Let me start by saying that even though we had a reservation, we waited 28 minutes for our table, so as you can imagine, we started off on the wrong foot. Fortunately, Dominic was our server, and I can honestly say he saved the night. He was friendly, fast, and straight to the point. The food was good overall, with the exception of the croquetas, which arrived frozen inside. Everything else was quite enjoyable. We tried the gyozas, plantains with bacon, grilled cheese, and the local burrata, which is a musttry. Just because of Dominic’s excellent service, I’m willing to give them a second chance. And don’t skip dessert the chocolate cake with caramel is something you absolutely have to try.

Went here for the first time on Valentine’s Day and can say confidently be back again soon! The food was incredible and they had a fantastic wine selection. I recommend this for anyone looking for a date night or a girls’ dinner. You have to get the croquetas with black truffle honey, as well as the burrata.

I really wanted to love the Great Ape as I try to support local restaurants whenever I can. Unfortunately, the experience fell short and left me disappointed. While the service was friendly, both the pacing and quality of the food missed the mark. They offer a solid wine selection, but the majority of bottles are priced at $50+ with markups that feel excessive. We ordered a bottle, but it was still chilling when all four appetizers arrived within just five minutes of ordering — leaving us without wine to pair with the food. Croquettes & yuca bravas- Delicious and well-prepared. Tartar with plantains - Overly salty and overwhelmed by lime, which clashed with the plantains. Vaca frita bao - Flavorless, with an odd consistency — it honestly felt like biting into a veggie patty. After the appetizers, we waited nearly 40 minutes for our single steak entrée to share. The restaurant wasn’t full (it was a rainy Saturday), so the delay was confusing. When the steak finally arrived, it was cold and cooked rare instead of the medium we ordered. We could have sent it back, but didn’t want to wait another stretch of time. Our bill — one discounted bottle of wine, four small appetizers, and one steak — came to $160 before tip. I’ve had far better meals in Spain for a fraction of the cost. The concept seems aimed at bringing Spanish lifestyle and cuisine to South Miami, but it felt more like another Wynwood-style, Instagram-friendly spot with NFT ape art on the walls. I appreciate the effort and the friendly staff, but the food lacked consistency, the pacing was off, and the overall experience just didn’t have much soul. Unfortunately, I can’t say I’d return — there’s still plenty of work to be done.

The flavors, presentation, and vibe all hit just right. On top of that, the wine selection is massive—something for every taste and occasion. The servers are amazing, super attentive, and always on point. This place has instantly become a go-to for great food, great wine, and a great time. Highly recommend!

The sangria was made with what seamed to be canned fruit cocktail. The drink was good but I wasn't a fan of the fruit they used. See pics of what we ordered. The wayermelon ceviche was different and delicious. The wagyu stuffed dumplings were also a great tasty dish. The person with the ape mask on singing was a restaurant stopper. I recently celebrated my birthday at the grape ape and I cannot rave enough about the team. They truly did their best in accomodating my large party from the initial reservation, Galiana, was so friendly and helpful in organizing the event. Our hostess was also wonderful in accommodating our group inside since it was pouring rain!! I loved all the staff from the hostess to bartender and our server Sophie was just the best. She recommended an incredible wine based on my preferences - thank you sophie for the best recs! The grape ape has great atmosphere, wine selections, and staff - live music was also a nice touch. For sure will be going again. 💜

We were excited to try The Grape Ape, especially as fans of Chef Rapicavoli’s other restaurants. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance had a lively energy—though on the louder side. Unfortunately, the food didn’t meet expectations. Of the small plates, the ceviche was overwhelmed by cilantro and lime, masking any delicate flavors of the fish. The gyoza were our least favorite—rubbery in texture and with a filling that tasted like it had been previously frozen. It felt more reheated than freshly made. The burrata was the highlight of the small plates, though it had very little stracciatella inside. The bread it came with, however, was excellent. The steak frites was a letdown. The fries were unsalted and tasted stale, while the steak itself lacked seasoning and depth of flavor. Overall, while the service and vibe were solid, the food missed the mark. We really enjoy Chef Rapicavoli’s other spots, so this was a disappointing experience.

We celebrated Friendsgiving this year at Grape Spring in South Miami, and honestly, we couldn't have picked a more perfect spot. They accommodated our party of eight flawlessly, and to top it off, we even had live music on a Wednesday night. This place is such an incredible wine place with tons of amazing bottles and varieties to choose from. You basically shop around the space, pick out your own wine, and bring it back to the table for your server to open and serve. Everything is organized by region and the prices vary so you can easily find something that fits your taste and budget. Every staff member we encountered was fantastic, and everything we ate and drank was just as good. We started with a red Pinot noir bottle we loved so much that we ended up ordering three more for the table. For food, we ordered several dishes to share: The Marinated Olives which i didn't try these because I'm not an olive person. The Bacon Wrapped Plantains which was such a unique combo, and surprisingly delicious. The Local Burrata which was absolutely delicious. I've never met a pan con burrata I didn't like. The Manchego Croquetas were my absolutely favorite. manchego is one of my favorite cheeses, so I already knew I'd love this. Perfectly balanced, not greasy at all, crispy on the outside, melty and creamy on the inside. The honey sauce on the side was the perfect touch. We also got the Steak Frites & Chicken to share which was super tender, flavorful, and the fries were perfectly crispy, just how I love them. They were out of the yuca bravas, so we couldn't try these but they sound phenomenal. And we couldn't chose what desssert we wanted so we went with all three. The flourless chocolate cake with icecream, the key like tres leche and the guava tiramisu. Alll delicious !! And lastly , i have to highlight Thalia, our server. She was exceptional! Truly a five-star experience for our first visit. She handled our group of eight with ease, was always on top of refills without us having to ask, knew the menu inside and out, and gave amazing recommendations. She made the whole night even better. Can't wait to come back especially for lunch since she mentioned they have great lunch specials. This spot is definitely a new favorite,

Food and service were both excellent. The wine selection was outstanding. Some standouts included the pan tumaca, tuna tostones and octopus in particular the black garlic sauce. The yuca brava and steak frites were very good as well as the special of the day, Wagu steak tartar. The desserts were special. We ordered the guava tiramisu and the key lime tres leches. We didn't think we could finish them, but we did. Highly recommended and can't wait to go back.

Came here for a weekend lunch and can't wait to go back again! We sat outside (party of 2) and staff were quick to come around and take our orders and bring things out. The indoor area does seem small from a glance but has charm. There is a wide selection of wines, and surprisingly of food too (considering I thought this place was more focused on wines). We got order of pan con tomate, whipped feta, and the ropa vieja with sweet potato fries. I will start with the ropa vieja plate as it was my favorite dish! The plate comes with a reasonable portion and I would definitely say it is shareable for 2-3 people. It was so flavorful and I liked that there was a good amount of protein and not just the fries. Everything came out to perfection and staff were attentive. Parking in this area is always a bit of hassle but overall 10/10!

We finally made it to The Grape Ape, and it did not disappoint. Great wine selection, thoughtfully curated, and the bites were beautifully crafted. Standouts for us were the croquetas, bao buns, and the tostones--each one delivered. Cozy ambiance, relaxed vibe, and genuinely pleasant service. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to.

I believe our waitresses name was Talia, wishing I could remember because she was amazing! Very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. We had the pan con tomate, tostones with tuna, and steak with fries (not pictured) all was amazing! The location is similar to a wine store where you pick your bottle from what seems to their endless assortment. We ended the night with a guava tiramisu, interesting but so delicious.

Tried coming here when they first opened but we didn't have a reservation so they couldn't seat us. Finally came again (with a reservation!) but had to sit outside, which ended up being very nice and quiet, so we were happy! Service was great and quick. Our server gave us great recommendations. We got the croquettes, Greek Caesar and gyoza as apps - all delicious. I got the steak frites and my husband got the chicken - we both loved our dishes. Will definitely be back (with more people so we can try more things!)

I was in the area and decided to come try the new spot, we liked it very much. They have a great wine selection; you can walk around and pick your bottle and bring to your table. However, there is a corkage fee even though you're buying their wine which I thought was weird. We tried the manchego cheese croquettes and the tuna tartar tostones, they were both delicious. We also decided to try their burger and it was really good as well. They sprinkle salt on the bun and I didn't love it as I felt my burger was salty, but other than that we had a good experience.

Went on a Friday night after a Pilates workout and this place is uber cute! We sat outside, the service was great and friendly. I ordered the rock shrimp fricassee, came with 3 pieces of toasted bread and it was delicious. Next time coming back to sit inside and have a bottle of wine!

This place is a gem! I came here with a friend and we spent almost 4 hours sitting and eating--we even had to move outdoors since we exhausted our table time limit eating and drinking. Think of this place as a restaurant meets a wine shop. The vibes are there, there service was great, and the bites were so tasty. Since it was my first time we decided to order a bunch of small plates to taste and share. For me the stars of the show were the croquetas and the pan con tomato (it has a different name on the menu). The croquetas come with this amazing dipping honey that creates the perfect bites of cheesy, salty, and sweet. The pan con tomato has this amazing drizzled sauce that makes it go from amazing to WOW! We also had the bar buns that come with this delicious meat and onion combo. So yummy! The key lime tres leech is a must if you are are a fan of key lime pie. The price is a bit high but totally worth it.

This is a great restaurant! The ambiance is very enjoyable and energetic! We had a reservation, and even though we had to wait for our table, we didn't mind, since we weren't in a hurry. Once we were seated, our server, Linda was fantastic! She brought our water, wine that we had chosen and drinks. We shared the marinated olives, the bao shredded beef buns, the Astoria salad, the bacon wrapped maduros, the manchego croquetas, the hand cut salchichón ibérico, and the lobster empanadas. All were tasty/ the empanadas were my least favorite. For entrees, we shared the chicken parmigiana and the cheese grilled sandwich- both were tasty. For dessert, we shared the key lime tres leches, the brownie with ice cream and the Maria cookie tiramisu. All were good. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant!

I absolutely loved my experience at The Grape Ape! Being a fan of The Eating House, I was already excited knowing the same chef was behind not just that spot, but also Luca Osteria. Expectations were high--and they were definitely met. I went in for an early, quiet solo dinner, and the moment I walked through the door, a smile lit up my face. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and the space instantly took me back--but with an elevated, fine-wine-dining twist. The ambience was a whole vibe--nostalgic, yet refined and effortlessly cool. There's even an arcade game! The food menu? Straight fire. It was hard for me to decide. I only ordered two dishes this time, but now I know: come hungry! The Greek Caesar salad was a perfect blend of crisp freshness and tangy punch. And the Bao Buns Vaca Frita? Just wow. Everything I imagined and more--the bold, savory Cuban flavors hit just right. Being a wine lover, the curated selection was exactly my kind of thing. I tried a Bordeaux blend of Merlot and Noir--beautifully balanced and delish! But the cherry on top was the incredible service, especially from the bartender who took care of me, (sorry I forgot to get your name). We talked food, flavor, and wine--and she even gave me a mini tutorial on Sakes! I've always liked Sake but never knew much about it, and now going to look into. Thank you to the whole team for such a peaceful, tasteful, and feel-good night. I'll definitely be back--and next time, I'm bringing an appetite.

Finally made it out to Grape Ape! Service was good and attentive. There is a $20 cork fee for each bottle you buy, feel like this needs to be adjusted but maybe they sell the bottles for cheaper (unsure). The appetizers were the best things we ate. My favorite was the pan tumaca and tuna tostones! The entrees are limited. The rock shrimp could benefit from rice as it's hard/messy to eat with just bread. The actual location is pretty and decorated modern. My concern is the tabling. Our group of 3 had a table in the middle and constantly had to move around to let servers pass by. The table is super small and barely fit all our wine glasses and plates. Not sure how'd they fix this but something should be done. Overall, it was a good experience

What an amazing addition to South Miami. Great concept with an incredible wine selection and great food. It feels like you're at a friend's house considering the warmness from the staff. As it was our first time we tried a variety of dishes and nothing disappointed. Musts are the manchego croquetas and the chocolate cake but everything was a hit. You can also purchase wine, you don't need to dine in. Will be back soon to try the rest of the dishes and enjoy excellent wine.

Visited for dinner on a Sunday evening. Overall great experience- 4.5 rounded up to a 5. I'd recommend reservations specifically for peak times. Service was very good except for waiting a while for the check. The food comes out pretty fast. Food wise the Manchego Croquets and Bao Buns were amazing. The Yucas Bravas had good flavor but needed more spice. Steak Frites were good and a plentiful portion. The Keylime Tres Leche was unique and tasty. Will definitely be back.

What a lovely surprise this place was. They have a nice variety of small plates to share with the table and a solid selection of large plates. Not to mention the extensive wine selection. Everything we ordered was amazing and everything that was recommended was amazing as well. The server was incredibly knowledgeable about the wines and the food items and suggested great choices. We will definitely return.

We made last minute reservations for a party of seven and outside was the only thing available. When we got there the rain clouds were looming, but we tried to sit outside, unfortunately, no coverage for the tables and it started to pour. They were kind enough to figure out a table for us inside and the staff was very accommodating. The service was really good and so were the tuna tostones. We loved our bottle of wine also. It's a cute place but intimate. Probably better for a date night. If you have a large group, book in advance.

Wow! Spectacular service with Sophie and her recommendations were on point ( wine and food). It was our first time at Grape Ape and it won't be the last. I'm pretty sure that my husband already made reservations for next weekend- so we can try some more of the delicious tapas. If you want a relaxing place that is very accommodating - this is it!

Service food and ambience were top notch. I hope this place grows and has events and happy hours. The burrata bread and cheese were sooo soo good. Honestly, with such a great olive oil, the salt on the bread isn't even necessary bin t it does provide a good bite. And have u tried the keylime tres leches?? No?? Well then u must. It's essentially tres leches but with a key lime pie-ish whipped cream flavoring. I ate the whole thing . It's a nice chill vibe with happy employees. I def recommend this place.

The Grape Ape is a new cute spot in South Miami. We needed a spot like this! This place took me back to Spain--where they have a bunch of little local spots with good quality bites and good wine. I tried the sangria and had several tapas. The sangria was delicious and all the tapas were soooo so good. I cannot wait to go back and try the entrees.

I came the second week after opening and the food is really good. The bottles they have on the wall are available to drink while you're dining but I think it's strange that there's a $20 cork fee, even though it's their own wine bottle, not one you're bringing. My favorite thing I ate was the octopus. Wine selection is very good and it's the hottest spot right now.

Great experience last night. We loved the tuna tataki, Gyoza's and chocolate dessert. The options for wine were seemingly endless and at various price points which was appreciated. A great addition to south miami.

The only negative was the seating options. The place is quite small... we had a reservation and still had to wait a while for a table.

Everything was amazing... the service, the food. It was crowded so we sat outside. Very enjoyable. Terrific menu. The owner came by our table. He was so gracious and made sure we were well taken care of. We will definitely be back.! Grateful to have this great spot in South Miami.

Please take my review with a grain of salt because I know this restaurant is VERY new and I do hope they eventually do well. We are part of the South Miami community and are actively loving the revamp of South Miami's restaurant/bar life. With that being said, we did not love our experience tonight. To start off with, even when you purchase your bottle of wine from the restaurant itself, you will still be charged a $20 corking fee on top of their slightly marked up bottles of wine. I have never seen this anywhere, did not appreciate it. The food was okay, not much to write home about, but not terrible at all either. Expected better for the price point. Seating is VERY tight. While I'm nowhere near a size 0, I was still very uncomfortable having to literally move my table away from the people seated next to us in order to go pick my wine bottle. The ambiance and decor are wonderful, lots of very cool pop culture nods hidden in plain sight. We loved the wall by graffiti artist AHolSniffsGlue. Very trendy. Very cool. Very Miami. Our server was okay. Could have been more knowledgeable about the wines and food menu. The hostess Chantal was incredibly friendly and she was probably the highlight of our dinner with her sweet disposition and polite welcoming when we arrived. We appreciate the efforts being made for a new location and will be back, hoping for a better outcome next time and will update this review at that time.

Finally, a great restaurant that hits all the marks in Miami. AMAZING!!!!! We recently had the pleasure of dining at The Grape Ape Wine Bar, and WOW what a find. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the gorgeous space. The restaurant has these stunning high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and floor-to-ceiling wine racks that give it this warm, cozy yet upscale feel. The lighting is soft and golden, perfect for settling in with a glass of wine and relaxing. The vibe got even better with live music. The singer had an incredible voice -- he sang a fun 80s playlist that had the whole place singing along. Seriously, the best restaurant vibe and food south Florida! A fun & nostalgic energy. The staff here might be the sweetest team ever. Super friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. They made the whole experience feel special. Now, onto the food...HOMEMADE EVRYTHING. NOT frozen Cisco food heated up. Everything we ordered was amazing. We started with the Manchego Cheese Croquetas -- crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and finished with a drizzle of truffle honey. We also had the tuna & tostones, which was fresh, citrusy, and just plain delicious. Croqueta Bao Buns-Hoisin Sauce with marinated cucumber, really ethereal. For mains, we shared the Steak Frites, which was juicy and rich omg, and the Burger -- topped with smoky bacon, sharp cheddar, and a French onion aioli that should honestly be bottled and sold. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The Chefs really know what they're doing. The wine selection is fantastic with really great prices. You can tell this place takes its wine seriously, in the best way. Whether you're looking for a fun night out with live music, a romantic dinner, or just somewhere to enjoy really great food and wine, The Grape Ape is the BEST!!!!!

After following the OG since Space days, I knew I had to come and support. My husband and I went on a Sunday right when they opened. It had not gotten full yet so the ambience was very chill. Loved the wine selection but not crazy about the corking fee (really hope they do away with that or at least bring down the price). Now for the food, man oh man. Was it delish. We ordered the Tuna Tartar (soooo good), Croqueta Bao Buns, Burrata w/ buttered Italian bread, and Steak Frites (chefs kiss). All in all, it was a good time and I'm looking forward to returning for my birthday dinner (make sure to make reservations). Shout out to Jason for suggesting some good grapes and making us feel welcomed.

The food and service were great. We had the tuna tostones and the manchego cheese croquetas with the honey truffle dipping sauce. We will definitely be back again!!

I've been to this place every weekend since they opened. Brought a date, brought my grandparents and even came back with some friends. The wine selection here top notch, not your average wine selection like most wine bars. The food is something to Rave about, whether you want tapas or a heftier dish like myself. The manchego croquettas with truffle honey are a "do not miss" item. The burrata with garlic bread is out of control, and the tuna con tostones are my top three tapas. As far as entrees, one of the best burgers in town, I believe they use a French dip sauce, wow! Dessert of course they have a hot chili ate brownie with vanilla ice cream and hot melted caramel, phenomenal. The price is fair, I spent 110 dollars last night with my date and we have a fair amount of tapas and wine. The staff is awesome, we were the last ones there last night and no one rushed us out, in fact they all stayed talking to us like if we were their friends. You can catch me at the Grape Ape any weekend, just make sure to make reservations, cause they do get busy!
