13 Great Austin Bars With Activities - Austin - The Infatuation

"There’s a bar at The Grand on Airport Boulevard, but it plays a supporting role to the main attraction: billiards. This is a pool hall and bar that’s been around for decades, and it doesn’t look like it’s changed much at all in that time. Despite the massive room of tables, there’s often a wait here on Friday and Saturday nights. Don’t worry, the drinks are cheap and you can just hang out at the bar." - nicolai mccrary

Robust selection of quality pool tables and great service. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by a staff member who checks IDs and gives you the rundown on the different size pool tables, pricing and all that. There’s 3 different size tables basically easy medium and hard. We picked the standard regulation table. All the pool tables, cues and balls are in good condition and didn’t have any issues with the equipment. There’s also darts, a foosball, even some pinball machines! Drinks were fair but the tonic was flat. Didn’t mention anything because we were just having a good time. Cocktail servers checked up on us multiple times to make sure we were good and didn’t need anything. Once we finished, the server came and brushed down the table to keep it nice for the next party- no wonder the tables are so nice! Music is fun and lots of classic hits from the 80s- good vibes! Overall service was great, atmosphere was cool and the vibe was on point. Definitely a great place to shoot some pool. Will be back.

It’s a bit of a local secret. Been around for what feels like forever. Fairly priced drinks, solid enough pool tables (8ft + 9ft, plus 2 quarter tables), a couple dartboards, a foosball table, and a full bar. Plenty of parking, and they have a small enclosed patio for smoking if that’s your thing. I’d recommend eating beforehand—they used to have a small kitchen on site pre-Covid, but now it’s basically Digiorno. And your table-neighbors probably don’t want to smell your poor late-night eating decisions. Soup Peddler, In-N-Out, and Lazarus Brewing are less than a 3 minute walk away. Note: you probably want to avoid Tuesday evenings when they get busy for league night. It’s harder to get a table after 5.

Google
This is the nicest looking pool hall that I have seen in Austin. The tables look to be in very good condition. Best to go in the day time though, because it is only $6 per hour in the day. That price doubles to $12 per hour, in the evening, from what the bartender told me one day. Also, it is a bummer that they do not hold regular cash tournaments. They only do League nights, several nights a week. Very nice pool hall though. Wish I lived closer.

I truly fell in love with this property, the team is ptodessional and know their property so well. Jackie Lopez helped me tour and was attnetive to my needs and represented The Grant beautifully. I waw impressed by how every level has a special amenity, a zen area, club house and more.

Google
The quintessential divey pool bar you didn't know you were missing. Plenty of pool tables, its dark, worn interior, plus friendly regulars, We did go on a busy night & found service lacking. We were told we’d have a waitress but after a few rounds of pool we ended up just going to the bar to place our own orders, pretty straightforward menus. When we wanted food we were told all they had was sausage & pepperoni pizza which was lacking. We ended up just going to Tyson’s tacos next door. Basically it’s a perfect spot to drink beer & play pool.

Google
Good folks, great service! I particularly enjoyed how much the Waitress and bartender were Talkative and took the time to chat a little!

Google
The bartender was rude...a group of us went there to play pool and have drinks.. we had fun among us but never going there again...for the bartenderi understand you were solo but act like you enjoy your job or stay home..

Yelp
Solid 3.5 stars. Plenty of parking. Inside is well lit with plenty of pool tables and room to move. Lone star and Modelo on tap There's an outdoor smoking area with plenty of picnic tables. A couple of pinball machines. Good mix of eclectic music from Rock to Pop. You can start a tab and order from many servers walking around. Pretty solid spot off airport and I-35

Yelp
This is one of those places that you come to, knowing what you're expecting. Very much for the locals, very much for people who love playing pool, no fancy lights, or catch a gimmicks, just a hall and a bar at the end. I must walked past this place 1 million times but we finally went in one day and I was pretty happy with the atmosphere.

Yelp
Not too crowded and near Central Austin. I didn't order any food but my friend ordered a Supreme pizza and it smelled amazing. Of course, there are drinks -remember to bring your ID. You can take the cue sticks from the wall and go to any table to start playing pool. It is a great place to have fun with friends!

Trista V.

Yelp
I don't even know where to start. This place has the worst service I've ever experienced. From the moment we walked in, the staff acted like we were a burden. They were rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in helping us. We waited nearly 30 minutes just to get someone's attention, and when we finally did, they acted annoyed to take our order. The tables were in terrible condition, the cues were warped, and the entire place felt neglected. To top it off, when we raised concerns about the equipment, the staff shrugged it off like they couldn't care less. Honestly, this was one of the worst nights out I've had in a long time. Save your time and money - go somewhere else

Yelp
Hey if you just wanna get out the house and do something different, why not go to the grand? I met up with someone that I met recently and play pool with this person. They suggested this pool hall and I did enjoy myself there. I love that the waiters continue to check on me and make sure that we were good.

Yelp
Great place to kick back with a few chilled beers and play some pool! Very dive-y low-key vibe but guaranteed to be a good time

Yelp
Bad management. Joe was extremely disrespectful, did not feel welcomed whatsoever. Not coming back.

Simmy K.

Yelp
Visually this pool hall looked really nice, the pool tables were taken care of very well. But the process of getting a table was extremely confusing and took forever. We had to get on a list written by the bartenders for the next open table. And were told it'd be a 45 minute wait. At 45 minutes no one had come to get us. We had no confirmation text or buzzer or anything. We were just going off the fact that the bartenders could remember the faces to the name. At 45 minutes we went to go ask the eta of getting a table and then got lectured by the bartender that he had no way of knowing and the eta that was given wasn't actually a accurate number. Ended up waiting near 2 hours for a table. Very crowded and I feel like it's not the best place for beginners, everyone there seemed like professional players and not the nicest. I would go to Betsy billiards.

Amber G.

Yelp
Did Amber (bartender) learn how to work that TV remote yet? Haha!! I witnessed her tell three different customers to "F*-* off dude!" Because she was embarrassed that she couldn't change the channel. Some of those customers weren't even 'dudes'. Lol Rest of the staff is cool and the pool cues are mostly straight. Good patio and vibe (besides Amber, who needs to talk to a professional, not a barstool shrink). So if you see a middle aged woman working behind the bar with a 'trying (way) too hard' "look-at-me" "rocker" haircut (but looks like she never held an instrument in her life), just turn around or better yet, order from the rest of the staff and enjoy yourself!! Bless this mess, and bless Amber's tiny little heart. Lol!!

Yelp
I have been frequenting this place for over a year and drop a good penny in this place. After a year of effort, there has been nothing that I could do to get the bartenders at this place to treat me with respect. I have watched them interact with other patrons, smile, laugh and acknowledge the existence of others. However, I have not been able to get anyone to make eye contact or speak with me - I am spoken at. Even after presenting my ID, I am misgendered. It is clear they are OK with the gays, but they do not treat trans people with respect or dignity. This place employs a bunch of self-hating TERFs. I tried. I gave effort only to be treated as less than human.

Pedro R.

Yelp
Perfect service. Chill ambience. Great beer and music selections! Plenty of tables so no long waits especially depending what time you go.

Vivian S.

Yelp
Bought the package deal to later find out you still have to pay extra for the shoes even though you paid for bowling to be included. They should let you know that when you buy the package deal!!

Yelp
I really like this place :). They have a great beer menu, some tasty frozen pizza that I find hard to believe is frozen pizza haha, good music, good vibes, and pool! The pool is incredibly cheap if you come here early so try to come during the afternoon if you can. Only complaint maybe the beer if kind of overpriced but I feel like that for every restaurant or bar I go to almost so whatever :)

Yelp
With a few minor aesthetic and crowd changes The Grand could very well be a Fast Eddies or any chain pool hall. Fortunately there is something sort of kismet here that turns it into melting pot of cool. When I first moved to ATX this place was called Eric's Billiards, my friends and I would come here and drink cheap pitchers of Lone Star and close the nights out with some donuts from Mrs Johnson's Bakery. I'll always have a special place in my heart for the building and the location. The good thing about the Grand is that its still basically just Eric's with a different name. I hadn't stooped by in quite some time but recently my wife wanted to stop and get Ice Cream and Sweet Ritual which I totally wasn't in the mood for so I decided to get some whiskey and a beer while she went for Ice Cream. When I walked into The Grand I was overwhelmed by the smell of brisket. It was around 4pm but the bar was already hoppin and there were quite a few people playing pool and hanging out. Turns out they have a kitchen now and serve food and while I didn't eat any the place smelled amazing. I got a shot and beer and stood at the bar taking everything in.. The Grand is like that beautiful neighborhood bar in every small town in Texas except its infused with some Austin weirdness.. not in the Keep Austin Weird way that's just a little too commercial but in that everyone in the bar is a local who's looking for some AC and cheap drinks and just happens to have a very weird vibe kinda way. Amanda came over with her ice cream and we sat on the patio for a while and just enjoyed the environment and I realized that I need to make sure in the future to take some time now and then to go out to The Grand, if you like good bars you should too!

Yelp
Finally got to shoot some pool during COVID. They asked you to wait at the door until someone could greet you. We had to wear mask unless we were at our pool table. the server brought the pool sticks and balls to you once you decided if you wanted to shoot at a 8 or 9 foot table. it was $10/hour and the beers were inexpensive like $3-5 for draft local beers. nice place that's close by and not crowded. I appreciate the chance to play.

Landrie K.

Yelp
The girls here have seriously bad attitude. Everytime me and my girls go to play a few rounds of pool we either get ignored or are told to hurry up and play our game as if we didn't pay for our table. All around shit service, what's the point of drink girls if every time we have to just get up and walk to the bar to not get ignored.

isaac r.

Yelp
I went while on a business trip with some coworkers and I enjoyed my visit. Drinks were amazing and it had a great atmosphere. The service was always om point. The only negative I would say is that we order pizza twice and they came out bad. The first one was burnt and the second one was a little raw. Other then that my experience was pretty good. I would definitely come back again but I'll make sure to eat before I go haha!

Yelp
This place is all about Billiards. So if you're looking for a place for billiards or pinball, this is your spot. I'm not sure how long they've been around but it's been close by and I never knew it existed. I used to play often, and spend hundreds weekly shooting pool and socializing. Pay by the hour or choose the prepay tables, you're guaranteed to have fun. There's a jukebox in house, so you can choose your background music while playing. Full bar and drinks are well poured. They even offer infused tequila, how often I'm not sure. Pricing is unbelievably inexpensive compared to what I've paid in the past. All the tables are well maintained and service was attentive. I will definitely be making this a periodic stop.
google avatar

Bob J.

Yelp
I get it, this is a pool hall but if you're gonna have darts ... maintain them. New darts are pretty cheap. These were so dull they literally kept falling out of the board . Also you can't vape inside. Ok.

E J.

Yelp
Dress up emo or punk if you want to be treated like a human being in here. Otherwise, just expect to be singled out and disrespected by staff. This used to be the home of the female pro in Texas, now the pictures are gone and the staff doesn't seem to respect pool players. Bathroom stalls have no doors and usually one toilet filled with piss that won't flush. Beer is cold, some bartenders are cool, hence 2 stars.

Yelp
I like The Grand. This place has a Tornado foosball table, decent set of darts, working dry erase markers for the dart board, lots of pool tables, alright priced pitchers, and a great selection of draft beer. Lately I have been watching the NBA Playoffs (Go Spurs Go!) here with a few others who are in the bar watching on one of tv's. I have had a great time. Usually I have a flat screen tv all to myself (the one near the jukebox) while watching the games. The waitresses are very nice and kind and know exactly when I need another beer. I would suggest getting the tallboys if you want more bang for your buck. I think on Wednesdays they are $2 each that includes PBR, Lonestar, and I think Miller Lite...? Great place, super close to my place, and if you feel like losing at foosball you should go here and find me. I will most likely be waiting to kick your butt! (thanks to The Grand for allowing me to get my game down on your Tornado table)
google avatar

Pheobe H.

Yelp
EEEEWWWW Bitchy service, I could shoot 4 or 5 games before the cocktail waitress comes back with my first drink. Pretentious and entitled. Don't try so hard! And you're not allowed to massé.... At a pool hall... Clicks makes The Grande look like a wet dog.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Amazing service, not a ton of people (feels very covid friendly) and best priced drinks in town. Perfect for a divey evening.
google avatar

Kristen P.

Yelp
Train wreck. I have always been disappointed with their customer service, but figured if I went enough that would change .... WRONG!! Absolute trash .... got a drink and went to my car for smokes, 3 mins max - came back and my drink was gone. Hadn't even sipped my whiskey. My friends didn't notice the waitress take it :( Long story short they didn't give af. It's so easy to keep people happy but they don't know how ... ghetto manager. No worries ...I won't come back with my ' $100 tabs. Weekly. Your business shuts down within a year .. BYEEEEEEEE PS: your bathrooms are gross

Yelp
The Grand impresses time and time again. Tonight I spoke with the manager about how the middle school I work at just bought a new table for our kids but the cues they purchased lacked tips. I asked where I could get proper cues and he graciously helped me acquire two tipped cues at a more than reasonable price. The Grand has the best staff, the best tables, and the best any pool hall has to offer. Also, their new kitchen is tasty AF.
google avatar

Yelp
Hold up, wait a minute. I was totally surprised by this place. Expecting a dark and smoky, gangsters in the corner, squinting to see your pool ball kind of place. We joked in the parking lot that we were about to enter realms never before experienced and then... I walk in to a huge bar (huge) with pool tables as far as the eye can see, very well lit, TVs for sports, dart board for playin', patio for smokin and lots of drinking, natch. Also, instead of smoke, it smells like... pizza! They serve Digiorno's style meat lovers, supreme and cheese pizzas for $8 every night. Lemme tell ya -- after a couple of drinks, that pizza begins to worm it's way into your brain until you HAVE to order one. And it tastes like heaven. We shot some pool, shot the sh!t, gossiped and drank and laughed about this lady's mirrored pants. And as a total bonus, the bathroom graffiti was hilarious. One thing I neglected to mention: They answer the phone. I call at 11:30 on a Friday night and they answer the damn phone. No fax line, no pre-recorded, outdated message, just a nice lady letting you know that they're open til 2. And that is a star in my book.

Yelp
Capsule review: The Grand is a really nice little niche pool hall for North Loopers and Hyde Parkers who want a reasonable evening out without the hassle and expense of Downtown. Full review below. Sometimes you just want a chill night out: no shots with seven ingredients, no night buses full of open containers back from East Sixth, no frills, and no bullsh*t. The Grand is one of the better options around for this, either as a solo option of part of an Airport/North Loop crawl. For starters, the place is huge. You won't wait for a pool table, and you even get to pick your flavor: coin ops for casual, single-serving games, or by the hour on either regulation or bar-sized tables, depending on your skill and BAC. Tables and sticks are well-maintained and hourly rates are affordable. Setup is full bar and cocktail service, with nightly specials even on weekends (e.g. cheap beer and a well shot for $5 on Fridays, $3.50 craft pints on Saturday). Prices are super grad-budget friendly like that, although the sheer size of the place makes the cocktail service a little slow. If you like to drink fast, skip it and order from the bar. There's an even cheaper happy hour every day until seven, but I'm never organized enough for that. The Grand is a dive, but not in dangerous way, and people mind their pool etiquette pretty well. Well, not dangerous except for the bathrooms. I could see terrible things happening in there. Google "worst toilet in Scotland" and you'll get the idea. Some crappy bar food is available if, like me, you're annoyed that In and Out Burger is the last chain on earth not to have heard of a veggie burger. But I digress. There's also a seating area away from the pool tables if you just want to booze/play electro-darts and some pinball. I must confess that I also find these charms worth exploring. So, especially given the relative paucity of neighborhood options with a 2AM license in this part o' town, I say the Grand is a keeper.

Yelp
I haven't been this offended in Austin...well...ever. Had I known that the patron your bartender was defending (7/12/19 around 4:30pm) was being a jerk and condescending to my boyfriend; I wouldn't have apologized, or tipped. Your bartender was rude to us from the moment we walked in, my friend tried making jokes, it was evident that we weren't welcome. You can say he was drunk, you can say the opposite of what happened (go check out the tapes). We both know it was over the top. Don't worry, we won't be back. You should get the whole story before you defend someone next time. Just a suggestion :)

Yelp
Music, pool tables, full bar...nice. This place is pretty fun when you are looking for something different to do. We decided to head here after happy hour and we easily got a pool table. You will be greeted at the door and asked for ID no matter how old you look. The server takes your drink order and you either pay or start a tab much like any bar. We played a few rounds of pool and went to use the ladies room. Here's where the YUCK factor comes into play. You walk in the bathroom door to be greeted by another door right in your face. The bathroom has grafitti all over the walls and smells of urine. To boot, it obviously has not been cleaned in some time and I wouldn't even do the hover to go. We left half of our party and ran down the street to Wendy's to go to the bathroom. When we got back we ordered some more drinks and found out there was an outside patio on the back that you can smoke on. We decided to check it out and it's small but, nice. On the way by we saw some pinball machines and a foosball table! We couldn't help but, insert our money in the change machine and play a few rounds. They have 2 that are 50 cents per play for 3 balls and the rest are 75 cents per play for 3 balls. I felt that was a bit overpriced but, it was enjoyable for the 60 seconds that we did it. We also played foosball which was only 75 cents so, that lasted a bit longer. Our server was prompt with refills and they had some specials going on, ie. $2.50 lonestars! Our tab wasn't too bad and the tables are only $8.00 an hour. I feel like you come here to hang out and people watch too! I would come back but, I will make sure to slow my drinking roll so, I don't have to use the bathroom ever. PS the guys that were with us said the men's room wasn't much better!

Yelp
My family and I found out about this little pool hall several months ago when we stopped for breakfast at a nearby restaurant. When walking around the shopping center we came across this place and were quite surprised we never heard of it. A couple months later when we were looking for a place to play some pool we recalled that this place was pretty nice and in a good location. We then came out to play and were very happy with our experience. The place was clean and the tables are pretty nice. We paid five dollars per hour per table so it's definitely a very inexpensive place to play. They had free water and carbonated water at the bar, which is always nice considering I don't drink. The bartender was pretty nice and allowed us all to play with a valid 18 years or older ID. Overall good experience and will definitely return.

Yelp
If you want pool, this is a good place. We went there with guys before my wedding and had a good time. Lots of tables, not too crowded that day. Quiet and serious.

Yelp
When I walk in this place, I think of the Fleetwood Mac song "Gypsy" for some reason. "So I'm back, to the velvet underground Back to the floor, that I love To a room with some lace and paper flowers Back to the gypsy, that I was To the gypsy, that I was And it all comes down to you Well, you know that it does Well, lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice Ah, and it lights up the night And you see your gypsy You see your gypsy" If you're a hardcore pool player, you are probably already aware of this place. Why? Because it's awesome and has everything. There is a sea of pool tables, always one available unless you walk in on a tournament. Then there's always the coin slot tables instead of being charged by the hour. Someone will come by and bring you your drinks so you don't have to miss your next shot. They've got some tables and couches for those just wanting to watch a game on TV or sit at the bar. Even a strange loungey area that I've never ventured over to. A patio for the smokers in the back parking lot for your viewing pleasure. Perfect location too, quite CENTRAL, near Hyde Park and easy 35 access. Look, I'm no good at pool. But I'm getting astronomically better. I'll never be a shark, but I've got distracting skills for whomever I play. But I'm really looking forward to coming here during ROT rally. And through some observations, I've determined that any business that has a Crypt Keeper pinball machine and carries Red Stripe is more than A-Ok in my book.

Yelp
Yeeeehaww!! The grand is the ONLY pool hall that I frequent, hell I don't even like pool! The staff and owner are down-to-earth and sweet as pie! PIE, I tell you! The monday night Dj's, Ben Blackout and Yevez are magical and so is the Grand. See you there.

Yelp
I love The Grand. I come here to work on my pool game (day or night) and just chill with friends. It is a total eighties-style dive located in this ridiculous shopping plaza on Airport. You'll pretty much decide whether you love or hate it within ten seconds. The setting is definitely a departure from downtown and eastside bars, it's very laid back. Perfect for going out when you don't necessarily feel like going out, and you still get glorious people-watching opportunities. This place draws a diverse and interesting crowd... various ethnicities, hardcore pool sharks, aging cowboys, hipsters, etc. Bar staff is great. The servers are attentive and generally warm and friendly. They mix pretty strong liquor drinks and the prices on everything seem reasonable. Always fun to share a Lone Star pitcher! Personally I think the jukebox rules. Plenty of classic rock, good random nineties alternative and punk. And people actually use it... sweet. The Grand has tons of pool tables, some foosball and darts. They just added a patio addition out back, which is nice for joining my friends on smoke breaks.

Yelp
A friend of mine had a birthday recently and she wanted to play some pool. The Grand was right between her house (South Austin) and mine (North Austin) which was perfect. The tables and cues are in great condition and the lighting and music on a Saturday night were just right for the cozy, dive-y pool hall we were in the mood for. The service was great as well, our waitress was attentive and cute as a button. I called ahead and asked if we could bring outside food (which we could) so a quick stop at House Pizzeria up the street made for a really enjoyable evening. Yes, people are smoking in there, but not until after 11 and it's not that bad, and it was really affordable: 6 people drinking for 5 hours and 2 hours of pool and our total bill was $108. Hard to beat in Austin!
google avatar

Amelia L.

Yelp
The Grand is magical. It's huge, dark, and no longer filled with thick cigarette smoke, which I appreciate. You will always find an open pool table, and the awesome (laid-back but still totally on top of things) cocktail waitresses will always find you. The default vibe is working class relaxed but during music nights and special events the bar becomes more fancy-hipster. Attractions include big TV's, darts, pinball, Mario Kart, live music (check their Myspace), service industry night, and cheap Lone Stars. Whenever I go here I drink my fill and play hours of pool and ALWAYS somehow escape with a bill under $20. Top 5 in Austin!
google avatar

Yelp
Smoke-filled pool hall (regardless of the so-called smoking ban). The only upside - Pinball. Pins at this location: Addams Family (Williams 1992) http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=20 Dirty Harry (Wililams 1995) http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=684 I happened to get the Grand Champion score on the Dirty Harry machine on my second game. (Score was like around 1,130,000,000) which is kinda cool. Too bad the smoke was too annoying - we left 4 replay credits on the machine.

Yelp
The pool hall is awesome. The music DJed every first Monday is awesome. What's not awesome is when people make gloss-over generalizations based on a particular encounter. Oh and every first Monday pool is FREE for anyone who works in the service industry....AWESOME.

Yelp
Sigh, The Grand. We used to be so close, granted, you had a different name then: Eric's. You were my neighborhood spot, and my buddies and I frequented you on a weekly basis to satiate our alcohol-based needs. You were my soulmate, my true one-and-only haunt. But with your new name you seem like a new bar, and I'm not sure I like the new you. Whenever I leave your bar my clothing reeks of cigarette smoke, and the dart boards were not taken care of (and a few were even removed!). But you did fix the bathrooms....so, kudos for that. You would qualify as a dive bar, if only your beer prices actually had dive bar prices. And perhaps it's just false nostalgia, but I loved you when you were an empty little room that was a great place to be noisy on weekdays. Now, it seems you've grown out of my league: both in patronage and in availability. It seems you have moved on from us scraggly hipster folk. I suppose it is time for me to move on as well. Nonetheless, you get three stars from me. One for our past, two for being the only decent bar in the area, and three for your generally awesome staff.

Yelp
I love the Grand. I played on a league here for a year and generally come by a couple times a week. The Grand is just a few blocks from my apartment so I tend to come here at the end of a night to cap things off. Sometimes I'm a bit hazy by the time I get there ("did we go to the Grand last night?") and the staff are pretty tolerant, as I know most of them by name at this point. One of my favorite half-memories, "OK everybody, we're closed, time to go. Joe..." The only complaint I have, as someone mentioned before, is the DJ on Sunday nights. The real problem is the sound system they are using. It's really loud and shrill. They play classic rock and r&b music. I just don't understand what's cool about that. On Mondays they have punk bands and the place is flooded with punk hipsters which is OK with me, but the Sunday night DJ doesn't seem to have any subculture appeal in particular and to me is just unnecessary raucousness. Overall, I love the Grand and I don't know what I would do without it!

Yelp
Pool, drinks, DJs, and very nice staff provide for a great place to hang out. They even have a Foosball table and some pinball machines if you're not in the mood to play some billiards. Drinks are delicious and reasonably priced. This place is my go to hangout.

Yelp
One of a kind pool hall tucked away in an unassuming parking lot right next to 35. Looks dull enough from the outside view, but inside you'll find over 20 pool tables (most full size--8ft), darts, a cd juke box, pinball machines, and a full bar with lots of specials and plenty of cheap beer. Also features a nice smoking area outside. Pro tip: pool is free for industry employees Sunday and Monday nights. Also 3$ lone star mini pitchers on those same nights. Overall, the Grand is a great place where lots of locals hang out, with plenty of high quality pool on any given night. They also do pool leagues fairly regularly. Check it out!

Yelp
I love this place! The bartenders are awesome. There are plenty of pool tables, usually easy to to get one. We go on Monday nights! Good tunes, good people and good drinks. One of my favorite Austin hangouts.

Yelp
Shout out to The Grand-Social Club and Billiards and the staff - I've been calling this at my "Cheers" since August, and my last visit reminded me why this place has such a warm place in my ... since around mid-October I've been working a lot more and basically completely isolating myself at home the hours I am not working, struggling with depression and various PTSD "symptoms." Last night I decided to meet with a newer friend and I suggested my Cheers, the place I always feel most comfy being out at and that I missed. As soon as I got to the bar I was welcomed as if I had never become a recluse, and my favorite waitress/bartender made me feel like she missed (seeing) me as much as I missed (seeing) her. I didn't quite get a "NORM!" but, they do know and remembered my name (they even remembered my stupid pay card and attempted to work around it), and The Grand continues to be the spot that's nice to get away to when I allow myself to take a break from all of my worries

Yelp
a great pool hall. waitstaff have been there for years and are typically very cool. only thing that really bugs me sometimes is when they have a dj play and they're obnoxiously loud. next time i'm going to ask them to turn that shit down. a pool hall is supposed to be mellow. anyway the drinks aren't too pricey and the tables are in good condition.

Yelp
This place would be great if the staff didn't suck, and the bathrooms weren't so nasty. Other than that, I guess it's okay. Occasionally there's live music. There's lots of hipsters. Usually a place to park.

Yelp
I cmae here last night with some freinds and didn't ahve the best experience i've ever had. mainly felt ripped off because we thought pool was free and it wasn't. no one told us it wasn't free. we played for a long time. wish we had known it wasn't free before we started playing because we probably wouldn't have played so long. i all i wanted to do was play free pool and i couldn't. i will not be playing pool here any more but i might come back to enjoy the atmosphere as it was prettty good. thanks, grail.
