The Grove Wine Bar & Kitchen - Westlake

Part of a chain, I believe this is the original location. It's a little out of the way gor me, but honestly, it's worth the trip. Something about being the original restaurant, it seems in every case it's always just a little bit better than it's offspring. Today, I had the ancho pork chop. Absolutely one of the better meals I've ever had here. I look forward to having it again.

Such a great spot for a casual dining experience without having to compromise on atmosphere. The patio at night is lit up beautifully via the oak trees that run through it and the food has been tasty each visit. Ranging from the Pizza, Pasta, Bruschetta, and desserts, you can’t really go wrong. This is of course a wine bar so they have an extensive menus of wines to choose from and for anyone looking to have a cheap bottle of wine and just hangout, this is definitely accomplishable here. Would highly recommend giving this spot a try!

We had a National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Cheers! event at this location. It was perfect! The wait staff was amazing taking care of our guests and members. The area they had us in was quiet and out of the way from others enjoying dinner, which was nice because we could visit without the loud noise from the main restaurant. The food was delicious and delivered as we asked for it to be. Their selection of wine and other cocktails is amazing with so much to choose from. We will continue to use this and the other locations for our other events.

I strongly recommend that patrons of this restaurant consider requesting a different server than Brooklyn Y. for a more enjoyable dining experience. My recent encounter with Brooklyn was nothing short of disappointing and uncomfortable. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I had high hopes for a pleasant meal. Unfortunately, Brooklyn's service left much to be desired. She seemed rushed and disinterested from the moment we were seated. Throughout our meal, a table for two, she hardly checked on us, and when we needed assistance with selecting a second glass of wine, she was nowhere to be found. The tipping point, however, was when I chose not to leave a tip due to her poor service. My friend left a $5 tip out of kindness, but instead of accepting it gracefully, Brooklyn confronted me about my decision. She questioned my dissatisfaction and even asked if I normally don't leave tips when dining out. I provided a polite explanation, but her behavior was both unprofessional and rude. In light of this experience, I urge fellow diners to consider requesting a different server to avoid the discomfort and confrontation that I encountered. Dining out should be a pleasant and relaxing experience, and Brooklyn's behavior falls short of the standards we should expect from restaurant staff.

We visited The Grove with a large group on a Thursday night. We were seated right away, outside, which was pleasant even though we’re in the thick of summer. The ambiance and service were great, but the food was unremarkable. To be fair, I’m not the biggest fan of Italian food, so it has to be really something to make an impression. We ordered every type of bruschetta on the menu, the Wine Lovers pizza, and the Oven Roasted House Meatballs. (The bread that came with the Oven Roasted House Meatballs was amazing!) I don’t know if I would go out of my way to eat here again, but I could see that this would be a great spot for a girls’ night, grabbing some small bites and having a few glasses of wine, or even a first date, when the company is the main focus of the evening.

This place is a hidden gem. Lots of delicious choices. The salt n pepper shrimp n flan were our favorites. Kids loved the tenders and chips.

I may have made my last visit to The Grove. Why must the hostess be hostile and unfriendly? My husband I have been patrons for many years as we used to live around the corner. Open tables were abundant outside at 1: 00pm but we were told we needed a reservation to eat outside. We were rudely pointed to the bar area and after 15 minutes with no service we left. I doubt we will come back. Too bad Reed is no longer managing the resteraunt. These older unhappy women are sinking the ship for the owner.

I loved our lunch outing here. The service was good, food was okay but the environment was great! My husband ordered spaghetti and house meatballs which he didn't like. I liked my parmesan crusted flounder though. Their outdoor seating was great, but sadly we couldn't sit out as it was totally full. They have accessible parking and entrance. The restrooms are accessible too. The seatings can be accessible as well.

We ate here yesterday around 4:30 and loved it! Adan was taking care of us and did a fine job. The food was all delicious! Both the wedge salad as well as the salt & pepper gulf shrimp were strong appetizers. The big glory king bay salmon was absolutely delicious. My fiancé enjoyed her salad as well. We will be back again!

We ate here on August 23, after being unable to find parking. We originally wanted to go to The Well, but decided to use the valet services provided by the Grove and eat there instead. It was a busy Friday afternoon, but we were seated quickly and there wasn't significant delay in ordering, receiving our food, and paying. We were seated on the quieter side where their cafe/coffee shop is. We shared the italian sausage, whipped feta, and roasted mushroom bruschettas. I got the avocado BLT sandwich. The bruschettas are what they are known for, but I felt they weren't spectacular. The sandwich was just okay, but what I really loved were the chips on the side. My mom said they host events sometimes, so the vibes here are definitely great. Food was mediocre.

I haven't been here in a few months. The staff are still friendly and cheerful. I ordered the Italian sandwich and my former colleague had the avocado BLT. Both are served with homemade potato chips. The Italian sandwich was huge. It was filled with plenty of pepperoni, ham, and salami along with the vegetables and cheese. My recommendation is to order the aioli vinaigrette on the side. I forgot to do it and it was a bit messy but manageable. The homemade potato chips had a slight flavor of vinegar and salt and were very crispy and delicious. From what I could tell, my colleagues avocado BLT was pretty large too. Apparently, it was delicious because she ate the entire sandwich. We were there right at noon. It gets really busy, so I recommend you make reservations.

A really delicious dinner with a wonderful wine flight! The Grove has a lovely array of wines and food, and I like their flight options as a way to try a couple different varietals. We started with bruschetta boards, and out of what we tried, I particularly enjoyed the whipped herb feta & pistachios; the apple, fig, & brie; and the tomato, pesto, & mozzarella. As my entree, I got the Shrimp & Sausage Linguine, which features a delicious combination of gulf shrimp, spicy italian sausage, garlic, chile, white wine, tarragon, butter, tomato, parmesan, and herb bread crumbs. The shrimp and sausage paired surprisingly well, married by the gentle warmth of the chili and garlic sauce. Definitely make sure to squeeze the lemon over the pasta -- this hit of acid brings the dish up a notch! Our server was friendly, but definitely seemed like his attention was pulled too many other places. The service was on the slow side in terms of infrequent visits to the table, but drinks and food came out quickly once we were able to put in our orders. The patio was beautiful, with big trees and lots of lights twinkling over it. We ate inside, though, and while I appreciate a lively atmosphere, it was pretty loud and actually rather cold. I'd definitely ask to sit on the patio next time! I really, really liked the wine flights as an accompaniment to dinner. They have white, red, and sparkling options, and the flight is delivered with a card with information on the wines, which was a nice additional touch to learn a bit about what you're drinking.

Food was fine but we ate in the bar and the bartender who served us had an attitude. Just not friendly at all and made a couple of rude remarks and we weren't sure if he was joking or not. Just set a bad tone for our night out.

I came in at 9 pm. on Labor Day, and trust me.. I felt bad about doing it. I actually left the hotel and had a place in mind. Just like every place in downtown Austin, parking was ridiculous. After getting lost for a bit, I stumbled across this gem. Josh was my server. Super bubbly personality and gave the best recommendation for dinner. I ordered the reed side salad. AMAZING AND FRESH! Loved every bite. The Halibut is what Josh recommended, and SO GLAD HE DID! DELICIOUS! Crusted Halibut with fresh lime rice. The Halibut thicker than a snicker.. lovely and hardy all around. The rice had the lime sauce that complimented the halibut so nicely. There are no words. BRAVO CHEF! Loved everything about this meal. Hit every foodie spot. Among their fine food comes a fine wine list. All wines are listed from all parts of the world, including Italy, France, and Germany. There are so many to choose from for all wine aficianados. The ambiance was super inviting and relaxing.. even coming late on a Monday. I sincerely appreciate that! Dimly lit and overall an intimate experience. I highly recommend this gem! Went here on a Friday night date night with my Fiancée . Sat outside in the patio area which was lovely. Plenty of seating and I like how they have all the trees wrapped in lights that give a cool vibe. Our server was awesome and gave us the best service. I got a local IPA recommended by our server, which tasted amazing. My Fiancé got her usual New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. We started with a Caesar Salad and for the main got the Meat Lovers pizza. Both were so tasty and fresh. Ended with the most incredible Upside Down Pineapple Cake. Will definitely be back.

My husband, son and I had a lovely brunch here this morning. The guys decided on the Sunrise flatbread pizza and I had the crème brûlée French toast. We ordered the mimosa bucket because each of us wanted a different flavor. The prickly pear mimosa was amazing. Our server, Layla was very cheerful and efficient. We will be back again!

Very condescending people that work there ! They don't make you feel very welcome like they are doing you a favor by waiting on you ! Won't be going back any time soon ! Not for that amount of money!

If you haven't Beto this location in a long time you should give it another try. The food is great. We love everything from the oyster appetizer to the pineapple upside down cake for dessert m. The ambiance outside is really special under the branches of ancient oak trees and the service is really good. It's obvious they try really hard at everything and they succeed. Parking can look like a problem during peak hours until you discover the parking garage around back to the right. Tge only downside is the stupid traffic light on the way out but if you go to the opposite end of the parking lot there is a way out without a stupid traffic light.

Went to have lunch with some friends on a Saturday and sat outdoors which was cute. Server was great and recommended a few things and substitutions we could do which was great. First of all note that this location does not serve liquor, only wine and beer which was a bit disappointing. We ordered bruschetta and the strawberry and the tomato one was delish. I was just not a fan of the bacon one. For my meal I ordered the steak salad X's all blue cheese and got the lemon vinaigrette. Flavors were good and fresh, I would order again. Overall it was a good experience.

The Grove restaurants are my one of my favorites to dine! 1st time at the Bee Caves location for dinner on the patio. The ambiance with lighting on the trees is so romantic and beautiful on a good weather night. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. For sure get the Bolognese. It was served piping hot and very flavorful. The raviolis were tasty too, but I think the Bolognese was my fav. The parking the bread was perfection. You won't leave hungry either the portions are huge.

I came for my birthday lunch and was super let down. We sat down and didn't even get acknowledged until 20 min later. The waiter was on his phone after he took our drink order and it took another 20 min to get our drinks and order our food. Not like other grove locations. Skip.

The outdoor area which is under strings of lights is impossible not to see and be drawn in. I had passed the week before on a weekday night and wanted to go back immediately. The seating is as lovely as it looks. The menu is extensive, very extensive - and really has anything you might want from soups to salads, etc. I can't say the food was out of this world or highly elevated, but it was highly satisfying and would satisfy any group of people with various food preferences.

Stopped in for a quick HH after work on a beautiful Friday afternoon. My friend and I each grabbed a wine flight and we had a lovely time on the patio. I love the tree here. :)

Amazing! After a few times at this place (we are out of towner's) we realized the best way to dine here....Salads! Their salads are amazing! The portions are huge and the taste is perfection! We had two wine flights, 3 salads, a small plate appetizer and a dessert for $120. You can't beat that and the atmosphere is magical. Asian salad with all fresh crisp veggies and perfectly sauced was my favorite, I added salmon and so glad I did. We also had the steak and blue cheese salad which didn't let us down. Brussels sprouts were okay, I would definitely order them again. The star of the show, the pineapple upside down cake. Now on my top 10 dessert list! You have to try!

Overpriced for no reason at all. Nothing in the food, service or ambiance to justify these inflated prices. Plus the ceviche was too sour.

Just came from lunch and hadn't been for a couple of years. Outstanding experience at the Westlake location. Had the meatball, hummus and Brussel sprout appetizers. All very good. Had the redfish tacos and again, very good. Service was close to perfect and sitting on the patio was great. Self parking is rough but they do offer valet. Will be back very soon!

The menu is the same as all the rest of Grove restaurants, which is very good and very consistent.

Wowww! First time traveling to Austin, Texas and had an amazing salmon over black rice. The dish as you can see, came well presented and the taste did not disappoint. The salmon was well grilled and the sauce over it complimented the dish well.

Beautiful space, large portions, and delicious food made for a great evening out at The Grove Wine Bar. First off the indoor space is nice, but the outdoor space is also great-with lights and heaters. We were plenty warm even though it was a bit chilly out. Our group ordered a bunch of small plates, that weren't very small. We ordered way too much food but it was all good. The Brussels Sprouts were a hit. When your order bruschetta you got to order from about 7 different kinds, and we liked all three we ordered. The charcuterie board has a nice array of fruits, meats, cheese, nuts, olives, and spreads. Hummus was good, but would probably pass on that next time. The Parmesan Crusted Flounder was by far my favorite dish. Perfectly cooked fish with a nice crispy crust. It was delicious. Of course they have plenty of wine to choose from but they also had a few beers available. They also have a parking lot. It's definitely worth a stop in, even if you have to sit outside.

The miso salmon salad... i asked for not good. Called after we left. Kevin not much help.. If you can't provide this, don't say you can.

Went to their newest location on Wood Hollow and was pleasantly impressed; interesting and innovative menu, great ambiance on the deck, and the food was delicious. We shared the Garlic noodles and the Cuban press, and both were outstanding; subbing brioche for the traditional cuban bread was a nice touch, and the generous portions meant leftovers!! A touch pricey--lunch for 2 ran $65--but worth it for an occasional treat. Two thumbs up.

Oh the food is SO GOOD! I don't even drink wine, so I'm only in it for the food, and I'll be back for sure! LOVE the bruschetta menu - so many cool combos to try! They are all delicious. They know how to make a wedge salad special and we had probably my favorite dessert in a long while - their pineapple upside down cake! WOW! Highly recommend! It's super pretty on the deck that is built around an amazing old tree. Outdoor dining here is something special!

This place, at night on their patio, is beautiful! Amazing oak tree stringed with lights makes it a wonderful place to just hang out and chat with friends, or have a memorable date night. As for the food, everything was pretty good! By far my favorite thing about the place is the bruschetta and the wine flight options. You can get a selection of deeeelicious bruschetta for a reasonable price. Absolutely must try some if you're here. The brussel sprouts , soup, salad and sandwich.. while good, were not necessarily something I'd come back for. That's not to say there are probably some other tasty things to try. Check this location out for a beautiful night!

Delicious food! Beautiful atmosphere. I was visiting from out of town. We ordered pizza and I got the spaghetti & meatballs & my husband got the burger. Everything was delicious!

Almost perfect lunch spot. Set attractively underneath a beautiful canopy of mature live oaks. Because of the heat we opted for inside seating, which was nice enough, but VERY loud. The outstanding service and food almost made us forget the noise level. Our server was very thorough in detailing my wife's dietary limitations for the kitchen. She had a wonderful roasted salmon salad with fresh greens and veggies, while I had exceptional red fish tacos with cabbage corn slaw, and spicy avocado sauce with black beans and rice on the side. I could have made a meal of the beans and rice that were so tasty, but no way I'd give up those tacos. Best fish tacos ever! We each had glasses of moderately priced wines. Tab was a very reasonable $60 before tip.

Stopped here for a client lunch meeting. Parking was horrific and the valet stand was vacant, so finally found a spot on the rooftop of their parking garage. I'm no stranger to limited parking so I never judge a restaurant by that. The reason for the 3 stars is that The Grove is just ok. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't mind blowing, it was ok. I'll start with the negatives. First and foremost the hostess must have been having a rough day because she was quite rude and cold. The anti-hostess if you will. After she pointed at my table, that's right, I said pointed, I walked over and met my client. The server then took our drink and food orders. I ordered the Cuban Press with only meat, and the client ordered the burger. When the food came out, the burger was spot on, but the Cuban Press had everything on it. I thought, "no big deal, I'm not going to send this back." Now the positives. The service was great. After taking one bite of the press I was thinking that finishing it would be pretty difficult, then another server came out with a Cuban Press with meat only and apologized profusely about the mix up. Our server was great and seemed to always have perfect timing in checking on us, and we enjoyed the rest of our visit. In summary, I wouldn't be opposed to going back if I'm in the area, but I'm not going out of my way to pop in for a bite. Cheers.

Went here on a Thursday night to grab dinner and a drink with a friend. The spot wasnt hard to find and parking wasnt bad either. Overall, the atmosphere inside was nice. We sat inside, but would like to try sitting outside next time with all the lights and cool breeze. We ordered the calamari to share and as for my main dish, I ordered the sesame ahi tuna salad. I also had one of their red wines. I really enjoyed everything I had and would come back here again!

The best! Wine and pizza, nice atmosphere, no fuss. My go to with my girlfriends. Never had any issues with service.

Great food and ambience, I had the tenderloin filet cooked medium with a hummus spread appetizer and it was delish.. My wife had the bolonges which was also superb. Recommend this restaurant, great food, wine, and reasonable prices. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because we waited 30 min to be waited on after being seated but sounds like there was a mix up with servers.

Its been a while since I wrote a review for restaurant. We were in the westlake area today and decided to give this restaurant a try. My husband and I both ended up with food poisoning after eating here. At first I thought it was just me but soon he claimed of tummy ache as well. We had the penne pasta and the Jerk pasta. Highly disappointed!

I have been to the 3 Austin Grove locations and Westlake is my favorite. Their service seems to be a bit more reliable than the others and of course the magical tree on the patio is a CAN'T MISS. I am gluten free/celiac and I am amazed at all of their yummy options. Some family favorites are the Reed's salad, the okra, the wine lover's pizza, the flounder (when it's available), the ceviche, bacon wrapped quail, the bolognese, and the Cuban press. However, I think The Grove is one of the places where you just can't go wrong. They are committed to good food and service. If you are meeting up for conversation, sometimes the dining room can get a bit loud, so I'd recommend the patio. They do their best to keep it comfortable in different temperatures. Overall, they have never let us down and we are grateful for them!

Came here in a Saturday night and there were plenty of tables open. The outdoor seating is really nice! We were seated promptly and the wait staff attended to us quickly. Our server was very informative of the menu and answered our questions. We ordered the roast chicken and the Cuban sandwich. The chicken was moist and delicious! It was in tasty mashed potatoes with spinach. I'd order this again. The Cuban sandwich was just as delicious. The roast pork was so tender and flavorful and the bread was also perfect. Restaurant has a great vibe and we will definitely come back again and try the pizzas we were eyeballing..

I hate it!! Went with my family last year, and we had the worst experience! Things were going smooth until we got coffee. Paper cups! Everyone else in there had real cups, that is very unfair!Overall, my sunrise pizza wasn't even that good. My brother, on the other hand, had CHOPPED OVER EASY EGGS! My poor bro ordered scrambled eggs! When my aunt and her boyfriend came, they were late, and they were not even offered water! Service did nothing about it, and they weren't even proactive in the first place. The outdoor patio looked pretty legit, but throughout the entire building, it was dirty. There was some random teenager sitting on the floor the entire experience. Don't go, it is horrible.

We have been eating at the Grove from back when it had just one location. Recently - the Grove has been repeatedly so disappointing. We had an early dinner this week and the hostess was so unfriendly and almost rude. At first I thought it was a joke but it was not. Wait staff were sitting at a table tasting food and probably new wines. There was only one other table occupied. We waited almost 20 minutes to order, My wife had a salad with salmon on it and her meal looked terrible when served. The lettuce was obviously old, not fresh or crisp and the salmon was barely warm. My chicken was definitely marginal, would not recommend it and it too was not hot. Server was nice, but did not comment on the majority of the meal we did not eat because we thought it was so bad. We keep supporting and trying the Grove but come away disappointed recently. Wanted to tell management constructivelyafter we left but the Grove do not have a "comment" or "review" button on the web site. To many other better restaurants, right next door or across the street. So disappointed.

Love this place! From the moment we were seated, Brandy took care of us like we are royalty. Nice ambience but not quaint, with tables conversing around you. The food was fabulous and upscale. Definitely will be back.

One of my favorite spots to go to after work during the week, especially when there is nice weather so I can sit outside! I love coming here of course for the wine but also because they have gluten free alternatives for most dishes. Their charcuterie boards and pizzas are delicious. The staff is always so kind and have great wine flight recommendations. I have never eaten inside so I can't speak to that but outside there is an area with wooden picnic tables up on the hill or nicer tables and chairs on the outdoor patio deck to choose from. The giant tree in the middle of the deck is wrapped with lights so at dark this area is just spectacular to have some food and wine.

This was my second visit to The Grove Wine Bar and Kitchen. Both times we have been seated on the patio, what a beautiful area. The multilevel deck with full tree cover is the perfect outdoor dining experience. I love the extensive wine list and the food is always great. We have only been for lunch but the sandwiches and lunch specials that we have ordered have all been very good and the presentation is wonderful. We tried the bruschetta appetizer with three different toppings that were full of layered flavors that complimented each other. It was a great shareable for the table until our food arrived. Reservations are a good idea at a busy time because the place fills up and the parking is a little sparse.

Good food and service but very noisy. Can't hear the person sitting next to you let alone anyone else at the table. Not a place for a chat and visit.

My sister took me here while I was on vacation visiting her. She had never been and we absolutely love trying new spots especially for brunch to see what the offerings are. I love this place and I will go here every time I visit. The service and wait staff were so kind and very much knowledgeable on the food and drink offerings. As you can see from the photos I did order some mussels for brunch hahaha I love seafood and I was not disappointed. I literally finished it and wanted to drink the sauce that it was served in so the pieces of bread were great to soak that all in. We also got a mimosa flight and I've never had a lavender mimosa and it was to die for! If you've never had lavender mimosa, go here and give it a try! I crave it from time to time!

Service is not good. Never saw our waiter. Mentioned this to the front desk. The three girls just looked at me and said, "hmm". So, we just left.

Our server, Adan, did a great job of going through the menu to find the best gluten free options. The seared salmon salad did not disappoint. Also, the gluten free pizza was amazing.

One of our favorites. Great venison chilli, reminds me of my dad's. Caesar salad is really fresh and mighty tasty. Sit outside...the best outdoors ever. Really great ambiance
