I'm here with a friend I rarely get to see. He is relying on me to pick a good place. I dediced to pick somewhere nearby (within 5 miles) and was torn between hot pot and Korean bbq. Hot pot it is!
Our first appetizer is a Wagyu flat iron steak and egg . In several areas of Japan, Wagyu beef is shipped carrying area names. Some examples are Matsusaka beef , Kobe beef , Yonezawa beef , Mishima beef , Ōmi beef , and Sanda beef . In recent years, Wagyu beef has increased in fat percentage due to decrease in grazing and an increase in using feed, resulting in larger, fattier cattle . Ray says it isn't the best he's had, but for an appetizer at a Vietnamese hot pot restaurant it isn't bad. It was cooked rare as was asked. It also comes with bread .
For my appetizer, I am having the Grilled Sliced Pork spring rolls. These are great ! You can taste the grill!
For my hot pot meal, I'm having the Cornish Hen with ginseng broth, Wagyu Brisket for the meat , Homemade Beef Paste (beef balls) as my side and Steamed rice . The broth is very salty but I think that's due to the Cornish hen (which has little meat so don't expect to eat it). The Wagyu brisket is very good . The beef "paste" you are supposed to use a spatula or some tool to scoop in to the broth. Be careful not to use too much because you want it to cook through. I fuu oh don't eat the rice but Ray said it was fine.
For Ray's meal, he has selected the Beef Bone Pho broth, the Wagyu Chuck Roll
and Steamed rice . He said it was very good !
