A Delicious Spread Of Restaurant Deals At GastroMonth 2018

"At Rang Mahal, chef Milind Sovani presents traditional Indian flavours in a new light with his five-course dinner menu priced at $118++. Sovani’s creations are colourful and creative, but still uphold the integrity of the quality produce he uses and traditional North Indian flavours. For example, the Masala Rice Sushi looks like a Japanese maki but is made with Ambemohar, a sticky rice from Maharashtra in western India prized for its mango blossom scent, cooked with Madras curry powder and rolled with crispy vegetables. Masala Rice Sushi (Pic: Rang Mahal) For another dish, premium Irish duck breast is rubbed with a mix of fragrant spices including cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms and sankeshwari chilli, and roasted in the tandoor till the skin is crisp and golden-brown. Served with a creamy Trichur curry and broccoli garlic pesto, the Spiced Roast Duck (pictured in banner) is a shining example of contemporary Indian cuisine." - Rachel Tan

The hotel and rooms only look good in photos. The booking app offers a room with ensuite and decent amenities, but when we got there we got something that was more like a backpackers accomodation. The room was dirty, the pillows smelt, the door lock was broken, the room smelt of humidity, and the security was minimum. You could hear people coming and going through the corridor. The toilets were shared toilets and they were dirty. For the price that we paid which was over $1500, this is a ripoff. We paid for a hotel room and got a hostel room. The receptionist said that the mixup was website’s fault. They did nothing to help, but they did ask for $100 deposit for towels and for the control in the room. Then she added that if paid by card, it will take 3 mths to refund the money. We paid cash to avoid that. Then, we just checked out and booked a different hotel. Honestly, if I could give them no star, I would. My advise is DO NOT BOOK. The area is shabby and the people look shady.

I must say the room condition was very disappointing for both my partner and myself. The bedsheets and curtains had visible stains, the bathroom had mould around the shower area. I informed the front desk, but the issue was not resolved promptly. Overall, this was not the standard I expected, and I would not recommend staying here unless improvements are made. I would not return and cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience. 😠😓

I actually want to give this place a star they are at least worth one star. So the positives to earn the one star is: The two ladies on desk were nice and smiled while they spoke. The soap was free and smelled nice to wash body and hands. Also it had two complimentary water and towels folded nicely when I arrived, it's the cheapest on the market I could find (Its still expensive to me so I kinda wasn't expecting one star quality. So the negatives: I have tried to post as much photos along with my complaints to prove I am not just complaining for the sake of complaining. I had cockroaches in the bed (see picture). The room that you think your getting described as luxury room for two people is very misleading, when you see the photos advertised you think it's a room with private bathroom, well it's not it's shared sink, shower and toilet. The room is a box that perfectly fits a bedso you won't have room for luggage there must be some separate place that was not mentioned to me on arrival. Speaking of the bed it's got a natural dirty color so it hides the dirt very well, It smelled quite bad. There is some broken part of the entrance of room which any owner of hotel that cared would fix immediately. The Walls are dusty and overall dirty plus mold on ceiling, (see picture) also the door to the room doesn't lock so good luck attempting 20 times to lock the door. This advertised hotel (basically a hostel) is not fit for service and needs renovation or closure. Cheers

This place is honestly pretty good, considering the price is low compared to other hotels in Singapore. The pool is a big advantage, and although our room was a little old looking and worn out, it was clean and big enough for two people. The receptionists were also very friendly, and the laundry is free to use. I think that most of these bad reviews are probably from the hostel rooms, not individual rooms. Another plus was that the hotel was surprisingly quiet, we didn’t have any noise from surrounding bars or anything during the night, and the bed was comfy.

Our two day stay at here was awesome. It's conveniently located near a lot of great food places and convenient stores. The receptionist was so accommodating and sweet! Her name was Liza! She helped us with the washers and with extending our checkout time. She is also friendly with kids.

Plus side Very near MRT in rochor less than 10 minutes walking distance. There is no trash can in the room. The only available trash can is in the bathroom. By the way, the standard rooms have shared toilets. Also, the AC temperature cannot be adjusted

I love E.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The moment we walked in, the place felt dirty and uncomfortable. The common areas were so unhygienic that I didn’t even dare to sit down. We had to change rooms three times in one night. The first room smelled overwhelmingly of paint due to ongoing renovations. After switching rooms, the second room had pillows that smelled like someone hadn’t showered. I was recovering from an illness and desperately needed rest, but that was impossible. The noise level was unbearable. The street was already loud at 4 p.m., and at night it turned into chaos—blasting music, shouting, and people crowding the street as if it were their living room. It completely ruined our Christmas. The only redeeming point was the attentive male receptionist. Unfortunately, that alone couldn’t make up for the overall experience.

Had 4 night stay here during end of October 2025. Issues that I had faced: 1. Toilet is not clean. When I first checked in to the hotel, the first night of staying I have already noticed a curly long hair stuck to the bathroom door handle and it is just gross. During my 4 night stay, I had asked the hotel to do house keeping and it was never clean till the end when I checked out. 2. (Minor issue but can be improved) You'll need to spend extra effort to WhatsApp or inform the front desk to do housekeeping. Otherwise they would not do it automatically. 3. Speaking of housekeeping, I had requested for total of two times housekeeping during my stay there, and both of the time they had actually did some mistake. First, they threw my toothbrush that I had usually bring along together when I'm traveling. Second, simple thing such as replacing new water bottles can't even be done properly and I had to purposely tell them to send the water bottles to the room. 4. I had stayed at a balcony deluxe room and during night time (10-12am) it is filled with constant noise (people talking loudly, music blasting loudly) as the bars and pubs are all around that part of Little India. Do what you will with the above info. IMHO, the only benefit would be having a place to sleep for a night and location kinda close to a MRT and that's all. Personally, I would rather spend more or stay further away just to avoid staying in such hotel anymore.
