We had a fantastic experience at The Funky Taco in downtown Boise! The atmosphere was super chill and inviting and the creative taco concoctions were unreal! Shredded carrots on my nachos? Yes please! And be sure to check out the stuffed churros for dessert! We were in town from Puyallup WA, and now hoping to see a Tacoma location someday maybe???

Google
The best tacos in town! All the flavours are on point, we had delivery several times while in hospital which really saved our tastebuds to get such delicious food that stayed yummy delivered! The corn chips are one of the best and we finally got a chance to dine in on discharge. All the dishes are fantastic with lots of fresh veg and herbs. We tried most of the tacos on the menu, both of the Nachos, the mushroom Birria and Brisket Quesidilla. Love the fusion of Asian flavours. Really cute interior for dine in and awesome friendly team. Thank you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Funky Taco – Boise, ID I was in town for a quick trip—moving my son back to Washington after he completed his Master’s at Boise State—and decided to treat myself at Funky Taco. I had the Surf & Turf Taco and the Carne Asada Taco. Both were bursting with flavor! The carne asada was just a bit salty for my taste, but still so good I’d order it again. Shoutout to our awesome server, Brennen, who made the experience even better with great service and a welcoming attitude. The vibe of this place is fun, creative, and laid back—just what we needed. Definitely worth a visit if you're in downtown Boise and craving unique, flavorful tacos.

Carne Asada is my favorite taco. Unfortunately now that I've eaten one at The Funky Taco, I don't think I can enjoy one from anywhere else!😅 Very tender and full of flavor. Chips and dips was terrific too.

Google
Odd Box - this is probably the best option for a quick breakfast in downtown Boise. Simple idea but awesome! Best to order online and pick up (it's just a pickup window on the east side of the Funky Taco's building). The breakfast options are soooo good and very reasonable for downtown. The employees are also super friendly. Highly recommend!

Delicious, fun tacos. Would go back again! Prices great for the portion sizes.

Caleb made me a wonderful Paloma at noon on a Wednesday. Can’t ask for much more than that. Oh, but I did ask for Tacos. And they delivered. I guess you can ask for more after all.

Yelp
Had dinner tonight at Funky Taco on our first night in Boise. Absolutely a 10 out of 10 across the board. The food was amazing, great variety and new tastes and spins on some traditional favorites. The service as top notch h as well. Caleb served our group of 9 and went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable one. We told him we were visiting for 4 nights and he wrote us a list of all the places we need to visit and try while in town. The hard part is we just want to go back to Funky Taco each night. Thanks for a great experience!

Yelp
Very innovative, flavorful food, great homemade hot sauces, and creative cocktails. Bartender Brennan was my guide on this culinary adventure, and he has my gastronomical trust going forward. From my taco selection, I'd say the Thaico and the Piggy Stardust were the standouts. Good flavor combinations on their own, but I wanted to explore the hot sauces. The green hot sauce was like a kicked up lime on your taco, just how Brennan described it. The mango pineapple sneaks up on you. But my real favorite is the blackened peach habanero hot sauce that has a real kick and a hint of smokiness. Brennan knocked the "Dealer's Choice" margarita out of the park with a beautiful mix of mango purée, coconut purée, tequila, Serrano simple, Cointreau, fire tincture bitters, and a Tajin rim. Ended the meal with a blackberry très leches. What a great first meal in Boise.

Yelp
One thing I will say about Boise is there are some dang good Taco joints in this city! This one was OK, but just OK. I stopped in on a quiet weekend for a bite to eat, middle of the afternoon! Despite the fact there was a less than half full patio I had to convince the gal seating me that if I sat at the large upright table (seated 6 but was facing out on the street) I would move if a large group flooded in and wanted my seat. All good... Now they do have a very good menu and I was very excited to try a few of the tacos. My biggest beef, while not eating meat was the cost of a single Taco...$7.50 for a Cauliflower taco? I wasn't super hungry so only ordered one with a side of rice and beans, with Guacamole...all of it a little on the high side for a Taco joint. I will say the flavors were very good. Service was good, great patio but there are a half dozen places within 5 minutes where I could have gotten as good a taco for a lot less money! Bean, OK...Rice..just OK...Guacamole was good...overall though just good, not great! I would come back if I was in the mood but really I would probably go to a few other places first for equally as good a taco for a lot less money! Do not mind paying for good food but make it worth the price, this was not. Great Patio though...if they let you take a seat when the place is better than half empty! KT

Yelp
I don't say things like this lightly - these were some of the best tacos I've ever had in my life! Do not expect authentic Mexican street style tacos, these are gourmet, unique tacos that have lots of flavor and are very well thought out and crafted. I had the Piggy Stardust, The Classic, and the Idaho Potato Tots tacos, and they were all equally delicious. She service was amazing too!

Yelp
This is where we decided to eat for Mother's Day and it did not disappoint. If you are like me and queso is one reason you go to Mexican food- then order the chips & dip. The chips are homemade 1/2 of a corn tortilla fried to perfection. The beer cheese (they don't actually call it queso) was perfect consistency and flavor. The best, freshest tasting guacamole and the salsa was very flavorful but not overly spicy. My husband and I ordered the same thing (we never do that) but we had a surf & turf taco and the classic chicken taco. How do I describe them? Do not order them thinking you are getting an average Mexican food taco- these things are very "funky" packed with flavor but do not resemble a traditional taco at all. The servers were all sweet. I will be back especially for the chips and dip.

Yelp
The Funky Taco is an okay Mexican fusion restaurant. I came here with a party of 4 for lunch and we were seated right away. The service was attentive, quick, and friendly. I ordered the Prawnto Tacos, which are two medium-sized shrimp tacos. As you can see from my picture, the tortillas were extra toasted which I usually don't mind but they were cold. Cold, extra toasty tortillas are no bueno. While the plating was pretty, the majority of the serrano crema was on the plate instead of in my tacos... All in all, I wasn't a fan of my visit and think that they have room for improvement.

Yelp
You want to! Tacos are delicious, really loved the Thai take. Absolutely get the Creamed Street Corn (when asked about, server's perfect response: "You want it") Great vibe. Awesome food. Love the decor too. Super comfy peacock blue booths inside. Only sadness: I wasn't feeling well and didn't get to try a margarita. If you go, have one for me??? Oh, and Caleb is one of the best servers I've had in a long time (and lots of travels)

Yelp
We are from Santa Cruz, California. It's been hard to find decent comparable food out here. But this place has the best breakfast burritos around. We drive from Meridian a few times a week for it. Highly recommend. If you appreciate quality, and good taste. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Where do I even begin? As a vegan I'm always looking for unique options when I visit a new city, and WOW did The Funky Taco deliver! I ate here 3 times while I was in Boise for a few days because I just HAD to try every vegan option on the menu. First thing I tried was the vegan nachos. I was not ready for how delicious these were going to be. They use halved tortillas and fry them for chips, which is amazing for scooping up all the nacho toppings. The beans and creamed corn were so flavorful, the marinated shiitake mushrooms were perfectly prepared and so savory, and all of the slaw, shredded carrots and radish brought so much freshness to the appetizer that turned into my meal. A MUST if you come here. I also had the berries and cream for dessert (the only vegan option) which was simple but delicious if you're looking for something light. Next visit I had the vegan verde enchiladas. Also a stunner! It definitely reads more like a burrito, but I've never had soyriso and potatoes prepared so perfectly, I almost questioned if there was meat in the dish because of how much flavor and texture was in them! The salsa verde was plentiful and there were also lots of greens inside that made it feel like despite the size of the dish. For my last visit I tried the funky fried rice nuggets and the flower power tacos. The rice nuggets are a OUT OF THIS WORLD. They are seasoned with five spice and then served with chili crisp, vegan kewpie mayo, pickled cucumbers and a fennel slaw that is to die for. This appetizer couldn't be more perfect! The flower power tacos were also a great balance between fried and battered cauliflower, beautifully dressed slaw, and fresh sprouts and radishes to top them off. On top of the food, every person we interacted with was so nice and made sure we had plenty of their house made hot sauces and sauces to enjoy with our meal. This place will be a MUST every time I'm in town!

Yelp
My husband and I went to The Funky Taco yesterday for lunch. We really enjoyed it! I got the Nachos, which were huge and delicious! Hubbs had to help me finish my meal. He got two tacos, pork and the surf n turf along with a side of beans. He didn't have anything left on his plate The service and atmosphere we're good! I bet it's a real hoot to go at dinner time. Thank you for a great meal!

Yelp
Funky is an apt description of this place. I liked the mix of music but the mix on the tacos seemed a bit sweet across the board. There was some good pickiness but we felt it was overpowered by sweetness. Maybe it was our choices? We had the piggy tacos, and the chicken and carne asada street tacos. The carne asada was tasty but everything came off as a bit too sweet. I felt it was not well balanced flavors. They upsold us a side of beans but be warned these are not refried beans. They were ok but the flavor was a miss for me again. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. If you are looking for funny and diffeeent give them a try. As a big fan of Mexican food I am going to take a pass on this place.

Yelp
This "funky" restaurant is amazing. I've bee there several times i this year and enjoyed their tacos. Then a few of us decided to try the vegan Nachos, and wow! A real hit with mushrooms, chips made on site, shredded veges such as carrots and other root veges, and a delicious cream sauce. They are now open Sundays (May 2024), and so far not slammed, so its a good time to wander in and try a taco or nacho.

Yelp
Amazing flavors. This isn't your average taco shop - far from it. The thought that went into the creation of each signature taco is totally unique and memorable. Wow! Great service too.

Yelp
Good tacos, margaritas and guacamole. First Thursday Jazz is excellent! Boise has some amazing talent.

Yelp
Unfortunately I had to edit my review. We got the happy hour nachos and they're $2 cheaper but less than half the size. Sucks because we used to love this place! Oh well!

Yelp
This place was really good pre covid but I'd have to say my last few experiences were subpar. Cut back on the salt chefs! My entire table had four different meals and we all shared it so it wasn't just one pallet or another experiencing it. The Macho brisket taco was like licking a salt brick...if you know, you know. The prawnto shrimp taco needs much more crema. The amount of cilantro on every taco was rediculous. It overpowered. My nachos were great. The homemade chips, pickled jalapenos, chicken and beer cheese on point as usual. The chicken burrito was so salty my wife took out the chicken. Everybody loved the papas and sauce appetizer. Service here is always excellent and ambience as well as location to downtown activites are great. But beware of the salty taco. ;)

Yelp
Ok. This place offers up fun unique Mexican fusion with a lot of imagination. It is simple, yet complex in flavor. I was in Boise on a business trip looking for a non-fancy place to eat. A really nice local bar tender at The Grove Hotel, told me to try out The Funky Taco. Shout out to her! Woot! Woot! The service was super friendly and the food was unique and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend starting out with the guacamole. Just enough for two as an appetizer. It was savory and salty, just the right consistency for scooping! The chips were fresh and homemade. For dinner, I ordered the "The Special Nachos". Hello!! You can tell a lot about a place by their nachos. They did not disappoint as they were bursting with flavor, sweet and sour from the pickled veggies and cabbage, that topped chips with a unique nacho beer cheese mixed with a spicy smoky shredded chicken roja. I washed it down with a refreshing Kombucha. My colleague ordered the Macho tacos filled with ancho coffee braised brisket. Let's just say there was some food envy going on from both sides of the table. If you are in downtown Boise, and looking for a bite to eat, this is a must try place!

Yelp
It's a fanatically gorgeous day here in Boise this late afternoon. We are seated by the Bob Dylan rendering. Landon is waiting on us. Started off with the special nacho with chicken, since the Korean nachos already set with the pork and ham topping on it. The macho is the beef brisket. $17.75. HH discount is $1 off of your bill. Doing a progressive meal in Boise tonight. Lots of places to at and too few days to hit them all. Salas are verde, mango habanero and a spicy peach. The special nachos was much taller than I was expecting. A lot of different sauces going on and it's all so good. The nachos are fried corn tortillas. The chicken are cubed and sizable chunks. The only thing missing was having enough chicken chunks for all of the big tortilla chips. It's a lot going on, but tasty. The mango habanero is slightly sweet and has decent heat to it. The peach has a Smokey flavor to the salsa, both of the hot salsas are good. Service was good as well.

Yelp
Was in Boise for a tennis tournament over the weekend & found this place. Nice fusion tacos , sky high nachos & Asada tacos. Spicy sangria.. yum

Yelp
Food was less than mid. Very spicy, and I like spice. Hostesses were dazed & confused, wouldn't recommend!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday night because the other Mexican restaurants were busy that were on our list or nearby. So we stopped in here and checked it out. We shared a plate of some mushroom type tacos with some sauce and chips and salsa. Everything was oily or greasy but decent.

Sierra B.

Yelp
We submitted an order for pickup online and arrived before it was finished. Per the websites suggestion to tip at checkout we had paid a 20% tip on our order. When we asked if we could sit on the patio while we waited for our food to be finished they told us we could sit over on the side but we mentioned it was too cold for us in the shade. Cue spending 20 minutes standing awkwardly outside the door while the restaurant was 3/4 empty because we weren't allowed to sit somewhere that it wasn't cold because someone might arrive who would want to sit there. Despite being paying and tipping customers we were treated like an inconvenience the entire time we had to wait for our food to be prepared.

Paige J.

Yelp
These tacos were amazing! I will absolutely be coming back I got the piggy stardust, a taco with pulled park exploding with flavor, the classics carne asada and it was also so flavorful. My husband got the Quesabirria tacos and those were amazing as well! Everything was very flavorful - and the service was excellent! Erin was our waitress and she couldn't have been nicer!
google avatar

Yelp
The funky taco was a trendy taco establishment on 8th street that had a cool vibe and great service. However, the pricing was a bit high as my Prawnto tacos were a little over $16 for two and came with two prawns each. The flavor was zesty and delicious but still, the high prices seemed to be a trend throughout the menu as many of the appetizers cost the same as the entrees. Overall, the quality of the ingredients were top notch and I'd be willing to try it again...on pay day!
google avatar

Yelp
Bold flavors and creative presentation. I appreciated the quesadilla like fried tacos - a little too bold of a flavor for my taste BUT still delicious! I also enjoyed my warm lavender honey lemonade everyone loved their dishes - PLEASE COME TO LA!!

Yelp
As digital nomads, we always try to find locally sourced, unique foods in each city we pass through, & The Funky Taco was just that! We were seated right away for our early dinner at 4:45pm. The menu is marked dairy free (DF) & vegan (V), & they offer corn tortillas to make a taco gluten free (ask the server about other gluten ingredients!) My partner loved his quesadilla & appreciated the cold glass (upon request) for his Modelo. The ingredients were a fresh explosion in your mouth, & all 3 signature hot sauces were a bomb addition. The only negatives that aren't a deterrent for us returning~ The waiter quickly closed our tab without asking while we were still eating, so we felt rushed & like we couldn't order more food or drinks. I wish my $14.25 tacos came with a small salad or side. All in all, we recommend The Funky Taco!
google avatar

Keizzel C.

Yelp
The tacos here were indeed funky... and by that you definitely don't see these flavor combinations anywhere else! Looks like a small space but they actually have seating upstairs so they make use of their space. We didn't have a reservation or anything but were able to get bar seatings during peak dinner hour on the weekend and were treated really well by the bartender! We came here assuming they would be more street taco size bites and we would grab a couple items and check out another place nearby buuuuut that was not the case. haha. It was a chilly night so we ended up getting a cup of their Pozole Verde which is a nice twist on the classic. It was flavorful and the chicken was really tender. For our mains we got the Korean Pastor and Shiitake Birria. The portions come with two tacos but they were huge and stacked with ingredients. I enjoyed the flavors of the korean pastor and thought it was great to try. The only thing I didn't like was that it was too wet which soaked the tortillas and made it hard to pick up to eat. The winner in my book was the birria! It was so unique but loved the crunch of the tortillas and the dipping sauce. It is a great option if you're not craving meat but don't want to sacrifice any flavors. If you want something to drink to pair with dinner be sure to try their sake cocktail.

Yelp
The food is ok, but the live music is deafening. Yes, you can get the exact same plates or better from Calle 75, or even Tin Roof, at good prices, too. I've eaten here a couple of times, and it was just fine. No, the real problem is FT seems to think that live music should be broadcast to the entire street at ear bleeding levels. When I went to FT and felt the bass guitar rattling my teeth from across the street, I turned around to eat at Bittercreek. I still had to eat inside because everyone had to shout over the music to hear each other. Not cool, FT. Edit: I started this in 2018 and never posted it. But I'm still so bitter, FT. I hope you either cleaned up your act or you went out of business. I am still so, so bitter.

Lesa S.

Yelp
We came to listen to music and that was fun! Didn't know they had Live Music here. The band was really good. Jazz Group not sure their name? It was a Thursday night. The only thing that put me off was when we first got there to grab a table this guy came up and didn't even welcome us just wanted to know how many in our party. Kind of rude. I understand that they don't want two people sitting at a 6 Top but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't take up a large table if I knew it would only be two people. Anyway it worked out ok because our waiter was really nice His name was Dalton and very helpful. My Shrimp Taco was so good!! The prices were a bit high! And they had Wine or Beer. The Carne asanda was delicious as well

Marissa L.

Yelp
Yesterday my family and I went to dinner, as the host was trying to seat us the server told her "no don't serve them" and then she went to take our number and said it would be 10-20 minutes, then told us we should go somewhere else. They never texted us to seat us after they took our number. Sucks because we love that place and probably won't come back.

Yelp
The Funky Taco sure does live up to its name! I had a wonderful experience here, drinking delicious beer and munching on creative, exquisite tacos while listening to music by local artists. The interior of the Funky Taco is brightly displayed with color artwork I'm assuming is done by local artists. I love it! It really does set the tone for the restaurant. The staff is super friendly too and very knowledgeable about their menu. Now to that..... There was so much delicious sounding food it was very hard to decide what to get. I finally decided to order the chicken roja, which included charred chicken thighs, onion, arugula, feta, watermelon raddish and lime crema. They also had three excellent hot sauces that paired excellently with the tacos. I must also rave about the side of cream corn that I got. It was spectacular! So much flavor and the taste was extraordinary! For only $4 it was completely worth it. The corn that was used was very sweet! I think I may need to stop back in here soon just to have more soon. Overall, I had a 5 star experience and will gladly return here anytime!

Yelp
Latest visit 15 April 2023... The good: puerco pibil bowl was epic and a nice value considering you get 2 meals worth of food for $27ish... great combination of savory, spicy, pickled, crunchy, soft, etc. My girlfriend's shrimp tacos were on point although she commented that some sort of creamy element would have been a nice addition. The bad: the guacamole we ordered to start was the saddest bowl of tasteless avocado glop I've ever had in a restaurant. Prepackaged store bought would have been preferable. I understand the need for a basic avocado spread or guac for plenty of dishes but if you're going to sell it as a $14 appetizer, some onion, tomato, lime, chilies, cilantro... should enter the recipe. I wonder if someone just screwed up the batch. I would also say that the guac portion was a it skimpy considering it came with a giant pile of chips but I kind of expect that. We pointed out to our server when she asked how everything was thst things were solid other than that the guac was pretty boring and she was immediately defensive, stating that she didn't make it ... Right. I assumed so. And I wasn't asking for anything to be done about the check etc. (maybe I should have?)... just answered her question honestly. Food overall pretty good... Probably losing my interest at $100 for two mains, 3 drinks, and a bad app.

Yelp
Best cauliflower taco in Boise, period. I come here regularly for that taco! We love the meat and nachos here as well.

Yelp
Don't go without getting chips and guacamole! This place is definitely funky! We started off with their house-made chips and guacamole and I could've eaten them nonstop. For the entree I ordered the simple tacos. Chicken, Jack cheese, queso, and cabbage. So yummy! I'd order again. My husband ordered the macho tacos that have brisket in them and he loved them as well! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
The Funky Taco is a cool like taco place in downtown Boise. The food is great and delicious. I got the Korean Pastor and was quite happy with their creation. Unfortunately, the service is atrocious. We had someone in our party get forgotten about. We ended up having to check on our order a couple times and just about when we were ready to cancel it showed up. This was a 45 minute affair at least. Quite unfortunate that such great food is spoiled by terrible service. I don't think it was an off night either as we saw other tables that showed up after us get served. Hopefully y'all can take this experience and improve your service for customers in the future.

Yelp
The funky taco is a great lunch date destination. With a playful vibe. Everything has an oriental spin, and loads of flavor. Service was efficient and through. Take your friends and grab lunch!
google avatar

Kurt G.

Yelp
At first you will think, $14 for tacos, in Boise! Ok, good point, $14 for tacos in Boise, and that doesn't include beans or rice or chips. Still fairly filling with lots of good tastes. Good service. Ok ambiance Worth going, especially now that downtown is so busy during weekend dinners.
google avatar

Joyelle C.

Yelp
If you're in the area and have the coin check out Funky Taco. Prices ($$) and portions (2 tacos) really normal these days isn't a crazy story these days. The Avocado toast and pork tacos were very flavorful. The corn was odd i was hoping for an elote style corn. Wouldn't order corn again. Overall Food delicious. Observed a few orders of nachos leaving the kitchen. Apparently that's a must and we didn't order them. There is a bar however it's mimosas ect no tequila. Service was outstanding! Delightful young lady was professional, attentive, personable, confidently made suggestions. We were celebrating my Besties birthday I mentioned that, I didn't ask but it seemed as though there are no perks for celebrating birthdays at the Funky Taco.
google avatar

Travis N.

Yelp
Great service at a fantastic location! I loved the menu and the fusion of flavors. Prices were fair for the location but the portion size was disappointing. When I paid $16 and two mid-sized tacos roll out with no sides... bummer. Three is the industry standard at this size/price point with sides optional. Would I return? No. Would I endorse it for a friend? I suppose so.

Yelp
The owner of Funky Taco, while great at creating some amazing tacos and appetizers, does not appear to know sh!t about running a restaurant. Or maybe he just doesn't give a sh!t about hospitality. Since opening, he has employed some of the worst, laziest, most entitled servers and staff in all of Idaho. Last time we visited, our server seated us at our table outside and never came back. Fortunately, we already knew what we wanted to eat, so we gave her our food order when we were seated. But told her we needed a minute to decide on drinks. Our server never came back to get our drink order. Every server at every other table outside visited each of their tables multiple times over the next 10-15 minutes. After sitting outside, with our 15 month old son, in 95+ degree heat, for over 10 minutes, we had to flag down another server just to get water. Our server visited her other table, directly next to ours, but never stopped at ours. We chugged our glasses of water then sat at our table for over 20 minutes with empty water glasses. Not a single server offered us water. Again, in 95+ degree heat. With a 15 month old son (fortunately, we brought a water-filled sippy cup for him). Our server very hurriedly visited the table next to ours a few times, but ran off so quickly each time that we couldn't get her attention, despite repeatedly politely trying. After over 45 minutes, (keep in mind, the restaurant was not particularly busy), one of our entrees came out. But not the other. And not the appetizer that should have come out long prior. Also, it was not delivered by our server. When we pointed out to the server who brought the entree that we never received our appetizer, she grabbed our waitress to snottily responded "I dunno, I put in the order!" She offered zero apology whatsoever. And accepted zero responsibility whatsoever. Over 10 minutes later, the other entree and our appetizer came out. Again, with zero apology or acknowledgement. The appetizer (funky fried rice nuggets) was very overcooked. We've had them before and know how they're supposed to look/taste. We tried one and didn't touch the rest. The head server/(manager?) came to our table several times (since our server didn't) and never acknowledged any of the countless issues with our experience. He's even the one who brought out the second entree and appetizer over 10 minutes after the first appetizer. Every time we needed water, or anything, we had to flag down another server (all of whom attentively visited their numerous tables countless times the entire time we were there). The only other time we saw our server was after we flagged down another server who tracked down our server to bring us our check. Which she eventually did, after waiting far too long. We asked if the owner was present and we were very curtly told "no!" This was, buy far, the absolute sh!ttiest service we have ever received the the 16 years we've lived in Boise. And not the first time we've received worthless service at Funky Taco. The owner of Funky Taco, while a great cook, knows jack sh!t about hospitality. He needs to get some training or hire a restaurant manager who cares. Until then, we've spent our last dime at Funky Taco. Update- just read some other reviews, sorted "Lowest Rated" and there is a pretty consistent theme- the service at Funky Taco is sh!t. It is clear that the owner doesn't care. I see no reason to eat here when the counter service at Del Taco is literally light years better then this hospitality craphole.

Yelp
We dropped in for lunch... We shared the Flower Power tacos and the special which was flank steak with fixings. The Flower Power were cauliflower breaded with a spicy crème sauce... Both were very good. Recommend with a good beer!

Yelp
We visited this restaurant this past Friday evening (August 12) and had some of the best tacos ever. My wife had the excellent brisket tacos. And I had the "keep it simple" grilled chicken tacos which were delicious. The chips with the beer cheese dip are a must as well. I regret I didn't get pictures of the meal - but we devoured the food so quickly. The Funky Taco is a 'must visit' place if you travel through the Boise area.

Yelp
We came in a reasonable time and food came to our table fast! Their chips are interesting, it was a tortilla cut in half and deep fried but it was tolerable. Their nachos are alright, kind of annoying to eat them due to the large size of chips and an unnecessary large amount of carrot garnish on them, but if you're patient, get them. Their macho tacos are really good, but they were crazy salty today. I don't agree with the price of the Simple Tacos they have, it was $16 for two tacos that had very little meat in it.

Yelp
Very bummed. We've tried to order take out from them twice this spring, one of those times was for my moms birthday dinner. Both times they were not doing take out and did not state so clearly on their website. It was a big disappointment and a big waste of time. Past experiences have been good but to not only not offer takeout during a pandemic but also not clearly state so is one star quality for us.

Yelp
We went in because it looked like a cool place to eat with outdoor seating in a fun part of town. They weren't busy at all at 4:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. We had char'd chicken tacos. Definitely nothing to write home about--especially for the price. I guess they have to pay their rent somehow. The service left a LOT to be desired, too. I'll eat at another place nearby instead of this one.

Yelp
The ambiance here is very fun, especially on nights where they have live music. We dined outside and the seating and service was both great. For appetizers we ordered the elote dip with chips, so good! It was like a corn cheese dip but had a lot of fresh ingredients too, so it's not your average queso. The drinks were really yummy handcrafted cocktails, we came at happy hour (after 9pm) and I believe drinks were $1 off. Didn't save a ton of money on happy hour, but we definitely got enough food and drinks and the tab wasn't too crazy. The tacos are HUGE. I probably could've had 1 taco and been happy, but I pushed my limits and was beyond full after eating my whole plate. The Korean pastor was spicy, sweet, and fatty. I added some of their mild garlic hot sauce that they make in house. The macho taco was braised in a coffee and ancho rub SO GOOD. We put a good mix of the medium and spicy hot sauces, to add a kick! I wanna come back and try the nachos and maybe some vegan tacos!

Yelp
The service was very prompt and we were seated right away which was great. We ordered the daily special the Carne Asada. Ok this was definitely the star of the show! This place is absolutely amazing and garners a rate 5 star rating because if it. We are coming back to this place, their guacamole is off the chart and the meat for the carne asada...seasoned perfectly. Please don't wait, come to this place you're going to love it!
