"Golden West is a small sandwich window in the Financial District. This place has a tiny menu of four sandwiches, plus a few specials that rotate. The sandwiches are heavy on fillings, like their short rib version with horseradish cream that’s good when you’re really hungry, but maybe not so great if you have a lot to accomplish in the hours after lunch." - Will Kamensky

The bun is perfect and the filing is delicious! Had the buffalo chicken with blue cheese sauce. Will definitely come back.

Really enjoy the alley location. It's randomly super clean and nice to walk down. The sandwiches are great. The chili I had was a bit bland but was healthy and generally quite good! People there are super nice. I think if they can get the food to be more flavorful, I'll be happy to give 5 stars! They're really more like a 4.5 haha.

It can be easy to miss this place. It's tucked away in the alley known as Trinity Pl, very close to Montgomery & Sutter. If you walk within 50 feet of Golden West between 7 AM and 10 AM, you will smell the drool-triggering aroma of freshly baking bread. I believe that the bread used by both Golden West and The Sentinel is baked here in the mornings. This place is owned by the same people who run The Sentinel. I must say, I prefer The Sentinel, and if you're really looking for a top notch sandwich, go there. The Golden West has a tasty (and heavy) short rib sandwich, and a few other things, and the service is extremely fast. The bread is awesome. I think they also have breakfast options, but I've never gotten them.

This place is a unique spot to grab lunch. They are located on a side street in the Financial District and have a window to order from. The sandwiches are quite large and offer flavors that are not seen at most other sandwich shops in the area. My only qualm with The Golden West is the limited number of items on the menu.

The sandwiches are superb as everyone says (just like their sister restaurant, SENTINEL) but kinda small. It will leave a grown man still a bit hungry. My favorite part is the bread which is fluffy and baked in-house I think. GAHHH <3 I'm glad this place is more popular now - there's been a long line during lunch hours!! I used to come a year ago and there'd only be 3 other people waiting but I'm glad they're getting more business now, they deserve it! The salads here are also great. They PACK it with so many ingredients its more like a full-on meal (sometimes I wish they'd put more greens or at least go easy with the ingredients), but hey, its worth my money I suppose. + again free bread with your salad, YUM Their menu is seasonal so check it out before you head over.

I am a sucker for a little hidden gem and this one does not disappoint! Small menu and it's just a walk up window, but they bake their bread fresh every day and have a chef on staff that makes everything. Get the deviled egg sandwich; it's fantastic.

Had a great wasabi chicken salad here. Can't wait to try the pulled pork sandwich. Everything is around $9 for lunch here. Quick service and good food and in a random alley. I'll be back here.

Great sandwiches. The bread is home baked and the sauces always compliment the ingredients. It's reasonably priced, too! My favorite so far is the deviled egg sandwich
