Golden Swan Opens This Month in Former Spotted Pig - Eater NY

"The Golden Swan, a retro-clubby bar and restaurant, will open on May 24. The space was gutted and renovated by Matt Abramcyk, who purchased it from Jay-Z’s real estate company. It features a cocktail lounge called the Wallace Room and an elevated dining room. The kitchen is run by former Bâtard chef, Doug Brixton." - Melissa McCart

Such an amazing experience! Love the variety of service options; Bar and Casual Dining or upstairs Formal Dining (where we were). There is even a special area on the top level that for up to 12 guests for special occasions. The food is unreal and has so much detail put in the the flavors of each entree. From the appetizers to the dessert they are something we will never forget and will come in town to come back to eat again. The chef has done a fabulous job with the menu and the ambience of the entire experience.

What a wonderful dinner! I want to come back to the bar for the burger and 11 dollar martinis. We had the entire upstairs dining room to ourselves for about an hour and it was quiet and lovely. We started with champagne and a blood orange spritz. Both were very nice and we moved on to a glass of the bordeaux. The salad was creamy and flavorful with a hint of spice. I wish they sold the dressing because it was fantastic and not something you find often. The steak tartare was perfection. The farfalle was delicate and the pesto was delicious with tomatoes that really added to the dish. The quail was almost like a sausage and it was nice as well, definitely different than what I expected but really yummy. And we finished with sticky toffee pudding that was very well balanced and not heavy handed with the butter or toffee. We also had a glass of Oremus dessert wine that paired well with the pudding because they were out of the Madeira. Loved loved loved this place.

Came for the Sunday brunch pancakes. But surprisingly the Brixton burger stole the whole show. It was juicy and delicious, the bun is crispy on the outside but still fluffy and soft on the inside. Pancakes are great. We also love the duck confit hash.

Came in with high hopes but largely left unimpressed. Service was attentive and the shining highlight; the food and atmosphere left much to be desired. Arrival was the first hiccup - took nearly 15 minutes to check in and required waiting outside given the small foyer. No reason or rationale was provided - perhaps because we were at opening? We were seated in the lower level, which was odd and empty. The bar was pumping music - perhaps appropriate for when fully occupied, but in a sparsely populated setting, it was overbearing and intrusive. No hand soap to be had in the bathroom - not a disaster but another fly in the increasingly distressed ointment. The food was hit or miss. The farafelle was delightful (albeit a tad too al dente for my liking) and the leek soup was a strong performer. The omelet (supposedly a star feature) was a complete and utter sad event. The Lobster was clearly not fresh, and the seasoning left you reaching for one’s water to allay the sodium content. The pancake was terrific although contrarily the crab benedict left much to be desired. The crème brûlée tart offered for desert is best skipped. You won’t be missing anything if you can’t attain a reservation here, and given the void that was downstairs, you should be able to walk in comfortably… at least for a Sunday brunch.

We went for the golden hour in the first floor Wallace bar! Super cute quaint bar with great food and drinks, but the staff made the experience! James was phenomenal. We didn’t know it was going to be dinner with a show! Thanks James!

Met all of my expectations. Tried 3 different occasions: brunch with family, dinner with friends and a birthday dinner. Each visit was a positive one. Great parking. Great service. Ask for James the server. He’s my favorite. You won’t be disappointed.

Google
West Village vibes with comfortable interior design and cosy seating - it was mostly a great experience especially since we walked in and the food was delicious (pancakes are some of the best I’ve had) with two notes. Firstly, I wish they told us on entry that they were not doing the iconic tableside omelette service that day - we only found out after we had already ordered a coffee. Secondly, we were awkwardly placed between a group of 8 people that were split into two tables who proceed to speak and almost shout over our table. While they managed the table and eventually moved them together, they didn’t really apologize or do anything with us which made it somewhat of a subpar experience.

Google
I had a fantastic experience at Golden Swan! I sat in the bar and, just before walking in, ran into Angelica who recommended some excellent choices. Even though she wasn’t my server, she still stopped by to make me feel welcomed, which really stood out. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and prepared perfectly—and the drinks were just as impressive, balanced and thoughtfully made. The staff showed genuine care for their guests, which made the whole evening even better. You can tell this place has a great culture—when employees support one another and go out of their way to make sure guests are taken care of, it shows in the overall experience. Highly recommend Golden Swan for both the atmosphere and the quality all around!

Yelp
5/5 for the Beautiful space upstair. Can't even tell it was Spotted Pig! A total transformation. 3.5/5 for the food experience. Truffle Tagliolini - pretty good, very creamy but the truffle essence is there. Salad Lyonnaise - very good but for $28...... Uhmmmm, wild. Foie Gras Mousse - classic yet basic. Fluke Crudo - it was unfortunately stringy and not good. Demkota NY Strip - it was okay Duck - it was okay Dover Sole - good, heavy on lemon butter. Creamed Spinach - not so creamy which is good parking for a heavy meal. Duck Fat Fries - crispy and delicious.

Yelp
Disappointing Birthday Experience Celebrated my birthday at Golden Swan NYC, and it was a letdown. Despite mentioning it in the reservation, I had to ask twice for a birthday candle. We were seated in a cramped, silent room with two other tables, making the atmosphere anything but festive. While the mains were good, everything else fell short. To top it off, we were overcharged by $50 and rushed out at the end because they needed the table. If it weren't my birthday, I would've left. Won't be coming back.

Yelp
Wow, this place was great! After reading great things about this spot, I'm glad I was finally able to go. I had the pancakes, which were incredible! The perfect flavor of a slight tartness and sweetness, along with an evident richness. The texture was also very good - slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. These were very filling on their own! I also had a side order of scrambled eggs and those were delicious - fresh and buttery! This is a charming and cozy restaurant. Perfect for brunch with a date or small group of friends. The service was warm and attentive. I'd definitely visit this place again!

Yelp
Went for Sunday Brunch. Strange. No maitre d to greet us when we walked in. Bartenders didnt even acknowledge us. Its trying so hard to be cool with ridiculous music at 11:20 am, no one in charge of the floor and service lacking that it wasnt enjoyable.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for dinner on Friday night and were astounded with our experience. I am vegan, they are both carnivores, and all of us left full and so happy we came. At first glance, their menu does not look vegan friendly whatsoever and I didn't expect to be able to eat much given French restaurants tend to be less vegan-friendly than other cuisines. Our waiter had a conversation with the chef and let me know they could do a vegan cavatelli pasta, a chilled corn, soup, or a little gem salad - all 100% vegan. I ordered the cavatelli pasta and wow was I impressed! The pasta was handmade that day and tossed with a delicious and light red sauce, fresh tomatoes, and herbs. Fresh pasta can be just as delicious and well-textured (is that a word?) without eggs so I would love to see more restaurants following suite! You can tell they take pride in the ingredients and presentation of their food. Everything was stunning to look at and even more delicious. After dinner, we went downstairs and enjoyed some drinks at the bar. Highly recommend the extra dirty vodka martini and espresso martini here! Can't wait to come back. Everyone working here is so kind and helpful.

Yelp
Excellent service. Laura was amazing and made my brunch experience very good. The food is also great! The Pancakes and the House-Made Tagliolini were both 10/10. Can't recommend enough.

Yelp
The Golden Swan is the real deal. Amazing food, great service in a beautiful space. Refined modern French cuisine with great cocktails and a wonderful wine list. While the menu may be small, the execution is perfect. Worth the wait to get a reservation. A winner on all levels, we will certainly be back very soon.

Yelp
This restaurant is wonderful. I had the duck confit hash and it was divine; rich, peppery and delicious. Service was great and the place looks gorgeous. I highly recommend.

Yelp
The Golden Swan took an ugly duckling of a space and turned it into one of the best restaurants in the West Village. They preserved enough of the landmark charm to preserve the community, but have truly transformed the upper floors into a comfortable yet elegant space. The food more than matches the ambience. Everything was made from fresh seasonal ingredients. We started with caviar (really high quality Osetra) and duck liver moose which paired perfectly with a rose from the Canary islands that the somme recommended. We split a risotto as a course and it came out perfectly al dente not like the precooked gruel that some places serve. We then had the duck and the lamb duo. Both had creative spice combinations and accompaniments that did bot overwhelm the ingredients. We then split the chocolate dessert. With our entrees and dessert we had a nice red wine that was reasonably price for being over 20 years old. What tops it all off was the service. Everyone is laidback yet attentive which makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The Golden Swan is a great addition to the neighborhood and we look forward to making it one of our new usual boîtes.

Yelp
The host is adorable! Her outfit her hair loved it all and she was so sweet, she let me sit way before the rest of my party arrived. We did walk-in and ate/drank in the Wallace room. The menu is smaller but everything we ate/drank was excellent. Love what they did with the old spotted pig space, def want to make a reso and dine upstairs. Steak tartare was delish, salad was great (yummy dressing), cavatelli was cooked perfectly Al dente and delicious. Portions are small and prices are high but relative to other restaurants it's comparable. Waitress was super attentive and sweet, staff seemed happy to be there.

Yelp
Absolutely love the quality of food and service. We went to the Wallace room on a Friday night and it was packed so definitely make reservations in advance. All the food was fantastic, my favorite was the duck confit and Housemade Cavatelli! My favorite dessert is the Sticky Toffee Pudding. I cant wait to come back and try the Dining room next time!

Yelp
This review is for the Wallace Room. Stopped in for a couple rounds of drinks. Small and chic interior and the cocktails were delicious which meets my criteria. The server wasn't memorable but that's ok.

Yelp
Really great burger with a side of antisemitism. Bartenders were great burger was fantastic drinks were good but the manager made a comment regarding Auschwitz. He came over and apologized and confirmed that yes it was a bad joke and he did not mean to ruin my evening but yes he did mention the bar seats and bar area being "more comfortable than Auschwitz" ....

Yelp
Such a gorgeous new spot with a solid menu of cocktails and food. Shout out to James who was a stellar server with great recommendations and who was full of knowledge about the history behind the names of the cocktails. The decor is beautiful, drinks were delicious, and service was top notch. There's also a big upstairs dining room and a smaller room in the back that can be rented. Very unassuming multipurpose place. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
They did a really beautiful job with the space. The menu is what it should be small and exquisitely executed. Each dish was exceptional. The service was impeccable. The wine suggested was perfect. Anthony who took care of us was wonderful.

Yelp
We came about a year ago and the food/service/ambiance was pretty good. We tried to come again but the experience was entirely different. First, we reserved a table in the dining room, but not only did they tried to seat us in the bar area, but also in the one minuscule table outside which seemed like it was put there as an afterthought. After asking for a table inside (even if it was at the bar area) they offered to move some patrons sitting at the bar so we could sit together. Not wanting to disturb the other guests, we decided to leave. The only good thing was that hostess was kind, but her manager was aggressive. Overall, very disappointing.

Yelp
My neighborhood go-to. Great atmosphere for a drink with friends or a date night. The Wallace room downstairs bar area meets all your needs. Host a private event in any of the rooms and be you will be sure to wow your guests. Service is top notch- the staff feels like family and the food is devine. Best new spot in the west village, sure to be a staple for years to come.

Yelp
We had a really fantastic and memorable meal at the Golden Swan. The decor is beautiful and trendy without being pretentious. The wait staff were extremely professional, courteous and attentive, right down to delivery of the dishes. Food was a high end twist on French classics, all executed flawlessly. Niçoise salad was the best I've ever had, the fois grois mousse was so deeply flavorful I could have lived in it forever. Incredible cocktails and mocktails. Damn. Take me back now.

Cooper D.

Yelp
they have a limited food menu as is. wanted to get the steak frites. they were out of steak frites at 7:30pm on a tuesday. that would be like going to au Cheval and them shrugging that they were out of burgers. this is not a real restaurant operation. not worth going if you do go - the cavatelli was best thing we had. and the drinks were good. location is great - look forward to what comes next in a few years. hopefully a place that indeed has steak

Yelp
Great food, beautiful place, perfect service, etc. Congrats to all involved in this fine project of a new restaurant. We had a terrific meal and hope to go back again and again.

Yelp
The service was a little less about essence of delivering taste, missed the point. It's not bad or good, mediocre.

Peter B.

Yelp
Incredible new spot in an iconic location. Food was amazing. Great wine list. The service team was a crew of pros, fully in sync with each other. Cliff had command of the room and every little amenity from the twist in the cocktail to that extra piece of crostini for the steak tartare was provided. Attention to detail was what stood out. Venison. Arctic char. Steak tartare. Salade Lyonnaise. Nuts! Can't wait for a return visit.

Susan M.

Yelp
Presentation and quality of food average; very small portions; way overpriced for what you get

Alex R.

Yelp
Kind of low rent - charge for additional bread with the tartare - food was good otherwise
