Houston’s 14 Best Soul Food Restaurants | Eater Houston

"The brainchild of Max Bozeman II, the Greasy Spoon makes good on the young chef’s desire to elevate Southern cuisine. Leaning into the close relationship between Black food in Texas and Louisiana, the eatery places a sincere and loving focus on its incredible seafood options. The Cajun jambalaya pasta and blackened catfish Opelousas are not to be missed. For the non-seafood enthusiasts, go for herb-roasted chicken, smothered pork chops, and decadent sides like “souled out” black eyed peas, candied yams, southern-style greens, and sweet buttered corn." - Alexandria Jack

Ordered three dinners, oxtail, porkchop and catfish. The smoked oxtail dinner was well proportioned. The catfish was not, definitely not worth the price. You only get one porkchop with the dinner. Pork is the least priced cut of meat. This was my third time trying this place. I thought like the saying; "Third time the charm". Nope, we did not like the cabbage nor green beans at all they lacked in seasoning big time. The mac & cheese was decent. I paid $77 dollars, and none of us were satisfied. Also, on the website it shows we was suppose to receive corn bread with all meals while supplies last. We didn't get any and it was close to 2pm, they opened at 11a. So they must have had a huge crowd before I arrived. Don't think that I will be returning.

Google
The chicken was so good. The corn and yams were good as well. The peach cobbler was just ok. I would eat here again.

Google
Great restaurant serving delicious home style food. The portions were generous. The prices were quite reasonable. The food was absolutely delicious. As soon as I finished eating I was already thinking about when I could get more. I had the baked chicken with black-eyed peas and sweet potatoes. My husband had the smothered pork chops with same sides. We both really enjoyed our meals. I also appreciated the friendly service. Will absolutely be returning!

Google
This was my second trying this establishment. I actually appreciate the food this time. I like that nothing was overly seasoned like other Soul Food restaurants. I got the pork chop meal with rice , collard greens, and sweet potatoes. It was perfectly seasoned. Nothing was salty and the sweet potatoes were perfect. I was surprised that I didn’t get 2 pork chops though. All the other soul food restaurants give you 2 pork chops. Other than that, it was a pleasant visit. The staff didn’t have any enthusiasm though. I almost felt like I was bothering them when I went in to place my order.

Google
I was there on July 31, '25 a plate of oxtails and 2 sides was $34.00, wow. Then I ate them the greens and yams were very delicious. However, the star of the show, oxtails, were tough. For $34 I expect them to fall off the bone. Nope just tough. I won't be back.

When I tell y’all I’ll be back, I will most definitely be back. Food was amazing! A variety to choose from. I had their Cajun fried chicken wings (cook to order) with some yams, mac n cheese, greens, cornbread, and gumbo. Wings were cooked to perfection & juicy! Great bold flavors. The mac n cheese was a little too runny for my likings. Now my only complaint but won’t affect my rating was their gumbo. It was on the salty side. Lastly, they only had two kinds of drinks to sell which was Pepsi & Mountain Dew. Luckily you can get something next door at the gas station and bring it in. I didn’t wait too long for my food which was a plus knowing it was cook to order. Service was okay as in not rude nor super attentive. Otherwise everything was good. Also, cashless facility.

Google
Baby!!! Let me tell you. This place is not messing around. Their food was so delicious and filling and the portions are hearty and more than worth the price . You will not leave this place hungry or disappointed. In fact, you may not be able to leave after you fill up on nothing but soul food goodness and maybe a little something for your sweet tooth. Their peach cobbler is perfect. It has that nice pie crust topping and not the bread topping you find anywhere else. If you can make it here, come try it out. If not, look for their food truck or their Pearland location. Yum Yum Yum

Google
Never really complained bout the food cause every time i go i know im getting good seasoned food whether its made to order or from the line im never disappointed im not a big eater most days but here i know im finishing my plate i do question how my plate is 15 but when i check out its 17-18$ with tax thats probably my only concern

Yelp
Got the oxtails plate and the Cajun seafood shack platter for my gurl!! Straight Delicious!!

Yelp
I've been to the location several times and the service has gotten worse. Tall black African American male is not cordial and they never have cornbread which is part of the meal. Still expects tipping after not having good customer service, hot building and always have a homeless man standing out front.
google avatar

Yelp
The person working at the register had an attitude and they barely had half the menu on there. The food was aight. The mac and cheese tasted like cheese soup and the cabbage was too sweet. Im not gonna say some stuff wasn't good like the complementary cornbread and the catfish. Their food and service didn't match the price at all...
google avatar

Ivan R.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with the service and food quality. This supposed to be blackened fish and it has no flavor. We got one piece of fish and a bunch of white rice. My daughter had to pay extra for candied yams as a side order. The peach cobbler was just ok. $16 for one piece of fish white rice, some sauce, and dirty rice is a little over the top. We will make another choice for take out in the future.

Yelp
Omg worst experience!!!! First let's start with no air, the staff is rude and ghetto. I was trying to look at what they had and I see flys... I could not even order... my family tried but the lady was rude .... We just walked out .... They need to work on something... and the food did not look good either .... Just dry like it had been setting out.... Whoever own this place you are losing potential customers with your staff

Yelp
I was there today and will not be back! I tried this place a few years ago and decided to go back today. NOPE! Shame on you!

Yelp
This place has gone down hill fast, they came got the ppl in the hood money and move to a "better neighborhood" and cater to those locations. This Northside location is trash and the worker's attitudes go right with the carelessness of the food preparations. The menu is never available they are always out of something. I just drove 30mins to get here for smoked Oxtails and as soon as I walked in she stated we only have what's on the steam table. The worker's reply was oh we haven't had smoked oxtails in a minute. Y'all already never have the cornbread that comes with the meals.

Yvonne M.

Yelp
Today I ordered the cajan catfish meal. Look at what I received. The fish was HORRIBLE, it was tough and the crust fell off the fish. I'm not sure it's even catfish. It look like that frozen fish in Sam's. I keep trying to give them a chance but this was an epic FAIL. I know I'm going to get a lot of excuses, but I should have given the $23 to the homeless man that was standing outside.

Yelp
The Ambiance: I had a taste for comfort food after work on Friday and wanted to try after my husband recommended. I made it to the location right before they closed so options were slim; I'd advise to place your order ahead of time if you'll be in traffic or so forth. The restaurant was clean and I was able to order super quickly. My Order: Herb roasted chicken w/ rice and gravy, greens and yams: The food was very flavorful without having too much spice. The chicken was done perfectly; the gravy over the rice was really good (the herby flavor was chef's kisses) and I think the greens were my favorite. They weren't too salty or spicy, it was great enough for anyone with a different palate to enjoy. The yams were good as well, I'm just use to them being sweeter. The overall dish was great and it didn't leave me feeling icky or stuffed to the point where it feels uncomfortable or unhealthy. Service: The service was quick and cool. I don't have much of a review for this portion as I literally got there right before they closed. Payment: Payment is quick and easy. Overall I would love to come back and try more. I'd make sure I get there earlier or place my order earlier so that I can try some of the other dishes. I also like the food will fill you up without making you feel like I shouldn't have eaten that afterwards.

Yelp
I appreciate simplicity. Things that are good don't always have to be extravagant. This is food my me, my Grandmother & my children can all enjoy and no I don't have kids..... They probably have THE BEST Mac & cheese on the Northside ‍. If you happen to be one of those Boujee individuals that can't eat from restaurants connected to gas stations, keep driving . If you that shallow that's on you. Look, the prices are reasonable, the portions are respectful & the flavor is always major. Stop playing, and go test my credibility!!! PS they closed on Monday. Don't do it to yourself

Yelp
So glad we came here to eat! So good in fact we are taking our leftovers 6hrs back home to OKC. This place is located next to a gas station. There is a small area to dine in for about 15 ppl or so. It s cute decor. We were greeted enthusiastically when we walked through the door. The gentleman was polite as well as the cashier when we asked questions about how to order. There are items that are ready on the hot line. There are things that are cooked to order. You better have your butt in line by 6:53 so you can be sure to get your cooked to order in before 7pm! We made it by the skin of our teeth, by time we made it to the counter it was 7:01 but the gentleman said since we were in line by 7 we could still order. We all had to know what we wanted so he could quickly call it back to the cook before they shut the kitchen down. It must be pretty serious cuz a guy behind us was getting loud with the staff about them not letting him order cook to order all week for walking in at 7pm! I was like uh oh . I got Cajun fried chicken with Mac and cheese and yams. Mom got fried catfish and shrimp with greens. The meals came with cornbread. The chicken was fried hard like it should be and was crispy and delicious . I ordered 2 of these and requested all flats. The honored the request a best they could, so one plate was all flats, and the other was 2 flats and 3 drums , no big deal! The yams...bussin, the macaroni and cheese...bussin. The cornbread was soft and sweet. The shrimp was good! I didn't taste the greens or fried catfish;that was mom's order. I also ordered a jerk lamb chop al la cart. Since we got the right before they stopped with cook to order the grill was already off so I was refunded my $11 for that. We were given complementary dessert just because. We opted for peach cobbler and cheesecake. That cobbler was so freaking good! It had lots of crust like it like it, and it was just the right amount of sweet! The cheesecake was covered with strawberry topping. It was good. The cheesecake can stand alone with out the topping. Again the service and food was amazing. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Mac and cheese was amazing! The fried chicken was really good (a little bit on the salty side for me) but overall it was very tasty. The people there were very nice and helpful. Would definitely go again for the Mac and cheese. They also offer a lunch special now :)
google avatar

Yelp
Tried this place for lunch for the first time. The staff was nice and knowledgeable. They had several hot food items. A plate comes with your choice of meat two sides and cornbread for $17 and some change. The meat choices were baked chicken, bbq oxtails, oxtails with gravy, pork chops, and fish. They do have fried chicken but made upon ordering. Sides were yams, greens, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, and black eyed peas. Bottled drinks were around $2 or you can bring in outside drinks. There was a convenient store next door. I chose the baked with rice and gravy, a side of greens and black eyed peas and cornbread. Everything was seasoned well and not too salty. The greens and black eyed peas were my favorite. Limited seating as the place is a small establishment. The parking is also limited. I'd go back again.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The staff is so welcoming, friendly and attentive!! It gives like that southern old school type of hospitality but by young people! And let me talk about the food! It's finger licking good! Portions are great! Place it's nice and clean! I hope this type of business grows!! Thank you!

Yelp
This was my first time trying this place out and I have a love hate relationship with it so far. I'll start with the love. Flavor! The food was very good, fresh, and just all around delicious! I got the chicken, greens, boudin egg roll, and mac and cheese! My favorite was the egg roll but all of it was phenomenal! The service was ok, nothing special to sway my opinion either way. Now the bad. Soul food restaurants are notorious for being out of things, for whatever reason and this place is no different. But there's just some things I think you should always have, especially at 3pm on a Tuesday. Yams (this to me is a staple and should be OVERSTOCKED), crawfish egg rolls (no biggie), peach cobbler (again a staple), cream cake, and one other dessert was all out. If this was a Friday night at 6 pm I'd be understanding but man, middle of business hours on a Tuesday I don't know. But hey the food was very good, ambience and service was meh. Take it to go and you'll be happy! Ready to go back and hopefully they've got everything on the menu in stock

David C.

Yelp
the food is way overpriced six half wings fries and a small mac&cheese ,Total $23.00 doesn't make sense ,I try to support us ,but this the last time ,get me once ,not twice ,

Yelp
Yesterday I visited this place for the first time. Nobody hardly inside but I heard great things so let's give it a try....i ordered the jerk lamb chops and seafood stack. (They were out of lobster tails so this is what I was told I could get) The jerk chops were okay but too spicy to eat. I had mash potatoes and greens on the side....they were okay but the mash potatoes were a little too salty. Now let's get on this seafood stack....too salty to eat!!! Yes I know I keep saying salty because it literally tasted like I poured salt down my throat. The Fried fish and shrimp was fried in the most saltiest batter ever....i couldn't even enjoy this meal and after spending $70 I wish I had ate chikfila instead. The food was not good and judging from people walking in for good food and a vibe, but got turned away because they closed the kitchen down 15 minutes into me waiting for my food. I heard they use to have a live band but overheard them saying they didn't anymore. Well I wouldn't come back either if I knew I was gonna catch a heart attack from the amount of salty they put in the food. Customer service was okay but could be better. The girl at the counter who took my order seemed like she wasn't feeling well or she was ready to be off work. I can understand so I'll let that slide.

Yelp
This was my first time patron Inc this restaurant. For ease, I ordered online and picked up. My food was ready when I walked in and I didn't have to wait long. The environment was very hot and humid inside. Not sure if the A/C was out but the environment was not conducive for dining in. This is a cash free restaurant so you can only pay by card. If you don't order ahead feel free to walk in an order and choose form a wide variety of hot items. I ordered the oxtail which was flavorful and tender. Their garlic mash was . I highly recommend the peach cobbler too!!!
google avatar

Lance H.

Yelp
The greens are amazing! I usually don't like greens but I was needing something healthy. 10/10 they serve some of the best foods in the southern country food soul food world right here in town! Never far! Mastered recipes. There's always a line at lunch time!

Yelp
This is an easy five star review! If you are craving some amazing soul food this is your spot. Absolutely amazing! Top notch. Food: I went with the smothered pork chop and it was great. So much flavor and very tender. For the price I wish they would serve 2 instead of 1 but that's cool I guess. The mac and cheese was simply amazing. Also the mashed potatoes were excellent. This was a great meal. I am very happy I stopped in and gave them a try. Well worth it. The white rice and gravy was excellent. Also the corn bread was so tasty. The menu and steam table has quite the options. I will definitely go back and try their oxtails and a few more dishes. I am very happy with my overall experience. The customer service is really good too. I will definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Lupe M.

Yelp
If you're looking for great soul food, this is the spot! Service is great as the employees are happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations. I decided on the pork chop with Mac and cheese and greens. The pork chop is cooked perfectly and is super tender. The Mac and cheese was great. My favorite side is the greens! So much flavor packed into them.

Yelp
Growing up with just my white mother, I only experienced my Black side through food and it's wonderful to visit Black owned businesses

Boujee C.

Yelp
It's mid the greens I don't like the smell of the seasoning please switch it up and I had better yams from Luby's lol

Yelp
I've read good things about this soul food restaurant and visited about a week ago for lunch. When I arrived, I noticed it is next to a large gas station and convenience store and appeared to be fairly new. Inside there is one smallish dining room and you order at the counter where they have a steam table for most of the meals. I ordered their smothered pork chops, with mac n cheese and black eye peas. With a drink and tax it was a little over $18. The meal was very good with plenty of content. The chops and gravy sat on a bed of white rice and tasted very good. Ditto on the mac n cheese as it was cheesy and creamy. The black eye peas were ok but I thought they needed more broth around them for flavor. Finally the plate came with a good tasting piece of cornbread. I like the Greasy Spoon and would be happy to return for their soul food if in the area.
google avatar

Kristi H.

Yelp
They usually say dont believe the hype...well this time I'm telling you to please believe the hype!! Had brunch at greasy spoon and took some dinner to go..everything was GREAT and the customer service was AMAZING! Whewww that's a drive...but well worth it!! I will be patiently awaiting the new location to open! PS..my mama said the chitterlings were good too!!! PSS...No all this food is not mine!!! Lol!! PSSS...The cabbage is sweet..so if that's not your thang...dont get it :) PSSSSS....those yams tho!!
google avatar

Mounisha M.

Yelp
The food here was phenomenal. I am vegan and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to eat, but they were very accommodating the veggie sides were delicious. The ambiance was great good music playing in the background and the portions of the food was amazing. We are from California, so we would definitely return once we visit Houston.

Tara J.

Yelp
Their food is delicious and the servings are plenty!! The owner, Max is always there serving customers and taking orders and he is so kind! There is plenty of space to sit with friends and family. Really great place :)
google avatar

Yelp
The Greasy Spoon is one of the best soul food restaurants I've been to in Houston. The oxtails were in the top five of all time and the fried chicken wings were cooked perfectly. Crispy, seasoned, tender and golden brown. The employees were very attentive and helpful but my only concern is they're parking. Anyone who likes soul food would enjoy a meal here.

Dorcas L.

Yelp
The fried chicken was really good. Their space was small but always busy in the weekend. Hate they closed their Pearland location. The staff was always nice.

Bernice P.

Yelp
First time here and would come back if ever in town again! Food was delicious! I had the oxtails, collard greens and yams! My husband had the smothered pork chops, corn and mashed potatoes! Had enough to eat now and some for later! Got four stars only because it's small!
google avatar

Kija B.

Yelp
Great food and attentive staff! I recommend trying the jerk lamb chops and mash potatoes. Also had the smoked oxtails and they give you a healthy portion. Cute spot with an outdoor patio.

Yelp
Coming from Seattle where portions are small and everything just taste so bland . This place was a no brainer hopping off a the plane soon as we landed . The vibe is funkayyyy and great with a DJ outside on a Sunday . The restaurant is located next to a gas station but don't let that fool you . The food is GOOOOOD and reasonably priced . Except the oxtail lol That is like $30. Arm and a leg but hey if you love oxtail . You pay up . I had the smothered pork chops ... and two sides . But I'm a fatty and decided to get extra gumbo , peach cobbler and side of yams . And lorddddd was it worth it !! Peach cobbler was soooooooo yummyyyy!!! The Cashier suggested it and you know me , I can't say no to sweets ! Collard greens and Mac and cheese was so flavorful !! And the whole plate was only $14.95 ? Say whattt, in Seattle I only would get like ala carte and half the portion of what they gave me.

Jacky S.

Yelp
I ordered gumbo mac n cheese & candied yams. Both me & my boyfriend got food. For the most part everything was salty except for the yams. We were disappointed.

Frances W.

Yelp
The food is not what it' used to be and staff could use more customer service training. The girl that was serving made the statement, " what you looking at" while simply observing the dishes. This statement came without a Hello, How are you, just pure ghetto. I won't be back to this location.
google avatar

Ahlyssa C.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place for a while now. I did not enjoy the food at all and my husband said the lady in the front was rude. My husband ordered the oxtails ($30) with $3 added for dirty rice. I think that was overpriced, but they do give you a lot. He said he really liked the greens. I ordered the gumbo with 2 sides. The Mac n cheese was nothing special and I did NOT like the gumbo at all. It looked like a cup of shredded chicken with no broth. I'll insert a pic. I got cabbage, but instead of her asking me if I wanted a different side (because they ran out), she gave me double Mac and cheese. Horrible experience and I did not enjoy the food. Total of everything was $65.
google avatar

Janet H.

Yelp
I went to Greasy Spoon on September 3 upon check out they added $9.96 to my bill for tip without my consent and I noticed it after arriving home. The food was very salty. there was a customer in front of me that got in a huge altercation with one of the service. It was so scary.
google avatar

Darlissa S.

Yelp
Food and service was amazing. I read the reviews and had no complaints at all. Sometimes it's best just to try things for yourself.

Yelp
Okay, let's get into it! I've been wanting to try this spot and have been following them on social media for awhile. Unfortunately I didn't try the famous oxtails this go round. Location- I'm not going to hold you. I was a little taken back when I pulled up. This place is in the cut. The location is connected to a gas station and next to an apartment complex. The vibe was a bit off for me. There was an older gentleman that was the DJ posted up outside near the entrance with the music blasting. There were also some local D-boys posted up. Just an awkward vibe. There was no crowd but the Dj was actively hollering at every passersby. There were a few people eatting in the location and alot of pick ups. Service- upon coming into the establishment. I was greated promptly. There is a small dine in area. If you don't order ahead you can order from a line style set up. Similar to Chipotle you go down the line telling them what you want on your plate. The ladies were pleasant but about their buisness, which I can appreciate. They helped locate my pick up order. From what I could see the pickup orders are made in the back. Packing / products- packing was either plastic or styrofoam containers. Taste- Smothered Chopped Steak: NOT an actual steak, more meatloaf style, it was seasoned ground meat. It was served with rice and gravy. The meat itself was dry; it wasn't horrible, but I couldn't finish it. 1st Choice of Side The Ultimate Mac & Cheese: it's NOT baked mac and cheese, it's like made in a pot mac. I can appreciate it wasn't pure grease. It's like a lighter version of mac n cheese and you can see the seasoning. However, it was probably the least favorite item on my plate, but I finished it. 2nd Choice of Side Candied Yams: Baaaaby, I could smell them as soon as I opened the container!!! They taste just liked they smelled, great! They were cooked perfect, smelled good, and tasted great. My favorite item on my plate!!! Appetizer Boudin 2 Eggrolls: I really enjoyed theses. They tasted great and were presented and packaged well. Just yum!! Overall- The Candied Yams and the Boudin Eggrolls were my favorites and the only items I would try again. All in all, this location didn't live up to the hype for me. I think I will take a trip to the Pearland location and try the oxtails and/or the open turkey leg, with diffrent sides. Maybe the original location is better?!?
google avatar

La'Tara V.

Yelp
Another good filling meal for the books! Don't worry about the line, it moves pretty fast and you can expect tasty home cooking (for those of us far from home) I've been here several times and it does not disappoint. They have a DJ on the weekends to keep you pumped and there is adequate parking. You can eat inside,it's a bit tight for my taste, or you can of course just get it to go. The portion size is wonderful, I've never finished a dish in one sitting ( and I have a huge appetite). The fish, oxtail, chicken, greens and yams all get my seal of approval lol, the Mac n cheese is Mac n cheese and I am definitely am on team "No sugar" in the cabbage (at least that's what my mother taught me). Make the trip here, it's worth it. Did I mention the delicious sweet cornbread- just how I like it !
google avatar

Sage W.

Yelp
My favorite thing to eat from here are the oxtails! The plate is a nice portion and you will possibly have leftovers! The only downfall is that they only sell them on Thursdays because they have different items on the menu for different days. But overall, I love the food!
google avatar

Goldie O.

Yelp
Came on Easter Sunday for brunch. I drove almost 45 minutes to get here so I made sure to come right when they opened. The line was really long when I left so I'm glad I came as early as I did. I ordered the lamb chop and waffles and the Boudain egg rolls. I've had the egg rolls once before from a friend and while they were good it didn't hit like the first time I had them. I did however enjoy my lamb chops as they were well seasoned, very tender and a very reasonable price! I believe the owner just celebrates a year or service so congratulations to him and can't wait to come back because I Definitely will! Also my friends ordered the oxtails and grits and they absolutely loved it!

Robert H.

Yelp
Wow! This place is amazing! Great home cooked food! I enjoyed the fish over rice with mashed potatoes and their famous southern greens! And the cornbread is fresh and delicious! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about all the food! My friend had the smothered chopped steak over rice and it was amazing! They also had baked chicken and gumbo! If you have not eaten at this place, please do soon, you WILL NOT be disappointed! Thank you very much Greasy Spoon Restaurant for your service and hospitality and delicious food! I will definitely be there again soon!

Yelp
This was a GREAT first experience! We arrived at 11:15am, so the wait to order the food was essentially none existence. Everything here honestly looks soooo delicious! I saw the unique order of fried lobster, shrimp, and grits and it didn't sound like a good mixture, but BABBAYYY, them grits was savory and mouth watering GOODT. And that explanation is JUST for the grits WITHOUT the lobster and shrimp. Now, lol add the crunch of the lobster and flavors of the shrimp and that would be a great definition of um ummm GOOD! Our food came out in average time. It was a tad weird to me that complimentary water wasn't offered, but no big deal. Now, the location, for the quality of food, it doesn't quite match what I would see for this establishment. However,I would definitely make this drive again and have already recommended this to others.

Yelp
Yelp asking me if I liked the food here is an understatement. When I tell you I almost ate the packaging the food came in... Anyway, I had the herb-roasted chicken with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and the ultimate mac n cheese. The chicken was so tender that if I picked it up the meat just slid off the bone, at times it was so tender that I might have eaten a little bit of bone (lol) I'm exaggerating but you get my drift, they know how to roast chicken, my granny a be proud.. The garlic potato and the mac and cheese was divine as well, I like to mix my food soo it fulfilled its purpose. hahah the food was so good I forgot to take any pictures, and I doubt yall wanna see half a to go box. So that just means Ill be back.

Yelp
Well- this was a disappointing waste of money. I had catfish, Mac and greens. The greens seem to be out of a can- the Mac taste like it was out of a box- the fish was pretty good- the service was horrible.

Yelp
Okay honest review. First time here today. The menu looked amazing and I was 3 minutes away so I went! I ordered the smothered pork chops with three sides: Mac and cheese, yams and cabbage. Wow! The Mac and cheese is VISUALLY appealing but be WARNED- Kraft is better! This stuff left a bad taste in my mouth. The cabbage was completely bland with a taste of sugar for some reason. The yams, they get a pass. The smothered pork chops tasted no better than canned gravy and a TV dinner. I'm not even trying to be mean! I have no reason to be. I ordered the food to go and the service I experienced in those three minutes was fine. But shame on the food. And everybody in that kitchen was black..........................really? Y'all know good and well. THATS not what you're eating on a good Sunday evening at grand mama house, so why treat your place of business like this? WE WANT THE GOOD STUFF TOO!!!!!! Hello?!?!?! I won't be back unfortunately.
