We went here for dinner with friends on a Friday evening and really enjoyed the overall experience. The ambience was lovely and made for the perfect setting to relax and catch up with old friends. Our server, Adam, was attentive, friendly, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the evening. While we appreciated the wide variety of vegetarian options, the food itself was a bit underwhelming, especially given the higher price point. Our friends ordered the meat and seafood and seemed to enjoy it. We shared the gruyere puffs (personally I think you could skip these), the French onion soup was good, the twice baked potato was well-made but nothing special, the beet salad was tasty, but over-priced for what we got, and the rigatoni alla vodka lacked seasoning, but had potential. Lastly, the chocolate cake was ok. That said, the atmosphere and service truly stood out and made the night enjoyable overall.

First time dining at The Greggory, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. We started with the Beef Tartare & cone. Absolutely stunning presentation and incredibly delicious. One of the best appetizers we’ve had in a long time. I ordered the Elysian Lamb Two Ways, which was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. My husband chose the Rotisserie Roasted Prime Rib, and he was truly stunned by how delicious it was, he said he’s never had anything better. Our waiter, Casey, was outstanding. His recommendations were spot on, and he created such a warm, enjoyable atmosphere throughout the evening. The service really elevated the whole experience. Everything felt very clean and well maintained, including the restrooms. A wonderful first visit. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant. Ulyana🦋

Girls weekend brunch was perfect, and Santa was there along with face painting and balloons. The set up was great, away from dining and very classy. At the dining rooms, the atmosphere was festive, the food and service excellent. We had the steak and eggs, pasta, beet salad (a fave), lobster rolls, pancake tower, and the amazing banana cream pie. Cocktails were also great. If you like a place for its decor, this place left no detail overlooked. Classy modern. Highly recommend it.

Finally was able to get into this restaurant. Reservations are hard but was worth the wait. Food was really good. We started off with the Filet Sliders. Very tender and delicious. I ordered the Wagyu smash burgers. I would pass on that in the future. Fries are just okay and burgers were good but definitely not the best I have had. My wife hand the hangar steak frites... Portion was smaller than expected. Our son ordered a steak and he said it was really good. Everything was made as ordered which was appreciated. Not sure what was with the jalapeño stem with my burger? Sorry taking off a star for that presentation. I understand this is a high end restaurant but no pre meal bread, no coke refills and main steaks with no sides? Dessert was delicious. Restaurant and atmosphere was fabulous. Server was okay... Bit of an attitude and rarely seen. We will go back in the future.

The place is amazing , I’m giving four star only because of food. Food- great presentation, great options, for me, the food was extremely salty, as compared to other Italian food that I’ve had so many times in my life. The server Awedra was very nice, very helpful and accommodating, she even gave me an option to replace the entree, which was extremely salty. The replacement of was much better. Ambience is beautiful They said they’re working on vegetarian options, so waiting to have more option. Will definitely go back And definitely recommend as you all will have a great time there

All the apps were amazing, steaks cooked beautifully and were delicious, dessert was great, cocktails were on point, service was excellent and it has a very cool vibe. No doubt it was a very expensive meal, but you get what you pay for and the value was most certainly there. Perfect spot for a special occasion or if you can swing it perfect spot for any night. Definitely going back when able.

Last time, too many nice restaurants have opened in Chicago suburbs, but The Greggory truly stands out! Interior is unbelievable — it feels like a museum-restaurant. It’s stunningly beautiful inside, with very friendly staff, quality tableware, and comfortable seating. Highlight for food lovers is the meat — it’s cooked on real wood fire, and flavor is outstanding. The people who created this place clearly have great taste in everything. We didn’t want to leave, so we keep ordering more food just to enjoy flavors and vibe. I also want to highlight staff once more — this is not just text, they welcome you warmly as if they’ve known you for a long time. Cocktails are top level. I already recommend this place to all my friends, and now I’m recommending it to you too!

NYE Review! I have long been anticipating The Greggory's opening in the South Barrington Arboretum Center and it did not disappoint. Every aspect of this restaurant feels upscale from the interior design, wine cellar, featured central hearth, and menu offerings. Their food menu has a great variety of seafood, meat cuts, pastas, and elevated appetizers. For drinks, they offer great cocktail options but have a full bar with experienced bartenders to make a requested drink. Even their wine menu was organized well by type and region and had great vineyards listed. My husband and I visited for New Year's Eve so their menu was adjusted slightly and had some curated specials not normally offered. For drinks, we started with the Gregg's Way Old Fashioned & Pear Martini. Their menu has an Old Fashioned section offering 5 variations. The Gregg's Way is more of a traditional fixing and was well balanced. My Pear Martini was bright, balanced, and slightly tart. I really enjoyed it overall as it wasn't too spirit forward tasting. I later also ordered a Vesper Martini which was more gin forward but flavorful. For food, we started with the Waygu Beef Tartare & Bone Marrow Appetizer which was served with grilled sourdough. This tasted as good as it looked. The bread paired nicely and was a great portion for 2-4 people. For entrees, I got the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe. The noodles were cooked al dente, was cheese and olive oil forward, and had great flavor. One could get 4oz of truffle shavings on top for an additional $30. My husband got the Rotisserie Roasted Prime Rib which comes with an Au Jus & Creamy Horseradish sauce. The meat was perfectly cooked as requested and had minimal fatty spots. Our server, Angelica, took amazing care of us and went above & beyond to ensure we had a great experience. She thoroughly explained the menu and specials, made great recommendations, and checked in on us an appropriate amount. Overall, this was an amazing dining experience that I would certainly revisit. I cannot recommend The Greggory more when looking for an elevated date night or celebration dinner.

I agree with Mancow. It can be unique to be treated to rockstar service, and at The Greggory, it's even better than that. Great service paired with genuinely great food. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in a classic, fancy steakhouse, but the menu gives you total freedom. You can go all in on an incredible steak or keep it lighter with elevated bar-style dishes. Whatever mood you're in, it works. We started with the avocado and crab appetizer, which was absolutely delicious, along with the popovers, which were also amazing. For my meal, I had the shrimp cocktail and the roasted beet and endive salad, and honestly, it made my day. The salad in particular was great. The bitterness of the endive, the richness of the cheese, and the sweetness of the beets all worked perfectly together. I thought I might still be hungry afterward, but I was completely satisfied and happy. My husband ordered the filet, and he loved it. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and just a really delicious, well-executed steak. Kaitlyn was our server and was truly on it. Attentive, friendly, and perfectly timed without ever hovering. She made the experience even better. Great service, great food, and a vibe that feels special without being stuffy. We will absolutely be back

Yesterday we had one of the most amazing experiences to celebrate a birthday. I had heard many things about this restaurant, but it lived up to an exceeded all of my expectations. You walk into an exquisite dining hall and open bar area. The ambience is very modern yet upscale and everything has been put into with extreme detail from the lighting fixtures to the tiles to even the uniforms that the staff wears. First, the experience is one worth waiting for and we had to wait 20 minutes even with the reservation but well worth the wait. Grab your reservations early in the week as they get filled up very quickly. The staff was super friendly and always accommodating at all times of service. We started with french fries, oysters, pullover, bread. The oysters were very fresh and had a nice salty taste of them. The fries were thicker cut, but they still worked with the garlic aïoli. The best of the three was the pullover bread, which is flaky yet light and has a great crunchy texture to it. It comes with an amazing butter spread that they provide. I ordered the rigatoni à la vodka pasta with chicken, and the special was a truffle mushroom risotto, which had an extreme depth the flavor. First, the rigatoni, it was a creamy spicy sauce, and the pasta was cooked al dente which helped it not become soggy and the flavors were immense with aromas of tomato and cheese and spice. The mushroom risotto had like seven layers of depth you got the creaminess and the mushroom and the truffle cutting through all of it there's a little sweet tone to it and it just paired really well. We ended with the white chocolate cake, which was a perfect amount of cream to cake ratio and the taste was very vanilla, had raspberry syrup which cut through the sweetness and the cake layers were very airy. Overall, this experience was a 10 out of 10 and it is want to have to celebrate any event.

This place is a 10 out of 10!! The menu is outstanding- there were 6 of us and not one thing we ordered disappointed! SERVICE IS IMPECCABLE! KATE IS AMAZING - can't wait to go back and try brunch, and will ask for Kate! Ambience is beautiful too, this is definitely my new favorite restaurant! It's nice to go out and know you're gonna have a fabulous meal, be treated kindly by the staff from the minute you walk in at the hostess to whomever filling your water glasses! Nicole was our server and she was excellent! Her service was detailed oriented and thoughtful. She was always cutting our food and plating it. Coming back to check in on us in a non intrusive manner. She also surprised us with a champagne toast and dessert for our celebration. Starters: - Mediterranean Salad was crisp and tangy! - Focaccia was perfectly airy. - Grilled octopus: perfected the char + served with squid ink pasta of some sorts that's so delicious and a mix of pasta meets a little crunch. Mains: - The tomahawk Wagyu 32 oz was perfectly fatty with a crispy exterior - not chewy. Just melts. - Rigatoni alla vodka was so creamy and ever so slightly al dente! - Sides were light and not overpowering (mushrooms, carrots and fries). Chianti was excellent. Dry. Tasty. Manager came over to check on all the tables towards the end of our meal.

Pink Pony Club cocktail Espresso Corned Beef Hash Banana Cream Pie This is a gorgeous place with friendly service but the food wasn't impressive. The corned beef hash was almost entirely onions with barely any beef. The banana cream pie was bananas without cream. Tried a bite of my friend's bacon which was just a dry, overly smoked pork chop. The cocktail was great, though.

Amazing fancy place! We got the pink pony club, passion fruit martini which comes with a side of processco, and CDMX Carajillo. I also tried the fresca flaca but unfortunately it was too much tequila so traded it for a rosé. All the food was delicious and the server was nice to even comp the dessert and add a sparkler since we were there celebrating a birthday! I recommend the popover rolls, rigatoni Alla vodka pasta, beef stroganoff, banana cheesecake, basque cheesecake, and steak frites. Very nice experience with beautiful decor and a bar!

What a pleasure to finally get to write a good review. I'm sure you've noticed that everything seems to be going downhill when it comes to service and dining. Yes? Hold on! What a great find is the Greggory! This place will be impossible to get into within six months. (My predictions are never wrong. Never.) This is everything a great steakhouse should be. And they are doing righteous creamed spinach again. (The current trend now is for steakhouses not to do the traditional creamed spinach viewing that it's "too old-school." Bah!) Waiter Yannis is a treat and to be asked for. Yanni is a card. A member of "The Mancow Militia of Love."He is gregarious and insightful. He will make your dining experience about as great as you can find in North America. (Please don't request him if you are the non-tipping type. And you know who I mean! But if you request him and mention my name (The Mancow) I can promise you will have the best dining experience you've had in years.) The food? See my pics. Chef Sasso is legend. Wine guy? Also top notch. Front of the house ladies have a sense of humor. Rare these days. This is a well trained professional group of people. And I say that only because service is so awful now elsewhere. Service is not an afterthought at this place They have some reasonably priced items on the menu. Food costs are soaring, but you can find some affordable things. I had "the steak sandwich and the steak sandwich" and put it on the Soldinger's bill. Nice accoutrements and little extras with every dish. The salt box is a bit bourgeois, but I indulged in it. What the heck... The bathrooms are individual and spacious. Boy, would I have loved these bathrooms in my sly single partying days. The ambience is a bit lacking in that it's got cavernous rooms that get very amplified. My statement for the last 30 years has been "we don't need any more (FAKE) speakeasies, steakhouses, or pasta joints, in Chicago." Gibsons's Italia recently has became a sensation. This place has topped it however in recent surveys. (And it's only been open eight months.) Again, this place (if they can keep the staff as great as they are) will become legend. (And as a gourmand and expert on these things, I am never wrong. Never.) P.S. I could've easily asked for more au jus ("gravy") with my French dip and gotten it, But it's a bit embarrassing because you see I'm from Suicide Falls Missouri and we like gravy so much we don't like to see the plate.

Came here on a Friday night with a reservation for four people at 6:15 PM. It is located in the big Arboretum of South Barrington and although you would think there were lots of parking spaces during peak times it is very hard to find a parking space and you will hike to the restaurant. Upon entering, there were people waiting to greet me. They were very gracious, and they actually walked me directly to my table because my party was already there. The service all evening was absolutely fantastic. I wish I remembered our waiters name. The menu is fantastic with a lot of classics and staples that you would expect in a steakhouse as well as one with this Italian influence. Portions are pretty fair, although I would say some things like the salad are on the smaller side I personally got the steak and frites and it was perfection The mushroom risotto was also delicious but a bit salty, but I would still order it and eat it the next time The cake was ridiculously huge and it had the sparkler because we were celebrating a friend's birthday My only complaint about this place is the fact that it is so dark and they try to cram in so many tables and our table happen to be right next to one of the bars which was also totally full and also part of our table backed up to main aisles of traffic and our chairs were getting bumped all night Further to get to the restroom, you literally had to go from our side of the restaurant to the complete opposite side of the restaurant to get to the restaurants. That was absurd because you were literally walking through so many people's tables breathing on their food, hearing their conversations and that is not pleasant. They really need to reconfigure the floor plan the placement of tables and chairs or do something.

We enjoyed an anniversary dinner at the Greggory, and it's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. Having never been there, I was first amazed at the size of the building and the large dining and bar areas. The entire space is sectioned off into smaller areas to both reduce noise and provide a more intimate setting. Every space is equally gorgeous with every detail executed to perfection. Our waiter, Adam, greeted us with both a smile and immediate assurance that he will guarantee an outstanding evening for us - and that it was. The gryuere popover starter was mouthwatering. Our beet salad was refreshing and plentiful for both of us to split one. My Halibut was delicious with a delightful blend of spices and a scrumptious vegetable accompaniment. And my FRIES! I could have made a meal of those all by themselves. To finish, we had the chocolate praline cake with hot fudge sauce. AMAZING. A night to remember!

Late post We came here last night for dinner to celebrate our nephew's birthday. This restaurant is located in The Arboretum, so parking is ample, but they also have valet. Ambiance is a mix of casual yet elegant, and we were seated in a half-table, half-booth. The chairs are very comfy. Staff is welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. I don't remember the name of our waiter, but I think it was John? (sorry) He was great at answering all of our questions and gave his personal recommendations, which we appreciated. Appetizers: Gruyère popover rolls, crabmeat and avocado, and grilled Spanish octopus. Entrees: I ordered the salmon, hubby ordered the filet mignon, niece ordered the Wagyu beef tartare and bone marrow, and nephew ordered the bone-in ribeye. Sides: mushrooms and fries. Drink: Toki sour The crabmeat was very meaty, and the octopus was extremely tender. All of our entrees were just as delicious! Everything was done to perfection! We didn't order dessert because we were full, but we wanted our nephew to at least get something, even though he isn't big on sweets. But he declined, and our waiter was generous in removing one drink from our tab. We don't live in the area, but I do recommend giving this place a try.

The Greggory is a pretty cool place. We came here for a late birthday dinner. Late meaning later in the year, not late at night. It's another Barrington offering amongst a sea of good Barrington restaurants and is nestled across from Hampton Social and Giostra. It's in good company. While there are parking lots all around, because of all the restaurants, you'll be parking a few lots away. You can always drop the car with the valet, but c'mon, do your legs not work? So we looked at the menu and the first thing that caught my eye were the bread offerings. Two of them for $8 and $9 respectively. When the hell did this trend start? Restaurants used to provide bread, now they're charging you for it. Is that how they raise the bar? Nickel and diming you with pricey bread that used to be free? It's not like customers would fill up on bread and water and then ditch. So guess what? On principle, we did not order bread. I was interested in the wedge salad, but the roquefort dressing and $19 price tag turned me away from it. We split a Caesar salad instead. Next was our main entrees. I ordered the Altair Wagyu. Holy cow, was it good. Tender, juicy, flavorful. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. They know their stuff when it comes to steaks. My wife got the rigatoni. There wasn't a whole heck of a lot on the menu for her as she doesn't eat meat (though not a vegetarian, somehow). It wasn't expensive, but here we were in this gorgeous restaurant, and I'm eating a delicious cut of meat and she's eating basic rigatoni. Clearly this is hear for those who don't eat steak. I could tell that she was underwhelmed and so we skipped dessert and opted for a DQ near our house. She likes that place and why not, it's still ice cream. This is a place to come to show off your bougie self. A place to be seen. A place to order a crazily-priced cut of meat (though delicious) just so you can say you ordered that cut of meat. It seems like a good place to have a business dinner to flatter someone. It was good, but there are better places to go that we both can enjoy for the food and atmosphere without caring about being seen.

Review of The Greggory - South Barrington Food The food itself was genuinely excellent. The homemade focaccia was outstanding, and the espresso martini was probably the best I've had to date. The cocktail menu is well-curated with a great selection of alcohol--we also tried a spritz and a blue cheese martini, both of which were delicious. The tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly with a beautiful char on the outside and a true medium inside. The bone marrow mashed potatoes were exceptional, both in presentation and flavor. The creamy texture paired with the richness of the bone marrow was indulgent without being overwhelming, and the chives added just the right contrast to cut through the richness. That said, the wedge salad was a major disappointment. It was not a wedge at all--it was chopped lettuce with wedge-style toppings. The blanched and peeled baby tomatoes resulted in soggy tomato "sacks," and the addition of lemon juice completely overpowered the blue cheese flavor. For a steakhouse, a classic wedge salad is a must. With several other chopped salads already on the menu, this should be kept simple: a true wedge of lettuce with classic accompaniments. Anything else is not what diners expect when ordering a wedge. Experience Unfortunately, the overall experience fell well short of expectations. We had an 8:30 PM reservation and arrived early at 8:15 PM, fully understanding we would not be seated immediately. However, we were not seated until approximately 45 minutes later. We were directed to wait in the bar area, which was already crowded, and if not for two patrons leaving, we would have been standing shoulder-to-shoulder with others waiting. The entrance only has a single couch for waiting guests, which was already occupied--this is simply unacceptable. For a restaurant clearly aiming to mirror the Chicago dining scene with its lighting, ambiance, and overall vibe, the lack of organization and execution was noticeable and disappointing. Once seated, pacing continued to be an issue. Plates from completed courses sat on the table for 10-15 minutes before being cleared. At one point, a clean plate was delivered with a visible crumb on it--again, something that should never happen at this price point or caliber of restaurant. Pricing Our meal--one wedge salad, a tomahawk steak, bone marrow mashed potatoes, one drink each, and a white chocolate mousse cake--totaled $307 before tip. At this price, both service and execution need to match the quality of the food. Overall We do plan to return, but not anytime soon. The food shows real promise, but the service and overall experience need significant refinement. We hope these issues are ironed out before our next visit, because the potential is absolutely there.

Updating to add a brunch review. Elizabeth was our server and she's a fierce, attentive wonderful server. We had the Almond Croissant, Schnitzel, Steak and Eggs, and a piece of strawberry rhubarb cheesecake for my husband's birthday. What made it so perfect, which wasn't even anticipated or planned, is that Strawberry Rhubarb is his favorite and we had no idea it was even an option. The brunch drinks are also amazing, and the Pink Pony! No words. Thanks again.

Finally the Greggory is open for business!! The interior is beautifully curated and gave off fancy vibes. Thankfully the staff and the menu did go down the pretentious route. We sat in the bar area on a Friday night for a nightcap and were impressed with the space, service and drinks. The execution was at the level we were anticipating. I had the Party on Higgins since I'd never had the combination of tequila, Aperol and chartreuse. It was an interesting combo and none of the spirits overpowered the cocktail. I recognize that the restaurant focus is American food/steakhouse but I would have liked to seen some veg friendly options especially as bar bites. Although we were there around 9 PM, folks were still ordering meals so we got a chance to see some of the menu coming out and everything looked great. I see myself returning for another nightcap and maybe a slice of chocolate cake...

We visited Greggory about a month ago, when they just opened. We were excited because we have been waiting for it to open. The restaurant deco was modern chic. Upon entering, there's a big entry way. We greeted by the hostess. Then we were shown to our table and we can see the kitchen. We waited for a while for our wait staff to come by. However, our wait staff didn't take time to explain the concept or specials of the menu. We inquired about gluten free because it was not on the menu. Our wait staff pointed out a few things that can be made gluten free. We ordered some drinks while deciding what to order. The menu has a range of options, but the center point was steak. When the drinks came, we placed our order: salads, soup, and two entrees. Then, we waited for a while for our salads and soup to come. After that, we wait for another while for the main course to arrive. Even then, we had to ask for a steak knife, and a side because it was forgotten. We can see that our entrees were under a warmer for while, because my medium well steak was very well done. We were offered desserts, and we opted for the ice cream as it was the only option. I understand that the restaurant was just opened, there might be still some issues to work out. It was just a so-so experience. The whole dinner took close to three hours with a lot of waiting in between.

We had our daughter's sweet 16 party here yesterday. It was accommodated in a beautiful private room, with exceptional attention to detail. From lighting, to the printed menus and dinnerware setup - excellent! The food was incredible - perfect appetizers of popovers, sliders, pigs in blankets etc. followed by an awesome spread for dinner (pastas and meat) - each dish was outstanding, hot and served in time. Dessert was a massive Sundae tower. I have to mention the service - our waitstaff was on top of it!! Accommodating, attentive and incredibly quick. I have never been so impressed by a restaurant and its service. Not only are we regulars there for dinner but will now plan on every major life event there. Well done Team Greggory!!! We are lucky to have you in Barrington.

As a recent city transplant this restaurant is everything! Made resos for my wedding anniversary the second I saw they opened them up. My expectations were low bc it was maybe like day 2 of the restaurant opening but my expectations were met! Everything from the decor to the service to the food and drinks was fantastic! My husband ordered a manhattan and I had a Paloma- both were made very good. Food: Wagyu tartar and bone marrow Oysters Half lobster Steak frites Cacio e pepe Creamed spinach Everything was delicious and fresh. I enjoyed everything we ordered. Most definitely will be back!

One of the best meals I have ever had. From the moment you walk in the door, you are the moment and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The attention to detail is astounding. They just earned the title of 33rd best streak house in North America and they deserve every bit of it and more. Yanni made the experience that much better with amazing service. Great food and service. Beef Stroganoff was excellent. My wife enjoyed the lamb dish. Others had steak that was well prepared. The atmosphere was relaxing.

We dined last week and had the porterhouse and bucatini cacio e pepe as our main dishes which were good. However, the service was very poor for a high end restaurant. For the amount we spent, we expect better service. Our waters were never filled, dishes were not cleaned up timely, and we waited an extensive time for our check. They clearly need more staff. The main room dining atmosphere had good vibes, however, we were sat in the side private room so we didn't get the full experience of the open kitchen. This put a damper on our experience. Overall, we were very disappointed in a place that has such high recommendations.

The Greggory is a nice looking steakhouse but the delivery of a fine dining steakhouse, food-wise, is hit and miss. Service was excellent. Cocktails were excellent. But the food...the bone-in ribeye was fine, the BLT wedge salad was good (not great), and our sides were tepid and flavorless. But the risotto--simultaneously runny with overdone arborio.

The first couple of times I've been here were pretty great. Good service good food good drinks... but yesterday was weird. I went on their website to make a reservation and saw there were plenty of open times so decided to just walk in. The host said there's nothing available but check the bar area.. never once said it would be a little wait or anything .. just that there was nothing available... bar was full so I went back on the website and booked a reservation for 8 minutes later... LMAO. Walked back up said I had a reservation and was seated immediately.. what the hell? Our server adam was gr8 tho

We came here on a Monday evening. The restaurant is very trendy and upscale. We were seated in one of the dining rooms promptly. Our waitress was super nice and friendly. She explained menu items. She almost checked on us too much but can't really complain about an attentive server, especially when good restaurant service is hard to come by these days. The only thing that was kind of annoying was when we asked about any menu item the response was that "it's phenomenal". So it wasn't super helpful in making decision. With that being said there were so many amazing choices on the menu that it was hard to make a decision. From cocktails to dessert everything looked and sounded amazing. For cocktails we have the Fresa Flaca (my favorite drink now!) it's under the martini section and it's a strawberry infused tequila martinis with lime juice. My husband had the Oaxaca which was good, I tried a sip but on the smokier side. My in laws had an old fashioned Greggs way and a martini. All of our drinks were excellent. For appetizers we had the shrimp cocktail and the popover rolls which of course all tasted great. For mains I had the halibut (they just recently changed their menu so the online menu that's currently up doesn't have the same halibut option on it which I was a little bummed about) however it was delicious. My husband had the bone in filet which he said was really good, my father in law had the salmon and my mother in law opted to just have a bar bites option of the lobster rolls. She said they were good but way more bread and just a small portion of lobster. All of us had wine with our mains. We were celebrating a new business venture so when we ordered dessert (praline chocolate cake) it came out with a fun candle. Overall it was such a wonderful experience and great meal.

Almost everything was great - food and ambience and our waiter. The young lady as we entered was less than welcoming. Will definitely try again!

What can I say? I am so overwhelmed and blown away by our experience, I just had to say something positive - actually, a lot of things positive. First experience, the Valet parking. Hardest working men on this planet, hands down. Where else can I view a Miami Vice vintage Ferarri Testarossa. Porsche Cayenne SUV, and McLaren (?model) sportscar up front. Who doesn't have a McLaren by the way? Is this a car show? Anyway, real nice view, and I have definately seen worse. Second, our hostess/server/spiritual guide Natalia, in the cocktail bar, deserves a special shout out - because she earned it (times ten) Lets talk a little about the cocktail lounge, it's style, ambiance, and attitude. First - I did not detect ego, arrogance, or (ahem) favoritism here - just hosting and friendliness at its apex. Don't get me wrong, this is a way class, upscale swanky, but non pretentious (don't you love that word) experience. In other words, dont expect to come in here dressed like a slob and not get served - but dont expect any favors either. Respect the place, your level of dress, and everyone around you. Proper attitude pays off - which is evident here. But - and I'll say this again, as far as a modern decor that combines comfort, class, and just plain cool, trust me, the archiects, builders, and manager / partners worked overtime - and nailed it. Come see so for yourself. Third, the food. Not to test the kichen, chef, or anything, just to satisfy my tastebuds, but they took a rubbery, chewy, work hard at digesting (octopus) seafood - and mastered it. I came out soft, creamy textured and delicicious - with seaweed ? Well, it was seaweedy-y. In short, it looked and tasted out of this world. The meat and potato girl ordered steak frites that scored big with her - and therefore me as well. We have a new fan of cognac peppercon sauce which I will now have to learn to make - but not replicate Fourth, its a cocktail bar - duh, the drinks! My (just one, ha ha) dirty gin blue cheese olive martini was/were lethal and other-worldly - thank you bar staff and Monkey 47. Why dont these have FDA or OSHA warning labels on them? The red wine girl sampled a cucumber-lime vodka drink that made her a beleiver. I now have new reason to rid my home booze cabinet of under used vodka bottles and raid the grocery vegetable section for cukes. Fifth, the blue suited floor walking managers engaged in the proper level of glad-handing and acting as feedback sounding posts. My words were breif, to the point, and very glowing. I love it when a place has a mechanism in place, in order to help make itself better. Will they see us again? I'll answer by asking - how soon is soon enough? The Greggory is calling...

First thing f all the restaurant was packed, every room and bar. Had the fillet and is was cooked to perfection. Tasty, soft very enjoyable. We had many options, the New York steak also so good, wine service,, note the wine buyer was on hand as was very informative and friendly. The mashed potatoes with bacon me marrow excellent. French onion soup was good, oysters were the best tasting and rigatoni again excellent. The service was excellent and informative. One observation the popover should be a set quantity, it seems that each table received one for every guest as opposed to a set amount for the price, very curious. Need an ice cream sundae on the menu along with a baked potato, in my opinion. You can't go wrong here as the place is booked solid for the future weekends.

I went twice for dinner at The Gregory for my birthday and friends birthday. The food was delicious, I had the filet mignon, perfectly cooked, my friend had fish, really good. The service was very good and very nice atmosphere. Really needed reservation because this place is very busy !! I will definitely go back

This was my first visit to the Greggory for my birthday dinner, and it was truly a treat. The inside is very trendy but also timeless. You can see the open flame kitchen and the food being prepared and the tables are perfectly spread out. My server was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and helped us make all the right decisions. I know I will have to go back because there are so many things I wanted to try! For this dinner, we got oysters, pigs in a blanket, and Gruyère popovers as our appetizers. The pigs in the blanket were the best thing with the homemade mustard, so buttery and unique. The oysters were fresh and not fishy. The popovers I would maybe skip next time, as I wasn't a huge fan. They were tasty, but not something I would gravitate towards again. For dinner, we all got filets with sides of roasted peppers and mashed potatoes. The sides are shareable, so for three of us it was the perfect amount! All of our steaks were prepared perfectly, mine being medium well, and my other family members getting medium and medium rare. The mashed potatoes were the star. So buttery and creamy they were delicious. And the peppers were almost like a melrose pepper. They look scary and spicy when they first come out, but the taste is sweet and mild and yummy. We got a dessert for my birthday, on the house, and the presentation alone was amazing!! Then you taste the cake and oh my gosh, it was so light and not too sweet and such a treat. Our bill with 2 bottles of water, 2 Arnold palmers, and one beer included, came to about $315 before tip. For the amount of food we got and the quality, I would say this is an incredibly price. I will definitely be coming back to try the other things that peaked my interest. Such a great new restaurant and a must try!

I dined at The Greggory on a Monday night to celebrate a family birthday. The restaurant is a nice mix of casual yet downtown modern. The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant staff were kind enough to let us bring an apple pie in for dessert because it was the birthday person's favorite dessert. The food we ordered was good. We started with an order of popovers that came with a seasoned butter. Most of us had steak with one person opting for the hamburger. For sides I tried the sweet potato and others at the table had the asparagus. The food is cooked in a hearth. While it's different I don't think it produced food that was somehow unique to what is served at other steak houses. I'm glad we gave it a try and if I'm in the area again and need a nice dinner spot to celebrate an occasion I might return.

I love this place. It is exactly what the burbs needed. It is full of Gibsons DNA but does its own thing as well. While you can easily spend a fortune here, you can also just come in and get a steak with fries with a salad and get out for under $50. The service is impressive. They make you feel like a true VIP at every visit. I planned a small party there and they knocked it out of the park. If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!! A few real standouts: the prime rib is awesome. The corned beef bites are amazing. The bone in ribeye is better than Gibsons. The steak frites is decadent and delicious.

Arrogant host/hostesses at front. Couldn't find reservation despite phone confirmation. We arrived 15 minutes early and the rudely said we would have to wait for designated reservation time. Told to go get a drink at bar while waiting. However, no room at bar. No tables. Multiple parties of similar size were seated before us. Had to repeatedly ask about our table. Didn't get seated until 20 minutes after reservation time. Essentially waited 30 minutes. Drinks seemed weak or watered down. Prime rib was dry. Waiter was decent but other than that markedly disappointed with entire experience. Prices were high compared to similar establishments. Definitely overrated.

Had dinner there last night. Atmosphere is great and you can hold conversation because proper sound control was built into the design. Grilled octopus appetizer is unbelievably good and served with black ink squid pasta. Shrimp cocktail is top notch. I had the pork chop and it was good. Wedge salad excellent. Service very good. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Ill be back.

Was eagerly awaiting the opening of the Greggory and our first visit did not disappoint in the slightest. The restaurant is beautifully designed! We sat in the bar at the high top tables which were great. Brooke was our server and she was phenomenal! So happy, so attentive, and so knowledgeable about the menu! She was always around when our drinks came, our food came, or if she felt we needed anything. Loved her! We started with a round of blueberry lemon drop martinis which were incredible! We enjoyed the focaccia as a starter which was so so good, I highly recommend it! It came with a cute little bottle of EVOO too, love a cute presentation! We next enjoyed a round of spicy margaritas which were also fantastic! For dinner we enjoyed the steak frites with a side of asparagus that came with romesco sauce. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the romesco sauce for the asparagus was so flavorful! We will absolutely be back! Can't wait to try some of their handmade pastas and more of their delicious cocktails! The owners were on site and were sure to stop by to make sure everything was up to par. This is a fantastic restaurant, such a great addition to the Arboretum!

All the appetizers, main courses, and sides were delicious. The service was top notch. It is a very large restaurant but by dividing into individual rooms it has the feeling of being intimate . We will be back. A definite winner!

Building is beautiful, Inside decor is beautiful, prices are expensive, so maybe once a year special occasion, was pretty loud and hard to hear conversation....But the kicker was when my husband asked for little more steak sauce, they charged $4.00 for that! I've never seen that happen before !

Dark high end supper club experience, superb service. The food is high quality, biggest shrimp I have ever seen. The bone marrow tartare was a favorite of mine, loved the flavors. A free while chocolate dessert with sparklers for special occasions.

A City-Worthy Dining Experience in the Suburbs I was so pleasantly surprised by The Greggory--it's everything you want in a high-end dining experience without having to drive downtown. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was beautiful, chic, and elevated. It felt like a trendy city spot tucked right into South Barrington. The food was absolutely fantastic. Every dish we tried was full of bold flavor and cooked to perfection--you can tell there's real attention to detail, especially with the fire-grilled items. Even the cocktails were creative and well-balanced. The service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel special. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but 100% worth it for the quality, ambiance, and overall vibe. Whether you're celebrating something or just want a memorable night out, The Greggory delivers. I can't wait to go back.

We had a great meal at The Greggory last night. The restaurant is beautiful and it was very lively for a Tuesday evening. Nice to see such a great place in the suburbs. Our server was very attentive and helpful in describing the food when we had questions. For apps we did oysters and the tomato burrata salad. The tomato salad had these little balsamic pearls which looked like caviar but popped in your mouth with this great flavor; Entrees were bone in filet and halibut. Both were seasoned really well and the steak was cooked perfectly. For sides we had the mashed potatoes and the mushrooms. Loved the mushrooms!! It was my birthday so we had the key lime pie (that was the only picture I remembered to take). We had heard mixed reviews so we were very happy to have such a fabulous experience.

My team came to the Greggory for a work event and had a wonderful experience in one of their private rooms. The staff are extremely attentive, and the space is beautiful. We started with beautiful cocktails as well as a cheese board, seafood tower, crab salad and burrata. We also indulged in lobster bisque and Caesar salads, and I can confirm all of the apps were tasty. The main attraction was the prime rib which was cooked perfectly, served with mash and creamed spinach, again all of it was wonderful, especially the prime rib with horseradish dipping. We finished with a few dessert options, my favorite being the mini key lime pies. I would absolutely recommend the Greggory, it was wonderful and I didn't have a bad bite, I just wish I took more photos to share.

Delicious food! Amazing ambience. Feels like a 1940's supper club!! Love , love, love it!!!!

food was amazing, so rare to find a restaurant with a real scratch kitchen not warming up sysco food. pasta was amazing and made from scratch, prime rib perfectly cooked and our waiter Yanni paid attention to every detail. better tasting food than some of the Michelin restaurants downtown

This week we dined at the brand new & highly anticipated opening of the Greggory in South Barrington. Opened by our wonderfully talented friend Chef Jose Sosa (mastermind of the menu) along with Gregg Horan & Bill Veremis, the chic polo-club decor and open fire cooking set the restaurant apart from the chain restaurants in the area. Everything was beautifully presented and super scrumptious! Can't wait to return!

My siblings and I have been wanting to come here ever since we heard it was opening. We decided to go for their graduation dinner. From the moment we entered until we left, the experience and service was unforgettable. Our server Mark was amazing. He was knowledgable about the menu, the preparation, the restaurant's history and had stories for everything. He was very accomodating. We ordered: Gruyere Popovers, Wagyu Pigs in a Blanket, a few steaks like the Ribeye and Filet Mignon, whipped potatoes, mushrooms and the spinach agnolotti. May I say that their steak is amazing. I've been to a lot of the popular steakhouses in the city (Chicago) and this surpasses their preparation. The crust and flavor is amazing but it beats other places as it was so tender that our knives just glided through with ease. We loved the popovers so much and the pigs in a blanket as well. My only complaint would be with the whipped potatoes. They were very liquidy and watery. The amount was very little as well it felt like a potato sauce even. Other than that everything was so pleasant and I am so excited to come back. I would have loved to try their seafood but my siblings are a little picky with that so I am looking forward to trying that next time. The interior is beautiful, service exceeds all expectations and the food is wonderful. I highly recommend for your next dinner. And thank you again Mark for a lovely experience at The Greggory.

I'm pleased to report our latest visit was wonderful. I had the prime rib which was evenly cooked to perfection and the buttered whipped potatoes which were delicious. To top the evening off they gave us a mouth watering white cake with vanilla mousse filling and white chocolate shavings drizzled in a raspberry sauce. Definitely a different experience this time and I will definitely be coming back.
