Where to find French cuisine in Detroit | Eater Detroit

"An Eastern Market mainstay for crêpes, I found the ultra-thin, easily folded street-food crêpes offered in sweet and savory options ideal for on-the-go eating; the Elvis crêpe riffs on a PB&J with bacon, peanut butter, and banana, while the tutti frutti is filled with bananas and blueberries and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar." - Will Reaume

Two Beloved Detroit Chefs Battle It Out on CBS’ The Talk’s Food Face-Off | Eater Detroit

"A creperie founded in 2015 by Marie Wallace, a native of France, that will take up residence in a Cass Corridor shop Feb. 1–Apr. 30 (Weds–Sun) offering a variety of sweet and savory crepes as well as a signature sandwich called The Robinson—a baguette with cured ham, butter or fig jam, and brie." - Serena Maria Daniels

Crepes are insanely good and there is a constantly changing menu and many seasonal flavors! My brother and I enjoy the sweet crepes almost every weekend. The owner is also very kind and friendly, we look forward to seeing her each time we order!

We found this place while visiting the Eastern Market. As someone who is gluten free, finding a crepe that I can eat is unheard of!!! I got the savory crepe with mushrooms, cheese, and pesto. My husband got a sweet crepe with Nutella, bananas, and marshmallows (season Christmas crepe). Both were a 10/10. Cannot recommend these crepes enough. The women working were so kind and working so hard!!!

A hot sunny afternoon in Detroit downtown, we were vacationing surprising a cousin on his birthday… when we heard about the stalls in the eastern market. We, being who we are, always love visiting a local farmers market to get a glimpse of the local food scene. After a lazy morning, having amazing home-brewed coffee (cousin being a coffee connoisseur) to wake us all up, we drove to the eastern market from home. We walked through numerous shops selling everything from clothes to earrings to handbags and finally ended up going to that set of stalls that excite us the most- food. One stall stood out amongst the many there and we decided to try it out. We are all crepe-lovers, generally - having tasted in loads of places for breakfast… this stall had a couple of lovely ladies who were making crepes with a big pleasant smile on their faces - the reason we even wanted to try there!!! First attempted the ‘Scent of New York’ … handed to us piping hot. We walked away not taking a bite, since it was too hot, walked a couple of stalls away before we took the first bite and that is when magic stuck us. It was far from a regular crepe, perfectly seasoned batter and oh my my … that cinnamon powder on that crepes made us all drool. We all got a bite of it, literally fighting for the last piece. Apparently this was the most underrated item of theirs!!! It truly was underrated - it definitely deserved more attention and a bigger audience… we had to go back to try something else. After grazing through the menu, settled on having a savoury crepe… seriously savoury!!!! I would have never had it in any other place… savoury crepe was not something that I was keen on - my husband pushed me (he wanted Italian) and we went for it. Boy boy - it was like we were in Italy in the streets of Rome relishing amazing pizzas… this crepe was Italy wrapped and handed over in your hand…. Enjoyed every cheesy bit of it with the copious amount of cheese, basil and tomatoes… I am not sure if I will ever go back to eastern market in Detroit again but if I do… I am going to this place again… or to wherever they are!!!

These are by far the best crepes I’ve ever had. I’ve never written a review for anything before but I had to make an exception for The French Cow! Marie and Carly are the sweetest people and their enthusiasm for authentic French crepes is infectious. Whether you’re looking for a light dessert or a full meal, there’s something for everyone. My favorites are the savory crepes. From the crispy cheesy edge to the melty buttery middle it is really an experience I think everyone needs to have. Thank goodness Marie decided to move to Detroit. I don’t know what I would do on cold mornings at the market without a hot crepe in my hands!!!

Have been enjoying French Cow Crepes for literally YEARS!! It’s our first stop every Sat at Eastern Market!! Order is well known and perfect EVERY TIME!! Am in love with Monique’s Garden with a couple changes. Light mozzarella instead of cheddar and mushrooms instead of banana peppers and ALWAYS request well done cause who doesn’t love crispy edges!!! Absolutely delicious and does help after to not overbuy. As the rule for food shopping continues, never shop hungry!! 🤗🤗❤️

I love The French Cow and I’ve had nothing but lovely experiences enjoying their crepes! They are always willing to recommend something that we’ll enjoy depending on the day. I’m more of a sweet person so my favorite is the Apple far From the Tree but occasionally I’ll get a lemon sugar crepe when I need something lighter and they’ve always been happy to make it for me. My husband is a savory person and his favorite is the Monique. These are the most authentic French crepes in SE MI by far and that’s what makes them so special! You’ll experience nothing but smiling faces and good vibes supporting this small business and I highly recommend checking them out :)

Absolutely delightful! The French Cow makes some of the most delicious crepes I’ve ever had, perfectly thin, flavorful, and made with so much care. Every bite feels like a little trip to France! The team is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. Whether you’re getting a sweet crepe or a savory one, everything is fresh, and made with heart. I always leave with a smile. Highly recommend stopping by The French Cow you won’t be disappointed! 🐮❤️🇫🇷

Fabulous shop. I get a crepe everytime I go to Eastren Market in Detroit. The food is always delicious. I could smell the food from the other side of the shed my first time and had to figure out where it was coming from! The ladies who work are so kind and have started to remember me. Their set up is wonderful. You can see that all the food is fresh and the work area is kept clean even when things are really busy.
