If I had only tried the mille feuille, I would easily give this place four stars. Unfortunately, the other items I ordered brought the overall experience down. The mille feuille was genuinely good — crisp layers and well executed, comparable to another well-known pastry shop nearby. However, the Pistachio Cream Croissant had very little filling, to the point where calling it “cream” feels like a stretch. The Matcha Bomboloni and Cold Brew Bomboloni were also disappointing: the dough was a bit firm, and the fillings were so minimal — especially when compared to other bakeries, where filled donuts are often generously packed and actually burst with filling. Coffee was fine. The interior is nicely designed and festive, which adds to the atmosphere, especially on a snowy morning in NYC. Overall, this is a visually appealing bakery, but consistency and value don’t quite match the hype. Three stars feels fair for the full experience.

A little taste of Paris in Queens! 🇫🇷☕️ The French Workshop in Bayside is one of the coziest and most elegant bakeries I’ve visited in New York. Everything here feels refined — from the design and atmosphere to the aroma of freshly baked pastries and espresso. The desserts are not only beautiful but truly delicious — you can feel the craftsmanship and quality in every bite. The coffee is excellent too — smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy a quiet morning, meet a friend, or simply take a break from the city rush. Highly recommend for anyone who loves good pastries, great coffee, and a calm, French-inspired vibe.

my family & i love the pastries here !! 💟 it's usually pretty packed here from my experience but so worth it. it's super unique from any other bakery ive been to in queens. they have special pastries for different occasions, which is part of the reason why i love it here. the place is kinda small but have seating inside & some outside. it is pricey but they taste delicious & the craftmanship/presentation of each pastry takes skill/time. i've never seen an ugly pastry from here! 😂🥰

My new favorite spot for something sweet and birthday cakes. My cousin took me there. Their cakes are unique in design and tastes so good! I went getting a birthday cake and tasted a dessert 🧁 Fabulous!!!!

Best bakery in the area. I’ve been a long time fan of Martha’s but solidly believe that if you are looking for higher quality baked goods, then you should head a couple blocks over to The French Workshop. There aren’t as many options of different slices of cakes and cheesecakes. Instead, you have an array of intricate desserts and pastries that are a cut above the regular cheesecake + random fruit that you’d get elsewhere. There are also a lot of options for vegans, including cookies, muffins, and breads (look near the register) which is a nice find.

Evening well spent. Lovely ambiance and kind staff. Store is always clean when I am here. Will come back again.

Okay I got the pistachio croissant with chocolate in the morning around 11am and it tasted old. The vibes are very nice though. The worker flipped my chocolate pistachio pastry upside down in front of me by accident and proceeded to package it like nothing happened….

From the moment you step in it's as if you've been transported into a little slice of heaven. The smell is not only inviting, it's enchanting. Tied up with the decor, background music, on-site bakery where (iykyk) you can't help but watch the artist at play and to top it all off, served on a silver plater. Come on! Staff were friendly and not at all pushy when my friend and I weren't able to make up our minds since it was my first time here. We had the chocolate noir (omg, so decadent, rich, a must for all chocolate lovers!) and my all time fave (please don't mess this up ) tiramisu, they did NOT disappoint despite it being an Italian dessert! Coffee, mascarpone, lady fingers and cocoa powder all to perfection AND the lattes were to perfection! Oh man, you totally forget you're even in Queens when you're at The French Workshop, even that you're in NY for that matter. I've already made a big fuss about it to my social circle and planning on my next trip which cannot come soon enough (but at the same time, let me calm down because... sugar... lol) Btw, price point, you'd think it'd cost you an arm and a leg for what you're getting but nope, even on that it's well priced which is also a huge plus! Pretty sure we can all agree (after checking it out for yourselves of course) that we've paid more for MUCH less! Hope y'all check it out and enjoy as much or more than I did

Nice establishment a width variety of cakes cookies and pastries. They have chairs to sit in the back. Very clean, neat, and organized. I ordered a medium cold brew ice coffee for $3.00. I asked for liquid sugar. I was told it would be on the side it wasn't. The barista was very nice he apologized and prepared for me some liquid sugar. The coffee it was not strong, tasted like regular ice coffee, and it was not sweet. I was a little disappointed.

Line wasn't too long and there was quite a few free seating at Saturday afternoon. We tried: Cream bougatsa: it was alright but not necessarily something I'd get again. Confirmed that I'm not the biggest fan of this. The pastry was as crispy and the custard as sweet as I've seen this dessert be, but not crispy or sweet enough for me. Madeleine: this was surprisingly a highlight. Would get again for the sponginess and there is no fruit taste which I don't like in my Madeleines. Crunchy: 10 year anniversary so it was only $5. Full of layers and good textures. I can see the hype. Creme brulee cheesecake: as all the reviews said, no creme brulee coating but it might be referring to the cheesecake itself? Much more of a vanilla flavor rather than cream cheese. I'm more of a purist though so wouldn't get this again. Fruit tart: Another highlight - flaky tart and good vanilla custard. Much better than Martha's.

Good strong black coffee. A year ago, I had the cappuccino and it was nice. Yesterday, Thursday May 16, 2024, I enjoyed a Spinach Pie, called something like Spinach Baugtista (?)--very nice. I did ask for it to be heated, and altho they said yes, it was cold, but I ate it, and it was very good even cold LOL. I enjoyed my chocolate fudge brownie with walnuts. It was rich and delicious. I actually cut it in half and enjoyed half and then later that evening had the other half what a great deal it was yummy. Today, Friday, May 17, I enjoyed a ham & cheese croissant, heated up, and it was delicious. Also had a small black hot coffee. The small size is maybe 6 ounces, but it's a strong coffee, IMHO (In my humble opinion) so that size is fine for me. I always enjoy a visit here when I visit Bayside. It is a lovely interior and that pulls me in to enjoy something. I like it here!! :)

I think I might have poisoning here - meringue was not fully baked (still eggy in the middle) and the dessert was a bit frozen. They gladly replaced it but I am still worried I have a sneaking suspicion that this place might not be "fresh" I do sort of wish that I went with Martha County Bakery but if we don't try, we never know. The crunky is a popular choice which is the chocolate covered 1/2 dome dessert.

Very clean establishment with a wide array of pastries, sandwiches and coffee choices. Staff was friendly and pleasant and service was fast. I am glad I stumbled upon this beautiful establishment.

Cute cafe with the nicest staff ever! We got the tiramisu, crème burlee cheesecake, mini chocolate croissant, and iced Nutella latte. The tiramisu was too rich for me and the meringue was cute but didn't seem to fit with the tiramisu. The crème burlee cheesecake wasn't really crème burlee and was more like a raspberry jam cheesecake. Nothing special about the croissant or latte.

Best pastry spot! I would definitely come back! I tried their creme brûlée and it was the best thing ever. Melts in your mouth with the right amount of caramel on the top. Not too sweet. I couldn't stop eating it! Came back and got this chocolate dessert, forgot the name but it was chocolate heaven. Normally, chocolate is too much for me, but this was not too sweet or chocolately at all! Their fruits are also super sweet

The French Workshop has multiple locations. I've been to their Garden City and Bayside location. Both are similar with the open concept workshop showcasing their signature sweets and savories and the patissiers. There are tables inside for you to enjoy your purchase. Their pastries are mouthwatering and delicious. The Oreo Cheesecake has to be my all time favorite. It is cheesecake filling sandwiched between two giant oreo cookies. Once you take one bite, you will not be able to stop. It is not overly sweet and every bite will melt in your mouth. The Oreo Cheesecake is available for purchase as a slice or as a full cake. I also enjoy their White Mocha Latte. Sadly when I came on a Sunday evening, they were all out of Oreo Cheesecake slices. I would have purchased a full Oreo Cheesecake if they had it, but unfortunately they didn't. If you are on Bell Boulevard or around Bell Boulevard, I definitely recommend stopping at The French Workshop for a sweet treat. You will not regret it!

I LOVE the french workshop! Is definitely one of my favourite places to go! I was craving some key lime pie and I liked it a lot, the only thing it had too much merengue in it which I didn't enjoy because it was too sweet and sticky! My mom loved her dessert and I LOVED my ice matcha latte with oat milk! The service was quick and the ambience is really nice and calm!

Outstanding. Incredibly delicious. I liked everything about this place. Rightfully busy (on a Saturday morning / early afternoon). Worth every second waited and every penny spent. I'm thankful I'm not too close in the area or I would be visiting probably on the daily.

Everyone in Bayside is in this store. Despite the quiet streets, this little bakery was jam packed and busy, with a line wrapping along the display cases. Their Creme Brulee Cheesecake ($6.95) was answered by the worker as the most popular item. I am surprised by this news, because it wasn't anything special at all. The name is a bit of false advertising as I did not taste any custard in this. Instead, it was a fruity raspberry top. I wish I got the non-cheesecake version. And very unfortunately, I picked the La Mure ($6.95), which was another raspberry theme. If Barbie was a dessert, it would be this. It was very sweet, in an artificial tasting way. And it left a weird aftertaste. At least eating with the fruits helped in masking that. It was my first time trying an Iced Pumpkin Spiced Latte ($5) w/ Oat Milk (+$0.95). They only offered the Medium size. The drink took forever to prepare, due to how crowded the drinks area is as well, but the latte itself was not bad. The oat milk creaminess and ice aids the otherwise stronger flavor of the spice, if you're not as big a fan of that aspect. I can see why this is the annual fall drink! I'm curious what everyone's go-to patisserie is for the store to be so popular, because I think I missed it. I'd pass on coming again, but they do offer a variety of options, from savory to sweet.

Use to come here all the time. I got the raspberry Madeline, tiramisu and a tart. Half way eating it we Found hair. Disappointing and gross

My favorite bakery in Bayside, such a treat to stop in here and trying a delectable treat or two. Everything is amazing, and scrumptious. The space is super adorable, while service is always super prompt and friendly.

They make delicious French pastries!!! Love all the different types of cakes, especially the chocolate ones. They have special holiday treats so be in the lookout. The place has ample indoor and outdoor seating. Can be a place for a cozy meet up or a place to meet a group of friends. Grab a coffee and a pastry and you're set! The service is good if you order something, they do bring it to your table.

The lines was long as usual and we see staff just standing around the counter which we don't understand why. And secondly, one person should be handling the food and the money separately. We saw the staff who handled money, touched the cookies that we got because she wanted to confirmed if they were chocolate chips or Nutella cookies. Really gross and so unsanitary. It's not the first time we saw this so this time, we feel we need to address this. Thank you.

Amazing spot in bayside. So aesthetically pleasing. There is ample space to sit but it's mainly for sweet pastries, cakes etc and not too many baked savory options. I'd love if you could come here for egg and cheese in the morning. It's great for grabbing holiday and special occasion gifts or coming in just to chat over coffee and sweets.

Came here on a Saturday night looking for some desserts after dinner. Asked this short asian girl how many cookies are in an ounce. She scoffed with a demeaning attitude like "you only going to order 1 ounce?" and rolled her eyes at us. We ordered 2 cookies of each flavor, a Tiramisu, and passionfruit tart. Was it too much to ask how many cookies because we don't to buy a ton of cookies we possibly could not like.? She definitely didn't want to be there with her attitude. The cookies were ok, as were the tart and Tiramisu, but her sourpuss customer service and stinkeye sabotaged this review. I have four witnesses to this incident if the Mgr would like to clarify.

Why haven't anyone talked about the Praline Crunch? It's so delicious! Not too sweet, loved the cake part that kind of tasted like a brownie. The mouse was light and not too sweet. I loved the crunch. It was just perfect! I forgot how much it cost since I purchased two cakes. The other cake being the Crunchy and also a whole cake. It was either $48 or $45. It's been awhile since I had the Crunchy but I would prefer the Praline Crunch. If you love chocolate get this cake! I went in on New Years Eve. It was quite hectic and overwhelming trying to decide on a cake. But the process was very fast. They also ask if you want any writings on the cake.

This has been my go-to place for french pastries especially when I need to bring something for a family event. They have a lot of seating options and the lines move pretty fast. I loved the raspberry tart. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and no aspect of the dessert was too overpowering. Overall, the mix of chocolate, vanilla and freshness of the raspberries were amazing. This is a great spot for hanging out with your friends for some coffee!

The French Workshop has a beautiful space and it's a good spot to sit if there are seats available. You can place your order at the counter and there is a lot of variety as well. Overall, was disappointed with the pastries and felt like they look a lot better than they taste. Would probably visit other cafes or bakeries in the area.

I work a 5 min drive away from this location and that can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on my sweet tooth that day!!!! I love all the pastries -- my favorites have to be the pies (apple and pecan) or the pistachio muffin! The coffee is also very good! Sometimes there's a long line but it moves pretty fast! There's enough seating inside and they have seating outside which is nice when the weather is warm! The prices have been increasing - I paid over $7 for a parfait but overall I enjoy coming here and will continue to!!

All things considered, this place has tasty treats. Why did i only give 3 stars? Well because the workers are miserable and bothered. There were 2 people in front of me ordering. There was about 5 people behind the counter, chatting, texting, smirking and basically not willing to really assist. The couple in front asked the person behind the counter if they can order two pastries, and a coffee. The young man (Asian medium build) looked at them, sighed and said fineeeeeee what do you want? Ummm, sorry are we customers bothering you? I came for a few cookies(their mini cookies are really tasty) i asked this young man which cookies he recommended and his response was "none" WOW, you are a great help. I purchased 3 mini cookies, only because my kid begged otherwise i wouldn't have bought a single thing. The workers need training or management needs to help out in front. Otherwise, bakery is pretty, clean and has some yummy desserts. The workers however, make you feel like you are disturbing them

Crème brûlée is on par here!!! Tastes so good! Really fancy and pricey here. Worth the trip if you love desserts. There are many European pastries from macarons to napoleon berry cheesecakes!! Desserts are so pretty sitting in the display!! Many people come here for pictures and it is a fancy dine in area for people to sit here and sip coffee and pastries!! A must!!

I'm not sure how this place has such great reviews. My friend said this place was good, but it went downhill from the last time she went. I can't compare it to its prime years, but I can write about the lack of service and the size of the desserts. It looks nice from when you first walk in. But there's no greeting and no signs. I didn't know where to even go to order and who to even ask. It was a mess. I eventually spotted other customers and followed what they were all doing. Regarding the desserts, it was good, but the portion size was disappointing for the price point. This is Bayside, not the city or LIC. I'm never coming here again as there are other dessert places in this neighborhood which are far more worth it like Martha's.

The food, desserts, drinks are absolutely delicious. The matcha is made to perfection and it goes well with a croissant. I love coming here because the vibe is unmatched. This cafe is one of my go tos to relax, the service is also fast even though it gets busy.

Came here Saturday ~11:45am and was able to secure the pistachio gateau cake for my birthday with a lunch reservation a block away. Also got a decaf cappuccino and pistachio creme brulee. 12 of us shared the cake which was the right amount, we all liked it and it had good pistachio flavor but wasn't too heavy. I enjoyed the crème brûlée later and it was magical!! I can't wait to come back!

Awesome place with a ton of coffee options and dessert options. Place is always packed so seating will be difficult, the outside seating may be your best bet. Recommend the Nutella latte for drinks, and for desserts the creme brulee and the fruit tart. So many other desserts looked amazing as well!

Such a cute, yummy dessert shop in the area. The staff is really nice, efficient with their work, and there is a wide selection of desserts that are also visually so pretty. I HIGHLY recommend the Creme Brulee Cheesecake!! The top layer isn't necessarily creme brulee but it is still very yummy.. like strawberry + fig jam? The cheesecake is soft and flavorful, and not overly sweet which I really liked. Would taste even more amazing with some hot americano (:

The location was fabulous as you can see their kitchen and a lot of seating, and I love their bathroom. Service was simple, same as every dessert spot and you have to clean after yourself even if you dine in. Dessert we got the cream brûlée raspberry (not too sweet and right amount of combo), the key lime pie (too sweet and sour for my taste), salted caramel cookie (very buttery and not too salty nor sweet), and drink was an espresso latte. I would come back for the cream brûlée, and if you're a fan of macaroons they have a lot and savory breakfast! Cake choices...it isn't much vs the Martha down a few blocks.

I was craving creme brûlée super bad and looked on yelp to see where I can go to satisfy my cravings. I found the French Workshop and decided to give it a try. The bakery itself is so cute. I would love to sit there and enjoy the atmosphere and ambience one of these days. My creme brulee was good, it was very sweet but I liked it. I also had an iced caramel latte and it was alright. It had a little bit of a gritty taste to it.

Like all their pastry & coffee. It's to go place after eating on Bell blvd. Or pick up cookies or treats before visiting friend's house. Nice ambience. It's always crowded but they have outdoor seatings.

My friend and I came here post dinner to find something light and sweet to satiate our sweet tooth. My first impression upon entering was how aesthetically pleasing and clean this dessert shop was. The desserts are beautifully & professionally laid out under the glass, with workers behind the booths in black uniform. it seemed like an organized place. Also an ideal place to lounge around, work on my laptop, or have a coffee date. I got the creme brulee cheesecake, which I would rate 4/5, very soft and smooth, but I couldn't bear the berry seeds that were in the topping. The hot chocolate was also a 4/5, a little thinner than I would have liked but perfect amount of sweet, "not too sweet" as I would say. I will definitely come back to try the other desserts.

I like this bakery very much but I do believe the pastries are a bit or miss. For example, the brownie was very bland and the apple pie tasted old, but the cheesecake was one of the best desserts I've ever had! So definitely know what you are ordering before you get it!

Every time I go here , the cashiers are nice and quick. The food always tasted good and fresh. Love the vibes as well and the huge amount of selection. Definitely recommend. I have been here at least 15 times.

Whenever I'm back home visiting family, my sister and I make it a thing to go to The French Workshop because we love their pistachio muffins but to my disappointment the quality of their items have sunk over time. When we saw these muffins, my sister's first reaction was "Why do they think this is acceptable to sell?" I'm not sure what's going on here, but these muffins are not aesthetically pleasing. They also tasted really dry on the inside and tasted stale. I wished that this experience was an outlier, but this has happened every time that we've been there recently. TLDR: I'm disappointed to say that the quality of their items is going down.

The sandwiches are great, my daughter and I loved it and the crème brûlée cheesecake and the crème brûlée are delicious. The ambience is nice. Just a sitting area is a little small so if you wanna stay and eat, you can't because people tend to stay there a little too long. And the service was good just a little slow the employees don't approach you, you have to basically tell them you wanna order something

Starting with location: this store is in such a good spot as it's right after the hustle and bustle of the main section of Bell Boulevard; parking wasn't an issue since we parked far but it seemed like parking was reasonable The store is absolutely amazing from inside and out! It is so clean and has such a nice aesthetic. The seating arrangement didn't feel crowded, even on a Friday night and there was the option for outdoor seating. They have plenty of options for food, desserts, and drinks. I got the tiramisu and it was so tasty. I definitely think that compared to other nearby bakeries, I'd much rather sit in this store. Personally I'm not a huge fan of sit down desserts (where you're served) so I loved this setting. The tiramisu was about $8 which, again, for the area was worth it. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. Godwillingly, I'll be back for sure!

Came here with my friends after eating at Nippon Cha down the street. I was super impressed by the amount of desserts they had; it was overwhelming but in a positive way. I simply could not decide what I wanted! I appreciated how patient the staff was. After standing at the counter for like 10 minutes, I ended up getting a fruit tarte (3/5, crust was a little too hard); crème brûlée (4/5); a chocolate eclair (3/5); and another chocolate pastry (3/5). There's a decent amount of seating. Interior is mostly marble, so it felt fancy/chic. I really liked the Parisian vibes. Perfect for photo ops with your friends. I didn't get to try the savory items, so definitely be back!

Love visiting the french workshop, and this location was lovely as well! The service was wonderful with accommodating and friendly staff. Tables were clean even at rush hour and there was plenty of seating. They have a great variety of pastries and drinks to choose from, whether to take home or sit down with.

All time favorite creme brûlée! Always a line when I come but moves very fast. Staff is friendly and all the pastries are super yummy.

Almost as good as in France! The crem brûlée was a huge hit with my daughter. Coffee was strong and flavorful. Dark chocolate chip cookie, rich and sumptuous. The chicken pesto sandwich was hearty. Served on crusty French bread. Solid piece of lean chicken. Satisfying and pesto with seasoning was tasty. Pricey. But definitely not an average run of the mill bakery. A treat on vacation, the way I look at it. If I lived in the area, I'd go there on occasion, not often. The smoked salmon sandwich, however had minuscule, next to nothing, pieces of salmon. It was more like a cucumber, tomato, a mayonnaise based spread on crusty French bread sandwich. Not terrible but truly not enough salmon to be legitimately called a "smoked salmon sandwich." Overall, a very nice upscale French bakery with a nice vibe. You are served on a "silver" tray - classy touch. Outdoor seating available. We enjoyed our table under the shade of a tree. Several dog owners with their cute little pooches outside.

I pickup desserts here every few weeks- favorites are the opera cake and the duke. Layers of chocolate texture upon chocolate. Recently the quality has gone down- I got food poisoning and was up all night from the pain. But, that was one time. I'll probably be back in a few weeks.

I am a bit late to chime in on this place that my fellow Yelp Elites have been raving on and on about for years now. The French Workshop is FANCY. The whole establishment--everything from its decor, pricing, and ambiance--is a bit out of place in a strip that's chock-full of boba shops, dive bars, and hole-in-the-wall salons and fast food joints. It's just so peculiar to me that such a place has been thriving among a mixed bag of different demographics that the other businesses are catering to. Then again, this is NYC. I've been here about 3 times now and I've got to say...I would find being at Martha's much more enjoyable for myself. I am obsessed with pastries and TFW is nice, but I wouldn't say that there are any pastries that truly excite me and have me wanting to get again--not the way Martha's layered red velvet cheesecake does to me. I've had their creme brulee cheesecake and was surprised to find that there wasn't the "crackly" texture as I would've expected but rather a just a raspberry jam layer. Their butter cookies are just okay, but don't blow me away the way that my childhood Italian butter cookies do. I do like their mille-feuille and have bought this for my mom in the last two times that I've been here and it is really flaky and has a good balance of the cream, but I'm not crazy about paying the $7 price tag for a few bites. Definitely a lovely place with a great ambiance to get coffee and a pastry but I prefer my no-frills Italian bakery...and Martha's, of course :)

4.5 stars. Love the creme brulee raspberry cheesecake from here. One of my favorite cakes to get for special occasions! I've also tried their fruit tart a few times which is very light. I wish the cream was a little deeper. Also can't go wrong with their small desserts!

Very sweet desserts and pastries. The interior is very nice and a great place to grab a cup of coffee and some pastries with friends. The bathroom is super clean and nice. I had the tiramisu but it was so sweet and way too much cocoa powder i was coughing from inhaling it. The cookies are super good though! I like how they offer sandwiches too.

I absolutely love this place! First off it's located on Bell Blvd where all the magic happens! There are so many great restaurants on Bell and this is by far my favorite dessert joint to come to after dinner. They have so many different options is overwhelming at first but no worries we just asked the staff to choose 5 of their favorites. It just makes things easier that way. Fruit tart is my favorite by far. I was really impressed all around.
