We were here twice during our visit, having learned our lesson the first time (Sunday) when we arrived just after 9:00 am to discover that almost all of their pastries were sold out. We ended up getting a boule and spent a mortgage payment on cheese--Prufrock and Eidolon, both incredible--and chorizo. You will fork over all your money for this stuff though since the quality is unassailable.
Today, when we arrived 7 minutes after their opening, there were at least 30-40 people ahead of us but we still managed to snag some of the pastries that hadn't sold out. The 30 minute wait was worth it. The croissants are, we dare to say, as good as the ones that you can get in France or any other high end bakery in the states. The flaky salt atop the chocolate one was appreciated. We loved the savory garlic and herb scone with its perfect texture and balance of flavors. And while we also admired the buckwheat financier, it was so sticky that it was almost impossible to get out of the wrapper. The apply cream bun was OK--kinda like a donut with some crumble on top.
There's a coffee stand nearby to make the wait bearable and some animals strolling around that kept our daughter entertained during the wait. The staff is very friendly and super patient, completely unfazed by the hordes ready to pounce. We have to say that even though it is TOP dollar here, we didn't mind shelling out the cash because everything really is that good. While we'd had their cheese on previous visits to the vineyard, this is now definitely going to be a "must stop" for us and we hope at some point to do the farm tour as well.
