Absolutely love The Friendly Spot! Great drinks, delicious food, and amazing customer service. The atmosphere is super chill — perfect for relaxing with friends or enjoying a casual hangout. Highly recommend!

Great outdoor beer garden with a big TV in the main outdoor seating area. Two walk up bars, one in the front and then one in the back. There is a covered/semi indoor area with TVs in the back as well for when it starts to sprinkle. A small play area for kids with a slide is good for families with kids. They have a menu with food which is fairly average bar food but convenient nonetheless. Great place to go with your dogs (unless it has recently rained as the dirt ground turns muddy).

I like having a cold one while the kids play on the playground. In the background the tower of the America and im sure you can bring your pet. It's a nice pit stop before calling it a day. I had the pomegranate margarita 🍹 😋 I wish they had shiner on tap.

Google

First time here, I went with my son because my friend told me the place was a restaurant-bar with a playground. We had some drinks, fried pickles, wings, nachos, fries. Honestly I forgot to take pictures of the food/drinks but I liked it in general. My son had lots of fun and he played until they closed. I’ll be back for sure.

Google
We ordered our food off the QR code on the table. Our order when in At 748 and it took a while for the drinks and food to come out. Our drinks (2 beers) came at about 8:05 and at 8:09 I had to go up to the bar to ask about our burger. They brought it out at about 815. When it arrived it was only the burger. When we thought we ordered the burger and fries because that's what the picture showed. Well it was only the burger. The order only said meat and bun and we added cheese and it came with everything on it and no fries. The picture when we ordered showed fries so we were surprised when no fries showed up. We were not impressed. We liked that they had tables close to the playground and our kids like the playground but there were a few kids who were being too aggressive.

Google
The friendly spot is a cool casual place on a beautiful day! The staff is friendly and they have a good variety of drinks. The food is as expected. It’s not fancy but they have great nachos, chicken on a stick and fries among other drinking foods. Highly recommend if you’ve been walking, biking and want to hang out at a super casual place!

Google
We've been coming here for years. Great kid-friendly beer garden with an indoor space to cool down or escape from the rain. Excellent and quite extensive draft beer selection with many more in the cooler (if you're new to the place, don't forget to check out the back bar). The menu is simple but the food is well-prepared. Several TVs on premises and a large outdoor projection screen. Play area for the kids, but the kids corner can get a bit feral when crowded! Staff and patrons are friendly, service good.

John D.

Yelp
I came here with my family often, Nichole is a very good bartender, goes above and beyond for the customers.
google avatar

Yelp
I have not been here in years! It is still the same! I love it! Not much to say: Come by, get a good draft beer and Chill-the-F-UP!!! 1) Beer is fresh. You will fine one you like. 2) Food is available and good... don't forget where you are at ... don't expect 5-Star cuisine. 3) Staff is friendly and very accommodating. 4) They take cards and cash. Overall, love the place. Come by and stop for a beverage... you have earned it and deserve it! Cheers!
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
Thanks Nichole. Don't judge my spelling. :) We had a blast. Cold beers. Great people. Coming back when I am hungry for the nachos. Cheers.

Yelp
It was okay. If you have kids and visit during the day, this may not be the best option. Looks like a fun drinking spot in the evenings. We went in the middle of the day on a Saturday. There is zero shade. They have umbrellas at each table, but you are still getting straight sun rays. You will sit in your sweat. They do have a small play area but it's all dirt and loose gravel so if your kids happen to be in sandals which mine where, they will end up filthy. We ordered burgers, they were so overcooked and dry, they do not come with any lettuce tomatoes or pickles, literally just the bun and patty, for $15 which is crazy. We didn't have the best time at all. But again, if your single or without kids and come in the evening I'm sure it's a great time
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
Great spot in Southtown to catch a game. It's great for families and there is a play area that will keep the kids busy for a while! Further back is a covered area with plenty of fans.
google avatar

Alexandria P.

Yelp
This is such a fun spot to chill for a bit and let your kids also get some playtime in! The little playground is so much fun. The staff are so kind and helpful. We tried quite a bit of the food and all of it was good I definitely liked the tacos the best. There are tons of beers/cider options on tap or canned along with some other mix drink options! This would be a great place to watch a game and have a fun night out with your family/friends.

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of Southtown San Antonio, The Friendly Spot beckons with its inviting outdoor patio and relaxed atmosphere. It's the perfect spot to unwind with friends over a few drinks on a balmy evening. The vibe is casual and welcoming, with string lights casting a warm glow as laughter fills the air. Whether you're craving a cold beer, a refreshing cocktail, or a glass of wine, The Friendly Spot has something to quench every thirst. With its laid-back charm and prime location, it's no wonder locals and visitors alike flock to this beloved neighborhood gem for a memorable night out.

Yelp
Solid 3.5 stars for a great place with great brews. Outdoor hangout spots that kid friendly. They have beers on tap and beers in a can. During the winter (it's SA in December so, take that for what its worth), we picked this spot to get two families together. It is very easy to find, and during this the middle of the week with the smaller Bowl games getting some action, there is plenty of street parking nearby. The staff is friendly. The 'Spot wasn't manned only enough to serve the few folks that were there. What does that mean? For today, they asked for a lot of patience as they were balancing food orders in the back and one or two folks at the bar. As the temperature dropped we had to go for some sweaters and blankets in the car. It wasn't that cold, but heat lamps did not have gas in the tanks... so, they weren't available. We asked once, but they never came back... We tried some of their food. We tried the egg rolls. Let me say the effort was there... the food was warm, but the sauce was better than the egg rolls. I wasn't too impressed. So, I might pass on these. I ordered some boneless wings, which weren't too bad, but they were not anything to write home about. The Friendly Friend Chicken sammie was good. The Friendly burger was okay. All in all the best thing about the bar was the brews (or mixed drinks), not the food. That aside, it's a fine place to watch some football, basketball or other choice of sports on the big screen. A nice place to hang out and drink some beer... I might wait until it starts to warm up to get to this place. It is family friendly and dog friendly. It's a good 'Spot, but tonight wasn't their best night. I would try it out again.

Yelp
Nicole was awesome at serving us. Great music playing , kid friendly and pet friendly. Nice atmosphere with huge tv screen. Come out and relax. Food menu is great and so are the prices. Don't forget to grab those koozies.

Yelp
Coming from New England, I am so jealous of all of the unique outdoor set ups and spaces. The Friendly Spot is a family-oriented, open-air bar. There are almost two different areas. In the front there is a huge theater screen and a playground right across. The bar is in the middle of both and divides that front portion from the back. The back area has more outdoor seating and a really cool converted garage with tables and plenty of TVs to watch the games. There is another bar there as well with an impressive line of taps on the wall. It did look like they served food, but we were there just for the drinks. Glad to have stopped to soak in the great jovial vibe and watch the last quarter of the game. Great twist on the sports bar!
google avatar

Yelp
5/5 stars for being awesome at the concept it set out to be: fun casual family friendly outdoor bar and room-to-roam and play concept with great beer selection and enough decent food to feed the beer-enjoying masses. Service was super friendly and generally awesome. Layout worked both for the kids having fun and me getting to watch the World Series on a giant projector screen, free of cover. Food is simple and not fancy, but it goes with the vibe and casual everything that this place is. It's like an eclectic white trash family friendly kind of cool that I wish was walking distance to the house. Heck yes.

Yelp
So I came out on First Friday downtown, and my friends and I were pretty thirsty and looking for snacks. I've seen this place many times passing but never tried it. They have a huge television screen outside for folks to come and watch whatever sports are on, and there are a lot of seats inside the front and even in the back. They have a bar in the back that you can go and chill out if you want to be somewhat away from the crowd. Or you can go to the front where you can order food. You could even scan your table for the menu and order without having to wait, and they bring you the food, which I think is cool. We received our food pretty quick (I only ordered fries, fried pickles, and jalapeño). The food was actually decent. I wished that we had more sauce but would have to pay extra. I also ordered a blue moon from the bar, which was nice and cold. It was pretty cold out when watching the game and was semi difficult to find a clean table, but overall, it was a good experience. This is a place meant to be outside, nothing indoors really besides the bathrooms in the back. I think this is a nice spot to stop by when you want something quick and like to socialize. I would consider coming back here again.

Yelp
The Friendly Spot is a great place to get a beer or two! So my wife, and friend and I went to 1st Friday and decided to check out this spot. It's a good outdoor hangout. The big screen tv is perfect for the game, but there are also TVs in back showing other games. There is a playground for your kiddos so it's family friendly and dog friendly. The parking can be a challenge luckily we parked down the block. All in all I did like the place and as it says it is The Friendly Spot.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
This place is a nice meet-up spot or date location. It's an outdoor spot with some shaded trees and a small play space for kids. They offer some food items and lots of beer and drink options. The San Antonio heat didn't keep us away from having a good evening with friends.
google avatar

Lynn L.

Yelp
This is a large dog and family friendly spot with a very large patio and playground. We brought our dogs here and they had a good time. There was a small crowd, as it was a weekday afternoon but the drink I ordered was good, don't quite remember the name but it was refreshing and tasty. They have lots of TVs playing college sports so it's a good place to watch a game. Their food menu is straightforward bar food. The service was friendly. I might come back if I'm in town.

Yelp
I love visiting the Friendly Spot anytime I am in Southtown and the weather is good. This is a fun, outdoor meeting place with a variety of drinks and snack food as well. I love the environment and the bright cheerful area with a casual outdoor ice house vibe. I visit frequently and have consistently good drinks and a fun environment. On occasion, the staff has been inconsistent from bartenders that were less than friendly or not knowledgeable of what drinks are available. I understand growing pains and most visits have been great!
google avatar

Ambar A.

Yelp
Love this place. Every time we go we have a good time. We had never eaten here but this past time we got boneless wings and they were really good and also kind of spicy. The Michelada was delicious as always, and we got a table to watch the game. The only thing I don't understand is that they always have one bar tender at each bar even when it's packed with people. That makes the service really slow, but everything else is perfect. Great vibes.
google avatar

Leticia S.

Yelp
Yoooooooo watching a game, whilst sipping on Sangria, whilst eating delicious French fries and nachos.....that makes for a fantastic Sunday. Love the umbrellas and the vibe. The staff is super helpful providing water and asking if there was anything else we needed. Loved it and will definitely be back.

Yelp
The friendly spot in Southtown is a vibrant social hub that captures the essence of being a "friendly spot". It is the best place in the area for craft beer on tap, having at least 25 beers to choose from. The vibes are great, very chill and TVs all around for sports watching if that's your thing. One of the standout features of friendly spot is the large screen they have and spaciousness of the establishment. This makes this place a sought after destination to watch games in a lively setting. They essentially have a front and back section with separate bars. The back area of the patio is a bit smaller and there's a side room with seating inside. I noticed they had a propane fireplace going so you can keep warm on chilly evenings. The one thing I noticed is the ground is a dirt-like rock mixture so I would anticipate it gets very muddy after a big storm. Staff was GREAT and the place seemed clean for being an outdoor bar. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place on first Friday! Can't wait to come back. Peace.

Yelp
Friendly spot has good beer selection, lots of TVs, places to sit and chill with friends...basically has it all! Oh and if you have kids there is a playground with a slide and plenty of space. There is a changing station inside the backside of the main center building that is clean and spacious. There are also giant TV projectors that will play the hottest game or spurs game. This is the official (unofficial) afternoon and game night chill spot in King William!
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
Cool ambiance, especially to catch a game! There's a small playground for kids and a decent food menu! Service is satisfactory.
google avatar

Jerry R.

Yelp
This place is great to meet and drink. The food is mid. Make sure in the summer you get a spot under a tree. It is hot. But service is ok. They have a huge screen outside. So if you wanna watch the game of the day. They have a huge selection of drinks.
google avatar

Valeria Z.

Yelp
Great nachos, nice drinks! They have a DJ playing old vinyls of classic music. And the staff is really friendly. The barn needs more fans and trash cans but over all great place!

Makayla C.

Yelp
If I could leave 0 stars I would. The bartender Alyssa was either on something or completely drunk she had no idea what was going on. Don't plan on your food being hot either, they bring it out and don't even bother yelling the order number. Terrible service.
google avatar

Jose T.

Yelp
Very cool outdoor spot. They have a ton of beers on tap from all over the country and more in a bottle. Plenty of outside seating with a cool rustic vibe. You order at the bar from a fairly limited mostly Mexican menu. They call you when it's ready. They have a cool slide for the kids and it's dog friendly. They had the nachos half price so we went with those. The steak were good but the chicken were very tasty. Both had some queso blanco, black beans a sauce. My only issue is the food took forever and when we went to ask the guy said he got distracted and forgot to call us so the food was Luke warm. We were there for lunch but I'm sure at night it's much cooler
google avatar

Yelp
Ya gotta love The Friendly Spot, everyone's always down to visit this casual neighborhood bar. All outdoors. They have 2 bars with a great selection of beer & cocktails. (They might have wine too, not sure) They also have a kitchen with some solid bar food (burgers, fried pickles, etc.) When the weather is nice, this is where you want to be. They have plenty of seating. Fun place to watch a game too. They have a massive outdoor projector that's always playing something and they have a couple TVs in the back too. Dog and kid friendly. They even have a little playground slide for the kiddos to enjoy. Great staff. Definitely a pleasant place to gather with friends to enjoy some drinks and fresh air!
google avatar

Yelp
Nicole was amazing! Great service! Food and drinks were quite delightful as well! Highly recommend

Yelp
Met up here with friends and family! It's a great spot if you have young kids and want to relax with some adult beverages. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is decent and the drinks are good. It takes a long time to get your food order so be prepared to wait. I had the cauliflower and chickpea tacos; they were flavorful with great textures. The mahi majo tacos lacked seasoning. The nachos were yummy and great for sharing. Kids food was what you'd expect from a fast food place.
google avatar

Emiliano S.

Yelp
Friendly spot is located in Southtown, great outdoor spot with an amazing view of the tower of Americas. They have an amazing selection of craft beer and emphasize a family feeling as they have a playground for kids. Food is great, the nachos are my favorite but they have some sandwiches as well. My favorite time is around fall cause they have a large digital screen to watch football and spurs games. With the cool weather settling, it just makes a nice date night for the girlfriend and me. Staff is friendly and will make solid recommendations
google avatar

Yelp
This place is wonderful if you have children that like to run around. It's great for big groups and watching the game on the big screen.

Yelp
I'm not sure how I heard about this place, I had it bookmark for my must go to. Well, I invited my son to ride with me. When we walked up we both laughed because it had that I'M GOING TO HAVE A GOOD TIME vibe. We walked around diet just to see what the place was about. We first stopped at the bar located in the back. Explained to the guy bartender that we were first timers. Talk about a rude, unfriendly, don't need to associate with customers...he was a perfect example of who not to hire. He was a bit of a smart ass and NOT helpful at all. My son and I decided to find another place down the street. As we were walking out we looked at the bar located in the front and decided let's try one more time. Thankfully the crew up front was friendly and real helpful. We decided to stay and glad we got. The food was good and the drinks were better. STAY AWAY FROM THE BACK BAR. Satans step son lived there

Yelp
For my birthday this year, I wanted a really chill place where our kid can be entertained and we can enjoy some drinks outside. After some research and recommendations, we decided on The Friendly Spot and it did not let us down. My stepson had a really fun time on the playground with other kids, we enjoyed all our drinks, the food was good, and the weather was perfect for sitting outside. The music was good too. I couldn't have asked for a better lunch! Service was great as well. They really should get new chairs because all of them were extremely rusty. But other than that, it was perfect. Would come back!

Bren S.

Yelp
The friendly spot is one of my favorite places in San Antonio to sit with friends and have a long neck or draft beer. It's family friendly and they have a great patio. We can sit and visit and even watch the Spurs game if they're playing! I've been here several times, and Will be back!
google avatar

Mario E.

Yelp
Man! If you havent been here, youre missing out! Def come here a lot of Sundays for game days with friends. The drinks are amazing and staff are so friendly, esp Jake! Hi Jake! Great bartender! It's just an amazing place to hang with friends, meet new friends, your kids have a place to hang out and feel safe, and inside area if it's too hot or cold, Co-Ed bathrooms, so no more waiting in lines. Big screen TV's! I went this past summer for their anniversary and met the owners, they did it big, it was so awesome and have away so many different things to win. Only thing i suggest is instead of always a DJ, some live bands, that would be awesome.
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
We have been here many times. Food was always mediocre but today it was cold and disgusting. New way to order at table. Delivered to us by Julia (who was great). Fries were over cooked & cool. Fish taco cold. Steak nachos soggy & cold. When I ordered another beer at the bar I told the bartender about the food. He offered to remake. We were hungry so we had already eaten (except for the fries). Hot fries are important to me as I rarely eat them. Come for the beer & nice atmosphere but don't bother to order food. They also need more table umbrellas. Not all of us can sit in the sun. Will not return as there are too many places better to enjoy food & beer outside.
google avatar

LeRoy K.

Yelp
We attended a meeting here in one of their separate areas for groups. Very amiable staff and nice (open air) surroundings. The sound system and other arrangements made for an effective gathering. It's easy to get food and refreshments while meeting. In hot weather some may find it too warm; that's why I didn't give it five stars.
google avatar

Hailey E.

Yelp
This place is a really cool establishment, but they allow bad parents to ruin this place. I came here on a Sunday with a group of friends with their kids, the kids were all playing well and having a great time. Then the afternoon rush hits, People bring their kids here and get intoxicated while their kids throw gravel and dirt on other kids at the play ground and play rough throwing kids down the slide. When a parent finally speaks out and asks the kids to stop throwing the dirt the other mother gets aggressive and goes to the bartenders to try to get people kicked out. When I rebutted and told the bartender the kids had been throwing dirt and being unsupervised, both I and the mother were asked to leave. I closed my tab, rounded up the kids and got ready to leave. The other parent whose kid was throwing dirt and causing chaos stayed and continued to get intoxicated with no repercussions from the staff. If you're going to be a kid friendly establishment make sure to make sure the kids are provided a safe environment and parents aren't allowed to just get drunk while their kids run wild at the playground unsupervised.

Marybeth P.

Yelp
Nice outdoor place to relax and shed the weight of the day. Nachos ok-not great. Lots of COLD beverages.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're in the King William district... this is a great place to pop in for a quick beer, hang out for several, take in a game or just chat with friends. We always stop in here whenever we're in this part of town because it's just such a fun vibe and there's always awesome music playing. They try to live up to the name... the place is dog friendly, kid friendly... there's really no excuse to not come and hangout. Great selection of drinks and some decent bites if you're feeling a little peckish.
google avatar

Emily A.

Yelp
This really is a friendly spot! Dined in with friends on a Friday during rush hour. The weather was absolutely beautiful. To top off our long week the service was great and drafts were refreshing!

Yelp
Great experience every time i have come here.... UNTIL today..,, dude with dirty grey T-shirt long dark hair is a jerk. I asked him about my order and he says "did you not get instruction" while pointing to my receipt .There is a number on receipt that has an order number... and then points to the screen which was not in our view. So then my number comes up. I go to the pick up spot. He comes by and I ask him if anyone is bringing out the food. He points to this plastic bend and says..... "It's right there" .... With a total attitude!! I politely got the food, looked at him and said " I HOPE YOU HAVE A BETTER DAY BECAUSE TOU ARE AN ASSHOLE". Sat down and enjoyed my chicken nuggets, which are AMAZING and so are the fries but for that attitude I will just settle for air sandwiches.

Christine T.

Yelp
Atmosphere is incredible. Doggie and kid friendly. Highly recommend to take guests here.

Yelp
The perfect meeting place for people who have pets, enjoy the outside and want to share a beverage with friends. The Friendly Spot has been around for years and is the spot for a relaxed drink and meal. They have plenty of seating to meet friends for a drink before heading to explore South Town, or just hanging out. Although, I did not have food this last visit, I was able to enjoy a sunny Sunday with friends after breakfast. They all ordered the Sangria, which looked pretty good, while I had the Watermelon GT. It wasn't crowded at all, which is a plus in these Covid times, and there was plenty of seating. This is a good hangout to enjoy Summer evenings, or cooler Fall days. Its location is ideal, and their prices affordable. You can't go wrong as a start to your evening, or an early morning meeting.

Yelp
Come for the booze stay for the kitties! So, my friend and husband have been wanting to try this place out. We were in the area for First Friday so we decided to give it a try. It was pretty busy when we stopped in. The bartender was quick and attentive to my order. It looks like a small establishment but there is two large sitting areas . This place come complete with a small play area with a huge slide! They had the two areas projecting the football game that was playing. It's a rough looking place that seems a bit crowded. The bathrooms weren't the best, but they served it's purpose. I was a bit grossed out by the smell of urine all over the floor. People had kids running around and playing. Everyone was drinking and eating, and there was bunch of doggies. So, the name is befitting of the atmosphere. It's family friendly and welcomes pets. During the end of the night a couple of kittens ventured out looking for food. As a cat lover that was the highlight of my night. Lol The drinks are reasonably(ish) priced. They have a menu of good food and a wide range of drinks. It's an okay place to have a drink and hangout. Judge for yourself and enjoy a nice cold drink.

Yelp
This spot is a great place to chill. You're sitting outside under the stars. Huge projector screen with the game on. Cheap beer. Friendly and attentive staff. Food: I had the chicken sandwich with jalapeño poppers. Good food. I definitely would visit again. Ps: tons of people bring their dogs and everyone's friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
The friendly spot is OPEN! Pick up your beer and food to go. Plus!!!!! THEY ARE FILLING GROWLERS!!!!!!!! I have wanted to get growlers filled here because they are inexpensive and have a great variety of beer. If you can't find something that you like, then go pick up some ultra because they want real beer drinkers here! You will have to buy some kind of food because they have to sell alcohol with some food. Whatever you do, you need to visit and #supportlocalbusiness".

Yelp
The Friendly Spot Ice House is the perfect place to grab a cold beer (or margarita) with friends. I've been here multiple times during the years, and I love how relaxing and low key this place is. If you are a beer lover, you are going to love the friendly spot, because they have one of the largest selections of beers in the city. My dad had been looking for a barrel aged beer all over the city, and surprisingly enough The Friendly Spot had it on tap! They also sell micheladas, margaritas and a few other frozen drinks. Last time I was here, I order their Wu-Tang and it was definitely a mistake. It was WAY too sweet, and not my cocktail of choice for a 100+ Texas summer day. If you are looking to grab something to eat, they also have a few food options which are pretty good. I usually go for their nachos, because they are great and easy to share with a group. My favorite thing about the Friendly Spot is how family-friendly and dog-friendly they are. They have a small playground for kids to run around, which is super safe. They also let you bring your dogs, as long as you have them on a leash (and are well behaved). ps: They also have a mega screen where they play all of the Spurs games.

Yelp
We stumbled across this awesome outdoor bar by luck walking around the King William Historic District. The Friendly Spot Ice House has a huge draft beer selection and lots of fun going on through out the dirt lot that makes this place even cooler. This place is by no means nice but there is tons of eclectic outdoor seating (think vintage metal), tons of beer, pets, and a vibe that can't be replicated. There is even a playground for kids. This confused me for a minute, the whole kids at a bar thing but all was good, even the kids were having fun. Its like daycare at a bar. This place is entirely outside and there are two bars, only one was open when were there. They also serve food but we did not try anything or even look at the menu. I highly recommend if you live in San Antonio or are visiting as we were and want to check out a unique spot. You will be happy you did!

Yelp
I went on a Friday afternoon. The front was super busy which was cool. There was a huge back space that had plenty of seating. There was a bar in front and in back. Both had excellent servers. The thing that set this bar off from others was the fact that it had so much to do. There was a slide, multiple projector screens for movies, foozeball, giant connect 4, etc. The name was night a lie. Everyone there was super friendly. The house cocktails were super tasty. And at a decent price. I really enjoyed this place.

Yelp
This place has always been a favorite. It's a great place to hang out with friends and your well behaved dogs. It has a laid back atmosphere and everyone fits in. Day or night, you'll see this place full of people just wanting to relax with a cold one in their hands. The area is well shaded, but it can still get hot on a summer Texas day. For those that can't handle the heat, they do have an enclosed area in the back. It would be nice if the place had fans for the days the wind isn't blowing. The two bars make it easy to grab a drink. They also have snacks, but I've never had them. If you have kids, no problem. This place is also kid friendly. Parking can be an issue. You will have to find street parking. Most days, this isn't an issue, but if you go on first Friday, good luck.
