already been here a couple of times now as the first time was pretty fantastic that we came back. I think the restaurant has filled in for former spot of Bandera very nicely. The first time I got the Mag mole roll, Market fish, and spicy broccolini. The second time I also gotten the Market fish but it was a different type of fish with another kind of sauce but also very tasty. I also fit in a the tres leches the second time and that was pretty good. We also had different servers and they were very memorable too. The second time we went it was the server's first day and he did a great job. It wasn't his fault that they included the special sauce in the burger that my husband did not want and had to get a new order in, but it was nice that he did get another one. The prices are reasonable and it makes for a great place to dine after some shopping along the street.

Allegra A.

Yelp
I can only speak to their happy hour but it's a great deal! They have a variety of drinks for reasonable prices and during happy hour they provide free spinach dip which was delicious! My group popped in here for a quick drink before dinner on a Wednesday night, and while we couldn't find enough seats around the bar for all of us, there was plenty of standing room. So it does get busy in the bar area for happy hour. The bartender was friendly and attentive.

M I.

Yelp
Evie burger was delicious. It was feeling and required no ketchup or condiments. The ambience was also great. Also ordered dirty tequila martini which were done to perfection.

Karen E.

Yelp
Great location and such an escape from the busyness of Michigan Avenue. Wine list is nice as well as the cocktails. This artichoke appetizer is delicious.

Craig H.

Yelp
We were disappointed to hear that Bandera had closed. It was the restaurant in this space until COVID took it out. This new restaurant keeps a lot of the familiar feel of Bandera. Bar, seating , etc are all still there. The house music is right on point and the courtesy of the staff is to be commended. We had the Mag Mike roll, made up of Aji tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado, sweet potato, potato, and topped with a crunchy garlic and chili oil. All of the flavors and the fish go well together. All of the fish is very fresh and each bite is almost too much. However, it all comes together and into one of the best roles I've ever had. make sure you start with this when you come here. And you should come here. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Food was amazing-- would highly recommend the bread and cornbread appetizers. I had sushi and it was okay, the spicy tuna was way too spicy for me personally. My boyfriend and grandpa got the filet and it was heavenly. Atmosphere was amazing!

Yelp
From start to finish, our experience was excellent. Our server was attentive without being annoying. The large square ice cube in my husband's Negroni was crystal clear. My Pear Down drink was spot on and the dried pear garnish was also tasty! We had three sushi rolls, the magnificent mile, volcano and shrimp rangoon, and they were all artfully done and delicious. My son insisted that the shrimp rangoon roll was the best roll he ever tasted. I had the Steak Frites; which was cooked perfectly, tender and delicious. I've always been afraid to make it at home, for fear it would be tough and tasteless. For dessert, we tried the bananas foster baked Alaska, and it did not disappoint! The presentation was awesome with a slash of rum and set on fire at the table. My younger teenage son is sensitive to noisy venues and found the acoustics perfect for his sensitive ears. We could hear our party easily and the background noise was not bothersome, even though we were seated in the row of booths next to the bar. The ambience was quite enjoyable and pleasing to the eye. The prices were on par with the food. We greatly enjoyed our evening at The Evie and will be back!

Yelp
Excellent service! Probably the best I've experienced in Chicago. The food was also very tasty!! Love the vibe too. The only reason I didn't give a 5th star is because the cocktails were lacking. Regular ice in my old fashioned instead of a block and the espresso martini was very small and lacking flavor. Still, I strongly recommend this place!

Yelp
This place was such a great vibe, we came from California and wanted to get some dinner the first night we were there. The waitress was very attentive. The service was amazing and the food was great. The pours on the wine were insane and big! We appreciated that lol. Steak and fish was cooked to perfection and if we ever come back to Chicago we're definitely going there again. Thank you!

Yelp
I absolutely love Chicago and every time I visit, I am sure to bring my appetite because Chicago definitely has some of the best restaurants in the United States. Tonight, we visited The Evie, and can I say, I am absolutely in love with this restaurant. I researched a ton of restaurants in the vicinity of our hotel and settled on this gem. I was not ready for the ambiance. Upon entry, we walked into a semi dark restaurant. The decor was classy and elegant. We did not have reservations, but once we entered and asked for a table, the manager found a table for us instantly. We were so thrilled. We were seated promptly, and Alyssa (our waitress), greeted us. My hubby started with the bread and butter. He stated that it was delicious 5/5. We ordered a cocktail. I had the Mag Mile martini and my hubby ordered the old fashioned. OMG, the drinks were so strong but delicious. I ordered the cornbread with butter. It was phenomenal, easily a 5/5. Next we ordered our entrees. I had the salmon with bok choy and rice. My hubby ordered the chicken sandwich with fries. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the sweet and sour sauce enhanced it perfectly. The baby bok choy was cooked well, and so was the rice. This dish earned a 5/5 (I cleaned my plate and wanted to secretly lick it ). My hubby stated that his sandwich was delightful, and the fries were good too - 5/5. Finally, we wanted dessert. We were stuffed, but the food was so good that we just had to finish off the night with dessert. I ordered the caramel bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and my hubby ordered the baked Alaska. Again, both desserts were outstanding. This is my new favorite restaurant in Chicago, hands down. Alyssa's customer service was outstanding. She went above and beyond to satisfy our questions, and she recommended some great options. She receives a 5/5 as well. Please give her a shoutout. She really did a fantastic job tonight. The manager who worked the front of the house, and the entire restaurant on 9/28/2023 was excellent as well. Kuddos to him. He worked extremely hard to ensure that everyone was taken care of and happy. He was the bald guy, clean shaven, and wore a grey blazer. I wanted to get his name but he disappeared before I could. The Evie earns a well respected 5/5, and has earned a new loyal customer. Keep up the great work everyone at the Evie. You earned this 5/5 rating. I highly recommend this establishment if you are looking for a low-key, but nice restaurant with excellent food and splendid customer service. The Evie will not disappoint you.

Yelp
Had a great time at the evie! Had a spicy tuna roll, and enjoyed their cocktail menu. Ambiance is nice and service was friendly and accommodating. Sat in a booth and enjoyed the view of the restaurant space. Would recommend checking out.

Yelp
First off the food was really good and taste as well as the drinks, don't get me wrong. We ordered the Wagyu hotdog, trout, mussels and clams for starters the volcano roll, and a couple Of drinks, in which all of them were great. The only reason why I gave this place 3 stars is because we had reservations for 8:30 on a Saturday, but to be honest we were 7 mins late, but had to wait around 25 mins to be seated. I think I just expected more from this new establishment since it is downtown and had great reviews. But I don't think having people wait for more than 15 mins if you have a reserved table is acceptable. They were not even apologetic about it. Our server was great though, she came checking up on us frequently. Would I come back here, I dunno maybe?

Yelp
If you're a big fan or Artichokes and/or Lobster Rolls....sprint, don't walk here! Literally, my two favorite foods and they NAILED both of them. I came with my boyfriend for lunch, we had no reservations but they were able to seat us right away. They sat us next to their large windows facing Mag Mile (which was lovely). Our server Marvin was very kind and knowledgeable. The decor was elegant but not over the top, where I felt out of place in my casual attire. Great hip/chill lunch music that suited the vibe, and the food was EXCELLENT.... We had: - Grilled Artichokes: A MUST if you like Artichokes. Honestly, my new favorite in the city! The aioli was fantastic. My boyfriend typically isn't a fan of artichokes but enjoyed these. - Lobster Roll: Great if you like Connecticut style (warm with Old Bay seasoning & melted butter). They make their brioche buns in-house, which are mush larger than your typical bun you'd have with a Lobster roll. - Spicy Broccolini: Excellent side choice. You can easily split this with someone. It's not over the top spicy, and it had great crunchy texture. - Pommel Purée: SO good! It's basically silky smooth mashed potatoes. Also, a very large portion. - Hand Cut Fries: They were just OK...nothing special. I would definitely try other sides over these.

Yelp
Great food, fun atmosphere with a great view of magnificent mile, and good service, cant ask for much more than that! Started off with the grilled artichoke. They had a great buttery sauce and were perfectly seasoned. You get a good amount here as well. These are a winner, while messy to eat I would get them again. The steak frites came out perfect cooked, the fries are just like McDonald fries and that isnt a dig, they had a good amount of salt on them and the sauce that comes with them was also wonderful. The jus that comes with the steak was sooooo flavorful. I would get this 100 times over again. It was that good. We also got the chili honey glazed salmon and it was equally as delicious. Perfectly cooked so it had a crispy exterior but a flaky, moist interior that literally fell apart as you cut into it. In addition the flavor when you combine it with the herbs, jalapeños and sticky rice, it was the perfect bite. Honorable mention goes to the iced tea, it was also excellent. I saw a few of the sushi rolls and they looked amazing and will need to be on the list for the next visit.

Yelp
Full disclosure, I know the owner. And full disclosure...he knows how to do a restaurant RIGHT. We went to the soft opening and had a FANTASTIC time. The space retained a little of the Bandera charm BUT it's new, it's sleek, it's inviting, it's fantastic. I would describe as global, eclectic, yet modern?! It's beautiful. Plus, the window seats overlook Michigan Ave! Bonus Trey was our server and he knew the menu in and out. He gave us a TON of recommendations and walked us through the menu. Attentive and not annoying. He was an excellent server! To be honest, they have something for EVERYONE. Which truly is great for a restaurant on the Michigan Ave! It's perfect for neighborhood folk, but also tourists! When you first look at the menu, it might seem all over the place...but trust me, it works! We tried the Rangoon shrimp roll. It was DELICIOUS. All the sushi looked amazing....can't wait to go back and try more! House smoked faroe island salmon was great! Definitely a light smoke to it but the bread with the dill style aioli and capers. Yum! Summer Watermelon Salad was a light summer salad. I felt it was missing something but it was still delicious...maybe a little salt?! Crispy Fish sandwich...THIS IS THE STAR OF THE SHOW!!! The house made brioche bun. The fish that was lightly battered and fried. It was SUPER fresh. Likely the best fish sandwich I have ever had. Hand cut fries were perfect The homemade corn bread was excellent as well. The desserts all looked great. We settled in on the bread pudding. DELICIOUS! Loved!

Yelp
I loved every dish I had here at The Evie. The mussels and clams alone are enough food for one person. The Tres leches cake was better than any Spanish grocery store. They have the best server, very professional and made some incredible suggestions. I came here with my family to celebrate my birthday on a Sunday afternoon. I can say that it was the best celebration I have ever had. Ambiance, comfort, good energy, great drinks and a menu that will surprise you. One page of options for any food lover. The service is beyond great. This is where you go to feel warm and cozy in the city and enjoy a ton of flavors. I definitely recommend trying this place. The atmosphere and food were top notch. I will be back with friends and family next time. Thank you!

Yelp
Seriously delicious. Even though it's on Michigan Avenue, step inside and you'll forget that entirely. Food is really spectacular- it's eerily similar to Bandera in many ways and even had some of the same exact dishes! Prices are a bit high especially the wine by the glass.

Yelp
I visited The Evie over the weekend to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is beautiful with a nice view of Michigan Ave. my sisters and I started our dining experience with martinis. I had the Hemingway Daiquiri which was delicious and my sister loved the Espresso Martini. For appetizers we had the Tavern Greek Salad and the Baby Gem Caesar salad. Both salads were large enough to share and were fantastic. We LOVED the salads. For dinner we had the crab cake, Mussels & Clams, Tuna Tartar, Red Dragon Roll, and the Crispy Jalapeño & Hamachi Roll. Literally, everything that came to the table was amazing. The entire dinner from start to finish was delicious. For dessert, I was given the Evie's Millionaire Ice Cream. Words can't describe how delicious this gelato was. I absolutely loved this place and can't wait to go back.
