I can't believe there aren't more ratings of this place. I found a deal on TripAdvisor and decided to take them up on the December special. Little did I know it was the catalyst for a fantastic trip.
Richard, Dina, and Chelsea were wonderful hosts. We could talk to them for hours. I showed up early so I could get oriented with the facilities, since my gf was driving separately and arriving late. It turns out we had the entire home to ourselves the first couple of nights. All of the decor, fixtures, etc are expertly curated and make for a stunning retro-modern take on this 1886 structure. We've traveled to Europe and all over California and this is truly a gem that I must've passed by hundreds of times without realizing.
The rooms are gorgeous and clean both literally and in style. The bidets have ruined us because I already bought two for our own home. The common areas are beautiful and cozy. Since it's so cold now and most shops in town close at 5pm, it's a perfect place to spend time. Normally, when we vacation, we like to be out as much as possible, but we were very content enjoying the house.
It's tucked away 2 block from the main drag, but it's very easy to walk into town, but just secluded enough for a nice, quiet, respite.
We weren't prepared for the quality of breakfast served each morning, either. Normally, from a B&B, you expect a generic continental type, but here, it's really more personally crafted to your diet. There's no menu, but it's definitely restaurant quality in how it's served.
It was too cold to take advantage of the pool and sauna, but I could see how we could enjoy coming back during warmer weather. You can tell Richard and Dina put everything into the renovation. There is no bad angle nor detail overlooked in the presentation.
If you truly want a unique experience in the heart of wine country, check out The Francis House. What they've done to transform the property is incredible.
