The Green Park

This park is big, green and peaceful. Even on a busy weekend, it was not overcrowded with various spots to relax. There are many sights to see within a very close distance. You hardly feel like you're in the middle of busy London!

A beautiful park very close to Buckingham Palace. We actually enjoyed visit of this park much more than Buckingham Palace itself. :) It is quite big, so it does not feel too crowded and there are many animals to see including squirrels, geese and ducks.

What a great experience and an amazing way to rest after you walked across London. I loved the park and its beautiful scenery, there are lots of things to explore in that area, from trees, birds watching etc... Not far from Buckingham palace, the park lays in its beauty, i sat under a tree, and the mistake I have made is not to bring a book to read. I really enjoyed it and recommend the park.

Was here during and after Changing of the Guards ceremony. Very crowded, railed, and lots of police officers, difficult to move about. Better the ceremony but lots of horse apples left behind. The park is not very well maintained ie. parts of grass missing or dying. The park is near Buckingham Palace, Victoria Memorial and the Canada Memorial. Generally, lots of people, bikes, cars and carriages travel through this park.

The park was lovely. It was nice walking through it. I captured the video and photo once I had got to the other side there was a vast collection of paintings by various artists displayed which were for sale. The guy has been collecting and selling them for years. Defo worth a visit and look. He is there every weekend.

Just love that park! It's really huge. People could run, go jogging or take a stroll along the park. It is next to Buckingham palace. Apart from that people can seat and relaxing or they can play or feed small friends, called squirrels. These are so cute.

The Trekking Pawns here! On a sunny warm day, the place is full of sun bathers and picnics! It’s great to see people enjoying the sun and grass in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. @thetrekkingpawns

We hung around here for a while after the Buckingham palace visit and on the way back to the Marble Arch area. It's beutiful, has a lot of shade and nice walking/running trails. There were some interesting sights to see including a beautiful water display for a Canadian monument thanking them for their contributions to the wars. There were a lot of families and groups hanging out which was nice to see. Also interesting to see was how many couples were here and having a romantic moment. Lot of snogging going to use British parlance. ;-)

This park is such a great spot for taking a stroll. You can easily find it after visiting Buckingham Palace. They have several different paths to choose from and benches to take a seat in case you need a rest. Being there in September, it was so fun to watch the leaves start to fall on the ground. Several great photo opportunities. Most of the park felt pretty level, no major inclines or declines. You can also use these paths to get to another spot in the city, as there are several entrances and exits.

There was really nothing to see here. I was quite disappointed. There is a coffee stall here so we got coffee and took a short stroll. It's next to Buckingham palace so if your already there, you can come and check it out. However I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come.

This park is absolutely beautiful and conveniently located between 2 nearby tube stations so it is well connected. A lovely park for walking the dog or just a blissful stroll. Although I was rather alarmed with the "rent a chair" system. I'm familiar with this approach in London parks although the prices were a tad unnecessary as it is only a chair. Apart from that the park was absolutely splendid and in a great location beside Buckingham palace and major shopping streets. I definitely recommend. Lilly Allen Approves

I would highly suggest finding a bike tour that takes you to all the main spots. It's a great way to see the sights, get a workout in and do it with a local that knows the details! Green Park--one of the Royal Parks--is 57 acres of pure beauty that doesn't get the attention it deserves. Well, first of all, it's tucked in between the world-renowned Hyde Park and St. James (with its proximity to Westminster and the Thames). And, on top of that, Green Park is tucked right up against Buckingham Palace Gardens. Greenery. Everywhere. Definitely, London visitors should take a stroll through Green Park ... or if you want to get all Ohio State about it, officially THE Green Park. It dates back to the 16th Century. That isn't a typo ... THE 1500s! First and foremost, The Green Park is just gorgeous. The walkways are LINED with mature plane trees. And bring your Coronas and/or margarita mix because there are plenty of Tilla ... also known as lime trees. I also saw a smattering of poplars, maples, oaks and hawthorns. And summer brings some great flowers: daffodils (narcissus), along with the flowers of many colors at the Memorial Gardens at the Canada Gate. The word "only" is often attached to The Green Park, but Canadians don't think so: One of the must-sees at the Park is the red granite, covered-with-bronze-maple-leaves Canada Memorial, a fitting tribute to those who died in the two World Wars. The RAF Bomber Command Memorial is a gigantic, covered memorial with a group of WWII bomber command aircrew in crisp, shimmery bronze. Then there's the Diana Fountain ... or as I like to call it, the "Not That Diana Fountain." While Hyde Park boasts a memorial fountain to Princes Diana, this fountain has been around since the 1950s and boasts a sculpture of the Roman goddess of hunting. Packed with history, you can learn a lot at The Green Park ... or enjoy all that beauty!

If you need a respite from the intensity of London, this 40-acre greenspace is a great escape in the middle of the city. It's a rare park in London without any water features, which is why I can't give it 5 stars. But if you're near Buckingham Palace, it's worth stepping into. The area is easily accessible using the aptly named Green Park metro station, and the park is punctuated by the beautiful Victoria Memorial. You'll also have a splendid view of the Mall, perhaps the most spectacular road in the United Kingdom.

What a beautiful park! My husband and I really enjoyed our time walking through this beautiful old park while seeing London. We were told by one of the local guides that this park is all green with no flowers or anything because one of the reigning monarch's wives got angry when her husband (the king) had a pretty mistress so they had all the flowers removed from the park and made sure it was only green - which is how it came to be known as "Green park". Hopefully I didn't mess that up.... The old ancient trees planted in this park which line the street are gorgeous! This was my first visit to London and I was very surprised by how lush and green it is - filled with flower boxes and trees. This park adds to the charm of the city.

We had one day to spend in London. My dad and I got off at the Green Park stop and wanted to see Buckingham Palace. We asked someone and they said to walk through the park. It was an 80 degree sunny day in London! So many people were out and about here. The lawn chairs are nice, but you have to pay to use them. We walked through the park and got to Buckingham Palace. The trees are tall and plenty. There aren't that many green spots in London. This is a nice park, but it should have had more gardens and plants! We snapped photos and saw the Canadian memorial. Nice place to stroll through around Buckingham Palace. Not pretentious.

A beautiful park. A bit unusual in not having any formal flower beds but it still has plenty of color. The official Royal Parks website says: "Rumour has it, back in the seventeenth century King Charles II's wife demanded all the flowers be removed from The Green Park after she caught him picking flowers there for another woman." It stands next to Buckingham Palace and is also a convenient short cut to walk from Mayfair to Westminster should one be inclined to do so. Interesting features include the Constance Fund Fountain, which is not only a piece of sculpture but also a working drinking fountain. Of course, there are also plenty of mature trees and large expanses of grass. There is one pond in the center and numerous walking paths that crisscross the park. It's not the largest of the Royal Parks but is certainly a pleasant spot.

Green Park is a massive open space of trees and grass, exactly what we need in a city of steel and glass and stone. Sunny and free on a clear day, I wouldn't recommend wandering through it at night. 47 acres (thanks, Wikipedia) without any lakes or buildings, it's just a park. That's green. Wow, they certainly aren't hiding anything with the name!. Captain Obvious here, but the park is easily accessed from Green Park and Hyde Park Corner tube stations or a short walk from Knightsbridge. If you're looking to put your feet in the grass and enjoy a nice lunch, here's your spot!

If it's your first time in London, go to Green Park and St. James Park first because Hyde Park and Kensington are A LOT nicer! Green Park is well... just green and small. I found nothing significant at this park. If you don't have a lot of time, you won't miss much if you don't see it. Spend more of your time at Hyde and Kensington! :)

On a recent trip to London, I was lucky enough to be staying in a hotel virtually opposite Green Park, The Hilton which meant I was rather close to this place, hence Buckingham Palace, but they is more to Green Park than just being residence to Buckingham Palace and the Monarch, and a rather nice Underground Station. It's a park so in my opinion they isn't much you can say, but this really is a nice park, and definitely a must to visit while in London, alongside Buckingham Palace, which can get rather busy even in the evenings. Here, is more of a quieter, relaxed atmosphere, they is picnics going on, and not a lot of young children too (Sorry - That's a bonus for me!) They is a Canadian Memorial here, to commemorate the 113,663 Canadian Forces killed in the first and second world wars, which is a a very nice memorial and a way to remember the Canadian soldiers, and the memorial its-self is quite a nice one, designed by Pierre Granche and unveiled in 1994. I'm not a big fan of parks, and I certainly wouldn't spend time in one, but as far as parks go, this is a nice one, and has become a tourist attraction in London, but it still isn't noisy, and packed, it has a more relaxing atmosphere especially in the evenings, so I'm glad to finally get round to reviewing Green Park and giving a solid 3 stars.

Large green expanse on the doorstep of buckingham palace. Although it gets busy, it still feels like a reasonable escape from the hustle, bustle and traffic (unless on a super sunny weekend), but even at it's fullest periods, people seem to respect the picnic radius. There are benches, which are of course free, and deck chairs, at a small cost, I believe 50p, but I'm definitely a blanket girl. Take a picnic, maybe a couple of beers and get your feet in the grass, you can pretend the air is fresh for a little while!

This is a great park to have a picnic! Grab lunch at M&S or ice cream in the park gates and take a stroll. Pick a blossoming tree to lay under or grab a lounge chair for £3 and bath in the sun beside the tulips! This is not a park for statues and fountains but to relax and appreciate that you are in London!

I wonder if they had run out of inspiration when they named Green Park! It's one of the more well known park in London for tourists as many will get off at Green Park Underground station and take the short 10-15 minute stroll through the park to Buckingham Palace. It's actually thanks to the royals that London has so much greenery. They wanted to be able to hunt in the capital and maintained large areas of parkland to be able to do so, the legacy of which are our beautiful parks in the middle of the city. Mind you, Green Park isn't so pretty at the moment as there's a lot of building work going towards improving Green Park Underground Station, hence the ugle fencing and piles of building materials, I just hope that they've timed tings write to be able to show off our capital to the world when the Olympics arrive later this year. Because of the Palace nearby, the Northwest edge is teaming with visitors. As you cur across diagonally it gives way to commuters getting off work, joggers, and all sorts of other types. Things are a bit spread out but there are cool monuments here and there. What I didnt like? A large amount of horse shit and mud along the walking trails. Otherwise it's beautiful!

My favourite park in London has to be Green Park. During the summer I was in the park on every single sunny day! I would spread out my blanket and read a book. Now that it's colder I spend a lot of time walking through the park and just enjoying the green space. I love that the park is so centrally located and it's easy to walk through the entire park and not feel tired at the end. Not to mention because it's so close to Piccadilly there are lots of shops and restaurants so you can grab a bit on your way to the park. There has been many a day when my boyfriend and I meet in the park and he shows up with a few cappuccinos from the Pret across the street. The only thing that annoys me about Green Park are the people. You can go and set up your blanket and a few hours later some stupid guys will start a rugby game or football game and before you know it, people are running all around you. I know they are hoping that I'll move, but I just dig in my heels, turn up my I-pod and ignore them. After awhile, the jerks move on to a part of the park where no one is sitting, which they should have done in the first place!

Green Park is one of the Royal Parks of London is serviced by Hyde Park corner and it's own tube station. The park itself is comparatively small, and made up of treelined lawns. As Katie A mentioned it is not the most of exciting of parks; any fun had will be self made. Still that's not an indictment of the place which is certainly handsome and gives rather stunning views of the palace. A lovely place to sit in read in the summer.

Most.beautiful.park.ever. Aside from the fact that they really think I'm paying them to sit in the lawn chairs when there are benches working just fine left me in a stupor. I don't care if it's 50 pence I ain't paying you jack. To think I almost agreed to it. London does that same rip off, nickel and dime crap that NYC does. Please. Anyway I lounged for an hour then walked through to the area near the little pond and wild life. Then walked all the way to Embankment to see The Eye. It was the best most beautiful day I had in London. One out of the two/three beautiful days, weather wise, I had there. I'm so envious of the parks that you guys have. Please enjoy them daily. Especially for those who can't.

Green Park is located in Central London and is the smallest of the eight Royal Parks. It is a great place to spend time with family and friends chilling on the grass having a picnic or just getting away from the bustle of the big city. Green Park does not have a lake or playgrounds. Walked through here to get to Buckingham Palace and glad we did! Such a fun and pretty park! Everyone was playing and having a great time. There are even chairs to rent to lounge out!

Make it part of your visit to Buckingham Palace. Sitting on lawn chairs here cost money, but it's a nice green space from the upscale streets around it.

What a nice park. Only saw part of it but for what I saw looked clean and pretty. I love the many oak trees that are in the park. There is even a area where there is deck chairs (at a cost). There is also a nice statue of a man and dog at this park. You can also see a nice view of Buckingham Palace from this park.

I'm finding it hilarious that in a city starving for green space, Green Park has yet to receive 5-stars, but instead is considered sub par due to its lack of interesting stuff to look at. Hmm... As for me -- these are the parks I long for. I don't need fountains and flower gardens, I don't need sculptures and remarkable architectural design to ogle, I just want long patches of open grass where I can run around with my frisbee, football and picnic blanket, and not feel like I'm trespassing on an art exhibit, or tripping over an historic memorial of some sort. For space and scope, Regent's Park definitely has Green Park beat -- but for smack bang central London, Green Park is a gem.

Perhaps it's true that the park is rather plain, but it's worth seeing the lovely Canadian War Memorial, with its flowing water, triangular design, and maple-leaf reliefs. It's a beautiful, fascinating piece of memorial architecture. I would have preferred to see it without a half-dozen children treating it as a playground, but then again, maybe the Canadians whom it is intended to commemorate wouldn't mind it that way.

Green Park is one of the most beautiful and best located (between Piccadilly and Buckingham Palace) parks in London! It's great that London does have lot's of greenery (thanks to Royal Family) and you don't really need different fascinating sculptures all over, fountains or ponds - just a huge territory where you can break away from the hustle and bustle and just relax.

Green Park definitely lives up to its name! It's literally all green and just green! The park is a field of green grasses with lots of trees! Green Park is humongous too! There are chairs and seats for people to sit, but they are rented out by the hour. I saw many people sitting on blankets and drinking wine and snacking on finger sandwiches! I loved it! People were so chill and relaxed there. Because you're very close to unrefined nature, it really allows you to enjoy the moment. On the outskirt of the park, there's a Canadian Memorial, which was interesting to learn about some history. Right outside a corner of the park is the Buckingham Palace. And on the other side of the park is by the animated Piccadilly street. Additionally, biking is not allowed in the park, only around the park, which creates a very safe and fun environment. This place would be so gorgeous in the autumn when all the leaves turn different colors!

This is one of my favorite parks. I love to go there with friends and hang out when the weather is nice. It`s full of people all the time so even if you go alone you can find a company to enjoy the day. A good idea is to rent a bike as well and to ride inside the park. It`s really fun.

It's amazing that London has so many parks in prime locations. Green park in the heart of the Mayfair, the backyard of Buckingham Palace and right next to the Ritz. It's just a wide space, perfect to throw a frisbee, get away from the crowds or join one to view the wedding. I'm glad i viewed the wedding from here. It seemed less crowded than Hyde Park and I'll remember that for when it's Harry's turn. ;-)

Oh Green Park, how much of a life saver you are, A Sanctuary for the weary at lunch, A piece of grass to lay and rest. You ain't the prettiest or fun filled. But you fulfilled your destiny, Just by being there for those who need a break from their dreary work. With M&S, Pret, Eat and homemade sandwiches so close, There is nothing I want more Than for summer to come and return me to your open arms. PS if you are reading this work, this is just a poem and in no way reflect how I really feel about you. PPS TFL, please explain exactly what the heck you are doing to green park station. Does it actually need to be the SIZE of the park itself?

Takes forever to get between some lines but who doesn't love the underground especially after your feet are killing you after a day of tourist delights at the palace or after getting your dance on.

OK so this place just looked very inviting. A place to sit along a park bench under a large tree. There to read, eat or sprawl out on the grass. It's just across from Buckingham Palace. Yet, at about 4am and having to cut through the park to get back to our hotel. No cutting through the palace gardens as a short cut. OK 4am and the image of the path one can picture it in a dense fog. Those memories of all those stories come rushing to the surface. Heck I am sure it's been used as such in a movie. It was enough that my friend has some trepidation about the short walk though. It's not really foreboding

There's so much green you can easily forget that you're in a big city like London. A wonderful place for a stroll in the sunshine. In the spring the flowering trees are absolutely marvelous, as are the daffodils. Less famous than its park neighbours Hyde and St James but every bit as lovely.

#Yelp #Yelp365 30 - What can I say - my profile picture (at the moment) was taken at Green Park. In the spring time it is amazing, with bright sun glaring throughout the park. The flowers in bloom in spring add a sense of vibrancy to the colors you see, green with yellows, red, oranges and purples. At any time, you can hop off the path and relax on the cool grass, take in some sun, and read for a bit. Enjoy people watching while reading, leaning next to a tree. The park is easily located to most of the major areas of the city, and I don' think I would stroll after hours.

Summary based on many visits: --nicely laid out --good access. When I stay in the area, usually north on Half Moon Street, I try to spend some down time in Green Park, which is a great place to escape the craziness of Piccadilly.

Maaaaaan this park is under rated. It's so lovely here. Whether you're walking the nice way to Buckingham Palace (and I suggest you do), or just coming here for a bit of green with your lunch, it's stunning here. And frankly, much nicer and calmer than it's Hdye Park neighbour. Green Park is heaps cooler. Not least because of the funky deck chairs and handsome city boys playing cricket.

Every time I walk through the lush calm of Green Park I exclaim to myself - it's so green, wow! I really think it's more green than other parks, possibly because the lovely trees make a sort of canopy to walk underneath and when the sun shines through it the effect is even stronger. There had to be a reason they named it thatright? Green Park is remarkably lovely for somewhere so close to busy London stuff and pretty much manages to maintain its serenity even when filled with local workers at lunchtimes. The deckchairs are a nice visual touch but you have to pay to use them, so don't forget your picnic blanket!

To the north side of Buckingham Palace Green Park is not just a thoroughfare from the tube for the tourists. Although very different from St James' Park (that is located on the east side of the palace) it has its own individual charm. Green Park is very aptly names as it is huge rolling lawns with large old oaks planted at regular intervals. It is always overwhelmingly green and beckoning. Perfect for picnics and ball games, Green Park is lovely and cool throughout summer as the huge, old trees let little sun directly through their branches. Next time you are hurrying through to join the masses at Buckingham Palace, do yourself a favour and stop for a while in this little inner city oasis take in the trees, the coolness and enjoy the feeling of grass between your toes. It will help give you strength to face the hordes!

Green Park is just to the North Side of Buckingham Palace and is somewhat dissapointing compared to the nearby St James's Park. It is mostsl green space with some deck chairs for rent on its North side. There is, however, an interesting path along the East side of the park which gives great views of some of the Royal Palaces. I think Prince Charles' London residence is one that can be viewed. It certainly shows how the other half live in London.

I really like green park, like the other parks in london because it gives you a break from the hustle and bustle of tourists. its also nice to get a bit of fresh air if you've been in an office all day or wandering round the shops. the deckchairs are also a good idea but its a bit mean that you have to pay for them even if you only sit down to relax for a short while. all in all its a nice park to have a picnic in and its also close to buckingham palace and the fabulous victoria district so that is also a bonus!

The perfect spot for a picnic, Green Park is not only a little oasis of calm off the otherwise frantic Picadilly, but is also very easy to reach. Even on a Saturday afternoon on a gloriously sunny day, we secured a great picnic spot. The Marks and Spencer just across the road did very well at providing food and sparkling wine, and as it's so nearby, we were able to pop back whenever supplies ran out! For some reason there were people dressed up in costumes of the Jane Austen era, and performing the dance from the BBC Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice film, which was a bit random, but very fun to watch. As we brought our own blankets, we didn't have to pay for deck-chairs so it was all free! A truly lovely place to have a little sit down, take a book, catch up with friends, eat an ice-cream or just generally chill out in London.

Although I'm grateful for any green space in the capital, I find Green Park a bit of a disappointment. It just doesn't do anything for me and feels like a bit of dead space. Although they have deckchairs out for people to chill out in, I never really see anyone making much use of them and I never really see anyone taking time to stay here. There are some people doing this, but I never see many. It seems more like a through-way between Buckingham Palace, St James and Piccadilly rather than a Royal Park in its own right. St James and Hyde Park are just next door, and in my opinion are heaps nicer, so maybe this is why I never pay much attention to this park.

There are also lots of fascinating statues and sculptures all over the place. There is also a fountain and a pond that you will surely enjoy. Best place for a family bonding and even picnics. This is one of my comfort places that I always visited here in London. Definitely a recommended place that you will surely not regret.

Well it certainly is green, so I suppose it lives up to its description. However the only real purpose I can see for Green Park is to provide buffer between the palace and the sprawling chaos that makes up the rest of London. I suppose historically, it allowed the Royal family to get to Hyde Park without passing through any of the city. Green Park is fine if you are just looking for somewhere to sit for a while and chill out. However, it is hardly interesting in itself.
