The Twin Cities’ Best Breweries With Outstanding Food | Eater Twin Cities

"Beer and brunch shine at Freehouse. The breakfast gnocchi — made with cream, basil pesto, mushrooms, fatty bacon, and poached eggs — is a gratifying meal. You can’t go wrong with the chilaquiles either, which are piled with crunchy, salty hashbrowns, mild chorizo, ancho sauce, and queso fresco — no insipid flavors here. There’s a reason the Freehouse won Large Brewpub Brewer of the Year in 2020 in the Great American Beer Festival. (It also won four different Great American Beer Festival awards for its Scotch ale, English-style brown ale, barley wine, and gose, all worthy choices to pair with a meal.)" - Louis Livingston-Garcia

Where to Drink Bombay Sapphire Sparkling Lemon in the Twin Cities | Eater

"It’s hard to tell which is bigger: this 13,000-square-foot North Loop brewpub or its menu. With dishes ranging from rotisserie chicken to burgers to shrimp tacos to spaghetti to all-day breakfast, the Freehouse has you covered for nearly any food group you can dream of. The hearty proteins and fried options are reliably good. But if you’re in the mood for something a bit lighter but no less filling, the beet salad is an excellent choice, sporting a zippy champagne vinegar dressing, tangy goat cheese, and plentiful roasted beets." - Cecilia Johnson

The Best Craft Breweries in Minneapolis North and North Loop Neighborhoods | Eater Twin Cities

"Unlike most other breweries and taprooms, The Freehouse pours other breweries beers alongside their own. That is how confident the team behind the “breakfast to beer” brewpub is in their steady stable of beers. The tap list features four constant beers (the Kolsch, IPA, Brown Ale, and Stout) as well as a rotating selection including a light Blueberry Blonde and a Belgian Golden Strong swimming with spices." - Eater Staff

Minneapolis food has been on point during this vacation. Came for the Yacht Club Music Festival and found some treasures of local food scene. The Freehouse is worthy of your time and dollars. In exchange you will get a meal that is full of flavors and filling. The diverse menu will delight anyone in your party.

It has been our tradition for the last 7 years to celebrate Mother's Day at Freehouse for breakfast. Reservations are easy, convenient and comes with less pressure in comparison to other restaurants on this day. We are parents of 3 young children who need some flexibility but also gravitate toward restaurants that are family friendly. It has been a pleasant experience every time. Inexpensive kid's menu options, friendly staff that understand the complexities of eating out with children, a great selection of gluten-friendly meals are always a bonus and enjoyable atmosphere indoors and on the patio. We keep coming back because they have been consistent and know what to expect while always treating us well as a family. We enjoy the diversity of patrons and appreciate being able to enjoy a nice meal with our kids.

The atmosphere was great, the bartender was very friendly, clean establishment, super user friendly menu, great selection of choices. The Baja bowl was good, the short rib dip was hot, fresh, and au jus was 👌. We also had the cheese curds that was served with applesauce. Ya'll. Listen. I would have never guessed applesauce with cheese curds would be good, but my lord it was the perfect flavor combination in my mouth! Bloody mary had a beer chaser, and a great selection of home brews. If I was a local, I'd be back for everything on the menu!

I have been here on three occasions in the last six months. Each visit greeted me with amazing food, wonderful staff and a playful atmosphere. The manager was very attentive and professional. I love visiting whenever I go to the cities to see a Wolves or Loons game

My boyfriend and I came here from a coupon we had from CityTins. We both loved the cool and fun atmosphere of their outdoor patio space. We both got drinks (alcohol, beer, and THC mix) that we loved. He got the short ribs and I got the mac and cheese. The mac was incredibly cheesy with an extra pop from the mushrooms. We will definitely be back for more drinks, apps, good food, and cozy environment.

June 2025 was my second time hosting a client private event for 45 guests at the Freehouse. The event coordinator, Shanna, did an amazing job from planning to finish. l loved our servers Liz and Aria - they were able to serve efficiently while presentations were occurring in the background. For food, my team always raves about the chicken sandwich, but really you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Visited Minneapolis for 4 days for the first time in August 2025. Can't say about many places because after few unsuccessful attempts to find great meals in different restaurants, I ended up going to this restaurant 4 times (2 times lunch and 2 times dinner). Food was always great and fast (!). It can be little noisy, well because a lot of people share my views regarding this place, I guess. It is popular for a reason. But overall you still can find a more quieter area if needed. Outside seating is also available. Located in great neighborhood (North Loop), don't know about parking because I always walked or took a short bus ride), area is walkable! Servants are professional, friendly and relaxed (in a good way, not because they don't want to do the job). You can find cheaper places but in my opinion it is worth the price. If I visit Minneapolis again, I will simply going to this place for every meal.

I went in with no knowledge of this place. Food was great. Service was good! Lunchtime on Saturday was a calm and enjoyable atmosphere. Beers were nice, cocktails good, food was grand!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a fun little date night at The Freehouse. Food and drinks were so yummy. The ambiance was so fun and seems like a great place for a large group of people. Service was great. The waiter was knowledgeable about the menu. I see that others say there is a free parking lot somewhere. We personally didn't find it, and parked in a nearby ramp. However, there is also plenty of metered street parking available. Also, I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the space. I even saw a waiter cleaning the railings.

Yelp
I love the inside of this place! There was so many different options, I didn't know if I wanted to sit in a booth, "rail" or bar. I loved the outdoor sitting area but it was too color despite the fire pits. The food was just okay. No major complaints but not a place I would run back to. This place is a nice place to catch up with friends or coworkers

Yelp
With the sun out we were dying for a patio dinner. I loved that The Freehouse has heaters going as well since the sunshine didn't last. At first our service was great, but it took forever and a half to order our food. Our server didn't come back for a solid 18 minutes from the time we got our drinks to when we were able to order food. With a toddler with us it made it hard to sit and wait. There were a lot of options on the menu that spoke to us, but the prices made no sense. For example, the deviled eggs (crispy bacon, arugula, pickle relish, aioli) sounded yummy but two halves for $16.50 yikes! Dinner wise we went with the mac & cheese which was lacking some flavor but the toddler liked it ($17.50) and the steak & pierogis ($24.95) which was the better option but not a huge fan of the szechuan sauce. I would consider getting that again but without the sauce. We also ordered the Blue Plate Deluxe Burger ($18.50) which was good but they messed up the sides and never brought the requested dipping sauce. Our bill was dropped off without asking if we needed/wanted something else. We had planned on ordering dessert, the chocolate cake sounded great- but no one asked or offered. We ended up going elsewhere for dessert which was a total miss for The Freehouse. The service needs a lot of work in my opinion. Tip: Being in 'downtown' parking can be a little hard to find around dinner time. I recommend checking out the ramp nearby!

Yelp
Went here on a whim after work and was pleasantly surprised. They have happy hour every day from 2-6 so I think this would be a great spot for a group before/after an (sporting) event - it's a really large space both inside and out and the prices are reasonable during that time. I got the happy hour wings ($9) and they were shockingly good. Full of flavor, a bit of heat, and the meat slid off the bones. Am curious to come back and try a non-HH option. It's possible they perfected HH since it is everyday but not complaining!

Yelp
In town, the morning after my flight, a friend brought me to this neighborhood restaurant. Not knowing what to expect, I was thrilled to see the brunchy/breakfast items on the menu. Realizing how hungry I was and how I couldn't single out one choice, I joked we two should get three dishes and split them. Lucky for me, he thought that was a fine idea! We chose the Walleye Eggs Benedict...fabulous!! Then the Gnocchi dish which came with some kind of thick bacon chunks, drizzled in a creamy pesto basil sauce and topped with 2 poached eggs....utterly fantastico!! Then I couldn't say no to something sweet so we split a stack of french toast, and ooooh my was that ample and delicious. Our server was great, bringing out extra plates for the sharing idea we had. The ambience was great....talllll open ceilings and great windows looking out onto areas of the old warehouse district of North Loop neighborhood. A very pleasant time was had here!

Yelp
I went here on New Year's Eve and it was such a fun place to get dinner and drinks and watch the Vikings game that was on! There was a DJ for the holiday that made it the perfect vibe to hang out for a couple of hours. I had the Chicken Pesto Pappardelle which I highly recommended, the basil tomato mornay sauce was chef's kiss ‍ this dish comes with grilled ciabatta and is perfect with the sauce as well! For drinks the Nordic Punch is a must have! It's light and refreshing with notes of blackberry and pineapple making it just sweet enough.

Yelp
We wanted to sneak in one last brewery for the evening, and the pictures of this one online looked very cool, so why not... and it was open the latest. It was pretty packed at the bar, but we managed to find two seats that just opened up on the backside of the bar. Everyone behind the bar said hello while passing by with other drinks or food. They made sure to let us know right away that last call for the kitchen was coming up in about 20 minutes so we cohld focus on looking over the menu to see if we wanted anything. My eyes went to two things the Tuna Poke and the Deviled Eggs. The problem was that the Deviled Eggs, you only get 5 halves... so 2 1/2 eggs and the appetizer was $16.50! For 2 1/2 eggs?!? It actually cost more than the Tuna Poke. So that made it an easy choice. I still can't get over the price of them. I don't think I could have made a better decision with the Tuna Poke, either. Ben had already eaten, so this was supposed to be for me, and I found myself having to give him small bites to keep him to helping himself, and the dish would have been gone super quickly. It was amazing. Everything blended so well, and we had never had Poke with capers in it, but they went so well. We didn't even notice there wasn't avocado in it, which has been in every Poke I've ever had. We didn't miss it. Had we known how good it was going to be, we would have ordered 2 before the kitchen closed. The Poke even stole the show from the beers, I can't remember what I even ordered. Oh well, we will definitely go back whenever in Minneapolis again.

Yelp
I would consider myself a Freehouse enthusiast. I love the staff, the food, and of course the beer! The fish and chips came out piping hot. Fried to perfection and came with fries! The mimosa is the hiding in the picture but was present. What a great bright way to bring in a birthday brunch. The windows and fun atmosphere makes this the perfect place to go with friends.

Yelp
*Happy Hour Review Only* FOOD: We got the totchos and Chex mix for the the happy hour deal... and they were both AWESOME! However I will say I am a bit disappointed with the happy hour cocktails, as they are only mixed rail drinks. Not my top choice for happy hour (as I like getting half off typically expensive cocktails), but the food and beer was great, so I'm excited to go back for dinner. SERVICE: Staff was cordial. No complaints. AMBIANCE: The inside of Freehouse is SO cool!! Definitely an awesome vibe to hang out. Great decor and lighting LOCATION/PARKING: Parking in this area is tough, but the overall location is super cool. Bags and yard games outside, and a few other restaurants in the area!

Yelp
Oysters aren't top tier, a little pricey, mediocre.. go to spoon and sable or porvana's if you want top tier oysters (Around the SAME PRICE) just 10x better my sandwich was mediocre, everything was overpriced mediocre food, the service was good, the environment was probably the best thing.

Yelp
Lots of space, fast service, and yummy food! We shared four appetizers and they were all delicious, but the sweet potato fries were next level. They were so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. None of the other dishes compared! Sometimes it can be a little pricey for some items, but the service and the quality is excellent.

Yelp
Overall great experience. The staff were all very friendly and helpful when making recommendations and substitutions when needed. The entire party was really happy with our food. Out of the 3 dishes, it seemed like the pappardelle was the favorite. It had great flavor and the portion was more than enough for one person- it also had a lot of chicken in the dish which was a nice surprise compare to most pastas with proteins. The only reason for taking off a star, and it seems trivial, is that there were not a lot of vegetable options for sides. Most dishes come with asparagus, mash potatoes, or rice...and there aren't many (if any) other options. They did offer to sub Brussel sprouts which was very kind. Overall I would recommend giving it a try but would encourage either a pasta or sandwich as a food selection

Denise H.

Yelp
The Turkey burger is spicy and juicy. It has bacon and plablano aioli. The French onion soup is also exceptional. It's welcoming to children, good children's menu. Staff Cole was accommodating and professional. Very nice experience!

Yelp
Came by on a Monday early evening for after-work dinner. Almost nobody inside but absolutely packed outside (nice weather). Opted to wait ten minutes until a table came free for our group of seven outdoors. Good selection of beers on draft with stuff from local breweries as well as their own brews. Decided on the "No. 2 IPA" ($7) - a very balanced ale between its hoppiness and citrus flavor. Wanted something substantial for food, so ordered the Rotisserie Chicken ($23). Large marinated half chicken alongside mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Chicken is seasoned well and not dry - needed some extra sauce for heat. Mashed potatoes and asparagus are your basic fare. Finished off by getting another beer - "X 02 Hazy IPA" ($7). An even more fruit forward IPA with a thick hazy finish. Several servers working the place, so we were not lost in the crowd. Recommended for a no-fuss dinner option.

Yelp
Freehouse located right in North Loop has a great patio! My two favorite menu items, dynamic duo drink and Brussels sprouts appetizer. Absolutely fantastic every time! We also tried out the cheese curds, wings and roto bird baguette, all were also very good. The two sauces with the cheese curds really level it up. Recommend Freehouse if you're looking for a good patio, lively atmosphere and consistent food/drinks.

Yelp
(Last visited on 9/13/2021). While hanging out in Minneapolis for the evening Bae was doing some Yelp'ing since it was dinnertime. She saw the great ratings this place had so we gave it a shot! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right in the northeast section of Minneapolis is this gem. It's a trendy spot that looks SUPER modern and wide open. The ceilings are high, there are the latest flatscreens hung all over, giant steel vats where beer is made are in plain sight and giant glass windows allow great views of outside for people watching. The music was chill and the atmosphere was even more chill. It was a weeknight so it wasn't super busy, but I know during the weekend this place gets LIVE. Service: I forget the young lady's name that took care of us, but she was awesome. There wasn't much going on so she was able to give us her undivided attention and that was good. Food: I was feeling healthy so I went with the Honey Lime Chicken Salad which is a bed of mixed greens underneath sous vide chicken breast, grape tomatoes, charred sweet corn, golden raisins, avocado, blue cheese, bacon then drizzled with honey lime dressing. It was delicious. The chicken was seasoned so well. The sweet and savory dressing melded well with all of the ingredients in the salad. Value: My delicious salad was only $16.50. I'd say that's a pretty great deal for the quality of food I got and the portion! In conclusion, I really enjoyed this place and I'd love to come back here and hang out. So if you're reading this... INVITE US OUT!

Yelp
We walked here after a Timberwolves game. Been on my list for some time and it did not disappoint. Breakfast is served all day. Love breakfast but there were so many options to choose from. I decided to have one of their craft IPAs so thought French toast might not be the best accompaniment. I went with the beet salad. It was delicious. The cheese was so soft and fresh. Beets were firm but cut-able with a fork. Greens were fresh. So good. Our server, Michelle, suggested the balsamic vinegar with ranch - salty/creamy combo - and I went with her suggestion. All on the side. She also brought the original citrus option so I could try them all. I have to admit her suggestion was awesome but I also didn't mind the citrus option as well. Nice to try them all. Michelle was a phenomenal server. She was honest about menu options and did not disappoint. As this was our first time, I greatly appreciated her expertise. The atmosphere was upscale but not too fancy. Loved the high topped booths and the fact that we could watch the end of the Maters while we ate. Great stop. Can't wait to try again. So many menu options I want to try!

Yelp
Recently went to freehouse for brunch for the first time and loved it! I've been several times for dinner and it is one of my favorite reliable places, but their brunch was in a world of its own! A friend recommended the breakfast gnocchi to me and it was INSANE! A dish I would probably have not ordered without a rec, but I am so glad I did. The eggs were perfectly poached, the bacon and pesto sauce was creamy and decadent, and the greens perfectly complimented the rest of the dish. I would definitely order it again. We also got iced la colombe coffees and all loved them. For apps, we split the cheese curds and Brussels sprouts. Both were delicious, pricey at $12.50 each but a crowd pleaser so worth it in my book.

Yelp
Freehouse is one of my go-to brunch spots in the Twin Cities because it never disappoints! It's unique and trendy without being too overpriced and funky. The space inside is like a cross between a brewery, bar and restaurant. It gives off a cool modern vibe, while also being pretty cozy. The wait staff is fabulous, and super timely. If it's a birthday, they'll also give you a free dessert! We made a reservation for a Sunday morning brunch - I would recommend a reservation since it was pretty busy, but they definitely could fit quite a few walk ins. We started with some coffee - they had my favorite La Colombe latte with Oat Milk. It's smooth and sweet without being too sugary. They don't have many options for coffee, but this is definitely a winner for me. Our table ordered the Brussels Sprouts & Cheese Curds to start. For the amount of food you get, I would say that these are a bit overpriced at $12.50 each. We split them between 6 people, each would serve probably 2 more comfortably. The cheese curds were delicious, but nothing super special. I really liked the red pepper dipping sauce they came with! The Brussels Sprouts were amazing - the goat cheese, almonds and honey really elevated these. For brunch I ordered the spinach frittata with. the breakfast salad and sourdough toast. This was a delicious and light egg dish to start my day. The frittata was super flavorful with the parmesan, spinach, tomato and brie topping. The eggs were perfectly fluffy as well. The homemade jam was an amazing addition to the sourdough toast. The side salad was nothing too special, but it's just a light salad - it was a nice pairing! For my friend's birthday, our waiter brought out a slice of cheesecake that was rich and sweet. It was overall just great cheesecake! I will make a note that this restaurant is still charging a 4% employee wellness charge. We felt this pretty unnecessary considering we were also tipping, but we had such a fabulous server (and we were in a rush) that we didn't put up a fight about it, but just something to be aware of.

Yelp
After almost an hour scouring the streets for a parking spot, I couldn't wait to eat! The Freehouse has this enticing porch that we've always wanted to go to and we're pleasantly impressed. Service is fast and precise, we went for a light lunch and enjoyed our lettuce wrap starter and steak mains. We will certainly be returning. Just prepare enough time to find parking in this busy location.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed visiting Freehouse and this is my go to place when I have friends or family visiting. Their specialities are their burgers, cocktails, and entrees plus they do blue plate specials! I got the truffle burger this time and it was delicious! The service was great plus I love the ambience of the place. Also I recommend making reservations especially on Friday and the weekend since they're always busy! Also for parking there's a ramp that's walking distance otherwise street parking.

Yelp
Visiting from DC and this was one of few places open Mondays but we were so glad we went. The chicken pesto pappardelle was AMAZING! I had it regular and my friend with celiac could get it with gluten free pasta AND bread! Every part was amazing. The bread, the sauce, the noodles, the chicken. They also have happy hour until 6 with good deals, and a huge liquor selection so I was able to get the old fashioned with screwball and it was divine! Great experience with friendly service too! Nice outdoor patio.

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner before a night out. Others had been before but this was my first time. There was a group of about 8 of us and we made a reservation before hand. We got sat right away and the service was good. I order the cheese curds and chicken tenders. The cheese curds were okay, they tried to make them fancy which I don't think you need to do, just give me a basket of cheese curds. The chicken tenders were a large portion but good, however, I couldn't finish them. This place was fine overall but the prices are little on the higher end for the quality of food you get. I would return if a friend wanted to go but this wouldn't be my first pick.

Yelp
A solid place when looking for a place in the North Loop. With a huge interior, this is often our back up when other places are booked full. A pretty substantial menu, there is a good chance even the pickiest eater will be able to find something. A few things to call special attention to: 1) Brussel Sprout Appetizer-Goat cheese, honey, almonds-a great dish 2) Baja Bowl-A substantial entrée chock full of carnitas, pinto beans, avocado, rice, cilantro. A flavor bomb. 3) BP Deluxe Burger-candied bacon, special sauce, pure decadence. The Freehouse has a decent array of beer choices and cocktails are solid. Nothing crazy but enough to round out a good dinner. Service has been a little hit or miss at times but it is also understandable given the current state of the industry. Just something to be aware of if you are in a hurry.

Yelp
Great location for chilling out while John gets quality time at the Philatelic library. We dropped our daughter off at the airport at 6:30am and now I'm dog sitting Ziggy Stardust, her German Shorthair and I'm hungry! So after walking Ziggy and letting her enjoy the dog park and snacks, it's my turn for food and tea! What a great place to find on Yelp! I'd love to visit in late afternoon and evening, it looks like such a fun place to meet people and just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere. Nice welcome too! The food and drinks look wonderful! I had Earl Gray and Eggs Benny. Very tasty! Breaking into the egg immediately told me that these are farm eggs! Hollandaise sauce was so good! Canadian bacon and muffin were a bit tough bus so good!! I'd come back for sure!

Yelp
Can't believe I've never been here before. We happened to stop in here before a night out in north loop. Just wanted a quick bite to eat and a drink, and we had heard good things about this place. We were seated immediately on a busy Friday night -- wow this place is big. Tons of staff, tons of tables, but seems like a well oiled machine. We had Cassie as a server and she was fast and kind. The kitchen was also fast with our pretty simple order of soup, tots, bread and a drink. I'd definitely stop in here again, maybe next time even for brunch! No complaints. A pretty basic place with tons of options.

Yelp
Great outside patio close to many businesses. Wait times can be long given how popular The Freehouse is (especially during happy hour time in the summer)! Food is average, vibes are great. My favorites are the BLTA sandwich with sweet potato fries and the cheese curds.
google avatar

Hedda D.

Yelp
Food is FANTASTIC!! We had the cheese curds (with apple sauce?? Surprisingly good) and I got a chicken sandwich. The sweet potato fries are a little soft but they taste great. Also the honey mustard is just mustard that tastes a little sweet. Also, service was very slow, but it was late at night so I don't blame them. STILL absolutely wonderful. First time and I'm definitely coming back. Atmosphere is great if you like loud music and dim lights, which I do, so that's sublime.

Sherri S.

Yelp
Love going here with my team. Fun drinks and great food. We end up here often. There is something for everyone.

Yelp
Freehouse is the perfect place for grabbing drinks when you also want something substantial to eat. Their cocktails are really strong, which I was not expecting. They are also really good! Lots of beer on tap too. My favorite thing to eat is their tuna poke bowl- obviously not the freshest tuna or anything but the other ingredients are super fresh and the dish is really filling without being too greasy and making me feel gross.
google avatar

Cole D.

Yelp
The Freehouse is a favorite for lunch when bopping around the northloop, before/after a concert/event, or sometimes just because you are looking for an upscale casual dining experience. There are plenty of places to sit inside but this place fills up fast so get there early. The servers are always helpful and friendly and the food and beer is always top notch. In the summer, sitting on the patio is a must while enjoying lunch Al fresco.

Yelp
I came to this restaurant thinking I would have a great time with my sister. The service for happy hour was HORRIBLE!! Definitely wouldn't recommend this spot.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
The Freehouse was the perfect girls brunch spot. We all got the La Colombe oat milk latte (which they poured into a glass of ice, which I really appreciated!) I got the American Breakfast with the salad, scrambled eggs, and turkey sausage. The turkey sausage was delicious and I loved the dressing on the salad! The dressing was a light vinaigrette and the salad was mixed greens with a little avocado and tomatoes. Some of my friends got the breakfast gnocchi and my meal was delicious but I will definitely be getting the gnocchi next time!!
google avatar

Ashlyn A.

Yelp
What a fun and beautiful restaurant! I went there with my friends for a brunch and we all LOVED our food! From a salmon scrabble to the classic eggs Benedict everything was beautiful and very yummy! Our server gave us lots of time to order because we were chatting so much . It would be a good idea to make a reservation!

Yelp
My first time at the Freehouse was a hit! We went for a friends birthday brunch and had delicious coffees and specialty brunch items. Great vibes and service all around, and the breakfast gnocchi was to die for!

Yelp
I was thinking this is a brewery but turns out this is a restaurant with bar in it. They do have a small brewery making on site but not complete brewery. The ambiance of this place is absolutely amazing and well maintained. They have a outdoor seating for summers. They have a list of beers from surrounding brewery's too. They have a huge food menu and cocktails menu. There cocktails were good. The service is pretty slow though, may be they are low on ppl. The food tasted good, some items are not that great. Eggplant Pamersan is not worth it. Pastas were good. This place is pretty busy during the Friday and weekends. I would recommend this place.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and may or may not have decided that a massive plate of nachos (chilaquiles) was a good way to start a long day of exploring Minneapolis. If someone had told me that finishing the whole pile was a bad idea, I would have considered not finishing it, and then probably finished it anyway. Alas, no one told me that, instead I was told "most people" don't finish it and that it "usually" yields leftovers. Well, guess who's not "most people"... Honestly it was a delicious mound of food, and I have very few regrets about it. It doesn't look that intimidating when you begin, but the pile almost seems to grow as you eat it. As I rolled myself down the sidewalk after this meal, I was very content. Should I visit here again one day, I'd likely order something different, only because other things also sounded great and the internet tells me not to make a habit of eating thousands of calories at one time. The vibe here is great as well. They have a nice patio that is pleasant during all 3 weeks of Minnesota's summer. Go check this place out, it's worth your time.

Yelp
I'm still pretty meh on this place. Its FINE, but not someplace I'd go out of my way to go to. (My last visit was because it was about the only place open for lunch on a weekday afternoon!) The deviled eggs were a massive rip off - Something like $15 for 4 egg halves? This was even before eggs were expensive. Skip those. The cheese curds, however, were served with apple sauce and I found this to be SO GOOD! It paired perfectly and now I wish more places did this!

Yelp
Solid American/New American food! We actually stumbled on this place on accident as we were intending to dine across the street but saw this place was alot busier so it must be a sign! We got the wings, tuna poke, and breakfast gnocchi and everything was yummy! Love the ambience too and the servers were attentive, kind and fun. The menu is vast so I can't wait to go back and try a brunch and go to their happy hours in the near future! There's a parking garage near the restaurant so park there! Great vibes all in all!

Yelp
Love this place! Atmosphere is fun, food and drinks are great. Our server Cyndi was great! She was quick to make suggestions and was very accommodating when more people joined our table, we really appreciated her! The general manager on duty stopped by our table to make sure everything was going well and was so friendly and thoughtful; you can tell the staff loves being there! Will definitely be going back.

Yelp
The food , service and ambiance are all on point. I got a seat at the bar when I went in and the place was packed on a weekday. I would gladly go back.

Yelp
The patio and service are really great here. The menu is really expansive, and I'm not sure I know what like it cuisine they are going for? It seems like an upscale version of Applebees, which isn't a bad thing since sometimes you just want to go to a restaurant that has a ton of options for everyone in your party. They brew their own beer I think, which I've enjoyed.

Yelp
Food - We ordered the bloody Mary's, coconut crusted shrimp, and the blue plate deluxe burger. Coconut shrimp was good, came out hot but was not as crunchy/fried as I'd expect it to be. Burger was awesome, no complaints there. Fries (with the burger) came out cold. Bloody Mary's we're great too! Service was great, we were seated right away, waters delivered, etc. Ambiance was good, Monday afternoon, pretty quiet with low volume music playing in the background. I would come back here!

Yelp
Very cute atmosphere and a cozy restaurant. Ordered lobster and chicken soup since it was so cold outside and it was pretty good.

Yelp
Oooo such a fun place! Stopped by here for a few drinks with friends and had lots of fun! Plus the drinks were very good. The inside is big but it was packed on a Friday night (not surprising though hahaha). Freehouse is by tons of different spots, so we enjoyed how easy it was to get there from where we had dinner before. So we didn't get food while we were here, but the food looked super good. I'll definitely have to come back and try it out!

Yelp
Good food, good service, warm room. What more could you want? Looking forward to eating this tasty chicken lime salad. The place is all decked out for Christmas and Kyle brought me food and drink. Thanks Kyle. Nice job!

Yelp
This is a really nice place. We went after a Timberwolves game and my husband commented you could wear whatever you had on and you would feel comfortable. It has a industrial sort of look. There were couples, families and individuals of varying ages. It was busy but we were seated pretty quickly. Kelsie brought water right over, introduced herself and asked if we wanted another drink right away. We hadn't looked the menu over so she gave us a few minutes and came back. We had our whole order ready. I didn't want blue cheese on my salad and she said they could add Parmesan or mozzarella cheese. My husband got cauliflower rice instead of regular rice. He ordered a beer which he said was a good IPA, just what was promised. We got deviled eggs as an appetizer and they were delicious. We didn't have to wait for long after we finished our appetizer and our food arrived. We really enjoyed the salad and bowl we ordered. We would definitely recommend eating here.

Yelp
I was in Minneapolis for a vacation recently, and I wanted to try some unique restaurants that were new since I moved away 25 years ago. After doing an online search for ideas where I could sit outside and enjoy the beautiful summer weather, I found The Freehouse and the reviews really drew me in. The host seemed to have some difficulty figuring out where I could be seated, but I was shown to a lovely table that afforded shade from the hot sun. I had my first "Old Fashioned" cocktail as recommended, and it sure packed a delicious punch! I went with the Steak Salad and O M G - it was fantastic. I think I may have made some of those little "yum" sounds as I ate the steak, done to medium-rare perfection, sitting on top of a mound of sautéed red onions. The salad itself was a delightful mixture of tastes and textures with some unusual potato wedges mixed in. I recommended this dish to the gentlemen who sat down next to me, and they also ordered it and loved it. I had ordered a Diet Coke to go with my meal, and it was served in a plastic tumbler. I had finished just about half of my Steak Salad when a very strong wind whipped my soda tumbler right off the table and most of the liquid ended up on my plate, on me, and on the gentleman seated next to me! It was like an explosion! I sat there in shock and several fellow patrons rushed over to me with their napkins, helping me mop op the Diet Coke. The server came over and offered to replace my meal, but I explained that I already had consumed half, so I declined their kind offer. The meal was taken off the bill, which was very thoughtful of them, since of course, they cannot control the wind. I knew that I would make my way back to The Freehouse to get this great dish again, and within the week, I was back. Once again, the host seemed to be challenged to seat me outside, but after a short wait, I was shown to a great table near the fire pit - I loved the smell of it! I knew what I wanted to order, but I looked over the menu anyway, and there was NO Steak Salad!! My server told me that they had just made changes to the menu, and that was one item that had been removed. :( I was really sad about that. I decided to go with one of their Blue Plate Specials, and got the Short Rib Dip. EXCELLENT. If it's still on the menu when you go, I highly recommend it. Like the Steak Salad, I highly doubt you will be able to finish it in one sitting and if you're not planning on going home right away, it could be wasteful. I asked for my Diet Coke to be served in a glass tumbler so there would be no chance of it taking flight during my meal. I look forward to going back to The Freehouse when I visit Minneapolis next time.
