"Underneath one of Burlington’s favourite farm-to-table eateries lies one of the city’s favourite drinking dens. Communal seating, a roaring fireplace and over 30 draft beers makes this subterranean bar a charming place to warm up with a libation in winter. In the warmer months, Farmhouse’s above-ground beer garden is a happening outdoor patio with occasional live music." - Heather Platt

The drinks and the atmosphere were both excellent; it is Vermont, after all. I always find the atmosphere delightful when visiting Vermont. I enjoyed the fries; they were warm, fresh, and crispy. My burger was cooked perfectly, although the caramelized onions were actually pickled onions, and the cheddar cheese lacked sharpness. My husband's burger was good, and he enjoyed it. He tasted my burger and agreed that it didn't quite meet my expectations.

Google
Service was excellent. Excellent place to enjoy dinner on the patio on a beautiful evening. Some food was excellent, some was fine. Mussels and tomato salad were very good. Burger was undercooked but bun and bacon were burnt. Tasted both charred and raw at the same time - flavor was good but it would have been so much better if cooked correctly. Overall though, a solid dinner and I would try again on a different night.

We were at Farmhouse for a Saturday dinner. The restaurant was super crowded, there was a 40 minutes wait time. But then the host told us they had a speakeasy bar in the basement. That worked out well for as we found an empty booth. There were bunch of board games, dirts and lots of sitting space. The menu was same the one in the restaurant. We ordered couple of drinks alongside bunch of dishes. Tuesday drinks were good. Mussels were okay, I felt there was some unpleasant smell to it. But the farm beef burger, salmon and mac n cheese were very good. We enjoyed those a lot. The bartender and rest of the staff were very friendly. The food did take little extra time to come out. But overall we had a nice dinner experience.

My experience at Farmhouse Tap & Grill was truly outstanding! Sitting at the bar, I thoroughly enjoyed socializing, dining, and drinking. The service was absolutely top-notch – attentive, personable, and incredibly kind. And those jerk chicken wings? Delicious! They weren't overly spicy but packed a fantastic depth of flavor.

Google
First time dining here. We went around 1pm, the place was packed and buzzing. I would recommend making a reservation. We were lucky there was a table than opened up. We ordered the dry-rubbed chicken wings for appetizers and it was good and crispy! I definitely recommend that if you like wings! For our meal, we both ordered BBQ Beef burger with fries. Fresh burger patty, buns and vegetables. Coleslaw and onion rings were good as well. Comes with good serving of fries. Their barbecue sauce and hot sauce was good as well. I had the rockies root beer, it is extra for refills. We had the cane cola (way better than other sodas!) and rookies root beer (it’s really good!) for our beverages. It has a nice atmosphere and with good music but was overpowered by people chatting (people catching up with each other). It didn’t bother me but if you like to enjoy peace and quiet with your meal, it might not be the best place for you. Plenty of dining area and limited seating by the bar. Overall good experience and will definitely come back!

Google
Comfort food, locally sourced food. As a solo traveler, treated with respect. My server Sedona was kind, patient and let me take my time in ordering. Very attentive.

Google
The farmhouse is located in Burlington downtown. 2 floors of the dining area. First level is full service but there was no table so we went to lower level which is half self service. Honestly I love the vibes in lower level. It’s more like a lounge chill type setup. Some board games and dart to play. We ordered the food at the bar and they brought it to our table. Definitely love the burger. Perfectly cook patty, tender and juicy packed with flavors. the fries were great too. It’s a little hard to find parking ( street meter parking).

Google
Went on a Friday night, great atmosphere and friendly service but I felt it took a long time for my meal to be served. Food was delicious, especially the apple pie and great beers on tap. I had the turkey burger. Prices are steep around Burlington and this place was no different but food quality was excellent.

John R.

Yelp
Service was acceptable and the food was bland but well presented. The Irish Cheddar soup was the most delicious item but don't do the croutons, they were kinda stale. I'm sure there are better choices downtown.

Michelle S.

Yelp
I could BATHE in their cheddar ale soup. Really hearty after a long day out. Also got their toasted cornbread, which is how all corn bread should come from now on. This is a place that really nails the basics. My order was ready right when I walked in, super friendly service, the whole nine.

Yelp
Came here the Thursday after Xmas as we were on vacation and since our travel day was next day also our anniversary, we (along with the kids) celebrated here tonight. Certainly, pricey we had an excellent meal. Drink: I had one of their old fashioned. Appetizer: We split their $8 cornbread skillet. Could have been a bit larger but was certainly good esp with the butter. My kids had a bowl of the cheese soup and even though this is a week later, I certainly enjoyed partaking in this (they offered) :) Entree: I had the coq a vin and while it had a 'kick' (from the wine) it was certainly great and a nice warm dish for a very cold evening. My wife had a kale salad and had dry rubbed chicken wings; Some of the best wings I've had. Wish we weren't so full otherwise I would have gobbled the rest of these up. Dessert: Flourless chocolate cake with a candle for our anniversary. Insert 'awww'. Great.

Marian L.

Yelp
Was not expecting just burgers as it states "Grill", but it's more of a "pub style" atmosphere. Beer that husband had was good. Service was ok and did not check in on us just dropped and went. This is more than $$ as well the burger alone was $25

Deena J.

Yelp
Absolutely love the Tap House! It's our annual special occasion restaurant of choice, we have never been disappointed. The Beef Tartar is magnificent -- I don't trust a lot of meat but I trust the Farmhouse. Tuna Tartar was a bit overpowering on the spice, but still good. Mussels were delicate & sauce complimented it perfectly. Burger scrumptious as always.

Kiyah G.

Yelp
Not sure why the place has inconsistent reviews...it was great for us. Our party of 9 was seated immediately and the service was excellent. Our party loved the chicken wings and. Enjoyed the fish and chips. The drinks were also excellent.

Yelp
Located in central Burlington within a walkable are, Farmhouse Tap and Grill is a great dining option, including for families. We had the Howard Center Burger, Mac and Cheese, and Adam's Farm Chicken Dinner. The Mac and Cheese could have been slightly more salty but was still solid. The chicken and burger were amazing and flavorful. A nice bonus is the live music in the back on certain nights. Definitely put this on your list.

Ebony J.

Yelp
We went her last minute and got seated fairly quickly. Service was great. Our waitress was very friendly. My niece is vegan and loved her black bean burger. My wings were good. I do prefer sauce but they were good. It wasn't too noisy but lively.

Kim L.

Yelp
I'm in Burlington to take my granddaughter for a tour of UVM and she looked up this spot - we thought we'd call for reservations, but decided to stop in. Got a table quickly, kind of close to others but it was ok. Our server was Nora, she was great. We ordered drinks - and, and unusual thing - they only serve local spirits and the martini I ordered was quite good - although it came with olives instead of the twist I asked for. Aubrey ordered a Shirley temple - didn't realize that it was a bottle soda; as opposed to what I thought of as a Shirley temple. Her dinner was a Mac and cheese with caramelized onions - kind of a gourmet Mac and cheese. I went for a black bean veggie burger - and I know it was made in house because it kind of fell apart. Tasty, but messy. The fries were super yummy. The space is kind of funky, but if she goes to UVM I will want to come back!

Yelp
Cheddar Soup Smooth cheddar soup with a bold cheddar presence that isn't overpowering. The garlic croutons step it up a notch. Very delicious. Just wish it was a bigger bowl, cause it was so good. #ThisFeedsMySoulStatusConferred Dry Rubbed Chicken Wings Earthy spiced dry rub, very delicious, and plentiful amount of rub covering the entire exterior of each wing. The wings were perfectly fried, crispy skin and still moist on the inside. They nailed this. I Cynivised it and got blue cheese dressing instead of ranch. Good presence of blue cheese that was not tangy, well done. Vermont Heritage Grazers Pork The pickled cabbage was freshly pickled which gave the perfect amount of tang, while still being crunchy and fresh. Excellent amount of cheese with the perfect melt. The pork patty was on the small side. While it worked, having a thicker patty would have been better. The brioche bun was soft and fresh. Hand cut fries were lightly salted and fried perfectly light brown. I love that everything is farm to table, freshly made, and flavorful! I absolutely recommend !

Yelp
We arrived for a late lunch and were seated much sooner than the half-hour wait we were initially told. The hostess was very friendly. I ordered the cheese soup and wings, both of which were delicious. I also enjoyed some of my child's fries, which were tasty as well. However, the menu could use more options, as it was challenging to find something that really appealed to my appetite. FYI: The beverage options weren't very kid friendly and there is a children's menu but it's not written anywhere. The atmosphere was lively and busy.

Lee M.

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly. I liked the oldies music they played, not too loud. Had the pâté sandwich, subbed salad for fries. Good move. Very nice salad not just greens and a light citrusy dressing. Sandwich was excellent, cornichon and greens, mustard. Only thing I'd change is next time I'd order mustard on the side. Best meal I've had here so far!

Adam L.

Yelp
Service 5 stars Selection was good Beer choices excellent Food excellent Not too loud Indoor and outdoor seating AC perfect. Prices $$

Jessica A.

Yelp
Delicious + healthy food. Friendly staff. Warm inviting atmosphere. Recommend the 'Patio trio' entree especially for vegetarians. Absolutely delicious

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. What a delicious meal we had here. Truly the only disappointment was seeing the poster for the speakeasy downstairs that had nothing different than what was upstairs. Other than that, would absolutely recommend.

Patti C.

Yelp
Nice place to grab a bunch of appetizers or a good meal . Staff is friendly and services is good. Food is tasty. Oysters were fresh and the cheddar cheese soup was delicious. The blue cheese bread is very rich and tasty. The wings were crisp and had great dry rub . Lots of families and casual dress here make it a family friendly restaurant

Alvin M.

Yelp
Local farm to table restaurant with a great selection of craft Vermont beers on tap. Food was simple but fresh and tasty. Server was very friendly. There were no reservations online but my group of two were seated immediately on arrival.

Jay M.

Yelp
Had dinner of the Adams farm chicken leg special which had onion rings, kale , potatoes Nothing i'd order again... I thought was a chicken breast on spinach Anyway... 34.00 for entree? Fiddlehead beer saved the meal... I needed more dinner options. Burgers looked ok, but looked unremarkable.

Lloyd D.

Yelp
Very good service and staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. I'd walked by once before and it looked crowded and didn't try it. Today I thought I'd give it a shot. Got seated quickly. I ordered the salmon entree. The salmon was cooked perfectly tender and juicy. My only criticism is the asparagus had pieces that were overcooked. The interior is a little small with a nice bar. Bar had some empty seats but they were a little close. Otherwise this is a great option for some good food. Menu is varied with great options .

Gabrielle T.

Yelp
Ambiance was great (I sat outside). I will say that the inside had a strong smell of fish but the patio was lovely and had heaters to keep warm. No loud blaring music, quick service. Food was decent, nothing to write home about but I'd still recommend!

Liam C.

Yelp
The food was very good and we got our appetizers almost immediately. The Mac and cheese appetizer was very good. Service was also good, the staff were all very nice. The ambience was perfect it wasn't too loud but wasn't too quiet.

Yelp
Checked out this place in Burlington after going past it a few times before. It has a lot of locally made ingredients and the food is pretty fresh as a result. The Farmhouse is a long time favorite among locals in town. Kind of classy but casual and not crazy expensive. You can get a pretty affordable light lunch such as a salad. Best place to go if looking for food plus many of the local beers. It's got quite a few on tap. There's certainly a great variety. It's about $7 a pint for local beers. Pretty comparable to many places. Got a pint of the Lawson's Sip Of Sunshine, an IPA with notes of juicy tropical fruit. We weren't as impressed with the food, but it was fresh though. It's about $14 for the Roasted Roots Salad. Pretty expensive to get just this. Much of the rest of the menu is meaty. They have a vegetarian burger that's pricy though. Good local beers and food. It's pretty crowded so it's apparently popular. The prices can be high but not ridiculously high, but everything here is made locally, and it's a good place for supporting the community and whatever.

Yelp
Great food and great service! I love their beet salad. You might see a crazy naked guy run by while dining in like we did but supposedly that's ok in Vermont (idk) if you leave your house naked according to one of the customers but I'm sure they were just pulling everyone's tail

Ravon H.

Yelp
Heard some mixed review about the Farmhouse from some of the people in my class that I came to Burlington to attend. Some said the food was ok and the atmosphere was rather pretentious. Maybe it was the time of day they went but my experience was good. Came in for lunch and just wanted a burger. It wasn't crowded at all on a weekday around noon so my friends and I were seated right away. It's a cute little restaurant. They have an outdoor area that probably looks awesome in the summer but it was closed for the fall when we went. The waitress was friendly and brought out some water right away. After she told us the daily specials we placed our orders. We all got different burgers. The menu was typical American bar type food. Service was quick as it didn't take Henry long for the burgers to come out. My burger was good. I went for a basic bacon cheeseburger. It came with toppings and a side of fries. The burger was nice a medium like I like it topped with white American cheese and crispy thick cut bacon. I didn't want the lettuce tomato and onion. Fries weren't very good. A little hard and overcooked to me. They didn't have as much seasoning on them as I would have preferred. I used some salt and pepper from the table but still didn't really like them. Overall good service and a garage food. I would give them a 3.5. Nothing bad but not among my favorites.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Awful. We came here on high reviews from yelp and some other random folk in the city. It is, at best, mediocre. The best thing by a mile was the cornbread.. everything else was near inedible including the atrocious cocktails. We understand it's a beer joint primarily but my goodness were these horrendous. Entrees were the turkey burger and the (special) bratwurst. Perhaps the most flavorless turkey burger we've ever tried. The brawt's were worse than store bought Johnsonville. No juice at all and dryer than boiled chicken in plain tap water. Burlington had solid food at most spots but this is without a doubt a giant avoid at all costs. Staff were fine, not their fault the food sucked so hard.

Shayna T.

Yelp
We came on a beautiful Tuesday night and had no problem securing an outdoor spot. The waitstaff were kind and helpful and the food was delicious. Being gluten-free, I got my burger on a bed of kale instead of on a bun. I also got a salad instead of fries and had plenty of greens to go around, as you can see from my plate. My burger was absolutely delicious.

Patricia Z.

Yelp
First time going. Found it on TikTok. Cute place. Near church street. Service was good. Cocktails and food were great. Would recommend if you are in Vermont.

Andy W.

Yelp
Great food and nice people Recommend when you have extra time to wait No complaints None

Emily W.

Yelp
Not a place at all for anyone with allergies! The reviews all seemed positive for those who are gluten-free. I had the opposite experience. They brought me food with gluten not once but twice. The first time I requested that they confirm it was gluten-free and they checked with the kitchen and assured me that it was. When I compared my meal with those the table who were not gluten-free, it was exactly the same. Fortunately I was skeptical and caught the error before I ate anything but was completely unacceptable. They then corrected the error by bringing me another meal with gluten croutons on it. After all of this, nothing was even comped. Will stay away when I am in Burlington.

Jason B.

Yelp
The food was average, the building was beautiful. We got caught at a shift change so service was a bit delayed.

Johna G.

Yelp
We were hoping for oysters, but learned they are only served for dinner. Our servers gave us time to decide if we could put a lunch together that would make us happy. We started with a Dirty Smugglers Martini. The delicious Parsnip and Apple Bisque was next. Then the P.E.I. Muscles. Everything was quick and tasty. We'll be back!

Jen C.

Yelp
One of our favorites in Burlington! This time we sat at the bar for apps and a drink. The bartender was super friendly and had great suggestions. We ended up with the tomato salad and buttermilk biscuits which were both delicious. They have a great cocktail menu and again the bartenders rec was spot on. I went with Another Pink Drink which was so different and delicious! Definitely check this place out.

Lori T.

Yelp
Nice bar and our bartender was so helpful with our selections. Loved that they had local liquors, we tried the mad river maple cask rum and Queen City oatmeal extra stout. Definitely will try to come back for dinner.

Matt B.

Yelp
Took my wife to lunch here today and was very disappointed by the choices on the lunch menu. I got a basic burger and the wife go fish and chips. The burger had an off taste like the meat was not good. I couldn't finish it. The wife's fish and chips were no Cooked all the way. The fish was still mushy and the breading was so thick it was not done either.

Renee H.

Yelp
Stopped here on our way to Lake Champlain and glad we did. Got right in early on a Saturday evening. Cocktails were excellent! Service very good. I had the chicken dish and was really surprised. Tender chicken over spinach and baked beans with maple syrup. Also served with cornbread-also with maple syrup. A combination I will repeat at home. Really enjoyed it!

Kate H.

Yelp
This maybe due to sitting in their downstairs bar since upstairs was packed and they had no room at the bar. I asked the bartender how a few things were on the menu and he said he didn't recommend getting those. He did recommend the burger which I ordered with no bacon by the time I got it the fries and burger were warm-ish. Maybe it a better burger with bacon? I was very unimpressed. You do have to go to the bar or serve yourself for water, get sauce, get a box, and request the check so it felt very fast casual without that pricing. I would not recommend sitting downstairs the group there was very vulgar and explicit.

Matt J.

Yelp
Wow they have incredible options to choose from. Brunch on the weekends are offered. I highly recommend getting their orange juice! It is out of this world. My party ordered fish and chips, chicken wings, and cheddar soup. The fish was great. The fries were also good. Chicken wings are a dry rub! Cheddar soup was phenomenal. Wait was only 10 mins to be seated on a Saturday around 11am. Bathrooms are clean and kept up! However for the prices Burlington has more to offer.

Emily F.

Yelp
While visiting Burlington, we stopped by this venue for some food and craft beer. My son and husband split the muscles with French fries and the fish and chips while I had the pork burger. All were delicious. The outside patio (beer garden) was a wonderful seating option, and the retractable overhead screen/roof was enjoyable, allowing us to view the sky while we ate. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Paul B.

Yelp
I've been in Burlington for a few days now & this place is always busy. I finally snuck in for lunch & WOW. Great burger & fries! Excellent selection of beers to enjoy! Friendly staff. Front runner for best burger in Burlington! Get it medium rare!

Cheryn R.

Yelp
Nice beer selection and delicious food. We ordered the cheddar ale soup, it was delicious especially to dip French fries. Nice and thick with a sharp cheese flavor. My turkey burger was perfectly cooked and the apply slaw had minimal vinegar and wasn't too sweet. The cheese was melty and fries were crunchy and fresh. My friend's burger was also perfectly grilled and served with bacon and a lightly flavored ranch. The buns were fresh. Both burgers are big enough to share or satisfy a hearty appetite. Was sure to let the bartender know the food was wonderful.

Jim R.

Yelp
Looked for a lunch place and read the recent reviews. Got nervous reading the one that seemed to accuse the place of causing sickness, but after reading the vast majority of positive reviews, we said we'd give it a try. We had great service, enjoyed a deep and wide beer list and enjoyed our food immensely. Very comfortable vibe with a reasonable noise level that allows for a nice conversation.

Grace W.

Yelp
the food is nothing special/different than what you can find elsewhere in burly. the wait half the time for a table, even for two, is crazy long. i'd try and get a reservation before coming. there are a ton of tables inside and it just seems kinda crowded but that's just me.

Mark C.

Yelp
Very busy place with a long wait on a Monday night. Only open seating was bar area with a limited menu. We all got different hamburgers. The size of the burger was about half the diameter of the bun. Mine was supposed to be Carolina bbq. Burger was ok but no bbq flavor at all. Seems more hype then real

Xenia M.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best restaurants in Burlington! I left feeling so satisfied with my meal. Who knew Vermont could serve up some authentic southern style cuisine. I ordered the shrimp and grits, onion rings, and apple pie a la mode. Everything was made fresh! The onion rings were probably some of the best I've had. The shrimp and grits were AMAZING! Definitely highly recommend. It had great creole flavor and a nice kick of spice. Overall, make sure you stop here -- you will not be disappointed!

Amanda Z.

Yelp
Great vibes, great menu that has unique food offerings. Service was fantastic and friendly. Thank you for lovely evening.

Bryan K.

Yelp
Worst experience ever!!!! Signed up for waiting an hour It was an hour and a half .... Then was seated outside in the cold along with 12 empty tables ....and the stench of a sewer - ....in the rain!!!!! The manager then complained ed about 146 reservations ... and did nothing to help ... and she "can't control the sewer smell" For the hour and a half we were at the restaurant and there were empty tables everywhere in the restaurant Absolutely the worst service ever There is more ..... my message is Stay away!!!!!! Rude screw the customer tude..... Me thinks not !!!!!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Our least favorite meal after a week in Vermont. Very much one of those meals that felt like a waste of money (and calories lol). Our Airbnb host recommended it, so that's the reason we decided to check it out. Our reservation was at an awkward time of 3:45 PM. The restaurant wasn't crowded at this time, and we were seated quickly. I asked the server if they had Mac-n-cheese (since I saw it listed in other reviews), and she said they do but only for dinner which starts at 4 PM. We told her we were fine waiting until 4 PM to order then if needed. It was such a weird interaction, and she left and never came back to help us. Around 4:10 PM, another waitress finally came to check on us and take our order. We got the onion rings, an order of chicken wings, and the Mac-n-cheese. The onion rings were fresh and crispy but lacked soooo much flavor. That continued to be the case for the chicken wings and Mac-n-cheese. We were shocked but how bland and flavorless everything was. I added salt, pepper, and even BBQ sauce to the Mac-n-cheese trying to make it taste like something at all. My husband kept adding extra sauce to the chicken wings trying to help it. Nothing special whatsoever and definitely not worth the price tags. Would not recommend.

Sarina Z.

Yelp
This spot was recommended by a local boutique employee, and was a great lunch option. Despite being very busy, they were able to seat our party of 6 fairly quickly. Our server was friendly and accommodating to our needs. The fish & chips were delicious, as well as the steamed mussels and roasted roots salad. Would not recommend the cheddar ale soup, and the chicken salad salad could have had more chicken salad on it (had to ask for more, +$9).

Pablo N.

Yelp
We were seated quickly for brunch yesterday and the menus looked good, but that's where it ends! Our server was friendly, but obviously over whelmed... the food took 1 hour to arrive (we should have left), and when it did it wasn't good (looked like it would be great). Two of us have been sick throwing up and with the runs since yesterday afternoon... I recommend you NOT eat here... sorry this is one of my few bad/awful restaurant reviews in 10 years, as most restaurants are fabulous... I don't like it that I have to leave an awful review, but this was earned... and I would want to know when I look at reviews.
