"Any bar savant has probably spent several nights at The Felix (it's from the people behind the fancy-ish Vietnamese spot Bodega SF). Inspired by speakeasies, to enter, you have to push the framed photo and head through the door that leads downstairs. This loungey den has a never-ending supply of cool: neon red lights, big yellow booths, a small dance floor, and a DJ. Since the crowd is usually calm, expect to groove with an Asian-inflected highball with no worries of spilling." - julia chen 1, patrick wong, lani conway, ricky rodriguez
"This hidden Union Square speakeasy under Bodega SF (which requires pressing a framed photo of a guy named Felix for access) is usually a sultry bar with Vietnamese-influenced drinks like a phở broth and beef fat cocktail. But on event nights, The Felix is fit for dancing until the wee hours of the night. Once the bouncer lets you inside, you'll descend a glowing blue staircase that leads to a cavern of disco, R&B, and hip-hop. The scene is electric. People dance like smartphones haven’t been invented yet and snuggle up in yellow booths. Check out their Instagram for the most up-to-date dance party info." - ricky rodriguez
"Getting into this not-so-secret bar in Union Square by the Bodega SF team is simple: at the door, press on the framed photo of Felix, a server from the restaurant’s past (he’s unrelated to the neon Felix the Cat out front). After the door swings open, a glowing blue staircase beckons. Head down into the basement-level bar with moody red lighting and plush yellow booths, where the rolled-up beanie crowd bumps elbows to the tunes of a rotating roster of DJs. If you find yourself fading, order the “Cheeky,” a shot-sized cocktail with Vietnamese coffee from the Asian-inflected menu." - julia chen 1, lani conway, patrick wong, ricky rodriguez
"This basement level bar near Union Square is keeping things going until 2am with a lineup of DJs, a special menu of Asian-influenced cocktails, and appetizers from their sister restaurant, Bodega SF. If you want a real meal beforehand, snag a table at Bodega for an excellent Northern Vietnamese spread (they’ll be serving their normal a la carte menu all night) and then head downstairs to The Felix for the post-dinner festivities. Admission is $45 per person. " - julia chen 1
"A newish Union Square bar, the Felix's Instagram stories confirm that after a massive Civic Center concert the headliners Skrillex and Fred Again made their way there and hung out, even cooking beats at the vibey underground companion club to Bodega." - Paolo Bicchieri
