The Gluten Free Shoppe

Great experience all around: reasonable shipping and fresh, delicious product. This is the only place I can find Udi's double chocolate muffins recently, so I ordered three packages over a weekend. I received an order confirmation immediately. I didn't received a ship confirmation, but the week after I placed the order the muffins arrived on my porch, slightly chilled and fresher than any I've bought from the supermarket.

I purchased 3 Baums gluten free challahs. Two of the challahs had green & white mold growing on the loaves. When I spoke with customer service they were rude and they told me that the mold pwas not possible. I am not going to ever purchase anything from this company again.

It's a good store for gluten-free shops. The products are of outstanding quality. The store is where I usually place my orders. prompt delivery of high-quality goods.

This was my first order from The Gluten Free Shoppe. I was very much looking forward to the products especially the gluten free pastry sheet. I was very disappointed to receive the box with all contents inside warm. The "frozen" pastry was warm to the touch and the tiny little bags that were supposed to be frozen were also warm. There was no foam insulation or any packing in the box whatsoever. Since I work from home, I was able to bring the box inside and open it as soon as it was delivered. So there is NO reason for the products arriving in this condition. Furthermore, the boxes of pastry were damaged and corners torn off due to zero packaging on the inside. This is completely unacceptable. I should have read the reviews before ordering but I won't be a repeat customer.

I placed an order with them, paid for it, and have yet to receive it or any information regarding it. I have contacted them twice, but they have not replied. I wanted a delivery estimate originally, yet now I just want a refund. Update: order arrived 6 weeks later. No responses to my emails at all.

I placed an order for some gluten free pretzels on July 13. Its been 8 days with no shipping confirmation. So, I tried emailing and got no response. I tried calling. Again, no response. Definitely would not recommend.

Don’t bother with this place. Especially with shipping. No proactive communication with issues on products and when I reached out after OVER A MONTH of waiting I was reprimanded for filing a complaint. Waste of time.

Avoid this business. I ordered some of their gluten free french fried onions and paid for two day shipping. They didn't bother to ship them until after the weekend even though I had ordered them before the weekend. So they will not be arriving by Thanksgiving for my wife's dish. After contacting them, they admitted their website was likely to blame for the inaccurate shipping time. No offer to reimburse for shipping or correct their mistake in any way. 1 star because they responded, at least.

The website says orders will be shipped 24-48 hours after they are placed. I placed an order on May 23. When the order did not ship, on May 25 I emailed the company, asking when my order would ship. I got no response. I sent a follow up email a few days later, May 30. Again there was no response. I sent a third email on May 31, telling the business to cancel my order. Today, June 14, I received notification that my canceled order was out for delivery. Shortly thereafter I received notice that it has been delivered. They're selling the same gluten-free merchandise I can order from other, more responsive businesses. I will not buy from them again.

What a nightmare, wish I would have read the google and Yelp reviews before ordering. I placed an order well over $100 at the end of March, couldn't figure out why after a many weeks I hadn't received a shipping confirmation so I called...the man was short, rude and told me it would ship once they got some items that week and that he would call me. Never got a call and didn't receive the shipment after two more weeks so I called again, same lie and story. I figured they were backed up with the pandemic so was trying to be gracious, even gave my credit card info again because it had been past 30 days at this point. Another month and a half later NOTHING still...finally called and just said 'please cancel my order' to which he said 'it's cancelled' and then HUNG UP on me. Will never order from this place again or any place I don't check reviews first. If you can't keep up with online ordering, DON'T OFFER IT and stick to in shop sales! Now I have to watch my account like a hawk and make sure it doesn't get charged like everyone else experienced.

I wish I could give this store a 0-star rating. To be absolutely fair, we are living through VERY strange times right now, and customer service and retail industries are doing the best they can. So some delays are to be expected. I absolutely understand that. What I don't understand is that I placed my order in March. On April 9th, I called the company to find out if my order was processing - they'd taken my money but hadn't updated me. A very rude gentleman told me on the phone that they were waiting on one frozen item to come in, but in the meantime, he'd ship the gluten free bread I'd paid for. Alas - that did not happen. When I went to contact them, they were on break for Passover for 11 days. NO communication. Finally, on April 20th, I spoke to the same rude gentleman again who told me my order was going to ship the next day. It did not. In fact, I just received my order - again, placed in March - on May 1st. It was missing a box of donuts (the frozen good they were supposedly waiting on), and the other frozen box of donuts? Expired by 5 MONTHS. I sent them photos and asked for a refund, but no one has replied. They never do. Do not order from or trust this company. The people are rude, the time it takes to ship is ridiculous, and you'll get expired food without a refund in exchange. I've had to file a complaint with my bank because of this. If you want good gluten free food, go directly to Katz's website. But I wouldn't trust this company at all. They'll take your money, waste 5-6 weeks of your time, and then send you expired products - if your full order comes at all.

This company is the worst. Ordered two months ago, never received any communication, emailed to find out what's up with the order, never received a reply. Maybe if you walk into the store you can purchase things, but if you order for a delivery, you're wasting your time and money.

Horrible business. Ordered online and no communication at all. Does not reply to emails, phone number no one picks up and voicemail is full. Granted, this is a bad time we are going through, but there is no customer service at all. Do not order from them.

I have never had such a horrible experience with a company in my life. I have honestly had better times with debts collectors. I am telling you all this bc I didn't look at reviews for the company before I mad my purchase and I truly regret it bc my story is apparently not unique. I made an order from them on June 22nd for about $62. It was supposed to be shipped UPS Ground which takes on average about 1-5 days. i was leaving town 8 days later for about six weeks for a job, which is why I ordered the food. On June 25th it still had not shipped so I emailed the company informing them I may need to cancel if they do not intend to ship asap. On June 29th I emailed them again as it still had not shipped but the money had drafted out. I told them I definitely had to cancel at this point. I finally called them and they informed me that they could change the address for me and ship it to my hotel. I said if they could do that then I would keep my order. On July 6th they shipped my order. To the WRONG ADDRESS. I called them immediately and informed them of this mistake. I have an account set up with USPS so I can see everything that is coming to me and the estimated arrival date, that is hoe I know it was being sent to the wrong address. They acted like they would try to fix the situation. On July 9th the products were delivered. In a regular box with no insulation or freezer packs and a label stating to freeze the products immediately. It was 90 degrees in my hometown that day. I had to have a friend drive from ANOTHER town and pick up the items that had been sitting in the hot sun all day. Many of the products were supposed to be frozen and many of them were basically nothing but crumbs. I emailed the company again on the 10th of July explaining what happened and they did not respond to me. I had to keep calling them. They were rude as heck everytime I called and kept telling me they were looking into it. They also told me that they always ship their frozen items this way. It took months to get this fixed. I called them seven times in July and 8 times in August. Each time they promised to be looking into it. When I mentioned that this was common based on their reviews they told me those people were all liars and that they had no understanding of the COVID situation even though the reviews discussing this pattern date back several years. By August they began telling me they would refund me by the end of the week. Then the next week came and no refund and so on until yesterday they said end of day. Still nothing. I finally called them today and they didn't answer the phone and then suddenly I get notification of a refund, except it is not a full refund. They kept the $14 worth of shipping and didn't refund me that portion. I emailed them, livid and telling them they had multiple chances to keep a customer but this was the absolute last straw and now not only am I never going to shop there but I will warn everyone. They have been blowing up my phone with calls the entire time I typed this. There are reviews of people who haven't received $100+ orders. Be super careful. It is hard enough to find quality products for our diets and we can't afford to spend this kind of time trying to fix things. Many reviewers I read never received refunds. I only got mine because I kept up with it.

I ordered several boxes of pasta from The Gluten Free Shoppe because of the ingredients in the advertisement. What I received was pasta made from other ingredients which I am not able to eat. I called the business and the owner said he would reimburse me for the product but not for the shipping charges. I argued that I should not have to pay shipping again, considering it was his responsibility to provide what is advertised, but he was adamant. That was lame. So I returned the product, but never received my reimburesement. This man is not professional and I suggest you NOT purchase anything from this shop!

Do not order from this company you will never receive your things ! I ordered from these guys online a month and a half ago and have yet to receive my products. I've called several times I was told they would look it up and get back to me and they never did. I've emailed and gotten no response. I've asked for my money back and haven't received any response. When I check my order online it still shows pending it's been a month-and-a-half I should have my noodles by now

Living in NYC, I was relieved to find a place online that would deliver foods for the pantry, so I could remain indoors and fed during a pandemic. I placed my order on April 13, fully ready to wait until the following week for delivery as the website stated. As I write this on May 13, I still have not received anything. Not even an email - though I've attempted to reach out via phone and email. If orders cannot be fulfilled please let people know.

$14 to ship 9 lb of flour = RIP OFF. Free shipping only for orders over $100 - and vendor takes no responsibility for spoiled food, or thawed frozen food, all sales final. They probably ship it by snail. Don't waste your money.

BUYER BEWARE! This business will take your money and not provide what you ordered. I've been trying to resolve an order I placed in January, with no success, after multiple attempts by me and subsequent promises from the male who answers the phone. I hope to see the refund I requested, but probably won't at this point. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, still no response from the business. Surprise, surprise, the BBB has given them an F rating. Apparently this has happened before, and the Gluten Free Shoppe chooses to ignore complaints. I'm not sure how they're still in business. Again, buyer beware!!!

Customer service is always important, but when the world is upside down, and we are all anxious and stressed, you would think food retailers would be respectful to their customers. I placed an order a month ago. It has not shipped. I have not heard one word from the company. I'm sure they are busy, like every other food store, but please....spending one minute communicating with your customers about their orders is really important. We will all remember who treated us well when COVID 19 is conquered.

Do not order from them, they will ship only half your order but charge you for all of it. Then you can never get anyone at customer service. They are thieves!

I wish I could give this store zero stars. I placed an order for some gluten/dairy free donuts on May 13th. Prior to that, I contacted this shop regarding the best shipping method. I was told by an employee to choose 2 day shipping (which was over $20), which I did. On May 15th, they contacted to me to tell me one of the products was out of stock. I told them to cancel that part of the order, do a partial refund, and send the rest ASAP. They assured me they would. Fast forward to May 22nd. I still haven't received anything. I called them, left a message, and also sent an e-mail. I got a shipping notice that afternoon, but with no tracking info. It's now May 26th...and I've received nothing. The donuts only stay good for 2 days without freezing, so anything I receive now is going to be spoiled. It's 4 days after everything was supposedly shipped, and FIFTEEN days after the order was placed. I've never seen such an unprofessional, unorganized, inept business in my life. Planning to report this to the BBB. I plan to refuse the package when/if it finally arrives. I'm not feeding any family members spoiled food. Avoid this place like the plague.

Buyer beware. Horrendous customer service. Order from February never received. Now it's June. Have sent three requests for refund to customer service. All ignored. Interrupted work day to try to get someone on the phone to get my money back and employee immediately interrupted me shouting "Order number? Order number?" followed by "Who are you?!" What the f*ck is that? Unacceptable.

Dreadful customer service. Over a month after placing my order... No response to emails or calls. Facebook is full of negative posts that I wish I had seen before I ordered.

I placed an order with them on December 3rd for 6 boxes of Betty Crocker Gluten Free Yellow Cake mix. I have heard nothing from them, not even a reply to my email on December 8. Now it's the 14th and Bizrate wanted a review of my purchase? I pretty much said, "what products, still waiting for a shipment date?" If I ever get the mixes, I won't order from them again.

I wouldn't give them a start if I could. I placed an order back in May. I have had a difficult time reaching them. I was totally understanding of the situation with the pandemic, but then I still never heard anything from the. I followed up again today because my order said "processing". The gentleman I spoke with was rude, cut-me-off when I tried to ask a question, and in my opinion is terrible with good customer service. BFree had recommended them, and if I was BFree I would take them off the list. I can see that others have also filed the same review where their orders were not received. Their ordering system has a lot to be desired. They need to update it so it says your order has been cancelled and to state the reason why so people are not left wondering what happened. :-(

Intentionally sold me something that I did not want by misrepresenting what it was (I was looking for something that became virtually impossible to find in the US, that he used to carry as well that he told me he had), then took his sweet time providing me with a refund of the purchase price after several phone calls over several weeks, and of course he had to subtract shipping from the refund because, well, that's the kind of business person he is.

Don't order from here!!! I placed an order on 3/23/20 and wish I would have read the reviews first. I sent two emails asking for a shipping date for my items. Neither email was responded to. I went to their website today to call them and see they are closed for Passover until 4/20!!! Passover started 4/8, I sent emails on 3/30 and 4/3. Plenty of time for them to respond and ship my items. Or at least COMMUNICATE as to to the status of my order for my family. This is the first time I've ever made a Yelp review. That's how upset I am with this business and lack of interest in customer service. I have had to find other resources for my family and don't have the luxury of waiting 30 + days for an order to arrive. Any other place that is having a delay in delivery has communicated with me regarding the process. Just don't waste your money here!!! If I don't receive a full refund, we are going to have much bigger issues.

If i could give this place no stars I would. I placed an order a week ago and I had to call to figure out why i didn't get an order shipped email. Of course, they lied and said they called me today to discuss my order but I have no missed calls. When I asked questions of why it was taking so long, they guy on the phone started arguing with me and raising his voice. Horrible customer service to talk to customers like that. First time order from them and will be that last. There are so many gluten free places out there now, do yourself a favor and find another place!!

I love this store! I find that the staff really know the products (and are even willing to let you try something if you're not sure if you'll like it). They have a great variety of products and they are all kosher certified. I try to go to the shop once every two weeks or so to stock up on the non-perishables that I need. Each time I go, I try something new and I'm usually pleased. Parking is rough in Boro Park (or should we call it Double Park) so be prepared to walk a little if you're driving over.

Small store with mostly desserts, cereal, and chips. The owner is pleasant enough, but pretty slow. Like most specialty shops, this one has kinda high prices. Overall, this is the type of store I'd go to if I was in the neighborhood, not one I'd go out of my way for.

I want to like this store, which I shopped at online. And the owner, Steven, has been friendly on the phone. But I bought a box of Kestenbaum gluten-free matzoh from him before Passover. The box says it contains 11 sheets of matzoh. My box contained 5 sheets -- for $28.99 + $13.69 shipping, totaling $42.68. Just imagine -- $42.68 for 5 sheets of matzoh. I've had some difficulty getting the owner to call me back, but we finally spoke by phone today. He said the matzoh is sold by weight, not by the number of sheets and my box must have weighed the requisite one pound. Maybe so. But there's no denying it contained only 5 sheets of matzoh. I asked for a price adjustment and the owner refused. He kept insisting that the box weighed a pound. If a box says on it that it contains 11 sheets of matzoh and it does not, that's fraud. Since he refused a price adjustment which, as owner of the store, he could easily do, I asked him for the phone number of Kestenbaum. He said he didn't know it. I asked for the phone number of the distributor. He said he didn't know, would have to look it up. When I asked how long that would take, he said, "as long as it takes." I would recommend staying away from online shopping at this store. Maybe when you're in the store in person, the manager is more responsive.

My order was not able to be fufilled completely and timely. A refund was requested and I was assured on multiple occasions that I would receive a refund. My order was placed in early May and after numerous calls and emails, I still have not seen the refund and it is the middle/end of August.
