"The Grill is one of those places that solves the special occasion dilemma for anyone dealing with a picky eater—making it the easiest Wharf spot to take your 35-year-old partner who has barely graduated from chicken tenders and fries. The American restaurant covers your basics, like the pimento cheese and onion jam burger that you’ll see on almost every table. The Grill stays pretty crowded, and the tables are so squished you have to apologize to your neighbor when you head to the restroom. But that also makes it harder for your eyes to wander around the room, since you’ll be staring right into the eyes of the person next to you. Better to focus on the person you came with." - Tristiaña Hinton

We stopped in for lunch for the first time today. The menu is very large and we will definitely be back to try some more items. We had the chicken fajitas and the breaded tenderloin with onion rings. All of the food was very good. They also seem to have a abundance of staffing which is a nice thing to see. Our service was great and even had other servers checking in on while we ate.

Excellent place for a meal. Staff is friendly and fast! We've never had a bad meal here and we come here a lot. Menu is diverse but good in all areas. Portions are large so definitely worth the value. I've had normal burgers and sandwiches as well as the full dinners, all were good! Owner always stops by the table to see how the meal is going. Support staff are quick to clean away dishes and glasses so the table is already clean. Only knock is that sometimes the food comes too fast salads came right after we got the apps and we were still eating salads when entrees showed up so we had apps, salads and mains all on the table at once.

Hadn't been in awhile and stopped in for dinner after a busy day. We were sat immediately and reviewed the menu. Lots of choices to pick from. I went with the steak salad. Unfortunately I was not asked what temp I wanted my steak cooked with. The steak lacked flavor and was a bit bland. Not pictured my wife ordered the fajita salad which the chicken was bland. I think with the flavorful dressing they hope that gives it but she cannot have dairy so needed an alternative. The club was huge. The onion rings were a bit soggy. Staff was overall good and you see the owners/managers walking around, unfortunately for us they never came to our table.

Google
One of the best tenderloins in Indy! I also appreciate that they have a variety of food so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Menu options are a little more varied than your typical bar food menu. Our kids enjoyed the chicken fingers and kid's ice cream sundae.

Google
Monday through Thursday specials include a soft drink. I highly recommend the grilled chicken salad with dressing on the side. The black n blue salad is also fantastic. Never had a bad experience at the Grill! With 2 dining areas one being family friendly and an additional private meeting/dining area.

Google
Interesting spot, family friendly, bar, tv wall to wall, and very attentive staff. I had 3+ people outside of my waitress ask me if everything is okay. Very friendly. Food was really good, I want to call It high end bar food but it’s beyond that. The menu is very large, but has everything from healthy options, large salads, steak, ribs, Italian and burgers. Worth a trip!

Came here for lunch. Service was great. But the food was bland for my taste. I ordered the cheesesteak. I usually never have to add salt and pepper to any dish when I eat out. It comes with chips, so I had to pay extra for French fries. (Almost $3 extra, for total of around $16 for a small sandwich) Their onion rings and French fries were slightly under cooked and bland. The cheese on my cheesesteak was a bit cold. My kids said the food was ok. Overall, not impressed with the food. Probably will not be back.

Yelp
Our gathering at 'The GRILL' Friday Night was also a lot of laughter and memories being shared. After chatting for a while, it was time to order. Nancy is having the "Worlds Best Tenderloin" Sandwich; Premium Pork Centercut Tenderloin, hand breaded. Served on a toasted bun with your favorite garnishes (Lettuce, Red Onion & Mayo). I went with the "Prime Rib French Dip"; shaved Prime Rib on a Hoagie Roll with sauteed Onions, Provolone Cheese. Served with warm Au jus & Chips. Ava is our server and she is taking care of all 26 of us keeping the waters & iced teas filled along with reorders of drinks. Needless to say she earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award and loved it (and of course, a Very Nice Tip).

Yelp
The one thing I miss the most about living in McCordsville is this place. It's different and secluded from everything. I can be sure to go here and never run into anyone I know, makes me feel free but also the food is awesome and so are the people. Thank you so much for making this a nice place to be.

Yelp
I have driven past The Grill multiple times and have been meaning to stop in, I finally got the chance to on Sunday. I was thrifting with fellow Yelper Merry and we worked up an appetite, we stopped in at around 4/4:30 in the afternoon. The restaurant was empty when we arrived as expected due to the time, and we were offered our choice of a table or booth. The staff that greeted us were welcoming and friendly. Many more people tricked in for dinner while we were there, majority of which seemed to be regulars as the staff greeted them by name which was lovely to see. Our server came to the table immediately and asked if we had any questions, as we had never been I asked what the popular items were and what she enjoyed. She shared that their onion rings are the most popular appetizer, but her favourite were the wings. We ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, the crispy chicken salad, and the breaded mushrooms. Our food came out quickly but not so fast that we questioned the freshness. I customized my salad and had the chicken tossed in buffalo sauce, which the kitchen accommodated without hesitation. Portion sizes are large, and the food is tasty. The menu is extensive and I had a hard time deciding what to choose, this is a place to go if you have a group with different meal preferences. There is a dining side and a bar side, I may venture out to the bar side and watch the Super Bowl and try the wings and onion rings.

Yelp
I didn't expect too much from The Grill as a typical bar-food restaraunt (not usually my fave), but a friend and I were out nearby and hungry after a day of thrifting and wanted something local instead of a chain. This place was a pleasant surprise and really hit the spot! It was pretty empty when we arrived, but we were there for a late-lunch/early-dinner. They have lots of tables, but seemed like they were spaced well so it wouldn't feel too crowded even if they were busy. The menu had a lot of options and I settled on the Blazin' Chicken Breast sandwich and upgraded the side to fries instead of potato chips. My friend got a buffalo chicken salad and we split some breaded mushrooms too. Everything came out in a huge portion, hot, and delicious! You never really know what you're going to get when it comes to fries, but I was so happy with these ones--every single fry was perfectly crispy! Service was good too and if I lived closer to this area of town, I think it'd be a regular stop for a quick, satisfying meal.

Yelp
We meet family the first Tuesday of the month to try tenderloins and this was the intent! However, they had several lunch specials for $8.79 and it included your drink. Couldn't pass it up! The food was delicious and large servings. You will not leave hungry! The dining room was very clean. The staff were very friendly! A great place to go anytime! You will be glad you did!

Yelp
In the past we have always had a good experience with food and service at the Grill in McCordsville. I went there for lunch recently and ordered cottage cheese, a wrap, and iced tea. When the cottage cheese came I put a spoonful in my mouth and started to chew and heard my teeth cracking. I stopped chewing and spit out a hard piece of plastic. I flagged down my waitress and after showing her what I had found she asked if I would like another dish of cottage cheese. I said I did, but decided not to eat it. The waitress showed the piece of plastic to the owner and all I heard was the two of them chuckling. They may have been discussing something else but the appearance was that he didn't care. He did not even come over to discuss the issue or apologize. As I finished the rest of my meal my iced tea was getting low and the waitress refilled my glass out of a pitcher. I noticed a dark object floating in my glass and pulled it out with a fork. It was a huge dead fly!!! At that moment I decided not to finish any of the food I had left. It was pretty disgusting to think about what the rest of my food may have been exposed to. After this incident the manager still did not come to my table to discuss what had happened. The waitress told me she was going to discount my meal but all she did was take the iced tea off my bill. We will not be going back. Hopefully they clean up their act.

James B.

Yelp
Excellent breaded tenderloin, mushrooms, and onion rings at reasonable prices. We'll definitely be back.

Steve C.

Yelp
As always the Grill never disappoints! Despite the fact that we showed up with a group of 16 folks the service was spot on and food was terrific! There is a reason why this restaurant is consistently busy!

Debbie G.

Yelp
We have eaten at The Grill twice in the last month. We were seated immediately, even though we went for lunch at noon and they were busy. The service was great and the restaurant was very clean. The food is great! We had the grouper sandwich and the tenderloin with onion rings- excellent taste!

Autumn R.

Yelp
The food here is always good, no matter what I choose! The staff is very attentive, especially the manager/owner.

Tanya B.

Yelp
I'm not sure where the people who had a bad experience ate at, but it doesn't seem like it was The Grill. I have lived her for 3-1/2 years and in that time, my aunt from southern TN (yes TN) and my parents from southern IN make regular trips to eat here. I have also family who have been in the area for more than 25 years and only went to The Grill to meet up for meals. They've been here MULTIPLE times now. The only reason they came up here to watch the April 8th eclipse is because I promised them lunch from The Grill. While at first glance, the menu seems a bit pricey, the portions justify the expense. Between us in the past few years, we've had the Nachos (definitely can feed a family of four!), appetizer platter with chicken "fingers" (more like the whole hand!), fried mushrooms, fried pickles, potato skins, hamburger steak, sirloin, filet mignon (on steak nights), chicken alfredo, steak bites (kids menu), fish and chips, fajitas, taco salad, fajita wrap, oriental wrap, philly cheesesteak, french dip, buffalo shrimp, fried chicken sandwich, wedge salad, pepperoni flatbread, Strawberry salad (M-Th lunch special only), make your own hamburger, pork tenderloin sandwich - and, last, but not least, onion rings....These are hands down the BEST onion rings I've ever had. We ALL order and pay the upcharge. Their ranch and baja ranch are homemade and phenomenal! Since we've eaten through most of the menu, we've settled on our faves and "go-to's" are: Pork Tenderloin sandwich, Fish and Chips (subbing onion rings for chips) Philly Cheesesteak, Oriental Wrap and Fajita wrap with Steak instead of chicken, and Pork Tenderloin sandwich. We always have left overs to take home. The pork tenderloin is as big as your face. The service is always top-notch. Every waitress has taken time to chat a bit. We always get refills to go at no extra charge. We don't know the owners, but they are always there and things run smoothly. The only issue I've ever had is when I ordered the build-your-own burger. I wanted a regular bacon cheeseburger and ordered the BBQ burger without the BBQ sauce. It ended up with the sauce, which was good, but it's not what I wanted. The manager fixed it right away and even topped off my onion rings.

Lin LiAnn W.

Yelp
Their chicken tenders and ranch are some of the best in the area! Lots of parking in a strip mall setting.

Laura P.

Yelp
Every time I've been to The Grill, I've wanted to like it, but I haven't. I've tried their loaded tots, potato skins, chicken sandwich, shrimp, and French onion soup. Nothing is exceptionally great. The service isn't usually the best either. Today I paid $19.42 for two tiny cups of French onion soup. I'm very disappointed that this local restaurant is not that great.

Susan B.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for a breaded tenderloin near New Palestine, IN! The owner, Robert, was there the day we went in, he works hard to ensure all of his customers are having the best experience. The tenderloin is thick and juicy and the breading was near perfect! Everyone (-1) at our table had the fried tenderloin and enjoyed them! The green beans were also really tasty. My husband had the chicken fajita and said it was also very good.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Picked up some Grilled chicken sandwiches for carryout and they were very tasty! Loved that they took precautions to keep bread fresh and not let get soggy.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and stopped here on a recommendation. Terrific service and delicious food. Nice ambiance, with both a bar area and a separate dining area as well as a spacious patio. Also, exceptionally clean, even the restroom which seems to be rare these days. Gives you a lot of confidence in the quality and safety of the food and kitchen! Highly recommend.

Brooke L.

Yelp
I ordered the jerk wrap and the wrap only had a few bites of chicken and NO flavor. Jerk is supposed to be spicy. So not only that, there was no flavor at all. I asked for a full serving of chicken and the server rolled her eyes and said there's chicken so I asked for an additional side of chicken. It was brought out with no flavor. I asked for a side or the jerk sauce or marinade and she took the chicken and brought it back out with seasoning salt. So disappointed in my food. My sweet potato waffle were good though. Can confidently say that I won't be returning. Not only was my food not good, the service wasn't great either

Scott A.

Yelp
This place has really gone down in quality. I would recommend the breaded mushrooms, but that's about it. Very disappointed in the poor service, super lackluster salmon, pizza, burger and explanation of side items - our table of 4 was summarily disappointed. Oh and if you order a side item of the California "Medley," don't order the side of Broccoli - the "Medley" is about 95% broccoli, with two small carrot pieces and two super-oil saturated zucchini slices - when this was brought to management's attention, they acted unaware of any issue. I asked for a side of Rice Pilaf then, and never received, but was charged for the added side item, not realizing this until after the sale was complete. All around a big disappointment.

Desiree D.

Yelp
We tried The Grill for the 1st time a week ago and loved the food and service. My son had the Queso burger and said it was cooked perfectly. I had the chicken quesadillas and the flavor was excellent. Our server was great and you could tell he cared about his job. I would highly recommend trying The Grill out when you're in the Mccordsville area.

Stephen M.

Yelp
I came here for dinner as part of a group on a Friday night. I had the seared ahi tuna dinner served over rice with cauliflower. I loved the tuna they did a great job of preparing the dish. The service was excellent. We even had a full bottle of Monterey wine. It was a Friday night and the place was quiet. This restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Carmel, which is a nice area to be on a Friday night. I do highly recommend coming to this place for dinner.

Mikki B.

Yelp
We had the fettuccine Alfredo and it was delicious! Best breadsticks on the East side and a wonderful salad. Highly recommend! We've never had a bad meal or bad service! We picked up our dinner to go

Judah V.

Yelp
Never coming back here! I paid $3.99 for a small scoop of fries and when I asked for my money back the manager didn't want to give it to me and got an attitude for no reason. I kept the onion rings and threw up 2 hours later!! Don't come here unless you want to get sick

Emma J.

Yelp
I had high expectations because some coworkers were raving about this place, and to be fair if you don't have any dietary restrictions it might be amazing, but my experience was very bleh. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun with a side of fries instead of chips. Generally I don't like to order gluten free buns because they fall apart, so I asked for a lettuce wrap and was told they couldn't do that. But later someone from my party later asked for additonal lettuce for themselves and they brought her a plate of lettuce leaves. So they have they can do a lettuce wrap, they choose not to. When I got my order they didn't substitute fries like I had asked or bring the side of sauce. On a positive note- they have good fries and play decent music.

John S.

Yelp
I ordered a full slab of ribs and pain $35 with tax, $40 with tip to go. Got a half side of green beans and less than half of macaroni and cheese. Very unhappy with the sides.

spoken k.

Yelp
Let's start with the greeter he was welcoming, I said this is my first time at the restaurant he said were welcome. I'm sure you'll enjoy money back guaranteed! as long as you don't clean the plate and then ask for your money back. First couple bites. tell the story..the salmon was bone dry. It was overcooked. I don't mind that it was bland. I understand the salt content you want to add your own if at all. It had a good grill flavor. The green beans canned green beans with some bacon bits cooked in to help flavor them ..which I don't approve of. I was hoping for a fresh sautéed in a little butter or EVOO with some crunch? I know that cost more money but when you're dining out, you expect the best. I don't eat canned green beans at home! The mashed potatoes are good. I've tasted some of my friends and she said her shrimp were good and I didn't have any. I suppose they weren't over cooked which is real easy to do. Rice pilaf right out of the box. I should've ordered a potato. The silverware needs a serious upgrade there thin and flat the bottom of the barrel cheap. Would I dine there again, probably not.

Andrew P.

Yelp
Great food and even better service! The ribs are absolutely delicious and bones just fall out from the meat. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. All the meals include generous portions. The staff and servers are very polite and attentive, and empty plates are removed immediately.

Ida A.

Yelp
Such a big menu!, delicious food and friendly staff. Everyone is always welcoming!. The best ranch dressing around!!!!.

Noelle S.

Yelp
Good food, attentive management. Most of the serving staff is on the younger side, so alcohol orders may take a little extra time due to underage limitations

Sherry V.

Yelp
OMG... We went to the Grill for St. Paddy's Day. As soon as we arrived we were given necklaces and koozies .My favorite was the French Onion soup. The salad was excellent!. It was huge. My hubs had the tenderloin and chips. Very good, as per him. The Reuben was giant! My friend had the chicken fingers. First time for her and she really loved it. Our meals were great! Give the Grill a try. You'll be glad you did!

Natalie N.

Yelp
My first time to eat here. Great food and excellent service! I am very impressed by this place and will definitely be back.

June F.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant with my husband, our experience was great. Location: it's located off of a big street so it's easy to find. It's located in a strip mall so parking is very convenient. Service: service was good. Waiter was attentive and we got what we asked for quickly. Ambiance: it was very cozy and friendly. We were surprised to see many elders. I understood why at the end of our meal. Price: price is very reasonable and affordable. Daily special is something to check out. Food: food was good. Appetizer platter was a good choice for us to share. Pork chop tasted like the one that my husband cooks at home which is pretty good. I think fish dish I had was a cod and it was good. At the end of meal we understood why there were so many elders. We felt like we were served with very good home cooked meals. We really enjoyed it. We'll definitely go back.

Jason K.

Yelp
Quite disappointed. I had the seafood platter special. My wife had the smothered chicken. A lot of servers. Our food was cold, but flavorful. Nothing like having to get your food warmed up in a microwave. The clam chowder was good and hot. Quite spacious inside.

Branden A.

Yelp
The food was decent. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and my wife had a burger. What got me though is that they upcharge for everything on an already pretty expensive menu. Want fries instead of potatoe chips? Thats $2.79 extra. To add basic toppings to plain sandwiches, its $.079 each, including cheese. The service was average. Got our food about 20 minutes after ordering. The mashed potatoes and fries were horribly under salted. Waiter came by every now and then, but wasnt very personable. And I hope you like country music, because they blast it. I'm not a fan. The decor is fairly plain and boring too. The overall atmosphere is kind of depressing. Food: 6/10 Service: 6/10 Atmosphere: 3/10 Price for what you get: 4/10

Brandi J.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for the first time with my parents and their friends (they all have been here several times before and raved about it!). We had wonderful service and even the owner stopped by a couple times to make sure we were doing well. The food was delicious! We will definitely be back!

Lori G.

Yelp
It has been years since I have experienced such outstanding service at a restaurant. We came in for a late lunch and were wowed during our entire visit. The staff were on point, the dining room was full and there wasn't a single empty glass anywhere. The food came out as ordered, hot and delicious! Generous portion sizes too. I was too full for dessert but they looked amazing. I am visiting family from out of town but this will definitely be on my "must go again" list.

Phil S.

Yelp
Good food, good service, the chocolate cake is amazing. Not a 5 star place for lunch, but a good solid 4.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Our server, Elizabeth, was wonderful and on top of everything. I got the Philly cheesesteak and it was so flavorful. My daughter got the prime dip and she said it was really good. We will definitely go back again.

Scott F.

Yelp
This place is great! The service is lightning quick mid-lunch rush (think NASCAR out crew fast). Staff is really friendly, very clean!! I had the steak salad, very tasty, fresh everything! Well worth the cost. 12/10 recommend!

Sami G.

Yelp
We had a farewell dinner here and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the stuffed flounder and it was very good! We did not have one person get something they did not like. The strawberry lemonade was also really good!

Tony H.

Yelp
Very disappointed! More of a bar menu and same quality of food. Extremely hot in the building and poor service (no once checked in on us). I would have gave them this feedback if someone would have asked.

Joe K.

Yelp
Had a breaded tenderloin, lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. My friend's onion rings were very good too. A bit loud in there, still recommend it, service was excellent!

James M.

Yelp
My family and I went to The Grill on Tuesday night. Due the nice weather we were able to sit on the patio and eat. I ordered the tenderloin and onion rings. You just can't go wrong with this combo. Due to the size of this sandwich my wife and I could split it. My nephew ordered the chicken Parmesan. My nephew said it was underwhelming. I tried it and had to agree the pasta wasn't great especially for $16. My sister in law and father in law had the tenderloin too. I guess you can see what the go to dish is here. If you want great service and a patio to chill on The Grill is the place to go. Maybe next time I will expand my palette and order something else!

Jaimi D.

Yelp
Hidden gem. This little join is a definite must. Their menu us huge. Definitely something for everyone. I got the beer battered grouper and it was amazing. The fries were your standard French fry and the slaw was pretty standard as well. Both were good though. The beer selection is pretty decent. The place is clean and has easy parking. The service was spot on too.

Darrell T.

Yelp
Excellent; great staff; newly remodeled; Robert is an awesome owner. Located in a growing community.

Brenda B.

Yelp
Went for lunch last week with girlfriends. We sat in the bar & had a great time. Our waitress was amazing. She took great care of us. All our food was delicious & so we're the margueritas.

Terry M.

Yelp
We love The Grill!!! Lisa, Robert and the entire staff make you feel welcome. The food is excellent and I highly recommend the salmon, the tenderloin, the steaks and the salads. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is friendly.

January O.

Yelp
Ordered takeout. The philly steak and cheese with fries and my husband wanted to try the fried broccoli. The sandwich was very meaty but the meat was bland and dry. The sandwich lacked flavor and the fries were soggy not even each could save them. I asked for peppers on the side, didn't get them but was charged. The broccoli was terrible and I basically love all fried food. Just not seasoned.

Kevin W.

Yelp
I like the grill - the food is good and the beer is not over priced - The service is ok For some reason the clientele is pretty old / it seems like you are dining at a nursing home ... The bar area is ok - some regulars that know the bartenders- everyone else is kind of ignored

Gary B.

Yelp
This was our 4th visit to The Grill. It was as outstanding as the previous 3 visits. My wife and I were seated promptly by the attentive staff. Our server (Ashton) was at our table immediately after we were seated. We started with a combo appetizer platter with O-rings, fried pickles, and fried mushrooms. That was a great choice. The fried appetizers were flavorful without being greasy. Then came our main courses. My wife got a pulled-pork sandwich, which she said was very tender. I ordered stuffed flounder, which was indicated to be a GRILL SIGNATURE SELECTION. I can understand why they are so proud of it. The fish was flaky and mild with a delicious stuffing mixture of crab and lobster. It was served over a bed of seasoned rice with a side of steamed vegetables. In a time when many establishments are having a difficult time getting good workers, The Grill seemed to have plenty of help. They were all pleasant and attentive to their work. This told me that it must be a good work environment. Everyone was cooperating with others to give their customers the excellent service we expected. The boss was also part of the positive experience as he checked up on us and the other diners throughout the evening. Every one of our four visits to The Grill has been memorable, and we are looking forward to our next time.
