A Sports Bar Serving Cajun Fare Is Heading to Toyota Music Factory | Eater Dallas

"A Cajun-themed sports bar originating in Frisco, known for an extensive menu of po' boys, gumbo, oysters, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee, shrimp creole and other Cajun specialties. The Frisco location sits near Toyota Stadium and carries New Orleans-brewed Abita on draft and in bottles alongside roughly two dozen local and national beers, while the cocktail list highlights mules and tiki-style drinks. The concept is expanding to an Irving entertainment complex, where a new outpost will open across from the Alamo Drafthouse early next year and will also provide a spot for live music." - Alaena Hostetter

We went here on July 4th and enjoyed a live band at a place close to the center of the Frisco main street area where they shoot the fireworks. You can see the fireworks right outside this restaurant. As far as the food goes, it was very good with everything we ordered. A little salty for me. Could cut down a little bit. Maybe it's intentional so you can drink more beers. The atmosphere was lively with the band, which started playing around 9pm. We didn't have to wait to get a table. Parking was a nightmare on July 4th. We had to park two blocks away to dine here. We almost canceled our dining here because we circled around so long to find a parking spot and almost gave up. This is near a strip mall, and even those parking spots were taken. Just a heads up to come early, or if you don't mind walking while enjoying the whole night, then it's worth it to try this place. Highly recommended.

Order The fried seafood sampler for $19+ total disappointment, ordered the Gator platform for $18. Total shame. Express delivery and everything cold. From an 10 minute drive.

Google
Food was not it. My friends and I stopped by for lunch and we were disappointed. I got some crab cakes. There were no crabs in those crab cakes. It was all breading. If you dare to brave it, don’t order the bang bang shrimp either. I I do not recommend.

The Green Gator in Frisco is always a vibe! It’s a true sports bar, with TVs all around playing live games—perfect for sports lovers. On my most recent visit, I wanted something light and relaxing, and this spot delivered exactly that. I sat on the patio, and the breeze felt amazing—peaceful and exactly what I needed to clear my mind. I ordered the calamari, which was beautifully fried and so flavorful, and also had the chicken pasta, which was equally tasty. Great food and atmosphere all around. Now let’s talk about the staff—Hector was phenomenal, even though he’s a Cowboys fan (I’ll forgive him for that one day 😂). My waiter, Ryan, was prompt, kind, and accommodating, despite clearly being busy. He made sure I had everything I needed, so of course, I tipped him well! The hostess, Stacy, was also sweet and welcoming. Honestly, those genuine interactions meant the world to me, especially as I’ve been dealing with a new and overwhelming life change. This place is more than just a bar—it’s comforting, it’s friendly, and it’s fun, especially if you’re a Saints fan (most of the staff are, which I love). So come football season? You’ll definitely find me here. I even left a review from my other page because they’re just that good. Highly recommend!

Google
Firstly, the waiter Sean was amazing! I just know a Louisiana native is in the kitchen. The food was got dang good. The consistency of the sauce in the shrimp and chicken pasta was perfect. This was my first time in a long time eating a meal that fulfilling. I would recommend cutting back on the grease a little though. After it sat in the fridge for a few hours, the grease began to rise and seeped throughout. Otherwise, I HIGHLY recommend!

Google
The chicken and sausage was my favorite of all my choices. The shrimp was very good. They are bigger than I expected, and the cocktail sauce took it to the next level. The jambalaya was just ok.

Tim M.

Google
Ryan from Canada was our waiter. He was extremely friendly and attentive. Excellent service. Great Cajun food and IPAs on tap. A Hurricane at happy hour is half price and outstanding. The ice cream with the whiskey sauce was amazing – very unique.

Google
Bartender with man bun is the most delightful and loveliest person I’ve ever met! Very accommodating and will always go out of his way to change tvs to games for people so they can see their favorite teams. Professional and quick behind the bar as well. Waitstaff is great as well! Will definitely be back here again and again. I have been to this place multiple times and have been impressed with the food, drinks, and service every time!

Yelp
We stopped into the Green Gator because we wanted some cajun cuisine. Everything was simply amazing. It reminded me of New Orleans! I had the fried seafood platter & the crawfish half and half... it was soo good & a bit spicy. All the other food pictured is what my family had & they all enjoyed it. We highly recommend the crab fingers, blackened catfish, and the crawfish half & half. Also recommend the Hurricane drink! I would come back. Its spacious & they have lots of deals & live music!

Yelp
We came for Music Bingo on Tuesday at 7 pm and had a good time. It sounds like they play Rock N Roll music every week with a random category splashed into the mix (we had One Hit Wonders for two rounds). They provide the Bingo sheets and daubers. They have a progressive jackpot where you can win a few hundred dollars. Each winner of the round gets to be in the lottery drawing. One person is drawn at the end of the night. That person will pick one artist/band and if that artist/band is played within the first four songs of the shuffle, s/he wins the prize pool. That gives the person a 20% shot of winning (80 songs total in the list). Not bad as The Revel had a 1 out of a 1,000 chance of winning. For food, I tried the Alligator Combo (fried gator tails and fries) and was disappointed in the small portion of gators. The fries and sauce were good, though. The Bread Pudding was decent but nothing to rave about.

Yelp
Torn between 3 and 4 stars. Nothing here is amazing. Nothing is bad. Food is pretty good, but rarely great. Service is hit or miss. It's pretty clean, and they have some live music. I'd pass on the live crawfish. Feels a bit like a dive bar, but I mean that in the best way.
google avatar

Beryl D.

Yelp
Always a good time here. The service is always top notch and the food and drinks are always really good. I came here for a girls outing with my friend. For a good time and a wide assortment of food and live music and/ or sports, I highly recommend.

Yelp
My experience here was decent, it's a swanky spot. When I was here, they had a live DJ,, and the decor inside is nic,e, and it's easy to go. The cocktail is plentiful and interesting. I had the Bang Bang shrimp, fried oyster po boy, and the mango lemonade. The Bang Bang shrimp was delicious I liked the Bang Bang sauce flavor, because it was sweet with a kick. The shrimp was fried crispy and well cooked, however it was overly salty. The fried oyster po boy I are was very salty the oyster themselves was good and tasty but it was hard to get last the saltines, this could be just a one off and I hope it is but this is why it's just I can't review this place higher. The Mango Lemonade was delicious and tasty the drinks here are a go! Their service was good and attentive. I would come back in hopes that food isn't overly salty like it was when I came here, perhaps I would have to request no salt and add it myself .

Yelp
It's been a while since we've been to the Green gator, but we decided to pop in on a Saturday afternoon. With a Saints game on, the place was packed, but we were pleasantly surprised that the service wasn't slow despite the crowd. We started with the crab, stopped mushrooms in béchamel sauce, and wow - they were delicious! Creamy and flavorful, they were a great way to kick things off We had a craving for charbroiled oysters, so we went for a half order each of the black & bleu, and the regular char grilled. The black and bleu had a strong bacon flavor, which was nice, but they were left under the broiler just a bit too long. A little sauce would've taken them up a notch. The regular char, grilled oysters were good - cheesy, buttery, and perfect for dumping the soft bread in the buttery goodness. We left happy and full, but wished we had room to try the duvet or barbecue shrimp. Guess we'll have to save those for our next visit! Overall, it was a good experience and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Two words. PASTA MONICA! Great food, good drinks, good vibes. Appetizers are also delicious!
google avatar

Nanette R.

Yelp
The decor was wonderful and reminded me of New Orleans. We had a great waiter who was patient and welcoming. The food was ok. I had a shrimp salad and maybe because of the dim lighting I didn't realize it only had lettuce, cheese and well seasoned small shrimp. If it had tomatoes and eggs it would have been better. The bang bang shrimp should be name buffalo instead.
google avatar

Yelp
Found this place on a whim and was not disappointed! The food was so fresh and packed with that signature Cajun flavor. The service was excellent in every recommendation was tasty. I can't wait to go back again with my friends.

Yelp
Food has always been amazing! Now they have live local Bands and it got better! Live music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for brunch! Love this place and the vibe they have.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting, and I found this spot while searching for a place that served both good pasta and crab claws. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, the service was impressive. My server was quick and attentive. The food was excellent and hit the spot, so much that I didn't even need a to-go box because I finished everything except for a few pieces of bread lol (I ordered more, which isn't pictured). The ambiance was wonderful as well.

Judy L.

Yelp
Food was delicious. We got the shrimp pasta and the salmon. We ordered it take out We had 3 people ate two meals. So good! We will be back

Yelp
I knew when I waited as long as I did to be acknowledged at the door I should have left. Oh and the place was almost empty. I sat at the bar and waited again. Finally ordered my drink and a menu. Dropped off the drink and disappeared. Well drink was wrong so 2nd red flag. So I waited and waited to order dinner and it became apparent if you aren't a regular you don't matter. After waiting I looked at what my drink cost in the menu and left enough cash to cover it and left. Manager saw me leave and hostess saw me leave and not one asked why I was leaving so soon or how was everything.

Yelp
i just ordered a catfish poboy for delivery. The poboy was $18 plus $1 each for lettuce, tomato and mayo. over $21. I received a dry piece of french bread that looked like they scraped the condiments off. see picture.

Tinashe M.

Yelp
The food was way to salty. I hope not to have another experience like this next time.
google avatar

Lindsey D.

Yelp
The vibe is immaculate. Little dive bar vibe & they sometimes have live music. Unfortunately the food is mid and the staff is just completely unfriendly. It felt like I was a burden every time I talked to the bartender dude w long hair. My brother just turned 21 and we just wanted to hang and have a few drinks but this dude killed the vibe. Overall it was meh.

Yelp
This place is one of my favorites. The food is always fresh to order. The food taste the same EVERY-TIME! They don't miss. Especially durning brunch. Get a carafe for $12. The crab fingers are my favorite. Must try!! Thank me

Yelp
Greeted at the door. Hector was our waiter, he was friendly and attentive. The food was good. Great atmosphere, and we had a great time
google avatar

Justin R.

Yelp
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures. The food was packaged well and looked great but there was certainly something missing from the dishes I ordered "to-go" recently. The gator bites were a little soggy. The ettoufee was underwhelming and the gumbo left much to be desired. If you aren't from Louisiana, this place is a good start for trying to get your palate primed for Cajun and Creole food. It wasn't bad, I just believe there are much better options for the price point. Don't take my word for it. Give them a try!

Yelp
Shout out to the bartender at Green Gator last night, I wish I knew his name. He made our girls night one to remember. Their drinks are SUPER good. One will literally have you wanting more. We didn't order food since we had already ate and just wanted drinks. BUT....Their food looked yummy, so we will be back. Lovely service Green Gator!
google avatar

Yelp
We ate here for lunch and had a great experience! Chelsea was a very attentive waitress and gave exceptional service. Our food was very good! We tried the crab tamales for an appetizer and I had the Blackened red fish and my husband got the crab seafood boil. We would definitely go back here!

Yelp
So, I've had this restaurant saved for a lil while because my fellow yelpers frequent this location often. However, when my friends, husband, and I visited I was highly disappointed. The ambiance: this restaurant remind me of razoos, except more bar-like. The vibes here screamed bar bar bar. The country music playing in the background didnt help. Other than that there were some new Orleans or Cajun type paintings and decor, which was nice to see since this restaurant is considered a cajun one. The service: it took foooooooorever for a server to address us. Then it took a loooooooooooong time for us to receive water. Our server must have had too much on his plate because he completely forgot about us. I want to say it's because a couple of people in our party were trying to figure out what to order; but we continued to be ignored even after receiving our food. So, much so l, that I think the manager ( a random black lady who seemed to be checking on everyone) that night had to continue to talk to our server and help us instead. To top everything off, my friend's order was placed wrong. The food: the food was ehh. I got nachos because why not go to a cajun restaurant and order non-cajun food. They menu actually had a lot of non-cajun tasting items. In my opinion, there wasn't a lot of appetizing cajun options. Will I be back again...nah, I'll pass. Between the late night service and the food...I'm good.

Yelp
I'm new to the area and found this bar about a month ago. The bartender was rude and kind of dismissive, I don't remember his name but he had a man bun. I didn't bother coming back until last night because I had a long night at work and needed a drink so bad (I work in service industry myself). I was hoping that same bartender wasn't working and thankfully this red head named ALEX was bartending! Listen, she's cool as sh*t, so nice and a great conversationalist. She made me feel so welcome that I came back a 2nd night in a row! Because of her I'm definitely going to start coming in more often. PS. She remembered my name and what I drank!!! If that's not great customer service then I don't know what is!

Deb P.

Yelp
Always enjoy the staff and the food is yummy ! I would like to see them serve frozen Margaritas
google avatar

Brittnee H.

Yelp
Not sure why this place does not have a higher star rating on here bc our ambiance and eating experience was phenomenal. Open air with a live band on Friday night --- happy hour specials until 7pm and everything we tried was delicious. The fried gator pleased my gator loving men. The seafood gumbo was full of flavor and packed with seafood and the fried seafood platter I ordered with the oysters and catfish were perfection. The men ordered a delicious seafood cajun pasta monica packed with shrimp and seasoned to the gods !!!! Great little spot and plenty of activates right outside of the restaurants doors to explore after your Amazing meal. Definitely a must try spot when in Frisco.

Thomas Bennett P.

Yelp
Extremely slow service; sampler plate had something that tasted very bad.. like it was fish from a stagnant, heavily polluted farm pond; the hushpuppies literally had no seasoning (insides were nothing but undercooked cornbread); and they can't even get tartar sauce right -- very little taste because so watered down, so runny we at first thought they had to have given us runny ranch by mistake. Why don't they care to fix even the simplest of problems? The seafood gumbo was pretty good and the mashed potatoes were good. I rarely complain about restaurants but people need to be warned about this place.
google avatar

Omni M.

Yelp
Ordered on DoorDash the Redfish and dirty rice, asparagus with the bread pudding. The meal came hot and it was delicious. The fish was very flavorful, the dirty rice was as well and the asparagus were cooked perfectly with a nice crunch. The bread pudding is probably one of the best I have had. It's not too sweet and the whiskey sauce tops it off.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
A friend of mine has chosen this place twice for us to meet up for drinks. So I finally decided to try the food. I would say what I've tried so far was not bad. But it's really hard to compare true Cajun food when I travel to Nola often. Drinks are reasonably priced and service is decent. Haven't had any issues or bad experiences yet. I like that they have TouchTunes jukebox to play music and they had a DJ the other night and he was pretty solid.
google avatar

Janet H.

Yelp
Had another great experience at Green Gator! It never disappoints! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is awesome! The fried green tomatoes so delicious! even at breakfast! The shrimp and grits was to die for!! And that biscuits! you Justus what he's talking have to try one! Light and fluffy! I'm anxious to try dinner there, my son said their red fish is delicious! Delicious mimosa and Bloody Mary's too! Service is excellent, we always have a great waiter! He's very friendly and accommodating, very knowledgeable about the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! The food is amazing, well prepared and seasoned to excite your taste buds!. The service is commendable. Our waitress, Lauren was the epitome of great customer service and Jackson was polite, friendly, and customer centric! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Justin H.

Yelp
This place has horrible management. I ordered food to be delivered and paid $90. We did not get part of our order so we called and the manager was very rude about the whole situation and ended up hanging up on me. I called back and asked for her name and she said i already told you once and im not telling you again and hung up on me again. So they are just stealing my money for food i never received This is the first and last time we will order from there. They have lost several customers who will never go there again.
google avatar

Benjina D.

Yelp
I've been here a few times now, and I love the consistency of the food and service. I've never had a bad meal, and it's always a good time. Drinks are great as well, and can be NOLA strong! The bread pudding is outstanding, and easily the best in this area. Great vibe, and good music on most days.
google avatar

Ray F.

Yelp
Met some out of town friends at this establishment. We camped out for a few hours and the staff treated us quite well despite taking a big table for that long. As we didn't see a crowd or any groups that might need that spot, we stayed. I should add we gave a huge tip to offset. The service to us was spectacular and multiple people took care of us. The appetizer platter of multiple fried items was delicious! The Cajun fries were also quite good. I later had a Catfish Po'Boy that was really good and even better with the dill tarter sauce! That sauce was addicting. This venue is a large sports bar with multiple video screens showing multiple sporting events. There is a large covered patio and plenty of nearby parking.

Stacey P.

Yelp
Yesterday was my first and last time coming here. I and my spouse ordered 3lb of crawfish each it was overly cooked the corn was disgusting as well. My sister in law ordered a burger when she lift it up grease was pouring down. after 20 minutes she was expressing bad stomach pain. On top of that our server was busy talking to her co worker waited 7 minutes for a refill. Then the environment was okay besides a guy employee was complaining about cleaning tables while the other employees were folding the utensils right behind us going back and forth with each other overall our bill was $104. What a waste of money DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

Ali Ç.

Yelp
If you go, your money will be wasted. They made us wait for an hour for a meal order for two, presentation: Zero, service: zero. I don't recommend it to anyone. Don't go.

L S.

Yelp
It's all good. Food staff owner All of it is good Service is good Everyone is friendly and welcoming great neighborhood bar
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Had a great meal, blackened redfish is always a winner. Bread pudding can't be beat. Hannah our server helped us navigate happy hour and the menu to ensure good choices. GG has a very local vibe with lots of regulars and friendly banter. I'm frequently there on GaMeDaY, glad I stopped in during the offseason!

Therral L.

Yelp
We had a great time at the Green Gator. The ambiance made me think of New Orleans my home. There was tons of memorabilia there although it didn't feel authentic it had enough New Orleans stuff in it to make me think about home. The menu items screamed im trying but not that hard to serve authentic dishes. I got the soft shell crab poboy because soft shell crab is seasonal and will be fresh when you order it. Plus that's one of my favorite things to eat. It was a good poboy I must say. The dishes my wife and friends ordered however were not as good according to them.

Yelp
Great Live Music on the Weekends. They switch it up every weekend and the Bands are really talented. Keep it up Gator. Came for the food stayed for the music. We are going back this weekend.
google avatar

Kibui B.

Yelp
Dropped in after the FC Dallas game last night. We were seated right away and they had the NFL games and baseball on. So, this is a bar/restaurant that specializes in Cajun food, so I went straight for the Crawfish Etouféé, my friends ordered burgers and a couple Philly cheesesteak. Pints were nice and cold, service was brisk with a smile! This is a good spot to enjoy watching game, while having a drink and some food. The etouféé was above average, crawfish were tasty, but the roux hadn't "cooked" enough for that full taste; it was also a little runny. If it had sat for a bit more and been thicker I would have given it a 4....and at $17 6you really should have some toasted garlic bread. I sampled the fries which were really. Mates said the Philly was really good...and buyer was ok. Definitely go back for drinks, may/May not eat next time

Lynn S.

Yelp
I love everything about this place. We moved here a little over a month ago and this has become our regular place. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and even great patrons!

James ..

Yelp
The Shrimp/Corn Chowder and Gumbo was "Outstanding!" However the Crabcakes were hard as Hockey pucks.
google avatar

Breonna B.

Yelp
i've been here 3 times in about 3-4 years.. the food was not very good at all. the worst part though- the service. i always feel uncomfortable when the server acts like they're mad that they even work there.
google avatar

Cory G.

Yelp
I loved this place! I went last week for Happy Hour with some friends and got the shrimp half and half, it was one of the most flavorful shrimp I've ever had! I can't wait to return! The service was fast, and the crowd was awesome!
google avatar

William W.

Yelp
Service good, food is good, nice-chill hangout spot with friends. This is my 3rd time and will be back
google avatar

Earl G.

Yelp
The food establishment was great. The atmosphere was good for our family. The waitress was on point with her service. We could enjoy laughter among ourselves and watch TV while doing so. The food was great. I had the seafood meal. It was delicious. That was a little pricey but well worth it. Others could be heard throughout the restaurant laughing and having a good time. I definitely visit there again. Mastergee from Arkansas
google avatar

Antanette C.

Yelp
I order food online and was given three side item choices which I chose but when It was time for it to be delivered I was only given one item I asked why they stated that online was wrong and I was only charged for one side and they would not be giving me the other two options "for free" even though those items were given as free sides online they would not honor it. none of this has anything to do with me or what I thought I was ordering and think that is very unprofessional and rude of them this was my first and last time ordering for these unorganized unprofessional bozos never again not to mention the food tasted horrible like a 3 year old cooked it
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere of this bar. It's dark and industrial looking but, comfortable. The food is absolutely delicious! Pasta Monica is my favorite. Prices are good and in line with seafood. My only complaint is the freshness of their beer. I've tried several types of both draft and bottled. Almost all are skunky/outdated taste. They need to clean the draft beer lines! Also, beers need to be frosty cold. These are cool at most. The staff is very pleasant and attentive. I will come back but, probably order a regular drink and save beer time for another place.
google avatar

Meg B.

Yelp
My wife and me visited on 22 Sept 2023. We ordered the Calamari, the Monica's Pasta -Shrimp and the Blackened Redfish. Food quality was average. All the dishes had excessive salt Service was very slow We don't plan on going there again.
