Lovely traditional hotel in Georgetown. Staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was really nice, big comfortable bed, plenty of storage, coffee maker and fresh bottled water (no charge). Bathroom was compact but had everything you needed, good shower, toiletries available including shower cap & cotton wool pads. They also have a great information binder for places to visit. Reception area is lovely with a coupe if seating areas. They have a restaurant & bar attached, really nice vibe and worth a visit. Finally, a nice touch from the staff was leaving chocolates & a card advising the weather forecast for the following day.

Great Hotel location. In the middle of town and a quick 15 min walk to Georgetown. That being said I would never stay here or recommend staying here to anyone. This hotel has the worst beds I have ever slept on in my life. A sleeping bag on the floor would be more comfortable. Very old and hard and you could feel every spring and lump. Even though location was great I would never stay here again. I am in my early 30s and this bed messed up my back so badly that it actually threw my back out. I understand hotels is just a place just to sleep and I was fine with older bathrooms but comfortable bed is a non negotiable. You should not be waking up in pain from a bed. Do not make the same mistake just because location.

Room was simple and clean. Bathroom was a good size with excellent countertop and below sink storage. Bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. Bar was big and accommodating. Lobby was spacious. But there was no mini fridge in the room!

The good: Great location, no hidden charges like a hospitality fee, valet parking was very convenient and just $40 (compared to $60 elsewhere in DC). There was no mini fridge in the room but one was provided upon request at no charge. The not so good: The TV screen was the smallest I’ve ever seen in a comparably sized hotel room; ridiculously small. The sliding bathroom door lacked a basic handle. Details matter. All in all a nice place and a good value but needs a passable TV!

I stay here several times a year and have a great experience every time! I always request a room on the Wisconsin Ave side, and it's always ready for me, even with an early arrival. Clean, comfortable, convenient -- what's not to love?? Speaking of which, I Love getting the pleasant 'good morning' and 'good evening' greetings from staff at the front desk and in the lobby. The adjacent restaurant, 1310, is terrific too. Looking forward to my next stay a couple months from now.

Very nice experience. The bedrooms are big and beds very confi. The hotel is very central and close to all amenities. We managed to walk everywhere. The Potomac river is down the road. This means Nice walks along the river. All together highly recommended

Absolutely rude people at the front desk. Shocking considering the price. At check-in there was no welcome or information about what they are charging us, just very transactional. Then had to go back to ask how we join the wifi and literally the lady responded ‘what do you mean’ another woman at the deak said on its on your key packet- no one ever informed us, again just no level of service or kindness from the staff. Your in the hospitality business and there is a minimal level of expectation! No smiles no positive energy from anyone. Room AC is on but doesn’t seem like it’s working…no air and the rooms feels very humid. Room was bigger than expected could be more updated but wasn’t bad. It’s a shame given the location but front desk staff needs re-training and attention to detail given the prices!

I always hate to do bad reviews but people need to know this place is not worth the money. The rooms a very beautiful but if feels like the air conditioning is always fighting for its life to cool down the room. There is no mini fridge in room so if you have leftovers from dinner there is no where to put it. The town is beautiful but traffic can be a nightmare. Out of all of the staff I talked to here only one man was friendly. The rest are just horrible. There is no parking unless you pay $40 a day which is insane to me because I parked and picked up my own vehicle. Find somewhere else if possible!!

Yelp
The hotel is a mess...construction. Rooms are bare-no rugs...it's like a motel 6 level. They have no customer service at all...no customer care. Also a prepaid roomis not prepaid...& they really don't care at all if you are dealing with traveling and resting. They made us waste the only 15 minutes of rest before we had to be at work re registering the rolm that I had already spent time on the phone confirming for my additional party. No care for people. Stay elsewhere- For sure. With respect Rachel z

Yelp
The Georgetown Inn is a very nice hotel down the street from the university. The lobby was recently updated in 2024 and new floors were installed in all the rooms. It is still an older hotel and use some updating in the rooms, but for the convenience of being in the center of Georgetown and close to the school for Georgetown parents you can't beat it. In general, the prices are reasonable. Also, parking is included with AAA.

Yelp
I've stayed here several times before, though admittedly many years ago. I have to say this visit has been disappointing. Still appreciate the great location. The breakfast in the dining room atleast on the weekend was quite good. The front desk has lots to be desired. There is zero sense of hospitality. On only one occasion entering the hotel (out of probably 10) did anyone even acknowledge us. It's a very small lobby. The girl at the front desk has her head buried in her cell. They also have a very confusing mix of checking in online but then checking in again on arrival, digital keys but need for card key to enter the elevator and no one explained that once you use the digital key for the room the card key is deactivated. Silly and inconvenient. If you're going to be tech be tech...

Yelp
I have always enjoyed a stay at the conveniently located Georgetown Inn when in DC for business. The new remodel has left the rooms and hallways without any soundproofing at all. After two sleepless nights with rambunctious college students partying around and above my room on a Sunday and Monday night, I would recommend absolutely anything else to those that need to sleep. Extremely disappointing.

Yelp
Here's the thing: Hospitality is as much a science as it is an art form. I moved our reservation here after realizing all the hotels had shut down room service and I prefer an inn vibe to a hotel anyway. I booked online and called the front desk to advise that we wanted a room far from the elevator and stairs because we were trying to get away from our children for one night. I asked and was advised that there was no room service or bar service available so I gamely packed half my house for a one night date night with my husband. We arrived to the perfect room in the perfect location. A lovely room on the perfect part of the floor with views from both the siting room and bedroom. The room had beautiful furnishings, the bed was cozy and meticulously clean- not a stray hair or stain in sight-and the lighting was great! I set up our New Years' Eve feast and wiped down al the tables and surfaces with the Lysol wipes from home and there wasn't a speck of dust on anything. It was Clean CLEAN y'all! The one thing I will say is that the heating and cooling aren't controlled in the room, it's master controlled so you have to contact the front desk to change the temperature. It was literally 60 degrees when we checked in. She put it on 82 next and Tried to burn us out. We asked for 70 and she set it at 75, it was hard to breathe when sleeping I'll be honest. The shower was great sized, hot water got heated up quickly and the linens were soft and fluffy! The bathroom was great except for the ice cold porcelain tiles that made it feel like your bones were frozen. They also have bidets in the room which I rarely see in American hotels, it was nice. We ate, we danced, we talked, we watched Soul, we watched five minutes of the ball drop, had our toast and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Until midnight. When our neighbors entered their room. Y'all, this hotel isn't even HALF full and they put a family with ACTUAL BABIES NEXT TO US. We left our home to sleep in since my sister, who lives with us, is off work and was okay with babysitting. We asked for a quiet room and made clear we were escaping our children for a QUIET SLEEP IN. And yet, WE WERE AWAKENED BY SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILDREN AT EIGHT OF THE O' CLOCK ON NEW YEAR'S DAY. Hospitality is both an art and a science. Not everyone has it and if you don't, the hotel isn't worth the price of the best housekeeping manager in DC. UGH.

Yelp
The negative reviews are surprising but I guess I can understand where they are coming from. I'm not here to do their emotional labor, though. This review is about my experience. A family medical crisis brought me and my mom to Georgetown suddenly. We live in Southern Maryland and my dad had a stroke. He was cared for by MedStar Southern Maryland but required advanced treatment at MedStar Georgetown. For the first few days of his stay at Georgetown, we commuted from Southern Maryland but it was very inefficient. We knew dad's recovery was linked directly to our immediate availability. We discovered the Georgetown Inn merely by looking through the visitor resources page on the hospital's website. We ended up checking in there entirely out of convenience. It was the second hotel listed on the hospital's website, but the first option -- which is actually on the hospital's premises -- was closed. The listing for Georgetown Inn promised a short walk between the hospital and the hotel. We were sold. As other reviewers have indicated, compared to other hotels the amenities are lesser. I would characterize the Georgetown Inn as resembling hotels from the 90s, back when I was an adolescent and my family and I enjoyed going on roadtrips from Maryland to places like Disney World, Hershey Park, Manhattan, Niagara Falls, etc. Back then you had your Holiday Inns, your Howard Johnsons, and your Choice Hotels. Today's hotel selections are various offshoots of existing high end properties, such as Home2 and Tru, both of which are under the Hilton brand. They offer amenities similar to the mother hotel brand except in more affordable ways. What I'm trying to say is that the Georgetown Inn is a bit of a throwback because its property and amenities remind me of my youth in the 90s. That's not necessarily a bad thing. As a sudden, basically last-minute booking decision, staying here worked well for our needs. The hospital was indeed within reasonable walking distance to the hospital, which helped us come and go and stay as long as we wanted to stay with my dad without having to worry about making the commute back to Southern Maryland. Although we were not able to afford to stay more nights, the last-minute booking rate wasn't bad, especially since the hotel offers a 15% discount to family members of patients at the hospital. So no, in today's high end demands for luxury at every price level, staying at the Georgetown Inn might not necessarily be on anyone's radar. But our room was a stunningly comfortable oasis for this grieving son and mama struggling to help my dad get healthy again. We loved our room with two very comfortable queen beds and there was even a little sitting area! The beds were great to sleep on after long days at the hospital, and the sitting area was great to lounge in when we wanted to decompress but not actually go to sleep. The hotel staff was amazing as well. The housekeeping folks were so gracious and kind with some requests we had. I never got the bell hop's name, but he was also very kind. He even showed me how to use the futuristic-looking water machine in the lobby. He went out of his way to be welcoming. My biggest praise goes to the front desk staff. Clarissa was so sweet and friendly when we chatted about our respective experiences with family health emergencies. Unfortunately, I didn't get the names of her other colleagues from other shifts, but they were all women who were kind enough to answer our questions and address our concerns. I could not have asked for a better hotel for my mom and I to stay in during this difficult and vulnerable time.

Yelp
Someone help me understand the allure of this hotel. 1. No one offered to hold the door or help me with my bags of which I had several due to long term travel. 1a. Heading out to dinner, I overhear a different person complain to the front desk about the noise from a compressor outside his hotel window--remember this. 2. After settling in I went to take a shower only to realize the floor was flooded. I rushed to clean it up. 3. My partner calls the front desk and is offered an upgraded room--cool. Only to receive a follow-up call that the hotel was sold out. Someone is sent up per my partner's request to help us clean the bathroom and provide us extra towels--cool. 4. The person comes and peeks into the bathroom and tosses the towels on the floor. Mentions someone will be here in the morning to repair the bathroom. Not good--I have to go into the office in the morning and so does she. 5. My partner calls back to the front desk asking if we could be transferred to an equitable room--no upgrade necessary and the front desk says, sure! And, someone will be up with the room keys. 6. Do you see where I'm going with this? We get moved to the room with the loud compressor outside the window but, a working shower. Rimshot!

Yelp
I found this small, charming hotel right in the middle of Georgetown totally suited my visit. The rooms are lovely and newly renovated, the staff is friendly and accommodating and the restaurant 1310 is outstanding. You can't beat it for convenience and fair price. Book directly with the hotel and ask for the managers special for 20 percent off!

Yelp
Super hard bed! not sure who these people were that wrote reviews saying comfy bed and soft... Unless it was the owner and employees writing them. We travel a Lot and I've only experienced one other hotel with a bed this firm. Felt like sleeping on an old sofa bed. No padding at all and on top of it, the springs made a noise, and you could feel it if your spouse moved 1 inch. Super creaky. Which is a shame because the room looked nice and we had a lovely view out on Wisconsin and the room was very quiet. No traffic noise at all. But we got no sleep the first night. And I mean, literally tossed and turned the whole night trying to sleep. And we were there to look for a place to live as we are relocating. It ruined our whole trip. We left without getting to see areas we needed to see because of the lack of sleep. To top it off, the manager was not only completely unconcerned but tried to tell us that the beds were indeed super comfy and that were the only people that ever complained. I absolutely do not believe that. there's no way. We went out and bought a topper, which ate up more of our second, and only other day to look for a home. And cost us $80 . But at least we were able to get some sleep. It helped a little. We told them we were buying a topper. You'd think they'd offer us a complementary glass of wine or some thing from their attached restaurant. Absolutely nothing. Manager called us a liar and said the beds aren't hard basically. I was told all the mattresses are the same and they did let us see another room and it was exactly the same super hard mattress. If you like a really firm mattress than this hotel could be a good fit for you because it's been a good location and everything else was just fine.

Yelp
I and a girlfriend make an annual visit to Arlington Cemetery in honor of a dear friend whom was killed in Afghanistan. Over the past few years, we have chosen to stay in Georgetown and happened upon the Georgetown Inn. Even though Georgetown Inn is an older hotel and its amenities are not what I would call up to modern day standards, we've had comfortable stays in a nice location even if the hotel was often under renovation. One year it snowed while we were visiting which offered a serene and tranquil setting in light of the reason for our visitation. Unfortunately, snow is somewhat a challenge for the hotel to handle. Although the valet was kind enough to remove the snow from our car after 6 plus inches blanketed the city (there is no garage parking at the facility), they unfortunately severely scratched my car in the process. When I addressed this with the management, they initially told me they would have to wait to respond because the owner of the hotel was out of the country. Upon the owner's return, their response was "Our policy is to only clear the windows of snow for our guest. After discussing this situation with the proper people, we unfortunately will not be accepting responsibility for the scratches on your car." PS.. Regardless of their "policy", the valet DID clear off my ENTIRE car AND severely damaged it in the process. For those of you considering this as your venue of choice, please be AWARE of this especially if you visit during snow season.

Yelp
I reserved a room here coming in from Chicago to help move my daughter anticipating this hotel to be as described on its website. I was quite excited, anticipating a lovely little getaway after being Covid-ly locked up for 10 months. I give grace for Covid restrictions, so I'm not being harsh.... What I got was one a horror show. First room, the heat was stuck on 87 and could not be turned off. I had unpacked and was exhausted. Took me to another room, to find the window literally detached from the wall, open to the street. Took me to yet another room... nope, no heat. Then gave me a "suite". A filthy moldy place, the bed as old as the hotel, the bathroom just an after though with no heat whatsoever, mold covered over with paint. The heater above the bed began shaking and groaning at 3 am. I honestly thought it would fall on me. I got up, packed, and cancelled the rest of my stay, took a cab to the Marriott at 7 am. I could not get out of there fast enough. It's not fair to advertise dishonestly, and I would not have stayed there had I read an honest review. I don't like to write bad reviews, but feel it only right to protect other people from a really rather unfortunate place. They said they were refunding my evening, but actually didn't. Pity, as, I'm sure it was and could be a real gem.

Kevin J.

Yelp
The only place we stay when visiting our daughter. Great location and very reasonable parking. Right in the heart of Georgetown. Perfect for walking and shopping. Plenty of great restaurants nearby and the 1310 on site restaurant has amazing chicken pot pie. Friendly professional staff who remember us each time we return.

Yelp
It's a fairly "historic" hotel of 50 years, so it was kind of expected maybe that the room was a bit stuffy smelling and I wished it wasn't because everything else about this place is great. The location is fabulous on a a main Georgetown street that is lined with adorable shops and spots to dine and drink. Just blocks from a lovely canal and then the Potomac River, it is very walkable and something you should do. Amenities are the usual, and it has a fitness and business center, but if you need something printed you can email it down and they help you out. I am here for the Kennedy Performance Center National Opera production of Wagner's Ring Cycle and our group is staying here so it was not our choice, but it is a good one, affordable and so very convenient. I saw here that some people mentioned the paper thin walls and yes, you can hear everything that goes on next door and in the hall, so keep it down.

Yelp
I stayed here again, two years later, for another five-night stay. In the interim the hotel has undergone a renovation and a very nice one at that! I definitely noticed a difference from the last time around. My room was very well appointed and extremely comfortable. Everything I said before still holds, this is the place to stay not only in Georgetown, but for any visit to DC. It was extremely convenient to catch a Lyft/Uber out front and I easily walked to Dupont and Adams Morgan, not to mention the Georgetown waterfront. I also wanted to give a shout out to the staff. Every person I interacted with over the phone or in person was incredibly professional, polite, and friendly. They really made me feel welcome. This is my go-to hotel in DC, for sure.

Michael F.

Yelp
It seems they have almost finished the remodel, which didn't always go as smoothly as it should have. I really like staying here. The staff is always friendly and competent, and the new rooms are nice. New phone key app doesn't quite work yet, and there aren't fridges in the rooms yet. The beds are comfortable. I've stayed here enough to have expressed some preferences, which haven't been tracked to my next visit even though they were kindly noted. Hotel wifi is slow as molasses, but will stream low quality movies. Listed a few negatives, but otherwise it's quite nice.

Yelp
Terrible. Dasha at the front desk was rude and lacked any bit if customer service. We stated here and on the second floor there was construction going on. When we got off the elevator there was a plastic sheet to cover the whole hallway. The brick and roof was exposed. Left to the dinner were attending and Dasha questioned us as if we were "homeless" and said we can not use the facilities. Never experienced such atrocities. This hotel is NOT recommended.

Yelp
Not sure why the negative reviews... Pros: 1. Front desk was very prompt and efficient at checkin, checkout, and also for getting the pass for the DC sports club. 2. Great location, lovely part of town that still has lots of people out past 10pm on weekday. Sure, it's not in the middle of DC if you are trying to do sightseeing, but the area is really nice. 3. Amenities were perfectly fine and functional. 4. The biggest pro for me was the FREE guest access to DC sports club. Unlike most people who use a hotel gym to pretend to work out, I try to still do serious workouts while traveling, and a hotel gym will not cut it. I have yet to see a hotel gym with a power rack and over 300 lbs of plates. Or a surface for conditioning with a sled that can be loaded with weights. Cons: 1. No snack stand at front desk, though 7-11 and CVS are a block or two away. 2. No "weight room / gym." However, they give you a pass to the nearby DC sports club, which is actually a huge bonus for anyone that is actually serious about staying fit during travel, because the equipment there is far better than any hotel gym will have. Anybody that complains about a lack of weight room is too lazy to go to the sports club (a 5~10min walk) and probably isn't a serious athlete anyway, so their opinion isn't valid. They're just complainers. 3. The walls are a bit on the thin side, so noise can be an issue if you happen to have bad neighbors. They could make the door shut a bit quieter to help alleviate the issues without a major overhaul. If I have any 2+days business trips back to DC, this is definitely going to stay at the top of my list.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel in the heart of Georgetown. Great service! Check in on yelp to receive free valet parking for a day. Will stay again. Offering complementary breakfast would be five stars.

Leila R.

Yelp
I reviewed this ages ago. Same shit, new FF+E. And not good furniture. Room service and restaurant close at 9. Group of regulars in there drinking away, but won't serve guests... No one answers phone. Bathroom looks like my college swim team showers. Homeless people using lobby lounge, bathrooms. If I am paying $500+ a night room service after 9 would be nice. Or be less of a Jerk about it and clearly advertise it online.

Yelp
Stayed for one night and my only regret was that I didn't stay longer. From the valet to the maid service I received top notch customer service. I am a frequent visitor to the area and intend to stay here more often

Yelp
Clean and quiet. Checkin isn't until 4pm so it can be late for some people. The location is very convenient and accessible. The restaurant could provide better food for the cost, I wasn't impressed by breakfast here.

Yelp
This was my second stay at the Georgetown Inn and it was for seven nights. I understand that the property recently sold and I'm not sure if it's a new management issue, but the customer service has greatly declined since my last visit. At check-in, we were delighted to find two complimentary bottles of water. After our third day walking all over the city, we returned to our room only to realize we had forgotten to buy bottled water. That evening, a call was made to the front desk and it was taken by a young man. I requested two bottles of water and explained that we would be happy to pay for them. His only response was, "You got two bottles on your first night." When the request was repeated, he said he couldn't help us. One morning, we ordered a cab for a specific time. We arrived in the lobby approximately five to ten minutes prior to the requested time. After waiting for ten minutes, I asked the woman at the front desk if she ordered the cab for us. Her response was, "Oh! Someone else must have taken it!" No offer was made to call another cab. Instead, we went outside and helped the doorman flag one down. I understand they are in the process of updating the rooms and it needs it. Our room was satisfactory, but tired looking. When I sat on the sofa, I could feed the hide-a-bed frame unless I sat in the middle of the two cushions. The wall paper was starting to pull away from wall and there were problems with the bathroom sink not draining. The Daily Grill and room service were both an adventure! See my review on the Daily Grill. We chose not to let any of the above spoil our trip, but I doubt that either of us will be staying there in the future.

Yelp
The hotel is glorious the rooms are beautiful and it's right in the heart of Georgetown, DE. One of the nicer places we've stayed at through booking.com. However the only things that kept it from being a 5 star is our room in no way had a fridge. I've personally never stayed in a hotel where you didn't have a fridge in the room. Also there were a few extras i didn't read about on booking. YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR VALET PARKING. Unless you want to hit meter parking entire stay. Benefit is you can come and go however many times you please (don't really need to, you can walk literally everywhere). Also a added fee kind of like a security deposit forgot what they called it. So instead of $368 after all of that plus tax it was about $486. Kind of steep if you don't expect the extra $65 bucks on a tight budget. Other than that we absolutely loved the place.

Yelp
Super centrally located in Georgetown and 10 minutes walk from Georgetown University. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet and very nice overall. Staff super professional and helpful. After many hits and misses on our trip this is a Great place to stay!

Yelp
This should be a four-star place. The location is good, the rooms are spacious, the staff is friendly and attentive, and best yet, each bed comes with several pillows of varying thickness, so you don't end up with the classic hotel stiff neck from super-thin or rock-hard pillows. But... no. I'll list my complaints in decreasing order of severity. First: this is a couple-hundred-dollars-per-night, and they charge for wireless internet? That's utter crap. If Motel 6 and Super 8 have found a way to have free wireless, i cannot believe that a nicer place like Georgetown Inn really has to nickel and dime their guests like this. That alone knocked the first two stars off. Second: Housekeeping entered our room and cleaned it despite the Do Not Disturb tag. I hate having my room cleaned for me, i hate having my towels moved so i can't tell which washcloth i used on my face and which on my feet. I don't need strangers to make my bed or fluff my pillows. I can go three days with the same towels, and it's not like i track in enough dirt that i need the carpet vacuumed. That's why i leave the 'Do Not Disturb' tag up. I'm pretty sure they're not illiterate. Perhaps they meant well. But i left the damn tag up on purpose, and they ignored in on purpose (they can't have just not noticed it, since they carefully moved it to the inside of the doorknob after ignoring it). Third: So most people probably think i'm weird for listing this after the other two, but here goes: the first night we were there, we were woken up at 3am by a rodent eating through the paper wrapping of some cookies in my laptop bag. We scared it away, threw out the bag of cookies, moved all other belongings from the floor to on top of various furniture, and went back to bed. In the morning, we told the front desk staff, and they promptly moved us to a new (nicer) room at no additional charge, comped us breakfast, apologized profusely, etc. So one the one hand, super-gross that they have an unchecked rodent problem, but on the other, i live in Manhattan, i expect everyone to have a rodent problem. At least they handled it well. There are other minor complaints, like that housekeeping starts vacuuming vacated rooms at 9am on Saturday, and the walls are thin enough that it will easily wake a light sleeper. But really, for $200+/night, you can probably find a place without rodents and disobedient housekeeping, and maybe even one with free internet.

Yelp
With the mixed reviews here, I wasn't sure what to expect so imagine my surprise when Rob and I stayed here over New Year's and found the inn to be exactly what we were looking for. Quaint and charming in a great location. It was very reasonably priced without skipping on anything. The mattress was comfortable. Bedding was pristinely clean. I'd mentioned wanting a nice view and our window gave us a nice view of one of the smaller streets of Wisconsin Ave, The staff was friendly and efficient. The Daily Grill attached to the inn was great for grabbing a drink after an afternoon walk. The bathroom was small but well put together with red accents making it very elegant. All in all, I'd stay here again in two seconds.

Yelp
Great location and great, clean hotel that took COVID seriously (including staff). Lobby is small and don't believe there was a pool, but to be expected in Georgetown area generally. Overall - a solid hotel which would have been more expensive but for COVID. They were accommodating of early check in which was appreciated. If you want a fridge in your room, just ask.

Before I stayed at this hotel (for business travel- not my choice) I was a bit worried it would be a horrid experience because of the negative reviews. I asked my boss about it, and he told me it was decent, and so I shrugged off the bad reviews. When I arrived I was relieved to find out my room was well-put together, clean, and cool (I visited this past July). For the week I was there that's how the room remained: I had absolutely no problems with the air conditioner, my room was always supremely cleaned when I got back in at night, the staff was friendly and helpful, room service was prompt, and I slept comfortably in a quiet atmosphere (which was extremely important for me as I had traveled from Los Angeles and it was difficult to fall asleep at night). My colleague, however, who also stayed there that week, had an entirely different experience. She told me her room was dirty, and that she actually stepped on an earring! Ugh! I never got to see her room, but I do trust her opinion. I'm not sure why her experience her room was so worse than mine. I could chalk it up to a difference in perception, but her description truly horrified, and I imagine I would have been as grossed out as her. Still, I can only rate based on MY experience and what I saw, and so I have to give the Georgetown Inn a good rating.

Yelp
Although this place sweats charm, it is also lacking in new world standards. Upon checking in I was greeted by friendly staff, but once I got to my room I realized that there were 2 outlets in the entire room. They had an "Engineer" come up and install a outlet box for me. After dinner across the street, I was getting ready for bed. As a true NewYorker, I was talking and apparently our walls are quite thin. I got a rather rude phone call from downstairs asking if everything was ALRIGHT and if I was intentionally disturbing the floor. Dumbfounded I proceeded to explain to the night man that as I was explaining Pavlov's Hierarchy of Needs at 1130 pm in avid detail didn't require a disturbance call, and if anything he might have been enlightened by the intellectual conversation. Before bed I had placed the breakfast card on my door, and checked off the box for 630am. I had to leave at 7am for a flight. 635am, no breakfast, 640 no breakfast. I called room service and they open at 630 so they weren't prepared yet. Why do you have a 630am box? They brought my breakfast up which was completely wrong at 655 am and the room service lady hung up on me, after staying forget it we won't charge. I go downstairs to check out and I have been charged. Now I am fuming, and late. After hemming and hawing, they removed the charge and I was on my way. Is it quaint like a bed and breakfast yes. Does it need updating, yes. Does The Georgetown Inn require an attitude adjustment. I'd say YES.

Yelp
What a wonderful stay. The staff was friendly, helpful and didn't miss a beat when it came to my comfort. Beautiful hotel. Lovely rooms. Well kept and clean. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and courteous about in towners and out of towners. Really sweat location of DC and the Daily Grill is right next door. Really fond of the employees here and very nicely structured.

Yelp
Nice spacious room with very comfortable beds. The Daily Grill is the associated restaurant. Rude staff and slow service - skip it. There are tons of restaurants outside the hotel. The "business center" is only useful if you plan on printing your boarding pass. It is too small and expensive to use as a longer term work area. The "fitness center" is apparently here only to allow the hotel to claim they have one. It has two treadmills and a reclining bike. The front desk is incapable of validating the room key card for more than 24 hours at a time, so get used to constantly asking them to update the card.

Yelp
I stayed at the Georgetown Inn for 3 nights. The hotel itself is great, what a wonderful location. HOWEVER - the bar/restaurant is in need of a serious management change. Very slow service. Additionally we had a bad experience with a bartender named DENNIS. He was extremely rude, had poor manners, and was arrogant. This was to the point that my group wanted to get up and walk out, I've never had a bartender behave like this before. I would go back to the hotel, but certainly not to the bar or restaurant.

Yelp
Perfect location! Just outside the hotel is shopping, famous pubs and restaurants, near the waterfront and just $15 taxi ride to the national park. The rooms were well-maintained, spacious and clean. My only complaint is the A/C unit was located in the window...which I was told they are in the process of remodeling and central air will be available. Finally the staff were extremely friendly! Will definitely stay here again!

Yelp
I am not sure why the reviews on here aren't better. We checked in for a quick staycation and had a very positive experience. The hotel is old, but the room was spacious clean and with up to date furniture and fixtures. We did go with the executive king to ensure a bit more room. The check in process was easy and efficient and valet staff were helpful. Room service was quick and good quality. Bathroom was small and missing a bathmat but otherwise fine. I'd recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area.

Yelp
The location is great and the room was pretty nice. I felt that it was a little dated and wasn't a fan of not being able to control the air conditioning. It was nice for the price though and we enjoyed staying right in the heart of things in Georgetown. The staff was friendly and we thought that everything was appropriate for a historic hotel in the heart of Georgetown.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is totally fabulous. The Inn is historic, but up to date enough for a comfy stay. Beds are modern and the rooms slightly dated but not bad. Breakfast in the restaurant is pricey, so watch that. Overall, My family loved it!

Yelp
This hotel is an awesome location, it's old fashioned and rooms are nice and large. Service is also great. Only complaint is the walls are paper thin you can easily hear the room next door.

Yelp
My worse hotel stay in the US. My friend stayed here twice - first time he said it was adequate no frills; second time he said it was terrible. I should have listened but discounted his second experience, mainly because I left booking a hotel late and all other hotels were fully booked. My experience at Georgetown Inn was terrible. I love Georgetown and lived there for many years and was looking forward to being in the heart of the district. Unfortunately my room and experience of the service was terrible. The worse part was discovering a large insect in the bathroom in the early hours of the morning. I tried to get rid of it but it was fast. Needless to say I didn't sleep much after that. Worse, when I told the general manager, his response was as inadequate as the room. Further disappointments: very slow breakfast service with a sullen demeanor. My room rate which was ridiculously high ($369!!) included a continental breakfast. I didn't get served for over 35 minutes and couldn't finish even drinking the orange juice as I had to leave to catch a plane. When I complained that this was unfulfilled, I was told that many staff did not make it in due to the weather (some rain?) and they still charged me and refused to reimburse me! Also, minor but frustrating point: the door handle did not work properly - very stiff and needed to be pulled only in a certain way to open which took 2 or 3 attempts each time. The furniture is dated and old (probably home to the insects). Not pleasant, not worth the money and I highly recommend staying elsewhere.

Yelp
It is hard to find hotels for less than $500 a night in this area. But do your best not to stay at the Georgetown Inn. Valets are complete asses. Rooms are old. Mattress is saggy and crap. TV doesn't work. Not a decent hotel at all.

Yelp
I stayed there this summer (July) because my daughter was getting married at Halcyon House (within walking distance). Very convenient location. Unfortunately that's about the only nice thing I can say about it. When we arrived it was really hot and the room smelled musty. There was a sign in the room about not using the air-conditioning. We turned on the fan which was really loud. We tried to open the window and couldn't so we finally got the front desk to send s/o to open it. We spent several nights sleeping with a loud fan and street noise. The next morning at about 6:30 or 7 am the fire alarm went off. We dashed down the stairs. When we got downstairs it turned out it wasn't even a fire drill. It had gone off by accident from what we were told- something about a problem in the kitchen. The elevator didn't work so we climbed the stairs all the way back up- we were on a high floor. To add insult to injury, when I got home I realized I had left my keys and a small cord for my camera in the bedside drawer. I called and asked the hotel to send them to me. They waited over a week and after the whole week had gone by sent the package by next day FedEx (great judgment!). After three months had gone by I finally got a charge for over $80 on my credit card. I was quite shocked and asked for a copy of the FedEx invoice It was based on a dimensional weight of over 5 lbs. The actual weight of the package was listed as about 2 pounds. Go figure. In any event I wouldn't stay there again or recommend it it anyone. It is embarrassing enough that I suggested it to my family and several other members of the wedding party. Those who were close enough to me to tell me the truth of what they thought echoed my one star rating.

Yelp
After reading a lot of reviews about this hotel, I thought I'd just take my chance since I got a good deal with free parking through my amex card. I have mixed reviews about my stay in this hotel. The location is as perfect as it can be - right on Wisconsin Avenue where all the restaurants and trendy stores are located. The major M Street is only a block away and Washington Harbor is in a walking distance from the hotel. There's a metro stop/circulatory right in front of the hotel which takes you to Union Station via M Street, downtown, china town, Smithsonian Museums and the Mall so I'd strongly suggest you to take that mode of transportation ($1 per ride or $3 for a day pass) rather than a taxi or your car - Saves a lot of money and time. Despite it's ideal location, the hotel is pretty old and needs a overall "MAKEOVER". The bathrooms as well as the room itself needs a lot of updating. I could see molds on the corners of our room ceiling and our bed post was broken and childishly repaired. The TV's are one of those old models and none of the channels are clear enough to watch. I would recommend this hotel for it's ideal location and only if you get a good deal.

Yelp
A few weeks ago was my 3rd time staying here. If it wasn't for the location I'd be given this place 1 star. The previous two visit were nice, old style and smaller rooms and bathrooms that went with the charm of an older building. The last stay was vastly different. We stayed on the 2nd floor in a more modernized room. It was extremely odd to say the least. Hardware floors, modern decorations, modern bathroom took away from the charm. One of the bathroom light fixtures was broken and held together with masking tape, pictures were hung oddly on the wall and in the middle of the night I woke to the air conditioning register dripping and leaking water all over the floor. I went to the front desk to inform and they sent their maintenance guy up who opened the register and put in a metal buffet tray to collect the water. Great fix. One of the closet doors would not open because it hit the drooping ceiling. On the plus side - free wifi, newer HDTV, and it was clean. I expect more than this for the rates the Georgetown Inn charges. Sadly, this place is on the decline. All in all, I'll be looking for a better place to stay next time I'm in DC.

Yelp
I was only in my room for 30 minutes because the hotel either does not have any handicapped accessible rooms or did not have one available. My mother in law who was traveling w/us and had a separate room could not navigate her wheelchair to enter the bathroom (doorway to narrow). I informed the staff when I arrived that she was in a wheelchair and they said nothing. When we tried to talk to a manager, they informed that he had gone home and nobody was in charge. Nobody tried to assist us in any way. These rooms were prepaid because of a major school graduation, so not only could we not stay there, but were forced to another hotel at a very high rate. The staff could not have been more indifferent, save for the doorman/valet who were appalled at the situation. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Yelp
Perfect location if you need to be in Georgetown. Our room had a recently renovated bathroom, but the bedroom was a bit of a mess: the beds were not comfortable, the sofa needed to be replaced, and at least one lampshade had a huge hole in it. The room was reasonably clean. Don't bother with room service, and don't even think of putting out the door hanger to order breakfast: they didn't even pick ours up. That was when I tried to call room service. Who didn't answer the phone. Service was hit and miss. Housekeeping was pleasant and helpful. Some of the desk staff was quite nice, others completely indifferent. Someone decided to have a party in a room near ours at 3 am, and two calls to the front desk did not solve the problem. Then there was the air conditioning unit...which randomly spewed forth hot air or cold air as the mood took it. There was no corelation to the reading on the thermostat. Great location but way too expensive for the Motel 6 experience.

Yelp
I loved this place! It was so old and wonderful! It was right next to a bus stop, and walking distance from tons of great things in Georgetown. The service was very good, and the people were so nice! I really loved staying here! I'm definitely going back! The only downside they had was housekeeping stole all of my mom's prescription medicines for her terminal cancer. She was fine, we just had to get more when we got home, no major setbacks. My mom is gone now, she died in January, but I know she really enjoyed that last trip we took together. This hotel was my idea, she wanted me to find a hotel on my own for the first time. I think she was really happy with it. I could've lived without having to call in new prescriptions, and people shouldn't take those kinds of things from people that are sick, it's wrong. If it weren't for losing those important medicines, I'd give this place 5 stars.

Yelp
Before I booked a reservation here, I thoroughly read about all the pros and cons of the Georgetown Inn and, to my eternal shame, I stayed here anyway. What a mistake. Yes, it's nice to be able to stay at a place in central Georgetown that's close to the University. Yes, it's nice to stay at a place that has the Daily Grill downstairs just off the lobby so that food and beverages are taken care of. But no, it's not nice to stay at a place that has obviously skimped on so many basic improvements over the years that guests like me are offended by staying here. This is an independent hotel that has coasted on its reputation and routinely agonizes and antagonizes its guests because of its lack of basic amenities. The Georgetown Inn looks great from the outside, but is falling apart internally. I booked five nights here as part of Georgetown University's "Parents Weekend." Not only does the Georgetown Inn not have a Georgetown University rate, but it jacks up the prices of its rooms by at least $100/night during events like this. I was robbed. I had an inclination that things would not go well here when, on the morning of my late-night check in after a cross-country flight, I called the front desk to reconfirm my reservations for an Executive King room in a quiet part of the hotel and to request additional clothes hangers be supplied in the closets before our arrival. The hapless front desk clerk told me that she was unable to provide extra clothes hangers to an "empty room" prior to arrival but that this could be addressed when we checked in. When I pointed out that we would be arriving close to midnight, i.e. when housekeeping services were not available, I was assured that this would not be a problem. What a joke! When we arrived, things started to unravel immediately. The "Executive King" room I had booked was room # 501. The bed was smaller than a queen. It was tiny and uncomfortable. The room was broiling hot and the air conditioning/heating HVAC was ineffective. The more we tried to cool the room down by turning the controller to "cool" and "high" the more the unit rattled, at times uncontrollably loud. Sleep was not possible that night. Despite my advance request, there were no additional clothes hangers in the room. We called down to the front desk. Unfortunately, the phone in our room #501 was labeled #502 and when the front desk called back, we couldn't hear them and they couldn't hear us. I went out into the hallway, found the housekeeping room next door unlocked and took lots of clothes hangers from there into our room. (I'm sorry, Georgetown Inn: do not say it's not possible to handle this simple request in advance.) So upon check in, our room was miserably hot, the air conditioning didn't work, and the windows which are clearly marked "Do Not Open" are impossible to open. We sweated through an uncomfortable night without sleep. The next morning, we switched rooms to #407. Thank god, it was a real King Bed as advertised. But the air conditioning/heating system still didn't work and continued to pump out hot and stuffy air. We complained to the front desk. Maintenance "fixed" the problem by turning off the heating/system and opening the windows to let some fresh air in. Very, very lame. (Oh, by the way, the windows in this hotel are like guillotines. Impossible to open, but it you attempt to slide them apart, be very, very careful or you risk losing fingers. ) It was still a better room, but anything facing the front of the hotel and Wisconsin Avenue is going to get blasted by street noise. The "Five Guys" hamburger restaurant directly across the street blasted loud music until 1AM, buses started running at 5:30AM and construction started directly across the street at 6AM. Unbelievable. Remember my incorrectly-labeled phone from my previous room? This room's phone....the phone for room #407, was labeled 502. Not only is this inexcusable, it's a safety hazard. Then there was the issue of our room door in #407. It didn't work. It often took twenty or thirty swipes of our key card to unlock the door each and every time we tried. (Security said this was caused by my placing our room key card in my wallet next to our credit cards!) but this happened repeatedly with newly-issued room key cards supplied by the front desk. At one point, the door lock stopped working entirely, and wouldn't lock at all as we tried to leave the room. We called down to the front desk on our cellphones because of the inability of the room phone to work properly and security once again told us it was our fault. Very lame. Overall, the rooms are oddly shaped. The bathrooms are tiny and just plain weird. The toilet is extremely low. Maintenance has not put a high priority on the bathrooms. The staff (mostly) tries hard and means well. But they are in over their heads. They can't possibly help guests enjoy their stay when the deck is stacked against them like this. It would take an act of god to get me to stay here again.

Yelp
I would avoid this hotel the management is rude and disrespectful to their guest. I travel frequently and have never been treated so disrespectfully at any hotel in all my travels. The price may be luring but believe me the savings is not worth the aggravation. The rooms are old and outdated and carpet is dirty and smelling. If you have allergies it will only make them worse as they did mine.
