I've been following this black owned restaurant on social media for a while and their food looked oh so amazing so I decided to give it a try. I've been eyeing the seafood stack which came with a lobster tail and their fried peach cobbler. So my boyfriend and I decided to check the place out on a Sunday.
We drove almost an hour to a this place which is settled in a small shopping center on the corner next to a gas station. Parking is ok. We walked in around 5 ish and there was no line, just one person in front of us. Some of the food is already cooked and set up as a buffet style for the server to prepare your dish right away. I believe I saw oxtails, the stuffed fish, maybe pork chops, gumbo, and the sides.
The server was very friendly as well as the cashier and they answered all of our questions. We opted for the seafood stack but was told that they sold out of lobster so we got a filet of fish that was substituted. This stack came with greens, shrimp and fried fish over dirty rice. I also wanted to order the fried peach cobbler but was told they were sold out. Here's the thing with sold out items, if a business know that those items are popular why not make enough to meet the demand? We drove almost an hour to be told the items we drove there for were sold out. But I digress. Anyway, they had regular peach cobbler and it was the last one, so we got that. They had Snapple peach tea, raspberry tea and another tea. We got two teas, two seafood stacks and the last peach cobbler, the total was around $62.
It was hot inside, I felt sweat dripping down my back, so we waited in the car for our order. While waiting, we demolished the peach cobbler which was really really good. The food was ready in no time and we decided to eat our food inside before making our trip back across town.
The seafood stack looked amazing, but I must say it was reallyyyyyy salty. I didn't want to be that customer that complained but my boyfriend really wanted a refund due to the saltiness of the food. We ate some of our food and left.
The staff were very friendly, you can tell it's a popular spot as there was frequent traffic in and out. If I had to return I would try the oxtails next and pray that they have more fried peach cobbler but I doubt I take that ride again, for me, it wasn't worth it.
