The bar maid was super friendly. The drinks were really good. And my highlight is that they have drinks that are vegan. I'm definitely going back. The food was good too.

RUN, do not walk, to Flying Fox Tavern for their vegan stuffed French toast. The day I went, which was a few weeks ago, was Peaches and Cream. This was the best French toast I've ever had. It's basically this gorgeous block of the lightest fluffiest French toast. The size intimidated me at first but I had absolutely no trouble finishing it. I've never had French toast served this way but I can never go back to the regular kind. It's light, airy, and delicious. AND VEGAN. They have really great vegan options here. My fiancé, who is not vegan, had their breakfast sandwich which she really liked. Plus the service was so friendly - our server was super kind and made our experience so nice. We will definitely be back.

I stopped in to the Flying Fox on a whim after looking for some spots to have dinner a couple friends and was blown away. The atmosphere inside is SUBERBLY horror/vampire themed in a way that feels a lot more authentic than some similar places. The drinks and food were delicious and I would recommend their brussel sprouts, burgers, and their fried fish sandwich. If you need a great place to hang and watch some old French b-horror movies, on’t miss this spot!

Great surprise! Stopped in for a drink, stayed for hours. Great vibe, horror movies playing while DJ pumps out the tunes. We didn't eat, as it was last call for the kitchen, but the items I saw looked good. Drinks were large, strong, and reasonable. Staff was great, everyone was so friendly. Good crowd, no issues. This was my first time stopping in, but not my last!

I've been to Flying Fox a couple of times before and have enjoyed myself. But last night was a major letdown. We went to to experience their Burns Night celebration. (It's a holiday in Scotland celebrating their national poet, Robert Burns.) First, even though we had a reservation, we were seated at the bar. It was crammed and uncomfortable—not the kind of seating you'd expect when you plan ahead. The space was so loud that we could barely hear the music, which was supposed to be a big part of the night. And the food was overpriced and underwhelming—$22 for vegan haggis?! The whole atmosphere felt chaotic and poorly planned. It should have been festive and enjoyable, but instead, it was stressful and disappointing. I wouldn't come back for an event but might consider coming back for just drinks.

Very nice vintage horror movie atmosphere. Nice large bar with nice table seating setup for groups. The food options are great. Love when a spot has actual vegan options of appetizers, main courses and even desserts, other than a salad. The staff are welcoming and helpful. My friends love coming for their mixed cocktails and I come for the food every time I'm in the area.

Literally one of the best kept secrets in all of New York. Food, drinks, staff, music, and the horror decorations are all on point. This is legit one of the best goth bars I’ve ever been to in the world. I can’t recommend this place enough. Once you come here, you’ll keep coming back!

I can't say enough good things about this place. We've gone here for dinner (the food is amazing and there are tons of vegetarian / vegan options) and drinks (cocktails are all good and they have a good beer selection), we've brought our seven year old for brunch (coffin shaped grilled cheese sandwiches!), we've taken friends here for drinks, and we've gone later to watch horror movies and play "Blood Bingo" hosted by Unkle Spooky. Everything about this place is perfect. The staff are really nice too - it's got a very welcoming community feel to it.

SUPER FUNSIE SPOT! I've been eyeing Flying Fox for a very long time. This Goth bar was making waves across Queens and I knew I had to get there ASAP. What better time than on my Intern Lauren's last day. One last adventure to close the year out. And I'm glad we did it here. Spots at the bar were found, and drink menus were given a glance. All of a sudden, a woman started speaking on a mic, and we realized we walked smack into a trivia night. I wasn't mad about it because it gave the spot a really fun atmosphere. Lauren and I chatted it up at the bar while enjoying the friendly competition amongst the patrons. Onto the drinks, which were really good. Lauren ordered off the traditional cocktail menu which had funky names like Nosferatu and The Count. Those were the two that she had and she enjoyed both of them immensely. The count even comes with a demonstration. I won't give away what it is, you'll have to go and see for yourself. I got the hot chocolate special and although it was delicious, it was missing a cream aspect to it. Nothing a shot of Bailey's couldn't fix. I was trying to find something else to drink after my hot chocolate. I still wanted chocolate, but I wasn't sure how to go about drinking something that wasn't the hot chocolate they featured. So when I talked to the friendly bartender about what I wanted, she ended up making me a really delicious chocolate martini, and was really gracious in making sure I liked it and that it wasn't too sweet. It was actually perfect. The menu looks pretty dope and they had a lot of gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. Down to try some food here next time because there will be a next time very soon.

The Flying Fox is a really great spooky themed bar that my friends and I frequent for their specialty cocktails. All the bar staff and servers are super friendly and really make the vibe even more inviting and fun. Love the theming of all the drinks as well as the bar area inside and outside (they have coffin shaped tables on their patio and a fun mural that really give the place a unique personality). I've tried the Count and several of their other special cocktails (their take on the hot toddy can't be missed) and everything has always been tasty and flavorful. This is a Ridgewood MUST visit!

The Flying Fox Tavern in Ridgewood, Queens, is one of my favorite local haunts (no pun intended). Classic horror decor in this pub and restaurant. The owner, chef, servers and bartenders are so down to earth and fun. Goth and alternative folks in the neighborhood, welcome home. Everyone else, you'll also love it. The food is delicious. My personal favorites off of the menu is their brick chicken (although right now they're featuring jerk chicken). To drink, try the Nandor! I come here for their spooky horror markets, and I've also hosted get togethers of friends here. My kids love the food and ambiance, as well. So much so, that I rented the entire place for my 9-year-old's Monster Mash themed birthday party. I hope the Flying Fox is here for years to come!

I would recommend this spot for their unique drink options, especially if you're a looking for a low-key night out. Their aesthetic is cool and I have liked their service each time I've eaten here. I am a fan of most their cocktails, their burger entree is also delicious.

The Flying Fox Tavern exceeded my expectations. I just assumed it was like any other neighborhood bar. But this one stood out for its spooky atmosphere and excellent service. This place is unique in that it serves food and drinks with horror movie-inspired names and shows scary films on their TV screens. The decor is spooky and fun. I didn't try the food, but I have heard great things about it.

I know it's Halloween, but my boyfriend and I decided to try out this place to get a cocktail. The place wasn't that crowded so I sat down at a table while my boyfriend was at the bar placing our orders. He waited there and was being ignored by the female bartender who was just chatting it up with her friends. He stood there for a good 7 minutes and she didn't even acknowledge him. I told him that we should go and we did. They lost new money and potentially returning customers. How about you tell the bartenders to not to yap it up with their friends and acknowledge people who want to buy cocktails and put money in a local business.

The decor, the music and the food was all incredible. The staff was super friendly. The drinks were amazing. I highly recommend checking it out. Especially if you're a fan of horror films.

I vant to suck your blooddddd! No but really, our goth wait is finally over! We have been looking for a silver moon lining to this world and here it is. Flying Fox Tavern is the new gothic pub in Ridgewood that opened it's castle doors this Wednesday. Ridgewood is a locals neighborhood. People wanna go to an extension of their living room...in this case the coffin. There is a gothic theme to this bar with vintage horror movie posters (provided by the Phantom Creep himself) and incredible mural work by Shane Morton. You truly feel like you are in Dracula's castle when sitting on the south side of the bar. The menu is foodie-centric and fun. I've never had haggis in my life and they make a killer vegetarian version that is perfect for cold winter months. The starters, I would recommend the black bean dip with the beet chips. You can also never go wrong with the oysters, especially at happy hour prices. I am pescatarian so it was nice to have a fish option. I enjoyed the perfectly fried fish, with some slaw and a brioche bun and a side of greens. I will have to go the tofu route the next round. Since, they are still awaiting their liquor license the mocktails were on display. I like either herb and ginger mocktails but in this case the Nandor (named after popular character in "what we do in the shadows") was calling my name. Some chocolate and espresso was like an adult Frappuccino without all the sugar and dairy. I thought it was a perfect partner to the skull in a box, an ode to the film Se7en and it's tragic ending. I am a huge Black Forest cake gurl and it was perfection. It could not have been a better ENDing to our night. I will also have to mention the music made me miss the goth dancing! Hopefully we will be able to shake our tail tailfeathers here soon. Hot tip - check out the bathrooms! EYE DARE YA! I will be back for more fun sooner than later. A burger to die for, fantastic mocktails, excellent coffee and fun events- truly couldn't ask for more! Excellent neighborhood spot

First time having brunch here and Flying Fox does not disappoint with the brunch cocktails and food! We had the Elvira Bloody Mary and the Nosferatu espresso cocktail as well as the salmon benedict and stuffed french toast with apples. Such fresh, creative entrees and cocktails. Great bartender, Ellie, who always provides excellent service and conversation!

The atmosphere is great with a horror movie usually on the TV sets, though the sound might be down in favor of music. The staff are professional and friendly. The food is excellent. I often go for the happy hour oysters.

This place has a creepy, cool, horror themed vibe, within a cozy tavern space that serves up local Ridgewood charm.

Awesome atmosphere, friendly servers, yummy food. It was my first time there, and I will definitely be back, with others in tow!

The decor is great! The food was surprisingly excellent. When the Chef took my clean plate away, he jokingly commented how obviously I didn't enjoy it. They also have a projector playing movies all night long. This is a new favorite and I can't wait to come back.

Place looks cool, but the burger was not good and the male bartender... the worst I've encounter. Everything he touched was landing on a floor, kept making mistake drinks again and again, was rude, and had a bad attitude like tred to be cool too hard. The other time I went, there was a lound drag show and impossible to talk. I switched to aunt Ginny next door and happy to never go back.

I love this place! Being a classic horror movie fan, the look and decorations of the place speaks to me. The cocktails are delicious, I LOVE the Vampira. The food is always incredible! I recommend any of the burgers, but never pass on the specials! The staff is super kind, polite, and you can tell that they're fellow horror fans that love being there as much as I do.

Best burger I've ever had!!! Best fish sandwich I've ever had!!! The staff and owners are beyond wonderful, the drinks are absolutely delicious... i love the Iron Maiden beer they carry and just had the Bloody Mary, which was absolutely divine. I cannot recommend this place enough. the music, the vibe...all of it makes my heart happy. 100 stars and 10,000 thumbs up!!!!

I was really excited to have another spot in Ridgewood with vegan options, and I suggested that my boyfriend and I stop by on a Wednesday night for a couple drinks and sandwiches since The Acre wasn't open. We were sat at a high top with a direct view into the kitchen, and I was pretty put off immediately by the chef constantly texting on his phone then touching the food with his bare hands, but I decided to brush it off. We got our appetizer and as I was taking my first bite, I watched the chef open a fresh bag of burger buns, drop one on the floor, and I expected him to ignore it and get a new one (I've worked in many restaurants and food drops all the time - you leave it and move on). Instead, he searched for it, picked it up, cut it, and put it on the grill to be served to customers. I was completely disgusted and pulled the server aside to let her know what happened, she asked if we wanted to cancel our order and we did, she comped our drinks, and we left. All the while the burgers continued to be put together in the kitchen using the floor-bun, and the chef was not pulled aside to dispose of the burgers. I'm sure the food tastes good, but we noticed there isn't a DOH rating at the front of the restaurant either. Won't be giving them a second chance.

I brought a large group of friends here to celebrate my birthday and we had a great time! Really enjoyed the food. Staff was kind and attentive, fun atmosphere and great music.

My husband and I ate and drank at The Flying Fox a few weeks ago. Holy mother, the vegan food is phenomenal! We had the vegan haggis and vegan quiche. I'm looking forward to another visit. Its not often I can eat vegan food at a great bar.

A perfect mix of fun horror theme + fantastic food/drink! Service is on point, and the owners (Chad & Tracy) are delightful. Went for brunch.. stayed for dinner! Had the Linden Hill burger and fried artichokes appetizer. Both are amazing. Do yourself a favor- try the Akasha cocktail. To die for!! Can't wait to revisit this Ridgewood gem!

Great little goth/punk haunt in ridgewood. Always love a place that keeps a subculture alive. Good music, fun decor and small but mighty menu. Drinks were quite creative. Ordered the burger and the portion was great, came with a salad and a side of chips. Would definitely come back here again, bartenders were quite nice and I believe comped a drink for me last time I was there.

Just had an excellent brunch late on a Sunday! Great service, good music, and the salmon eggs was perfect. Bar selection awesome.

Had high hopes for this place as I loved the idea of a goth bar / restaurant. They were playing all my favorite music but the oysters we ordered ($3 a piece?) had sand and broken shells in each one. We ordered some shepherd pies and the servings were literally half of what I was expecting for $20 a piece. Paid $90 + tip for 6 oysters, two drinks and two pies but left a bit underwhelmed/disappointed and felt it wasn't worth it. Maybe will try again in the future if they add more stuff or change the prices.

I live a block away and frequent this place. Great establishment that has always demonstrated true professionalism.

"Special" is the word I'd use for the Fox. Yes, it's a neighborhood-centric pub in a "hip" (or soon to be hip) neighborhood, but that's not what it's about. It has style, it has character and damn good food too. Take the comfort of a pub with a goth flare, but don't be afraid of the dark. The Flying Fox welcomes all. Do try a house cocktail(non-alcoholic options available), the Shepherd's Pie, the vegan haggis, the fried artichoke and, of course, the oysters.

I have now come to the Flying Fox Tavern several times, and I LOVE it here! Super friendly staff, amazingly creative and unique cocktails AND mocktails, and a shockingly good food menu and chef! The gothic/horror theme throughout the tavern is so much fun. TVs are showing some cult classics such as Beetlejuice, Killer Clowns from Outer Space, etc. Even the bathrooms are all decked out in theme. You will spot something new on display every time you're here. The standard menu is amazing. I am thrilled they have oysters!! So good! The fried artichokes are DELISH, the vegan haggis is amazing (unexpected but true!), and if you are a fan of the movie "Seven," treat yourself and order the Black Forest Cake for dessert (trust me)! Also - don't overlook the menu specials! I had a fantastic catfish meal and it was out of this world!! They even have a brunch, I have not been yet, but will for sure be checking it out! Staff really do go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Special events that sometimes include a price fixe menu will keep you coming back (Burns Night, Friday the 13th) - so watch their social media for announcements. I don't even live in the neighborhood, but will travel for the great food and drinks and the excellent vibe! The inclusive menu options make it a great spot for EVERYONE - drinkers and non-drinkers alike will love the cocktails and mocktails. Vegans and meat-eaters have lots of menu options to choose from. Such a great destination - I'm looking forward to my next visit to the Flying Fox Tavern already!
