Absolute hidden gem at the heart of Kolkata. I had booked through World of Hyatt while looking for a place close to the US Consulate. The place was such a refreshing change from your typical hotels. Great rooms with fascinating decor, amazing views of the Victoria memorial, and top-notch dining experience. Too bad it was a one night stay. Looking to visit again! Kudos to the team managing this property!

The Glenburn Penthouse was our anchor during a three-day stay in Kolkata. As other reviewers have pointed out, the interior decor is palatial and tasteful, despite the location on the top floors of a modern glass office building. You are a walkable distance from the most interesting sites worth seeing: Victoria Memorial, St. Paul's Cathedral, New Market, Dalhousie Square, and more. Just steps from the hotel are stores selling antique furniture, locally made handicrafts and clothing, the excellent Oxford Bookshop, and Mocambo restaurant - plus not-on-the-tourist-route side streets that boast magnificent temples, art deco apartment buildings, and other architectural treasures. ||The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable, and exude as much old world charm as any historic hotel we've ever stayed in. The staff is calm, friendly, and helpful. Someone was always on hand to recommend places to visit, get our laundry done, help us make sense of the food, or arrange a tour. (In fact, our city tour guide, Shahah, far exceeded expectations with her well-planned itinerary, insider's knowledge, and excellent English.) We really felt at home and welcomed so warmly. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat and can't recommend it highly enough.

This is a rather surprising, hidden gem located on the top 2 floors of a commercial building in central Kolkata, but with beautiful views to the Victoria Memorial from the Bengal Suites and indeed from the terrace or infinity pool.||It's small - 9 rooms, so the customer service is both personal and faultless.||Breakfasts are prepared freshly and are exceptional. ||Afternoon tea - included in the rate I believe - is so tasty.||Dinners are good.||The public rooms...lounge and restaurant are interestingly decorated - the whole effect is quite opulent. ||The rooms are fabulous. Large, exceptionally comfortable beds. Effective aircon. Large bathrooms. Nicely decorated. Mini bar which is a nice touch.||Very close (easy walk) to Victoria Memorial, St Paul's Cathedral, New Market, Maidens etc.||All in all we were very pleased to have chosen Glenburn over a larger hotel. This hotel really did tick so many boxes for quality and experience.

You wonder where and what on earth you're coming to as the car drives slowly up and alleyway off the busy street before stopping outside a highish-rise office block. But you soon find out. Stepping out of the lift on the 8th floor, you enter a stunningly elegant oasis - colonial meets colour meets a touch of opulent decadence. A luxurious retreat in the beating heart of Kolkata. Everything's to like - staff who cater for your every need, great food (huge diverse menu), an extensive tea menu with teas from their estate), delicious cocktails including a must-try G & Tea.... The list could go on!||We're sorry to leave.||Special praise to Sapphira, Santu, Nitesh, Abul, Faizal & Samchita.

This hotel has everything I like when it comes to hotels, namely surprises. The location is a surprise , entering the lobby from the elevator is a surprise, the staff is a surprise, the size and conditions of the rooms are lovely and a surprise. Having stayed or have had guests stay at Taj Bengal and Oberoi Grand, Glenburn is without a doubt the city’s top choice. Every staff member goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. No request is too large or small. They also plan the most interesting and exquisite sightseeing and excursions. If I had a choice to only stay in luxury, boutique hotels like Glenburn I would do so every time. Their tea estate is even more magical.

Staying at the Glenburn Penthouse was an absolute delight! This isn't just a hotel; it's an experience that truly allows you to enjoy Kolkata's rich heritage. From the elegant decor to the serene ambiance, every detail whispers tales of a Kolkata and its heritage. And what could be more perfect than savouring authentic Darjeeling tea overlooking the city? It was a ritual I looked forward to every day. The infinity pool offers a breathtaking escape – a truly unique spot to cool off while taking in panoramic views of the city. What truly set Glenburn apart was the fantastic, customizable service. The staff went above and beyond to cater to every need, making us feel incredibly pampered and ensuring a truly memorable stay. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a luxurious and authentic Kolkata experience!

The contrast couldn’t be bigger: the penthouse is located in an office tower in centraal Kolkata and to be honest the building is not attractive at all. Once the doors of the elevator open, however, you are in a completely different world: Old World charme! The room we had was spacious, had a bacony and shutters, a comfortable bed and a huge bathroom. On the 8th floor, the dining hall/drawing room had a spectacular wall covering and next to the drawing room is a nice terrace overlooking a.o. the Victoria Memorial. On the top floor a pool (‘infinity’ on two sides), with the same view. Unfortunately, there was not really a possibility to sit comfortably in the shade there, but the staff told us they were working at it. The staff was attentive without being pushy. All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay and higly recommend this hotel. Ther are a few issues that we wanted to point out. We did have an issue with the airconditioning in our room: in the beginning we had some trouble operating it and it was rather loud. In all fairness: the hotel did offer to put is in another room (which we declined since we liked the room too much. The breakfast was all in all quite good, but we would suggest (from a westerners point of view) to dispense with the ‘croissants’, that were absolutely horible. The toast was fine, but it would have been nice if they had offered us the local toast, which is quite could. We missed the possibility for a light lunch. They offered to provide us with sandwiches, but there was no way of knowing what we would have gotten. Also, they have a nice Glenburn Cafe on the ground floor, so wouldn’t it have been possible to provide guests with the option to order from there and have it served in the drawing room?
