How DarSalam’s Owner Defied the Odds and Opened Two New Restaurants in 2020 | Eater Portland

"Housed in a tiny, curio‑cabinet of a space right on Fields Park in the Pearl District, this takeout‑focused location served pickled mango salad flecked with parsley, little doughnut‑shaped falafel tucked into flatbread, and saucy braised lamb shanks over rice with eggplant stew; its surprising success convinced Sahib to open additional small, grab‑and‑go outposts." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Great little urban park in the pearl district. Has a large grassy middle area (currently not an available due to construction but will return) park sometimes hosts events like beer brew festivals etc. on one end there’s fenced in off leash dog areas that are great, there’s some kids play areas on opposite side for younger ones. An outdoor bathroom (not always open however) and a walking pathway around the park which takes up a city block. Surrounding area is full of restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, public transportation and two additional parks are within two blocks of this one.

Nice park for taking a walk. Large circle with Shell sculptures around it. All of the dogs were very well behaved. Lots of deciduous trees including many Ginkgo Biloba which is becoming more populous in the Portland area.

This is the worst dog park that we have ever visited. It is small, no grass with bad drainage. The soil is like crushed cat litter and smells the same. It is an embarrassment to have this be the only off leash dog area in the Pearl. The main park was nice until they tore much of it up over 18 months ago with no end in sight. Just recently, with no explanation, they have fenced off what was left of the grassy area of the park. Sad.

Beautiful green space with a little something for everyone. I visited on a weekend afternoon and it was quite lively with people jogging, walking their dogs, playing with kids, or chatting in a bench. The train tracks running the side of the park, the red brick building with a rooftop water tower and the Fremont Bridge close by all give the park an post-industrial vibe that I enjoy a lot.

The Fields Park is a stunning public park in Portland's Pearl District. It boasts a large open field, playground, picnic areas, and a covered pavilion. Its unique features include an interactive water feature and public art piece, all designed with sustainability in mind. The park offers a serene and inviting space to connect with nature while enjoying breathtaking city views and the Fremont bridge.

It had been a while, and I still love the peaceful environment of this park. Fields park is always clean and quiet. A wonderful place to relax and dog watch. The dogs love walking around and meeting new smells and friends.

Beautiful area to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, a picnic lunch, or play with you dog! The entire area is clean new urban vibe.

Field's Park has great playground for kids. It has a sand pit for younger children and a rope course for older children. The path to the slide is accessible with some assistance to younger children. The park has a large grassy area with a sidewalk path to go around. Great place for dogs and kids.
