Los Angeles’s Dolly Llama Opens First Texas Ice Cream and Waffle Shop - Eater Dallas

"The Exchange food hall in AT&T Discovery District downtown is revamping its second-floor offerings. Chef Misti Norris will host an eatery called Stepchild in June and July. The ground floor will see Ichi Ni San rebranded as Ichi, a poke bowl and sushi concept. Birdie, for fried chicken, opens on Monday, May 23, and Easy Slider follows on Wednesday, June 1." - Courtney E. Smith

9 Must Visit Dallas-Fort Worth Food Halls

"This food hall in the AT&T Discovery District in Downtown Dallas is for urban jungle experience enthusiasts. Sit outside munching on lobster rolls from the Dock or a slice from ZaLat Pizza with a fresh cocktail from Hard Shake while marveling at all the selfie-takers in the eye-catching and sometimes surreal exhibits that surround the outdoor lawn. There’s a wealth of stuff to rubberneck at over a mix and match set of metal trays full of food." - Courtney E. Smith

While it's not technically the food hall the area right around there is just like a town square. There's photo op back drops, a grassy area (albeit fake...it IS TX) with cornhole and other games outside and picnic tables. And the giant bigger-than-life screen is a little like Times Square. And the food options inside the town hall are varied and sure to please everyone. The prices aren't insane either. We were there with a group of twelve and there was no problem finding a seat and feeding everyone.

We tried a few places in the food court. The pizza was good but nothing outstanding. Drinks were expensive. The small sliders were OUTSTANDING! The Gouda one was incredible. Homemade chips were perfect! Seafood place was not as good as I thought it would be. The seafood fries were a little soggy. The soup was spicy. Tons of seating, clean restrooms, great atmosphere. Workers there were not as personable as one would have thought.

Google
It was so nice coming to the food exchange hall. There’s plenty of food options and great fast service. There’s plenty of sitting areas inside and outside. They have an upstairs area as well. There’s restrooms and it’s ac units inside. They all accept cash or credit. Take a walk outside and enjoy the scru

Food court food with an upscale twist! Great place to go when the family is divided on what to eat. Hard to find a table, but once you do it's a pleasant experience.

Google
Awesome. Food awesome view, awesome Atmosphere. It's a great place to go. Been away for a while and you want a variety of choices from food to dessert. The coffee shop and the banana nut muffins where to die for I can't wait to go back and order again. They open at 7:00 am

Google
Great spot for various options of food selections! Convenient location for staying in the downtown area! The noodle spot had great bowls, especially with the pork belly! 10/10. My go-to was the Mediterranean place! Their chicken shawarma bowls were delish! So fresh, light, good flavor! 10/10. The pizza place had a long wait each time, but it was definitely worth it! 9/10. Try the churros at the taco spot, so good! 10/10. Mini sliders and tater tots from the burger spot were good! Had good flavor and tots were so crispy, perfect cook! 10/10. The chicken tender spot also had this loaded fries topped with chicken tenders. SO SO good! 10/10. This food hall did not disappoint!

So even though we went on a Thursday afternoon, we were in town for our daughter’s Volleyball tournament, and it would seem that everyone else was there as well. It was pretty crowded and hard to navigate around and see all that was offered. That being said, what we did get was beyond delicious. There are so many restaurants inside, you could spend weeks going everyday and never have to get the same dish. There is something for everyone. Being in the middle of downtown, parking was a little difficult and be ready to walk a couple blocks. There is additional seating upstairs or outside. It’s definitely bustling with activity, and not a good choice for a quiet dinner. The two bars inside were well stocked, but like most places downtown, were a bit pricey. Overall a great place to stop and enjoy the food, drinks and downtown vibe.

Google
We were walking around and found this place. It seems comfortable and we were looking for a dessert, so we choose one of each place. Unfortunately I couldn't find free lactose milk or soy milk to have a capuchino coffe, that what I really wanted. We tryed a crepe and a lemon bar. The crepe was ok, and the lemon bar was extremely sweet. A really bomb of sugar. That's why I give 4 stars. No fee lactose milk and the dessert extremely sweet even my teeth hurt. All other stuff were OK. Very clean and good atmosphere.

Yelp
This is a very nice food hall within the AT&T Discovery District. There are several options for food inside, we chose to order ramen bowls from Oodles Noodles and fried pickles and chicken tenders from Juju's. All food has large portion sizes for a good price. We were pleasantly surprised by ramen - we got Tobkatsu and Miso Pork. The broth was flavorful, noodles with great texture without chewiness, with a good amount of the included veggies and meat in both our ramen bowls. The JuJu's chicken tenders were very large and had great crispness. For all the food options, you order at each area, pay, and then wait for your food. Perhaps because we went on a Friday evening, there were many security personnel and police here taking rounds around the area. The staff clean up the tables relatively quickly so it was easy to find a clean table. The inside of the Exchange is very nicely decorated, and each food place seems well kept. We saw people across the whole age spectrum from families with young children, young adults, couples on dates and older adults. Seems like a great area to visit!

Yelp
I love the fact that there is so much variety of food in one place. Picture a mall but only food that's it. I'm a huge fan of the ambiance outside, lots of beautiful lighting and green grass and a huge tv screen. This place feels like it's tucked into a urban area but it's pulled off very nicely. I can't wait to go back again. Perfect for a date
google avatar

Yelp
Great selection of food, easy to get to from Kay Bailey. Try thee lobster roll and Crab Nachos. The ice cream place makes the waffle cone fresh in front of you!!
google avatar

Yelp
This food hall was AMAZING! There were so many different food options to choose from. Since I had already eaten, I opted to try some desserts. They were delicious! There is seating available and the seating areas were clean. All of the vendors seemed friendly. The ice cream was soooo good. This is in the middle of AT&T Discovery District so I am unsure about parking. But, the vibe was good and I'd definitely visit again to try other food spots there.

Yelp
Love this concept! The night I went it was a cool breezy night just perfect for a chill night. There are numerous food options to choose from. I ate at Chilngos tacos. 5/5. Great service!

Yelp
This review is for Easy Slider. I've been a loyal customer for the past 15 years and I get a craving for their sliders often. My favorite ones are the Roadside and the Low & Down. Their loaded tater tots are amazing and you have to try their banana pudding - it's to die for! Easy Slider is an easy choice when you come to the Exchange Hall.
google avatar

Polo V.

Yelp
Really fun place to go and have lunch! There's a lot of options to choose from with my favorite being Jujus Fried Chicken with 2 huge chicken tenders for only $9. The service team here is really nice and helpful as well, going around and helping to clear tables often.

Yelp
Located in the vibrant AT&T Discovery District, the Exchange food hall offers two standout gems: Easy Slider and Dock Local. Easy Slider serves up inventive and delicious sliders with unique toppings, making each bite an exciting mix of flavors, while Dock Local impresses with its fresh seafood offerings and laid-back coastal vibe. Both spots deliver high-quality food in a lively, modern atmosphere, perfect for grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a leisurely meal. The staff at each are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great experience. Whether you're craving a tasty slider or fresh seafood, these two eateries at the Exchange are sure to satisfy.

Yelp
This was our first time going here. We have lived in DFW all our lives (40 years) and never knew this area existed. There was way too much to take in on one trip. There were many places to eat and not enough seating, set up similar to a food court. I had a burrito from Chilangos Tacos, it was good but not the best. My wife had a lobster roll and corn from The Dock it was good but on the pricier side. After that, we had some ice cream at The Spun Cow. I had Gooey Cheesecake with Reeses Pieces topping in a waffle bowl. They made the waffle bowl right there. It was still warm. We went at night and everything is lit up in color changing loghts. The court yard has a giant screen that wraps around the corner of a building. If you have never been here, we highly suggest you take a few hours to check this place out.

Yelp
Great concept. Clean. Family friendly. Plenty of choices. This place has great scenery. Great tourist spot. This is my first time and I've lived here forever.

Yelp
Loved the variety! The food was yummy, too! We tried the tacos, and ramen. Fresh and delicious!
google avatar

Karly W.

Yelp
Really cool spot near AT&T Discovery District. Lots of different options - we recommend trying bites from multiple different stalls. My favorite was the Lobster Roll, and my boyfriend's favorite was the Greek sampler!
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
So many choices and food stands that you can choose from just next to the AT&T park in downtown. Loved the waffle place! First time! Be sure to tour around before you place your order! Very clean with tons of seating...and full area as well. Excellent, friendly service and a lot of smiles. Give this amazing place a whirl!
google avatar

Austin K.

Yelp
I came here on a Monday night and pretty sparse which made relaxing with a book here very convenient. I wish I tested out how strong the wifi was so I could see if I could work here. I went to the Dock, where I got a lobster grilled cheese with the bisque dip - this was very good and the dip is not a must-do but I might actually get it again because it was only a $1 more. I asked for a side salad in the 'Northern style and that was only a $1 more too. Great deal, and comes with chips too. I also went to Saturday morning, and it is indeed pricy at $7 for a little cup but you get unlimited toppings I think, which I did not realize. I got the pretzel bites and it was not bad but didn't work too well with the soft serve. The vanilla one was fine but I would echo others that McD is actually a little better than this.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
This food hall isn't too far from where we are staying in town. Figured we would check it out since it will give us some different food options. Food options are less than appealing, unfortunately. I thought this place would have many more offerings inside.
google avatar

Libby G.

Yelp
Such an amazing concept! So many options in one place! We ate at The Dock! We got the local lobster roll (lobster & shrimp with French fries) and garlic lobster fries! Both were so good! The lobster roll wasn't over powered by mayo, felt like a salad on a roll. It was very refreshing. The fries were so garlicky and huge chucks of lobster. Also love the soft drink concept. The give you on the cup and fountain machines are through out the building. Many refills! Can't wait to go again and try something different.
google avatar

William H.

Yelp
The food was good we had the Philly cheesesteaks! And ultimate fries the food was good the atmosphere is very modern with music just too loud to make it enjoyable! Lower the volume just a bit !! The only reason I wouldn't maybe come back here is they are completely cashless and expect a tip even though they don't bring the food out to you ! I don't support cashless businesses!!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a food court in downtown Dallas and it is really cool. They had pretty much every kind of food you could want which is really nice if you have a group of people. We were there at lunch time on a Thursday so I was surprised at the small amount of people who were there. Made it easy to walk around and decide what we all wanted and there were not lines. All of the staff that I talked to here really nice. I didn't know what some of the food items were so they explained them to me. I really liked it. I had a waffle and chicken sandwich. It was sweet and savory at the same time. It wasn't very big so I thought I would still be hungry but it was the perfect size. I really liked it. My grandkids had chicken strips and fries and they liked them too. My husband had some type of Thai bowl and a chi tea. The tea was amazing.
google avatar

Cathy H.

Yelp
Nice little food hall, I got the nachos which were huge and tasty. The vibes are a little more upscale mall food court than other food halls I've been to that have a bit more character, but it was a good spot for an easy group dinner after a few drinks.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
The place was nice in terms of aesthetics, with lots of different cuisines to pick from. It was also pretty clean considering how busy it is. I had the Shwarma stack from baboushi and it was pretty good and the portions were big. Only thing I would say is that I wish they'd add more meat to the Shwarma stack. Overall a good experience, would definitely come again to try some of the other restaurants.
google avatar

Hailey P.

Yelp
Lots of options. Wish there was a Poke place or better Asian option. The burger place is by far the best bang for your buck. Had a sweet and tasty goat cheese and jam slider! The area is very sketchy and it's hard to sit outside as there is a lot of homelessness in the area. Nothing wrong with homeless people and they have a right to be there as well, but it's was more of the scary behavior such as a random lady have a screaming fit and a man pulling his pants down. Be cautious and avoid night time.
google avatar

Vanessa M.

Yelp
This review is about The Exchange Bar, nice but small bar with a limited menu. I asked for a green tea shot but unfortunately they were unable to do it. They did get me a tequila shot, with salt and 2 limes. Classic. My sister got a yummy little cucumber gin and tonic. Refreshing and mild. The servers were really nice and the indoor and outdoor seating is immaculate.
google avatar

Lily H.

Yelp
This concept totally reminds me of Legacy Hall in west Plano... on a smaller scale, but a great place to hangout with the downtown appeal. It was my first time to visit this weekend and only tried pressed waffle, but definitely would like to explore some of the other shops! Monkey Noodle looked interesting as well as their coffee shop. It is a family oriented place, but I did notice there are several security guards outside the hall. Maybe because it is downtown and lots of different things going on. When the weather is nice I am sure it is amazing to sit and enjoy your meal outside the hall.
google avatar

Phil A.

Yelp
The Exchange Hall is a Food Court located in Downtown Dallas!! They had a lot of options to choose from in here, I chose to go with Chilangos Tacos. I ordered their super nachos, and man did they give you a lot!! They had indoor seated, but it seemed to be a bit cramped, so I opted to eat outside. There's plenty of outdoor seating here, plus you get the locals playing music outside. I couldn't finish my nachos, they were pretty good though. Seems like this place was in the heart of downtown. Good vibes here!!
google avatar

Sheilicha S.

Yelp
I don't have much to say outside of there's a number of food spots inside The Exchange Hall's building. With a Plethora of Homelessness all around the AT&T park, on the benches. We ended up traveling to The Free Man we both enjoyed the food, music, vibes, and spoken word. No photos' and that definitely a FIRST for me. Just wasn't a lot to showcase here.
google avatar

Shu E.

Yelp
If you're in downtown Dallas, please pleaaaase head here. Especially if you have a large crowd, everyone can get what they want and they will have plenty of options to choose from! The food hall is super clean, super spacious, and there's a bar area on top with a patio area that sits right across the big screen outside. When we went, football was playing so you could get a drink and just enjoy watching football on a massive screen so that was very nice! We tried three places, and our favorite was the Mexican place! Their nachos were above and beyond, I almost went back for seconds the very next day. Everyone who worked there was friendly and kind too, so we'll be back when we visit Dallas again!
google avatar

Marquita a.

Yelp
So happy to have found this spot! Located in downtown Dallas next to the AT&T experience. They have a wide variety of options to satisfy any appetite. Definitely worth stopping by and checking it out. Place was clean, plenty of seating, not to mention you can sit outside and enjoy a game on the big screen tv. A great Saturday morning for regulars, tourists, single people, couples, kids, err-body!

Shimmer L.

Yelp
Good food options' my favorite is the taco place and dock local! I get the nachos with extra spice and lobster roll from Dock local! Really good!! Try it yourself! The nachos are enormous too !
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
Great for friends. Lots of different options to eat. Food was good, ambiance was electric. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Netta K.

Yelp
The Exchange is a food court across from the Adolphus Hotel and AT&T discovery center. This is not your "mall" food court. They have sushi, seafood, Greek delicacies, gourmet waffles, a cake from a vending machine, a full bar, and much more! The court opens at 10:30, when you can get a waffle with just about anything on it. When we went, the girls working were rude, seemed annoyed even to be there, and ensured we all (11 girls and parents) knew just how much they didn't want us there. For dinner, we went to the taco place and had the best nachos! This was enough to feed two people and let others share. The price was reasonable, and we hit it twice the weekend we were there. They have garage-type doors that open onto the green space right outside, which makes for a glorious dunning experience. It is two stories, but I never made it up to the second floor; not sure what is up there. This isn't a place locals seem to come to but a great place for kids to run around (outside), people to walk dogs (again, outside), and assemble as a group.

Yelp
AVOID this place like the plague! Firstly, dirty flies attack! Many vendors had these electric fly fans going on their counters. Some even had three or four going. I didn't think much but I should have! Once we sat down and started eating we were surrounded by swarms of flies like bees to pollen! We spent most of the time swatting our hands but the flies still landed all over our food, utensils, straws. Secondly, what a dreary place! The online photos look amazing but what lies. The place was dark and empty. And no matter where you sat there was either a draft blowing all your napkins and receipts away or loud music blasting. Even the vendors stood looking bored. Thirdly, dreary and unwelcoming! We sat near the ramen shop where we got ramen and food from 3 other nearby vendors. There was a restroom near there where we've been using. We tried to go wash our hands one last time after our meal and one employee rudely prevented us from going and told us that restroom was for employees only. Uhh, it was a public restroom. No signs or barriers that said otherwise. No wonder this place was dead on a weekend. With more flies than people in this place, sad food selections, power tripping service staff and unimpressive ambiance I can't wait to see what this place will close and flip into.
google avatar

Gem T.

Yelp
This is a good place to get a bite and decompress after a long day at the convention center. So many food options. It could get pretty crowded and noisy downstairs but they have a lot of seating upstairs too including the patio which has an awesome view of the square. It is an easy 10mins walk from/to the convention center.
google avatar

Traci F.

Yelp
We stopped for a quick bite to eat after attending an event at the Dallas Convention Center. There are several unique food and drink options in this food court. I decided to try the California roll at Ichi. It was fresh and really hit the spot after eating junk food at the convention center. The presentation of the sushi is nice because it's served in cute wood boxes. They were busy so there was a bit of a wait. But it was worth it.
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
Such a great concept! Went with a group from work. And being an out of town group it's hard to please everyone, but this place had something for all! Drinks were pricy but good, and food was on point with a lot of options.
google avatar

Tara D.

Yelp
Neat food hall in Downtown Dallas. Lots of options to choose from, from Indian, seafood, sandwiches, chicken & ice cream. Very clean, lots of security. T.v.'s displayed football games. Bar upstairs this place has something for everyone. Each restaurant was individually operated. Everyone provided good service & happily answered questions.
google avatar

Lynne T.

Yelp
Great concept! Great location. Great eateries too. I will return for lunch again, and now thinking brunch on Saturday would be a well-welcomed adventure here too. I love all the seating available and televisions. Even a bar fir hubby. I have bookmarked Waffle Press for weekend brunch. I will return soon. We diners will be happier when the construction is over and this place surroundings emerge anew!
google avatar

Daniel W.

Yelp
I can't really understand the hype here. Crowded and dirty with mediocre fast casual food options, at amped up prices. OK if you're downtown, need to eat fast and haven't got anywhere else to go, but really not the best option.
google avatar

Ann H.

Yelp
It's hard to give a review for an entire food hall when I can't, though we tried, eat everywhere at the same time. Our family of four tried Easy sliders (tots were the best!), Birdies (disappointed sorry) and Baboushi which was the big winner with delicious Mediterranean flavor and customer service. Overall the atmosphere is fantastic. Would definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area.
google avatar

Robert R.

Yelp
The Exchange Hall is a little difficult to find, but it's a great place to eat, especially if you want variety. The three of us each ordered from a different establishment, which is one of the best things about the Exchange Hall. The setting is very nice and the choices are great.
google avatar

Denise T.

Yelp
We didn't get a chance to eat at any of the eateries. We stopped in for a cocktail before a rehearsal dinner we were attending on the 2nd floor. I am sure the food is also provided by the building but I am not 100% sure on that. We had one cocktail at the downstairs bar before taking the elevator to the 2nd floor private event where we had an open bar and a southern dinner buffet. The patio is gorgeous overlooking the downtown Dallas area. Plenty of seating with couches and tables. It was a fun vibe for sure. The food was good. My fav was the mac n cheese. Very cheesy. Beautiful space for a rehearsal dinner. The service was on point constantly refilling cocktails and clearing plates. Great place!
google avatar

Queen C.

Yelp
It was a great experience my hotel wasn't far from the location so I thought it would be nice to check it out. Once we got to the location it looked like a food court which was ok we just assumed that there would be more things to eat. We got tacos and a steak sandwich from another location that is across from the tacos. I like the tacos mainly the Barbacoa taco but it does only come with only comes with one tacos, I end up paying $29 for 4 different tacos and 2 Mexican cokes. I didn't like the sandwich due to the fact I am not a big carrot fan but my boyfriend is so he loved it. The service from both the locations were great they were nice and ready to service us.
google avatar

Jade L.

Yelp
I went to Chilangos tacos. I ordered 2 Pastor Costra Con todo. I would definitely recommend paying extra for the layer of cheese as that's what made the taco stand out. The meat was tender and the layer of cheese, meat, cilantro, onions, and avocado salsa was the perfect combination. I would recommend only getting one taco with the cheese layer as it's so much cheese that it could be split amongst two tacos. I order two with the cheese layer and could not finish the second one because it was too much cheese.

John L.

Yelp
Got a peanut butter slider and Gouda jam slider. Good food. Service a little slow at easy slider.

Michele W.

Yelp
The outside area is fine but be prepared to drop over $100 (for four) on food the size of your palm, entree only, and receive really bad service. Short story...go anywhere else. There are great options downtown without having to go to a food court that is too expensive for tiny portions that really aren't very good. Longer story...I went to Easy Sliders and ordered the sliders without cheese. I waited half an hour then got my tiny slider with cheese seared onto the meat which turned out to be raw on the inside. When the two workers were confronted about it, they admitted to knowing that the cheese was on it and gave it to me anyway. Thanks! Then, I went to the The Spun Cow and asked for a non dairy option. The girl behind the counter asked me if I would rather change my order. I said no and that I would like the sorbet. She complained that it was in the back and really hard. I told her, "Nevermind," and walked away. My husband ended up spending $30 on three mini tacos - just the tacos and my daughter spent nearly $20 on one tiny quesadilla. Not an order of quesadillas but one little slice. This place is a rip off with mediocre food and horrible service! It's no wonder that our group of twelve had no trouble finding a place to sit during peak hours on a Saturday night.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
Great ambiance, good food, vast seating. I really enjoyed walking around and listening to live music while deciding what to eat. The spicy peanut noodles from Monkey King Noodle company were spicy and packed full of flavor while the falafel bowl from the Mediterranean place was phenomenally flavorful. Not only that but the Baklava was so good! I'd definitely recommend adventuring through here, and there's so many places also walking distance! The only issue was finding parking.
google avatar

Charlotte E.

Yelp
I I absolutely love the exchange hall! There are so many options that everyone is always happy and content! It's in the perfect location downtown Dallas, and it has everything that you want! The vibes outside are also immaculate! Especially around the holidays. Service is fast since there are so many options.
google avatar

Marta Z.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing customer service and AMAZING OPTIONS! Gotta try this place out!
google avatar

Yelp
I LOVE the Exchange Hall! Back when I lived in Downtown Dallas, I frequented the AT&T District. It's especially worth visiting during the holiday season because the city sets up an iconic Christmas tree. The orb statue just adds to the festive ambiance as well. As for the Exchange Hall itself, there is a variety of food to choose from. Whether you're craving pizza, fried rice, street tacos, hummus, or even ice cream - this has it all! My absolute favorite vendor is Press Waffle Co., it always cures my sweet tooth. My husband and I would have a date night routine where we would grab dinner further in Downtown then head over to the Exchange for a quick dessert. There's also a really nice bar at the front of the Exchange that is great for people watching or just soaking in the vibe. I wish I still lived nearby so I could keep up our date night tradition, but now I appreciate the food hall even more when we get the chance to stop by.

Yelp
Hard to decide where to eat but I went with the dock. The trio rolls were great to get to try all 3: crab, lobster, and shrimp rolls! Chips were perfect too. Really nice, clean atmosphere with nice tables and seats. Not too loud, sports and other tv on. Outside is a really nice hangout spot on the yard and live music at the Jaxon. Recommend coming here with a group of friends so everyone can choose something they like with all the wonderful selections.
