"Four-legged friends are very much welcome at the small patio of The Family Dog. There are only a handful of tables beneath a red awning, but it’s a fun place to sit when there are other dogs and dog owners around. As for food, expect decent bar snacks like a towering plate of nachos with ground beef and queso. You could always forgo the food and just drink beer from Scofflaw and Sweetwater while you watch the game on the outdoor TV instead—especially if your dog hasn’t yet mastered the art of not begging." - jacinta howard, nina reeder, juli horsford

"Whenever Sarah McLachlan belts, “In the arms of an angel” during those ASPCA commercials, we head straight to The Family Dog’s patio to hug the closest schnauzer. The outdoor area of this Virginia-Highland/Morningside bar has roughly ten tables and a congregation of canines waiting for their owners to “accidentally” drop scraps of thin-patty cheeseburgers on the ground. Inside, there are no dogs. But there are TVs perpetually tuned into ESPN and strangers discussing Atlanta’s latest sports debacle over good beer. While most people just come here to drink something locally made (like Scofflaw and Sweetwater), The Family Dog also makes decent bar bites like a towering plate of nachos with ground beef and queso, and solid lemon pepper wings. Basically, The Family Dog is like a waterboy during a tennis match: useful when you need a drink, but forgettable when you aren’t thirsty. And that's just fine with us (and probably all the dogs on the patio, too). Food Rundown photo credit: Amy Sinclair Nachos These nachos aren’t anything special. But you get a massive portion with plenty of queso and ground beef, so it’s a good order if you’re here with a group. photo credit: Amy Sinclair Wings The lemon pepper wings aren’t good enough to make our best wings guide but they work in a pinch when you’re watching a game and need to stress eat. All American Burger It’s a solid, average burger. Pastrami & Kraut We’ve pulled fresher pastrami out of our fridge than what’s on this marble rye bread. Skip this, and get the burger instead. photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair video credit: The Infatuation" - Juli Horsford

Google
Look at Yelp before going - much more accurate ratings. Went on a Tuesday evening, it was empty. Ordered our food, waited 45 minutes, all the food came out dry and cold. Crazy when they charge $20 bucks for a burger and fries. They did not have bacon for their bacon cheeseburger. When I went to the restroom, there was a table where 5-6 wait staff were sitting and mingling instead of serving customers. It was very apparent that there was a lack of management/ownership as kitchen and staff were not focused on providing a good experience. This place used to be good - do not go.

Google
Byron and the staff at The Family Dog are so prompt, congenial with absolutely outstanding customer service. Tip these people well‼️💯 Great customer service should always be rewarded! Thank you again for a wonderful experience with Coors Light!

Google
We went there on Sunday as we were traveling home. Bryon was our server and let me tell you he is AMAZING. He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We had three apps and they were beyond good. The okra however was lights out amazing. This is somewhere we will stop again!

Beware! We decided to try The Family Dog on Halloween evening, bringing along our pet to enjoy the pet-friendly patio. The wait staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and inviting. Food, drinks, and our check took a while to come out because our waitress who was extremely sweet was also extremely chatty and she often sat to socialize with other patrons in between our requests. Definitely the type of place that prioritizes regulars. We ordered the chicken tenders, Brussels sprouts, fries, a turkey burger, and fountain drinks. We shared the tenders, fries, and brussel sprouts and they were tasty, but the turkey burger was another story. The turkey patty had a mushy texture inside, an orange-brown hue, and an unexpectedly spicy taste. After just a couple of bites, I decided to pack it up for later, as I couldn’t get past the texture and seasoning. Our dog had water, a pup cup, and a dog bowl with cooked rice, carrots, and ground meat, which he seemed to enjoy. Unfortunately, less than 20 minutes after leaving, both my child and I were struck with severe stomach cramps. We had to frantically find a clean restroom amid Halloween traffic. Imagine the toilet scene straight out of Dumb and Dumber—except with added nausea, sweating, and a lot of praying in between flushes. I hate that our first experience turned out this way, especially since we had hopes of making The Family Dog a regular spot. Friendly service and a nice patio, but after that unforgettable evening…never again.

Google
Went for a show recently and had a very tasty meal. They are definitely making some of the best chicken tenders and quesadillas in town.

Google
The food was ok. I had the fried chicken sandwich, but made it to a biscuit. The biscuit was kinda dry and hard. I'm not really sure if they actually have a dog menu, but our server told us they can cook some meat patty for our dog. The rest of the food was just ordinary.

Google
I played piano at The Family Dog and the staff, service, atmosphere and crowd were all amazing! Byron especially was super supportive and very friendly! We had a really fun night and definitely looking forward to being there again and hanging with Byron! If you need a great family place to hang and awesome service go see Byron at family dog!!

Google
Stopped by for brunch. They are dog friendly but only have 7 tables available for families with dogs. When we arrived almost all tables were occupied by patrons without pets. Once we got our table, the wait staff was friendly. While we were looking for a table, we were ignored by all staff. They have a limited menu but the food was good. Full bar and craft beers.

Yelp
We were in town for my granddaughters improv debut and gor a celebratory lunch she chose this spot, a favorite of hers. Typical pub fair, good for family, lots of tv's for game viewing. The best tasting tator tots, that's for sure..we got a plate for the table and they were quickly gobbled up. I enjoyed a delicious BLT.

Yelp
After a failed attempt to get a seat at Whiskey Bird & Truva, we aimlessly wandered into The Family Dog. We just wanted a quick drink and snack before heading home but were really hoping we would be able to bring the pup! And leave it to a restaurant called the Family Dog to be the best dog friendly option in the 'hood! We were seated on the empty dog friendly patio pretty quickly (it was a hot summer day). The server was hard to flag down but once we got her, we were able to order quickly and efficiently. She also brought a pup cup to my dog which she thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered an Aperol Spritzer to help cool off and we paired it with an order of tots and queso, as recommended by our server. Honestly, it was all the perfect little snack, while letting us dine with our dog. I'll have to stop in for a full meal next time!

Yelp
Interesting establishment. A coworker selected this place. It's more of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant. Classic bar food menu. They apparently have live music as a band was setting up and checking their mics the entire time I was there. When selecting beers to have, we were told that a large bachelor party was there the night before and cleaned them out of several types. We were able to find something suitable. Our server was very nice but was stretched to the max and running all over the place. She was working hard but had too many things to do. Service was a little slow because of that, but I can't say that she didn't try. We all had different items and everyone enjoyed what they had. I ended up with a burger that was decent. We ordered nachos as an appetizer. They didn't seem to have much if any cheese on them. There was a large, loud group beside us that didn't make the best experience. I would however go back again as the food was decent.

Yelp
A sweet and accessible neighborhood bar and restaurant with friendly service, the Family Dog is a good option for a drink and casual meal when in the neighborhood. We stopped in on a recent Saturday morning, and enjoyed a couple beers before settling in to our brunch- a huge and hearty southwestern black bean and egg bowl for me, and breakfast tacos for her. It hit the spot and made for a fun and relaxed weekend morning.

Tierney J.

Yelp
Pretty much never been disappointed here so Five Stars for me! This is a Morningside Lenox Park neighborhood restaurant that stays open pretty late, although I've only gone during the day! I noticed they have good weekly deals when I strolled in with my son on a Tuesday afternoon! (During happy hour which I noticed lasts much longer than other places. 4pm-7pm! This is super clutch!) The chef made him this delicious buttery Mac n cheese! I had to try it and it was pretty good! She actually came out and hand delivered it right to our table just for him! I ordered 3 tacos! 2 Buffalo cauliflower (the red onions and blue cheese crumbles did it for me ) and 1 fish taco! Yummy yum yum! The cauliflower was my favorite! I always want to try something different everytime I go which isn't like me at all! Once I find something I like I tend to stick with it! But this place makes me want to try it all!

Yelp
ATTENTION OWNER: you have a problem! Yesterday, your establishment had no manager on site, one cook and wait staff that were like deer in the headlights. When there is going to be a wait of over one hour to get their meal, let them know upon arrival. Once the food did arrive, the tater tots were cold. The salad one in our party ordered had no dressing. Another asked for a certain dressing he left off the sandwich, it was on the sandwich. Maybe if the waitress wrote down the order, it would have helped! HORRIBLE experience! This isn't 2020-21. Get some ADULT supervision in your place. Get your act together.

Mama H.

Yelp
The service was terrible. I'm not sure why they were even open because everything we ordered was out: shrimp po boy: "we're out"; bbq pork tacos: "we're out of salsa verde" - so it was served dry with no sauce; Captain and Coke: "we're out of Captain Morgans!" The waitress barely checked on our table and the food (what was left of it) took FOREVER to be served. Hopefully this was just a bad night.

Yelp
My friend and I used to love The Family Dog's BLTs, but we went there a month ago and we both were super nauseous later that night. Went there again last night and I had forgotten about how it made me feel last time, so I only remembered after he didn't order the BLT. I figured it was probably a one-off issue, surely it won't make me sick again, plus I used to love it. So I got it. Unfortunately I was wrong, and I was throwing up all night. It was miserable. I never leave reviews like this, and I wouldn't now if the same thing hadn't happened twice, a month apart, and to someone else besides me too, so I know it's not just me. I don't even have a sensitive stomach! I'm still giving this place some stars because the atmosphere is great, and the rest of the food is great too. It would be amazing if they could figure out what was in the BLT that was making us sick, because it was used to be delicious. Still is, but not worth the aftermath. I'll definitely go back but will be ordering something else!

Yelp
Great place in the neighborhood of Highland, very welcoming to everybody, good atmosphere, THE BEST TACOS ANYWHERE IN TOWN (Except for maybe Nuevo Laredo with thair lobster and shrimp tacos) . Honestly these guys are just closer to me so... this is The Family Dog, everything about this place is good, I've always had good experiences with the staff, the food, always been good, they atmosphere is good the tacos on taco Tuesday are exceptional! In my picture from left to right the Carnitas taco , the fried fish taco and then the fried chicken taco happy eating :*)

Sabrina D.

Yelp
Went a few months ago with friends. This place had a cute vibe and menu looked decent so we decided to go in. The wait was not long at all to sit down, but we ended up waiting about 45 mins to an hour for our food. Our waters were refilled once. It was a Sunday morning so we figured maybe they were just too busy and behind in the kitchen but it turns out that the server just completely forgot about us and no other servers or runners checked in on us. Our party was unimpressed when the food did finally make its way to our table. Probably would not return even if the service would have been quicker.

Yelp
I was craving some wings. I searched Google for "wings near me" and this spot popped up. It was right across the street from where I was getting my nails done. It's was kinda empty but I was really attracted by the fact that they had a patio. Actually the whole restaurant was open to air. I was greeted promptly wand warmly. The menunis simple but has what you would need. My server came in just enough time for me to order wings and fries (see pics). They were flavorful and good. Just what I needed. I will definitely come back. One thing that was different from any where else I've been is there is a 3.5% charge for using credit cards instead of cash. It was on the menu so I knew and it did not deter me. I would definitely plan to eat there if the weather is nice when I get my nails done again.

Aja F.

Yelp
First time coming to this place. It was okay. The wings are extra large. I asked for hot with lemon pepper and received what looks like barbecue with a little spice. The lemon pepper sprinkles came later. I also ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad for my main course. Let me just tell you. None of the sandwiches come with any condiments. The hamburgers came dry with no condiments and the chicken I had to ask for some mayo, lettuce and tomatoes to put on the sandwich. All drinks are in some sort of cocktail glass instead of big glasses. Get ready for the let down. I will not be back.

Nathan W.

Yelp
I was on a date with this gorgeous black girl and we decided to stop by here for dinner. We were apprehensive of the loud environment but after realizing one of her friends worked there and the staff was friendly we became more comfortable. The tater tots were excellent along with the wings, but the chicken sandwich left something it be desired. To thick for my liking. However, the reason I give this place 5 stars is because I had a vision of the patron saint of the restaurant. Walking out of the door after sitting in the check and there, on a leash, wagging his tail and looking around the patio - it was him. The Family Dog. He glanced at me for a moment and then he was gone.

Holly C.

Yelp
Stopped coming here a year ago due to poor service and bad food. Pleasantly surprised at their complete turnaround. Service was excellent, food was on time, and order was correct. Thank goodness they're back! Kudos to the manager for getting it right.

Patrick C.

Yelp
The Good: The Family Dog has cool art and great music taste. The Awful: The food is some of the worst I've had in Atlanta. A friend ordered avocado toast and it was one of the most horrifying excuses for a meal that I've ever seen. I could have done better with a $5 budget at Kroger and a microwave. The service was sub-par and the waitress didn't care. It's disappointing because I really want to like this place but I'll never go back.

Roberta L.

Yelp
I hope this is taken constructively as I don't take it lightly to leave a 1-star review. Today was our first visit. They were maybe half-full. We sat and were served water, nothing else. I made eye contact as a few servers walked past but nothing happened. After a while I got up and got a few menus. Finally our wait person came over ... since it was our first time, husband asked about one of the dishes. Lackluster ho-hum response. We ordered breakfast dishes and I ordered a cup of coffee. Not a good start but hoping the meal will be redemptive. This is one of my pet peeves in a restaurant. I order coffee with cream and sweetener. It comes with cream only so I ask for sweetener. And then of course, no spoon so I mix with my knife. Coffee service is pretty simple - options of milk, sweetener and a spoon. So, 40 minutes later no food. I can see multiple dishes of food just sitting at their kitchen window for a while so we decided to cut our losses and leave. Tipped the waiter $10 for our coffee and iced tea.

Nicole K.

Yelp
Pro: - Staff were nice Neutral: the food was okay. Not great but not bad either Cons: - The music on the patio was so loud and obnoxious we could barely hear each other let alone hear ourselves think - Patio area was cramped

Barbara T.

Yelp
Every time my husband and I take our dogs to Piedmont Park, we go eat at the Family Dog after going to the park. FOOD: beef nachos for appetizer and Steak burger with fries for entree. Homemade burguer !!! We love it . Everything tastes so fresh! Ambience: inside has a sport/ pub ambience and outside tables with chairs or wood benches ( where we always sit). Cold ? Don't worry . They have an outside heater. Staff: the wait staff are very friendly. Dog: your dog gets pampered there. They have water bowls around the outdoor area and they even made some snacks for our dogs ( bacon / peanut butter ) Parking : very easy, plenty of parking. Next time, we will try the brunch

Dave B.

Yelp
Service was great. Burger was way too salty. Nickel and dime customers with credit card charges versus cash. Only wanted a single patty on burger, still charged full price $15.

Scott Z.

Yelp
Pros: Easy parking. Good location. Looks kinda cool inside. Patio dining. Lots of TVs. Generally good service. Cons: Lack luster menu. Little culinary skill in creating recipes or preparing dishes. Expensive. Can be quite noisy. Also: Beware of restaurants that don't have prices on their menus. I understand that meats and fresh seafood have a market price. Beer doesn't. Which means they are likely gouging you. I wish this place was better. I've had one really good item and they removed that from the menu. Otherwise, I've had the world's saltiest wings, some dull-ass nachos, a nice dish of Brussels, and a decent burger. In summary: TFD is, at best, Hit or Miss.

Betty T.

Yelp
If you're in North Atlanta, The Family Dog is a good spot to go to. It Totally ROCKS!!I I was welcomed with my service dog (he even got a puppy cappuccino --you gotta go to find out. The manager watched my dog for me to wash my hands too!! So, it's a pub, so there's that, as far as the credit card comment, I use a prepaid card, something to consider Again, great spot to go to if you have a pet. Totally pet friendly environment. Just plan for time to park because the area is congested. This is SO one of my go to spotsfor me and my dog.

Morgan D.

Yelp
Truly can't believe I just spent $75 here. No shade to my server he was fine but wow that food was...so so bad. I feel horrible leaving a bad review but I can't even believe how horrible and over priced that was lol

Neel B.

Yelp
I went here for a quick Sunday brunch with my buddy. We were seated promptly outside at a hightop and tended to quickly even with no reservation. Staff was super friendly and accommodating - we got our drinks pretty quickly. The Bloody Mary was nice, not too strong to make me hate myself later in the day. I got the cathead biscuits and Cajun gravy - they were really good! Ambiance was perfect with a great musician playing some light covers. I'll definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu.

Amber K.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood and I want to love this place but I just can't. The food is fine, typical bar food. The service is awful. Took about 15 minutes for a server to approach us. The server seemed like we were bothering her when she took our order. Not sure what the owners need to do to make this place better but it will be hard to return.

Shawn E.

Yelp
Meh. Nice location and dog friendly but the food is average at best. Two burgers (not great) a chicken sandwich, chips and salsa, a beer and two soft drinks - $90 before tip. I don't mind paying a bit more for quality but this meal didn't warrant the prices.

Liz A.

Yelp
The Family Dog in Morningside's slogan is sit, stay, relax. That's exactly what you experience when you walk through the doors: sit for a tasty cocktail, stay for the Brussel sprouts and chicken and waffles, relax to the live music. They have fun pub vibes mixed with unique cocktails and serious eats. Are you ready to find out why TFD is a very good dog? Upon arrival we sat for a tasty cocktail. We tried two of them: The Gardner and Cool Heat. The prettiest of the two, the Cool Heat was everything you think it would be from the name: jalapeno tequila is both savory and spicy, combined with cool lime, agave, and grapefruit. It was spicy on the throat, but not overbearing and was citrusy, sweet, and the grapefruit pairs well with the spice of the jalapeno and gives it a depth. It's the most unique drink we've tried in a while and we dig it. The other cocktail, the Gardner was a good, summer sipper, refreshing and light, with gin and cucumber then tart on the end. One of those cocktails you could drink a few of on your front porch and watch the fireflies dance in the night air. We stayed for several of the shareable eats like the chicken caprese flat bread, Brussel sprouts, and buffalo cauliflower. From wings without the wings, bacon-loaded sprouts, to an Italian flatbread classic, everything was on point at The Family Dog. We really enjoyed each of these apps and almost can't decide which was our favorite. Starting with the chicken caprese flatbread, it was an Italian classic dish in flatbread form with tender chicken, mozzarella dollops, and earthy tomatoes. Topped with balsamic glaze, it was a delicious bite, something you can share with a friend or horde all to yourself. We with the latter! Have you ever had something that ate like a chicken wing without the actual "wing?" That's what the buffalo cauliflower was with tasty buffalo sauce, perfectly fried cauliflower and blue cheese dressing. It was surprisingly good and satisfied that wing craving. If you dig down to the bottom, you'll find even saucier bites, we recommend you do that and dip it in blue cheese. All the feels. Finally, let's not forget the Brussel sprouts. From crispy to savory to sweet, some of the best Brussel dish we've had in a while! They'll smack you in the mouth with bacon, which is always welcome, and follow up with crispy, leafy greens, sweet balsamic, and slight salt. So good we call it Brussel love! We don't discriminate when it comes to breakfast for dinner and the chicken and waffles hit that spot! The flaky and sweet waffle topped with some seriously good chicken tenders, drizzled in syrup, topped with whipped cream and tart strawberries. Are you hungry yet? We took the waffle, chicken tender, some whipped cream, strawberries, and syrup and rolled it all up into one bite. Insert mind blown emoji here. One of the sides we had we want to talk about, truffle cauliflower mash. Wowza! If you wouldn't have told us it was cauliflower you wouldn't have known. Just. Like. Potatoes. It was blended well, creamy, the right amount of salt, and of course the truffle was so deep and rich that it's delectable. Couldn't stop eating it! Plus, they have live music on Thursdays, so we relaxed to the sounds as we sipped and ate our way through The Family Dog menu. If you're looking for some good food, cocktails, and music, you should visit TFD. It's a seriously good dog.

Robbie L.

Yelp
We waited a little over an hour for our food. It feels like a sauna inside. They turned the music up really loud while we were in there. The whole process just took forever. The hot sauce was great but I would not eat here again. Mid as heck, I would give 0 stars if I could

Ariella P.

Yelp
We enjoyed the Family Dog on a Thursday night. We sat on the patio as my own family dog joined us. The restaurant provides heaters and even brought him a bowl of water, so that was great. Draft beer selection is good, a little pricey for their rotating tap ($8.50). We had the Mexico Trio Dip, which was enough to share with the three of us. I enjoyed the spinach and mushroom quesadilla. Solid choice, onions grilled perfectly. Maybe a few too many pickled jalapeños in the actual quesadilla, but I'm just not a huge fan of them so that's on me. I ordered a side of macaroni and cheese to try and was not impressed. It had a really strange after taste, I let the other folks at our table try and they agreed. Server was great, she was very friendly and helpful. The manager stopped by and spoke to us as well, which I always appreciate. It shows that they care about what's going on. At this point I hadn't tried the macaroni and cheese or I would've mentioned it, but not a big deal. Forgot to take pictures of my food but the portions are average. I'll add a photo of my beer just for kicks.

Floyd W.

Yelp
Two IPA's. One Chicken Caesar wrap. The bill with tax was $41.00 (not including tip). Everything tasted great, but that is very expensive for what I ordered. Should be changed to $$$ on Yelp. Prices should at least be printed on the hard copy menu. If if they fluctuate then just go totally digital.

Mark W.

Yelp
If you want to know what a restaurant with no one in charge is like, you can find out here. Their business model is obviously that the food and service don't matter because people will come out of desperation for a convenient dog friendly patio.

Bob C.

Yelp
Good food. Good service. Good beer. Good TVs on the walls. What more could you ask for? Even some interesting Grateful Dead art on one wall. They also cater to dog owners and their pets. Not too crazy about the idea but it was not a problem when I was there. Just a little bit on the high side for prices but not unreasonable.

Brandys S.

Yelp
Took my dogs there for lunch. Very pet friendly, outside seating can be a bit congested. Water bowls was set up for dogs they even had a pup cup/ treat for the dogs (ask for it). The food is pretty good and service was great as well.

Camille H.

Yelp
Decent brunch spot. The food includes normal brunch staples and isn't necessarily unique, but the food is above average. No more bottomless mimosas!! Indoor and outdoor seating. Big high top tables inside so they can accommodate big parties. Very dog friendly. Not gourmet brunch, but a great affordable place to just hang out on the weekends. All of the prices are very very. For lunch and dinner- the wings are the best in Atlanta! But the other food is just average

Madalyn J.

Yelp
We came here for Sunday brunch and had the best time! We loved that the patio is dog friendly since we like to bring our pup along with us. She was provided water and a pup cup which was so cute!! They just revamped their menu, so we tried the new pulled pork tostada and the friend chicken sandwich. The pulled pork tostada was sooo good and they did NOT skimp on the pork, sauce, or avocado which was appreciated. The tots were also literally the best tots I've ever put in my mouth, they were perfectly crunchy and salty and flavorful! The chicken sandwich was delicious too, we thought the pimento cheese and the egg were the perfect toppings! I got the mule and a mimosa to drink, both of which were perfect. I usually don't like to get mimosas out since they are usually mostly OJ, but this one was the PERFECT ratio of OJ to champagne. We can't wait to come back and try more of their new menu!

Ryan F.

Yelp
Overpriced, took a while to get a server. Literally made eye contact with a waitress 3 times while sitting outside and was ignored. The food is good, just seems like the portions are too small for what the price is. Beer looked expensive as well. Great place to take a dog though, I would come again with my dog, but would not come all the time.

Tom K.

Yelp
Service is terrible, food is not great, and the menu is way over priced. Not worth it. Told staff there was a roach on our wings and they just said that gross when we moved. I'm out.

Chardy C.

Yelp
My dog loves it and that's a win win for me. The prices are kind of pricey for simple things, so I just went with the Mexican Trio Dip. It was a great starter! They offer a free pup cup and it has bacon on it. I learned that my boy isn't a fan of bacon, but he loves his whip cream.

Calvin P.

Yelp
Don't watch football here!!! First and most annoying, they blast bad Atlanta rap in between during commercials (think Lil Jon screaming about twerking and on a constant loop). Not only that, but having my beer served to me in a plastic cup (yes yes, I know about glass breaking but that's why you have bus boys) is almost insulting. Food was OK. There's better places.

Kelli W.

Yelp
Went right after work with coworkers and had a great time! They are two parking lots on both sides of the building, as well as street parking. They have covered patio seating where dogs are allowed and inside seating. We sat outside because it was a nice day. They had 1/2 off wine bottles so that was really appealing and of course we indulged lol. The group had several drinks including: North Highland punch, Lola, Rain at Albarino, and Martini's. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. For food: cheeseburger, hamburger, chicken tenders, beef Nachos, Caesar Salad, Okra, Veggie Burger, and the turkey burger. No complaints on the food and everyone enjoyed everything. My favorite was the okra...this is hands down some of the best okra I've had! I would go back just for this and a drink. Service was great and prompt! Would highly recommend and will be returning!

Cre T.

Yelp
I've served for over 10 years, and customer service was not met. Me and my girlfriend and I went in 3/11/23. Sign says seat yourself, so we did, sat, and talked for a few. The server kept walking past, not sure if that was her section or not, but common courtesy would have been to say someone would be with you shortly. So maybe another 5 minutes and still no one, so we got up and left out. It was not a very good experience. We decided to try something new and were very disappointed with the experience.

Yelp
I've just discovered this hidden gem tucked in a quaint beautiful neighborhood in Atlanta. The vibes are great and the patio is even better. To top it all off, this might be the best avocado toast I've ever had.

Yelp
I've been going to The Family Dog for several years now, as I work within 100 yards of its front door. It used to be my favorite hangout for a beer or two after work once or twice a week after a stressful day pre-Covid. Since Covid passed through and stopped all my bar fly activity for a year plus, I resumed walking over and having my couple of beers once or twice a week, as well as the occasional lunch. Things have changed, and not for the better. If you're sitting outside, it's great. The waitresses are friendly and the food is good. BUT: if you go to the bar and belly up, the staff there basically congregate at one end of the bar and rarely bother to check on you. Pre-covid, when you walked in, they greeted you and the bartenders would shoot the breeze with you and the other bar patrons. Now, the staff all gather in a group at the kitchen end of the bar and talk amongst themselves the entire time you are there and once in a while check with you if your glass is empty. I have to admit, I miss the old school way that bartenders earn their tips with a good personality, a little friendly conversation and prompt service with a smile. Almost as if they appreciated their customers. Now, I feel tolerated at best. It's an okay place, but I miss the old pre-Covid staff and fun attitude.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on a Sat. There is a shared parking lot and street parking. They have a bar, booths, high top tables and patio seating. Plenty of TV's for sports. I had an awesome veggie burger! Quinoa based, not black bean so a bit different and very tasty. I also had delicious buffalo cauliflower. They have great veggie and non veggie options for brunch, lunch or dinner. They have a good beer selection and nice drinks. I had a tasty mimosa. Server was very friendly and it was pretty open for brunch. I think they also have live music sometimes. Good spot!!

Yelp
We have been there three times and I keep wanting to like it because it has such a great atmosphere outside, and the staff are really welcoming, but the food... is mediocre to bad every time... so I don't think we'll be back unfortunately. Last time the tacos were so bad there were inedible.

Yelp
I'm a regular here. This was a great bar...until it turned into a daycare center. Get rid of the pop-a-shot or the adults will stop coming. If I wanted to listen to kids throwing basketballs through that machine incessantly for 2 hours I would go to chuk e cheese.

Yelp
TFD has gone so downhill. It's as if the owners don't care. I live in the neighborhood and want to support it but can't. Yes, the have drinks and beer which is great. But the menu and food are miserable. I'm not asking for a 5 star menu, but put a little effort in having 1-2 things that r somewhat healthy and a little more effort into making the food edible. The place also just feels tired and old and needs some new energy.

Yelp
I took my 16 year old daughter here on her request...I have to admit being unimpressed. Inside is a bar basically. Lots of loud mouthed local folks. Nobody older there-they couldn't hear if they went. The food is high priced bar food. Daughters wrap was skimpy. I had to give her some of my food. I got the chicken tender basket, which was easily the weirdest chicken tenders I have ever had. Stringy and over battered. I did like the tater tots. Fries were substandard. Service was okay. Never ever going back. 30 bucks and no drinks.

Yelp
**First I'm going to be totally honest and say that I'm biased towards any restaurant that serves breakfast all day. That's the kind of food devotion I'm talking about, people! Sometimes it's hard to get to breakfast before 10:30am, okay?! The Family Dog is so much fun. I loved it for it's Friday and Saturday night vibes under previous management, when it was more of a rundown dive bar than anything else. Now, though, I love it for the meal service. I came here this past Saturday for a weekend lunch and was just thrilled as soon as I walked in the door. The place looks great compared to its past iterations. I'm loving the beachy, shiplap vibes of the new booths that have replaced that stage area. I'm also so glad they decided to keep the giant Grateful Dead artwork on the wall. The ambiance is perfect... It just feels like anyone could be a regular here. Service was stellar. I wish I had gotten my waitress's name; she was all over it. I ordered a turkey burger off the regular lunch menu. It was only $8 and was excellent. Perfectly cooked with a nice crispy patty texture. The menu item comes with sambal (AKA spicy) mayo and sundried tomato relish. I opted for regular mayo (I'm a baby when it comes to anything too spicy) and added some fresh tomato slices. I also swapped the side for truffle cauliflower mash. My friend had the shrimp po boy with fries (no substitutions because he's normal). I tried a bite and loved it. I wish I had gotten the fries! While the mash was great, these are my favorite kind - real potatoes!! We'll keep coming here as long as the experience stays so great!!
