‘The Golden Girls’ Kitchen Opens in Miami, Florida | Eater Miami

"After stops in Beverly Hills, New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago, I found this Wynwood pop-up offers a counter-service, nostalgia-forward experience with an emphasis on desserts; every ticket includes a reserved seat and a 90-minute dining window, a choice of entree, and (of course) cheesecake, with general admission starting at $39. The menu highlights Sophia’s lasagna al forno (available meat or vegan), the Lanai — a “Miami style” Cuban sandwich, Blanche’s Georgia-style cookie, the bacon lettuce potato sandwich, and the indulgent Spierheoven Krispies (a blend of strawberry cheesecake and chocolate ice cream). The space is built for photo-ops — the kitchen table, the Lanai, and the famous banana leaf wallpaper — the bar is decked out in Rusty Anchor Bar gear, and a walk-through Shady Pines leads to a pop-up store full of branded merchandise. The venue also hosts a weekly Sunday drag brunch and Golden Girls After Dark every Saturday (21+ 80s night, tickets include two Golden Girls cocktails). The pop-up runs daily from November 10 to December 31 at 350 NW 24th Street in Wynwood." - Olee Fowler

We were excited to finally have the opportunity to experience The Golden Girl Kitchen. We paid for a table for 2 at $87. This included the entree and cheesecake. We arrived early with ample time to take photos. The best part of this experience was the photo opportunities. We chatted with a manager who showed us pictures from opening day. We were seated inside, although it was still hot but better compared to outdoor seating. We were greeted by our server, and our drink orders were taken. They didn't have any frozen drinks. So we ordered something else. I asked if I could change my pre-ordered cheesecake(as oreo wasn't an option at the time of purchase), but the server went to find out and never came back. The people around us (who arrived at the same) were being served and eating their entree as we continued to chat. We took more photos. At the point when they were being served dessert, I had to flag down our server who less than 2 feet away to ask about our entree. She looked around and spoke to a manager and finally put our order in. There was no follow-up while we waited and everyone else was finishing their meals. The food wasn't hot or spectacular, but it was edible. Finally, we received the cheesecake, nothing like the picture. It was super cold, basically frozen. The server reappears with a bill of $52. $32 worth of drinks, added taxes, and forced gratuity for a person who ignored us. Honestly, the dining experience sucked. The stars are for the concept and photo opportunities, but It's definitely a money grab experience. I wouldn't recommend it.

So my sister and I surprise our mom by taking her to the restaurant and she loved it she’s a huge fan of the Golden Girls so she was happy . So when you first walk in, it’s beautiful. The set up was just right spacious beautiful bright colors, big pics of all the ladies from the show even the inside was beautiful it looked like we were on set of the show. the set up was amazing. The music was just right idk why ppl in the comments were saying music was too loud I felt like it was just right. The service was great our server did an excellent job I forgot her name but she was great, I enjoyed how most of the servers were with the vibes they were singing to the music they looked happy like they were enjoying themselves too, I love that . So the food was alright the lasagna was good , the garlic knots were just a bit hard to chew. My sister said that the Cuban Sandwich & fries were good. We all got the strawberry cheesecake it was delicious!!!. Now we ordered a drink we all got the Dorthy , it wasn’t good it tasted watered down and taste as if more club soda than vodka, the drink looked pretty but didn’t taste great so I ask for sprite to add some flavor. And the drinks were over priced. And there was an extra service charge fee of $10 per person it is what it is we paid it . I would say it’s a 1 time experience type of restaurant I don’t think it’s something to continue to go to . Now if they had better tasty drink selections, added more drinks to the menu, More options of food I feel that ppl would be willing to go more than just once . I would say it’s mainly the menu & drinks just needs more improvement especially for the price it should be worth it if you’re going to charge $16-$18 for alcohol beverage. They need to put on website about the service fee charge so customers won’t be surprised . Other than the menu the price of the drinks and the extra service charge it was great we had a good time it was clean the bathroom was clean the set up was amazing we took lots of pictures and the servers and staff members were respectful and nice so if they listen to the customers in these comments they’ll stay open for a very long time .

As a lifelong fan of Golden Girls, this was SO much fun! The sets were amazing and full of cool details. And I loved seeing all the other fans having a good time. The food: We ordered lasagna and the bacon, lettuce, and potato sandwich. The lasagna and garlic roll was not great, but the bacon, lettuce, and potato sandwich was one of the best I ever had, honestly! The cheesecake looked and tasted great - the strawberry slice was frozen but delicious! At 34 dollars per person plus tip, it was consistent quantity and quality for Wynwood. The drinks were fine and price was exactly what I would expect for the area. The service: they definitely have some logistical issues, but the people working there are extremely nice and clearly working hard and trying to make it a nice experience for the fans. Our server was a sweetheart. Yes, I could probably suggest a bunch of improvements, but for a traveling pop up experience, I was not at all disappointed.

We drove 5 hours to this event thanks to traffic jams. We were not pleased at all. We attended the first day of the event but not the first time slot. Several things need mentioning. 1. The seating was cramped. We were on the Lanai in a cute table for 2 but all other tables were really close and hard for people to get by. 2. There is not much explanation on what to do when you are there. They sat us but didn't explain where the other sets were. We figured that out by watching others. 3. THE MUSIC WAS WAY TOO LOUD!!!!!!!!. The Golden Girls theme song was played once. All other songs were not part of the era. We had the lasagna. It wasn't bad. I did not care for the cheesecake. We ordered chocolate and strawberry. We were served 2 chocolate pieces. Tasted like a creamy mousse cheesecake. Not the kind I would have depicted the girls having in the kitchen. We decided to get some souvenirs. We had them pull 2 items and I said my card was being used as a tab at the dining area (they are not on the same credit card machine). I left to go get my card and came back and the person sold one of my items because I had left and another person wanted it. It was the last lunch box they had. Really made my husband upset. We left early. Very disappointing.

First- the good. Theming was on point and will for sure make any golden girls fan excited! Also, the cheesecake was tasty. We also got truffle fries as an appetizer which were good as well but a bit overpriced at $12. The bad- i got the soup and salad combo and it was just god awful. The broccoli cheddar tasted like dishwater. The salad was basically a few wilted spinach leaves and a TON of carrots, which were dry. And why am I paying $40 plus $10 tip for a tiny bowl of carrots? I enjoyed it but if you are on the fence, I say pass. A lot of money for bad food which doesn’t make up for the theming.

There was nothing interactive at the event, other than some backdrops to take pictures. The food was nothing to write home about. The staff was extremely friendly and just ready to make you have a nice experience. There is a hidden experience fee that will be added to your bill that is not included in your original ticket price. This place is so not worth it.

The setup was nice. The food was bad which was lasagna that was salty no seasoning and dry garlic bread with no garlic on it. Drinks overpriced. Paid extra for guava cheesecake and it was ok. There was an additional fee just for seating.

If I could give it less than one star I would. We were so excited for this. Our first reservation got canceled for weather and we could only get a spot on the second the last day. Food. Terrible. We both got sick, our cheesecake and lasagna were frozen in the middle! Service. Terrible. “Waitress” paid more attention to her phone and got annoyed when we needed anything. Frozen drinks that were advertised, they didn’t have. Other snacks like tater tots or salads……….She got annoyed when we asked and said no we couldn’t order anything but drinks…..The girl that worked at the souvenir shop was so rude and annoyed with our questions about items for sale that she literally gave us something free just to get us to go away so she could play on her phone. Also, the store was completely completely out of everything. The bar tender was not in the same outfit as everyone else and just kept shoveling chips into his mouth, didn’t wash his hands and then make drinks touching the very thing….: Basically, it was a terrible experience from beginning to end. Which is pretty sad, considering how far we traveled and how excited we were. Such an opportunity for something amazing. And in Miami of all places.
