The Flat

Pretty small indoors but they do have a outdoor patio. Drinks were decently priced. Frozen mojito was delicious. Inside is pretty cool as well. Parking is a hassle though as they don't have a parking lot, you have to find street parking and that's always a hassle. Overall a cool place

Never did I ever feel the need to write down a review until my experience last night at the flat. I've been a regular for years and have never had such a nasty and disrespectful experience. This was due to one female bartender. At first everything was great and fun, fast forward to them turning on the lights... no mention of tabs needing to be closed (although this bartender claims the dj said so). I went up to close my tab and she stated I was to late. Past 2:05am they automatically charge all tabs not closed out 20% gratuity. I asked what time it was and she said 2:05am, I said may I close out my tab... she claimed I was to late. I brushed it off and mentioned it to my friends who felt this was a new policy. I then went to talk to another bartender about this policy and he was more open to my concern over this issue. This female bartender then hears me talking to the other bartender and steps in... inappropriate, extremely defensive and had the nerve to tell me "ow you can't tip 20%". This comment alone was so distasteful and had nothing to do with why I asked and brought it up to the other bartender. HE was understanding and took my feedback about letting guests know they do automatic charges past 5 minutes of closing. This really made our group question coming back to such a loved establishment but with people who treat guests like I was last night who knows when we'll feel okay to go back.

The vibe here was fantastic. We brought our dog and made lots of friends. Got quite full by midnight. Tasty drinks.

Music and food have always been good here. The staff tho, straight garbage, there used to be some good ones that worked here in the past but the new hires overcharge at the bar and staff is rude for no reason. The bartender arguing with my friend that they announce at 2:05 they add automatic gratuity of 30% which is a lie cause no one said anything. Only the lights were turned on for last call

I went on a Wednesday (Reggae night) night. I had an amazing time. Great people (dancing), good service, great drinks (reasonable price) and I heard the food was good.

Was there Friday night. Bar was inside empty. Outside half capacity. Pretty low energy overall. Full casual style. Valet parking is mandatory $9…not a fan.

I am passionate about this spot. I love it. It is one of my absolute favorite places in Houston. I always meet interesting people, the drinks are well blended and reasonably priced. The music is the biggest treasure. It is most certainly my happy place.

Food is pizza, I love it. Drinks are great, but my favorite is the frozen mojito!! OMG, it's delicious. This is a small spot that centers around having a live DJ. Some of the DJs travel from around the world. DJ Sun owns the place. He is well known in Houston. I think this place has been there for over 30 years. They have a great patio outside. This is a great place to go as a group or alone. They even have coffee for the first part of the day. The bartender told me they were starting the brunch back up so look out for that, I know I will.
