The Fat Badger - Review - Notting Hill - London - The Infatuation

"The Fat Badger is a pub in the same way that a crown is a hat. The secretive British restaurant and bar aboveCanteeninNotting Hillhas garnered a reputation as a place for actors, politicians, and pop stars to hunker down and engage in what they believe to be totally run-of-the-mill pint-drinking. It isn’t. That said, this British restaurant cooks a blushing piece of sirloin and is a cosy bolthole for the Barbour jacket brigade." - Jake Missing

Ed Sheeran Opens a Bar on Portobello Road in Notting Hill, London | Eater London

"A bar opened by Ed Sheeran in Notting Hill quietly took over the former Galicia tapas spot at the top of Portobello Road where it meets Golborne Road. Listed on local licensing paperwork under a trading name, the venue doubles as a music space and reopened after renovations that began around June; Galicia’s black-and-Estrella Galicia branding has been replaced with a British racing green scheme and the doors were flung open recently. Reports have linked the pop star to the project — including a rumored £1.5 million purchase — and to another nearby venue, Gold on Portobello Road, in a silent capacity. Very little is publicly known about the new operation and it was not yet listed on Google at the time of reporting." - Adam Coghlan

A truly superb lunch experience at The Fat Badger! Set in the heart of Portobello, the bar area and restaurant offers a beautiful and welcoming setup that instantly sets the tone. The live music creates an atmosphere that feels both vibrant and relaxed, making it the perfect spot to unwind. The wine list is exceptional—carefully curated with something for every palate—and the service is nothing short of outstanding. The staff are kind, highly knowledgeable, and above all, wonderfully attentive without ever being intrusive. The food is simply outstanding: high-quality, delicious dishes that look effortless on the plate, yet clearly reflect a thoughtful and creative process in the kitchen. Every bite feels elevated and crafted with care. A place that ticks every box—ambience, service, wine, and food. An absolute must-visit in Notting Hill & Portobello!! I can’t wait to try the Dinner service on the top floor restaurant.

The Fat Badger: Trendy Pub Meets Refined Dining Perched on Golborne Road — one of West London’s coolest stretches — and discreetly set above Canteen (a charming spot in its own right for an easy lunch or dinner), The Fat Badger offers a dining experience that blends atmosphere, quality, and a touch of exclusivity. The venue is spread across two levels: the ground floor houses a trendy pub, buzzing with energy and serving a more casual weekend lunch, while the upstairs dining room is reserved for the restaurant proper, open in the evenings. The setting is cozy and intimate, with warm lighting, wood details, and a sense of occasion that makes the climb upstairs feel like an entry into a hidden club. The team is wonderfully welcoming, striking that fine balance between attentiveness and discretion that makes guests feel instantly at ease. The food follows a set-menu-only format, which adds an element of surprise and trust in the kitchen’s creativity. Lunch is three courses, while dinner extends to four, showcasing seasonal produce and inventive combinations that elevate familiar ingredients. The cooking is polished without being pretentious, with each plate showing both technical precision and personality. Prices are fair for the level of execution, and the experience feels both special and good value in the context of London dining. One detail worth noting: cancellations are not permitted within 24 hours of the reservation, which may be inconvenient for some, but is understandable given the small scale and curated nature of the service. Overall, The Fat Badger is a highly recommended destination — whether for a cozy weekend lunch in the pub downstairs or a more refined dinner upstairs. It combines charm, excellent cooking, and genuine hospitality in a way that makes it stand out on Golborne Road

The set menu is worth every pound. I keep coming back as this meal is addictive. The service is exceptional. Servings are well timed and portions are great! The Irish bread is definitely worth to be mentioned. Served with salted butter!

Delicious meal with an intimate vibe - loved each dish and the portions are well sized. The vibe in the bar downstairs is really cool and fun. Service was a bit of a miss for us, they mixed up a couple of the dishes, refused to move us to another table when we said we were feeling cold from the window nearby (despite the restaurant being empty for most of our dinner) and took a while between courses.

One of my fave recent meals - the pub itself is sort of hidden up some stairs next to another restaurant and has a bit of a secretive vibe. It also does a set menu for lunch and dinner which isn’t advertised anywhere. But just go with it. Service is very warm and friendly - they really do make you feel welcome and valued, and the wine list is excellent, as are the drinks generally. There’s live music too and food is lovely. Each course is timed perfectly and everyone gets the same thing, so once you’ve finished one thing there’s a short break before your next dish (or set of dishes). I love the concept, the interior and the general vibe. Will definitely return.

We celebrated our third anniversary here and it couldn’t have been more special. From the moment we arrived, the team greeted us with “happy anniversary” and even brought over complimentary bubbles. Our server, Nico, was fantastic – warm, attentive, and made the whole evening feel personal. The food was beautiful: fresh, creative, and plentiful – we left absolutely full but wishing we could have just one more bite. The desserts were a highlight, and we loved the thoughtful touch of receiving the menu afterwards with a handwritten message on the back. The pub itself is beautiful with a lovely ambience, and after dinner we headed downstairs to the bar where a brilliant live band was playing – the perfect way to round off the night. A truly memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend it enough.

Amazing 10/10. Went on a weeknight and the atmopshere was so good. Waiter comes to greet you and forms a menu based on the table’s taste. The experience is very unique and the food was delicious. Sharing experience. On the floor below they have a pub which plays a live band from Thurs-Sat.

Surprised lunch set menu - not recommend to who not game meat (we got rabbit and guineafowls) We were walked-in, no reservations on Saturday lunch around 12:20pm and got the table. The reception explained the concept and took us to the table. Wine are ok, lend to more expensive side (cheapest was £10) Food is amazing, well prepared, taste really good. Rabbit tacos are super juicy and aromatics. Nonetheless, the dessert is the BEST - peach caramelized tart is out of this world
